Michael Bublé is a Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter originally from Burnaby in Canada who has sold over thirty million records worldwide.

Bublé's talents for jazz were first recognised at Christmas time when he was aged just thirteen yet managed to powerfully sing out a line from the popular 'White Christmas' on a family car ride. Bublé was encouraged to pursue singing by his Italian grandfather who booked him his first gig playing a club at the age of sixteen and then continued to pay for the singer's vocal lessons where he was coached by opera baritone Joseph Shore. His grandfather passionately supported his career, believing Michael was destined to be "an opening act for somebody in Las Vegas", he was inspired by his grandfather's jazz collection and continued to developed his classic Sinattra style.

Bublé's rise to fame was not considered easy, after winning a Canada Youth Talent Search competition, he asked Bev Delich to become his manager who then continued to book him every available gig including talent shows, conventions and cruise ships. His break came through the release of his self titled debut album in 2003 which debuted in the top ten of the Canadian charts, and topped the Australian top 40. His second album 'It's Time' faired better, topping charts in Canada, hitting top five in the UK and denting the top ten in the US where the album has gone on to sell nearly four millions.

His following two releases topped the charts in the UK, US, Canada and Australia and turned Bublé into a household name. His big band stylings and classic performance style won him a huge following who craved for the big brass of the 60's and 70's, his tours are known for his energetic stage personas and impressive vocal performance. He became an even more consistent household addition with the release of his 2011 album 'Christmas' which featured his distinct jazz vocal covering some holiday classics, it was another huge commercial success and was one of the year's biggest selling albums in the UK and Australia.

Live reviews

Write a review for Michael Bublé: more like write a book, the story of my dreams coming true :)

It all started back in about 2005, I started my first year of high school and as we all know sisters seem to have the natural inclination of claiming things from each other (without the other sister knowing of course). Now, I didn't feel the need to claim my older sister's clothes and make-up but I did however find a certain something that I was just never going to give back! At that stage my sister was working and I didn't really get an allowance so I thought I could borrow a few CD's to listen to on my walkman :) Michael Bublé's first self titled album happened to be one of the CD's I borrowed.

Needles to say I fell in love with the music and his voice and I did not return that CD! A few years later, they had a poster put up in the North of Johannesburg, near the Coca Cola Dome, announcing a Michael Bublé concert. I was obviously over the moon and immediately asked my father to please buy me a ticket, I must see his concert. My father did not see the need to buy me a ticket though, because Michael was not an artist that he had heard of, so he thought it would not be worth the money to buy for me.

In 2011, a new tour was announced and I was over the moon, I was working and could afford to buy my own ticket this time! However, the universe had a different plan for me. Tickets were sold out, radio stations (one specific radio station) was having competitions to win tickets, which I tried for every day I had to sit in my mother's car to listen to the radio because their was no signal in the flats we were living in. I tried twitter competitions as well and I just did not have any luck. My one friend had two tickets to the show, but she refused to sell me one ticket because she was taking her boyfriend with, which hurt even more because I knew he would not appreciate it as much as I would. I then when to the extent of looking at the on-line stores where people sell that things they do not want. People sold tickets for right at the back of the venue for R3000 a ticket, which was just ridiculous, who can afford that?

It was announced again last year (2014) that Michael will be touring here again. I WENT BALLISTIC! This time I was able to bag some really great seats... the odds were in my favour this time! :)

I had a count down set up to the big day, got all dressed up, bought some nice merchandise and then got a bit worried... You know often we build such great expectations, that real life can not reach that high we have set up in our minds... The opening act started.. Naturally 7, From the word go I had goosebumps all over! I was hitting my boyfriend's leg like an excited kid! They performed a few songs that I did not know and I was honestly having a blast listening to them, then they started performing their version of Coldplay - Fix you. I was sold! I sent my boyfriend to buy their CD while they were still performing (just in case it was sold out before we got a copy, haha) When they were done, the team started setting up the stage for the band, I waited as patiently as I could...

There was an introduction song that started up like a song from an old Hollywood film.

I clapped my hands together - again - like a kid. I could be mistaken because I was so excited, but the intro for cry me a river started playing and as it ended, FIRE WORKS, the curtain opened and standing on the ramp, my ultimate inspiration. He started singing Fever and slid down the ramp and the rest of the show was MAGIC!!!

I sang to each of the songs, danced and clapped my hands, I laughed and smiled so much that my face hurt! It was truly an amazing experience! He moved through the crowds, charmed them even. What a humble, funny guy!

Before the show started I told my boyfriend, " I know you think Michael isn't bad, but I BET YOU that after tonight you will think 1000 times more of him and his performance skills" after the show, I said to him I TOLD YOU SO :) he enjoyed it just as much as I did.

Going to his show was a dream come true for me, It was long awaited (since 2005), I thought my high expectations might ruin the show for me, but He met those high expectations and even topped them! I know it sounds far fetched to say, but HONESTLY this was the best night of my life! I would even go as far as saying, if I had the kind of money, I would follow his tours around the world!

I hope my review put in to perspective how awesome his show was and for those that think "Michael's music is boring or his show is boring" you will miss out if you do not go and see for yourself!

When i first watched Michael Bublé's live concert at Madison Square Garden through his DVD back in 2013, i knew that one day, in the distant future, i would sit in his live concert, enjoying his soulful voice, his vibrant music genres from jazz to pop, his charming witty humoring jokes.

And that one day came at 2015 February 6th. It was a magical night, an amazing experience he took us, the audience, all along.

From the cool-to-max-pyrotech "Fever" to upbeat staple "Haven't Met You Yet", Michael rocked the stage right off the first ten minutes. People danced to his songs, people joined in the fun by clapping their hands all along. And you would have a hard time believing how Michael Bublé was able to bring the whole Nippon Budokan to shake with him.

As he said, he was not doing a concert, but he was having a party, with us; his fans. It was a ride from the slow sad but honest "Try A Little Tenderness", following with multiple mash up from his hits of previous albums, you can be of sure that "To Be Loved" World Tour was full of Bublé's elements from the start of his career to the latest success of him.

Often we heard people or critics complaining that artists/singers fake their concert by using autotune, to prevent failure or so. But in Michael's show, be ready to hear his truest voice to the deepest end. In fact, he was being complete honest when he said he screwed up "Feeling Good". But Michael, don't worry. Your honesty won over every flaws there were. The effort and energy vibrated from you were just so strong that those flaws are what made you perfect.

Michael performed his self-labelled-its-sucks "Home", which crooned over everyone in the hall. I mean, who could have resisted to not think of their loves when he sang "i'd my run, baby i'm done, i want to go home".

Along with that, we also had Naturally 7 joined in the fun, with Motown classic "Who's Loving You", "To Love Somebody" and "Get Lucky". Forgot to mention, Naturally 7 warmed the hall up before Michael, and boy did they warm the hall, they pretty much rocked the hall and prepared us to meet the "feverish" man right after.

Not to mention also, the "Team Bublé" that performed all the musics flawlessly. It was one thing to watch their performance through videos, and another to truly enjoy their performance live. That bass, that saxophone, that trumpet, that trombone and others; the musical notes just sounded so much magical in live. Oh the ever superb percussion!

All in all, it was definitely a night well spent. You won't regret the money you bought to enjoy this man's talent. I will go for his concerts in future again, again and again, just like his sincere honesty in "Song For You", that very last part where he sang with no mic, and got my goosebumps up,

"And when my life is over, I'll remember when we were together,

'Cause we're alone, and I was singing my song for you."

We all love you, Michael Bublé.

Naturally 7, which was the opening act for the Michael Bublé concert here in Ottawa last nite, was PHENOMENAL!!!!!! By far the best opening act I have ever seen. They had us up out of our seats dancing to their acoustic sound. No instruments, all sounds performed by themselves using their mouth. Certainly had us warmed up for the man himself, the wonderful, soulful, funny Michael Bublé. Michael puts on a show like no other. He is simply the best, in my opinion of course. His charm and wit resonated throughout his performance last nite. I had never been to a concert of his before, but, I can honestly say that last nite will not be my last. Aside from him being a world renowed artist who hails from CANADA, he is really down to earth. All his fame and fortune has not gone to his head, like it has for many other artists in the business. He is very proud to talk about his wife and son and being a first time Dad. Sure he makes some sexual jokes, which did not offend me. I very much enjoyed his humour, as did many others in attendance last nite. He also spoke very fondly of his dear Grandpa, who was actually in the audience who received a huge round of applause.

He sung all my favourites: Fever, Home, Close Your Eyes, Crazy Love, Save the Last Dance for Me, amongst many others. His voice is always smooth and certainly puts you in the mood. I was actually surprised as to how many men were at the concert. Whether they were dragged by their wife/girlfriend didn't matter, it was nice to see in a sea of women. I had a really great seat as front row beside middle stage where the sound crew sat. One of the highlites for me was when his gorgeous wife arrived with their son with his headphones on to this area. Michael was singing with Naturally 7 on this stage and stopped to admire both of them and had is very adorable son's face put on the big screen. He really is one smitten husband and Dad.

Michael did not want to finish the concert last nite, nor did I want him to. I was enjoying myself so much and when I looked around me, so was everyone else.

When I attend a concert, I want to be entertained and last nite I was thoroughly entertained. Thank you Michael for giving me the best Wednesday nite in a very long time and I look forward to the next time we meet again.

A fan from day one.

Seeing Michael Buble live was something I’d dreamed of for years, and when I finally was able to experience an O2 Arena performance, I was not disappointed at all. The show, beginning to end was spectacular. The vocals, performance, and atmosphere was stunning.

The supports were pretty good at warming up the crowd ready for Michaels performance, and by the time he was ready to come on stage, the arena was buzzing. It’s awesome how he really interacts with the crowd, and even in such a massive venue he was addressing all areas of the stadium and even hopped down to grab the hands of some of the standing audience in the front which was so cool.

All his classic songs were so amazing and everyone was on their feet and singing along. It’s incredible how he can maintain such a strong vocal performance throughout 2 hours of nonstop singing with so much energy. Even if you’re not a fan, I think that it’s a concert for everyone and seeing him live will convert you.

Michael Buble was full of energy Saturday at Air Canada Centre and the result was a concert that won't soon be forgotten. It started with an amazing opening act from Naturally 7, a band that uses its voices as the instruments and continued with a wide array of Buble favorites, including "All you need is love" performed by the singer as white and red hearts floated down from the roof. He had the crowd dancing in their seats at times and those who wouldn't dance, he had highlighted on the big screens on either side of the stage until they started dancing. With the opening act, the show lasted nearly three hours and I don't see how anyone could have gone home disappointed. It was a great night. if I had but one regret, it was that Buble did not perform my favorite song of his, Summer Wind, but there were sure lots of other great songs to make up for that. It was a most memorable night.

I'm not a fan of Michael Bublé. I don't dislike him, I think he's very talented and good at what he does. But I'm just not into him/his music all that much, just indiferrent.

However I went to the concert with my family relatives and significant other — who happen to LOVE him and his music.

It was great to see him on stage, along with fantastic opening act Emeli Sandé. Bublé was coming back on stage after a few years and whereas I would have expected a more polished "american show", he went in more relaxed, taking the time to talk with the audience and make jokes. It was a lot of fun, and he's a lot funnier than I anticipated. I definitely laughed at his comedic bits, not something I anticipated.

In terms of the show and the performance itself, you can tell the guy is a pro, and his band was just as great!

Overall a suprisingly great time!

This Concert was AMAZING! I loved every minute, it was full of love and laughter AND all of my favourite songs. Thank You Michael! On your previous trip to ANZ Stadium it was so washed out with the rain you even said we all looked like a row of condoms sitting in our plastic rain covers and all I could see of you was a pin prick size picture on a large TV screen...it was so disappointing after flying in from Queensland. BUT this time our seats were near the front and it was great to see and hear you in the flesh! It made up for all the disappointment of the previous trip...and you are the only artist I have ever been to a concert for, I will try to go every time you return to Australia, so PLEASE come back soon. I recommend this artist and concert to all ages it was fantastic...We need a new album of all your own songs please.

Michael Buble’s concert in Sydney was definately one of the best shows I’ve ever seen! First, the band, the arrangemets which all were changed even more bigger than I new them before, backing vocalists and their movements :), setlist itself. A very good and precise lightning and director work.

But of course, it all would have been nothing, if there wasn’t such an indescribably perfect frontman!!!

The combination of perfect humor, musicallity, good taste of music and singing. The very special charming movements, his looks etc..

the very memorable moment for me was the lady from the fan zone who started to sing.. But not because of the nice singing, but the mistery about the band joining. I think I figured it out how you guys did it and again say wow!! :)

Thank you for the amazing evening!

The concert was fantastic!

Obviously the voice was out of this world, even when you are all the way back in the cheap seats :) *The orchestra was amazing too! Not only is he an amazing singer he is a great entertainer as well. Michael Bublé interacts with the audience (he even gets people up on stage with him to sing) and makes the audience feel at home. He stops after a few songs to talk to the audience about how happy he is to see this audience in front of him. He even makes the audience laugh with occasional jokes! The visuals, so the screens and the set up, were beautiful.

It was an amazing experience and I would love to go to one of his concerts again.

When seeing Michael expect more of a show than a concert. Needless to say, it was amazing. He really draws you in with his sense of humor and shows how down to earth he can be. He takes breaks in between songs to talk and crack jokes which kept everyone's interest throughout. Not that he needed to stop between songs but it was quite refreshing to experience a concert in that sort of way. The venue we watched the show in was quite large but somehow he makes the concert feel very intimate. His encore was breathtaking and very unexpected. Over all no matter how old or young you are (although I wouldn't recommend bringing your kids to this!) this is something you would enjoy!

I just want to connect to them, take them away, spread some goodness. That's it!"

Next year’s shows follow Bublé’s sold-out global two-year tour, which saw him join The O2’s ‘21 Club’ in 2019 as one of only a handful of artists to have performed at the venue more than 21 times – a record only achieved by Prince, Take That, One Direction, Drake, Young Voices, Micky Flanagan and Michael McIntyre, alongside Michael Bublé.

Michael Buble reaching for ‘Higher’ ground on new tour, album

The grammy-winning singer wants fans to ‘be part of something special for one night,’ he says of the biggest tour he’s ever mounted..

Michael Buble is on the road again.

More on the Willie Nelson homage later.

Suffice it to say, his new tour, which arrives at the Allstate Arena on Friday night, has been more than two years in the making thanks to the pandemic that sidelined his road trek plans like those of so many other artists. With his latest album, “Higher,” in tow, Buble is pulling out all the stops.

“I was terrified I’d never get back to work, that people would never be able to get back into a [concert venue] safely again,” Buble says during a recent chat. “So I wanted this show to be a celebration of joy and love. And I didn’t want to rest on my laurels. People have never seen me in this way in concert before. … I want them to be part of something special for one night. It’s the biggest tour I’ve ever mounted, production-wise.

“It’s fun to show off,” the 46-year-old Canadian singer continues, “and I’m not trying to sound like a jerk. … I’m giving people the chance to see something that went extinct a long time ago. If you never had the chance to see Frank or Dean or Elvis we’ve put [that show experience] into a pop setting. So you get the music but you [also get] the raconteur surrounded by a live, big band with string players and a full choir. I love what I do!”

Buble changed up the recording process in a huge way for “Higher,” surrounding himself with a new producing lineup, for starters, that included Greg Wells and Bob Rock, along with Alan Chang, Jason “Spicy G” Goldman and  Sir Paul McCartney. He describes working with the former Beatle as “really comfortable. He was so down to earth and extremely generous and just happy to be there.”

The album, Buble’s 11th studio outing, reveals many new layers to his music chops.

“The album had a lot to do with the COVID [lockdown]. I was in a place with a lot of time to think about things and really dream big, go for things musically I’d never been brave enough to do before,” the four-time Grammy Award winner says. “I was terribly ambitious.”

The lineup includes Buble’s spin on Sam Cooke’s soul-gospel gem “Bring It On Home to Me,” Vera Lynn’s WWII-era treasure “We’ll Meet Again,” Barry White’s disco classic “You’re the First, the Last, My Everything,” Charlie Chaplin’s tearjerker “Smile,” and Bob Dylan’s torchy romantic ode “Make You Feel My Love.” The covers are a fine complement to several originals including the first single from the project, “I’ll Never Not Love You,” featuring his wife Luisana Lopilato in the video, which has garnered more than 5 million views to date. (The couple welcomed their fourth child, daughter Cielo Yoli Rose, on Aug. 19.)

A former collaborator suggested Buble take a different tack on the album, to step away from his distinct style “for a little more fresh sound.”

“He told me ‘you might get a lot out of that sense of newness,’ and he was right. So that’s what I did,” Buble says. “I left that comfort zone of working with [uber producer-composer] David Foster and the same writers that I had worked with for so many years. It was about staying on brand and not losing my core audience but showing a ton of growth musically to that audience.”

No stranger to duets (he has partnered with Mariah Carey, Tony Bennett, Barbra Streisand, Thalia, and Laura Pausini, among others), Buble this time turned to country music legend Willie Nelson for a shared turn on “Crazy,” calling the track “the greatest duet I’ve ever done.”

“He’s one of my heroes,” Buble gushes. “When I think of the greatest interpreters of the American Songbook, I have Willie there. His music has had such a big impact on my life. His albums were among the records gifted to me by my grandpa. [Willie] sounds so good. Damn, he sounds like a kid on that cut. I would say it’s the greatest duet I’ve ever done.”

Event Details

Michael Bublé, the multi-Grammy, multi-Juno award winning artist was a man on a mission when he signed his record deal with Reprise Records almost two decades ago and with the imminent release of his new studio album in 2022, he continues his journey but with even more passion.

First, he made a vow to himself to not only keep the flames of the great classics of the American Songbook alive and well - to not only breathe new life into them - but to bring his singular style, vocal power and his love to these timeless tunes.

Secondly, he was going to write number one pop hits that would become classics unto themselves.

Third and most crucial for him was to bring all this music together in concert and take his audiences on a special journey - to give them an evening they would never forget. Every night, he would sing his heart out, serenade them with beautiful love songs, make themlaugh, cry, dance and enthrall sold out crowds in arenas and stadiums in countries around the world.

He wanted his shows to be legendary. Clearly, he has succeeded on all these fronts, even beyond his own wildest dreams.

The multi-platinum singer/songwriter/producer/humanitarian is officially a global phenomenon and shows no signs ofslowing down as fans will hear this year with his new album and tour.

Michael Bublé at the AO Arena Manchester – stage times, setlist and tickets

Michael Buble is back in town this weekend. Here's everything you need to know.

Daisy Jackson

Legendary singer Michael Bublé is heading to Manchester this weekend, for two massive gigs at the AO Arena.

The Canadian crooner is bringing his Higher Tour across the UK in spring, with massive arena shows booked in over the coming weeks.

With 11 studio albums to his name, Michael Bublé has been named by Billboard as the third top Canadian artist of all time, beaten only by Celine Dion and Shania Twain.

He’s pretty well-known for his Christmas albums, which routinely get wheeled out every December, and released his latest record Higher in March last year.

Here’s everything you need to know about Michael Buble’s AO Arena gig this weekend.

Are there still Michael Buble tickets?

The wait is almost over! See you soon #Manchester #MBHigherTour pic.twitter.com/tiRy85rNBx — Michael Bublé (@MichaelBuble) April 19, 2023

Yes! There’s still quite good availability for both nights at the AO Arena.

The cheapest tickets are £64.95 each, which will see you popped up in the upper tier of the seating in the huge arena.

Then there are other tickets priced at £87.50, and at £109.95.

You can see the latest availability and book your tickets at Ticketmaster here .

When is Michael Bublé playing at the AO Arena Manchester?

Michael has added two Manchester dates to his UK tour, which also includes stops in Leeds, Newcastle and London.

He’ll be in Manchester at the AO Arena on both Friday 21 and Saturday 22 April.

Then he’s off on the road again, with a night at the First Direct Arena in Leeds, two shows at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro, one at P&J Live in Aberdeen, two nights at the Utilita Arena in Newcastle, one gig in Cardiff, and two shows in Birmingham.

Michael Buble

Who is supporting?

No one. He’s riding solo.

Okay, moving on…

What are the stage times?

The doors to the AO Arena will open at 6pm for both shows, on Friday and Saturday.

The show is expected to start at 7.30pm, but as always, this is subject to change.

Make sure to leave yourself plenty of time to get in, clear security and find your seat.

It’ll be a night of gorgeous covers and big-band hits.

About the AO Arena

michael buble tour start time

The AO Arena has a few strict policies to keep gig-goers safe, so make sure to check  entry requirements carefully before you travel.

For example, only one small bag per person is allowed, and bags like backpacks, travel cases and laptop bags are not permitted inside the arena.

All bags are scanned on entry to check for prohibited items like laser pens, flares, projectiles, weapons, drugs and alcohol, and even selfie sticks.

Onda, the pasta restaurant that’s so popular people are waiting MONTHS for a table, has confirmed plans for a new location in Manchester.

The restaurant had recently announced that they would be moving out of The New Cross, where they’ve been in residence since last summer.

And now they have teased details of a brand new restaurant all for themselves.

Onda’s popularity has grown so quickly, they’ve had people booking tables up to six months in advance.

It’s made a name for itself with its handmade pasta dishes, including (my personal favourite) the nduja vodka pasta sharer.

Onda also went quite ridiculously viral last September when they shared a video of their tiramisu drawer – yep, a whole drawer, full of tiramisu, which they generously scoop out and plop onto plates to order.

It’s had more than 57 million views across Instagram and TikTok, with subsequent behind-the-scenes posts also hitting millions of views apiece.

The pudding drawer even caught the eye of Hollywood a-lister Florence Pugh. Which didn’t help with the demand to get a table.

So now Onda is branching out, with its very own restaurant space in Manchester set to open mid-May.

They’ve today shared a photo of their brand new location, down at Circle Square on Oxford Road.

Onda has moved out of The New Cross and revealed plans for a new pasta restaurant in Manchester

It’s a brilliant new addition to the area, which is already home to Federal (another place prone to a big queue) and North Taproom – but which recently lost gig venue Canvas , and New Zealand brunch spot Tahi.

Onda has said that their new restaurant will have around 48 covers in the main dining space, with about 26 more in the bar area.

Those who had tables booked at The New Cross will be given priority access to tables for the new restaurant, with Onda apologising for ‘letting those down’ who have been waiting as long as October to dine with them.

They wrote: “This was a really tough decision to make, first and foremost because we had to let down those who have booked with us but also financially as a popup it’s a huge hit for us to lose a month of revenue.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Onda Pasta Bar (@ondapastabar)

“A lot of these bookings were made in October/November and we hadn’t foreseen this demand for Onda in a million years, in August/September we were touch and go each week and a month later we had bookings being made 6 months in advance.”

Speaking of leaving The New Cross for their new ‘perfect’ site, Onda said: “A massive thank you to everyone who’s visited us since we moved to @thenewcross in August, and to Chris + Rach, the owners of the bar and their team here for all their help and support. I’m not sure either us or them ever anticipated it to go quite like it did. It went mad.

“At times trying to run a restaurant from someone’s else’s bar was chaos to say the least but the feedback has made it all worth it and we’re really excited to properly open our own space in May.”

Onda Pasta Bar will open at Circle Square on Oxford Road in mid-March.

The adidas Manchester Marathon is back for 2024 and the region is already getting set for thousands of Mancs to take on the annual challenge.

Not only the second-largest race of its kind in the UK but the fourth most popular in all of Europe, the Manchester Marathon welcomes more than 30,000 runners every year and even more spectators from all over the continent. We’re talking around 125,000 people lining the 26.2-mile route. Yowza.

With an unprecedented demand for places at this year’s event, which has been running rather unbelievably since 1908 (no pun intended), this year’s Manchester Marathon on Sunday, 14 April 2024 is genuinely set to be the biggest yet.

So if you’re taking part or just cheering the competitors on from the sidelines, here’s everything you need to know about the 2024 adidas Manchester Marathon .

Manchester Marathon Route, waves and timings

manchester marathon route 2024

As with previous years, the route will start and end over in Trafford . Participants will set off underneath Trafford Arch at White City Circle, making their way past Old Trafford before heading back towards the city centre via Chorlton and Hulme.

After reaching the city centre, runners will then head towards Stretford, passing through Sale before turning off as they approach Timperley and eventually reach Altrincham around the 16-mile mark.

The final leg of the route will take runners through Chorlton-Cum-Hardy , with Talbot Road leading you back to the finish line. For those feeling any nerves (like the runner currently writing this), you’ll be glad to know the Manchester Marathon is one of the flattest in the country.

You can see the full breakdown of timings and coloured waves down below and you can see a more detailed interactive map of the route HERE .

manchester marathon start times 2024

Road closures for the Manchester Marathon

The road closures for this year’s marathon include the A56 (Northbound and Southbound), with the officials set to start closing roads at 3am and begin re-opening roads from 2pm onwards after the course begins to clear.

The last closed road is expected to re-open around 8pm through Chorlton and Old Trafford towards the end of the course.

You can find further details on road closure and what other parts of Greater Manchester are set to be impacted HERE .

Travel advice

As mentioned, road closure will obviously impact people coming in and out of the city as well as to various spots along the marathon route, so whether you’re a local or travelling in from elsewhere, it’s worth knowing where to be and where’s best to avoid too.

Lucky for you, Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) has plenty of useful travel advice for competitors, spectators and everyone else in the area this weekend, just simply check out their website .

For starters, it’s worth noting that public transport around Manchester and Trafford will be very busy before, during and after the race, with several bus services set to be diverted and even those not directly impacted by the marathon route may still be affected by displaced traffic and congestion.

It goes without saying that there will also be a significant number of road closures throughout Sunday as well. However, once again, the wonderful organisers have you covered; you can see the full list of closures HERE and they have even put together an interactive map for you to check what’s shut when:

Public transport

People are also being advised to leave their cars at home where possible to avoid the busy roads, or to at least use the free park-and-ride services on the way into Manchester and travel to their destinations via our city’s wonderful tram network.

Metrolink will be operating a six-minute frequency on the Altrincham line with more double trams and increased capacity along various other lines too. That being said, services are expected to be extremely busy throughout the day, so if you can travel flexibly, the predicted quietest time to travel is around 4pm.

Once you’ve tapped on and tapped off, most fan corners, cheer zones and regular spots for supporters to gather together should only be a short walk away from your chosen tram stop.

New mascots, event shirts and the 2024 finisher’s medals picked by the public

This year, the adidas Manchester Marathon also welcomes on board a brand new mascot, Chester the Bee, who will join the event’s much-loved existing mascot, Manny the Bee to help bring extra cheer to the festivities on the day.

As we all know and love, Manchester has a vibrant LGBTQIA+ community and, as the organisers said in a press release, “introducing mascots that celebrate this diversity allows the marathon to reflect these identities within Greater Manchester. It’s a way to honour the unique contributions and experiences of LGBTQIA+ individuals and showcase their pride within the larger community.”

Better still, the organisers donate £1 for every participant taking on the marathon straight to the Trafford Active Fund, which offers local groups the chance to receive a special allocation of funding to build a long-lasting sport and physical activity legacy in Greater Manchester. Money from the marathon also goes towards planting trees across the region through the Green Runner scheme .

You can also see what this year’s general public selected as the design for this year’s Manchester Marathon finisher’s medal design down below. It’s a pretty one.

Thousands of you voted on the colour of the 2024 medal. We can now reveal the official 2024 adidas Manchester Marathon medal is… GOLD! 🥇   A big thank you to Marv, Abbie, Alex and Andrew from Manchester Run Club and Chorlton Runners for revealing our 2024 medal. pic.twitter.com/yYancbt4Lr — Manchester Marathon (@Marathon_Mcr) December 21, 2023

With a record 32,000+ runners set to hit the streets of 0161 this year, we cannot wait for people all over the ten boroughs to get soaked up in the spirit of the day.

It’s genuinely one of the most wholesome dates on the calendar and we’re just praying for a sunny day to make it perfect.

It’s also estimated that the event will raise around £3.5 million for hundreds of charities, with nearly 2,000 places allocated to representatives from Alzheimer’s Society, Cancer Research UK, British Heart Foundation and The Christie. You absolutely love to see it.

Good luck to everyone taking part on the day — you’re all going to absolutely smash it.

There is no higher love than Manchester's enduring passion for Michael Bublé. The city's love affair with the King of Swing has seen "Bublé-mania" on previous visits here over his past two decades in showbiz.

Audiences here simply cannot get enough of the Canadian superstar's big band musical extravaganzas, with plenty of Bublé humour along the way. He will play to some 30,000 of his devoted fans over two packed out AO Arena gigs this weekend.

He's back in the UK on his first arena tour for four years, the Higher tour, and he's back with a bang. Celebrating the 20th anniversary of his debut album, fans can certainly expect all the big hits as well as his best-loved covers celebrating the Great American Songbook.

Fresh from his latest Grammy-win, Michael was full of energy on the opening night of the UK tour at the end of March at London's 02 Arena. And the show was full of everything die-hards have come to expect - including an extravagant stage set, smooth serenading and of course his trademark wit.

michael buble tour start time

Photos: Michael Bublé at AO Arena Manchester 2023

On that occasion he told fans: “Tonight is a celebration of life. Through a whole pandemic, we spent so much time eating alone, watching Netflix alone…having sex alone! Not tonight…not tonight.

He continued. "Tonight is a celebration of being together again, it’s a party! It’s not a show, it’s a party!".

Manchester expects nothing less, of course, for his arrival here on Friday and Saturday night at the AO Arena . He will be flanked by his full live orchestra for what is set to be two more memorable Manchester nights.

If you're heading along, we've put together some useful info about what to expect.

Stage times

Doors open for the Michael Bublé concerts at 6pm on both Friday, April 21 and Saturday, April 22.

There is no support act for the tour, and the time being given for the show to start is 7.30pm. On his first night in Manchester, on April 21, he arrived on stage just after 7.40pm.

As with all concerts, timings are subject to change so the best advice is always to arrive in plenty of time to be seated for the main show.

michael buble tour start time

Similarly, all setlists are liable to change on tours. But here's what Michael sang on his first night at the 02 Arena in London on March 26, 2023.

Be aware though that after the shows, Trinity Way will be closed southbound between Great Ducie Street and Cheetham Hill Road for up to one hour, to allow concert-goers to safely exit the venue.

If you’re parking at the arena car park, you will still be allowed to exit during this closure but you will have to turn right and follow local diversions.

There are some 7,000 parking spaces at car parks within a short walk to the arena as well.

What are the public transport options?

The AO Arena is within the Manchester Victoria Train Station complex, which serves both mainline trains and a tram stop.

Opinion Take it from me: See your music heroes before it’s too late

michael buble tour start time

When Frank Sinatra came to Washington in 1992, I almost went to see him. But then I thought: Tickets are expensive, and his voice isn’t what it once was . I skipped the show — and immediately regretted it. Next time , I told myself. But there was no next time. A few years later, he was gone. I had passed up the chance to see one of the greatest voices of the 20th century.

So, I made a decision: Every chance I had, I would see a performer whose music I love — regardless of age, infirmity or musical style. My mantra became: See them before they die. Over the past three decades, that quest has taken me to venues across the country to see every imaginable genre of live music.

That vow took me, in the years that followed, to RFK Stadium, where I saw Pink Floyd and the Grateful Dead . In November, it brought me to Huntington Beach, Calif., for the Darker Waves Festival , where I spent 12 hours in an ’80s music nirvana: the English Beat , Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark , Violent Femmes , Devo , Soft Cell , the Psychedelic Furs , the Human League , the B-52s , New Order and Tears for Fears . And this summer, it will take me back to Los Angeles for the Fool in Love festival , where I’ll see Lionel Richie, Smokey Robinson, Santana, Gladys Knight, Kool & the Gang, Chaka Khan, the Isley Brothers, Eric Burdon and the Animals, War, George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic, Morris Day and the Time, Evelyn “Champagne” King and others.

During the actual ’80s, when I grew up, I didn’t see a lot of these performers live. As a teen, I hung out in New York clubs such as Danceteria, where Madonna got her start, and my first concert was her Virgin Tour at Madison Square Garden. I camped out with friends overnight outside Tower Records for tickets. Otis Day and the Knights , of “Animal House” fame, played my high school, and I was one of the official greeters (“You get Otis high, Otis will be your friend,” he told us as he got out of the car). I saw Van Halen in college (but missed the David Lee Roth era) and David Bowie on his Glass Spider Tour in Paris (with the Cult as his opening act). But that was pretty much it.

It was not until the ’90s that I began concert-going in earnest. In those days, one of my best friends, Mark Franz, was dating his now-wife, Sara, who lived in New York, so we would drive up to the city pretty much every weekend, playing mixtapes on the car’s cassette deck. As soon as we arrived, we’d grab a copy of the Village Voice to see which bands were playing. One day, we saw a postage-stamp-size ad that read: “ Donald Fagen and the New York Rock and Soul Revue at Lone Star Roadhouse.” Steely Dan had quit playing live back 1974. Could it really be that Donald Fagen? It was. We saw him play before a few hundred people — an unforgettable night.

Mark also turned me on to a group called Poi Dog Pondering he’d discovered as a student at the University of Texas in Austin. They never made the Billboard charts but are still my favorite band. We’d see them at the old 9:30 Club in D.C . and traveled up and down the East Coast for their shows. One of my as-yet-unfulfilled musical dreams: The lead singer, Frank Orrall, is an accomplished chef who will come to your house and cook dinner for you and play a set in your living room. Maybe to mark their 40th anniversary this year.

In 1996, I met my now-wife, Pam. I knew she was The One when she accepted my invitation to go on a first date to see … KISS . How could I not fall in love? She got me back years later when, for my 40th birthday, she took me to Las Vegas to see … Barry Manilow . (What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!)

We have four kids, and they have joined us on our eclectic musical journey. We wanted them to have a cool answer to the question “What was your first concert?” So, we took our oldest, Max, to see Van Halen with Roth back in the band in 2012. He got to hear “ Eruption ” — the greatest guitar solo of all time — live before Eddie Van Halen stopped performing a few years later (and died a few years after that). Max’s siblings, Jack, Eva and Lucy, saw Bon Jovi for their first show a few years later. (Truth be told, their first live show was the Wiggles — but that doesn’t really count.)

Almost a quarter-century after our first date, Pam and I took the whole family to see KISS on their End of the Road farewell tour. (My daughters and I wore full makeup.) Eva drove up to New York with me to see a-ha when they made a rare U.S. stop, and she joined me for the Sugarhill Gang (and even got a picture with Master Gee!). Lucy has gotten me into country and Christian music. She and I have gone to the Grand Ole Opry, where we saw Carrie Underwood, and we have seen Morgan Wallen , Rodney Atkins Zach Bryan and Lauren Daigle , as well as (at her insistence) Michael Bublé .

In turn, I have made it my mission to make sure they see music history live while they can. I would have given anything if my parents had taken me to see Sinatra at his height, or Elvis or Queen with Freddie Mercury before they died. So we’ve taken the kids to see many legendary acts: Diana Ross (age 79), the Rolling Stones (Mick Jagger and Keith Richards both 80), Paul McCartney (81), as well as U2. And this weekend, we went to see Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons . Valli is 89, and though he does not move much onstage anymore, his voice is still crisp and strong .

“Live music allows us a real, incarnational connection to the music we love,” Mark, my original partner in concert-going, told me. “Like time spent ‘in person’ with a friend versus a phone call. It’s spontaneous and a little unpredictable; something we all crave in our overscheduled, often virtual lives.”

And that brings me to one of the very best things about live music: sharing the experience with friends. Mark and Sara moved to Texas years ago, but we meet up for festivals and use those weekends to reconnect. And I have a core group of D.C. friends from my days on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee staff with whom I have seen every imaginable ’80s act: Erasure , Yaz , Alison Moyet , Depeche Mode , the Cure , the Pretenders , Duran Duran , Nile Rodgers and Chic , Simple Minds , Squeeze , the Fixx and Culture Club , to name only a few. Our friends Ziad Ojakli and Devon Spurgeon took us to the 2022 Mark Twain Prize ceremony at the Kennedy Center (where we saw Bruce Springsteen play an acoustic “Born to Run” and join Gary Clark Jr. for a rocking cover of the Beatles’ “ Come Together ”). And last week, they took us to see Elton John and Bernie Taupin receive the Library of Congress’s Gershwin Prize at DAR Constitution Hall (where we watched Annie Lennox do a stunning rendition of “Border Song,” Metallica perform “Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding” and John deliver incredible performances of “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting” and “Your Song”).

But the other great thing about live music is that you can always go by yourself. When Stevie Wonder came to town, no one could join me, so I went alone. In an age when many feel lonely and isolated, seeing a show is a great way to get out and connect with others who share your passion for music.

Another reason live music is magical is that you get to see not only the talent of the headliners but also just how accomplished all the band members are in their own right. My friend Matt Dyckman told me he had never really appreciated what an incredible guitarist Steve Stevens was until we saw him live with Billy Idol. And Billy Joel’s longtime sax player Mark Rivera brought down the house with his “ New York State of Mind ” solo at Nationals Park. Live shows also allow the artists to change up their classics with improvisations and orchestrations. I have seen Joe Jackson perform multiple unique arrangements of “ Is She Really Going Out With Him? ,” Paul Weller perform his Style Council classic “ My Ever Changing Moods ” with strings, and Idol and Stevens do an entire acoustic show .

One of my pet peeves is artists who don’t play their hits. Last year, I saw Peter Gabriel for the first time, and it took him over an hour to sing a single song anyone knew. (The crowd jumped to its feet when he finally got to “ Sledgehammer .”) I often love new material, but we’re there for the songs we already love. I also saw Elvis Costello last year, and he played almost nothing from his classic songbook and often seemed as though he couldn’t carry a tune — the only concert I regret attending. His opening act, Nick Lowe & Los Straitjackets , was spectacular, however.

I also hate it when politics gets in the way of music. Pat Benatar won’t play “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” live anymore to protest gun violence . (I’m pretty sure the song refers to sex, not firearms.) But I’m happy to see artists whose politics I disagree with — if I weren’t, I’d have a very narrow list to choose from. Last year, I saw John Mellencamp, an outspoken man of the left, for the first time. Hearing “ Pink Houses ” and “ Small Town ” live was well worth the political commentary. The only artist whose music I love but won’t see is Roger Waters. Antisemitism is a bridge too far for me.

The only time I wear my political allegiance openly is at ’80s festivals. Before the 2022 Cruel World festival in Pasadena, Calif., we toured the Reagan Ranch and the Reagan Presidential Library, where I bought a “Reagan-Bush ’84” baseball cap to wear to the show. To my surprise, I got compliments. “I would have hated that hat in the ’80s,” one person told me, “but now I kind of miss him.” And I have loved seeing my friend John Ondrasik of Five for Fighting perform “ Superman ” — which has become a 9/11 anthem and always brings me to tears as someone who was in the Pentagon that day — and can’t wait to see him play his incredible songs about Ukraine (“ Can One Man Save the World? ”) and the Oct. 7 Hamas attack in Israel (“ OK ”) live.

My other frustration are bands who stubbornly refuse to reunite. I’ve seen Sting, but the Police have not played together since 2008. The Eurythmics played an incredible eight-minute set at their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2022, and Annie Lennox’s voice is in peak form — but despite Dave Stewart’s pleading, she doesn’t tour. She reportedly hates travel. So do a residency somewhere, Annie — we’ll come to you! I saw David Byrne’s “American Utopia” on Broadway, where he played many of his Talking Heads hits, but he won’t tour with his former bandmates. I’m sure glad I got to see Hall & Oates live before they fell into a bitter legal dispute . And the Kinks keep teasing a reunion that never happens.

All of which makes me even more grateful for those artists who do tour despite physical infirmity. Phil Collins can no longer stand or play the drums because of a spinal injury, but he sang seated in a chair with Genesis recently for a final tour. Five years ago, Peter Frampton was diagnosed with degenerative inclusion body myositis, which causes muscle atrophy, so he launched a farewell tour. When it was over, he found that, though he could no longer stand through a show, his fingers still worked. So, he went on his Never Say Never Tour playing seated. He was incredible. (And he just launched his Never EVER Say Never Tour.)

The toughest “go or not go” calls are the one-hit wonders. You sometimes have to listen to an hour of songs that never made it (for a reason) just to hear the one great song you loved. Modern English were terrible except for “Melt With You.” Tommy Tutone had one big hit (“867-5309/Jenny”), and it was a great one. Fortunately, I saw him perform it on a triple bill with Men at Work and Rick Springfield (who played “Jessie’s Girl” shirtless at age 72 and pulled it off).

I’m still seeing artists for the first time. Over the past year or so, I’ve gone to my first Eagles and Elton John shows on their farewell tours, and seen the Doobie Brothers , reunited with Michael McDonald, on their 50th-anniversary tour (better late than never!), Bryan Adams , Joan Jett and the Blackhearts , ABC , Kenny Loggins , Journey , Toto , Alabama , Boz Scaggs and jazz legend Herbie Hancock (still going strong at 83!), as well as Genesis, Mellencamp, Gabriel and Bublé. (I would also have seen my first Aerosmith show, but Steven Tyler suffered a vocal cord injury). This coming year, I’m seeing Foreigner, Styx, Adam Ant, Bow Wow Wow, Thomas Dolby, Men Without Hats, Thompson Twins’ Tom Bailey, The Romantics, Wang Chung, General Public, Heatwave, the S.O.S. Band, the Black Crowes and the Beach Boys. But I’ve still got a long list of acts I’m longing to see.

Sadly, I never saw Ric Ocasek of the Cars, Robert Palmer, Tina Turner, Tony Bennett, Meat Loaf, J. Geils or Prince before they died. I was in Toronto in 2017 and Tom Petty was in town, but I skipped it — and he died not even three months later.

And this exposes the one big flaw in my plan: Even if I do see them all, eventually all my favorite artists will, like Sinatra, leave us. What then? I’m seeing many of the musicians I love performing well into their 70s and beyond. But who will I see in when I’m in my 70s? So, I’m on the lookout for younger acts. I’ve become a big fan of Mayer Hawthorne , Twin Tribes , Young Gun Silver Fox, Blossoms , Lovelytheband, Izo FitzRoy and Smoove & Turrell , among others. Even in late middle age, I still find immeasurable joy in discovering a new song and playing it until I know the words by heart — just like I did as a kid on my record player.

But as great as records are, nothing compares to seeing the songs you love performed live. So, I plan to keep going to see my favorites until they die — or I do.

What moment from a live music performance will you remember for the rest of your life? Submit your response.
