Is Envoy Air a Good or Bad Airline? (9 Pros & 4 Cons)

Envoy Air, formerly American Eagle, is the largest regional airline operating under the American Airlines brand. But is it a trustworthy airline?

We all understand that Envoy, like any other airline, must have advantages and disadvantages of its own.

This article will examine competitive pricing, easy connections to limited route networks, and potential delays. Join us as we explore these pros and cons.

  • Here’s if Envoy Air is a good Airline

Being a subsidiary of American Airlines, Envoy Air operates a vast network of regional flights that link smaller cities with essential hubs. For travelers using American Airlines flights, the airline offers easy connections. It also has a solid safety record and hires crew and pilots with experience.

Affiliation with American Airlines

Extensive route network, competitive fares, convenient connections, safety record, carry-on baggage, pet – policy, shorter security lines, wi-fi availability, limited legroom, restricted overhead storage, limited onboard amenities, potentially noisy and vibrating cabin, alternatives to envoy air.

9 Pros Why Envoy Air is a Good Airline

Through American Airlines’ loyalty program, Envoy Air, an American Airlines subsidiary, allows travelers to earn and use frequent flier miles.

As a result, whenever you fly with Envoy Air, you can accumulate miles redeemed for future trips, seat upgrades, or other benefits associated with flying.

There are benefits to being a part of a more extensive airline network. Passengers can access a more fantastic choice of destinations and enjoy smooth connections thanks to Envoy Air.

This means that, despite Envoy Air operating on regional flights, customers can swiftly connect to American Airlines’ mainline flights to reach their final destinations.

Envoy Air operates a vast network of routes, especially to regional airports. It runs over 1,000 daily flights to more than 150 US, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and South America locations.

Envoy Air is a minor airline specializing in offering flights to places in the region that more prominent airlines might not reach.

As a result, people can travel more conveniently to their ultimate destinations without making numerous transfers or long journeys. Envoy Air makes it possible to go to less well-known or remote locations that might not have direct service from big airlines.

Additionally, flying with Envoy Air can save passengers time and effort. There is no need for lengthy ground transportation to reach their desired destinations.

Instead, they can take advantage of the ease of traveling directly to smaller airports, which are frequently situated closer to their desired ultimate destinations.

Envoy Air is a popular alternative for travelers on a tight budget because of its reputation as a minor airline that offers inexpensive travel options.

Regional airlines like Envoy Air frequently have cheaper operational costs than significant airlines.

They can provide passengers with competitive fares thanks to this cost advantage. Envoy Air makes air travel more accessible and financially responsible for more individuals by maintaining affordable ticket costs.

For passengers who are ready to book far in advance or are flexible with their travel dates, inexpensive fares can be especially advantageous.

Passengers can save money on their flights by utilizing the low-cost prices provided by Envoy Air and putting those savings toward other elements of their trip.

Envoy Air strategically schedules flights to provide seamless connections to American Airlines’ mainline flights.

When planning their itineraries, Envoy Air takes into consideration the schedules of American Airlines’ mainline flights, ensuring that there is sufficient time for passengers to transfer between flights without undue stress or long layovers.

This means that passengers can enjoy a smooth and efficient travel experience with minimal waiting times between flights.

Envoy Air allows passengers to reach their final destinations more efficiently by offering convenient connections.

Instead of waiting for extended periods or navigating complex transfer processes, passengers can seamlessly transition from an Envoy Air regional flight to an American Airlines mainline flight, saving time and effort.

The convenient connections provided by Envoy Air are particularly beneficial for travelers who are planning multi-leg journeys or have tight schedules.

When you want to fly, you first consider the safety record of the airline you wish to book. Envoy has a strong record.

Being an affiliate of American Airlines, it has to keep the same standards as the parent airline. Also, it adheres to the strict safety regulations established by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

By strictly following all safety rules and procedures, Envoy Air puts the safety of its passengers and staff first.

This calls for thorough training programs for the airline’s pilots and cabin personnel, frequent inspections of the aircraft, and strict adherence to safety regulations while in the air.

Envoy Air also benefits from being an affiliate of American Airlines, which has a long history of dependability and safety. Envoy Air follows the same safety guidelines and procedures as its parent firm.

Passengers on Envoy Air are allowed to bring on board carry-on baggage, plus one personal item such as a handbag or small backpack.

This carry-on bag should fit in the overhead storage space or under the seat in front of you.

But your bag should not exceed 114 centimetres in width, length and height, including the wheels and handles.

For other items like musical instruments that fit in the Envoy Air overhead compartment or under-seat space available at boarding time.

Envoy Air accepts cats and dogs as checked baggage. The pet must be inside a container to be transported as checked baggage.

However, it’s important to note that there are certain restrictions and guidelines regarding the size and weight of the pet, as well as the type of carrier allowed.

Regional airports often have fewer aircraft and fewer people passing their security checks than significant airports.

This leads to quicker and more efficient security screening processes for passengers.

With shorter security lines, passengers flying with Envoy Air experience reduced wait times and a smoother transition from the check-in area to the boarding gate.

Envoy has an onboard Wi-Fi service that allows passengers to stay connected. They can browse, check their emails, and send and receive messages.

4 Cons Envoy Air is a Bad Airline

Smaller aircraft like Envoy Air often offer less legroom than larger planes. This may worry travelers prioritizing comfort on their flights, especially on longer trips.

Finding a comfortable seated posture may be more difficult due to the restricted legroom, especially for taller people.

Smaller aircraft often have limited overhead storage space. This can be problematic if you travel with carry-on luggage or personal items you prefer to keep within reach during the flight.

Passengers may need to stow their belongings in the overhead compartments located further away from their seats or under the seats in front of them, which can be inconvenient.

Smaller aircraft may have fewer onboard amenities compared to larger planes.

This can include limited or no in-flight entertainment systems, reduced food and beverage options, and fewer lavatories.

Passengers who value these amenities may find the experience less enjoyable or convenient.

Smaller aircraft are noisier and may experience more flight vibrations than larger planes.

This can be attributed to factors such as the proximity of the engines to the cabin and the overall design of the aircraft.

The noise and vibrations may bother some passengers, particularly those sensitive to such stimuli or prefer a quieter and smoother flight experience.

SkyWest Airlines: SkyWest Airlines is another regional airline that operates through alliances with United Airlines , Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, and Alaska Airlines. They offer regional flights to numerous destinations across the United States.

Gem Air: Air is An American commuter airline with its headquarters in Salmon, Idaho. It specializes in offering scheduled and charter flights to remote areas.

Gojet Airlines : Gojet Airlines is a regional carrier for United Airlines. A regional carrier that flies for United Airlines and uses the United Airlines name. It operates a fleet of regional planes and offers service to several locations around the US.

Hello everybody,

Like I said I'm new at traveling and I tend to worry about everything and I want everything to be planned carefully so that I don't miss a flight and whatnot.

The plan is the following:

1- Once I receive my visa, I'll book my flight . Looking at my options it seems like I can either fly from the Montreal airport and pay $1400-1500 for a two-way, one-stop flight to Moscow, or take a bus down to NYC, then another bus to the airport ($120-160 each way) and $1000 for a one stop flight to Moscow. Which option would you guys prefer? I like to avoid dealing with airports, so I'm thinking going down to NYC by Greyhound bus and getting to the airport by bus or taxi well in advance is better than a long layover in a random airport...

2- Get to Moscow, get registered at my hotel. I'll spend 5 days in Moscow, and then fly to Novosibirsk. Should I foresee any issue with flying internally?

3- Fly back to Moscow, get to airport, fly back, Greyhound back to Montreal.

Any tips? I've never traveled solo, and I'm thinking Russia isn't beginner-grade travel for a Canadian dude, so any advice is appreciated. Someone was super helpful in DMs last time I posted and that was really cool.

I'm not sure I can edit my previous post but some of the questions I'm wondering about are, should I rely on bringing US cash to get paper rubles to pay for things, or is it ok to bring a credit card?

' class=

As of now, you can either use your credit card in many places in Russia, or get cash from ATM. But who knows what happen in July. Some backup USD cash won't hurt anyway.

travel planner envoy

> is it ok to bring a credit card?

you should. Visa/Master cards used everywhere excepted small kiosks and street vendors. Cash at an ATM of airport upon arrival.

> I'm thinking Russia isn't beginner-grade travel for a Canadian dude

I am quite familiar with Montréal, Québec-Ville, Baie-Saint-Paul and few countryside spots, and from my yuropan pov. Canada features here and there some weird americanisms, but Russia is mostly plain Europe. It feels home. In short I experience more cultural and practical lags when I am in Canada but very few when I am in Russia. Can be mindset and cultural patterns but also just many very small trivial things, like tipping for instance, or even bankomats.

Norwegian have very cheap flights Oslo - New York starting at 1156 NOK, depending the period of the year, 1156 krona are ~148 USD, most tickets more in the ~250 USD (one way) bought in advance.I don't have personal experience of these flights .

I know from experience tickets Oslo-MSK are cheap when bought in advance on Aeroflot site. If there are good rates and convenient transit times, then a little layover in Oslo airport, newly expanded, is extremely relaxing, as the new airport is now big but without the huge traffic of main european hubs. Plenty of room and very quiet.

Finnair is generally relatively cheap for a main national airline yet with lot of international routes, maybe Toronto or Montréal? and Helsinki airport is also more relaxed than main european hubs (even if not roomy and quiet like the new Oslo airport), so it may also be an interesting alternative.

-------------

random practical aspects I can think of:

- the type of your mobile phone. The ones tied with plans sold by canadian att/bell (also maybe virgin) may not work in Europe. If you have already been in Europe and your mobile phone was working then it will work the same in Russia.

- bank card. It seems nowadays (last time I was in Montréal was Easter last year) canadians do use card with chip&pin. This is the standard in Russia, stripe only card and earlier kind of chip+pin may be problematic at some points, because russian banks have last technological implementations (also NFC widespread).

- mobile 4G internet is very cheap, contrary to the silly canadian rates. Buy a sim loaded with a generous plan upon arrival, it will be very handy.

you could buy tickets long time in advance, probability for being denied visa, if you are a regular guy, is infinitesimal.

travel planner envoy

Or Toronto - I checked flights some time ago, they never were anything over $ 500

@landstrykere,

"Regular tourists" do not choose Novosibirsk for their first visit...

// Any tips?

Don't be surprised that most of people around you don't speak a word of English. For some visitors from North America it is the real surprise, I don't know why, maybe they have never heard of the existence of other languages on Earth (joke)

landstrykere, merci beaucoup pour ta réponse, je prend ça en considération!

MuscoviteVT, well it'll be Moscow and then Novosibirsk to hang out with friends.

andres16, yeah I don't expect to be able to use English very much outside of Moscow (and even there). I'll have my friends helping me to get around.

Thanks everybody for your answers, I really appreciate

travel planner envoy

I would personally avoid US and JFK at any cost...while usually in my frequent trips I somehow manage to get out of JFK on time, coming back, after being delayed for a day on 3 of my last 4 tries, I avoid this like the plague. The issue is this is about the most horrible area on earth, with 3 major airports, limited air space, and airports that seem to shut down at the first sign of a slight drizzle...

Still, 9-hour bus ride is exhausting, for me anyway. Connection in Europe is usually no problem. I go quite frequently and never missed my connection. Just make sure it's at least 2 hours. I even prefer 5-6 hours, so I could go out and explore a city in Europe.

beachpotato2017, you didn't misunderstand, I misspoke, I did say one stop flight from NYC and I meant direct flight . Some of the flights I've been offered had 50 minutes layovers which is pretty bad... And the cheaper ones have layovers with different airlines which I don't think I want to do.

Thanks everybody once again :). Still open to ideas and suggestions.

US says it takes seriously reports of misbehavior by its envoy to Singapore

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The White House on Friday said the U.S. government was taking seriously an internal watchdog report that the U.S. ambassador to Singapore threatened his staff and failed to submit about $48,000 in travel expenses on time or with proper documentation.

Ambassador Jonathan Kaplan, a political appointee, had poor relations with some Singaporean ministries and was often unprepared on issues, the State Department's Office of Inspector General (OIG) said in a report.

"OIG found the ambassador did not model integrity, plan strategically, collaborate, or communicate," it said, urging the State Department to assess his leadership and management and, if appropriate, "take corrective action."

"Numerous staff described a fear, and even direct threats, of reprisal from the Ambassador," it said. "They described his mannerisms with personnel as belittling and intimidating."

The report noted the ambassador's view that "although there had been a difficult transition when he assumed his position, morale had improved under his leadership, and he was confident that he had gained the trust" of his staff.

"The president always wants his representatives ... to manage people with dignity and respect," White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told reporters. "He's comfortable that the State Department is taking this seriously."

The report faulted Kaplan, an entrepreneur, for failing to follow procedures in hiring consultants who submitted bills of $5,650 for "a furniture research project" and of $4,250 to redesign the embassy's cafeteria.

The report found Kaplan did not follow many of the State Department's travel policies, failing to use a travel agency under contract with the U.S. government and to comply with a U.S. law requiring the use of U.S. carriers.

"OIG found approximately $48,000 worth of outstanding travel obligations extending back to December 2021 that either were not submitted for reimbursement or lacked sufficient supporting documentation to pay the travel claim," it said.

China, once again, sending special envoy to Russia, Ukraine for talks

In an effort to end the war in Ukraine, China is once again sending a high-ranking diplomat, Li Hui, the special envoy for Eurasia, to Russia, Ukraine and major European capitals.

His is set to travel to Ukraine, Russia, and to meet with EU representatives in Brussels beginning on Saturday, the Foreign Ministry in Beijing announced on Wednesday.

Li is also planning to visit Poland, France, and Germany.

"Over the past two years, we have never given up our peace efforts and never stopped advocating for dialogue," said the spokesperson for the Beijing Foreign Ministry, Mao Ning.

The upcoming trip is described as "the second round of shuttle diplomacy to promote a political solution to the Ukrainian crisis."

Li first travelled to Ukraine last May and also held talks in Moscow, but without visible progress.

Previously, in February 2023, China presented a position paper on the war in Ukraine, calling for respect for sovereignty, a ceasefire, and the resumption of peace negotiations.

Since the start of the conflict two years ago, Beijing has repeatedly emphasized its efforts to engage in negotiations.

But critics accuse China of actually supporting Russian President Vladimir Putin.
