Seattle Cruise Parking (Where to Park): Prices, Profiles, & Map

Driving in for a cruise from Seattle and not sure where to park? We have all your options below.

If you’re sailing from Seattle, honestly the best option is to have someone drop you off at the port. It’s faster, cheaper, and more convenient than having to park. We know, however, that’s not an option for everyone and thousands of people drive to the port every week to set sail.

cruise ship parking seattle washington

That means you’ll need a place to park your car. Unfortunately, with the cruise ports located near downtown Seattle, there aren’t many parking options for you to choose from. ( Seattle park & cruise hotels do offer more choices .)

The lack of competition combined with expensive real estate mean that parking prices are some of the highest in the country. For example, you can spend $30 per day for Seattle cruise parking. That’s much more expensive than popular ports like Miami, Port Canaveral, Galveston, and others.

Still you do have some options to choose from, including traditional lots located near the port, Seattle hotels with free parking, and airport parking.

Below, we cover all your options of where to park for a Seattle cruise.

In This Article...

Official Parking for Port of Seattle (Pier 66 and Pier 91)

The Port of Seattle works with a third-party company to provide parking for cruises from Pier 66 and Pier 91.

Republic Parking This is the main parking service for the port and the one linked to by the port’s official website. Republic Parking Northwest offers two different parking areas. It has a large lot across the Magnolia Bridge from Pier 91 (shuttle provided to the pier) and a parking garage across Alaskan Way from Pier 66.

Parking costs $30 per day at Pier 66 for regular cars & trucks under 6’6″. Parking costs $29 per day for regular cars/trucks at Pier 91. With both lots you can get a discount of $1 per day if you book online ahead of time. This also reserves your spot.

Oversize vehicles cost $60 per day, but will have to park at the Pier 91 parking lot (you will get a taxi voucher back to Pier 66 if sailing from there). If arriving with an RV, you must reserve online ahead of time to guarantee your space.

Seattle cruise parking lots

Both lots offer 24/7 patrolling security. A skybridge connects the Pier 66 garage to the cruise terminal. There is a shuttle that operates for Pier 91. There are handicap-accessible parking spots available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

As for payment, you can book and pay online ahead of time. At the pier, cash, Visa, MasterCard, and American Express are accepted.

  • Cost: $30 per day (Pier 66) | $29 per day (Pier 91)
  • Address: 9 Wall Street, Seattle WA, 98121 (Pier 66) | 2001 West Garfield St. Seattle, WA 98119 (Pier 91)
  • Website: https://www.cruiseseattleparking.com

Independent Parking Lots

Seattle CruisePark This lot is located just north of Pier 91, very close to the official port parking. Despite its location near this cruise terminal, it serves as parking for both Pier 91 and Pier 66. It’s located about two miles from Pier 66.

Parking costs about $27 per day (priced as $187 for a 7-day cruise), although prices do vary depending on the length of cruise. It is convenient in that there is one price no matter which cruise port you will sail from. There is also free shuttle that will drop you and your luggage off at the port of your choice.

Limited oversize vehicle parking is available priced at $243 for up to 30 feet (one week) and $286 for up to 40 feet.

There are also two options to park, with a more convenient VIP valet service at no additional charge. With this service you have to leave your keys, but on the plus side you are closer to the shuttle pick-up point.

If headed on a 14-day Alaskan cruise, this is one of your best options. The lot charges $240 for two weeks, or only about $17 per day. That’s a significant discount to parking at the official port parking lots.

  • Cost: ~$27 per day (prices vary based on length of trip)
  • Address: 1601 West Armory Way, Seattle, WA 98119
  • Website: https://www.seattlecruiseparking.com

Seattle Airport Parking Lots

If you’re like us, you might be surprised at the expense of parking your car while you cruise, especially when airport parking is considerably cheaper. We’ve found several airport lots that charge as little as $10-15 per day near the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

It’s tempting to consider these lots as a way to save some cash, but keep in mind the distance between the airport and the cruise port. Any money saved on parking will likely be eaten up by the cost of commuting to your ship . For reference, a tax ride from the airport to the cruise port runs about $40-$55 each way.

By the time you add this amount to the less expensive airport parking lots, it’s a wash with the added hassle of having to commute all the way to the airport to get your car.

Hotels with Cruise Parking

If you are staying in the area, contact your hotel to see if they will allow you to park your car for the length of your cruise. Sometimes you can stay only a single night and be allowed to park for free — or at a discount — for the length of your trip. Fortunately, there are a number of hotels with parking packages, located both near the airport and near the cruise ports.

We have a full list of Seattle hotels with cruise parking here, as well as some suggestions below.

Warwick Seattle Hotel  Sitting just blocks from Pier 66 (and only a couple of miles from Pier 91), the Warwick is one of the few hotels in the downtown area that features a parking package. The hotel’s Park & Cruise package features parking for up to 14 days included with your hotel fare, along with breakfast (although the hotel rate is slightly more for this package). There is also a shuttle available to the cruise port, or an Uber/Lyft would only be a few bucks. (Note: When we checked online, we didn’t see the package available but a call to the hotel told us it is offered.)

Four Points by Sheraton Downtown Seattle Also located in the middle of everything, this hotel is just minutes from the ports. The Four Points offers parking to guests for $20 a day with the option to leave your car as you cruise. That parking rate is about one-third off the rate of the parking at the port.

For a full list of options, see our page here .

The map below shows the traditional parking lots near cruise terminal. Below, we have more details on each option.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there anywhere to park for free for my cruise? Seattle is one of the hottest real estate markets and the ports also sit in a highly developed area. That means available space for parking is at a premium. The only way we know to find free parking is to stay at a hotel that will allow you to leave your car during your cruise. There are a number of hotels with cruise parking , but keep in mind that many will at least charge a small fee to park during your stay. You’ll also usually have to arrange transportation to the cruise port.

Are there parking discounts for disabled or veteran cruise passengers? Ports in Florida and Texas often offer discounts to disabled passengers or veterans. Unfortunately, we have not seen this sort of discount offered in Seattle. It may come in the future, but isn’t available now that we know about.

Is my car going to be secure?  While there’s always risk in leaving your car unattended anywhere, the lots mentioned above have secured parking with security and/or fencing. We have not heard of passengers having issues with leaving their during their trips.

Yes, that’s available at Pier 91:

One Trip at a Time

The Port of Seattle has one of the fewest options for parking at any cruise port. This means high prices as well as limited choices for cruise passengers. You may prefer to check out   hotels   that offer free parking during your cruise and arrive the night before your cruise to take advantage?

If you are looking for Port of Seattle cruise parking, we’ve detailed the limited options available, but it’s going to cost you over $20 a day to park. Another option is to park at the airport, but the distance from there to the port means any saving could be lost once you pay for transport to the cruise terminal? We’ve collated all the information you’ll need to find your perfect parking option for your cruise from Galveston in the table below.

As with all our tables, you can filter and sort the information to quickly find a parking lot that is perfect for you. Clicking on the name of the lot will take you to further details below, including the street view of the lot so you can see where you will be parked.

Information in the table is correct as of February 2019 and prices include all applicable taxes and fees, but as prices can change, please ensure you confirm the price before purchasing. There is also a map showing the locations of all the parking options at the bottom of the post.

SEATTLE PARKING LOTS

Below you will find further information on all the Seattle cruise parking lots in the table above, including a street view of the lot and a button to take you directly to their website once you have chosen your preferred parking lot.

REPUBLIC PARKING NORTHWEST (PIER 66)

This is your only option if you are cruising from Pier 66, but it does provide garage parking and a quick walk to the cruise terminal.

REPUBLIC PARKING NORTHWEST (PIER 91)

This is the more expensive option for Pier 91 offering a five-minute transfer to the terminal.

SEATTLE CRUISE PARK

The cheaper option for Pier 91, but still very expensive compared to other cruise departure ports.

Seattle cruise parking: options, prices, & map.

' src=

As a cruise enthusiast, I recognize the significance of locating both accessible and budget-friendly parking solutions close to the cruise terminals in Seattle.

Luckily, there are plenty of choices available. The Port of Seattle offers official parking at Pier 66 and Pier 91, with prices ranging from $29 to $60 per day. These lots provide 24/7 security and offer online booking discounts.

If you prefer independent parking, Seattle CruisePark near Pier 91 serves both terminals and starts at around $27 per day.

In addition, there are airport parking options and hotels with cruise parking packages to consider.

To help you plan your parking strategy, we’ve provided a map of the various parking lots in Seattle.

So, let’s dive in and explore the options, prices, and map for Seattle cruise parking.

Table of Contents

Key Takeaways

  • Republic Parking Northwest offers parking at Pier 66 and Pier 91, with prices ranging from $29-$60 per day.
  • Seattle CruisePark is an independent parking lot near Pier 91 that offers parking for about $27 per day, with discounts for longer cruises.
  • Seattle Airport parking lots are cheaper than cruise port parking, but the cost of commuting from the airport to the cruise port should be considered.
  • Some hotels in the area offer parking packages for cruise passengers, with options such as the Park & Cruise package at Warwick Seattle Hotel and the Cruise and Park package at Four Points by Sheraton Downtown Seattle.

Official Parking at Pier 66

I can park at Pier 66 for $30 per day with 24/7 security and discounts for booking online.

Compared to independent parking lots, the official parking at Pier 66 offers numerous benefits.

First, the security provided gives me peace of mind, knowing that my vehicle is safe while I’m away on my cruise.

When comparing to independent lots, the official parking at Pier 66 offers more convenience and reliability, as it is specifically designed for cruise passengers.

With its prime location near the cruise terminals, it eliminates the need to worry about transportation to and from the port.

Overall, the official parking at Pier 66 provides a convenient and secure option for anyone embarking on a cruise from Seattle.

Official Parking at Pier 91

Pier 91 offers secure parking with 24/7 security and discounts for booking online.

Choosing official parking has several advantages over independent parking options.

Firstly, the official parking lots are directly managed by Republic Parking Northwest, ensuring a higher level of security and reliability. With 24/7 security monitoring, you can have peace of mind knowing that your vehicle is safe while you’re away on your cruise.

Additionally, booking online allows you to save money with exclusive discounts. On the other hand, independent parking lots may offer slightly lower prices, but they may lack the same level of security and oversight.

It is a convenient choice for those looking to save on parking costs while still enjoying the benefits of valet service and security. Consider your cruise length and vehicle size when making a cost comparison and choosing the best parking option for your needs.

Seattle Airport Parking Options

I prefer to weigh the convenience and cost of airport parking before making a decision. When it comes to parking options in Seattle, there are a few things to consider.

Here is a cost comparison and information on transportation options for airport parking:

  • Airport parking is cheaper than cruise port parking.
  • However, the distance between the airport and the cruise port may offset the savings.
  • Lyft rides from the airport to the cruise port cost about $35-50 each way.
  • Consider the cost of commuting and parking before choosing an airport lot.

When deciding on airport parking, it’s essential to think about the overall cost and convenience. While airport parking may be cheaper, the transportation expenses to the cruise port can add up. It’s crucial to consider factors like transportation options and the distance between the airport and the cruise port before making a decision.

Hotels With Cruise Parking Packages

Warwick Seattle Hotel offers a convenient Park & Cruise package that includes up to 14 days of parking. As a cruise passenger, I found this option to be incredibly convenient and cost-effective.

The hotel is located near the cruise ports, making it easy to access the terminals. The package not only includes parking, but also a comfortable stay at the hotel. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed, providing a relaxing atmosphere before embarking on my cruise.

In terms of transportation, the hotel offers shuttle services to the cruise ports, ensuring a seamless transfer. Alternatively, ride-sharing options like Uber or Lyft are also readily available in the area.

Overall, I highly recommend taking advantage of the Park & Cruise package at Warwick Seattle Hotel, as it offers convenience, affordability, and peace of mind.

Map of Seattle Parking Lot Options

Exploring the locations and proximity to the cruise terminals, it’s important to consider factors like security, convenience, and cost when choosing a parking lot.

When it comes to Seattle cruise parking, there are several options available. During peak cruise season, it’s crucial to check the availability of parking lots.

One option is the official parking offered by Republic Parking Northwest at Pier 66 and Pier 91. The costs are $30 per day at Pier 66 and $29 per day at Pier 91, with oversize vehicles costing $60 per day.

Another option is Seattle CruisePark, located near Pier 91, which serves both Pier 91 and Pier 66. Parking prices here vary based on the length of the cruise, starting at about $27 per day.

It’s essential to compare parking rates for different cruise lengths to find the best deal. Additionally, consider the map of Seattle parking lot options to plan your parking strategy effectively.

Factors to Consider When Choosing a Parking Lot

When considering where to park for a cruise, it’s important to evaluate factors such as security, convenience, and cost.

Security measures are crucial to ensure the safety of your vehicle while you’re away. Look for parking lots that offer 24/7 security and surveillance.

Comparing the costs of different parking options is also essential. Official parking lots at the Port of Seattle may be more expensive, but they provide peace of mind with their security measures. Independent parking lots near the cruise terminals offer competitive prices and even discounts for longer cruises.

Another alternative is airport parking, which is cheaper but may require additional transportation costs. Additionally, some hotels offer parking packages for cruise passengers, providing convenience and sometimes even shuttle services.

Consider your priorities and budget when making a decision about where to park for your cruise.

The scent of fresh papaya fills the air, tempting me to take a bite.

With such a variety of fruits to choose from, I feel invigorated and ready to indulge in nature’s sweet offerings.

Demystifying Royal Caribbean Gratuities: Your Guide to Costs and Etiquette

An image featuring a close-up of a hand holding a cruise ship model, surrounded by a variety of international currency notes

As an experienced traveler, I’ve constantly been curious about the enigmatic realm of gratuities on Royal Caribbean. What is the appropriate amount to tip? And, specifically, who deserves those tips? Fear not, my fellow cruise enthusiasts!

In this guide, I will demystify the intricate web of Royal Caribbean gratuities, providing you with all the necessary information about costs and proper tipping etiquette.

So, grab a cup of coffee and let’s embark on this enlightening journey together!

  • Royal Caribbean charges a daily gratuity to every passenger, regardless of age, which is distributed to passenger-focused crew members.
  • The gratuity rates are $16.00 per person, per day for most guest rooms and $18.50 per person, per day for guests in suites.
  • Guests have the option to prepay gratuities before the cruise to avoid potential rate increases and eliminate extra charges on the ship.
  • While the gratuity amount is typically automatic and not easily changed, reductions may be reasonable for poor service or major issues, which can be discussed at Guest Services.

Understanding the Daily Gratuities Charge

I have learned that the daily gratuity charge on Royal Caribbean cruises is automatically applied to my account and distributed to passenger-focused crew members. This automatic charge is a convenient way to ensure that the hardworking staff who cater to our needs are properly compensated.

The pros of this system include the ease of not having to worry about carrying cash or calculating tips. It also guarantees that all crew members, from dining staff to room stewards, receive their fair share.

However, there are some cons to consider as well. Some passengers may prefer to have more control over their gratuities and choose to tip individually. Additionally, it is important to understand that a portion of the gratuity charge is not distributed to all crew members, but rather to those who directly serve passengers.

Overall, understanding the distribution of gratuities helps us appreciate the hard work of the crew members who make our cruise experience enjoyable.

Who Must Pay Gratuities on Royal Caribbean?

Passengers of all ages are required to pay gratuities on Royal Caribbean cruises. There are no gratuity exemptions or age limits for tipping on Royal Caribbean. Unlike other cruise lines that may have special circumstances for younger passengers, Royal Caribbean applies gratuities to all passengers, regardless of age. This means that even children and infants are required to pay the daily gratuity charge.

It’s important to note that the gratuity amount is the same for all passengers, regardless of their age. So whether you’re a child, a teenager, or an adult, you will be subject to the same gratuity charges. This policy ensures that the hardworking crew members who provide excellent service to all guests are fairly compensated for their efforts.

Breaking Down the Costs: How Much Are Gratuities?

Breaking down the costs, the gratuity amount on Royal Caribbean cruises varies depending on the length of the cruise and the type of guest room. Here is a breakdown of the gratuities on Royal Caribbean:

  • For most guest rooms, the daily gratuity charge is $16.00 per person, per day.
  • Guests staying in suites are charged $18.50 per person, per day.

The rates also vary based on the length of the cruise. For example, a 7-day cruise in a balcony cabin would result in a gratuity charge of $112.00 per person. Couples on a weeklong cruise in a balcony cabin would be charged $224 in gratuities.

It’s important to note that these gratuity charges are separate from the 18% automatic gratuity charged at specialty restaurants, bars, and spas.

These tipping guidelines provide a helpful framework for passengers to plan their budgets and ensure that the hardworking crew members are rewarded for their exceptional service.

Payment Options: How to Pay Gratuities

Paying gratuities on Royal Caribbean cruises can be done through various methods. One option is to prepay before the cruise, which has its advantages. Prepaying allows you to budget your expenses in advance and avoid potential rate increases. You can easily prepay online or by calling Royal Caribbean.

On the other hand, if you choose not to prepay, gratuities will be automatically added to your account at the end of the sailing. This eliminates the need for additional payments on the ship. However, if you prefer alternative payment methods, you can discuss specific gratuity refunds or changes at Guest Services until the morning of departure.

It’s important to note that the 18% automatic gratuity charged at bars and spas cannot be changed.

Can I Change the Amount Paid? Dealing With Service Issues

Dealing with service issues on a Royal Caribbean cruise can be frustrating if the gratuity amount is automatic and not easily changed. However, there are options available to address these concerns.

Here are some steps you can take:

Visit Guest Services: If you’re unhappy with the service, go to Guest Services and explain the situation. They may be able to assist you in reducing the gratuity amount based on the poor service received.

Request a Refund: If the service issues were significant and impacted your overall experience, you can discuss the possibility of receiving a refund for specific gratuities with Guest Services.

Act before departure: Make any changes to gratuity amounts before the morning of departure. After that, the automatic gratuity charges will be final.

Be aware of restaurant and spa gratuities: Keep in mind that the 18% automatic gratuity charged at specialty restaurants, bars, and spas cannot be changed.

Express your concerns: It is important to communicate your dissatisfaction with the service to ensure that your concerns are heard and addressed.

Navigating Gratuities Etiquette on Royal Caribbean

When it comes to navigating gratuities etiquette on Royal Caribbean, there are a few alternatives to consider.

While the daily gratuity charge is automatically added to your account, you can choose to prepay it before your cruise to avoid rate increases and extra charges on the ship. However, if you’re not satisfied with the service, you may be able to make a reduction at Guest Services until the morning of departure.

It’s important to understand the impact of gratuities on the salaries of the hardworking crew members. These gratuities play a significant role in their earnings, as they are distributed among the passenger-focused crew, such as dining staff and room stewards. By tipping, you are directly contributing to their livelihood.

Additionally, it is worth noting that the 18% automatic gratuity charged at specialty restaurants, bars, and spas cannot be changed.

To summarize, tipping alternatives on Royal Caribbean include prepaying gratuities and requesting reductions for poor service. Remember, gratuities have a meaningful impact on the salaries of the dedicated crew members who strive to make your cruise experience enjoyable.

Are Gratuities on Royal Caribbean Mandatory?

Yes, gratuities on Royal Caribbean are mandatory and not included in the overall cruise price. While the amount of gratuity paid can typically be adjusted for poor service or major issues, changes are limited.

Can I Choose Not to Pay Gratuities on Royal Caribbean?

Opting out of paying gratuities on Royal Caribbean can have financial implications. While it may be possible to change the amount paid for poor service, the automatic charges are generally mandatory.

How Are Gratuities Distributed Among the Crew Members?

Gratuities on Royal Caribbean are distributed among crew members based on their roles and responsibilities. The specific allocation process is determined by the cruise line, ensuring that the gratuities are fairly distributed to the passenger-focused crew who provide exceptional service throughout the cruise.

Are There Any Exceptions to the Daily Gratuity Charge?

There are no exceptions or alternatives to the daily gratuity charge on Royal Caribbean cruises. Every passenger, regardless of age or circumstances, is required to pay the automatic gratuity.

Are Gratuities Included in the Price of Specialty Restaurant Meals, Drinks, and Spa Services?

Gratuities are not included in the price of specialty restaurant meals, drinks, and spa services on Royal Caribbean. These services have an automatic 18% gratuity charge, separate from the daily gratuity charge applied to your account.

No-Sail Order Extension: Impact on Cruise Industry

The extended no-sail order caused financial losses and job uncertainties for cruise lines, passengers, and crew members. The impact of the no-sail order on the cruise industry has been significant. Here are some key points:

Financial losses: Cruise lines have faced substantial financial losses due to canceled voyages. With no sailings, they have been unable to generate revenue from ticket sales, onboard purchases, and other sources.

Job uncertainties: Crew members have been greatly affected by the no-sail order. Many have faced job uncertainties as cruise lines have had to reduce staff or put employees on furlough. This has created a challenging situation for those working in the industry.

Industry recovery strategies: In response to the no-sail order, the cruise industry is working on implementing health and safety protocols to ensure a safe return to sailing. Cruise lines are investing in new technologies, enhancing cleaning procedures, and collaborating with health authorities to restore passenger confidence.

Cruise line financial support: To mitigate the financial impact, cruise lines have sought financial support from governments and implemented cost-cutting measures. They have also explored alternative revenue streams, such as offering virtual experiences and land-based activities.

Overall, the no-sail order has presented significant challenges for the cruise industry, but efforts are underway to recover and adapt to the new normal.

Barcelona Port: A Hub for Cruise Ships

Barcelona’s vibrant culture and attractions make it a sought-after destination for cruise passengers. The city’s port facilities are well-equipped to handle large cruise ships, contributing to the local economy through cruise tourism. Barcelona is a popular port for many cruise lines, and it is often included in their itineraries. As a frequent visitor to the port, I have observed the efficient operations and excellent services provided to cruise ships and their passengers. The Barcelona port offers a range of facilities, including docking areas, passenger terminals, and customs and immigration facilities. Cruise ship regulations in Barcelona ensure the safety and security of both passengers and crew members. The port authorities prioritize the implementation of health and safety protocols to create a safe environment for all who visit. Overall, Barcelona’s port plays a crucial role in the success of the city’s thriving cruise tourism industry.

Costa Toscana Christening Ceremony: A Celebration in Barcelona

Attending the Costa Toscana christening ceremony in Barcelona was a memorable experience. Witnessing the celebration of Costa Toscana’s inaugural voyage was a testament to the resilience of the cruise industry. However, it is important to acknowledge the impact of the no-sail order on crew members. The extended no-sail order has created job uncertainties for these hardworking individuals. With canceled voyages and rescheduled trips, crew members have faced financial challenges and an uncertain future. As the industry works on implementing health and safety protocols, it is crucial to prioritize the well-being and stability of the crew members. Their dedication and commitment are essential for the success and recovery of the cruise industry. The Costa Toscana christening ceremony served as a reminder of the industry’s determination to overcome obstacles and provide memorable experiences for passengers and crew members alike.

Financial Losses: The Toll of the No-Sail Order

Experiencing the extended no-sail order firsthand, I witnessed the devastating financial losses incurred by cruise lines due to canceled voyages. The impact on the crew has been significant, with many facing job uncertainties and financial struggles. Cruise lines rely heavily on passenger bookings to generate revenue, and with trips being rescheduled or canceled, their financial situation has been severely affected. The industry is working diligently to implement health and safety protocols to ensure a safe return to sailing. However, the road to recovery will be challenging as cruise lines navigate through these unprecedented times. It is crucial for the industry to find innovative ways to attract passengers back and regain their trust. As the no-sail order continues to be extended, cruise lines must adapt and find ways to overcome the financial hurdles they face.

Passenger Troubles: Rescheduling and Cancellations

Dealing with the extended no-sail order, I had to adjust my travel plans and navigate through the challenges of rescheduling and cancellations. It was a frustrating experience as I had been eagerly looking forward to my cruise vacation. I had to contact the cruise line to discuss my options and explore the possibility of rescheduling or canceling my trip. I also had to consider passenger compensation and whether my travel insurance would cover any losses. Unfortunately, the situation was unpredictable and uncertain. I had to weigh the financial implications and make a decision accordingly. It was a reminder of the importance of having travel insurance and being prepared for unexpected circumstances. Overall, it was a disappointing turn of events, but I remained hopeful that I would be able to enjoy my cruise in the future.

Job Uncertainties: Crew Members in the Cruise Industry

Navigating through the uncertainties of the extended no-sail order, crew members like myself faced job insecurities and the need to consider alternative employment options. The prolonged pause in cruise operations due to the pandemic has had a significant impact on our well-being. With no clear timeline for when we can return to work, the mental health support for crew members has become crucial. Cruise lines have recognized this and have been implementing various initiatives to address our needs. These include providing access to counseling services, organizing virtual support groups, and offering online resources for mental health and well-being. It is encouraging to see the industry acknowledging the challenges we face and taking steps to prioritize our mental health. As we continue to navigate through this uncertain period, it is essential that crew members receive the necessary support to ensure our well-being.

Implementing Health and Safety Protocols: Industry Efforts

Since the extended pause in operations, the cruise industry has been actively working on implementing health and safety protocols to ensure the well-being of everyone involved. These efforts include:

  • Enhanced cleaning and disinfection procedures throughout the ships.
  • Mandatory pre-boarding health screenings for passengers and crew.
  • Social distancing measures in public areas, including reduced capacity.
  • Improved ventilation systems to enhance air quality onboard.
  • Regular testing and monitoring of both passengers and crew for early detection of any potential health issues.

These health protocols and safety measures are crucial in restoring confidence in the cruise industry and providing a safe environment for travelers. By prioritizing the well-being of everyone onboard, cruise lines are taking proactive steps to mitigate the risks associated with the current global health situation. The implementation of these protocols demonstrates the industry’s commitment to ensuring a safe and enjoyable cruise experience for all.

Barcelona’s Attractions: A Delight for Cruise Passengers

Exploring Barcelona’s attractions during a cruise is an absolute delight for passengers. Barcelona is a city known for its rich culinary delights and architectural wonders. The city offers a wide range of gastronomic experiences, from traditional tapas to Michelin-starred restaurants. Cruise passengers can indulge in delicious paella, fresh seafood, and mouthwatering Catalan cuisine. Barcelona’s architectural wonders are also a sight to behold. Seattle Cruise Parking: Complete Guide (2020/2021)

Last Updated on August 20, 2021 by Nabila

Cheap Long-Term Parking Near Seattle Smith Cove Cruise Terminal

Passengers departing from the Smith Cove Cruise Terminal have a lot of public parking options in the area, but they can be quite expensive. For this reason, it would be better if someone could drop you off and pick you up later. However, if you have to drive yourself, we suggest checking out our Seattle Cruise Parking Guide to discover how to save both time and money! Learn where to park, discover off-site parking lots, and the best Seattle hotels.

Seattle Cruise Port is about a mile away from downtown Seattle. It has two terminals – Pier 66 and Pier 91 Smith Cove Cruise Ship Terminal. Park at Pier 66 for Norwegian Cruise Line and Oceania Cruises—the address is 2225 Alaskan Way, Seattle, WA 98101. Park at Pier 91 for Princess Cruises, Carnival Cruise Line, Celebrity Cruises, Holland America, and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.

Seattle Cruise Parking

cruise ship parking seattle washington

The main on-site cruise parking service is operated by Republic Parking Northwest. The Seattle Cruise Port parking map shows the location of both self-parking parking lots—Pier 91 Lot D and Bell Street Pier 66 Garage. Depending on your cruise lines, choose one of the two parking areas:

  • The Bell Street Pier parking garage provides 1500 car parking spots connected to the terminal via a sky bridge. You can enter from Wall Street, but you have to arrive after 11 AM. Passengers that are driving oversized vehicles should note that the height clearance is 6’6”. The Bell Street Pier 66 garage is open 6 AM–12 AM.
  • The surface parking lot has 1100 parking spaces close to the cruise terminal. A free shuttle service is provided to/from this parking area. Since it is an outdoor lot, it is a great parking structure for oversized vehicles and offers RV parking. The Pier 91 Lot is open from 7 AM to 5 PM.

According to its website, Republic Parking Northwest facilities are safe and patrolled 24/7. A shuttle bus service operates daily to and from Pier 66/Pier 91. We suggest that you make an online car parking reservation to save money on long-term parking near the cruise terminal. Republic Parking Northwest accepts Visa, Master Card, and American Express.

Accessible Parking

Both Seattle Cruise parking structures offer multiple handicapped parking stalls for passengers with disabilities. Anyone who occupies an ADA parking space must own a disabled parking permit, placard, or license plate. Standard parking rates apply.

Please drop all your luggage and extra passengers at the cruise terminal prior to parking.

Off-Site Seattle Cruise Parking

Off-Site Seattle Cruise Parking is available in the downtown Seattle area, but not many affordable parking services are available in the area. After checking out all options near the Seattle Cruise Terminal, we discovered the best off-site parking company.

Seattle CruisePark

Seattle CruisePark is your go-to choice if searching for secure and low-cost parking near the cruise port! It is located around 6 miles from the cruise terminals and 3.5 miles from downtown Seattle. Its features and amenities include:

  • Self-parking
  • Valet parking
  • Discounted parking prices
  • Free shuttle service every 10 minutes
  • Online reservation system

A week-long car parking rate is $157, which means that the daily parking cost is approximately $22.50. If you need a Seattle Cruise parking space for 10 days, you will get a special rate of $17.50 per day.

There’s one more alternative! Check out off-site Seattle-Tacoma Airport parking lots that offer much cheaper prices. The downside is that they are located approximately 15 miles from the Cruise Port of Seattle. However, it is worth the cost when the particular lot provides courtesy shuttles to Seattle Smith Cove Port.

Returning to Your Long-Term Parking Lot

Whether you use an on-site Seattle Cruise Terminal parking facility or an off-site parking structure, you should arrange the post-cruise shuttle service. Seattle CruisePark shuttles run every 10 minutes, and the ride to the lot takes 3-8 minutes. Alternatively, you can grab a taxi cab if you’re in a hurry since all overnight parking options are close to the Port of Seattle terminals.

If you want to come to the city a day before your cruise ships’ embarkation, stay the night in a nearby Seattle hotel that offers Seattle Cruise parking services.

Park Snooze & Cruise deals also allow you to check out some Seattle attractions before your trip, such as the Seattle Space Needle, the EMP Museum, Seattle Waterfront, Pike Place Market, Seattle Art Museum, Pioneer Square, the Museum of Flight, etc.

Bottom Line

Passengers starting a journey at the Port of Seattle have a decent number of choices when it comes to cruise terminal parking near Pier 66/Pier 91. The on-site options—Bell Street Pier 66 Garage and Pier 99 Lot D—are the most convenient. However, with the rates starting at $23 and $26 per day, passengers often look for alternatives. Seattle CruisePark is ideal for extended stays—the rates are competitive, and the shuttle service is reliable. When it comes to downtown Seattle parking lots, it’s best that you choose one of the Seattle hotels. They often offer free parking to the cruise terminal passengers and shuttles to/from their location. If the downtown hotel is within a short distance of the Seattle Cruise Port, you can even hop on a taxi to reach the terminals.

Feel free to try us out for your next beach cruise vacation trip! Our simple booking system allows you to reserve a secure and convenient parking area—and a shuttle to your cruise ship—in no time. Parking Access can also help you book long-term and short-term parking at other major cruise ports and airports, including Seattle-Tacoma Airport. See our Sea-Tac Parking Guide for additional info!

  • Require cruise ships to plug into shore power while docked in Seattle

Reducing a cruise ship’s greenhouse gas emissions is a herculean undertaking, among the toughest nuts to crack in the quest for a decarbonized economy. With this in mind, the Port of Seattle invested tens of millions of dollars to install cables, conduit and other infrastructure at its piers so these gargantuan ships can run on shoreside electricity rather than their gas-and-particulate-belching engines.

As the 2024 cruise season begins Saturday, it’s time for the port to require cruise ships to plug in on Seattle’s waterfront. So far not all have made that commitment.

The world’s biggest cruise lines have agreed to ambitious climate goals within the United Nations’ International Maritime Organization, advocating for carbon neutrality by 2050. Getting there will be a daunting task. Converting cruise ships to hybrid or electric power is not possible “because the battery would be bigger than the ship,” points out Robert Morgenstern, senior vice president for Holland America and Princess Cruises’ Alaska operations. The industry is focused on finding a source of green power but it’s likely still years from being ready for use.

“The fuels of the future will take time, but shore power is here now,” Morgenstern said.

The Port of Seattle has made that power possible at both Pier 91 and Pier 66, spending $44 million at the latter to do so.

Disappointingly, cruise ships plugged in at Seattle piers only about one-third of the time in 2023. That percentage should rise dramatically. The port’s commissioners should have a simple rule: cruise ships that won’t plug in can’t dock here.

Holland America and Princess Cruises have been using shoreside power in Seattle since 2005. Royal Caribbean and Celebrity have not.

Morgenstern notes it actually costs the lines more money to plug in than to run their engines in port. But the commitment is to the environment and neighboring residents, he said.

Norwegian, meanwhile, has prime parking at Pier 66, sandwiched between Seattle’s Great Wheel to the south and the Olympic Sculpture Park to the north. The company’s ship, the Norwegian Bliss, will make its first cruise to Alaska on Saturday.

While the ship was away, the port in January laid a mile-long cable along the Elliott Bay seafloor — the most viable way port staff felt they could bring power to the pier. The cable will connect a substation at Terminal 46 south of Colman Dock with the Bliss’ Pier 66, which Norwegian has leased through 2030. By July, the port expects to have installed a large transformer that will make shore power possible there for the first time.

The port and the company are currently negotiating Norwegian’s contribution to the project — a welcome gesture given previous years of emitting carbon and sulfur dioxide, nitric oxide and other harmful particulate matter on Seattle’s waterfront.

Once the electricity is flowing in July, Norwegian should hook up the Bliss to shore power at the soonest possible moment, fulfilling promises that David Herrera, president of Norwegian Cruise Line, said of his company’s desire to decarbonize. It’s “not lip service,” he said at a recent Seattle conference of the Cruise Lines International Association, a trade group, adding of his own children in an era of climate change: “I want them to enjoy what I enjoy.”

A shore-powered Bliss is a start. The company estimates it will save 18 metric tons of traditional marine fuel from burning each year, while reducing 57 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions per season.

The Port of Seattle’s current goal is a 100% connection rate between ships and electricity by 2030. Its commissioners should require ships to plug into shore power now or document their plans to convert their ships so they can plug in.
