Boston’s first craft distillery since Prohibition, Bully Boy Distillers makes the full range of artisan spirits—from crystal-clear Vodka, Estate Gin, and White Whiskey to can’t-miss bottled and canned cocktails. Award-winning dark rums, such as Boston Rum and The Rum Cooperative blends, nod to New England’s rich history of rum production and involvement in the molasses trade. Find Bully Boy’s modern speakeasy -style Tasting Room in Roxbury and pull up to the bar for seasonal craft cocktails. Distillery tours can also be scheduled in advance.

The “short path” in question refers to this spirit-maker’s technique of using a pot still, which shortens the distance between evaporation and condensing to concentrate flavors. But it could also refer to the short distance between Short Path Distillery and Everett breweries Night Shift and Bone Up, a three-stop itinerary which makes for a fun day for any craft food and drink fan. Short Path has a bar serving up snacks and seasonal cocktails made with an impressive range of spirits brewed in small batches. Try everything from various gins to Greek-style ouzo to a Scotch-like local peated whiskey.

GrandTen Distilling debuted nearly 10 years ago with Wire Works American Gin, a balanced botanical blend that’s versatile for any number of cocktail combinations. Since then, the craft-distilled repertoire has grown with numerous creative cordials and spirits, including Fire Puncher pepper vodka, South Boston Irish Whiskey, and the acclaimed Amandine barrel-aged almond liqueur, a bar cart essential for making a Mai Tai with all-local ingredients. Visit this South Boston distillery for tours, tastings, and a full-service bar that shakes up (and stirs) craft cocktails on-site and to-go . 

This beautiful venue on the harbor in Dorchester celebrates spirits and the city of Boston equally. Founded by Rhonda Kallman, a pioneering woman in the craft beverage industry (the cofounder of Boston Beer Company), Boston Harbor Distillery creates small-batch alcohol in honor of historic entrepreneurs, such as Putnam Rye Whiskey, named for the horseshoe-nail tycoon who originally built the waterfront factory. The tasting room gift shop also offers local food and drink, like rum- and whiskey-infused Goodnow Chocolate bars, and a line of 84-proof distilled Boston Beer.

Unlike the Boston distilleries on this list that craft a wide selection of spirits, Privateer Rum is uniquely focused on molasses-derived alcohol. (Even their Tiki Gin begins as cane sugar.) That dedication has paid off: Offerings like Navy Yard and New England White Rum are literally world-renowned and beloved by bartenders locally . Based in Ipswich, Privateer has a destination-worthy tasting room, which plans to reopen this spring for monthly distillery tours led by Privateer founder Andrew Cabot . In the meantime, Privateer Rum is worth seeking out at your favorite bottle shops and bars.

Friday Night Flights

The second is Friday Night Flights, during which our visitors will have the opportunity to sample*** our full range of products, including special, limited-run spirits that cannot be found anywhere else. To ensure a lively and intimate experience, we will initially limit seating to ten reservations.

With American Single Malt, Boston Harbor Distillery's first expression, making news recently regarding its official recognition BHD Head Distiller and Blender, John Stark, will take a look back and compare the newest entry into America's whiskey catalog to the original, Rye. He'll chat with BHD New England Sales Manager, Dan Gazaille, about why Rye and American Single Malt are the focus for Boston Harbor Distillery and what they see as the future for both categories.

Masterclasses are 30 minutes. You may choose one class with your paid ticket to Whiskies of theWorld.·When checking in to attend the Masterclass, please have your ticket ready to be scanned. Pre-Civil War era restored building located at The Port on Boston Harbor

Located at The Port on Boston Harbor in Dorchester, BHD revived an entrepreneurial center from the mid-1800s. Boston Harbor Distillery creates proprietary craft spirits that integrate rich history, distinctive experiences and beverage culture into each bottle it produces. Housed in a pre-Civil War era building overlooking Boston Harbor, the Distillery serves as both a distilling facility and an event space, tasting room and mercantile with essential tools and accessories for at-home bartenders, cultivating a community through classes, literature and education. The Products Boston Harbor Distillery pulls inspiration from New England's bounty of seasonal tastes to distill and bottle their own blended creations that are branded with the names of early Massachusetts entrepreneurs who once occupied the same site: SS Putnam Nail Factory, George Lawley & Son Shipbuilders and Seymour's Ice Cream. Spirit of Boston is distilled from finished Samuel Adams beer varieties. Open to the Public: Saturdays from 2-8pm for tours, tastings, and cocktails Guided tours include: history of the location, distillery and spirits, a description and tasting of our spirits and an up-close look at how and where we make BHD spirits. Tour Times: 2:30, 3:15, 4:00, 4:45, 5:30, 6:15, 7:00 (limited to 20 people per tour; first come, first serve) Cost: $10 per person

We did a tour and tasting which was fantastic. Friendly and knowledgeable tour guide, a wide selection of spirits to try, and great cocktails. Would definitely recommend!

Wife and I found this place on a weekend trip to Boston. It’s a little out-of-the-way but the Uber driver had no difficulty getting us there. Historic old building converted into a beautiful distillery. Tasting tour was led by the owner and founder. she was incredibly knowledgeable about the product. Their Putnam single malt whiskey, compared to some of the best scotches I have ever sampled. The Demon Seed was amazing- a must try. Great destination if you’re visiting greater Boston.

This place NAILS it on so many levels. Plenty of room, great setup, music offered on weekend night.....Just a "touch slow" at times but DEFINITELY coming back!

We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door. We were invited to hang our coats in the closet in the hallway, which made us feel quite at home. We then went to the bar to explore and the friendly bartender chatted with us about the craft cocktails available and answered our questions. (we chose to delay our cocktails until later). We were invited to sit and wait for our tour to begin. There was a variety of seating options from regular restaurant style chairs to padded easy chairs. The tour began with an interesting history of the building and tastes of the whiskeys. We then went into the production area and learned about the distillation process and had samples of the gin (different and delicious) and rums. Our tour concluded in the barrel room, where we sat in comfortable padded chairs, tasted the unique spirits BHD offers (I highly recommend the Demon Seed)! and heard more of the very interesting story of how the Distillery came to be and the future plans. It was a very relaxed atmosphere and Rhonda was a fantastic tour guide.
