2021 porsche cayenne gts

Select a year

  • Lows Ride can be stiff, limited cubby storage, custom options can add up.
  • Verdict The Cayenne is the driving enthusiast's first choice for a luxury SUV.

What's New for 2021?

Porsche spices up the 2021 Cayenne lineup with the return of the GTS model , which has a 460-hp twin-turbo V-8. Along with more desirable standard features, it'll also benefit from a lowered suspension and other performance hardware. The 2021 GTS is the top-of-the-line version of the regular Cayenne, but it's just as much a gateway to the high-powered Turbo variants (reviewed separately). The Cayenne E-Hybrid also introduces a larger battery that now boasts a capacity of 17.9 kWh versus 14.1. Porsche also says it changed the battery's state of charge to make more efficient use of the gas engine, which helps increase the life of the pack.

Pricing and Which One to Buy

The price of the 2021 Porsche Cayenne starts at $68,850 and goes up to $108,650 depending on the trim and options.

The new GTS is a compelling option since it's the only non-Turbo variant with a V-8. However, we're very fond of the normal Cayenne, which is about $40,000 cheaper and still impressively quick. It already comes with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10-speaker stereo, and a Wi-Fi hotspot—among other popular equipment—and our preferred configuration would expand upon that with thoughtful options. We'd add the Premium package that includes 14-way power front seats, adaptive LED headlights, blind-spot monitoring, a more powerful Bose surround-sound system, hands-free passive entry, heated front seats, and a panoramic sunroof. We'd also optimize its on-road performance and off-road capabilities with the Sport Chrono package (expanded drive modes and launch control, the Off-Road package (extra underbody protection and additional displays), and the adaptive air suspension. Individual options that would improve its style and increase its luxury include a set of 20-inch wheels, four-zone climate control, a heated steering wheel, a head-up display, massaging front seats, and soft-close doors.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance

If you want more giddy-up than what the base Cayenne's 335-hp turbo six provides, the 434-hp Cayenne S offers an even zestier setup courtesy of its twin-turbo V-6. The plug-in hybrid ( called the E-Hybrid ) marries an electric motor and a turbocharged V-6 for a combined 455 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. The Cayenne GTS boasts a 460-hp twin-turbo V-8 with the best-sounding exhaust note and breathtaking acceleration. All engines pair with an astute eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. While making anything that weighs more than two tons move gracefully is challenging, the engineers in Stuttgart were successful with the Cayenne. The S model that we tested moved quietly and steadily at highway speeds before seamlessly transitioning to twisty sections, where it showcased surprising athleticism for its size. However, the largest rollers diminish its ride quality on uneven roads. Most models have performance options that include adaptive dampers with or without an adjustable air suspension, four-wheel steering for improved maneuverability, and active anti-roll bars for flatter cornering. The Cayenne's brakes can be upgraded to Porsche's tungsten-coated iron rotors (called Porsche Surface Coated Brakes, or PSCB) or costly carbon-ceramic stoppers. The base model we tested had neither setup nor still needed only 159 feet to stop from 70 mph.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG

The EPA estimates the 2021 Cayenne earns 19 mpg city and 23 highway, the more powerful Cayenne S is rated at 18 mpg city and 22 highway, and the GTS nets 15 mpg city and 19 highway. The base Cayenne's EPA combined fuel economy is slightly behind rivals such as the BMW X5 and the Volvo XC90 when they are equipped with similar powertrains. The Cayenne S coupe we evaluated on our 75-mph highway fuel-economy route, which is part of our extensive testing regimen , earned 25 mpg—matching the E-Hybrid we tested. Despite its unimpressive highway number, the latter is the most eco-friendly option for folks who live in urban areas.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

Porsche essentially provides a blank canvas inside the Cayenne for customers to outfit as they see fit. Everything from the interior trim to the seatbelt colors to the surface materials can be individually selected. The driver faces a snazzy gauge cluster with an analog tachometer flanked by two 7.0-inch screens that display selectable information. In addition to traditional options such as heated and ventilated front and rear seats, the Cayenne offers desirable upgrades, including more supportive seats, massaging front seats, four-zone climate control, and more. Whereas the rival Audi Q7 and the Volvo XC90 have three rows, the Porsche has only two. Still, its back seat is adjustable and provides plenty of stretch-out space. The Cayenne entices Porsche enthusiasts with ample passenger capacity and cargo volume, which are obviously far greater than any 911's. It's the largest Porsche SUV and provides 27 cubic feet of cargo room behind the rear seats and up to 60 cubes with the seats folded flat. Interior cubby storage is unremarkable, with most small items seeking refuge in the door pockets or the shallow center-console bin. Every Cayenne includes a power-operated liftgate; the optional passive-entry system (called Comfort Access) allows it to be opened or closed with a foot gesture.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The infotainment system uses a standard 12.3-inch touchscreen mounted in the middle of the dashboard. Its slick interface includes a configurable home menu and many personalized settings. While the system was responsive and easy to operate during our testing, the screen attracted smudges. A rotary controller would help reduce distractions during driving. Every Cayenne has Porsche Connect Plus, which includes a Wi-Fi hotspot and Apple CarPlay capability (Android Auto is noticeably absent). A set of upgraded audio systems includes a 14-speaker Bose unit or a much pricier Burmester setup that pumps 1455 watts through 21 speakers. An available rear-seat entertainment system attaches two 10.0-inch displays to the back of the front-seat headrests.

Safety and Driver-Assistance Features

The 2021 Cayenne hasn't been crash tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration ( NHTSA ) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety ( IIHS ). However, the Cayenne is available with a bevy of driver-assistance technology to help keep occupants safe. Every model has forward-collision warning and parking sensors at both ends. It even supports night vision with an optional infrared camera. Key safety features include:

  • Available adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go technology
  • Available blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert
  • Available lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist

Warranty and Maintenance Coverage

Porsche provides a competitive limited and powertrain warranty. However, both BMW and Volvo provide lengthier coverage for complimentary scheduled maintenance.

  • Limited warranty covers four years or 50,000 miles
  • Powertrain warranty covers four years or 50,000 miles
  • Complimentary maintenance is covered for one year or 10,000 miles

How does the Porsche Cayenne’s adaptive cruise control system work?

Xcel

The Porsche Cayenne’s adaptive cruise control system, known as Porsche Active Safe (PAS), uses radar technology to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead.

Here’s how it works:

1. Radar Sensors: The Cayenne is equipped with radar sensors located behind the front grille. These sensors continuously scan the road ahead, measuring the distance and relative speed of the vehicle in front.

2. Speed and Distance Setting: The driver can set the desired speed and distance from the vehicle ahead using the controls on the steering wheel or infotainment system. The system allows for a distance ranging from short to long.

3. Automatic Speed Adjustment: Once the adaptive cruise control system is activated, the Cayenne will automatically adjust its speed to maintain the desired distance from the vehicle ahead. If the vehicle in front slows down, the Cayenne will decelerate accordingly. If the road ahead is clear, it will accelerate back to the set speed.

4. Braking and Acceleration: The system can apply the brakes to slow down the Cayenne when necessary, and it can also accelerate the vehicle back up to the set speed once the road is clear.

5. Safety Features: Porsche Active Safe includes additional safety features. For example, if the vehicle ahead suddenly stops, the system can provide visual and audible warnings to alert the driver. In some cases, it can even initiate emergency braking to avoid a collision.

It’s important to note that the driver still has control over the vehicle and can override the system at any time by applying the brakes or accelerating manually. The adaptive cruise control system is designed to assist the driver and enhance safety during highway driving.

One of the many upgrades we offer at Revolution Porsche is a retrofit cruise control solution.

' title=

You may well wonder whether a function to limit and control speed really has any place in a sports car that was designed for an exhilarating driving experience, but conditions for motorists have changed in recent years.

The introduction of average speed cameras on motorways, dual carriageways and in long sections of roadworks have made cruise control an attractive option for Porsche drivers.

Rather than trusting your right foot and having to check the speedo every few hundred yards, switching on the cruise control for the duration of the speed check area means you can relax and forget about the possibility of picking up a £100 fine and three points on your licence.

With more than 300 miles of the country’s roads being converted into ‘smart motorways’ with variable speed limits closely monitored by cameras, the chances of being fined for a momentary lapse in concentration are set to increase – particularly as the cameras are usually in operation 24 hours a day.

While the ‘smart motorways’ are a good idea for traffic management on stretches that are notoriously busy, some motorists have complained that they spend too much time focusing on the speedometer instead of the road while driving through them. The ability to control their speed with a quick adjustment of the cruise control stalk helps to avoid that distraction.

Avoiding speeding fines and points is not the only benefit of installing retrofit cruise control, as equipment manufacturers also claim the systems help to reduce driver fatigue and improve fuel efficiency. But, as you’ve chosen to buy a Porsche 911 or Boxster, we think we know which issue will be the most important for you.

At Revolution Porsche we regularly install retrofit cruise control to a wide range of Porsche models, helping to give our customers peace of mind that they won’t be caught out by speed cameras in controlled areas.

We supply and fit genuine Porsche cruise control stalks for:

  • 996 C2 + C4 + Turbo (2002-2004): £469
  • Boxster (2003-2004): £469

Add £50 to all the above prices if the 4 stalk including onboard computer and cruise is installed. These are the genuine Porsche stalk controls; we do not fit the cheaper single dash mounted button type.

  • Gen 1 and 2 987/Cayman and 997: £450
  • 981 Boxster/Cayman and 991:£475
  • Colour Coded leather cover £POA

All prices are subject to VAT.

Physical vs Virtual/Haptic Centre Console Buttons

Shookie

  • Add to quote

Interested in peoples thoughts as to your preference and why. My 981 has a centre console with physical buttons and I love it, there’s only a few buttons and it all works great. When we went SUV shopping however, my Mrs had a case of physical button overload, the centre consoles of dealer specced cars having a mix of physical buttons along with a bunch of blank buttons thrown in - all looked a bit messy. So Mrs won the battle and we are ordering a 22. On YouTube and this forum there seems to be quite a fan club of the physical buttons though. Are the haptic ones that bad?

Papeto

Not certain on the underlying technology that Porsche adapted on haptic touch. Haptic touch may exhibit a slight delay as compared to 3D Touch or physical button. People usually preferred the faster response from physical button. Physical buttons also feel more premium and less reflection or glare from sun light. If Porsche offers anit-glare treatment on the touch panel, it may help on that.

jsind17

Physical buttons for sure. Had a Cayenne loaner and did not like it. I like knowing exactly where the buttons are.

Run Buh

Wife has a 2019 Cayenne S, and I have a 2021 Macan GTS (and we had a 2014 Cayenne before that). For the most part, they're really not that different, but I find the physical buttons easier to locate by "feel". I don't press them THAT much, except for the HVAC controls, which I have to look at either way to see the temp/fan I'm adjusting (we don't use the automatic setting). If you think you're going to use sport mode a lot, then be sure to get Sport Chrono so you have the steering wheel control.

do u think u can put xpel/3m on the haptic? or will that interfere with sensitvity?

Works fine in my wife's 2019 Cayenne S that we use to haul around Great Danes. I have a protective "glass" on the touch screen (from Amazon), and XPEL on the center console "buttons".

Noah Fect

I don't care so much about the console buttons as I do about the rest of the controls. Somehow, some people who are dangerously incompetent appear to have been given substantial influence over product design at Porsche, resulting in things like the Homelink functionality being moved to a menu in the 992. If I had to monkey with a menu to open and close my garage door, or rely on some kind of half-assed Rube Goldberg GPS hackery to do it for me, I'd start Googling "How to commit insurance fraud." That kind of thing is why I bought my 95B.2 when I did -- not (just) to avoid the console redesign.

  • I'm glad I have an '18, with the ever-present, single-touch, button(s).
  • If I had to delve into a menu to open the garage door, I think I'd go back to having an opener clipped to the passenger visor.

Yes, it's buried. There are no dedicated Homelink buttons in a 992. You can map it to your joker button, but my understanding is that this only calls up the Homelink gadget on the PCM, which you then have to touch. A 911 designed by smart people who take a bus to work.

To the OP: There has indeed been lots of fussing and '21 ordering reported on this and other forums. I get it, but it's not difficult to adjust to it. They took the buttons off our phones, too. And they took most of the buttons out of today's jet aircraft cockpits, too. Takes a few weeks to get used to the glass, but once familiar I find it useful. We have a 20 Cayenne and a Q8, and I do carry a microfiber rag in my door pocket and find a quick dust or smudge buff keeps things looking nice. If a screen protector yielded a more matte appearance and remained easy to read I might try it.

I have lived with the full haptics treatment in my Audi Q8 for 2 years. It works great. Reaction is immediate with positive feedback. Mapped the homelink to my steering wheel joker button and it’s immediate (hopefully works the same in the 2022 GTS I have ordered). When the screen is lit fingerprints don’t really show. When the screen is off they show but I’m out of the car so don’t see it. I wipe them clean with a microfibre towel once every couple weeks…takes 10 seconds. I actually waited for this change to order the Macan.

///Bruce

The ol' Digital vs. Analog debate, huh? I was given a 'new' base model Cayenne until my '18 TT get's out of the shop. IMO, I prefer the analog switches.

Nope. The OP asked about them. IMHO, once embraced this becomes the new way we do it. Work fine for me. Not to reveal any button bias whatsoever.

2024 Porsche Cayenne Review: The Expensive Benchmark

2024 Porsche Cayenne S

  • Porsche engagement distilled into a family ride
  • Cabin tech upgrade is first class
  • V8 in Cayenne S pairs performance and a great soundtrack
  • Expensive, especially if you dip into the options
  • Five seats only

Hindsight is 20/20, but few could've predicted how well the Porsche Cayenne would be received. Initial skepticism — and outright hostility — about a sports car company diversifying into SUVs has been thoroughly upended since its original debut back in 2002, the Cayenne's sales success (and that of its soon-to-go-electric Macan little sibling) helping fund more beguiling 911 and 718 development. Now, in an update that isn't quite a new model, but kind of is, the 2024 Cayenne gets to demonstrate it's not just a cynical sales ploy.

Officially part of the third generation launched in 2017, this mid-cycle refresh proved to be more aggressive than most. While the core crash structure is carried over, there are changes pretty much everywhere else, from the bodywork to the drivetrains to the cabin and its lavish tech upgrade.

The result looks sharper and crisper, even if it's instantly recognizable as a Cayenne. Porsche's squinting LED headlamps and tush-strapping rear light bar conspire with the bolder crease lines to shed some of the visual bulk of the older versions. While this particular example is the Cayenne SUV, rather than the marketing-misnomer Coupe variant (that still has four doors and a hatchback rear but pairs that with a more aggressively curvaceous roofline), it looks more taut and compact than ever. Rest assured, though, the dimensions are basically the same as before.

Sat right in the middle of the 2024 line-up, the Cayenne S is arguably the epitome of the nameplate. Priced from $95,700 (plus $1,650 destination), it is, with the briefest scan of the options sheet, a six-figure ride in practice.

It's the options that get you

This particular Carrara White Metallic example is illustrative of that. The paint is $850; the black leather interior is a further $3,760. Budget $2,390 for the Adaptive Air Suspension and PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) system that can adjust ground clearance from 7.5 to 9.3 inches, $3,350 to upgrade the standard 20-inch alloys to these handsome 21-inch wheels, and $830 for roof rails. The tow hitch — rated for a healthy 7,700 pounds — is $660; the soft-close doors are $720; high-gloss black window trim is $400, and the puddle light projectors are a whimsical $330.

Inside, heated front seats with 8-way power adjustment are standard, along with dual-zone climate control, LED interior lighting, navigation, a wireless phone charger (now bumped up to 15W), four USB-C charging ports potent enough to charge most tablets and laptops, and a 10-speaker, 150W audio system. Spend $8,090 on the Premium Package Plus, however, and you upgrade to a panoramic glass roof, quad-zone climate control, 14-way power seats with heating front and rear, ventilation for the front seats, better ambient lighting, a Bose surround sound audio system, and a 360-degree camera with parking support.

That package also includes adaptive cruise control, but you'll pay a further $1,320 for Porsche InnoDrive, which takes road topography into account to automatically adjust cruise control speed, contributes more help in traffic jams up to 37 mph, and adds active lane-keeping assistance. All-in, with power rear window sunblinds, a heated steering wheel, and an Air Quality System, you're looking at a cool $121,440, including destination.

The V8 is back, and it's a thing of beauty

As standard is Porsche's 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 gas engine, ousting the old (and good, but not quite as glorious) 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 and delivering a more-than-healthy 468 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. It's paired with an 8-speed Tiptronic S gearbox and all-wheel drive, and the automaker says it will propel the 4,874 pound SUV from 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds.

If that's not fast enough for you — and the regular Offroad, Normal, and Sport drive modes are insufficiently flexible — the $1,110 Sport Chrono Package trims it to 4.4 seconds and throws in a Sport Plus mode. It also adds a Sport Response button to the middle of the drive mode dial on the steering wheel: jab that, and you get 20 seconds of the Cayenne S at its most giddying, ideal for overtaking or making the most of a sudden series of twists.

Even without that, the Cayenne S isn't slow. The V8 sounds great, with a refined but noticeable burble through the brushed stainless steel tailpipes, and pickup is plenty fast whether you're in Normal or Sport mode. The air suspension — replacing the standard steel springs, which Porsche now equips with adaptive dampers regardless of trim — firms up nicely from its pampering default, though there's still enough body roll in the corners to remind you that you're driving a sizable SUV. It's hard to imagine anybody feeling disappointed , however, even if the hustle and poise on offer here don't stray into outlandish or wild.

You should consider the hybrid

Porsche has more powerful Cayenne models, of course, if outlandish and/or wild are your lodestar (plus a $3,590 active roll stabilization option, not fitted to my Cayenne S), all the way up to the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid with its supercar-rivaling 729 horsepower and a frankly ridiculous 3.5 second 0-60 mph time. The coupe-only Cayenne Turbo GT  is even more excessive. I'm not saying I don't see the appeal — and the plug-in hybrid drivetrain is markedly improved in this newest-generation SUV, with a bigger battery and more performance — but anybody suggesting the Cayenne S is insufficient in some way seems deeply misguided.

In fact, the strongest argument against this "S" model is the ever-so-slightly-cheaper 2024 Cayenne E-Hybrid. $4k less, it's down a mere five horsepower but is actually a tenth of a second faster in the 0-60 mph dash. Top speed is "only" 158 mph, versus the Cayenne S's 169 mph, a shortfall which seems irrelevant compared to the convenience of driving on electric-only power.

Though the EV range of the Cayenne PHEV doesn't match that of the upcoming electric Macan , there's no denying that even just a little silent wafting suits the idea of a luxury SUV nicely. It should also help with the economy. The EPA says the Cayenne S could see 15 mpg in the city, 21 mpg on the highway, and 17 mpg combined; my own mixed driving clocked in at just over 15 mpg.

A Taycan-inspired cabin tech glow-up

Porsche buyers aren't likely to be afraid of a little premium gasoline, though, and from behind the wheel, it's easy to see why the Cayenne has become the benchmark for high-end, low-fuss people-moving among those who can afford it. The refresh's big tech update illustrates that nicely, with a new 12.6-inch curved driver display and 12.3-inch center touchscreen, all running the PCM 6.0 infotainment platform.

That can be as complex or as simple as you want it to be. Several driver display layouts are supported, ranging from traditional gauges through pared-back minimalism to data overload. Native apps for services like Spotify, meanwhile, might make you skip hooking up your smartphone (though there's now standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with a persistent row of shortcuts along the left side to make jumping between the native and the phone interfaces straightforward).

There are physical controls for the essentials, including climate control and a volume knob. It's a more streamlined panel — not to mention a fingerprint-hungry one, with the gloss black finish — as Porsche has done away with the big transmission selector and replaced it with a stubby lever to the right of the steering wheel. Everything feels solid and reassuringly expensive, from the metal paddle shifters through to the click of the wheel buttons, and there are plenty of storage bins and cubbies. A healthy 27.2 cu-ft of trunk space expands to 60.3 cu-ft with the rear seats folded.

Dominating the SUV sweet spot

There's plenty of tech here, but it doesn't feel in-your-face. Yes, Porsche will sell you a $1,490 head-up display, a $1,490 front passenger display (that's specially polarized so as to be invisible to the driver), and a Burmester 3D surround-sound audio system for a whopping $7,000, but none of it seems necessary. And, more important, still, the Cayenne S doesn't leave you feeling shortchanged if you don't go absolutely wild with the options sheet.

There are a handful of reasons to look elsewhere. Porsche's SUV seats five, and while a seven-seater is said to be in the pipeline , for the moment, you'll have to look elsewhere if three rows are essential. Mercedes' GLS and BMW's X7 are the most obvious alternatives there — bigger altogether than the Cayenne and less fun to drive — while Porsche's own sibling brand Audi has the undeniably appealing 2024 SQ7 that fits the bill, too.

Then there are some of Porsche's own options, which don't really seem so much at home here. The $9-10k you'll spend on ceramic composite brakes, for example, doesn't really seem necessary: the standard brakes are easily up to the job unless you're pushing harder than is probably advisable. The same goes for Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, which, for $1,500, adds an electronically-controlled rear axle diff lock to nudge power left or right as required. Again, clever, but maybe better saved for more ostensibly sporting versions of the SUV. Rear axle steering might be easier to justify, at $1,280, if the regular Cayenne didn't handle so predictably already.

2024 Porsche Cayenne Verdict

When it comes to the 2024 Cayenne, it's tough not to be reminded of the old "there are three priorities, you can pick two" adage. In Porsche's case, the selection has clearly been "luxury" and "performance"; unfortunately, that leaves "affordability" out in the cold. For anybody cross-shopping with other high-end SUVs, the spiraling potential of the Cayenne's options list could trigger conniptions. Anybody who has wandered through the build options for a 911, though, is likely to be more laissez-faire.

With time behind the wheel, it's equally tough not to conclude that Porsche's decision is the correct one. The Cayenne is the superlative sports SUV, even if its starting price should be considered a vague suggestion rather than anything close to what you'll end up paying. And, in Cayenne S form, with the return of the V8, it's difficult to argue with this combination of pace, plush, and prestige.

There are excellent, rational reasons why the hybrid Cayenne versions are more sensible, and those with home charging capabilities should absolutely consider them. Yet as sweet spots in an already well-sugared range go, the 2024 Cayenne S is ample demonstration of why Porsche's SUV not only countered its critics but, in many cases, converted them entirely.

How To Set Cruise Control On Porsche Macan?

Hi, I had to start a new topic on the ACC retrofit for the Macan because the previous thread contains no guides or technical information at all, and I didn’t want to waste my time on it.

I currently drive a 2018 2.0 base, and I’ve read about and seen examples of how non-option Macans have been successfully modified with the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Porsche Active Safe (PAS) options. They have done so successfully in Korea, China, and the US based on

The lane keep assist console button, which comes with the radar under the top part of the windshield, the conventional cruise control lever on the steering wheel, the radar sensor module, mounting and grill, and the wire harness to connect to the PCM are all required for the ACC retrofit.

The only thing lacking from my Macan is the front bumper radar sensor module, mounting, and wiring assembly. The regular cruise control lever option on the steering wheel and the lane keep assist button option are currently options. For the front sensor module and mounting, as well as the wiring harness 95B-971-073-N, which according to the Porsche product catalog is apparently for the 2018 Macan 2.0, I have seen components for sale from Germany and Porsche parts suppliers. (Read further down; you actually only need a wire connector to the CAN; you don’t need to alter the wiring harness.)

Assistance for Drivers

Numerous various driving assistance features, like as adaptive cruise control, lane keep and lane change assistance, and many others are available on the 2022 Macan. In order to help avoid collisions, the adaptive cruise control can issue speed warnings or apply the brakes. It bases the vehicle’s speed on the vehicle in front of you. The Macan can be automatically steered back into the center of the lane if it begins to veer across the line thanks to the Lane Keep and Lane Change Assist, which also assists with blind-spot warnings.

Is parking something you struggle with? The Self-steering ParkAssist feature of the Macan allows you to park your car at the press of a button. As you park your car, additional parking assistance technologies like Surround View and a reverse camera make sure you are always completely aware of your surroundings.

The 2022 Macan has something for everyone in terms of speed, affordability, customizability, and a wide range of driver aid features. Visit Porsche North Scottsdale right away to experience the luxury, comfort, and power of a Porsche Macan firsthand with a test drive.

What does the Porsche Macan’s adaptive cruise control do?

As part of its most recent model improvements, Porsche has increased the number of assistance technologies available for the Macan. This is advantageous for the new Macan GTS as well. New functions can be realized thanks to more potent sensors, data processing, and picture analysis. Still available as options are Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Change Assist, and Speed Limit Display. A Traffic Jam Assist system has been created using the adaptive cruise control.

The adaptive cruise control system checks the distance from vehicles traveling in front of it and automatically adjusts to them using the radar sensor positioned in the center of the central air intake. Additionally, vehicles entering from nearby lanes are identified. If necessary, the system will brake the automobile to a stop in sync with how the car in front is stopping. The Macan can instantly start moving again after slowing to a stop thanks to its stop-and-go feature. If the automobile is stopped for more than three seconds, all that is needed to allow the car to go off again is a quick press of the accelerator or to resume using the control stalk.

Is there adaptive cruise control on the Macan?

Advantages: Powerful acceleration; superb handling and agility; a wide range of features and customization options are available.

Cons: Decreasing prices get even more expensive as extras are added; optional 21-inch wheels stiffen the ride; average trunk space

The 2021 Porsche Macan is unaltered except from the addition of standard Apple CarPlay capabilities to all versions. For 2019, the Macan received updated appearance and suspension adjustments. A 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine with 248 horsepower powers the base model. A 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 with 348 horsepower powers the middle S variant. The high-performance Turbo features a 434-horsepower version of the twin-turbo six while the GTS gets a 375-horsepower twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6. All-wheel drive is standard, and all engines are connected to Porsche’s PDK 7-speed automated-manual transmission. The Macan is essentially a smaller Porsche Cayenne, and it has some structural similarities to the Audi Q5. Active Suspension Management, launch control, summer performance tires, torque-vectoring rear differential, hill-descent control, and air suspension are just a few of the on- and off-road performance options that are available (which can raise the ride height to 9.1 inches for off-roading). It goes without saying that there is also a ton of luxury equipment available, such as a 16-speaker Burmester audio system, panoramic sunroof, 18-way power front seats, heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel, and adaptive headlights. Lane-keep assistance, blind-spot warning, front and rear park assist, and adaptive cruise control are among the safety features that are readily available. In the category of premium compact SUVs, the Macan is one of the swiftest and most sporty cars. Although its excellent performance comes at exceptional cost, this small hauler is a credit to the Porsche brand.

How is adaptive cruise control configured?

You begin using adaptive cruise control the same way you would with conventional cruise control. The driver activates ACC, picks up speed, and then presses the “Set” button. The speed can then be adjusted using the “+” and “-” buttons, usually in increments of 1 or 5 mph. Finally, the driver can select the preferred following distance by pressing a button that cycles between short, medium, and long following distances. A distance of 1, 2, or 3 bars may be displayed between two vehicle icons by some automakers. Others, like Mercedes-Benz, display the following distance in feet even though it really refers to the following gap in seconds that are translated to feet. For instance, 200 feet of following distance at 60 mph (88 feet per second) is equivalent to around 3 seconds.

A automobile icon and frequently what appear to be converging-at-infinity lines, denoting the road, are displayed on an indicator in the instrument panel or head-up display. A second automobile icon or the hue of the lone car icon changes when radar detects a car up ahead.

Start with the greatest following distance when you are first getting started in a new automobile with ACC. If you set the closest following distance, you’ll become anxious if it looks to go dangerously close and you’re unsure of if ACC is truly functioning. ACC is most likely available but not engaged because the motorist may have accidentally softly brushed the brake pedal while driving and was unaware of it.

Is adaptive cruise control available for the Macan?

The Macan S variant has a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine with 348 horsepower that can go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds and peak out at 157 mph on the racetrack. 19-inch wheels, adaptive cruise control, a sunroof, heated and ventilated front seats, and rear sunshades are further standard amenities. 21-inch wheels, an adaptive air suspension, sport exhaust, and electrically adjustable suspension are available features (PASM).

How does the adaptive cruise control on the Porsche work?

In accordance with the speed of the automobile in front of you, the standard Porsche Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) system will regulate the speed of your car, slowing it down all the way to a stop using the stop-and-go feature. Furthering this, Porsche InnoDrive predictably adjusts your vehicle’s speed for impending road conditions.

Are there adaptive cruise controls in Porsche?

The Porsche 911’s Adaptive Cruise Control technology can automatically slow you down to assist you keep a safe following distance from the car in front of you.

What is adaptive cruise control in the Porsche Cayenne?

Porsche’s innovative cruise control technology, InnoDrive, makes use of location data to anticipate curves, changes in the posted speed limit, and the best places for electric-only propulsion. Cayenne and the Panamera will offer the newest system.

Are there adaptive cruise controls on the Taycan?

In order to provide more comfort, greater efficiency, and the kind of driving experience one would expect from a Porsche, Porsche InnoDrive offers optimized speed control. Speed is predicatively adjusted to speed limits and road layout using navigation data, radar, and video sensors (gradients, bends). Porsche InnoDrive is in charge of accelerating and decelerating the vehicle, as well as coasting. Harmonious and effective journeys are made possible by the system’s capacity to anticipate distances of up to three kilometers and its real-time optimization of the driving strategy. Additionally, Porsche InnoDrive changes the speed automatically to account for bends, roundabouts, and speed limits. Even when a car cuts in from the side, it keeps track of the distance to the car in front and maintains control of it.

The system’s fundamental architecture is built for optimal comfort. It refines its driving technique to attain the best level of smoothness with the least amount of acceleration and braking. In contrast, Porsche InnoDrive in Sport mode enables the driver to travel new roads safely while still driving nimbly. Even though it then adopts a dynamic driving style, it nevertheless operates well below the vehicle’s capabilities.

Additional Porsche InnoDrive features include:

On well-maintained country roads and highways, Active Lane Keep Assist improves the adaptive cruise control and lane keeping functions. The system maintains the car in the middle of the lane with constant steering interventions, even in traffic jams, while taking into consideration traffic up ahead and road markers inside the system’s borders.

In a pressing avoidance situation, Swerve Assist can assist the driver in guiding the car around an obstruction.

In the event that a driver fails to see or hear approaching or crossing traffic at a junction, Intersection Assist can alert them (visually, audibly, and with a braking shock).

Adaptive cruise control: Is it secure?

— (Reuters) A U.S. study released on Thursday concluded that adaptive cruise control systems, which regulate braking and speed in cars, increase the risk of traffic accidents by encouraging drivers to go at higher speeds.

Exactly how do I turn on my Porsche InnoDrive?

You can choose Porsche InnoDrive or Porsche Adaptive Cruise Control from the driver instrument cluster screen by pressing the button on the lever to the left of your steering wheel, if you’re unsure how to utilize Porsche InnoDrive in your car.

What distinguishes adaptive cruise control from cruise control?

Conventional cruise control allows you to select a constant speed. A development of standard cruise control is adaptive cruise control (ACC). With ACC, your car’s speed is automatically adjusted to keep up with the vehicle in front of you. ACC can automatically slow down the vehicle in front of it. Your ACC enables your automobile to return to the speed that you have chosen once the vehicle in front of you pulls out of your lane or accelerates past it. You merely need to turn on the system and choose your chosen following distance after choosing your pace.
