For the first time in forever, the Disney Cruise Line has added a brand-new ship to its fleet. The 4,000-passenger Disney Wish is the cruise line’s first new ship in 10 years, and it was worth the wait. Disney Wish is filled with magical experiences, innovative technology, cinematic dining adventures, and immersive storytelling that brings much-loved Disney characters to life.

Joining the rest of Disney’s fleet, Disney Magic , Disney Wonder , Disney Dream , and  Disney Fantasy , is Disney Cruise’s newest ship, the Disney Wish . This vacation experience is designed to please families and multigenerational groups as well as adults traveling without kids. This floating luxury resort is packed with boatloads of fun, superb family-friendly staterooms , and some royal suites. Disney Wish sails 3- and 4-night cruises from Port Canaveral, Florida to Nassau and Castaway Cay, Disney’s island in the Bahamas. Guests often combine these sailings with a few days at Walt Disney World to get the best Disney vacation on both land and sea.

Disney Wish excursions are highly popular due to their exceptional entertainment and high-quality service. With a wide range of activities tailored for all ages, they offer unforgettable boat experiences that complement the magic of Disney vacations, creating cherished memories for families worldwide.

I was invited by Disney Cruise Line to be their guest on the Disney Wish christening cruise. Several attractions and experiences still needed a little pixie dust to be fully ready, but we were able to sample nearly all of them during our 3-night sailing.

Here are my 10 favorite experiences on the new Disney Wish :

11 Things to Do on Disney Wish Excursions

1. making a grand entrance.

The dazzling Grand Hall on the Disney Wish.

There’s something special about stepping aboard the Disney Wish . The ship’s theme is “enchantment.” The magic comes alive when entering the dazzling fairytale-inspired Grand Hall. While boarding, a crew member announces your name to all those in the Grand Hall, and clapping ensues. While this occurs on every Disney Cruise Line ship, the Grand Hall’s opulent setting made me feel like I was being formally welcomed to Cinderella’s castle at sea.

The Grand Hall’s magnificent chandelier features a spectacular wishing star that comes alive at certain times through the wonders of technology. Children receive their own wishing wand upon boarding so they can make their first vacation wish when entering the Grand Hall. Make sure to return to the Grand Hall in the evening to experience the mesmerizing “Kiss Goodnight” during your  Disney Wish  cruise.

Pro Tip: Look for Disney princesses appearing on the balcony of the Grand Hall as you enter. Disney characters can often be seen in and around the Grand Hall during sailings. Check the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app for scheduled appearances.

2. Feeling Like A Kid Again

Chewbacca poses at Star Wars: Cargo Bay in Disney's Oceaneer Club on the Disney Wish.

The Disney Wish is an exceptional vacation destination for kids, teens, and adults who love staying connected with their inner child. Guests become immersed in a wonderland of familiar stories and beloved Disney characters. I always look forward to seeing the magic through kids’ eyes on a Disney cruise , and the Disney Wish kids’ and teen’s clubs are out of this world. Adults will be jealous, and kids won’t want to leave.

Disney’s Oceaneer Club

Disney’s Oceaneer Club is the best cruise ship area I’ve seen for children ages three to 12. The kids club features more extraordinarily well-themed areas than ever, including Fairytale Hall, Star Wars : Cargo Bay, Marvel Super Hero Academy, Walt Disney Imagineering Lab, and Mickey and Minnie Captain’s Deck. The attention to detail in these spaces is mind-blowing, particularly in Star Wars: Cargo Bay. Children can check in to Disney’s Oceaneer Club in the Grand Hall, then slide “down the rabbit hole” directly to their club on Deck 2.

Pro Tip: Adults can access Disney’s Oceaneer Club and the Oceaneer Club slide at the open house on embarkation day and during select Oceaneer Club open house events throughout the voyage. Ride the slide — your inner child will love it!

“It’s A Small World” Nursery

Plus other kids’ and young adult areas.

Kids of all ages have their special place on the Disney Wish . “It’s a small world” nursery caters to young cruisers ages six months to three years, while tweens and teens have their own hangouts. Edge is for tweens aged 11 to 14 and teens aged 14 to 17 have stylish Vibe. There’s also The Hideaway, a multi-purpose area that hosts events for young adults aged 18 to 20.

3. Riding AquaMouse

AquaMouse attraction on the Disney Wish.

Disney calls AquaMouse its “first Disney attraction at sea,” and this first-of-its-kind water coaster delivers tons of family fun. As an avid lover of waterslides and coasters, AquaMouse was a must-do on my Disney Wish voyage. Based on The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse series, the ride includes 760 feet of tubes winding around the ship’s top deck, over 60 water features, special lighting effects, an entertaining cinematic show, and spectacular ocean views.

Guests board their two-seat ride raft and are conveyed through the lift hill tunnel while watching one of two new Disney animated short cartoons. Then, you’re off on a wild ride up around the ship’s upper decks, jetting up and down via speed blasters. It’s a cute ride — and you will certainly get wet.

AquaMouse age and height requirements make the attraction accessible to many families with kids. The water ride is fun and adventurous without being too scary or overwhelming for younger kids. The Disney Wish family area also features six pools, plus a Toy Story Splash Zone for little ones.

Pro Tip: AquaMouse lines can be lengthy, so go first thing in the morning or during dinner seatings. If there are long lines, check out Chip ’n Dale’s Pool on Deck 14. It offers covered loungers and incredible views.

4. Adults-Only Restaurants

Six-later carrot cake at the Palo Steakhouse on Disney Wish.

Palo Steakhouse

Palo Steakhouse is one of two exquisite adults-only specialty dining venues on Disney Wish . It’s an elegant Beauty and the Beast -inspired setting with wraparound floor-to-ceiling windows, cozy booths, and spectacular views. The service and cuisine are exceptional. Our meal at Palo Steakhouse was one of the best we’ve had on a cruise and included antipasti, Japanese A5 Wagyu beef, pan-seared salmon, and butternut squash agnolotti. The tiramisu and six-layer carrot cake are decadent and delicious.

Enchanté By Chef Arnaud Lallement

The ship’s second adults-only dining experience is Enchanté by Chef Arnaud Lallement , a celebrated gourmet restaurant created by three-star Michelin French Chef Arnaud Lallement.

Pro Tip: There’s an additional charge to dine at both restaurants . Guests must be 18 or older, and reservations should be made as far in advance as possible.\

5. The Pirate’s Rockin’ Parlay Party

Fireworks display on the Disney Wish during the Pirate's Rockin' Parlay Party.

Disney’s parks are famed for their spectacular nighttime events, so it’s no surprise this floating theme park at sea has an amazing celebration as well. The “ Pirate’s Rockin’ Parlay Party ” is a brand-new version of Disney Cruise Line’s pirate-themed nighttime deck party featuring live rock ‘n’ roll music, stunts, amazing special effects, and even a fireworks show at sea.

Inspired by Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, the Pirate Night extravaganza features Captain Redd and her pirate band along with an appearance by Captain Jack Sparrow. Disney Cruise Line is the only cruise line that includes fireworks shows regularly on its voyages, and I always look forward to their dazzling displays.

Pro Tip: The fireworks launch over the Disney ship’s starboard side. We watched from Deck 12, and the views were incredible.

6. Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge

Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge bar on the Disney Wish. Space battle projected behind the window.

I couldn’t wait to experience Disney Wish’s Star Wars -themed bar at sea, and the immersive experience lived up to the hype for me. Yes, there’s a $5,000 drink on the menu, but this venue is so much more. The lounge is designed to feel like a lavish starcruiser where guests can sip creative intergalactic concoctions while enjoying the panoramic vistas of galaxies far, far away. I was completely mesmerized watching the action-packed encounters and stunning views of places like Endor and Tatooine. The viewport’s scenes blur as the ship periodically “jumps” to a new location via hyperspace, and it’s hard to get bored.

The highly themed cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks here are great. Some of our favorites included the zero-proof Temple Twist, The Golden One from the Moons of Endor, Berken’s Flow, and The Chancellor — complete with an added bubble of cinnamon smoke.

Pro Tip: This sought-after experience is currently limited to 45 minutes. Guests can make reservations using the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app on embarkation day once they are on board. Families can access the lounge during the day, but the space converts to adults-only at 9 p.m.

7. Disney Wish ’s Rotational Dining

Ant-Man and the Wasp visit a table at the Worlds of Marvel "cinematic dining experience".

Disney Wish offers three rotational specialty quality dining venues for guests, including the first and only Frozen and Marvel-inspired restaurants at sea. No surcharges are involved, and your wait staff moves dining rooms with you each night.

Worlds Of Marvel

Worlds of Marvel is an interactive cinematic delight featuring Avengers: Quantum Encounter starring Ant-Man and the Wasp. The dining experience is filled with mission-intensive storytelling, Marvel-inspired menu items, and character appearances that will keep both adults and kids engaged. Each table has a quantum core, and we had fun interacting with it to help save the day.

Pro Tip: It’s great to attend the Marvel Super Hero Academy open house to get the backstory for the Worlds of Marvel cinematic entertainment show.

Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure

Celebrate the engagement of Queen Anna and Kristoff at Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure . This entertaining dinner theater-type experience stars favorite characters from Disney’s blockbuster hit Frozen . Guests will enjoy the character interactions, live band, great food, and fantastic entertainers who bring the world of Frozen to life. The Nordic-style cuisine is excellent here, particularly the seafood.

Disney Wish ‘s third restaurant, 1923 , offers a classy entertainment-free dining experience where the food is the star of the show. One half of the restaurant is dedicated to Walt Disney and the other to Roy Disney.

8. Adults-Only Areas

The Bayou, an adults-only lounge on the Disney Wish inspired by The Princess and the Frog

The Disney Wish was designed to cater to adults sailing without children as well as parents and grandparents traveling with kids. As a result, there are plenty of adult-only spaces spread across multiple decks, and the cocktail lounges are superb. My favorites were The Rose, Nightingale’s, and The Bayou , a stunning magnolia-canopied lounge inspired by Disney Animation Studios’ film The Princess and the Frog .

Additional memorable adults-only spots on the Disney Wish include the Quiet Cove’s aft-facing infinity pool, the Moana- inspired Cove Café, and the Senses Spa’s Rainforest experience featuring a brand-new outdoor oasis. Purchase rainforest passes as far in advance as possible.

Pro Tip: There’s live jazz music in the evenings at The Bayou and live piano music at Nightingale’s. If you want to have more time for evening entertainment, it might be best to choose the early dinner seating.

9. Enchanting New Shows

"Disney The Little Mermaid," an original stage adaptation of "The Little Mermaid" exclusively on the Disney Wish.

Disney Cruise Line ’s entertainment is Broadway-caliber, and the Walt Disney Theatre’s immersive performances bring the magic to life. We saw previews of Disney The Little Mermaid and Disney Seas the Adventure , two brand-new shows making their debut on the Disney Wish . Both were outstanding. Guests will also be able to enjoy a reimagined adaptation of Disney’s Aladdin — A Musical Spectacular on future Disney Wish sailings.

Entertainment choices abound on the Disney Wish , including free first-run movie showings in the Never Land and Wonderland cinemas, shows and interactive features on the Grand Hall’s atrium stage, and programming in the new Luna entertainment hub. This wealth of indoor entertainment options will help keep families happy, even in inclement weather.

Pro Tip: Wheelchair-accessible seating is available in Disney Wish cinemas and the Walt Disney Theatre. Starting 30 minutes before show times, crew members are available at the Deck 3 entrance to the Walt Disney Theatre to assist guests to wheelchair-accessible seating.

10. Incredible, Interactive Games

An obstacle course in the Incredi-Games in the Hero Zone sports arena on the Disney Wish.

Disney Uncharted Adventure

Disney Uncharted Adventure is a first-of-its-kind interactive game played through the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app. We previewed this free immersive experience on our sailing, and it takes storytelling to a new level. Guests can create their own avatars and then head out on themed quests throughout the ship. The multidimensional journey features augmented reality and special effects, unlocking hidden layers of magic around the ship. I loved being immersed in this adventure, and the technology is amazing.

Pro Tip: Disney Uncharted Adventure is a fantastic experience to play with family and friends. Families can play together by linking up to six mobile devices at once or team up by using just one or two devices at a time.

More action-packed games are available in Disney Wish’s Hero Zone sports arena. Don’t miss running through The Incredibles -themed inflatable obstacle course, which is featured in the ship’s Incredi-Games experience. It’s lots of fun, and it’s not just for kids. Time slots are pre-announced, so check the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app to see when the obstacle course will be available.

11. Experience a Port Adventure During Cruises

Exploring the ports on your own is an option, but you can also choose to purchase Disney’s Port Adventures. Known also as Shore Excursions, or Port Excursions, Disney Cruise Line Port Adventures have one thing in common. They offer a great opportunity to embark on a local adventure.

You might have hundreds of possibilities to choose from depending on the destination and there’s a port excursion for every budget. You can spend under $20 on a two-seater paddle boat at Castaway Cay or you can charter a private fishing vessel for the day in Tortola, BVI for several thousands.

It’s common for the more popular shore excursions to sell out well in advance so book as early as possible. Just don’t let the priciest options scare you away. Many excursions fall well below a hundred dollars per person and are quite reasonable.

Some port adventures include a bus ride of several hours where much of your time is spent getting to your destination and back to the ship so you should consider these carefully before booking them.

Pro Tip: The total transportation time is included in the description of the port excursion, or ask at the Port Adventures desk.

What Are Disney’s Port Adventures?

Port Adventures are Disney’s shore excursions that have been specially selected by Disney Cruise Line and include the very best each destination has to offer. Port Adventures and other booked onboard activities are charged to Disney Cruise Line guests’ onboard accounts.

How to Make a Disney Cruise Line Reservation?

A Disney Cruise Line reservation is easy to make on their cruise listing page. You can also make reservations through your tour operators or by calling Disney Cruises. Available cruises are listed by Ports of Departure, Ports of Call, Port Adventures, or Disney Cruise Ship.

What Is Disney’s Private Island?

Almost all of Disney’s Bahamian and Caribbean cruises include a day at Disney’s private island: Castaway Cay, which is a tiny islet in the Bahamas. For many people, Castaway Cay is the best part of a cruise.

How to Pick the Best Disney Port Adventures and Shore Excursions?

The best is to take a hard look at the description of your port adventures and shore excursions. Is there a meal included? Is it just transportation to a destination and back? Many Caribbean shore excursions are simply putting you on a bus and driving you to the sand.

Why Are Disney Cruises Special?

From immersive dining adventures to Disney’s first-ever attraction at sea, these Disney ships present truly magical vacations that visit many exciting destinations. It offers kids’ clubs and activities to suit babies through teens and has several adult-only areas on the ship.

All our wishes came true when a new Disney cruise ship made its grand debut last summer. The Disney Wish joined the fleet in 2022 with a collection of innovative and exciting experiences for the whole family to enjoy. Here are some of the enchanted offerings you’ll find aboard the newest ship:

1. Welcome Aboard

As you board the Disney Wish, your party will be greeted by name, and a bronze-sculpted Cinderella will welcome you into the Grand Hall. The Disney Wish is the first ship in the fleet to have an atrium stage where princesses and princes alike will make special appearances throughout your sailing. If you visit the Grand Hall at either 10 p.m. or midnight, you will be delighted with a magical moment and a special kiss goodnight.

2. Signature Dining

Rotational dining ensures all guests can enjoy all three themed dining experiences while on board. Your party and service team will rotate to a different table service restaurant each night. As part of your rotational dining experience on the Disney Wish, you’ll be transported to the golden age of animation at 1923 , assemble for an action-packed Avengers mission at Worlds of Marvel , and enjoy a dining experience worth melting for at Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure .

3. Broadway-Style Entertainment

Spend your first night on board at a live performance of “ Disney Seas the Adventure ,” a heartwarming story featuring songs and characters from some of your favorite Disney films. If you love the classics, you won’t want to miss an evening of unbelievable sights and indescribable feelings at “ Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular .” After a long day in the sand, sit back and enjoy the hot crustacean band at a theatrical retelling of the animated film “ The Little Mermaid .”

4. Adult-Exclusives

The Disney Wish is home to a variety of luxurious experiences for adults to unwind and indulge in. The fan-favorite adults-only dining experience, Palo, has evolved to Palo Steakhouse , offering the carefully crafted Italian cuisine you know and love in addition to the world’s finest steaks. Enchanté by Chef Arnaud Lallement is an elegant restaurant where adults can enjoy a gourmet menu of exceptional French-inspired fare. These two “Beauty and the Beast”-inspired restaurants are sure to satisfy your tastebuds. Don’t believe me? Ask the dishes! Check out the collection of bars and lounges on board for late-night drinks, dancing, and entertainment.

For an adults-only spa experience unlike any other, visit Senses Spa. The Rainforest on the Disney Wish is the first to encompass indoor and outdoor spaces where adults can relax and rejuvenate. The indoor space features heated loungers, an aromatherapy steam room, a dry sauna, and an all-new ice room. The first-of-its-kind outdoor area offers a private oasis complete with whirlpool spas and comfortable lounging areas.

5. Just for Kids

While adults take advantage of those exclusive experiences, the rest of your crew can enjoy age-appropriate, supervised fun at the Kids Clubs. The Oceaneer Club is home to interactive themed experiences, like Walt Disney Imagineering Lab, where aspiring Imagineers can get a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to bring Disney magic to life. They’ll even have a chance to participate in hands-on experiments and design their very own attraction! The young Avengers onboard can put their skills to the test and suit up for a virtual battle at Marvel Super Hero Academy.

6. Poolside Fun

Whether you’re looking to go for a swim or just get your feet wet, the Disney Wish has got you covered! The entire family can make a splash in the reimagined pool deck area, featuring six pools of various depths and sizes. If you’re a thrill-seeker, check out the AquaMouse , the first-ever attraction at sea. This exciting new water coaster with animated scenes and special effects will take you on a journey above the upper decks.

Disney Wish: 9 things to know about Disney's newest ship

It's official: Disney's "Wish" has indeed come true, as Disney Cruise Line 's first new ship in a decade has joined the fleet.

Disney Cruise Line describes itself as "where magic meets the sea" — and now that it's recently wrapped up a media preview sailing of the ship, we can confirm that it is not only magical but also absolutely beautiful and very different from the other four Disney ships .

For more cruise news, reviews and tips, sign up for TPG's cruise newsletter .

Since 1998, Disney has embraced many of the same skills it uses while making its captivating movies to create a real-life setting on its first four ships that transports guests to a world where almost anything feels possible.

With its original class of ships, Disney introduced "magic" portholes in interior staterooms, fireworks celebrations at sea, paintings that "move," rotational dining rooms that transform and four age-specific kids clubs where children actually want to spend time.

Given the opportunity to design the first all-new Disney ship in 10 years and ultimately set the stage for the next class of ships at Disney Cruise Line, Disney Imagineers had both an exciting opportunity and an almost Herculean task of creating a whole new level of magic on the first of these new ships: Disney Wish.

disney wish three day cruise

Sailing from Port Canaveral for three- and four-night itineraries to the Bahamas for the foreseeable future, Disney Cruise Line's fifth ship is a stunning departure from its sister ships, to say the least.

Here are nine things unique to Disney Wish that we feel really set it apart.

Upgraded rooms and suites

disney wish three day cruise

I'll happily admit to being a sucker for a suite at sea and Disney concierge service amenities, but all of the cabins on Wish are a big step up for Disney Cruise Line.

Disney Wish cabins have a more subdued and upscale vibe than the cabins on Disney's four other ships, with a fairy-tale aesthetic featuring flourishes of gold and hidden surprises, such as special lighting effects over the pull-out bunk bed for kids.

In total, there are 1,254 rooms, 70% of which have balconies (or verandahs, as Disney calls them). Additionally, more than one-third (451) have connecting doors. There is a record number of concierge-level staterooms and suites, too, with 76 available (double the number of concierge-designated accommodations you'll find on other Disney vessels).

Each one-bedroom concierge suite has a separate living room, walk-in closets, two 43-inch TVs and two bathrooms, one of which features a rain shower, a bathtub and a double vanity.

New to Disney Wish are seven ocean-view rooms located over the bridge — a first for Disney Cruise Line. These rooms have an extended living area with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the bow and ocean.

disney wish three day cruise

And if all of that isn't enough, there are four royal suites with a "Sleeping Beauty" theme, two of which feature a wild, two-story floor plan. Hey, it's free to dream, isn't it? So, let's fantasize about the soaking tub, private hot tub, two master bedrooms, spiral staircase and two-deck-high stained-glass frieze.

disney wish three day cruise

For cruisers who enjoy booking a room with access to the Concierge Lounge, Disney says it is more than triple the size of lounges on previous Disney ships, offering a "full bar, delicious light bites … an outdoor terrace with incredible views" and a special area for kids.

There is a private sun deck with two whirlpools, a wading pool and a bar, which is great news, as the main Disney pool areas tend to get pretty crowded.

If you want the best of the best, go for the almost 2,000-square-foot Wish Tower Suite, which is set in the forward funnel of the ship. It's hard to believe this is an actual place people can stay on a ship.

All-new on-ship attractions

Star wars: hyperspace lounge takes you to another galaxy.

I'll spare you the "out of this world" puns to describe the adult-focused Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge on Disney Wish.

However, after watching (and feeling) the ship make multiple jumps to hyperspace, I can tell you this is a must-visit spot to grab a drink. You'll love sipping a space-themed cocktail at the bar while watching ships pass by — even if you don't go for the $5,000 "Star Wars" drink .

disney wish three day cruise

Ships from all timelines of the "Star Wars" franchise fly across seven monitors that feature such insanely high resolutions that it really looks like Star Destroyers, TIE Fighters, the Millennium Falcon and more are right outside. The Imagineers worked closely with Lucasfilm to unlock the entire library of ships. Every ship that whizzes by has a name, a story and a place in the greater "Star Wars" universe. You can expect to take that jump through hyperspace to a different part of the galaxy every seven minutes or so.

To keep things as comfortable and immersive as possible, the direction you fly on the screens is indeed the same direction the cruise ship is heading, giving the experience an even more realistic feel.

But this space doesn't merely focus on what is happening "outside" — there's a whole lot going on inside the high-end, sophisticated lounge as well. While it's not as immersive as Disney's other "Star Wars" bars when you factor out the high-tech windows, it's still a cool — and very popular — space.

disney wish three day cruise

Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge is open to families during the day, but every night starting at 9 p.m., the yacht-style lounge transforms into an adults-only venue ideal for kicking back and enjoying galactic-themed cocktails.

You'll enter the lounge via a room that is dark and serves as a "palate cleanser" from the rest of the ship. Then, once inside, everything from the custom furniture to the liquor bottles and specialty cocktails to the tap handles for the beer is themed accordingly.

As a child of the 1980s who lived and breathed all things "Star Wars" growing up, I had a blast enjoying a few otherworldly drinks from this gold-laden lounge with views of the universe beyond. It's no "Star Wars" hotel , but it's still pretty memorable.

disney wish three day cruise

And, fine, maybe on my next Wish cruise I'll bring my kids here during the day, too.

The waterslide is more than just a waterslide

If you've sailed on Disney Dream or Disney Fantasy, you've likely experienced the AquaDuck waterslide .

Disney is calling the AquaMouse (the waterslide on Disney Wish) the "first-ever Disney attraction at sea," which is a big statement for a company that knows attractions.

disney wish three day cruise

The AquaMouse, which any cruiser who is at least 42 inches tall can ride, features show scenes, lighting effects, a dark tunnel, an original soundtrack and more than 60 water effects for a two-minute ride that spans 760 feet of tubing above the upper decks (and there are two totally different experiences available ).

The waterslide had a few issues on our preview cruise, so not all the effects were working, but my understanding is that the two storylines (Port Misadventures and Swiss Meltdown) will be available on a schedule of alternating days.

These shows are done in the same style as the newer Mickey shorts and what is featured at Hollywood Studios' Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway. The cartoon scenes take place across multiple 85-inch screens during the 75 seconds you are traveling up the tunnel while you get soaked in a raft built for two.

disney wish three day cruise

At the height of the show, you blast out of the tunnel and embark on a water ride around the upper decks. This ride also includes a series of speed blasters before its grand finale: a soaring loop over the edge of the ship. As an added bonus, you won't have to carry your own raft to the start of the ride.

I'm not sure the experience was so different than AquaDuck to label it a full-on attraction like you'd find in the theme parks, but it is certainly a waterslide worth checking out.

Lots of (really good) pools

One feature that was a bit under-hyped leading up to the first Wish sailing was the pools.

disney wish three day cruise

There are more of them on Disney Wish than you'll find on the other Disney ships, and they are spread out, so you have a better chance of finding one that is tucked away and less crowded.

disney wish three day cruise

The adults-only pool is especially worth mentioning, as it is an infinity pool that looks off the back of the ship. That said, all of the pools are much better than others I've seen on Disney Cruise Line.

disney wish three day cruise

New rotational restaurants

The first four Disney cruise ships revolutionized dinner at sea by introducing a trio of themed restaurants where you — and the serving crew and other guests — rotate together throughout the nights of your cruise.

Disney Wish retains the rotational dining format but with a lineup of all-new dining experiences.

Worlds of Marvel

When it's your turn to dine in the Worlds of Marvel restaurant, which is the first-ever Marvel cinematic dining adventure, you'll have a role to play in saving the universe. As you eat at one of the 120 tables, you'll have access to a "quantum core" to use throughout your meal.

disney wish three day cruise

Between courses, all of which are inspired by the Marvel cinematic universe, there's a three-act event that starts off with Ant-Man and the Wasp doing a demonstration of what your quantum core can do.

During the main portion of the dinner service, the screens all around the room highlight the technology used by the superheroes, such as Captain America's shield and the vibranium that comes from Wakanda.

disney wish three day cruise

The real excitement begins toward the end of your meal.

I won't give away the ending, but you can expect a supervillain as well as some extra help from "good guys" like Captain Marvel and Captain America. You'll also need to use your quantum core in the battle against evil, so don't fill up too much on shrunken desserts until you save the ship.

disney wish three day cruise

Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure

Next up on our foodie tour around the ship is Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure . This is Disney's first "Frozen"-themed theatrical dining experience.

disney wish three day cruise

The show takes place immediately after "Frozen II" and celebrates the engagement of Kristoff and Anna with immersive live entertainment performed in the round of the dining room.

disney wish three day cruise

The Arendelle menu is Nordic-influenced, though there are options from a little closer to home, too, should you prefer less-adventurous items. The food here was some of our favorite on the ship, and the show was also pretty top-notch. There's even a celebration line toward the end similar to what happens in Tiana's Place aboard Disney Wonder .

But seriously, don't miss this dinner unless you hate "Frozen," live music and all things fun. In that case, maybe consider booking Palo.

The last of Disney Wish's new rotational restaurants is 1923, which is named after the year the Walt Disney Company was founded.

disney wish three day cruise

Disney says this restaurant features the best of the golden age of Hollywood, with the style of the furniture inspired by what was actually in Walt's office. The menu pays tribute to the company's Californian roots, and the dining room has a more intimate feel thanks to being divided into two equal parts that mirror each other.

disney wish three day cruise

While there are not any villains or live entertainment here, the more laid-back setting is much appreciated, especially if you're seeking a similar dining pace and styling to what's available on the first four Disney ships.

However, if you are on a shorter cruise and need to skip one or more of the included restaurants to try out one of the adults-only spaces, this may be the one to forgo, unless you prefer quiet dinners. You can also visit for breakfast or lunch on certain days if you're set on working it into your cruise.

Additional dining options

The list of places to eat aboard Disney Wish is actually even longer than the three previously mentioned rotational dining restaurants.

For those willing to spend a little extra (and lucky enough to snag a reservation), the adults-only restaurants on Wish shouldn't be missed. Options include Palo Steakhouse, which combines the best of high-end Italian cuisine with a steakhouse in a setting that features subtle nods to "Beauty and the Beast," and Enchanté, where French-inspired fare concocted by the same chef who was behind the food at Remy (an upscale restaurant on board Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy) is on the menu.

I tried out Palo while on Disney Wish, and it was over-the-top amazing when it came to the service, the views and, of course, the food itself.

disney wish three day cruise

Connecting both of these luxe dining options is The Rose, a lounge that offers wine, small bites and other adult-focused items designed for pre- or post-dinner enjoyment.

disney wish three day cruise

These restaurants and the adjacent lounge are absolutely gorgeous, and the food ranks as some of the best I've ever had ... anywhere.

A meal at Palo will start at around $45 per person, though that's for the set menu. A la carte items where the price is not set are available, too. Meals at Enchanté cost $125 per person for the set menu or you can order a la carte dishes. At The Rose, drinks are by the glass, so you can pop in whenever you're free — and you should, as it's an incredibly elegant spot ideal for unwinding without kids.

disney wish three day cruise

If you're looking for a casual venue to dine in with kids, be sure to check out the new version of the buffet: Marceline Market. Named after Walt Disney's hometown in Missouri, this eatery has 10 food stalls and a beverage center. Each station features a Disney movie theme, such as "Tangled," "Ratatouille," "Alice in Wonderland" or "Zootopia."

The food was delicious here, and I appreciated the addition of a place to order premium coffee and other beverages adjacent to the market. Know, though, that the seafood is a little hidden. You'll find it tucked away from the other stalls all the way in the aft.

disney wish three day cruise

On the upper deck, you'll discover a number of poolside options, including Mickey's Smokestack Barbecue, Donald's Cantina, Daisy's Pizza Pies, Goofy's Grill and Sweet Minnie's Ice Cream.

disney wish three day cruise

This food is vastly better than the pool deck food I've had on other Disney ships, so be sure to save time for at least one meal out on the deck. Don't skip the hot sauce bar, either.

A reimagined kids club

For families, one of the best parts of a family cruise with Disney Cruise Line is that kids often want to go to the complimentary kids clubs. This gives grown-ups a chance to have a drink, not rush through dinner and enjoy a few moments to themselves.

While this holds true on all the Disney ships, my 6-year-old never wanted to leave the kids club on Disney Wish.

disney wish three day cruise

In a pure stroke of genius, Disney added a fun, unconventional way for kids to enter the Oceaneer Club. After checking into the kids club from the Grand Hall on Deck 3, children can zip down a magical slide that takes them straight into the space on Deck 2.

disney wish three day cruise

In addition to the Oceaneer Club for kids ages 3 to 12, Disney Wish retains the cruise line's other kids clubs: Edge (for children ages 11 to 14) and Vibe (for teens ages 14 to 17). There's also the colorful Small World Nursery, which is a fee-based option open to the littlest baby and toddler sailors.

Kids club highlights include the Oceaneer Club's Marvel Super Hero Academy, where kids can design (and virtually fly in) their own super suit. This club also houses Rapunzel's Art Studio, Belle's Library and Anna and Elsa's Sommerhus, where there will be a variety of games with Olaf serving as the host. Additionally, there's a Disney Imagineering Lab that offers kids opportunities to design and virtually ride their own roller coasters and more — similar to how the real Imagineers take their concepts from the drawing board to actual attractions.

In Deck 5's tween club, Edge, kids can hang out in a New York City -inspired loft space with a faux-grass picnic area, photo walls and an entrance hidden behind a framed piece of art.

disney wish three day cruise

And at the teen club, Vibe, the decor draws inspiration from a Parisian loft, offering lots of spots to lounge, watch movies, meet new people and play games. Honestly, this space looked so cool, I'd want to hang out there myself.

disney wish three day cruise

New activities for the family

Olaf's royal picnic.

If your kids have always wanted to celebrate summer via a picnic with Olaf in Arendelle's Castle, they are in luck on the Wish. Set in an indoor space with a backdrop of a meadow of flowers, Olaf's Royal Picnic features Olaf, Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and a song-filled picnic complete with a ton of goodies for the kids to keep.

Unlike the included rotational restaurants, this experience costs extra. Expect to pay a hefty fee of $220 per child and $69 per adult.

We weren't able to try it out during the media preview cruise, as it wasn't available for testing at the time, but we'll be sure to report back once we do.

Wishing wands

A Disney Cruise Line embarkation greeting was already extremely special, but the company has dialed up the magic for kids sailing on Disney Wish. Every child that boards the ship receives a wishing wand to make a "first wish" of the trip and to wish again in the Grand Hall on the final night of the voyage. The latter even features a special appearance by none other than the ship's Fairy Godmother, who kicks off a farewell show.

disney wish three day cruise

Inside Out: Joyful Sweets

If you've visited Vanellope's Sweets & Treats Shop on Disney Dream, you already know how big children's eyes can get over the massive sundaes and sugary concoctions.

On the Wish, there's a new dessert shop called Inside Out: Joyful Sweets, where about 40 flavors of gelato and ice cream are served.

disney wish three day cruise

So far, I can vouch for the PB&J and Kit Kat gelato flavors — but really, you can't go wrong with any flavor you choose. There are even a few plant-based options available.

Should you crave a cupcake instead of gelato or ice cream, you're in luck: You'll have your pick of emotion-flavored cupcakes, such as Joy (lemon), Sadness (blueberry), Disgust (pistachio), Anger (red velvet) and Fear (bubble gum).

Fantastic adults-only spaces

While the kids are at the variety of clubs designed for them, adults can take advantage of spaces for the 18-and-older crowd. In fact, that's one reason why I love Disney cruises so much — the kids want to do the kids activities, which means adults get to enjoy amenities designed for us, too.

The adults-only spaces on Disney Wish are not clustered together in one area like they are on Disney's other ships. Instead, they are sprinkled throughout, with several located right next door to a kids club.

We've already talked about The Rose near Palo and Enchanté and Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge, but on the same deck as the Hyperspace Lounge by the main kids club, there are two additional lounges worth noting: Nightingale's piano bar and The Bayou, a New Orleans -themed space inspired by "The Princess and the Frog."

disney wish three day cruise

Both have delicious drinks, but Nightingale's offers a more upscale vibe than what you'll find at The Bayou, which features more of a full-on party setting, especially when live music is playing.

disney wish three day cruise

Additionally, this ship is the first in Disney's lineup to provide an outdoor space at its Senses Spa. It's an ideal place to relax while taking in the fresh sea air.

disney wish three day cruise

For adults craving a pint, there is also the Keg & Compass pub, which draws inspiration from an 1800s Norwegian sailor's map room. It serves three custom craft brews you can only get on Disney Wish.

disney wish three day cruise

Lastly, there's a space made for adults seeking extra pampering beyond the spa. At the bright and airy Untangled Salon, you can treat yourself to a number of hair and nail services, including haircuts, blowouts and manicures.

disney wish three day cruise

New Broadway-style shows and entertainment

Disney Wish has a full roster of new Broadway -style shows, along with several other new entertainment offerings.

On embarkation night in the Walt Disney Theatre, which now has an enchanted forest design, there is a "Disney Seas The Adventure" show that stars Captain Minnie, Goofy and other Disney and Pixar characters.

disney wish three day cruise

Disney Wish is also home to "A Treasure Retold – Disney The Little Mermaid," which is said to be an original Broadway-style stage adaptation of the 1989 animated movie — with a modern twist.

Additionally, the ship offers "Disney's Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular" on one night of every cruise. This show is a reimagined adaptation of the classic film, depicting it as a fast-paced musical comedy.

Don't forget to pack your eye patches and bandanas, as pirate nights are a go with a "Pirate's Rockin' Parlay Party." And yes, there are pretty substantial fireworks out on deck that night.

A 'hidden' layer of magic

While it wasn't quite operational on our preview cruise, a few months ago, Disney gave TPG a sneak peek at an all-new way that guests can become a part of the story of the ship — and even control some of what happens on board — via the Disney Uncharted Adventure interactive game.

This game continues the Disney tradition of using technology to unlock new ways to tell stories. The technology may be complex, but what shines front and center is the story and the magic it creates.

Before you even leave home for your Disney cruise, you'll learn a bit about how your phone will transform into a "spyglass" from Captain Minnie herself. Then, once you are on your cruise, you'll be able to join an interactive adventure to help recover pieces of a fractured wishing star that have landed in the worlds of Moana, Peter Pan, Princess Tiana and Nemo. You can do as little or as much of this adventure as you want.

While you do need a smartphone to participate, this isn't a game you play by yourself as you stare down at your device.

disney wish three day cruise

Instead, this adventure for the whole family takes you all around the ship as you complete parts of the quest. Using your spyglass, you'll see menu boards transform into messages from Princess Tiana, you'll find "hidden" constellations in the sky and perhaps even bring the glass slipper to life in the Grand Hall.

Those who participate in the Uncharted Adventure game will have the ability to unlock a hidden layer of magic all around the ship. This will all conclude with a big finale on the last night of your cruise when you help battle the evilest witch in the sea in an epic live event.

How to book the Disney Wish

You can book cabins on sailings starting in August 2022. Prices start around $3,000 for double occupancy or $5,000 if sailing as a family with two adults and two kids.

If you are not in a rush to board and are looking for a more affordable price, you can book a cabin for four people in early 2023 for about $3,000 or a cabin for double occupancy for about $1,700.

Disney Wish is based out of Port Canaveral and sails a mix of three- and four-night sailings to the Bahamas. Each includes a stop at Disney's private island, Castaway Cay. If you want more time on the ship, you can book back-to-back cruises to create your own seven-night journey.

Related: Best credit cards for booking a cruise

disney wish three day cruise

Bookings typically require 20% down, with the full amount due closer to sailing. TPG has an array of tips to save money on a Disney Cruise that you can use to keep costs under control.

You can book directly with Disney Cruise Line or via a travel agent and potentially get goodies like an onboard sailing credit . TPG also has a Disney booking partner in Mouse Counselors , should you want assistance with booking your cruise.

Bottom line

Walt Disney himself once said, "We don't look backward for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things."

The creation of Disney Wish embodies this forward progress by charting its own path with a new style for staterooms, all-new restaurants, a different layout, additional pools, new ways to unlock "hidden magic" and more.

Disney Wish doesn't leave the past completely in its wake, though. The exterior of the ship retains that same modern classic design, and you'll still have access to beloved Disney characters, Broadway-caliber shows and entertainment on board.

Without question, Disney Wish is in a class of its own for Disney Cruise Line — at least, until the next two ships join the fleet in the coming years. I can't wait to sail it all over again.

Disney Wish Itineraries

Disney wish review, review of disney wish.

The 2021-built/2022-inaugurated DCL Disney Wish cruise ship is The Walt Disney Company's newest and the first in a series of all three newbuilds . The Disney ship Wish was originally scheduled for launch in 2021-Q4 (inauguration by Christmas 2021) and to start passenger shipping operations in January 2022. However, due to COVID-related issues (shipbuilding yard closures, supply chain disruptions), the liner's introduction was postponed for 2022-Q2 (July).

MS Disney Wish is DCL fleet 's 5th vessel. The other two units from this series (TRITON-class sisterships) are with postponed launches and deliveries currently scheduled for 2024 ( Disney Treasure ) and 2025 (Disney tbn). The TRITON-class is very similar (as size and capacity) to the sisterships Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy . The new boats will be year-round deployed in the Caribbean and Florida-homeported - in PortMiami (Disney 2025) and Port Canaveral (Disney Wish, Disney Treasure).

Like all DCL ships, the Disney Wish vessel (IMO 9834739) is currently Bahamas- flagged (MMSI 311001098) and registered in Nassau .

History - construction and ownership

DCL-Disney Cruise Line is a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company (shipowner). The company was incorporated in 1996 as "Magical Cruise Company Ltd". Walt Disney also owns the Bahamian private island Castaway Cay (exclusive port of call - for Disney ships only), an exclusive Cruise Terminal at Port Canaveral (Orlando) Florida USA  and the exclusive Lighthouse Point (privately-developed cruise resort complex on Eleuthera Island, Bahamas). Disney cruises are marketed as "family vacations" and feature unique and exclusive activities, such as costumed Disney Characters, adults-only deck areas, dedicated facilities for teens, kids and infants-toddlers, signature (trademarked) shipboard facilities and activities, themed live entertainment.

MS Disney Triton cruise ship

In early-March 2016, Walt Disney announced plans to build three new liners (the company's largest) and in July 2017 signed a 3-unit shipbuilding agreement with Meyer Werft Gmbh (Germany). Triton-Class vessel's interior design, facilities and cruise itineraries are still a well-protected secret. What is known so far is that they will be LNG-powered (by liquefied natural gas), gross tonnage 144,000 GT tons (larger than the originally announced 135,000 GT) and passenger capacity 2500 (1250 staterooms). This design is only slightly larger than the previous Disney Dream-Class.

The 3500-passenger ship Disney Wish is no exception with its primary market being families with small children (especially with kids younger than 8) - the major revenue provider for The Walt Disney Company. The vessel features some of the most innovative technologies and "best fun" ideas at sea, including:

  • pieces of "Enchanted Art" adorning the walls of hallways - paintings and pictures that are actually framed LCD screens with a technology to recognize guests present and proceeding with one of several animations;
  • wave phones in every stateroom (used to call or text other guests) and effectively replacing the old onboard beeper system (now the counselors' messages come directly to the parents' phones);
  • the Magical Portholes on the walls of all Inside cabins (LED screens showing real-time outside views).

The company's clientele consists almost entirely of North American travelers (USA and Canada). Disney's new approach to teens and young couples features age-related activities and limited access to shipboard venues, adding a really strong appeal for multi-generational cruisers.

Ship's dress code is similar to Disney's luxury resorts - daily casual and evening resort casual - men with jackets (no ties) and pants, women - with summer dresses (optional gowns). All Disney Triton-Class ship cruise itineraries include one "pirate night" and one semi-formal night. On 3-day cruises, one night is casual, 4-days are with 2 casual evenings, on 5-days and longer - 3 nights are casual.

DCL's shipboard gratuities are now USD 14.50 per person per day (US$15.50 per Suite guest daily). Tips are generally given to waiting staff (including assistant waiters) and cabin attendants/stewards. Additionally, a 15% gratuity on all beverages is automatically charged to the passenger's shipboard account.

Decks and Cabins

MS Disney Wish staterooms (1238 total, in 26 grades) are mainly midship-located Balconies. All cabins and suites are well planned and equipped with the travel industry's latest amenities. Like on all Disney ships, passenger staterooms by sizes are ranked among the industry's largest standard cabins, designed to easily accommodate four people. Cabins are with ample storage space, lounge/living area and split bathrooms (1 room with shower-bathtub-sink-WC, and separate toilet-sink). Beds on are raised to allow underbed storage for 2 medium-sized suitcases. Each cabin has as standard amenities 2 mirrored vanities with chairs, 22-inch smart HDTV (satellite reception, infotainment system), iPod docking station, 2 rechargeable "Wave Phones" (for shipwide use).

The boat has 15 passenger-accessible decks , of which 10 are with cabins. There are a total of 35x wheelchair-accessible cabins for passengers with disabilities or reduced mobility.

DCL's innovative Inside Cabin features (industry's first) "Magical Portholes" - large, round-shaped LCD screens (positioned above the beds) projecting real-time outside views provided by the ship's cameras. Veranda Cabin's balcony is fitted with 2 deckchairs and a low table.

Concierge Suites and Concierge Family Cabins offer direct access to the ship's concierge-served facilities (1 small lounge, private sundeck area with chairs, free food and drinks). Most 1-Bedroom Suites are with connecting doors, Queen bed (convertible to twins), sitting/lounge area with double sofabed, 1 pull-down bed (in the living room), walk-in closet, 2 bathrooms (one with a whirlpool hot-tub).

One of the largest accommodations are the Royal Suites, featuring a separate living room, wet bar, kitchenette (small cooking/dining area), media library, outdoor/balcony Jacuzzi.

The "Wish Tower Suite" is the DCL's (and the industry's) first-of-its-kind loft suite located in the ship's forward funnel (smokestack).

The unique accommodation is sized 1965 ft2 (183 m2), with max capacity 8 passengers, and interior design themed on Walt Disney's 3D animation film "Moana" (2016). The Wish Tower Suite features 2x master bedrooms, 4x full bathrooms, half-bath (powder room), library (converting to a bedroom), kids' room (with built-in bunkbeds). The living room (on the lower level) is flanked by an open dining area, a pantry, and a bar, all offering unique views across the ship's upper decks through a 2-story window wall.

Shipboard dining options - Food and Drinks

The Wish ship has 3x themed MDRs (main restaurants) called "Animator's Palate", "Enchanted Garden", and "Royal Palace". There are 2x adults-only specialty restaurants - "Remy" (named after the "Ratatouille" movie star, French cuisine) and "Palo" (Italian cuisine) as alternative dining options. The line's Rotational Dining system allows you to rotate to each of the three main restaurants each night while your servers follow you. The Animator's Palate has screens showing animated Disney characters and themes from "Finding Nemo" movie. The Enchanted Garden is a Versailles-inspired room, featuring lighting effects, transforming the day into night. The Royal Palace is princesses-themed with numerous portraits of "Cinderella" and the "Sleeping Beauty" movie characters (even the bread baskets are shaped like Cinderella's coach). The food quality is very good, the service staff is amicable and timely.

The Remy restaurant is a classy place to be on any special occasion, offering a marvelous French menu and charging serious prices - a service fee of $75 PP (reservations are required, along with the formal dress code), drinks and wine are additional. The Palo restaurant is an Italian (Mediterranean) eatery with US$20 cover PP (serves dinner and on selected days - Champagne brunch). Superb fish and seafood entrees, a cold buffet (meats, cheese, shrimp, salads and desserts) and several hot made-to-order items. The "Cabanas" casual dining complex on Deck 11 has several food and drink stations for hot and cold buffet items (including made-to-order omelets and sandwiches). The "Flo's Cafe" offers burgers, chicken fingers, wraps, pizza, salads.

In late-December 2020, DCL released a teaser video that revealed that the Disney character Cinderella will be the lobby statue positioned in the Atrium's lower/base level. The midship-located Grand Hall Atrium is a 3-deck high entertainment area with an open-floor design and a grand staircase. At the liner's stern (aft hull section) is painted the Disney character Rapunzel.

Disney's 35-minute youtube video production released on April 29, 2021, revealed the following signature features of DCL Disney Wish.

  • onboard appearances by Disney characters (Olaf, Captain Minnie, Captain Mickey, a fairy godmother)
  • The 760-ft (232-m) long waterslide (Slide-a-Saurus Rex) has show scenes, special lighting and sound effects. In comparison to Fantasy-Dream, Wish has more swimming pools (7 total) and outdoor deck spaces, plus AquaMouse (pool district/water playground for families).
  • The Oceaneer Club (a dedicated venue with supervised activities for children 3- to 12-years-old) is currently not available on other Disney ships. Other kids clubs include Marvel Super Hero Academy (Spider-Man, Ant-Man, The Wasp, Black Panther, kids can make their own-design superhero costumes), Fairytale Hall (Rapunzel Art Studio, Belle Library, Anna and Elsa’s Summerhus), Imagineering Lab (VR experience/kids can design and virtually ride their own roller coasters - based on designs like Tomorrowland's Space Mountain Roller Coaster, Anaheim Disneyland's Matterhorn Bobsleds roller coasters, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad/mine-train roller coaster), Small World Nursery (for toddlers 6-months to 3-years-old, with babysitting), Hero Zone (indoor playground/sports arena), Olaf’s Royal Picnic (character interactions, live music performances).
  • For teenagers (11 to 17-yo) are designed exclusive hangouts with supervised programs. Children 11 to 14-yo have a separate hangout.
  • On the deck above the Navigation Bridge/Wheelhouse are positioned staterooms. Some of the Suites are 2-level accommodations (fleet's first duplex apartments with connecting spiral staircases).

New for DCL dining venues include Palo Steakhouse (115-seats, also serving traditional Italian cuisine/Cogsworth-themed), Enchante Restaurant (by Michelin chef Arnaud Lallement/Lumiere-themed, capacity 45 seats, a-la-carte-priced menu, 6-course & 9-course dinners), The Rose Restaurant & Bar Lounge ("Beauty and the Beast" movie-themed).

Quiet Cove Pool District is an adults-only Sundeck with a swimming pool (infinity pool), Jacuzzis, Pool Bar, Pool Cafe.

The boat has two 3D Cinemas (named Wonderland Cinema, Never Land Cinema). These are screening rooms (with capacity 84 seats and 86 seats) for films produced by Walt Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm.

Luna Square is a midship-located space with family-style entertainment during the day, and in the evenings transforming into an adults-only venue. Luna Lounge features a 2-deck LED screen, Bar (Luna Libations), stage (for interactive and live shows, like “Villains Game Night”, “Disney Songbook”, “Disney Uncharted Adventure”.

Star Wars superheroes entertain adults at the new Star Wars movie-themed " Hyperspace Lounge ”. The venue became "hyper-famous" for offering one of the world's most expensive cocktails - the Kaliburr Crystal, priced at USD 5000. The new drink is encased inside a camtono (a security container for storing valuables in The Mandalorian/The Book of Boba Fett) which opens with a button touch and a twist of a rotary cylindric handle. The carrier's side panels then fall open granting access to the "content" - three shot-style glasses full of the expensive concoction. While the ingredients are not listed, there are some speculations that one of them is Remy Martin's Louis XIII cognac (US$3000-4000 a bottle) or other top-shelf liquor.

  • Regular-priced beverages at the Hyperspace Lounge are priced from US$15.
  • With the purchase of any cocktail, guests can take home as a souvenir the Hyperspace Lounge Glass for an additional US$12.

Disney ship Wish has 3 new/fleet's first family restaurants with table-service: "Arendelle" (with a Frozen Dining Experience/live shows featuring Disney Frozen 2 film's characters Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Sven, Olaf), "1923" (the year Walt Disney Studios opened/with menus featuring California food specialties), and "Worlds of Marvel" (superheroes and multimedia dining experience).

Also new for the DCL fleet are the "quick food" bars "Marceline Market" and "Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods". Both are complimentary and open throughout the day.

  • "Marceline Market" is a food marketplace with a changing menu (and daily specials), both indoor-outdoor seating. All dishes are freshly prepared and include American and international classics, seafood, comfort foods, baked goods, soups, salads, vegetarian and vegan fare, desserts. Marceline Market is casual, with buffet-style dining (for breakfast and lunch) and table-served diners (with cooked-to-order entrees).
  • "Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods" is a family restaurant (for quick bites) open throughout the day, including for lunch and dinner. This is an outdoor (seaside boardwalk-style) eatery with shaded seating and all 5x themed food stations - Mickey’s Smokestack Barbecue (fleet's first BBQ bar), Donald’s Cantina (fleet's first Mexican food bar), Daisy’s Pizza Pies, Goofy’s Grill, Sweet Minnie’s Ice Cream (also offering soft ice cream).

On Disney Wish (at Worlds of Marvel Restaurant/deck 4) debuts DCL's "Avengers: Quantum Encounter”. The new cinematic experience combines dining (Marvel Cinematic Universe-themed menu) with superheroes (Ant-Man and The Wasp on an action-packed mission), storytelling (with guests playing interactive roles) and technology (Quantum Core is a new device that causes objects to change size/shrink and grow remotely). Worlds of Marvel Restaurant's dishes are inspired by Marvel Studios' fictional countries Wakanda and Sokovia, as well as Avengers Compound (NYC base).

Shipboard entertainment options - Fun and Sport

The ship's kids clubs are the main reason for Disney's high loyalty passengers ratio. Besides all the Disney characters, innovative technologies and fun attractions, Disney children counselors are a pretty big reason many families to repeat their bookings with the company. Always smiling and friendly, they are hugely experienced, all college-educated, attentive and downright. The Oceaneer's "Club" and "Lab" facilities (ages 3-10) are connected, thus doubling the fun space. The "Oceaneer's Club" features the "Andy's Room" (with oversized Disney characters for kids to climb on) and the "Laugh Floor" (with its "laugh-o-meter" and Mike and Sully of "Monsters Inc"). The "Oceaneer's Lab" is maritime-themed, featuring an Animator's Studio and a small Sound Studio. The new Disney approach allows all kids ages 3-10 to access the same clubs with separate rooms and age-related activities.

Cruise liner's children club is called "Edge" (ages 11-13) properly secluded on Deck 13 in the funnel. The best attractions here are the 18 ft (5,5 m) high LCD wall, the video karaoke, numerous interconnected PCs. The teen-only "Vibe" club (ages 14-17) is sized 9000 ft2 (836 m2), fitted with a fountain bar and its own sundeck and swimming pools.

MS Disney Triton cruise ship

Public spaces are decorated in deep blue and red, with numerous "Mickeys" just about everywhere (cabin, artwork, dinnerware, railings). One of the ship's most memorable places is the 3-deck high Atrium Lobby with its golden hue, the wide royalty-style winding staircase, and the Donald Duck bronze statue. The Grand Hall Atrium is a hub area connecting restaurants, theaters, and shops. You may check emails in the Internet cafe, but there's also Wi-Fi coverage throughout the ship.

Like all Disney liners, Wish has no Casino (gambling lounge).

Onboard fun activities

All stage shows feature intricate sets and Disney themed captivating performances, and the big place for grand entertainment is the Disney Theater with goldies like the "Golden Mickeys" and "Villains Tonight", new amazing stage productions, like the "Disney's Believe" (directed by Gordon Greenberg) and all the best Disney movies in 3D. Walt Disney characters onboard have always been the greatest sensation of all, and there are countless opportunities to meet and greet Mickey and company around the ship - in contrast to Disneyland, here they all are accessible and will always stop for a hug and a photo with you. Another big success is the "Pirates in the Caribbean" kids party divided into two programs - the sing-along "Mickey's Pirates in the Caribbean" followed by the "Club Pirate" (with many special effects) and great Disney fireworks (between the shows).

Wellness (SPA and FITNESS), swimming pools, waterslides, technology

The wellness complex "Senses" (Spa & Beauty) offers all the usual treatments (haircuts, manicures) and more exotic choices (hot-stone massages, mud baths).

  • Senses Spa features an outdoor relaxation space/sundeck (with Jacuzzis, padded sun loungers and deckchairs) where can also be held open-air Yoga sessions.
  • Senses Spa's "The Rainforest" (ice lounge) offers thermal therapies and is fitted with heated loungers, sensory showers.
  • The wellness complex also has Treatment Rooms (for massages), Sauna Room, Steam Room, Dry Room, Spa Villas (for couples).
  • Senses Fitness Center consists of a large main room (with premium gym equipment) and separate Cycle Studio and Aerobics Studio (where at an additional fee are offered Yoga and Pilates classes).

Untangled Salon (Beauty Parlor) and Hook’s Barbery (Barber Shop/Men’s Salon) are DCL fleet's first venues dedicated to hair- and beauty services for adults.

  • Untangled Salon (themed on Princess Rapunzel from Disney's movie "Tangled", 2010) is colored in purple and gold and offers haircuts and styling, manicures, pedicures, teeth whitening, skin treatments.
  • Hook’s Barbery (themed on Captain Hook/from Disney's movie "Peter Pan", 1953) is decorated in dark woods, furnished with leather chairs and golden mirrors, and offers haircuts, shaves, skincare and nail services. Part of the Barbery is a hidden bar serving premium liquors (bourbons, vintage whiskies, aged rums).

The Sports Deck has a small sports court, a mini-golf course, Ping-Pong tables, a walking/jogging track.

The "Chill" is a teen-only Spa within the facility.

Disney cruise water park slide Aquaduck

The pool deck has a large area for family fun water activities, featuring 2 whirlpools/hot tubs and 2 kids pools - "Donald's" (5 ft deep) and "Mickey's" (with a spiral slide). A big attraction here is the big LED screen mounted on the funnel. There's a toddler splash area (Nemo-themed) located in the center on Deck 11 with huge glass panes for parents to monitor their kids.

The Slide-a-Saurus Rex waterslide (water-coaster at sea) is located atop the ship and features a 765 ft (233 m) long 4-decks high transparent tube. The spinning tube reaches an incredible height of 150 ft (46 m) above sea level (there's a 42-inch / 107 cm height requirement). "Toy Story Splash Zone" is the kids' aquapark where the waterslide ends. The adults-only "Quiet Cove" pool area is a great place to hide from all the little angels and devils around the ship.

Midship on decks 11-12 there is a Mickey-themed family district with a total of 6x pools (various sized and with different depths) surrounded by spacious sundecks with plenty of sun loungers.

Triton-class new Disney cruise ships (pool deck)

"Disney Uncharted Adventure" is another fleet-first - an interactive family experience that combines imagination and VR technology into a multidimensional sea voyage full of Disney-Pixar characters. The new gaming experience is offered via guests' mobile devices. Via the app "Play Disney Parks", the phones/tablets transform into magical spyglasses allowing them to sail uncharted worlds, unlock missions, solve puzzles, conquer other "virtual cruisers".

  • The "virtual ship" is mastered by Captain Minnie Mouse assisted by Captain Mickey.
  • Players choose the ship's course, with VR options like Motunui Island (from the Moana movie), Neverland Island (Peter Pan movie), New Orleans (from "The Princess and the Frog" movie), Sydney NSW (from Finding Nemo) and others.
  • "Disney Uncharted Adventure" gaming includes signature characters like Moana, Tiana, Tinker Bell, Kakamora, Peter Pan, Captain Cook, Nemo & friends.
  • You must download the app prior to the cruise.
  • Each player can choose to complete all or just a few adventures/missions and is allowed to start and stop at any time.

AquaMouse is a family fun water attraction and another DCL fleet-first.

  • AquaMouse waterslide has length 760 ft (232 m) of winding tubes suspended above upper decks. The experience is complete with video scenes, special lighting and sound effects, "splashtacular surprises" (60+ water effects).
  • The water ride starts with boarding 2-seater vehicles and ascending into a "magical tunnel" teleporting into the virtual worlds of “Scuba Scramble” and "Swiss Meltdown" (two short animation movies played out through the tube's large virtual windows/LED screens). Along the way are encountered curious sea creatures and popular Disney characters.
  • At the height of the "show", passengers are blasted out of the tunnel to start watersliding around the upper ship decks - first around the forward funnel (through an enclosed tube/lighting effects), then through a dark tunnel followed by a transparent tube revealing breathtaking ocean views. Follow a series of speed blasters up and down ending with a loop over the ship's edge and into the Mermaid Lagoon (swimming pool).
  • Both AquaMouse animated shorts (Scuba Scramble, Swiss Meltdown) are starred by Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse. "Scuba Scramble" is an underwater adventure (at Mermaid Lagoon), while "Swiss Meltdown" is a mountain sledding excursion going awry. The two chipmunks Chip and Dale are in both shows, hitchhiking to Castaway Cay (DCL's Bahamian island) .

Follows the complete list of DCL Disney Wish lounges, clubs and other entertainment venues for kids, teens, and adults.

  • Walt Disney Theatre (1274-seats, Magical Forest-themed entertainment lounge) is fitted with a Dolby Atmos (3D sound system) and offers live shows, aerial acrobatics performances, 3x grand-style productions (in the evenings), bingo, trivia games and 3D movies (during the day). Disney Wish Wiki

On July 15, 2017, DCL-Disney Cruise Line officially announced the company's plans to build 3 new vessels in Germany, at Meyer Werft 's Papenburg Shipyard . The so exciting for all Mickey Mouse fans announcement was made by Bob Chapek (Walt Disney Parks and Resorts company's Chairman).

MS Disney Wish's construction officially started on April 8, 2021, with the keel-laying ceremony (Meyer Werft yard/hull number 705) held at Shipyard Papenburg, being the 54th cruise vessel constructed there. During the special event, the first hull block was lowered into the building dock, and, for good luck, under the keel was placed a newly minted coin that features the Disney character Captain Minnie. The coin was placed by Philip Matthew Gennotte - Executive Manager of the subsidiary Walt Disney Imagineering (Germany) GmbH. DCL also announced that Captain Minnie will be part of the ship's hull artwork (at the bow).

Disney Cruise Line newest ships (Triton-class)

Disney Wish was launched/floated out from drydock (at Meyer Werft Papenburg) on February 11, 2022.

At ~8 am local time (~6 am UTC) on March 30, 2022, started the ship's 10-hour (32-km / 20-mi long) conveyance voyage on Ems River from Papenburg towards Emden . The voyage started with the Papenburg yard's dock lock passage, and around noon passed the Friesen Bridge (near Weener). During the night, the ship arrived at Ems Barrage (a storm surge barrier near Gandersum), then headed for Eemshaven (Netherlands) where remained docked for final outfitting. Curiously, the ship navigated/moved backward, being assisted by tugboats. Next is listed the conveyance voyage's schedule (local time):

  • March 30 (~12:15 pm) Friesen-Brucke/Bridge passage (near Weener)
  • March 30 (~3:30 pm) Jann-Berghaus-Brucke/Bridge passage (near Leer )
  • March 31 (~12:30 am) Ems Barrage passage (near Gandersum)
  • March 31 (~2:30 am) arriving at Port Emden

On January 22, 2019, Port Canaveral officials gathered to discuss the new liners' docking at DCL's exclusive Cruise Terminal 8. The facility was improved and upgraded in order to accommodate/berth the 3 new boats simultaneously. With scheduled deliveries in 2022 (Wish), 2024 ( Treasure ) and 2025 (TBN), the newbuilds are designed with ~1250 staterooms each. To handle them, Orlando Port Canaveral's Disney Terminal 8 was upgraded to passenger capacity 7500 tourists at a time.

DCL's TRITON liners have LOA length 341 m (1119 ft), making them the fleet's longest. By GT tonnage/volume (~144,000 tons each) and passenger capacity (2500 / max 3500), the newbuilds are similarly sized as the sisterships Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy , but LNG-powered (by liquefied natural gas) and with more and new facilities and amenities. In 2025, Walt Disney will nearly double its old 4-ship fleet (Dream, Fantasy, Magic, Wonder).

At the released on March 9, 2018, the new ship's exterior rendering was shown the company's traditional black-white-red hull color scheme. New in the design is the superstructure's golden flair. Between the two funnels is located top-deck's waterpark with slides. Balcony cabins are positioned midship, which allows larger staterooms.

'"Disney Triton" was chosen as the name of Walt Disney's new vessel class/series. Triton is Ancient Greece's god of the sea. Being the son of Poseidon (the god of the waters) and Amphitrite (the goddess of the Sea), Triton is the herald for his father and usually represented as a Merman (male mermaid) having an upper human body and tail and fins of a fish. Like his father, Triton carries a trident, but his special attribute is a twisted conch shell with which he calms or raises the waves. According to the Disney story, King Triton is the protective and loving father of "The Little Mermaid" Ariel, as well as one of the most powerful Disney characters ever created.

Disney Wish was officially delivered by Meyer Werft to DCL on June 9, 2022, in Port Bremerhaven . The ceremony was attended by Thomas Mazloum (DCL's President), Jan Meyer (Meyer Werft GmbH's Managing Director), Henning Stellermann (Meyer Werft's Project Manager).

Following the delivery to DCL, Disney Wish left Bremerhaven (on June 9th, at 17:29 UTC) and via Ponta Delgada/Sao Miguel Island Azores Portugal (bunkering stop on June 13th, between 12:11-21:56 UTC) made the Transatlantic crossing from Europe to the USA, arriving at Port Canaveral on June 20th, at 9:08 UTC.

In 2019 was announced that during their inaugural seasons in the Caribbean, two of Disney's newest ships (Wish and Treasure) will be homeported in Port Canaveral - the principal seaport for Orlando City (Walt Disney's theme park capital). The 3rd newbuild (Disney 2025) will be based in PortMiami . In Miami and Port Canaveral, DCL's newest liners are fueled by LNG bunkering barges docking alongside the berthed vessel.

In late-April 2021, DCL released the first video of the "Designing the Disney Wish" series themed on the ship's design, Disney characters and special features. The hull design features Captain Minnie Mouse (bow character) and the sculpture of Rapunzel (aft/at the stern). The liner's interior is designed using three classic Disney themes - fairytale castles (including for the Atrium's Grand Hall), forests and animals, and the spirit of the sea. The 3-deck high Atrium (midship-located, open-floor area) features a grand staircase, the bronze sculpture of Cinderella (at the Lobby level), and a large chandelier with thousands of crystals and a huge "wishing star" at its bottom.

Ship christening 2022

In June 2022 DCL announced that instead of a godmother/godfather/godparents the Wish ship will have godchildren - from the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Make-A-Wish is a 1980-founded children's charity (Phoenix, Arizona USA-headquartered American non-profit organization) created to fulfill the wishes of children with critical illnesses (website wish.org).

DCL's announcement included that during the ship's naming ceremony, the Make-A-Wish children will recite the traditional blessings for the vessel. The Disney-Make-A-Wish partnership also includes creating and selling fleetwide Disney-themed merchandise, with 10% of the profits donated to the Foundation.

The christening ceremony was held on June 30th (pierside at Port Canaveral Terminal) and attended by Bob Chapek (The Walt Disney Company's CEO) and Josh D'Amaro (Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products). Anika Noni Rose (voice actor for the character Tiana in "The Princess and the Frog"/2009 animated musical film) performed live singing along with characters from the movies Toy Story, Frozen, Marvel, Star Wars.

Near the end of the naming ceremony, three godchildren/Make-A-Wish children recited the traditional ship blessing.

Inaugural itineraries 2022

Upcoming itineraries

The map for this itinerary is not available at this time.

I just got off the Disney Wish. I was prepared not to like Disney's newest cruise ship, but I loved our $5,300 3-night trip.

  •  My family of four did a three-night sailing on the Disney Wish in July for $5,300.
  • We've been on eight Disney cruises , and I heard a few negative reviews of the Wish before boarding.
  • But I loved the new ship, especially the themed adult lounges and fun new deck layout.

Insider Today

My family of four recently did a three-night sailing from Port Canaveral, Florida, to the Bahamas on Disney's newest cruise ship, the Wish .

We've been on eight Disney Cruises as a family, and I follow several cruise blogs and podcasts, so I consider myself an expert-level Disney cruiser . Before this trip, I'd read and heard enough Wish reviews to give me the impression I wouldn't like the new ship.

Our decision to sail on the Wish was last-minute. We booked a $5,300 voyage and boarded the ship with no reservations or excursions and no plans other than to explore.

Luckily, I ended up being wrong about pretty much everything I thought I'd dislike about the ship.

I was super impressed by the new Grand Hall on the Wish.

disney wish three day cruise

Disney's first ship, the Magic , set sail back in 1998, so embarking on the Wish, which had its maiden voyage in July 2022, was quite the upgrade. Passengers are immersed in everything new and dazzling on the Wish as soon as they enter the Grand Hall.

The other Disney ships have a central atrium where guests embark and are welcomed aboard. But the Wish's Grand Hall is open and airy — more of a multipurpose space with a stage and balcony.

The only criticism I had was that the welcome-aboard announcement from the crew could've been better. Whereas the other ships had a gauntlet of crew members clapping and cheering, there was only one crew member on the Wish's welcoming committee and little fanfare.

You won't miss this if you've never sailed with Disney before . But if you have, you'll probably notice a difference.

Our room also felt shiny and new.

disney wish three day cruise

We booked an ocean-view stateroom with a veranda for our cruise on the Wish.

There were upgraded touches in the stateroom , such as a larger TV screen and robes, compared to the older ships.

The Wish doesn't have any midship elevators, but it didn't end up being an issue for us.

disney wish three day cruise

All the other Disney ships have three elevator spots, forward (front of ship), aft (back of ship), and midship (middle of ship). Despite being Disney's largest ship, the Wish has no midship elevators.

I thought this might be inconvenient, but there are 16 elevators total, eight aft and eight forward, so the lack of midship elevators didn't actually bother me. We were OK with the extra walking as we take the stairs as often as possible anyway.

What was annoying was the sensor-button panel on the elevators. If someone got too close to the buttons, the elevator would select them, causing most elevators we rode to stop at every floor. It was like having that kid who pushes all the buttons on your elevator every trip.

We're really familiar with the layout of the other Disney ships, so this took some getting used to.

disney wish three day cruise

The Disney Wish is the fleet's first Triton Class ship, meaning it has a different layout from Disney's previous ships in the Magic and Dream classes. After three sailings on the Wonder, two on the Magic, and two on the Dream, we had those deck plans down pat.

Because of this, I had to spend time discovering where things were located instead of immediately knowing my way around. But it actually ended up being part of the fun and not a negative experience.

I'd heard complaints of a lack of adult-only entertainment, but that wasn't my experience.

disney wish three day cruise

All the other Disney ships have a bar-and-lounge district that's off-limits to anyone under 18 after 7 p.m.

On the Wish, the highly themed Nightingale's, Bayou, Rose, and Star Wars Hyperspace lounges were dotted throughout the ship versus being in an adult-only section. But the fact that kids were passing through didn't bother me.

Plus, there was still the adult-only pool deck and two adult-only dining venues if you wanted to escape.

The dining rooms may have been a little more crowded, but it didn't really bother us.

disney wish three day cruise

The three main dining rooms on the Wish are Arendelle, Worlds of Marvel, and 1923.

Before our trip, I'd heard fellow travelers complaining of big crowds, with the tables placed uncomfortably close together. Our sailing was near capacity, and the dining rooms were indeed crowded, but that's typical of all other Disney cruises we've been on.

The tables felt closer together than they've been on other ships, but it wasn't uncomfortable and didn't hamper our dining experience .

We loved the food at the new restaurants , especially the filet at 1923, but we'd probably skip Worlds of Marvel next time. The digital show is such a huge part of dinner, and although it was cute, I wouldn't want to sit through it again.

There were fun added amenities and entertainment options on the ship.

disney wish three day cruise

The Pirate's Rockin' Parlay Party on the deck was a great entertainment addition, and the infinity pool in the Quiet Cove area was pretty sweet, even if it was always full of people.

The kid's clubs , especially the Oceaneer Club for kids 3 through 12, were next-level fantastic. I thought the teen and tween clubs were elevated, too, but my 13-year-olds said they liked one on the Magic better.

My family loved our trip on the Wish, and we'd definitely sail on it again.

disney wish three day cruise

The Wish isn't my top Disney Cruise Line pick — that's always going to be the Wonder — but I loved the ship and would book again if the itinerary and rates lined up with our travel needs .

If you're hesitant to book because of a negative review you saw online, I say go for it and try it for yourself.

All Aboard! 4 Days 3 Nights on the Disney Wish – Disney Cruise Line Review

A lot of people have been asking, “How was the Disney Cruise?!”

I told them I’d write a blog post about it soon. There’s a lot to cover, and there’s a lot I won’t cover because we just didn’t have time to do it all!

Those who read my blog know I try to be very transparent, especially with finances. I’ll try to give you an idea of how much everything costs in case you decide to sail with Disney Cruise Line.

Which ship did you sail on?

We were on the Disney Wish for 3 nights and 4 days . The Disney Wish had its maiden voyage in the summer of 2022. It’s currently Disney’s newest ship.

This was our itinerary for our cruise:

We actually didn’t disembark at Nassau to make the most of our time on the ship. We got off the ship at Castaway Cay (pronounced “key”).

disney wish three day cruise

What is Castaway Cay?

Castaway Cay is Disney’s private island in the Bahamas. It has an interesting history. Before Disney bought the island, the island was used as a base of operations by Pablo Escobar (of cartel and Narcos [Netflix] fame). If you run the Castaway Cay 5k, you actually run on the airstrip.

This island is worth getting off at (as opposed to staying on the ship). It’s basically a really long beach, and there are plenty of beach chairs. The water is clear, and occasionally, we saw schools of fish swimming around our legs.

For those who want to be more active, there are other paid activities you can do (e.g. stingray encounter, snorkeling, biking, etc.). You can also run the Castaway Cay 5k (for free). The 5k is no longer organized, so you just start and finish at the 5k sign when you want and pick up your medal at the finish. I ran it with my friend Eric, but we didn’t know we were supposed to run the loop twice, so we were about a mile short.

disney wish three day cruise

How much did it cost?

For 2 adults and 2 children (7yo and 4yo), the cruise itself was $2,974.76. To be clear, we got an inside stateroom (no window) , but the room was still really nice. We decided to book with a travel agent ( Michelle Shumate of Fairy Godmother Travel ), and the experience was awesome. She provided us with a lot of information and was responsive to all of our questions, so we felt totally prepared. She provided us with an onboard credit as well. I would highly recommend her if you are booking a trip to Disney / Disney Cruise. It doesn’t cost you anything extra, and you always have an expert to answer all your questions and email you about important things. ( UPDATE: I joined Fairy Godmother Travel because of my positive experience using Michelle as a travel agent (3 times). I can now help you book travel too! )

We paid a $500 deposit upfront and paid the remaining balance a little before the trip.

The room, food, room service, and entertainment is included in the price. Gratuities were an additional $174 ($14.50 per person per day). They give you a sheet with perforated slips for the head server ($15), server ($57), assistant server ($45), and stateroom host ($57) with the preset amounts. You can always tip more if you want. They provide envelopes for each person, and you put the slip into the envelope and give it to each person on the last night.

Alcoholic beverages, special drinks, photography, excursions, internet, and special activities are not included.

I think we ended up spending about $700-$800 on extras. I paid $24 twice for two 24-hour periods of internet (for work). We paid ~$200 for our daughter to do the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. We paid ~$230 for unlimited access to all the photos Disney took for us. $174 was for the gratuities.

We also put a $250 refundable deposit on our next Disney Cruise. If you put a deposit down while on the cruise, you get 10% off your next cruise if you sail within 24 months. If you don’t book, the deposit is refundable.

All in all, I think we spent a little under $4,000 on things related to the cruise for our family of 4.

How was the food?

Overall, the food was excellent. Generally, we did breakfast and lunch on our own time, but we attended the scheduled dinners at the themed restaurants: Marvel, Arendelle, and 1923. We often ate on the 11th deck at Marceline Market, which is an expansive buffet.

The servers at dinner were excellent. On the last night, I wasn’t feeling great so I stayed in my room. The server walked all the way over to my room and delivered the food to me. Room service is free anyway, but this was our dinner server.

I learned from a friend that you can order any entree from any restaurant, even if it’s not on the menu. I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass from Arendelle a couple times. You can also order as many entrees, desserts, and appetizers as you want. It’s all included!

There are two seatings for dinner every night. We had the earlier 5:45 seating. You can show up later than 5:45 if you want, but I would try to get there before 6:30 so they have time to set up for the later seating.

Dinner was quite the experience at Marvel and Arendelle. At Marvel, it’s an interactive experience. At Arendelle, there’s live entertainment in the middle of the dining room, and some of the characters walk around and greet you during dinner.

I didn’t take many food pics, but it was good!

How was the service?

The service was excellent. Our stateroom host cleaned our room every day, opened and closed the sofa bed and ceiling bed, cleaned our bathroom, and gave us new towels.

We did room service a couple times, and they were always pretty fast. The dinner servers were very attentive and put in a lot of effort.

Overall, we experienced the level of service you would expect from Disney.

How was the entertainment?

Each night, there were two shows. If you had the early dinner, you can go to the later show (I think it was at 8:30). If you had the later dinner, you could go to the earlier show.

The shows were top notch Broadway-style shows. The first night was Disney Seas the Adventure, the second night was The Little Mermaid, and the last night was Aladdin. For me, these shows were one of the highlights of the trip. I would not miss these. I don’t have any photos or videos of the shows because any sort of recording is not allowed.

What do the kids do?

On Disney cruises, there is the Disney Oceaneer Club , which is basically a kids club (no adults allowed). They give the kids a wristband to check in and check out. You can drop off your kids and pick them up as late as midnight. The area is huge, and there are plenty of different rooms for the kids to explore and play. There are lots of Disney staff entertaining and playing with the kids.

We didn’t get to drop them off as often as they liked because there were just so many things to do.

The day we were docked at Nassau, the kids played in the pools on the main deck. We also got to try out the Aqua Mouse , which is a giant water slide that soars above the periphery of the ship.

How is luggage handled?

For the boarding process, Disney will have already mailed you luggage tags. When you arrive at the port (Cruise Terminal #8 for Disney at Port Canaveral), a porter will help you with the bags. You leave it with the porter on the sidewalk there, and they will magically appear in front of your stateroom door sometime before 4pm.

For the disembarking process, you will need to have your bags packed by 10:30pm the night before . You leave the bags with a different tag (provided in your stateroom) outside your stateroom. You can keep small bags or any bags you need with you.

How are the rooms?

We had an inside stateroom. It wasn’t huge, but it was well-designed, especially the bathroom. There was a small combination tub/shower in the bathroom. The handle for the shower had two knobs, one to control the temperature and one to control the water pressure. The glass shower door opened inside and out. There were two levels of light in the bathroom (night and regular) so you don’t disturb others if you have to get up in the middle of the night. There is a queen bed, a sofa bed, and a pull-down bed that your host packs and unpacks for you every day while you’re out. There’s a TV in each room with Disney movies and shows. There’s space to put your clothes and space under the bed to leave your luggage. There’s a safe to keep your valuables in.

Some of our friends with bigger families had adjoining rooms. The larger rooms also have a split bathroom, so one person can shower while another person uses the toilet.

disney wish three day cruise

I didn’t know, but it’s a thing to put your names on the doors with magnets. My wife made ours, but everyone has different styles or ways to do it.

disney wish three day cruise

Was it worth it?

Yes, to me, it was totally worth the experience and the memories for us and the kids. I think it will be something that the kids remember as a happy memory. I’ve also been on Royal Caribbean cruises, and they are nice too and a bit cheaper. I had a pleasant experience with both cruise lines. Since I have younger children, I think the Disney experience was worth paying the premium. The kids club is also a nice place to drop off your kids if you want some time without the kids.

Do you get to meet Disney characters?

Yes! There are many opportunities to meet many of the Disney characters and take pictures with them. They are all around the ship at different times, and some will also be part of your dinner entertainment.

I took more video than photos, so if you want to see more, check out my reels on Instagram @realtordannylee and give me a follow. I do wish I took some more photos, but I was trying to enjoy my time there and enjoy the food.

Disney Wish Restaurants Guide With Menus

We are back from a sailing on Disney Cruise Line's newest ship and have put together this Disney Wish Restaurants Guide with menus.

Disney Wish Restaurants Guide With Menus

Share this post:

One of the  best new cruise ships  for 2022 has just set sail! Disney Cruise Line’s 5th ship, Disney Wish, is now sailing the Bahamas. We are back from one of the  first revenue sailings on this ship  and have put together this Disney Wish Restaurants Guide with menus so you can see what is available at the different restaurants onboard. Even if you are a DCL aficionado, you will want to have a look as there are many firsts for the brand on this new cruise ship.

Complimentary Disney Wish Restaurants

There are several dining options that are  included in your cruise fare on Disney Wish . These include the main dining rooms, the Marceline Market buffet, and some other casual options. With so many great offerings, you certainly do not have to pay extra for dining (if you don’t want to). Though, this new ship also offers a few specialty restaurants that are worth a try.

EXCLUSIVE SAVINGS: Save Big on Disney Wish Cruises!

Disney’s Rotational Dining Concept

Following suit with the other four Disney Cruise Line ships , Disney Wish features the signature rotational dining concept. Guests can select their preference for either an early (5:45 pm) or a late dining time (8:15 pm) for the duration of their cruise. But, on cruise embarkation day , you can try changing to a different time if your preferred time was not available pre-cruise.

Disney Wish Restaurants Guide With Menus

Then, guests rotate between the three complimentary dining venues on Disney Wish. Your waitstaff and same table number also rotate along with you so you can get to know the cast members during your voyage. Staterooms are assigned a particular rotation so as to disperse the crowds amongst the three venues.

On 3-day Disney Wish sailings, this means you will get to enjoy each of the three new restaurants once. Or, on a 4-day sailing, you will dine at one of the restaurants twice. You can check the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app once onboard the ship to see your specific restaurant rotation.

1923 (Deck 3)

The first of these Disney Wish rotational restaurants is 1923. Named for the year The Walt Disney Company was founded, 1923 is a celebration of the company. The décor in this venue pays homage to the golden age of animation and its Californian heritage. It includes drawings, props, and other tools of the trade.

This restaurant has two smaller venues, Walt Disney and Roy Disney, located on the portside and starboard sides of the ship respectively. These venues are aptly named for the men behind the Disney magic.

Disney Wish Restaurants Guide With Menus

The menu at 1923 features an array of appetizers, soups, salads, and entrees. The menu also features a vegetarian and Lighter Notes section, as well as a separate allergy-friendly menu. The Lighter Notes section includes one signature salad for the venue and a classic steak, chicken, and salmon dish offered across the three dining rooms.

Don’t forget to save room for the signature bread service and desserts either.

Some of our favorite dishes at 1923 included the burrata and prosciutto, filet mignon, and apple cheesecake. Of the three dining venues, we enjoyed the food the most at 1923.

On our 3-day sailing, 1923 also served breakfast on day 2 and day 3, as well as lunch on day 2. Breakfast on disembarkation morning was at whichever venue you dined at the previous evening.

1923 Dinner Menu | Cocktail Menu | Dessert Menu | Kids Menu | Allergy-Friendly Menu | Breakfast Menu | Lunch Menu

Worlds of Marvel (Deck 4)

The second of the complimentary Disney Wish Restaurants is Worlds of Marvel. This restaurant is the first Marvel cinematic dining adventure, where guests play an interactive role in an Avengers mission. Further, every table features an interactive Quantum Core, a brand-new device that can cause objects to shrink and grow remotely.

During Avengers: Quantum Encounter, Ant-Man and The Wasp host a special presentation with the use of digital screens surrounding the venue. The characters might even make a special appearance to thank you for helping save the day when things go awry.

Disney Wish Bahamas Cruise Review

Of course, there is a menu that goes along with the show. The menu features selections from the real and fictional settings of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With the same format as 1923, guests can select from apps, salads, soups, entrees, and desserts.

Some of our favorite dishes from World of Marvel included the jumbo fried shrimp appetizer and the desserts. The entrees were just average.

disney wish three day cruise

Honestly, this was our least favorite of the dining experiences on Disney Wish.

World of Marvel also served lunch on embarkation day during our sailing.

World of Marvel Dinner Menu | Cocktail Menu | Dessert Menu | Kids Menu | Allergy-Friendly Menu | Lunch Menu

Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure (Deck 5)

The third of the Disney Wish main dining room restaurants is Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure. This theater in the round entertainment venue is Disney’s first Frozen-themed theatrical dining experience. This dinner show brings the kingdom of Arendelle to life to help celebrate the royal engagement of Queen Anna and Kristoff.

disney wish three day cruise

Picking up where Frozen 2 left off, guests are invited to their engagement party on Disney Wish. Hosted by Elsa and Olaf, this celebration is catered by none other than Oaken’s Hearty Party Planning Services.

Throughout the meal, guests are treated to live music, character appearances, and special effects.

The Arendelle menu features dishes inspired by Nordic cuisine. Some of our favorite items included the the ham and cheese tart and the apple cake. The Norwegian meatballs entrée and Norwegian pancake dessert were just okay.

disney wish three day cruise

This restaurants wins best overall dining experience for us, even if the food quality was better at 1923.

Arendelle Dinner Menu | Cocktail Menu | Dessert Menu | Kids Menu | Allergy-Friendly Menu

Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods (Deck 11)

Located in the center of all the action on the pool deck is the new Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods. These quick-service stations, styled after a seaside boardwalk, are the perfect spot to grab lunch, dinner, or a snack. This Festival of Foods is open most days from around 11 am until 6 pm with some stalls staying open later.

This open-air eatery features five themed food stalls: Mickey’s Smokestack Barbecue, Donald’s Cantina, Daisy’s Pizza Pies, Goofy’s Grill, and Sweet Minnie’s Ice Cream. Disney Wish is the first in the DCL fleet to offer dedicated quick-service venues for barbeque and Mexican-inspired fare.

disney wish three day cruise

The Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods includes a sizable seating area nearby for guests to enjoy their meals.

During a 3-day cruise, it is tough to sample all the food options that Disney Wish has to offer. Though, we did enjoy the options here better than the Marceline Market.

Smokestack BBQ | Cantina | Pizza Pies | Grill

Marceline Market (Deck 11)

Named for Walt Disney’s early childhood hometown in Missouri, Marceline Market is a stylish food hall inspired by popular marketplaces around the world. Disney Wish’s take on the typical cruise ship buffet features a number of food stations, a bar, and both indoor and outdoor seating.

The Marceline Market includes a variety of cuisine from American classics, international selections, seafood options, soups and salads, baked goods and desserts, and more. There is even a kids section featuring items like Mickey waffles for breakfast and chicken tenders for lunch.

Disney Wish Bahamas Cruise Review

Be sure to make your way to the back of the venue as this is where the custom omelet station is in the morning and the seafood bar in the afternoon.

Marceline Market is open for breakfast (around 7 to 10:45 AM) and lunch (around 12 to 2 PM). Disney Cruise Line claims that the venue functions as a casual, walk-around dining experience for breakfast and lunch, followed by table-service at dinnertime with entrees cooked to order. However, it was not open for dinner on our sailing.

Room Service

Room service is available 24 hours a day on Disney Wish. Further, most room service items are complimentary on Disney Cruise Line for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Breakfast items are available for delivery from 5 am to 9:30 am, and the all-day menu is available outside of breakfast hours.

The room service menu includes items like sandwiches, salads, desserts, as well as continental breakfast items.

Specialty Restaurants on Disney Wish

While Disney Wish does offer a number of complimentary dining venues, this new cruise ship also features a few specialty venues. These venues do all have up-charges, which you should consider when budgeting for your Disney cruise .

If you plan to dine at either of the two specialty restaurants, you should make reservations pre-cruise, as popular dining times do fill up quickly.

Keg & Compass (Deck 5)

The Keg & Compass is a nautically themed pub that celebrates stories of the sea with its décor and theming. Essentially, this is Disney Wish’s version of a sports bar.

Disney Wish Bahamas Cruise Review

With a selection of custom craft brews available exclusively aboard the Disney Wish, a few cocktails, and some wine, this is a great casual spot to relax with friends.

The Keg & Compass also has an a la carte food menu in the afternoon and evening. These offerings include everything from buffalo wings, to a German pretzel, to bangers and mash, or fish and chips. Prices range from $8 to $16 for these offerings. Although, we did not see anyone order any of these items during our cruise.

Keg & Compass Menu

Inside Out: Joyful Sweets (Deck 11)

For all those with a sweet tooth, you will definitely want to check out Inside Out: Joyful Sweets on Disney Wish. Paying tribute to the films emotional characters, you will find statues of the characters and plenty of sweet treats.

This venue serves candy-filled chocolate memory orbs, cupcakes, fresh-made ice cream and gelato, and more at a la carte pricing. Ice cream pricing starts at $3.50 for one scoop and gelato at $3.75 for one scoop.

Joyful Sweets Menu

Wheezy’s Freezies (Deck 12)

Located near the Toy Story Splash Zone, you will find Wheezy’s Freezies. This quick-service station serves up a variety of frosty snacks and drinks to enjoy. These include sno-cones and dole whip. All items at this spot are an up-charge.

Disney Wish Bahamas Cruise Review

Sno-cones are priced at $3.50 and dole whip is $6. Of course, you can upgrade to an adult treat by adding a shot of rum to your dole whip!

Palo Steakhouse (Deck 12)

One of the upscale specialty dining venues on the new Disney Wish is Palo Steakhouse located at the aft of the ship. This restaurant is an evolution of the Palo restaurant found on other DCL ships. Now, Palo Steakhouse combines authentic Italian dining with a modern steakhouse.

In a setting inspired by Cogsworth from the Beauty and the Beast film, guests can enjoy an elegant dinner with ocean views as the backdrop. With warm wood tones, shiny metal, and ornate clocks, this venue feels very luxurious.

Palo Steakhouse’s menu features Italian classics alongside premium cuts of beef. This menu pairs perfectly with Italian wine as well.

While dining at Palo Steakhouse, guests can choose the Prezzo Fisso menu or order a la carte. The Prezzo Fisso menu includes Antipasti, Insalata, Il Secondo, and Dolce with more limited options for each category.

There is a $45 per person up-charge for the Prezzo Fisso menu. Palo also serves brunch for $45.

Reservations are required for this adult dining venue.

Enchanté (Deck 12)

Enchanté offers the most luxurious dining experience on Disney Wish, also located at the aft of deck 12 on the starboard side. This specialty restaurant features a gourmet menu crafted by Michelin-starred Chef Arnaud Lallement. Chef Lallement also helped to create the menu for the French-inspired Remy restaurant on Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy.

With décor inspired by Lumiere from Beauty and the Beast, this venue is romantic and intimate with candlelight, shimmering light fixtures, a soft blue color palette, and metallic embellishments.

This 6-course dinner features expertly prepared dishes with seasonal ingredients from around the world for the most upscale and unique menu items.

In addition to dinner, Enchanté also offers a Brunch and Just Desserts dining experience. The Brunch features a glass of bubbly and a French-inspired 5-course prix fixe meal. The Just Desserts features a 5-course dessert menu served with coffee.

The up-charge for dinner is $125 with an optional extra wine pairing. The Collection experience is $195 with an optional extra champagne pairing. Additionally, there is an a la carte dinner menu if guests wish to choose their courses.

The up-charge for brunch is $75, and the dessert tasting menu up-charge is $60.

Like Palo Steakhouse, reservations are also required for this 18+ dining venue.

3 Day Disney Cruise Review (Is it worth it?)

Mickey ears on cruise ship

Are you considering booking a Disney Cruise vacation with a 3-day itinerary? Maybe you’re afraid 3-night cruises are too short.

Is a 3-day Disney cruise even worth it? Some experienced Disney cruisers will tell you that they would never cruise for less than 7 days and that a longer cruise is always the way to go. That may be true for some, but not everyone has the budget for an extensive Disney cruise vacation.

Maybe you aren’t able to take off work for a long enough period of time to enjoy a week-long cruise. Or perhaps you are worried a cruise isn’t the right type of vacation for your family, and you don’t want to commit to a long itinerary. Regardless of your reasoning for choosing a 3 day Disney cruise, it’s important to note that you will still receive the same amazing service, experience, and activities as those families sailing on Disney Cruise Line’s longer itineraries.

The post below will review my family’s time on a 3 day Disney cruise so that you can see all the reasons why we think a 3-night cruise is totally worth it! We’ll compare prices for short cruises vs long itineraries, and we will discuss the family-friendly entertainment that you’ll enjoy while cruising with Disney .

Disney 3 Day Cruise Price

Let’s be honest, a trip with Disney Cruise Line isn’t the cheapest way to travel. But like many things in travel, you get what you pay for. And the quality Disney provides makes up for the cost. If you are looking for a budget friendly way to sail on Disney cruise ships, the three-day cruises are typically cheaper than those with longer itineraries.

You can really trim down the extra costs by traveling on one of these shorter itineraries, especially if your sail dates aren’t during peak season. For example, my family’s 3-night Disney cruise on the Disney Fantasy was much more budget friendly than the longer cruises we have taken with Disney and other cruise lines.

Disney cruise ship, water slide, and toddler on beach with text overlay "Is a 3 Night Disney Cruise worth it?"

When you calculate excursions, tips, and items you buy onboard, this statement becomes even more accurate. There are several factors that go into the total price of a Disney cruise. Once you are aware of all the costs, you can possibly tweak your budget to save in some areas while maybe even splurging in others!

So, how much does a 3 day Disney cruise cost? In addition to the price you pay for booking your Disney Cruise stateroom, you will want to budget for some additional costs. We will cover these in more detail below, so you can better determine how much a 3 day Disney cruise vacation will cost you.

Port Adventures

Port Adventures (also known as shore excursions ) are those activities that you experience while you’re off the ship and while visiting ports of call. Many of Disney Cruise Line’s 3 day cruises are Bahamian cruises that visit Nassau and Castaway Cay. So, your port adventures would include the experiences you booked for those port stops.

For example, if you chose to book tickets to the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas, you would include this activity in your budget for port adventures . The total cost of a Disney cruise can largely depend on the shore excursions you book. If you’re looking to save money, Castaway Cay is a great place to stop on your Disney cruise.

Castaway Cay beach

Since Castaway Cay is Disney’s private island in the Bahamas, you can enjoy the beaches and many activities at no additional charge to your cruise fare. In fact, this is how my family and I saved on one of our 3-night Disney cruises. We booked a 3 day cruise that was classified as a double dip to Castaway Cay . This means we visited the private island twice on our cruise!

Since we chose to spend our two days on Castaway Cay just hanging out at the beach, this port didn’t cost us any additional money. Even if you aren’t able to find a double dip cruise, a 3 day Disney cruise only has time to visit a couple of ports. Therefore, you shouldn’t need to budget a ton of more money to pay for excursions on the islands you are visiting.

Another additional cost you will want to consider when budgeting for your 3 night Disney cruise is gratuities. Guests vacationing with DCL are charged $14.50 a day per person for gratuities. So, if you are traveling as a family of four, you would spend $58 per day on gratuities alone. This means that the total amount of gratuities at the end of a 3 night cruise would be $174 for a family of four.

Disney Fantasy cruise ship

When you compare this to the gratuity amount after a 7-night cruise, you can really see how much money you save on shorter itineraries. The gratuities for a family of four on a seven-night cruise totals $406, which is quite a bit more than the Disney 3-day cruise tip amount. As you can see, if you extend your cruise length, that tip money can add up quickly!

Additional Purchases

The more days and nights you spend on the Disney ship, the more you may feel enticed to make additional purchases. For example, when my family and I travel with Disney Cruise Line, we often spend extra money on things like popcorn for the live shows, adult beverages, and keepsakes from the gift shops.

Port Canaveral Disney Cruise Line terminal

These little items can add up, but the final bill for them typically isn’t that extravagant after only 3 days. On the contrary, if you make these little purchases each day for seven days, your final bill may end up coming with a bit of sticker shock.

If you’re someone who likes to plan and stay organized with your vacations, you’ll love this printable Disney cruise planner I created. While planning my family’s last cruise, I designed graphic organizers and spreadsheets for each step of the planning process.

↓↓ Visit My Etsy Shop ↓↓

Disney Cruise Planner

Originally, I created this printable cruise planner for my own personal use. However, I ended up making it “pretty” and deciding to share it with my readers. The 30+ page cruise planner includes organized sheets for the following:

  • hotel, flight, and transportation price comparisons
  • list of essentials for packing plus blank packing list
  • trip budget including many of the items discussed above
  • fish extender planner
  • planning timeline so you know what to do when

This planner also includes my daily itinerary complete with outfit planners. This REALLY helps in the packing process!

3 Day Cruise (but 4 Night Vacation)

As we discuss whether or not a 3 day Disney cruise is worth it, it’s important to point out that your vacation will (more than likely) be longer than three nights. If you are flying into the port for your cruise, I HIGHLY recommend getting there at least the day before embarkation day . Even if your travel party ends up making it to the ship, you will want to know your luggage has plenty of time to get there as well.

Flying into your departure port (at least) a day early allows for delayed flights, lost luggage, etc. This extra time allowance also extends your three-night cruise into a 4-night vacation! Similarly, you can extend your cruise vacation by adding an extra day to the end of your cruise.

Epcot ball and monorail

Sometimes flight times and prices don’t work out to fly home immediately after you leave the ship. Instead, you may consider booking a hotel room for the day you disembark the cruise ship. This way you have more flexibility with flight times on the following day. This is an especially appealing idea if your Disney cruise sails out of Port Canaveral, Florida.

Since Port Canaveral is less than an hour’s drive to Walt Disney World, you could get off the cruise ship and arrive at a Disney resort by late morning. It is much easier to say goodbye to your Disney cruise vacation when you know you have Disney World to look forward to!

3 Day Disney Cruise Activities

One of the reasons many families are nervous to book a 3 day cruise is that they are afraid they won’t have time to enjoy the Disney ship. From personal experience, I have to share that even though a 3-night Disney cruise is a shorter itinerary, you will still have plenty of time to experience the activities available on board. Now, don’t get me wrong. You definitely won’t get to see and do all the things that are offered on your cruise.

BUT cruisers say that very same thing about 7-night cruises! No matter how long you choose to sail, you will always feel like you missed some sort of activity or entertainment option. However, you spend so much time enjoying the activities you do get to experience that those options you missed really don’t matter in the end.

Oceaneer Club on the Disney Magic

Our advice when planning a 3 day cruise is to go in super prepared. I like to look at personal navigators from prior cruises to see which activities are offered on a 3 day itinerary. From there, you can decide which activities are the most important to your family. More than likely, you won’t have a problem making time for each one.

As an example of what your schedule may look like and how much time you need for activities, I’m going to share my family’s first few hours onboard the ship for our 3-night cruise to the Bahamas. Once we embarked on the first day at around 11:30, we had time to complete all of the following activities before we even set sail:

  • meet Disney characters
  • buffet lunch at Cabanas
  • swim in ship pools
  • unpack and organize stateroom
  • visit guest services to request a stroller
  • order snacks from room service

Additionally, I want to include that Disney 3 day cruises feature the same magical experiences as longer cruises, including Pirate Night, Broadway style shows, character meet and greets, fireworks, swimming pools, and more!

Ways to Save Money

As mentioned above, many of the 3 day cruise itineraries visit the Bahamas. This means that you more than likely would be making a stop at Castaway Cay during your cruise. Being able to experience this beautiful private island in the Bahamas is reason enough to book a Disney cruise.

Castaway Cay Beach

Since guests do not have to pay an additional fee to use the beaches and many of the activities on Castaway Cay, this island is the perfect port of call for budget conscious travelers. The buffet lunch on Castaway Cay is even included in your cruise fare!

If you’re looking for an additional way to save money on a Disney Cruise Line vacation, you can book a future cruise onboard for a discount. This way your next Disney cruise vacation can be a longer, pricier one with possibly a less expensive price tag. Disney Cruise Line offers 10% off the price of your next cruise if booked onboard, which can add up to a significant discount.

Concierge Stateroom Disney Magic

I like to scope out the upcoming cruise itineraries before sailing so I have an idea of what I would like to book once onboard. If you decide not to take the cruise you booked onboard, you can cancel it and get a refund on your deposit as long as you are inside the cancellation window. So, it’s really a win-win situation!

There are a few restrictions on this deal, including that you must sail within 24 months of the onboard booking. If you aren’t sure which cruise to book on board, you can purchase a “placeholder” for $250. This holds the onboard booking deal until you choose the cruise to apply it to.

Also, you may receive a discount on TWO staterooms as long as you put down a deposit on each. (These two staterooms must be booked on the same future cruise.) So, you can entice your family or friends to join you the next time around, and everyone can save money!

Final Review of 3 Day Disney Cruise

We hope you can tell just how much we love sailing with Disney Cruise Line. The cost and time commitments associated with longer cruises aren’t always feasible for every family. So, if you have been holding back booking a Disney 3 day cruise because you weren’t sure if it was worth it, we totally think it is!

Although we prefer a 5 night cruise or longer, my family and I would never hesitate to take a 3-night cruise with DCL. No matter which of the Disney ships you choose to book (Disney Wish, Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Magic, or Disney Fantasy), you will truly have the time of your lives!

After your trip, come back and give us your feedback! Do you think a 3 day Disney cruise is worth it or not? Comment below to share with us!

Hey, great read. I’m looking at the 2 or 3 night cruise from Sydney or Melbourne. On the 2 night cruise would it be worth it?

I’m so glad you enjoyed the article. A Disney cruise out of Australia sounds like an amazing experience! Personally, I think a 2 night cruise would be worth it for the same reasons mentioned above. Even though it’s not a long trip, you still get to enjoy the pools, shows, dining, and activities. Once onboard, you can book a second cruise for a discount and try a longer one then!

Hi! I’m platinum on carnival, but looking to take my daughter on her first cruise at the end of February for her 3rd birthday. She’ll technically be 2 at sailing.

Besides the obvious, do you lose anything doing only the 3 night? I really want to make sure we can dine in arrendelle

You'll be at each restaurant on a 3-night so you won't miss anything.

Other than that, its missing a sea day and basically having to leave the ship much too soon.

sergel02

You might not get to explore more of the ship. You will miss some of the specialty dining though like Palo unless you skip one of the main dining rooms.

Considering the fact that they are taking a two-year old, it doesn't sound like they will be doing Palo or Enchante. So they won't miss Arendale.

I would choose the 4-day over the 3-day in a heartbeat. Three days is just not enough time to enjoy the ship, especially with no sea day unless you don't get off in Nassau.

There are a few 3-nights that have a day at sea and a visit to Castaway Cay.

The disadvantage is basically just a shorter cruise; many just don’t get into vacation mode before they have to leave. And there’s the cost of travel to cruise cost ratio.

But there is the unknown of how anyone will react to cruising.  An extra 24 hours if someone is sick, grumpy, upset by new surroundings is a miserable day.

Three nights are typically weekends, F-M. Four nights, M-F.  Depends on work schedules.

Disney weekend cruises do not typically have the same party atmosphere you find on other carriers.

Time of year really is more of a determining factor as to demographics. We sailed late April and saw very few school age kids-teens.  The children were mainly pre-school.  Makes for a very peaceful vacation.

As stated above, you will dine in each of the three Main Dining Rooms (MDR) on any cruise.  Each restaurant has its own menu that everyone gets when they eat there. For the 4-night, you will repeat one of the venues, but will have a Pirate-themed menu (the entire ship has the same offering).

Oh, yeah - 4-night should have a Pirate  Night with fireworks.  That might be the significant difference.

Have a great time.

HeyPorter

The 3 night is really only two full days plus embarkation day  which is just a few hours.  It feels very short and very rushed (I just sailed the DVC 3 night charter on the Wish).   Do the 4 night, for sure.

After reading reviews (a lot of people not so happy with the Wish), I booked a cruise for January.   🥳 . Might not make sense, but nothing of what they didn’t like would bother me.  And things that look very promising.

(My cabin is on the pool deck / buffet / quick service dining - so just walk down the hall and out to fun.)

My sister already booked a 4-night, but I am doing a 3-night - thanks to price (total budget, not per-night).

This is not my first 3-night, so I know to expect the unpack - repack feeling.

But I will get a night in each of the MDRs and no Pirate Menu dinner (not my favorite).  The new menus look more promising than the rest of the fleet. After years of sailing on the new and future cruises, these new menus will probably seem ho-hum, too.

Pirate Night on Disney Wish: It’s Different from the Other DCL Ships

photo of Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, and Goofy dressed as pirates and performing at Mickey's Pirates in the Caribbean Party on the Disney Wish

Does Disney Wish have Pirate Night? Given the many changes between DCL’s newest ship and the older ones, many of which seem to aim for a more refined family experience, it’s a fair question.

The good news? The answer is yes! Pirate Night on Disney Wish is fully intact, complete with costumed characters, special foods, and parties on the pool deck.

What night is Pirate Night on Disney Wish?

Which night is Pirate Night on Disney Wish can vary from one cruise to the next for a multitude of unpredictable reasons.

That being said, the schedule is usually pretty consistent, particularly on shorter cruises (which is the only kind the Wish sails right now).

But since they can be really short, you may be wondering…

Do 3-night Disney cruises have pirate night?

They absolutely do! Pirate Night is a hallmark of Disney cruising, so they’re going to squeeze it in whenever they can. But this begs the question…

Which night is Pirate Night on a 3-day cruise on the Wish?

Disney avoids scheduling Pirate Night on the first and last nights of a cruise.

The first night is too soon for such a big celebration, and it would end too late for many guests to enjoy the festivities on the final night. Everyone has to get up super early to get off the ship!

So for a 3-day Wish cruise, Pirate Night occurs on the second night, regardless of which port it’s at that day. (It’s usually Nassau, but it could be Castaway Cay if Nassau is not on your 3-day itinerary.)

Mr. Smee from Peter Pan at Mickey's Pirates in the Caribbean Party

Which night is Pirate Night on a 4-day cruise on the WIsh?

With the extra night, it can be tough to know when to plan for Pirate Night on a 4-night cruise.

On our cruise, and on every other Disney Wish cruise I’ve seen, Pirate Night always happens on the third night.

This is usually the night before the Wish either docks at Castaway Cay or stays out at sea, depending on your itinerary.

If you want to be 100% sure that your booked cruise will have Pirate Night on the third night, just check the DCL Navigator app when your activity booking window opens.

You should see “pirate makeovers” available at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on the scheduled pirate day, as opposed to the usual fairy tale makeovers.

Does everyone dress up for Pirate Night on a Disney cruise?

Dressing up on Pirate Night is not required, nor is it something everyone partakes in.

That said, you will see a lot of people dressed for the occasion. On most sailings, a majority of Disney cruisers put in some kind of effort to match the theme of the evening.

You’ll see everything from simple head bandanas to full-on pirate Halloween costumes!

Disney Cruise Pirate Night Ideas

If you do want to join the pirate crew on Pirate Night, there are a lot of ways to do so, depending on your budget and commitment level!

Throw on a bandana

You can bring your own bandana to wear, and it takes up minimal space in your suitcase. It’s the easiest way to transform yourself into a pirate!

a mother and son dressed as pirates on Pirate Night on the Disney Wish

If you forget to bring one, they are also available for purchase on the Wish at Mickey’s Mainsail. This is a bit of an insult considering they are given away for free on other ships, but the ones for sale are different from the free ones.

Pack a pirate accessory kit

Check your costume jewelry stash! You just might have a hoop earring or eye patch stored away, just waiting for its moment.

Disney also allows you to pack toy swords in your luggage! Just make sure it doesn’t look remotely real, or it will be confiscated. A foam sword would be your best bet.

For my kids, I actually packed collapsible light swords and surprised them with them on Pirate Night. They had a blast waving them around on the pool deck at parties, and it made them easy to spot in the crowd at night.

Make or buy a pirate-themed t-shirt

Whether you want the whole family to match or your husband just refuses to wear costume clothes (ahem), t-shirts are a great way to go!

I used my Cricut Maker 3 to cut out some heat transfer vinyl and iron it onto a shirt for my husband, as seen below.

red shirt with a skull and crossbones wearing an eye patch and the words "It's all fun and games until somebody needs an eye patch"

There are also plenty of simple tees available for purchase that do their best to turn you into a swashbuckler.

Bring a ready-to-go costume

We happened to be sailing a Disney Wish Halloween on the High Seas cruise, so there were a ton of pirate accessories and costumes at our local stores we could’ve used for our cruise.

A lot of people book Disney cruises really far in advance, so if Halloween comes up between now and your cruise, keep your eye out for costumes!

Alternatively, pirate costumes are pretty much always for sale at online retailers .

Rather than full-blown costumes, I decided to get my kids some striped shirts and kids’ pirate accessory packs that came with felt hats, eye patches, and capes.

Book Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for your kids

On Pirate Night, no princesses are made at BBB. Instead, there’s a Pirate League takeover!

The best part? It’s not just for kids! Even adults can get scurvied up at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on Pirate Night, along with any child at least 3 years old.

There are two packages available to all ages: a makeup and accessory bit for $59.95, or the Swashbuckle for $99.95 which also includes a vest, belt, and shoulder parrot.

The biggest package for $199.95 is the only one that comes with a full pirate costume in addition to the accessories from the smaller packages. This option is only available to kids ages 3 to 12. It also comes with a telescope!

It’s worth noting that pirate makeovers tend to sell out quickly on Disney cruises, so book it as soon as you can. On our cruise, regular makeovers were still available to book all the way up to boarding day, but none for Pirate Night.

Mickey Mouse dressed as a pirate

Book the salon or barbery for a styling

Looking for a more sophisticated transformation? I highly recommend checking out the adults-only salons for a fun Pirate Night hairstyle!

At the Untangled Salon for ladies, they have a Braid Bar where you can request something simple or a head full of braids – just ask for the price up front!

My husband actually booked Hook’s Barbery for a hair trim on Pirate Night. While he was there, he asked the barber if he could braid his long beard like a pirate’s. The barber said he’d never done it before, but he gave it a go, and it turned out GREAT!

Josh left them in all night and all throughout our time snorkeling at Castaway Cay the next day.

Does the Disney Wish give out free pirate bandanas?

Veteran DCL cruisers have come to expect complimentary pirate-themed bandanas to show up on their stateroom beds at some point before Pirate Night festivities begin.

As a first-time cruiser on the Wish, I was excited about this free souvenir!

Unfortunately, the Wish has chosen not to provide this perk to its guests. No official reason has been given as to why, but it’s kind of a bummer.

Disney Wish Pirate Night Menu

The Pirate Night menu on Disney Wish is, unfortunately, exactly the same as the old menu on all the older ships.

Jack's Treasure of the Seas from the Pirate Night menu on the Disney Wish

Many people thought Disney would take the release of a new ship class as an opportunity to try a new menu, especially considering many cruisers feel the old menu isn’t that good .

Alas, they’ve decided to stick with fleet-wide consistency for Pirate Night food.

That being said – 3-night Disney Wish cruises do NOT serve from the Pirate-themed menu. This is so you can enjoy the new dishes from all three new main dining restaurants!

So if you actually want to try Pirate Night menu options, you’ll need to book a 4-day cruise on the Wish.

the kids' menu on Pirate Night from Disney Cruise Line

We did get to try the pirate-themed menu on our first-ever cruise on the Disney Wish, and we agreed that it’s not the best food we’ve ever had. The MDRs served much better dishes.

Fortunately, we’d stuffed ourselves with sandwiches and desserts at Olaf’s Royal Picnic a couple of hours earlier, so we didn’t want much to eat anyway.

What time does the deck party begin?

As with the older ships, the Disney Wish has two distinct Pirate Night parties held on the pool deck. I highly recommend you catch both of them, and both of them are kid-friendly!

Mickey’s Pirates in the Caribbean

wide shot of the screens, including Funnel Vision, on the Disney Wish before Mickey's Pirates in the Caribbean starts

Repeat Disney cruisers will recognize the character deck party from the old ships.

Both the characters and the storyline of Mickey’s Pirates in the Caribbean are the same as they’ve always been.

Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, and Goofy (dressed as pirates) teach everyone how to be good buccaneers. Just in time, too, because Captain Hook and Mr. Smee have nefarious plans in place!

Captain Hook and Mr. Smee prancing across the stage at Mickey's Pirates in the Caribbean Party

The start time of this show can vary from cruise to cruise. But on our cruise, and on the schedules of other Wish cruises I’ve seen, it’s usually scheduled to start at 7:45PM.

This allows the first dining group to finish eating and catch the deck show before heading to their evening entertainment in Walt Disney Theatre.

While the show only lasts about 20 minutes, it’s full of good wholesome fun and a sing-along the kids will love!

We had time after the show to stop by our room and drop off the kids’ toy swords before heading to the theatre. On our bed, we found that our host left us special chocolate coins with a pirate skull and crossbones on one side and “Dead Men Tell No Tales” on the other.

There was also a towel creature that we couldn’t quite identify… but we were impressed, nonetheless!

Pirate’s Rockin’ Parlay Party

On Pirate Night, Disney Wish does have one advantage over the older ships, and that is the brand new evening show: Pirate’s Rockin’ Parlay Party!

Unique to the Wish, this pool deck party starts around 10:15PM and lasts about 30 minutes (including fireworks) .

A pirate rock band known as the Scalawags – or was it Swashbucklers? I’m not sure – performs classic rock hits along with Captain Redd. She’s explained to be a descendant of Captain Redd from the recently modified Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disney parks.

Captain Redd and the Swashbucklers band rocking out on the Disney Wish

On our cruise, I quickly recognized her fellow singer in blue as the same man that played Prince Eric in the ship’s production of The Little Mermaid . Not that I got lost in his eyes, or anything…

male singer of the Swashbucklers rock band on the Disney Wish

Anyway, in addition to “Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me),” Redd’s band plays other famous hits such as:

  • Part of “We Will Rock You” by Queen
  • “We’re Not Gonna Take It” by Twisted Sister
  • “Rock and Roll All Nite” by KISS

Though from what I’ve seen and heard, they don’t always play all of this at every show. The only one that seems consistent other than “Yo Ho” is “We’re Not Gonna Take It.”

A favorite familiar bit from previous pirate parties is still featured in Pirate’s Rockin’ Parlay Party, though: the dramatic entrance of Captain Jack Sparrow from high above the stage.

Disney Wish Fireworks

For the finale of this final pirate deck party, the Disney Wish sets off a series of fireworks timed to the theme from Pirates of the Caribbean .

Fireworks displays at sea can only be found on Disney Cruise Line, so you don’t want to miss them!

Is there a Disney Wish Pirate Night buffet?

Love it or hate it, those who have sailed on Disney’s older ships have always been able to count on a “pirate buffet” at Cabanas right after the fireworks end.

Most cruisers will tell you that the snacks are good (you can’t get nachos on the ship at any other time), while also telling you that the lines to get these special foods are long .

Well, no need to worry about whether you do or don’t want to try your hand at these late-night treats. The Disney Wish does NOT offer a Pirate Night buffet in Marceline Market.

However, on our way back to our room, I did notice that Daisy’s Pizza Pies did have plenty of slices on display and ready to go.

Not interested in pizza, but still feeling a craving? Room service on the Disney Wish is 24 hours a day!

Other Disney Wish Pirate Night Activities

Photo opportunities.

Throughout the day, you’ll see several scheduled opportunities to take pictures with Disney Wish characters including Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, and Goofy. All of them will be decked out in elaborate pirate costumes!

Donald Duck dressed as a pirate

There are even opportunities to meet Captain Hook and Mr. Smee (together), but the lines for them can get long , so get there at least 30 minutes early.

Hook and Smee are usually scheduled to meet at 4PM and 5PM, with about a half-hour break in between (cast members WILL cut off the line).

Captain Hook and Mr. Smee posing with a child on the Disney Wish ship

Pirate-Themed Crafts

While there’s no guarantee, and the DCL Navigator schedule doesn’t always specify the type of craft, many of the day’s creations on Pirate Night are pirate-themed.

In fact, you’re likely to notice a pirate theme in most of the ship’s activities that day.

Pirate Trivia

On most cruises, around 4PM you’ll see Pirate Trivia being held somewhere on the Disney Wish.

It’s usually in the Triton Lounge, which is very small, so get there early if you want a seat.

Daisy Duck dressed as a pirate on a Disney cruise

Learn to Draw Captain Hook

There are a lot of “learn to draw” opportunities throughout Disney Wish cruises, but who can resist learning to draw the ultimate ship villain?

You’ll generally find this activity on the schedule around 4:45PM , and it’s also usually held in the Triton Lounge.

Captain Hook’s Pirate Crew in Oceaneer Club

Scheduled around 9:15PM , this activity could interfere with the evening’s entertainment at Walt Disney Theatre (depending on what it is). The good news is the three main Broadway-style shows are usually NOT scheduled on Pirate Night.

But if your kids aren’t interested in whatever is happening at WDT, drop them off at the kids’ club for some smarmy adventures with Captain Hook! You’ll still have time to pick them up before Pirate’s Rockin’ Parlay Party.

a boy and girl dressed as pirates running into Goofy dressed as a pirate on the Disney Wish ship

Curse of the Black Pearl on Funnel Vision

After the final deck party, fireworks, and residual dancing have ended, grab a chair and settle in wherever you have a good view of Funnel Vision.

If you can stay awake, the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie will start playing on the giant screen around 11:15PM !

Tips for Pirate Night on Disney Wish

Disney goes to great lengths to ensure everyone aboard has a fabulous time on Pirate Night.

So much so, that it may not be possible to participate in all of the special pirate-y activities!

Chip and Dale dressed as pirates

Here are my best tips for making the most of your day.

  • If you want to try an adults-only dinner, schedule it for this night. On a 4-night Wish cruise, this is the only night you can enjoy an upcharge dining experience without missing out on the other restaurant menus in your Disney Wish dining rotation . (And take my word, you won’t regret skipping the Pirate Night menu for it.) I don’t recommend dinner at PALO or Enchante on a 3-night cruise at all, because you’ll miss out on one of the MDRs. In this case, opt for a brunch instead (if you can get a reservation)!
  • Bring a costume. Or at least a pirate shirt. No, it’s not required, but I promise you this: dressing like a pirate really helps you get into the groove. You’ll enjoy everything a lot more when you feel like you’re a part of it!
  • Dress like a pirate before meeting characters. I noticed many guests who had first seating for dinner chose to go back to their staterooms to change into pirate gear after they ate. Don’t do that! The character meet-and-greets are mostly before dinner, and you’re unlikely to catch the ones in the evening if you’re attending both deck parties. If you’re worried about getting food on your costume, well, tuck a napkin in your collar! If you have any desire to get photos with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, or Goofy in their pirate outfits, you’re going to love them so much more if you’re dressed to match!
  • Show up early to the deck parties. My family and I got to the pool deck 10-15 minutes before the shows were set to start, and we got pretty great viewing spots right in front of the stage. But the entire pool deck, including the areas on the deck above, fills up lightning fast!
  • Prepare young kids ahead of time for what will happen. Mickey’s Pirates in the Caribbean is quite wholesome, but it does feature some fight scenes and cannon fire, which might scare little ones. Captain Hook can also be a bit creepy. Reassure them ahead of time that it’s all pretend! Pirate’s Rockin’ Parlay Party is less fighting and more rocking, but it is quite loud. Jack Sparrow’s entrance may also frighten children who think he’ll get hurt. Fireworks are scary to some as well.
  • Stand in front of the stage for Mickey’s party. My kids were able to actually see what the characters were doing without relying on the Funnel Vision screen since we got there early enough to be close to the front. Mickey’s show also doesn’t have fireworks, so there’s no need to worry about having a good view of them.
  • Stand on the starboard (right) side of deck 12 during Captain Redd’s party. While I enjoyed being close to the stage for this show as well, I quickly realized the primo spot was actually up higher and to my right. Why? Well, when the fireworks started, they went off the starboard side of the ship. Not only that, our view was somewhat obstructed by the AquaMouse water slide. Had we been on deck 12 to the right, we’d have been able to see everything – including the show – without obstruction. If you have kids, this is still a good idea, because the rock band is pretty loud, and being close to the speakers can be a bit much.
  • Don’t care for crowds? Get a starboard verandah room. If we had wanted, we could’ve watched the fireworks from the comfort of our Disney Wish verandah room since we stayed on the starboard side! If this is something that appeals to you, do know that the higher the deck, the better the view. Alternatively, you could always just enjoy a drink at Hyperspace Lounge without a crowd!
  • Grab a slice at Daisy’s Pizza Pies after the fireworks. When we walked by the quick service station, there was no one in line yet! This is a really great idea if you plan on hanging out on deck to watch Curse of the Black Pearl . Ask for several slices and enjoy the movie while you eat.

You’re now ready to make the most of Pirate Night on the Disney Wish.

Make sure you learn all the tips and tricks for the new ship from my thorough Disney Wish review !

Trip Log Day 2: Disney Wish – 3-Night Halloween on the High Seas Bahamian Cruise – Nassau

Trip log, day two. Nassau, Bahamas. 3-Night Halloween on the High Seas Bahamian Cruise from Port Canaveral, Florida  October 14, 2023

Disney Wish Staterrom Map Day 2 Nassau 20231014

Guests Ashore : 9:30 am  Guests Onboard : 5:15 pm Personal Navigator – Day 2

Took advantage of an early Saturday morning to go on a photowalk around the quiet ship with the focus on the halloween decor in the Grand Hall. My plan was to start in the Grand Hall (as well as the atrium on the other ships) as this can be the most challenging location to photograph without other guests in the shot. Since this was my first Halloween on the High Seas cruise aboard the Disney Wish, I wanted to capture photos of “ Boo ,” the Pumpkin Tree.

PUMPKIN TREE

Wish Grand Hall Pumpkin Tree

Frankly, Pumpkin Tree photos was my primary objective this morning. After that, it was just a casual photowalk that turned into taking pictures of the cats of the Disney Wish. All that was missing were actual cats. Below are just a few of the cat pictures I captured during my morning stroll.

Wish Cat Cheshire Cat

It was still early-ish, and Nassau was still not visible on the horizon so I enjoyed the sunrise with a cup of coffee.

Wish Bahamian Sunrise

I had a timelapse setup for our arrival to share as a video, but the GoPro I was using overheated, and cut out just as the ship was entering the port near the lighthouse. What was salvaged I added to the start of a video included later in this trip log entry.

Wish Nassau

The renovated Nassau Cruise Port looks great from the ship, a welcoming change from the multi-year construction sight and prior to that, storm damaged buildings.

Nassau Cruise Port

On our way to The Rose to meet folks for Palo brunch, we stopped at a halloween photo op on the upper deck near the forward funnel.

DCL Photos Palo Brunch Pool

The bartenders were still getting The Rose setup for service so we did not order any pre-brunch beverages. Each time I walk through Palo Steakhouse, I think I spotted something that wasn’t there before, like this clock and the unpictured cutlery handles on the wine coolers near the entrance.

Wish Palo Steakhouse

Today’s first group cruise event was a group brunch at Palo Steakhouse. The following menu has been added along with pictures for almost all menu items here .

Wish Palo Steakhouse Brunch Menu

One of the benefits of brunch with a large group is that you can get a taste of the old brunch were you can sample a bunch of stuff when ordering a variety of items for the group to share. They bring it and it is served family-style.

Wish Palo Steakhouse Brunch Breads Antipasti

We had a selection of the flatbreads (which is fancy for pizza), including the off menu grape and gorgonzola!

Wish Palo Steakhouse Brunch Flatbreads

The egg frittata and omelet arrived and looked amazing. I was able to sample the frittata, and it was downright delicious.

Wish Palo Steakhouse Brunch Cheese Ham Frittata

11 out of 10 times, I will order the Parmesan-Crusted Chicken. However, today I ordered something that I normally would never order, anywhere – EGGPLANT. I won’t say where I last tried an eggplant entrée, but it was so bad I’ve had an aversion to anything eggplant since. The Rollatini Melanzane changed my mind on eggplant and clearly my aversion was due to the preparation, not eggplant itself. The eggplant entree at PALO Steakhouse was wonderful and I will defiantly order again during future brunch visits.

Wish Palo Steakhouse Brunch Parmesan Crusted Chicken Breast

Did anyone leave room for dessert? Not really, but ok, we’ll go out for a nice walk later. The plating of the desserts does not go unnoticed, each dessert delivered to our table looked great on the plate.

Wish Palo Steakhouse Brunch Dessert Menu

One of the most interesting art installations on the Disney Wish is hidden in the private room in the back of Palo Steakhouse . My pictures do not do this justice as the reflections cloud the intricate details of the individual watch gears and clockwork parts. This is one of those creations that I wish was in a more public space to see and appreciate more often.

During brunch, Isabelle went around the Wish passing out goodie bags to the staterooms in our group and hid some rubber ducks.

Following brunch, I got momentary distracted by college football.

This is our first time back to Nassau since the official opening of the new $300 million dollar renovation of Nassau Cruise Port . As I mentioned earlier, it looks great from the ship, but more importantly, I wanted to see the new port up close.

Near the cruise ships we spotted a Guest Services area which was later staffed with a representative from the port and a police officer.

Nassau Cruise Port

I picked up what I assumed was a Nassau Cruise Port shopping guide and map, but it was a general Nassau area map. Still quite helpful for those exploring the area outside of the port fences. The QR code on the printed map leads to an interactive map at https://nassau.anchormate.io/home .

Nassau Port Map

The pier area was clean and the walkway from the ship provided adequate space for a busy day and was mostly shaded! As we approached land, we were greeted by a giant video screen with a neat virtual 3D aquarium intermixed with advertisements for area businesses and attractions.

Nassau Cruise Port

One of the best things about the immediate port area is the abundance of restroom facilities, including a location with water and a bottle filling station right at the end of the pier near the security checkpoint!

Nassau Cruise Port

Today, we were the only ship in port when we went ashore resulting in a lovely walk around an empty port.

Nassau Cruise Port

However, due to a the newness of the renovation, and the single ship in port not a lot of the venues within the port were operation, or open on a glorious Saturday afternoon.

Nassau Cruise Port

At the far end of the cruise port is an amphitheater, which I am sure is a fun venue for locals to enjoy some entertainment. Not knowing the future use plans for this area, but it seems like a great spot to go out and toss the ball around (potentially – not seeing untying preventing this on the posted rules), or let the kids play in an open area.

Nassau Cruise Port

In my humble opinion, the revised cruise port gates are placed in the perfect spots with one directly across the street from Pirate Republic Brewing . In our numerous visits during port days, the atmosphere has always been family friendly. The beer and cocktails are great as well as the food (we did not eat here today, but have in the past – Emily loves their conch fritters). They offer a selection of canned beers to go which you can carry back onboard within your personal carry on allotment of 6 cans.

Nassau Pirate Republic Brewing Company

One of the other primary spots at the Nassau Cruise Port is The Bahamas Museum of Junkanoo showcasing the parade, costumes, choreographed dancing, and music of the annual event. We did not have the time to explore on this trip as the museum recommends allowing about 45 minutes to tour. The museum recommends purchasing admission tickets ahead of time as this allows you to schedule a time slot to enter, but keep in mind tickets are non-refundable, but at this time can be moved to a different date . Admission is currently $10 per adult (children are $7) with guests 3 and under free.

Nassau Cruise Port

As the lone cruise ship in port, we were graced with numerous vantage points to take photos of the Disney Wish.

Nassau Cruise Port Disney Wish

One common event from our group cruises has been a ship specific scavenger hunt. We pass them out on embarkation day and provide everyone about 24 hours to explore the ship to mark down the location of each item. Our Disney Wish Photo Scavenger Hunt is available to print , and take with you on your next Disney Wish sailing; just be careful, as the solution key is also included in the linked article.

Disney Wish Scavenger Hunt

We also have photo scavenger hunts available for the Disney Magic and Disney Dream with another in the works for the Disney Wonder for our next group cruise.

Our next group activity was Halloween Music trivia which included a mix of tunes and clues. Below is a video with the clues for each song – let me know how you did at home.

While we were all gathered together, we also hosted our own craft corner, decorating small pumpkins.

Isabelle has been eager to go to Wheezy’s Freezies . While wearing her Wheezy’s Freezies t-shirt, today was the day! While there, we spotted the same Sorbos edible straws (← affiliate link) that we discovered during a spring break cruise on the Mardi Gras as well as a new to me fun etch-a-sketch Wheezy’s Freezies menu display. She chose the Cowboy Shake and it was served in a Nightmare Before Christmas HotHS tumbler.

Hello old friend! The DCL Beer mug with a refreshing Terrapin Luau Krunkles . Fun story, I did not have a plastic version of this mug in my collection, I’ve always left with the glass mug. As of today, I now have a plastic DCL Beer mug in my collection!

Wish Satelitte Bar DCL Beer Mug

If you are beer drinker, the beer mug is a great way to get more beer for your buck, and leave with a keepsake souvenir for only $15.25 (current price when purchased ahead of time from Disney Cruise Line’s Onboard Gifts & Amenities page ). The beer mug allows you to get a 21 oz. refill of beer for the price of a 16 oz based on the draft beer available on your sailing which can vary by venue.

DCL 25th Beer Mug Token Card

At anytime, you can turn the mug into a bartender for a beer mug token, which allows you to turn in the mug and use elsewhere for a new mug. Just make sure to exchange it before you leave so you have a clean beer mug to take home.

Our dinner rotation took us to 1923 tonight which ended up being a light dinner following our brunch earlier in the day.

Wish 1923 Los Feliz Lobster Salad

Our evening entertainment lineup started with 90s music trivia in Triton Lounge which needs to have 50% more capacity at least to handle the passenger demand – or at least that was the case this evening. The Dream class ships have the best venues for popular trivia with The Tube/Evolution and D-Lounge. Azure and Fathoms on the Wonder and Magic are often adequate, but the Wish venues feel cramped including at times, Luna.

Wish Triton Lounge KnowsMore Trivia 90s Music

Following 90s trivia (we did very well, but two groups did better!), we walked across the hall to Keg & Compass for college football and a general trivia session.

Wish Keg Compass KnowsMore Trivia

As the defecto sports bar on the Disney Wish, Keg & Compass offers a number of TVs and tonight actually had multiple college football games up until the start of trivial where the TVs are used for showing the trivia questions.

Wish Keg Compass

Thankfully, the Disney Wish offers stateroom tv on demand on your own device! Open up the DCL Navigator app and you will find a link to opens up in your browser with a selection of TV and on demand offerings to stream on your personal device while connected to the DCL-GUEST wireless network. Just like the other aspect of the DCL Navigator app, Stateroom TV DOES NOT REQUIRE A PAID INTERNET PACKAGE ! When looking for live sports, check the special event channel as those for instance are used on Sundays for NFL football games.

It was quiet in Mickey’s Mainsail when I walked by allowing me an opportunity to look at some of the Halloween merchandise available. I came close to picking up this cool Halloween on the High Seas Pumpkin Tree figure.

Oh, I almost forgot, tonight was Pirate Night.

Wish Pirate's Rockin' Parlay Party

Pirate’s Rockin’ Parlay Party remains my favorite pirate themed event across the fleet.

It’s been 84 years (or more like almost 2 days) and I’ve yet to grab a slice of pizza. Following the pirate party, I grabbed a night cap and headed to bed.

Wish Daisy's Pizza Pies Snack

This was also my first cruise since they updated the app to show the ship time conveniently placed under the clock on my iPhone. While not important on all sailings, this will be helpful on cruises elsewhere when your personal device clock does not updated to local time, or in some case when the ship time is different from local time on land (we’ve actually had this happened I believe in Europe once, and its very important when going ashore).

We returned to our room with a lovely towel animal on our bed with a flickering LED candle. Tomorrow, Castaway Cay.

Loving your report! May I ask, how many people were you able to have in the Palo private room?

' src=

The private room is typically maxed out at 10. At times they will try to accommodate additional guests, but the company line is a maximum of 10 guests.

The current private room request form for lists the following: Palo Private Room may be reserved for larger parties of…

  • Guests on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy
  • 8-14 Guests on the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder
  • 8-10 Guests on the Disney Wish
