About bangkok holidays .
Officially called Krung Thep Maha Nakhon in Thai, Bangkok is both the most populous and the capital city of Thailand. The city is home to an estimated 10.6 million people, which amounts to 15.3% of the country’s entire population. Back in the 15th century, it used to be a small trading post during the time of the Ayutthaya Kingdom. It made rapid progress in the coming years and became a massive centre of modernisation in Siam (later renamed Thailand) in the 19th century. The official language of Bangkok is Thai, however, it is not uncommon to come across locals speaking fluent English in the city streets. The city embraces and highlights a beautiful blend of Thailand’s modern development and diverse culture through its number of tourist attractions, which cover the aspects of architectural wonders, cultural and religious sites, entertainment venues, etc. The main crowd-pullers in the city are The Grand Palace, Wat Pho, Wat Arun, Lumpini Park, Wat Traimit, Wat Phra Kaew, etc., most of which you can find in popular Bangkok trip packages. The aspect of shopping in the city is also very popular among tourists, with its main highlights being the Bangkok floating markets, luxury malls, weekend street markets, etc. Bangkok also has amazing nightlife, thanks to its energetic entertainment venues, nightclubs, bars, discos, lounges, restaurants and cafes. The availability of fun activities and luxury accommodations also make this Thai city a great choice for family vacations, trips with friends and honeymoons.

Best time to visit Bangkok
It is vital that you choose the right time for your trip before looking for Bangkok tour packages. Go through the following pointers to find the best month to visit Bangkok for a vacation;
Hot season in Bangkok
The hot season in Bangkok ranges from March to June. The days initially remain clear and sunny, but the frequency of rain slowly starts to increase as May sets in. The average temperature range usually stays between 26°C to 35°C, with April being the hottest month. The hot climate makes outdoor tourist activities very difficult for visitors. Individuals visiting Bangkok during these months prefer spending their time by the nearby beaches. The indoor Bangkok tourist attractions and nightlife are the main highlights of tourism in the hot season. If you are planning on visiting this Thai city during this time, make sure to book accommodations with air conditioning and avoid going outside in the daytime. You won’t have issues finding Bangkok packages scheduled for the hot season.
Rainy season in Bangkok
The rainy or wet season in Bangkok starts around July and ends in October. Heavy rain showers are common occurrences in the city, but they usually happen for a short duration. Thus, the weather conditions continue to remain hot and humid for the most part. The average temperature range glides around the mark between 26°C and 34°C during the day and falls slightly at night. Outdoor exploration and activities take a massive hit due to the unannounced rainfall, which can hamper plans. The tourist crowd during these months remains quite low, which makes it the best season to visit Bangkok on a budget if you can tackle the frequent rainfall and the annoying temperature and humidity. If you are visiting the city during these months, make sure to pack proper rain gear and always carry an umbrella when going out. Despite the low tourist crowd, you can easily find tons of Bangkok trip packages for this season.
Cold season in Bangkok
The cold season, which stretches from November to February, is popularly regarded as the best time to go to Bangkok for holidays. Though considered the cold season, it is by no means freezing. The weather conditions remain quite pleasant, with an average temperature range of 22°C to 32°C. Keep in mind the temperature drops around the nighttime, so dress accordingly. The season is much more favourable for both indoor and outdoor tourist activities, which is why the city experiences a massive influx of visitors. Some of the main festivals and events during the cold season in Bangkok are Loy Krathong, Royal Barge Procession, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, Chinese New Year, etc. Make sure to book flights and accommodations in advance before you visit Bangkok because the cold season is the peak tourism season. It is better to go with Bangkok packages for the cold season if you don’t want to worry about setting up the trip from scratch.
How to reach Bangkok?
While some Bangkok tour packages feature transportation as a standard inclusion, others don’t. So, when planning your trip, it is important you learn about the possible ways to travel to the city without any hassle. Here’s how you can reach Bangkok from India;
Travelling by flight is the best way one can reach Bangkok in Thailand. The city houses two major international airports, namely the Don Mueang Airport and the Suvarnabhumi Airport, located at a distance of 24 km and 35 km, respectively. Both these airports connect Bangkok to major countries and Thai cities via frequent international and domestic flights. You can easily board a flight from a major Indian city and reach Bangkok, Thailand, in just a few hours. For instance, a direct flight from Kolkata, India, to Don Mueang Intl-Bangkok, Thailand, takes around 2 hours and 30 minutes. After landing at the airport, individuals can simply opt for ground transport (bus, taxi, airport shuttle, rail, etc.) to continue their journey to the Bangkok city centre. While some Bangkok packages offer round trip or optional flights, others may not. So, make sure to look for Bangkok trip packages that meet your travel requirements.
Even though tourists can travel to Bangkok from India by road, it is not usually recommended. The journey is very tedious, requires a lot of paperwork and permits and will take a lot of days to complete. Individuals can also choose to fly to any other Thai city from India and continue their journey to Bangkok by road in a taxi or rental car. A popular route includes flying to U-Tapao-Rayong-Pattaya International Airport from India and then travelling to Bangkok by road in a taxi, which takes around 2 hours to complete. Individuals can also opt for bus travel to Bangkok from nearby Thai cities. Road journey to Bangkok is usually not included in most Bangkok tour packages.
One can not reach Bangkok by train from any Indian city because there’s no direct rail route connecting these two locations. However, tourists already in Thailand can make use of the local rail system to reach Bangkok from its nearby cities. The central railway station in Bangkok is called Hua Lamphong, which is served by both intercity and international trains. This railway system connects Bangkok with many important locations, such as Surat Thani, Chiang Mai, Nong Khai, Ayutthaya and even border nations like Cambodia, Laos and Malaysia. However, it is better to go with the India to Bangkok tour package plan that includes flights for the most convenient travel experience.

- Bangkok has the world’s largest gold Buddha statue. Officially named “Phra Phuttha Maha Suwana Patimakon”, this statue is located in Wat Traimit and is around 3 metres tall and weighs 5.5 tons.
- As Bangkok resembles the city of Venice through its remarkable system of canals, it has earned the title of the “Venice of the East”.
- Due to the rise in sea levels, the city of Bangkok is slowly sinking at a rate of 2-3 centimetres every year.
- A very interesting fact about Bangkok is that the temples engraved on the back of the official Thai Baht coins can all be found in the capital city. For instance, the 1 THB coin features Wat Phra Kaew, the 2 THB coin features Wat Saket, the 5 THB coin features Wat Benjamabophit, and the 10 THB coin features Wat Arun. All these renowned Watts are standard inclusions in most Bangkok packages.
- As per the World Meteorological Organisation, Bangkok is the hottest city in the world in terms of the average air temperature throughout the year, which is 28°C.
- In addition to washrooms for males and females, Bangkok features designated washrooms for a third gender.
- Alongside giant skyscrapers and modern architecture, individuals can find tons of temples in Bangkok. For reference, the city has way over 400 Wats (a Thai word for temples), and the most popular ones are Wat Phra Kaew, Wat Pho, Wat Arun, Wat Saket, Wat Trimit, Wat Mahathat, etc. Most Bangkok holiday packages include these tourist attractions under sightseeing.
- Bangkok has more than 15 floating markets, which also act as major tourist attractions and shopping destinations in the city.
Bangkok culture
The beauty of Bangkok's tourism lies within its diverse culture. It is a city where the old and the new co-exist beautifully instead of becoming two contrasting features. One of the most important aspects of Bangkok’s cultural life is religion. Buddhism is the most followed religion in the city. Bangkok features numerous religious landmarks in the form of monasteries and temples. These sites also serve as an outstanding example of the traditional Thai art, culture and architecture. In society, it is expected to dress appropriately when visiting places of respect, like temples, and removing shoes before entering. Most of Thailand’s visual arts, painting, literature, folklore, dance, poetry, music, etc., are also prominently seen in the city and its surrounding region. The love and respect towards the monarch is also very apparent in Bangkok. Individuals can find pictures and posters of the royal family on many public walls in the city. Also, the King’s anthem is played at the start of all movie screenings, plays and cultural performances in the city. The law requires individuals to stand up while this anthem is playing and refrain from making fun of the monarch. Fairs, festivals and popular events are major highlights of Bangkok’s culture and celebratory outlook. Some of these events include the likes of Songkran, the King’s Birthday, Loy Krathong, etc., which are well-known Bangkok attractions for tourists. The other aspects of Bangkok’s culture are also not so different from other parts of Thailand. So, alongside browsing through popular Bangkok holiday packages, make sure to learn about the local culture and traditions of the place.
Indian tourists visiting Bangkok are required to have a valid Thailand visa in order to enter the country for tourism purposes. Indian nationals who want to enter Bangkok only for tourism purposes and not for more than 2 weeks are eligible for the visa-on-arrival feature. You can obtain your visa on arrival for Thailand at both the international airports (DMK and BKK) in Bangkok. As for other purposes, individuals are required to apply for a Thailand visa prior to their Bangkok trip. Some popular Bangkok packages can also handle the aspect of a visa for your trip.
Foreign currency for Bangkok visit
The official Bangkok currency is called the Thai Baht. It is denoted by the code “THB” and the sign “฿”. One Thai Baht can further be divided into 100 satangs. Individuals visiting Bangkok will need to acquire sufficient Bangkok currency (Thai Baht) for their trip as it is the only accepted currency in the city and other parts of the country. As of now, the Bangkok currency to INR value is 1 THB = 2.33 INR. Individuals can get foreign exchange for their Bangkok trip both in the form of cash or a prepaid forex travel card. For this purpose, tourists can easily make use of the online foreign exchange service offered by Thomas Cook. To do so, visit the foreign exchange page by Thomas Cook, select the check rate, currency type, forex amount and denomination, and enter your communication details to get a quote. After that, complete the online payment and choose the preferred delivery method. Soon, you will receive the order receipt and your foreign currency for the Bangkok trip.

The transfer from Domestic and International was a bit confusing but I am easily confused. I did not eat any food, but the food on the other leg was decent. It was nice they turned the lights off on the night flight. The plane was in good shape, but was a little cramped in economy and I am small. They gave me a customs form to fill out and nobody looked at it as I went through customs. Not a bad flight.
My case was missing a wheel on arrival Heathrow and the staff were unhelpful when i tried to get some compensation stating it was not sufficient damage, i only wish that they at some point have to deal with the same situation it put me in, maybe they would change their attitude but overall it was a good flight
The aircraft was really old, the staff demotivated and the overall United airline service is horrible
Increase the number of available films, including variety. All other aspects were great.
food poor i said chiken i got pack a pow breakfast lousey .job to explain wot it was ...
After going back and forth with the airline, they never reimbursed the airline tickets. Went around asking multiple people how to get reimbursed and kept getting put back, not satisfied with their customer service.
No working jet bridge to deplane, with priority customers deplaning last. Followed by bus to terminal.
Efficient like all the other flights with them. An outstanding budget airline!
Excellent service. departed on time, and arrived ahead of schedule. The whole restrictions around no food/drink is a bit weird even with Covid. Also, no mobiles and iPad use during takeoff and landing is very 2006!
Excellent experience and now my preferred airline. Even a fantastic meal with dessert in a 2 hour flight.
off late the crew and the air in the flight is becoming that of a budget airline not the earlier Vistara .
It wasn't clear from where to board flight international or domestic Airport
Information was not clear from where to check in international or domestic Airport at Ahmedabad.
The deplaning experience was bad, since they did not get the aerobridge at Madras on arrival and the bus felt like a local train during office hour rush
i bought a biz class fare but a few days before vistara always changes my biz class flight to economy .. happened to me 4 times .. seated could be wider .. boarding could be more organized .. crew did their best but not enough resources all in all very poor experience
Qatar said few times that the luggage will be at the final destination but they were wrong. Please check where your port of entry is at the destination. This is where the luggage would be. The food was terrible.
Comfortable seats, service, food and responses of crews member was polite and way they were talking with customer was very professional.
They need to be more accommodative when folks have a connecting flight and that too under the same ownership.
I have been taken about 500 flights over the last 22 years or so and I would say that in terms of cleanliness and interior maintenance this particular plane was by far the poorest one I had. The upholstery and carpet was downright dirty and poor. Practically every single video system was nonfunctional. Practically every single food tray was bent and could not hold the food tray. On and on. Its a joke to even be asking feedback. Air Indi needs to be embarrassed to be putting out this level of service.
I like nothing, we couldn’t utilize your booking. Unfortunately I lost my money with you.
No frills means no frills... I just got on the plane and flew. That's all. Nothing more and nothing less. Or I did buy some water, they took cash only! LOL
First the flight delayed 1 hour ND then when we suppose to landing the pilot decided not to land at the chiang Mai Airport but the chiang rai airport
On time boarding, proper information, friendly and cordial approach of staff, particularly crew members and the most important timely available of checked in baggage after arrival.
Air India need a big change of in all departments.
Old fittings. Went business class. Staff not very considerate regards comfort.
Very old plane. Broken tray tables n seats. Entertainment system super slow to operate and very little content.
Service was good, crew response was prompt. The baked fish and Malay fish as well as the sauces with them were bland.
The aircraft was very old, felt like poor economy seats. Entertainment was not working. Plug point was broken. For the coat of a business class ticket, I was very disappointed and dissatisfied. Crew on flight to Mumbai were good, on way back they were mediocre
Bathrooms were horrible. No cleaning and floor was full of tissues. Understand that passengers responsibility to keep it clean but crew should check if tissues are there or not. Also, they announced that baggage will be at one carousel but came to a different one.
Broken food table, broken entertainment system, broken remote. Cracks on seat plastics here and there.
Upgradation in our flight seats made us happy. But the long time to catch connecting flight from Bombay to Hyderabad could have been avoided or shortened. Our was AI 116 from JFK NY to Bombay & A1619 from Mumbai to Hyd.
No first drink available for 10 hours so make it easy for beer or wine
