Climb aboard the Rainbird, our classic yacht located on Lake Union. We will cruise Seattle’s lakes and waterways—taking in waterfront views of beautiful Lake Union along with its views of Seattle’s architecture, beautiful skyline, and floating-home community. Further afield, we’ll cruise Portage Bay, Lake Washington, Seattle Locks, and view other historic sites and landmarks. Our boat is large with ample comfortable seating, room to move around, and a fly-bridge that offers better views than smaller cruise boats. We offer a variety of cruises , or if you know exactly what you want to see, or would like to celebrate a special occasion on the water, w e also offer a Custom Cruise option .

“I would give 10 stars if I could! I couldn’t recommend the sunset cruise with Captain Kelley more highly. My husband and I had an absolute blast with Captain Kelley and his two adorable dogs. He was incredibly knowledgable about every landmark on the tour- from the water level, to the wild life and surrounding houses. He took us past the floating houses, the tech mansions in Medina, and the sleepless in Seattle house. Seeing the sunset over the Seattle skyline was simply stunning, followed by an incredible view of the city lights at night. The weather was mostly cold and raining on our tour, but fortunately Captain Kelley has a spacious and warm indoor area for passengers to sit. This cruise is an unbelievable deal and is truly one of a kind. We look forward to taking our family and friends on this cruise in the future.”

The 4 best seattle boat tours.

Take in the Emerald City's top sights from the water.

The Best Seattle Boat Tours

seattle skyline from the water

Getty Images

After exploring Seattle on land, snap photos of its skyline from a boat.

There's no better way to admire the stunning Seattle waterfront than from a boat. A variety of boat tours – from kid-friendly sightseeing cruises to romantic sunset sails – allow visitors to take in all the sights while enjoying a fresh sea breeze. Relying on expert input and traveler sentiment, U.S. News compiled four of the best Seattle boat tours.

Argosy Cruises – Locks Cruise

Price: Adults from $54; kids from $25 Duration: 2 hours

Enjoy the unique experience of passing through the Ballard Locks on this two-hour, one-way cruise. As you transition from the freshwater of Lake Union to the saltwater of Puget Sound, you'll hear live narration about Seattle's history and maritime industry from an onboard guide. Along the way, you'll pass some of the Emerald City's top sights, including the Space Needle , Olympic Sculpture Park and Gas Works Park, among others. Note that the cruise is one way, meaning it ends at a different location than it starts. You'll be dropped off at Pier 54 on the Seattle waterfront or AGC Marina on Lake Union. You can choose where you'd like to depart from when you book your tickets. You can also pay extra for bus transportation back to your starting point. Reviewers applaud the onboard guides, praising their knowledge of the region and their eagerness to answer questions and point out landmarks. Travelers were also pleased with the comfortable, clean boat. Some recommended avoiding the return bus service describing it as inconvenient, and instead suggested opting for your own transportation.

Tickets start at $54 for adults and $25 for kids ages 4 to 12 (children 3 and younger ride for free). Tour schedules vary depending on date and time of year; in the summer months, you can expect tours to be offered twice a day at 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. Argosy Cruises also offers harbor sightseeing tours.

Sailing Seattle – Sunset Sail

Price: Adults from $62; kids from $49 Duration: 2 hours

Head out for a two-hour sail on a custom 70-foot yacht to admire the downtown Seattle skyline as the sun sets. Described by reviewers as "peaceful" and a "must-do," this laid-back cruise does not include a guided commentary and does not follow a set route – the tour's course is dictated by wind direction and boat traffic on Elliott Bay. Visitors are allowed to bring any food or beverages they want on board (though glassware is prohibited, glass bottles are OK). The crew also recommends bringing a jacket or sweater in case it gets chilly – a suggestion echoed by reviewers. A word to the wise: Since the yachts were built for racing, bench seating is limited, and visitors might have to sit on the deck.

Tours are offered late April through early October. The exact sailing schedule varies by the day and month. Tickets start at $62 for adults and $49 for children ages 5 to 12. The company also operates daytime sails in the waters surrounding the city, as well as a two-hour sail on Puget Sound.

Along with familiar Seattle landmarks, you may also spot seaplanes taking off and landing on this tour from Candére Cruises.

Canderé Cruising – One Hour Sightseeing Cruise

Price: From $50 Duration: 1 hour

Board a six-person vessel for an intimate outing with Candére Cruising on its one-hour sightseeing cruise, where the captain also doubles as the bartender. On this quick trip around Lake Union, passengers will see famous sights like the Space Needle, the Fremont Bridge, a variety of boats and yachts, and may even spot seaplanes taking off and landing, all while enjoying a cocktail (or mocktail). Travelers say the trip is relaxing and lots of fun, even for locals. Another highlight is seeing the houseboat featured in "Sleepless in Seattle."

Tickets start at $50 and include one drink. The one-hour cruise is offered eight times a day, though exact availability may vary by day. Candére Cruising also offers private outings, sunset cruises and day sails on Puget Sound.

View & Book Tickets: Option 1 | Option 2 | Option 3

Seattle's Tall Ship – Seattle Harbor Sailing Tour

Price: Adults from $45; kids from $35 Duration: 2 hours

Climb aboard the Bay Lady, an 85-foot tall ship, for a family-friendly sail around the Puget Sound. Departing from Bell Harbor Marina at Pier 66, this two-hour tour promises views of the Space Needle, Smith Tower and the city skyline. If you're lucky, you may spot harbor seals, depending on the time of year. In addition to two restrooms, the boat is equipped with an onboard bar. Travelers praise the attentive, friendly crew and the beautiful boat. They also say the views of Seattle and the sound are amazing.

The company sails daily, though exact times vary by day. The sailing season runs from the end of April to the end of October. Tickets start at $45 for adults and $35 for kids ages 2 to 12. Any purchases made on board cost extra. Seattle's Tall Ship also offers a sunset sail, in addition to private charters.

a drawing of a face

We had a delightful time with Captain Curt. He was friendly and answered all questions. We didn't feel rushed or hurried at all. We had a great afternoon and family outing. I highly recommend this excursion.

Captain Russ is spectacular. He is an amazing captain with a great personality. Captain Russ made my family feel at home out on the water. Thank you for creating a fabulous memory for my family.

Loved it, we had a 3 hour daytime private sail with Russ. We were able to sit on the front of the boat and got to relax together. Would recommend for anyone looking for a private experience or a COVID-safe experience.

We took an afternoon sail on the Puget Sound. We hardly sailed because the wind did not cooperate but the experience was still wonderful. Russ was attentive and full of interesting facts about the Puget Sound and the locations we saw along our cruise. I highly recommend this experience. You will not be disappointed. Thanks Russ!

Captain Russ was great. Very mellow afternoon, no set agenda. Boat was very nice, stable. If you are looking for a way to get out of town and enjoy something cozy with your family this is a great option. Thanks

Thoroughly enjoyed our time sailing. Russ was a knowledgeable and friendly captain! Highly recommend this experience while in Seattle.

Enchantress Crusies

We would like to thank everyone who joined us in 2022 for a scenic cruise or one of our full meal experiences. We had one of our best seasons to date. With heartfelt appreciation, Mark and crew

Enchantress cruises honors, recognizes and stands in solidarity with all those who work on behalf of social justice. “blm”, sold: private fourth of july, 2022 fire-works celebration. our fourth of july event has sold this year. please see events page for details, and plan ahead for next year..

The moment you step on board the beautiful Carol M. you will be transported to another, earlier time. From a short three hour scenic cruise, which includes hors d’oeuvres, but not meals, to our full gourmet dinner cruise, we provide a truly enchanting and personal experience.

Our cruises originate on Lake Union, home of the famous “Sleepless in Seattle” and house boat community–then navigate the Montlake Cut out into Lake Washington, unless other arrangements have been made. (We do offer dock-side pickup to homes on Lake Washington.)

As you cruise along the lakeshore you will see some of Seattle’s most beautiful waterfront homes and properties, while enjoying complimentary hors d’oeuvres of two nice cheeses, crackers and fresh grapes on all of our cruises.

We are however best known for our dinner cruise of four or more hours, where we anchor in one of the bays on Lake Washington. There, in the stillness of the water, we serve a delicious, relaxed multi-course dinner before resuming the cruise for home.

Or if you prefer, book us to cruise west through the Ballard Locks and experience the salt air and stunning views of Puget Sound (for this cruise plan on 7 to 8 hours).

Whichever adventure you choose, you will find it to be far more than a boat ride–we are not your typical charter boat, we create memories!

Our minimum cruise is a three hour charter, includes hors d’oeuvres, but no additional meals at $770.00. Additional hours are $225.00 per hour.

Our dinner cruises require a minimum of four hours, at $995.00.

Meals are a separate charge, and average $150.00 per person. Please visit our menu page . We are not licensed to sell or provide alcohol, but if you bring it we have everything needed to manage and provide full service at no additional cost.

All our cruises are private and designed with you for your personal experience.

• We are licensed as a six-pack charter, and can take up to SIX GUESTS TOTAL. (Children must be twelve years of age or older) • We have a minimum time of 3 hours for a scenic cruise, with our most popular cruise being our 4 hour dinner cruise. • All cruises come with light hors d’ oeuvres, and a two person crew; a licensed captain, and myself, owner, host, and chef.

We look forward to seeing you on the water, Mark Lanfear

'Love Boat' theme cruise setting sail later this year

A new “ The Love Boat”-themed cruise will set sail later this year on the actual Love Boat – or as close as fans can get.

Princess Cruises , whose ships served as the backdrop for the beloved 1970s and ‘80s series, will offer the itinerary in August. The sailing marks the line’s second Love Boat cruise following its first outing in 2022, and will feature members of the original cast.

“We had such a blast connecting with fans on our theme cruise in 2022, so bringing it back in 2024 feels like it was meant to be, especially with the addition of some surprise guests,” Jill Whelan, who played Vicki Stubing in the show and serves as Celebrations Ambassador for the line, said in a news release . “Sailing with our fans brings us so much joy and this cruise will undoubtedly be a special reunion, taking us back to where it all began – on a Princess Cruise.”

Start the day smarter. Get all the news you need in your inbox each morning.

When is the 2024 Love Boat cruise?

The week-long cruise will sail round-trip from New York on Aug. 31. The voyage will take place on the line’s 3,660-passenger Enchanted Princess ship, which launched in 2021 (the line has retired the vessels actually used in the show).

Where will the cruise sail?

The ship will visit Newport, Rhode Island; Boston; Rockland, Maine; and Saint John and Halifax in Canada.

Along the way, guests will get face time with the cast, including Whelan; Bernie Kopell, who played doctor Adam “Doc” Bricker; Fred Grandy, who played purser Gopher, and Ted Lange, who played bartender Isaac. Ezra Freeman, the bartender from “The Real Love Boat,” a reality dating show inspired by the original series, will be on hand as well.

Activities include a sailaway party, meet-and-greet photo and autograph sessions and a cocktail demonstration hosted by Lange and Freeman. Passengers can also test their knowledge at “Love Boat” trivia and even participate in a symbolic vow renewal ceremony officiated by the stars, among other programming.

The line will also offer a VIP package that gives guests access to a cocktail party with the cast, move them to the front of the line for photos and autographs, and other parks.

How much does the Love Boat cruise cost?

The sailing currently starts at $568 per person based on double occupancy, according to the line’s website . The fare includes the cruise’s themed activities, many restaurants on board, entertainment and more.

Princess will announce pricing for the VIP package at a later date.

Once cherry blossom season arrives , those in the nation’s capital can expect a flurry of excitement from both tourists and locals alike as folks search for the best ways to enjoy the iconic flowers and welcome warmer weather.

In this guide, WTOP rounds up a few of the ways to view the blossoms by water, whether that’s on a kayak, pedalboat, cruise or tiki boat. Come sail away!

Have brunch or a beverage during your cherry blossom tour

First up, City Experiences offers a large selection of cruises, but the cherry blossom-themed tours can be scheduled for enjoying brunch (from $90 for signature or $105 for premier ) to lunch (from $46 for signature or $80 for premier ) to dinner (from $91 for signature or $109 for premier ).

City Experience also offers a cherry blossom fireworks cruise option on April 6 during the Petalpalooza celebration (from $116 for signature or $170 for premier ).

For the most affordable cherry blossom tour from City Experiences, consider the 45-minute cherry blossom tour from Georgetown (from $27) or the cherry blossom water taxi (from $22).

From Capitol River Cruises , there is still availability during the cherry blossom peak bloom to take cherry blossom cruises. These cruises last approximately 45 minutes and include a refreshment bar (with additional charge). Boats travel along the Potomac River with sights like the Kennedy Center, Washington Monument, The Watergate Hotel and the Lincoln Memorial. Tickets start at $15 for children ages 3 to 12, $21 for seniors and military members and $25 for adults and those 13 and up.

Looking for a private view of the blossoms?

If in search of more private seaside experiences, The Jefferson Hotel and The Watergate Hotel are both offering hotel packages with bespoke boat tours themed for fans of cherry blossom. Those who stay at The Jefferson Hotel with the Blossoms by Boat package get to enjoy a myriad luxe perks, including a one-and-a-half-hour private boat tour with EmbarkDC for up-close views of the blossoms.

Those who enjoy this boat tour will also get gourmet bites for two created by Executive Chef Fabio Salvatore Bites, plus a Jefferson-branded blanket for the boat ride. This package must be booked 14 days prior to arrival with a two-night minimum stay at a Deluxe King or Suite guest room with a starting rate of $1,200 per night.

The Watergate Hotel’s  Spring Charter package also allows guests to enjoy the Potomac River in a 90-minute private boat tour with views of the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument and other local landmarks.

Ali Le, director of marketing at The Watergate Hotel, told WTOP that guests will also be provided a Polaroid camera to be able to capture the boat experience on film for keepsakes. Prices start at approximately $700 per night, and those who sign up for the Spring Charter package must book their stays in the hotel beginning March 15 and at least 14 days ahead of the boat tour.

“You’ll see it’s basically a really great historical tour. You’ll see an abundance of cherry blossoms all throughout,” said Le, who added that the boat can accommodate up to six people, but if necessary, it can be upgraded to a bigger boat for larger parties.

Float down the Potomac in your own tiki bar or hot tub

The Sea Suite Cruises’ Potomac Tiki Club tiki boat booze cruise is another unique way to set sails. All cruises come equipped with a captain and a dedicated bartender with drinks available for purchase on board. The company offers a Georgetown cruise starting at $45 per person with a group size between eight and 18. There is also the Tikito private tiki boat in Navy Yard, available for up to six passengers and starting at approximately $375 per boat.

If you’re ready to dip your toes into the water, consider the cherry blossom hot tub boat tours hosted by Sea the City. Only available for those ages 18 and over, this two-hour experience accommodates up to 20 people with up to 10 people able to fit in the hot tub. Prices start from $315.

Travel by kayak, pedalboat or yacht

Other ways to enjoy the cherry blossoms while traveling by water include REI Co-op’s kayak and paddleboard rentals at National Harbor (pricing varies by time frame and type of gear) as well as GoBoat’s boat rentals from The Wharf that can fit up to eight people (pricing for one boat varies by time frame). Nautiste also offers luxury dining experiences aboard private yachts with different options and pricing points depending on how many guests will be included.

Last but not least is Boating in D.C. , which offers some of the most affordable ways to enjoy the cherry blossoms on the Potomac River. For your next adventure on water, consider pedalboats at the Tidal Basin or kayaking or canoeing at The Wharf or Georgetown or the several other locations served by the company.
