Bindlestiff and our guide Chris Urban were outstanding!! His knowledge of the places we visited was amazing. He was also an excellent story teller. I would highly recommend Tourradar and Bindlestiff to anyone. Don Ahlstrand

Sedona, Monument Valley & Antelope Canyon – 3 days Tour

Sedona, Monument Valley & Antelope Canyon – 3 days

Loved this three day trip through Sedona , Monument Valley and Valley of Fires. Our tour guide Lorenzo is the best ever. He is patient kind and funny. He knows the information of the areas very well and makes people feel at ease even when things don’t go the way it’s planned . Our bus driver Ozzie was also fantastic and we felt safe in his capable hands . We had a brand new Greyhound bus ! It’s a long drive each day but the scenery was lovely . We are up early each day but it’s ok if you go to bed early. Hotel stay in Page was basic and breakfast average. But the price of this tour is good value overall . We couldn’t see Antelope Canon this time as there had been lots of rain and flash flooding . Instead we got a trip through the Valley of Fires . Highly recommend this trip!

Western Deserts – 3 days

We had a terrific guide in Lorenzo. He clearly enjoyed his job and was very organised. He made sure to cater to all ages and explained if some of the walks in the national parks were steep or had many stairs and offered alternative routes or other parts of the park to see. Would definitely recommend this trip. We also had a great driver, Tom, who safely got us from A to B.

National Parks Winter Tour Tour

National Parks Winter Tour

Well organised trip where you get to see the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Horseshoe Bend, Antelope Canyon and Zion National Park... if you're short on time but want to experience these epic places, I would definitely recommend! My only criticism is that I booked a group tour but it was only me and the tour guide, would have been good to get advance notice of this.

What people love about grand canyon tours.

It was an absolutely stellar tour with great value for money, and I would take another with Bindlestiff, no doubt. Our guide, Charlie, was the buddy you wanted to bring you along, sharing many insights and tales. Meeting the Navajo and enjoying the spectacular landscapes and parks have become memories for life.
Tour guide a great humanist able to reach out to all, domestic and foreign, to first form individual friendships that then led collectively to group bonding to experience nature's wonders. All members of our group became friends sharing the influence of our guide who understands human nature the way God would have it.
Loved the tour guide and bus driver

Grand Canyon National Park tours & vacations

Light streaming through clouds over the Grand Canyon on a sunny day, Arizona, USA

'Grand' doesn’t cut it. Mind-blowing? That’s more like it.

At 18 miles wide, 0.9 miles deep, and 277 miles long, nothing can ever prepare you for the vastness of the Grand Canyon. The views from the lookouts along the rim will take your breath away, but we like to go a little deeper — like hiking into the canyon depths and seeing the burnt-orange cliffs soar above you, falling asleep under spectacular night skies , and learning about the park's Indigenous history to connect with this ancient landscape. Make sure your camera's fully charged... you won't be able to put it down.

From 1 January 2023, Intrepid will no longer require travelers to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 (excluding all Polar trips and select adventure cruises).

However, we continue to strongly recommend that all Intrepid travelers and leaders get vaccinated to protect themselves and others.

Specific proof of testing or vaccination may still be required by your destination or airline. Please ensure you check travel and entry requirements carefully.

What is the Grand Canyon?

The Grand Canyon is one of the seven wonders of the world. It’s an 18-mile wide, 0.9 miles deep, and 277 miles long gorge carved by the Colorado River over 5-6 million years. Scientists estimate that humans have lived there since the last Ice Age.

How do I get to the Grand Canyon?

The closest airports to the Grand Canyon are Las Vegas and Phoenix, but you can also fly into Flagstaff (a one-hour drive from the South Rim) or Salt Lake City (about seven hours away by car). Public transport is limited, so the best option is to drive or join us on a tour.

Getting around the Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon has a free shuttle bus around the South Rim. The shuttles take you to the best viewpoints which are inaccessible to private vehicles.

There is also a Trans-Canyon-Shuttle service between the North and South Rims between May and October.

Guided bus tours also operate in the park, as well as taxi services between the South Kaibab Trailhead, Grand Canyon Village and Tusayan/Airport.

When is the best time to visit the Grand Canyon?

The best time to visit the Grand Canyon in terms of weather and avoiding huge crowds is between March and May, and September through November.

During the peak season (June-August), thousands of tourists flock to the park for the summer vacation. That being said, all hiking trails and park facilities are open, so it's the best time to experience all the park has to offer.

Temperatures drop in the winter and it snows in some areas, but it’s a great time to visit as there’s hardly anyone around and you’ll have the trails and views mostly to yourself.

What should I wear to the Grand Canyon?

No matter what season you visit the Grand Canyon, bring a sturdy pair of hiking boots or trainers with good grip, light and comfortable layers, a waterproof jacket, warm layers, a fleece, a sun hat, sunglasses and sunscreen.

Also, make sure you bring a reusable water bottle and plenty of snacks to refuel throughout the day.

What animals live in the Grand Canyon National Park?

Some animals you might encounter include desert bighorn sheep, deer, coyotes, mountain lions, mules, gray foxes and bears. There is also a diverse range of reptiles, amphibians and birds.

Can I use my mobile/cell phone in the Grand Canyon?

Your cell phone will probably have coverage near the park’s main tourist hubs, but there will be little or no coverage once you start hiking past the canyon rim.

Are Intrepid trips accessible for travelers with disabilities?

We are committed to making travel widely  accessible , regardless of ability or disability. We do our best to help you see the world, regardless of physical or mental limitations.

We are always happy to talk to travelers with disabilities and see if we can help guide them toward the most suitable itinerary for their needs and, where possible, make reasonable adjustments to our itineraries.

Zion National Park Tour

Impressive views, incredible hikes, and endless outdoor activities are just a few of the memorable things to experience on a Zion National Park tour. This one-day tour takes you to the famous Zion Canyon in Southern Utah to explore for the day then returns you back to Las Vegas that night.

Why Choose Us?

Grand canyon tours by grand canyon destinations.

Grand Canyon tours taken through Grand Canyon Destinations offer an adventure tour experience that is as memorable as it is fun. We offer canyon tours from Las Vegas. Our tours travel to the South and West Rim of the canyon as well as the Hoover Dam and Zion National Park . All of our luxury tour experiences travel in our well-equipped and comfortable fleet of tour buses or Sprinter vans.

The standard Grand Canyon tour companies use a driver and tour guide in one. This person then has to check guests in, narrate the tour, pass out lunches, answer questions, and drive a 40,000 pound vehicle safely. At Grand Canyon Destinations, we value safety and customer service. That is why we have a separate driver and tour guide on every tour bus. Your dedicated tour guide will be there to guide you, share facts and stories, answer your questions, and help you with any needs throughout the tour.

Our Grand Canyon Tours

Grand Canyon tours can be provided for small groups as well as large groups. Whether you plan to see the Hoover Dam or take one of our Grand Canyon South Rim bus tours, Grand Canyon Destinations can be your guide from Las Vegas. Being the best canyon tour company from Vegas means that we put you first.

We will exceed your expectations when it comes to service and comfort. When taking one of our tours, you will find different ways to explore. The following information will fill you in on what to expect when visiting the Grand Canyons West Rim or booking one of our South Rim tours through our website.

Traveling In Comfort

When it comes to traveling, we know that you want to be comfortable. That is why all of our tours make this a priority by riding in our luxury fleet of vehicles. The large tour buses hold up to 55 passengers. Each bus has an on board restroom, head and foot rests, TVs for entertainment, and individually controlled air conditioning.  There is plenty of room to stand up as well as storage for bags and souvenirs.

A Grand Canyon tour bus

If you choose to take a small group South or West Rim tour, you will ride in a 12-passenger Mercedes Sprinter van. There is extra leg room and ceilings tall enough to stand in these vans as well. Having your own personal tour guide will allow your small group to customize your tour as well.

Small group Grand Canyon tours travel in a Mercedes Sprinter

Traveling Along Route 66

One exclusive feature of traveling with Grand Canyon Destinations is that all our Grand Canyon tours see Route 66. Whether you take a South Rim or West Rim excursion, you will travel along historic Route 66 for over 50 miles on your journey. Many companies bypass this route in favor of the modern bypass highway. However, you cannot beat the views and experience of old Route 66. This roadway is nearly 100 years old, and your tour guide will be sure to share some of that amazing history with you along the drive.

Guided Walking Grand Canyon Tours

We provide guided walking tours to the canyon too. These tours allow guests to learn about the history of the area along with desert animals and plants. Small tour groups can go by a 12-passenger, luxury Mercedes Sprinter van to see all that a South Rim day tour has to offer. We travel to the more popular areas such as Grand Canyon National Park and the West Rim, as well as to scenic canyon areas in southern Utah. Whether you are traveling with your family, friends, or solo, we can help you find just the right option for a day trip from Las Vegas.

Tours To Grand Canyon National Park

You will love taking one of the Grand Canyon tours to the park, as you can plan this journey anytime. The park is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. While the South Rim is quite popular with tourists, the North Rim of the canyon is only open from the middle part of May to October. Therefore, North Rim tours are not as popular as a South Rim day trip or a West Rim bus tour.

Canyon Facts

Before you take one of our day trips from Las Vegas to the South Rim, it’s nice to know some facts about the canyon itself. The canyon is 277 miles in length. The Colorado River, at the canyon’s base, has carved out the rock of the canyon for about 6 million years. South Rim of the canyon became part of the US National Park system on February 26, 1919. Grand Canyon National Park is the second-most visited national park in the US after the Great Smoky Mountain National Park in Tennessee. The park sees about 6 million visitors annually.

For answers to more questions, such as, where is the Grand Canyon located, check out the national park website .

How Long It Takes To Reach Your Destination

If you go on one of our Las Vegas tours by bus, it will take about 4.5 hours to get to the park entrance. That is why we leave early in the morning at 6:00 am for our regular and rim VIP trips. We want you to be able to spend at least three hours inside the park once we reach the South Rim. From Las Vegas the park is about 280 miles away.

Travel Along Famous Route 66

The South Rim of the Grand Canyon is visited the most often of any location. You will love taking the rim day trip to the South Rim, as you don’t have to check in at a terminal, nor have to wait in line. Enjoy the desert-scape of the Mohave Desert, as one of the buses takes you to your destination along the famous Route 66.

Grand Canyon Village

One of the areas of the most well known areas is the Grand Canyon Village. This is one of the featured attractions of Grand Canyon tours and rim tours within the park. This trip from Las Vegas may be taken by luxury bus, as a guided walking tour, or as rim day trip for small or large groups.

Some Of The Rim Hotels

If you wish to spend a longer time in the park and not take one of the rim day trip excursions, you can arrange to stay at one of the rim hotels as part of your experience. One of the popular hotels on the South Rim is the historic El Tovar, which features 78 rooms. The Bright Angel Hotel feature 86 units. Two hotels that sit on the canyon’s rim include the Kachina Lodge and the Thunderbird Lodge. Therefore, you have several options if you don’t want to hurry back to Las Vegas.

How To Make The Most Of Your Time In The South Rim

You will find, once you enter Grand Canyon National Park, that three sections are part of the South Rim. These sections include Desert View Road, Hermit Road, and the Village. Each part offers a slightly different canyon experience when taking a South Rim day trip.

These sections are well known by travelers to the South Rim, unlike the areas of the North Rim. The North Rim is more remote and does not feature interactive buildings and activities. It is also closed in the winter time, which makes Grand Canyon North Rim tours rare journeys.

For example, you may want to rent a bicycle and bike along the 7-mile-long Hermit Road at the South Rim. Hermit Road begins at the Village and ends at the landmark of Hermit’s Rest. You can either bike or visit the viewpoints along the road by shuttle. The shuttle runs from March 1 until November 30. You must hike or take a bike from December to February. We recommend biking along the road, as it is easier than hopping on and off a shuttle, and much quicker than walking.

Popular South Rim Viewpoints

The viewpoints in the South Rim will give you some stunning views of the surrounding rockscape. Some of the popular venues include Mather Point, Yavapai Point, and Bright Angel Lodge. Mather Point can be seen at the beginning of a South Rim tour, while Yavapai point is at the halfway point on a walking tour, and Bright Angel Lodge is the ending point. All provide amazing and different views into the canyon.

View into the South Rim seen on Grand Canyon tours

Walking The South Rim Trail Of Time

You might also want to walk the South Rim Trail. This trail accommodates hikers and walkers of various skills and abilities, as most of the trail is paved and flat. The trail, which follows the perimeter of the rim, stretches 13 miles or 21 km from Hermit’s Rest to the South Kaibab trailhead. If you don’t want to walk all the 13 miles, you can always choose a small part of the trail to walk and use the shuttle part of the time.

Bright Angel Trail

One of the popular trails on the South Rim is the Bright Angel Trail. This trail, which is easily accessible, begins at Grand Canyon Village. Bright Angel Trail begins at the South Rim and finishes at Bright Angel Campground, close to the Colorado River. In total, the trail is about 9.5 miles in length and descends almost 4,400 feet. Like the South Rim Trail, you can hike part of the trail on one of our day trips, as it is difficult to walk the trail and come back in the same day. Therefore, we recommend that you hike part of the trail and turn around.

When you take one of our Las Vegas tours, you can make the trip extra special by adding some unique activities. As mentioned, our Grand Canyon tours are adaptable to allow you to add any excursions you are interested in. This may mean you want to include one of the airplane tours at the South Rim, which can be arranged if you book in advance. Seeing Bright Angel Lodge and the expansive South Rim of the canyon from an air tour is an incredible site to see. Keep in mind that many activities are not possible during a one-day tour. However, you can take a bus tour to the canyon, stay the night, and return the following day on our bus tour.

Whatever form your tour takes, we are here to make the trip fun and memorable. Taking one of our tours and communicating with our tour guides makes day trip tours in Grand Canyon locations that much more memorable.

Shortening Your Excursion Along Bright Angel Trail

One of the hiking options you can take on a canyon day trip along Bright Angel Trail is walking 1.5 miles to the resthouse. The path is a 3-mile round trip that allows you to descend a switchback trail on the rim.

More ambitious hikers hike the Bright Angel Trail to the Indian Garden, which offers a 9-mile roundtrip adventure. After you past the resthouse on this trail, the path levels out, although you are still descending down the trail. Don’t try to go past the Indian Garden in the summer, as the thermometer can read triple-digit Fahrenheit temperatures.

Plateau Point

If you choose to take the trail when it is cooler, you may pursue an adventure down Bright Angel Trail to Plateau Point. This 12-mile round-trip hike is beyond Indian Garden, and permits trail-goers to see a great view of the Colorado River.

A Tip For Hikers Who Hike Bright Angel Trail

One tip to remember when hiking the Bright Angel Trail is that going down the trail is much easier than returning, as you are walking up an incline. If you take the Bright Angel Trail, it is best to begin early, and arm yourself with plenty of water and salty snacks. You should also give yourself ample time to return from your hike, back to the rim. If you go on one of our day trips, you should pursue the 3-mile resthouse turnaround trail.

Visiting The IMAX Theater At The Visitor Center

If you want to forego hiking altogether, you can enjoy a movie at the IMAX theater in the park Visitors Center. The 34-minute Grand Canyon production may not be the same as seeing the canyon itself, but it will give you a good introduction to the canyon and its history. It also allows you to escape the heat in the summer in a comfortable, air-conditioned theater.

Visiting The Grand Canyon Skywalk At The West Rim

You can also experience tours to the West Rim and Skywalk. A Skywalk tour will take you to Grand Canyon West , owned and inhabited by the Hualapai tribe. When taking a West Rim bus tour, you can travel on our fully equipped bus and take in the sights from panoramic windows. A West Rim guided tour is also included for day travelers. This type of trip is popular, as it permits visitors to interact and engage in the tour activity.

If you are vacationing with a small group in Las Vegas, ask about our VIP West Rim bus tour for small groups. We can take up to 12 guests to the West Rim in a Mercedes Sprinter. One of our tour guides will serve as your personal tour escort.

Grand Canyon tours to the West Rim allow you to see the Colorado River here

Some Facts About The Skywalk

The Grand Canyon Skywalk is a must-see attraction at Grand Canyon West. The bridge is made of reinforced glass creating a see-through platform that allows visitors to see down to the canyon floor. Don’t worry about the sturdiness of the glass bridge. It can hold as many as 70 jets, fully loaded with travelers. Only 120 visitors are allowed on the bridge at one time.

Zion National Park And Hoover Dam

We also can take you to Zion National Park, located in Utah. This popular tour option allows you to explore Zion Canyon in Southern Utah in the day and return to Las Vegas at night. If you would like to take a short, half-day tour to the Hoover Dam, we also offer this tour. You can take an express tour or one of our classic Hoover Dam tours, which includes an underground tour of the powerplant.

Unique Grand Canyon Activities

A rim bus tour may lead to the South Rim or West Rim. Grand Canyon tours can take various forms depending on what you would like to see and do. For example, you may want to schedule a mule ride as one of the activities on a canyon trip.

This type of pursuit must be scheduled well in advance, as it is one of the unique outdoor activities at the canyon. You just need to decide which hotel you want to include on your itinerary. You may wish to fly to the West Rim and view the Skywalk, or go toward the North Rim or South Rim on one of the Grand Canyon tours. We can customize a travel plan according to your needs and preferences when you take a tour. In addition to our regular excursions, we can also work with you to plan a personalized journey.

Other Travel Experiences

Considering how breathtaking the Grand Canyon is, it is easy to see why national park tours are such popular escapes from Las Vegas. Grand Canyon tours can also include the following activities:

  • Grand Canyon National park tours can be lead by our professional tour guides or led by rangers in the park.
  • A railway excursion into the park by an old-fashioned steam locomotive. This type of adventure tour is available during the summer months.
  • Grand Canyon Village is where you can see historic sites. You can take the shuttle or walk the length of the village, which has been proclaimed a historic landmark site.
  • Hoover Dam tours are offered as half-day tours to the Hoover Dam.

Best Times To Visit

Grand Canyon Destinations can take you to Zion National Park, the Grand Canyon, or Hoover Dam. Peak season at the canyon are the summer months, leaving spring and fall less crowded times to visit. Not only is the weather more temperate, the number of people thin out during these times. If you travel from June to September, expect to see larger crowds.

By taking one of our tours, you can get to your destination without worrying about parking or access. A day trip to the South Rim or West Rim is always a fun travel choice from Las Vegas. It also gives you a break in your regular vacation routine.

A guest and a walking tour guide on a West Rim tour

What To Expect On A South Rim Or West Rim Journey

The travel time to the South Rim of the canyon is longer than to the West Rim. Therefore, tour buses leave around 6:00 AM for the South Rim. If you visit the West Rim, the tour bus will pick you up from or near your hotel at around 7:00 AM.

What To Wear At The Grand Canyon

When visiting any part of the Grand Canyon, make sure you dress in layers and wear sunscreen. The sun can reflect strongly off canyon walls. The weather can also change in an instant, especially if you go from one elevation to the next. Be prepared when you visit Zion National Park or the canyon. The walls of the canyons capture the heat of the sun during the summer and the trails can be especially dangerous when it snows.

While the surrounding sights around Las Vegas are beautiful, you still have to make sure that you stay protected from the outside elements. We can help with all your Grand Canyon travel needs. Take one of our canyon tours here at Grand Canyon Destinations, or choose to travel to Utah. Our friendly tour guides and well-equipped buses will make any initial tour of the sites informative and interesting.

The loading and unloading of walkers, wheelchairs, and scooters will be the responsibility of the passenger and the company will not be liable for any damages that may occur to the item in the bus compartment.

A trip to Las Vegas wouldn't be complete without experiencing the awe-inspiring natural wonders just outside of it, such as the Grand Canyon. Tourists and locals alike will enjoy a break from the bright lights and bustling city on a bus tour to the Grand Canyon. As one of the largest natural canyons on Earth, the Grand Canyon is more than 270 miles long, meaning there are multiple destinations to explore; the most popular are the South and West Rims.

Best Overall: Grand Canyon West Rim Bus/Helicopter & Landing Tour with Optional Skywalk

Tour operator: Canyon Tours Price: From $358 per person Duration: About 10 hours

Visitors can experience the ultimate Grand Canyon bus tour paired with an unforgettable helicopter ride down to the floor of the canyon. The adventure begins on an air-conditioned tour bus that departs from the Vegas Strip and carries passengers to the West Rim. From there, passengers will board a helicopter that descends 4,000 feet, landing on the floor of the canyon. Visitors can explore the canyon floor before reboarding the motorcoach and continuing onto Grand Canyon West, which is home to Guano Point, Eagle Point and Hualapai Ranch. You'll also have the option to brave the world-famous glass Skywalk for sweeping views (and an additional fee).

Local tip: Grand Canyon West is located on the Hualapai Indian Reservation, which is owned and operated by the Hualapai Tribal Nation. Best West Rim Tour: Grand Canyon West Rim Bus Tour with Lunch, Hoover Dam Stop and Skywalk

Aerial of Hoover Dam and Lake Mead.

Tour operator: Grand Canyon Destinations Price: From $99 per person Duration: About 11 hours

Located in Peach Springs, Arizona, the West Rim is only a few hours from Las Vegas. This tour will show you the best that the West Rim has to offer, including the glass-bottomed Grand Canyon Skywalk bridge (for an added fee). After being picked up from select Vegas hotels and traveling three hours on an air-conditioned bus, passengers get to spend up to four hours exploring the West Rim. A must-see lookout point at the West Rim is Guano Point, from which you can hike to Highpoint Hike and get a view of the Colorado River.

A lunch box, snacks and plenty of water are included with the tour. One unique feature of this outing is that you get to stop at the Hoover Dam for a photo during the bus journey (but keep in mind this stop is available seasonally). You can also choose from several upgrades, including a Skywalk admission ticket, a helicopter ride or a boat excursion.

Local tip: Because it's closer to the Las Vegas desert, this side of the Grand Canyon is the warmest year-round, with hot and dry summers, mild shoulder seasons, and occasional snowfall in the winter.

Best Budget: Grand Canyon South Rim Bus Tour from Las Vegas

The Grand Canyon Village Observation Tower at the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park.

Tour operator: Grand Canyon Destinations Price: From $84 per person Duration: About 15 to 16 hours

A South Rim bus tour offers a quieter, more historic sightseeing experience. The South Rim is one of the most popular parts of Grand Canyon National Park . Guests can see the wide variety of flora and fauna native to the area. This bus tour – which takes around four hours to get to the South Rim's Mather Point from Vegas – gives visitors the opportunity to walk along Bright Angel Trail; it leads to Bright Angel Lodge, located in the Village Historic District.

You can also stock up on snacks and souvenirs at the Grand Canyon Visitor Center, since the tour only includes a box lunch and water. Or, upgrade your excursion with the guided walking tour add-on. Another historic part of the tour is the scenic drive along the famous Route 66, one of the first U.S. highways.

Local tip: Located farther from Vegas, the South Rim is cooler, with rainy and snowy winters, and more moderate temperatures in spring, summer and fall.

The professional comedian who doubles as tour guide makes for an even more fun experience.

Local tip: The West Rim is typically less crowded than the South Rim, so it may be a good option for your Grand Canyon destination if you're hoping to avoid all the tourist congestion.

Best for Families: Grand Canyon South Rim Bus Tour

A couple with a young child sitting on a rock and looking out at the Grand Canyon.

Not only will youngsters marvel at the beauty of the canyon, but they can also have an interactive experience at the IMAX theater, which plays a film that takes you into the center of the canyon. Local tip: The South Rim is divided into different viewpoint areas that visitors can explore. One of the most popular viewpoints is Hermit Road, which is ideal for families with children.

Grand Canyon Tours & Things to Do

How much time do you have to spend visiting the grand canyon.

If you only have a few hours to see the Grand Canyon, consider booking an air or helicopter tour. Quick airplane tours are widely available Grand Canyon (Tusayan) Airport. Because airplane tours can accommodate 6-8 passengers at a time, they tend to be relatively affordable and are a prime way to see the Grand Canyon in a short amount of time. These short, non-landing air tours provide aerial views only, flying over the Grand Canyon, Painted Desert and the Kaibab Plateau on a circuit from the South to the North Rim and back.

Similarly, helicopter tours are an excellent choice for those short on time. These tours range in duration and price, but there is something for almost every pocketbook and schedule. If you only have a few hours, you will want to choose a helicopter tour that takes off from the South Rim airport near Tusayan, and opt for a 25-to 45-minute tour. Either way, you'll marvel at the pilot's expert narration, personalized attention, and stunning aerial views, a perspective you can only get from a helicopter or airplane.

Half-day tours to the Grand Canyon are widely available from Las Vegas to the West Rim. With 5–6 hours to spend, you can travel by airplane or helicopter, landing at the West Rim and either step off the aircraft to ride the hop-on-hop-off shuttle around Grand Canyon West, including the Grand Canyon Skywalk and Guano Point, or take a helicopter below the Rim landing on the Canyon floor for a champagne picnic.

With a full day to spend visiting the Grand Canyon, the array of options opens up as wide as the Canyon itself. Choose from ground tours from Las Vegas, Flagstaff or Sedona or air/ground combination tours from Las Vegas or Phoenix. Typically, full day tours pickup from your departure city hotel in a comfortable van, bus or coach and offer visitors anywhere from 11 to 16 hours to travel in stress-free comfort, stopping at all the best viewpoints and attractions along the way.

Combination tours, like airplane and helicopter tours that fly out from Las Vegas, land at either the West Rim or the South Rim. At Grand Canyon West, you can spend the rest of the full day utilizing the hop-on-hop-off shuttle to tour Eagle Point, the Grand Canyon Skywalk, Guano Point and Grand Canyon West Ranch. With extra time to spare, fill your itinerary with horseback riding along the rim, a helicopter landing on the floor of the Canyon, or a boat ride on the Colorado River. Full-day tours like this generally last 11–13 hours.

If your combo tour is headed for the South Rim, you'll land in Tusayan at the Grand Canyon Airport, then be whisked away in a touring van to visit the National Park. With several hours dedicated to allowing leisurely visits to all the viewpoints around Grand Canyon Village, you'll get to see "the real Grand Canyon" without feeling rushed or shortchanged.

One of the most popular full day tours is the Grand Canyon Railway. Depart the train depot in Williams in the morning, and enjoy an outstanding ride right to the South Rim. Take several hours to explore Grand Canyon Village and its many scenic overlooks, visitor centers, gift shops, and museums before climbing aboard the train for a late-afternoon return trip to Williams.

If heart-pounding whitewater action is your thing, but you don't have a week to spend going down the Colorado River, check out 1-day river rafting from Peach Springs to Grand Canyon West. The Hualapai River Runners are the exclusive provider of 1-day white river rafting at the Grand Canyon, and you can book these tours through a tour broker like Rivers and Oceans, or directly with the Hualapai tribe. Expect to spend the night before at the Hualapai Lodge in Peach Springs, and be on the river from dawn 'til dusk. A shuttle will take you back to Peach Springs at the close of the day.

Finally, if you're starting from Phoenix, you'll need a full day to take a ground tour to the South Rim. Choose a tour that picks up at your Phoenix area hotel in the early morning, and enjoy a relaxing day of expert narration, scenic views and fully guided fun. Plan on about 16 hours start to finish, with about 9 hours of driving round trip.

Multi-day ground tours to the Grand Canyon are the ideal solution for visitors who do not want to drive themselves but want to see as much of the Grand Canyon, Sedona, Las Vegas and/or Phoenix as possible. These tours also have the added bonus of building in Grand Canyon-area lodging to your trip itinerary, which makes the planning process that much easier. Check out multi-day trips that start in Las Vegas, touring the Grand Canyon and Sedona and ending in Phoenix, or vice versa. There are also longer tours that actually hit 8 National Parks and monuments of the Grand Circle, spanning thousands of miles of Arizona and Utah over a several-night excursion.

Another common type of multi-night Grand Canyon adventure is the Colorado River whitewater rafting trip. Choose from the Upper Canyon or Lower Canyon, spending 3–7 days on the river, or really go for the gusto and spend a couple of weeks rafting the entire length of the Canyon. These trips are typically once-in-a-lifetime adventures, need to be booked about a year in advance and require a significant budget, but the payoff is a memorable experience of epic proportions.

Finally, outdoor enthusiasts may want to hook up with a professional backpacking guide to lead them on a multi-night hiking trip down into the Grand Canyon. The benefit of doing a backpacking trip with a pro is that all of the equipment, meal planning and logistics are taken care of for you. If you're doing a rim-to-rim trip, the guides will arrange one-way transportation back to your starting point, and professionals also manage the entire backcountry permit process.

Step aboard Grand Canyon Railway for a trip to the Majestic Grand Canyon you’ll never forget. Travel in a classic streamliner-era coach that gets you to the canyon and back with style and grace. Enjoy comfortable bench-style seating in the air-conditioned 1950’s-era passenger cars as the train makes it’s way across the beautiful Northern Arizona countryside. The train offers kaleidoscopic views of the San Francisco Peaks and rolls through valleys adorned in wild flowers, dense pine forest, high desert plains and small canyons.

The excitement begins at the historic 1908 Williams Depot. Before the train departs you can enjoy a wild west shootout featuring the Cataract Creek Gang in an outdoor theater, visit the free railroad museum or browse through the gift shops.

On hearing the train whistle pierce the fresh morning air, passengers board the vintage streamliner to begin their journey. Uniformed coach attendants provide you with white-gloved courtesy and service. Aboard the train, enjoy the tunes of strolling musicians who conduct sing-a-longs, an old west train robbery and the antics of western characters as they recreate train travel as it was in the early 1900’s.

Everything to Know Before Visiting Grand Canyon National Park

Grand Canyon National Park is a must-visit — here's what you need to know before you go.

Evie Carrick is a writer and editor who’s lived in five countries and visited well over 50. She now splits her time between Colorado and Paris, ensuring she doesn't have to live without skiing or L'As du Fallafel.

grand canyon tour and travel company

Know Before You Go

Best time to visit, how to get there, best things to do, places to stay, places to eat.

Lauren Breedlove/Travel + Leisure

There are few natural wonders that can challenge the great jaw-dropping size and beauty of the Grand Canyon. It is a mile deep and 10 miles across, showcasing an eye-catching array of layered red rock that reveals millions of years of geological history in a single glance. It is a wonder that is so bold, big, and beautiful that it marks planet Earth in a scar that can be seen from space.

To see the 277-mile canyon, you should visit Grand Canyon National Park in northern Arizona, a protected area that contains most of the canyon and the Colorado River that runs through it.

“The canyon landscape itself is the main draw for visitors from all over the world,” said Joelle Baird, a public affairs officer at Grand Canyon National Park, in an email interview with Travel + Leisure . She has lived and worked at the Grand Canyon for 12 years and says the landscape is special for many reasons.

“Many visitors are surprised by how high in elevation we are here (7,000 feet on the South Rim, 8,000 feet on the North Rim), so we have ponderosa pine and juniper/pinyon pine forests that encompass the high desert landscape as well.”

To provide you with a comprehensive guide to the park, we leaned into Baird’s expertise. After 12 years working in and along the canyon — as a biological science technician, preventative search and rescue ranger, and now a public affairs officer — she offers a wealth of inside knowledge. Below are her recommendations on everything from when to visit to where to hike.

Don Eim/Travel + Leisure

Grand Canyon National Park straddles the canyon itself and is broken into two sections: the South Rim and the North Rim.

Most people see the canyon from the South Rim, which is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, year-round and is home to the main Grand Canyon Visitor Center. The South Rim also has a second visitor center, Verkamp's Visitor Center, which focuses on the people who have lived along the canyon and showcases what it was like to live and work in the park. To get to the South Rim, you can enter at the South Entrance near Tusayan, Arizona or the East Entrance (Desert View) near Cameron, Arizona. Most people use the South Entrance.

“I would recommend visiting the South Rim for at least a few days if it's your first trip to the canyon. The South Rim has a lot of visitor services including hotels, restaurants, and ranger programming that is definitely worth checking out,” said Baird.

Meanwhile, the North Rim near the Arizona-Utah border is quiet and remote, and completely closed to visitors between Dec. 1 and May 14. It is quiet and beautiful on the North Rim, but it also has fewer services, even in the summer. The North Rim Visitor Center and Park Store is open from May 15 to Oct. 15.

If you want to visit both rims, you have to take a five-hour drive around the canyon. For that reason, most visitors choose to just visit one of the canyon’s rims.

To enter the park from any entrance, you’ll have to pay $35 per day, per vehicle, or purchase the $70 annual park pass. Grand Canyon National Park does not require reservations or time-entry passes to enter the park.

Most people visit Grand Canyon National Park between late May and early September. June, July, and August tend to be the busiest months. The quieter “shoulder seasons” run from March to May and September to October, while the low season runs November to March.

The South Rim, which is open year-round and is easier to get to, is always busier than the North Rim of the canyon, which is only open between May 15 and Oct. 15, weather dependent. If you’re planning to visit the South Rim over school holidays, summer break, or fall weekends, you should expect long lines, limited parking, and crowded viewpoints. To lessen wait times, you can buy your park pass in advance in Tusayan, the South Entrance gateway town; enter the park at the less-busy East Entrance; or take the Grand Canyon Railway from Williams, Arizona to the South Rim.

According to Baird, if you don’t need to visit the North Rim, winter can be an extra-special (and quiet) time at the South Rim. “As a resident of Grand Canyon, my favorite time is the winter! We typically receive low visitation and many of the popular viewpoints are uncrowded. It is a much quieter time and the contrast between the red rocks of the canyon and snow on the rim is a magical sight.”

The best time to see and photograph the Grand Canyon is typically at sunrise and sunset . Sunrise is between 5:11 and 7:40 a.m., depending on the season, while sunset fluctuates between 5:14 and  7:49 p.m.

The closest town to the South Rim is Williams, Arizona, which is a direct one-hour-and-20-minute drive on Route 64. From the larger city of Flagstaff, the South Rim is one hour and 45 minutes via Route 180. Phoenix is the closest major city (and airport) and is three hours and 45 minutes away by car. Las Vegas is around four hours and 45 minutes from the South Rim.

Once you’re in the South Rim “village,” there are several free shuttle buses that take you to various viewpoints, sites, and trailheads around the rim. Some routes run year-round, while others are seasonal. Check the schedule on the website .

You can also get to the South Rim on the Grand Canyon Railway , which departs from Williams, Arizona. By taking the train, you can avoid entrance line waits and parking headaches.

The North Rim, which is typically open between May 15 and Oct. 15, is around two hours south of Jacob Lake, Arizona on Highway 67. Las Vegas, which is over 5 hours away by car, is the closest major city and airport to the North Rim. And as we previously mentioned, driving between the two rims takes a full five hours.

Scenic Drives

One of the best ways to experience the size and beauty of the canyon is to drive the Desert View Drive along the South Rim. The road takes off near the South Rim village and continues along the canyon rim for 23 miles, passing six viewpoints and a Tusayan Pueblo site. A shuttle bus also runs along this route.

Hermit Road (formerly West Rim Drive) runs in the opposite direction of Desert View Drive on the South Rim and offers a completely different look at the canyon (with nine viewpoints). Hermit Road is closed to private cars from March 1 to Nov. 30. During that time, there is a free shuttle bus that runs along the road.

On the North Rim, you can drive between Cape Royal and Point Imperial on a scenic road with plenty of pullouts and viewpoints, including Walhalla Overlook and Roosevelt Point. Keep in mind the North Rim and its scenic roads are closed in the winter.

If you’re interested in going down inside the canyon, a raft trip is a must. There are full and half-day river trips that can be arranged through lodging accommodations on the South Rim, along with multi-day excursions down the Colorado River (for the latter, you need to secure a permit in advance).

Road Biking

On the South Rim, there are around 13 miles of bike-friendly road and greenway trail (including Hermit Road, formerly known as West Rim Drive). The shuttle buses have bike racks so you can bike out and ride the bus back. There are regular and e-bike rentals available from the Bright Angel Bicycles shop adjacent to the Grand Canyon Visitor Center on the South Rim.

Cultural Demonstrations

There are ongoing cultural demonstrations at the Grand Canyon Visitor Center on the South Rim. These free demonstrations allow park visitors to meet members of the area’s 11 Indigenous groups and watch how traditional and modern crafts are made.

Best Hikes

Canyon rim trail.

This flat route runs right along the rim of the canyon and is a great introduction to the park. It starts at the visitor center at the South Rim and follows the edge of the canyon, eventually running alongside Hermit Road, which has nine exceptional overlooks.

Trail of Time

The Grand Canyon has a long and beautiful geological history, and it’s showcased along the Trail of Time, which runs almost three miles round-trip along the canyon rim between the Yavapai Museum of Geology and Verkamps Visitor Center on the South Rim. Each meter walked on the timeline trail signifies one million years of Grand Canyon's geologic history, and there are samples of rock and exhibits that explain how the Grand Canyon was formed.

South Kaibab Trail

Baird says, “Day hikes into the canyon should definitely be on your list if it's your first time.” She recommends hiking along the South Rim’s South Kaibab Trail to Cedar Ridge (three miles round-trip) or Skeleton Point (six miles round-trip). Just keep in mind, the trail descends into the canyon and is extremely steep. The national park notes that “the openness of this trail lends itself to extreme heat during the summer months and little to no protection from passing storms.”

Bright Angel Trail

Another in-canyon hike on the South Rim that Baird recommends is the Bright Angel Trail to the 1.5- mile rest house or the three-mile rest house. This route follows in the footsteps of the canyon's Indigenous people, miners, and early tourists.

Transept Trail

This route on the North Rim follows the canyon rim from the Grand Canyon Lodge to the North Rim Campground. The canyon views are plentiful on this three-mile round-trip hike.

North Kaibab Trail

This is the only maintained trail that goes into the canyon from the North Rim. You can go as far as you want, with the Coconino Overlook and Supai Tunnel just 1.5 miles and four miles round-trip, respectively. The North Kaibab Trail goes all the way from the rim to the river at the bottom of the canyon, but the park warns that “Under no circumstances should you attempt to hike from the rim to the river and back in one day” as the route is 28 miles round-trip with a steep 6,000-foot descent.

Hotels and Lodges

On the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, there are seven year-round lodging options. Five are in the historic district and are bookable online at grandcanyonlodges.com . The other two are located on Market Plaza near the visitor center and can be booked on visitgrandcanyon.com .

Standouts include El Tovar Lodge in the historic district, which is located directly on the rim and is a National Historic Landmark. El Tovar has hosted park visitors like Theodore Roosevelt, Albert Einstein, and Oprah Winfrey. Maswik Lodge South just opened in June 2022 for visitors looking for a modern take on traditional national park lodging. And Yavapai Lodge on the Market Plaza is notable because it has clean, simple rooms and is pet friendly.

There are also plenty of places to stay outside the park near the South Rim, including the Grand Canyon Railway & Hotel in Williams, Arizona where the train to the Grand Canyon departs from. Baird notes that “staying close to the park during your visit ensures you can make sunrise and sunset times more convenient.”

On the North Rim, the only lodge within the park is the Grand Canyon Lodge , which fills quickly during the North Rim’s opening window of May 15 to Oct. 15.

Campgrounds

There are four campgrounds along the South Rim, including the year-round Mather Campground for tent camping and Trailer Village for RVs. The South Rim also has two seasonal campgrounds that open for the spring, summer, and fall: Desert View near the East Entrance and Ten-X Campground.

There are also two seasonal campgrounds on the North Rim of the canyon, the North Rim Campground and the DeMotte Campground. Neither have hookups.

On the South Rim, there’s everything from grab-and-go lunch options (check out the Bright Angel Bicycle Rental and Café ) to full-service dining at places like the Arizona Steakhouse in the Bright Angel Lodge and the El Tovar Dining Room and lounge inside the El Tovar Lodge. You can also pick up groceries at the Canyon Village Market general store.

When the North Rim is open, you’ll find a general store adjacent to the campground as well as a saloon, deli, and full-service dining room in the Grand Canyon Lodge.

8 Best Grand Canyon Hiking Tour Companies

Take a gander at the magnificent painted landscape of Grand Canyon, and you’ll quickly see why it’s one of the greatest natural wonders in the world.

You can’t beat the views from atop Grand Canyon , but you’re missing half the fun if you don’t venture below the rim. Hiking down South Rim trails like South Kaibab and Bright Angel — some of the most breathtaking trails in the country — is the best way to get an up-close look at the canyon’s unique rock formations, fossils, wildlife, flora, and cultural history.

That said, Grand Canyon is so vast that it can be intimidating to plan a good hiking trip on your own — especially when you’re thinking about a multi-day trip.

You’ll need to have advance permits set up to camp below rim, and if you’re venturing beyond the corridor trails means you’ll need to know the locations of springs and potholes to get your water. The details of planning a Grand Canyon backpacking trip are many.

Ignoring these details can lead to consequences ranging from fines if caught camping illegally all the way to death if you can’t find water on a hot canyon day.

Fortunately, there are a number of professional outfitters who offer guided hiking tours of Grand Canyon. These companies handle all of the planning and logistics so you can just focus on having a good time. They’ll provide a professional guide to lead the way, keep you safe, and educate you on your surroundings along the journey.

Whether you’re looking for an afternoon jaunt at the South Rim, a full-day excursion at the North Rim, or a week-long tour from rim to rim, we’ve got you covered. Here’s a list of the top outfitters who offer hiking tours at Grand Canyon, along with a brief overview of the day hikes and multi-day tours that they offer.

When booking a hiking tour with Wildland Trekking, you’re guaranteed a small group of 5-12 hikers, exceptional certified guides, top of the line gear, and fresh, delicious meals. Their hiking tours are all-inclusive, so you don’t have to worry about a thing with these guys.

Wildland Trekking offers 5 options (plus a Grand Canyon-Sedona combo) for their day hikes at Grand Canyon . Each comes with trail snacks, a picnic lunch, a backpack, trekking poles, and of course, a professional guide to take you below the rim.

For the best views, stick with their most popular hike — the South Kaibab Tour . You’ll enjoy stunning views every step of the journey as you hike along an exposed ridge into the depths of Grand Canyon, traversing one of the most photographed trails in the country.

For a full-day adventure with round-trip pickup from Flagstaff and Sedona, try the Grand Canyon Discovery Tour . You’ll get to experience a full day at the South Rim, including a hike along the South Kaibab Trail and stops at nearby viewpoints. Time permitting, the tour may conclude with a stop at Grand Canyon Village, a recommended museum, or the Desert View Watchtower (depending on the group’s preference).

Planning a family hiking trip? Book the Bright Angel Tour . Treading in the footsteps of the prehistoric Native Americans, you’ll follow an ancient trail through the Bright Angel Fault. It’s the easiest trail that descends far below the rim, with multiple turnaround points if you need to shorten the journey.

Are you a fan of the old west? Check out the Grandview Trail Tour . Following an ancient trail that was rebuilt in 1892 to access the Last Chance Copper Mine, you’ll pass by mining relics on the way to viewpoints with far-reaching vistas and magnificent Grand Canyon scenery.

Finally, for those who are seeking the most remote guided tour, we recommend the Tanner Trail Tour . It’s a serious day hike that descends 2-3 miles along an old mining trail that was once part of the Horse Thief Trail. In return for a challenging hike, you’ll enjoy quintessential Grand Canyon views without the crowds.

Multi-Day Hiking Tours

If you’re looking for an authentic multi-day camping experience , check out the North Rim Basecamp Tour or the South Rim Basecamp Tour . The former takes you to remote areas with fantastic views, where you’ll enjoy relative solitude with about 10% of the foot traffic that the South Rim sees.

The latter features picturesque views, fossils, geologic phenomena, Native American history, mining ruins, and dripping desert oases, with access to showers and comfortable camping facilities.

For the glamping crowd, Wildland Trekking organizes three multi-day tours that include lodging .

The Grand Circuit is their most popular multi-day hiking tour, letting you experience both rims and Lee’s Ferry on a five-day adventure.

If you’re short on time, check out the Phantom Ranch Tour , available in 2-day and 3-day itineraries. Both family-friendly trips feature backcountry lodging at the historic Phantom Ranch and pack mules to carry your personal items. The return journey follows the popular Bright Angel Trail past Indian Gardens.

Looking to hit the Grand Canyon highlight reel? Try the Best of Grand Canyon Tour . In addition to challenging day hikes that take you halfway down the canyon, you’ll visit the best Grand Canyon museums and visitor attractions, including dinner at the famous El Tovar Hotel.

The Classic Phantom Ranch Hiking Trip provides the perfect introduction to one of the world’s most spectacular natural wonders. You’ll take the South Kaibab Trail to Phantom Ranch, the only lodge at the bottom of Grand Canyon. After spending two nights at the lodge, you’ll return on the Bright Angel Trail. The standard trip is four days, or you can opt for the shorter 3-Day Phantom Ranch Hiking Trip .

Looking for a full rim-to-rim experience? AOA offers 3-day and 5-day rim-to-rim tours , both featuring a mix of camping and lodging at Phantom Ranch. There’s also the Classic 5-Day Grand Canyon Hiking Tour , delivering a highlight reel of trails and viewpoints as you visit the South and North Rims and camp under the stars along the way.

If you’d rather focus on one location than hike from rim-to-rim, consider the 3-Day South Rim Tour or the Four-Day North Rim Tour . You’ll find these are significantly more affordable, as you’ll be spending the night at a basecamp instead of glamping at Phantom Ranch.

Finally, there’s the Grand Canyon Lodge Custom Adventure . Offering three and four-day itineraries, these custom hiking tours include lodging at a historic park lodge — coveted accommodations that often book months or even years in advance. It’s a little pricey, but the chance to stay in a Grand Canyon lodge is a special, once in a lifetime experience.

Hiking the Grand Canyon: What to know

On a visit to the Grand Canyon in 1903, Theodore Roosevelt remarked, “The ages have been at work on it, and man can only mar it. What you can do is to keep it for your children, your children’s children and for all who come after you as one of the great sights which every American, if he can travel at all, should see.”

Five years later as president, Roosevelt would declare it a national monument. In 1919, it was officially designated a national park.

Scott Cundy, co-founder of Wildland Trekking, an outfit that has provided Grand Canyon guided hikes and tours for nearly 20 years, couldn’t agree more.

“It is awe-inspiring,” he said.

Carving through parts of Nevada, Arizona and Utah, the canyon, with the Colorado River at its core, covers 1,904 square miles — larger than Rhode Island. This impressive geological marvel averages one mile in depth and 10 miles wide, with a maximum width of 18 miles.

From breaking news to special features and documentaries, the NewsdayTV team is covering the issues that matter to you.

By clicking Sign up, you agree to our privacy policy .

For first-time Grand Canyon hikers, the best place to start is the South Rim in northern Arizona, Cundy said.

“Peek over the edge and it’s nearly 5,000 feet down to the river,” he said. “The views are even better than the hype.”

Cundy noted that the high elevation may be more than most East Coast visitors are used to. Hikers may tire more easily than at home because of the elevation — the North and South rims are 8,000 and 7,000 feet above sea level, respectively. Also, hikers should carry at least three liters of drinking water on trails and a few sweet-and-salty snacks. And even when it’s cool at the top of the rim, it gets hotter as you descend into the canyon. Cundy advised hikers to take their time, wear a wide-brimmed hat and stop to rest as needed.

According to Joelle Baird, a public affairs officer with the National Park Service, season matters when it comes to getting the most from your visit.

“The winter is least crowded and a great time to go,” Baird said. “Spring and fall are great weather-wise but tend to be more crowded. Summer gets hot inside the canyon and is also the peak time.”

She advised visitors to plan their visit at least three months in advance — and possibly even earlier — for the best experience. “The nicest rooms overlooking the canyon rim can book out a year ahead,” she said.

PLAN YOUR TRIP

While it is possible to plan a Grand Canyon trip on your own, working with a hiking or touring company has advantages. Most tours are all-inclusive with local transportation, meals, gear, permits and professional guides covered. Consider Wildland Trekking, wildlandtrekking.com ; or Four Season Guides, FSGuides.com .

The National Park Service’s Grand Canyon website, nps.gov/grca/index.htm , is also a helpful resource for information about the park.

Park entry is $35/vehicle for a seven-day pass. Joelle Baird suggests paying $80 for an inter-agency annual pass, which offers a year’s worth of access to all national parks. “Savings can be significant, for example, if visiting Grand Canyon, Zion and Arches National Parks on a western road trip,” she said.

Day hiking is free but for hiking or camping in the back country, you’ll need additional lottery-based permits ($10 per permit, plus a nightly charge of $12 per person.)

GETTING THERE

The closest airport is in Flagstaff, Arizona, but flights are limited. Visitors can also fly into Phoenix or Las Vegas.

WHAT TO BRING

“People often think this is a desert environment, but it starts as a mountain environment and you descend into a desert environment,” said Scott Cundy. He advises wearing layers, packing for rain and snow and bringing a backpack for gear and extra clothes. Also recommended are a headlamp or flashlight and, November through April, boot crampons to provide extra traction on snowy or frozen terrain.

Five Things to Know About the Ford Championship presented by KCC

Lindsey weaver-wright making first start in arizona since maternity leave, running half marathon.

  • Ford Championship
  • Tournament News

grand canyon tour and travel company

Just two events separate the LPGA Tour’s finest from the season’s first major, The Chevron Championship. The Ford Championship presented by KCC represents not only an opportunity for players to secure their spot in the field in the major championship but is also a chance for players to get their game in peak form ahead of the major season. And the game’s best are seizing the moment, with a stacked field poised to compete at Seville Golf and Country Club for a $2.25 million purse. Here’s a closer look at what you need to know about the first edition of the Ford Championship.

The LPGA Returns to Arizona

This week’s stop in Arizona is far from the first time the LPGA Tour has competed in the Grand Canyon State, where the Tour has a long and storied history that dates back to its inception in 1950. And while the Tour has made more than 70 visits to the state, what’s new this season is the trip to Seville Golf and Country Club, which is hosting the inaugural playing of the Ford Championship. The course opened in 2000 and is located roughly 45 minutes southeast of downtown Phoenix, featuring an 18-hole layout designed by architect Gary Panks. The course will play to a par of 72 at 6,734 yards and has the potential for thrilling, final-round drama with an island green on its 17th hole. Canadian and longtime LPGA Tour member Alena Sharp is a member of the club.

An impressive field of 144 players, including the top five in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings, is slated to compete at the Ford Championship, where Nelly Korda, who returned to the top of the world rankings with her victory last week in California, headlines the field. She unseated fellow American, Lilia Vu, at the top of the rankings as the two-time major champion has had a challenging start to the 2024 season. Through her first five starts of the year, Vu has recorded just one top-10 finish and is coming off a tie for 37th last week at Palos Verdes Golf Club. She’s joined in the field by top-ranked stars Celine Boutier, Ruoning Yin and Minjee Lee. Rose Zhang is also in the field for the second straight week after finishing in a tie for 22nd in California, and Lexi Thompson is slated to tee it up in Arizona after missing the cut last week.

Ryann O’Toole, who lost in a playoff to Korda on Sunday, will be looking to build on the momentum she found in her home state after picking up her first career runner-up finish on the LPGA Tour. Alison Lee, who narrowly missed out on getting into the playoff with O’Toole and Korda, settled for a tie for third for her fifth top-three finish in her last six worldwide starts dating back to 2023. Her close call on Sunday was her 23rd career top-10 result, and Lee will continue working towards that first LPGA title when she competes this week in Arizona.

Nelly Back on Top

With a health scare and injury well in the rearview mirror, Nelly Korda looks to be back to the winning ways that lifted her to the top of the women’s game in 2021. Korda picked up her second win in three starts this season on the LPGA Tour with her playoff victory on Sunday, which was her 10th career Tour title. With her wins at both the LPGA Drive On Championship and FIR HILLS SERI PAK Championship, Korda becomes the first multiple champion this season and an early front-runner for the season’s biggest honors, along with reascending to world No.1. It’s the sixth time since that breakout season in 2021 that she has held the No. 1 spot in the world, and as Korda tees it up this week in Arizona, she’ll be chasing a third consecutive victory, which would be a first for the 25-year old, who has been an LPGA Tour member since 2017.

Ko’s Chase Continues

The LPGA Tour Hall of Fame watch is back on as Lydia Ko is poised to compete in the Ford Championship presented by KCC. Ko, who is making her fifth start of the season, jumped into HOF-watch mode with her season-opening victory at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, which put her within one point of getting into the Hall. Ko, who has 26 of the necessary 27 points, has already come close to qualifying since her win in January as she suffered a playoff loss to Korda at the LPGA Drive On Championship, and after holding a share of the 54-hole lead at the Blue Bay LPGA, faded to a tie for fourth.

Kerr Returns

Lydia Ko isn’t the only player on Tour who is close to qualifying for the LPGA Tour Hall of Fame. Cristie Kerr has 20 career victories, the most recent of which came in 2017 and two of which are major titles, earning Kerr 22 points towards Hall of Fame qualification. At the Ford Championship, Kerr is making her season debut and is competing for the first time since the CPKC Women’s Open in August 2023. Kerr, who is a mother of two, also manages her own wine company, Kerr Cellars, both of which have kept her busy during her time away from the Tour.

The 6 Best Grand Canyon Bus Tours From Las Vegas

W hile the Strip is certainly one of Las Vegas' most famous features, it's not all the city has to offer.

We've rounded up the top options for Grand Canyon bus tours from Las Vegas, whether you seek an adventurous ride or a more tranquil sightseeing experience.

Best Overall: Grand Canyon West Rim Bus/Helicopter & Landing Tour with Optional Skywalk

Tour operator: Canyon Tours

Price: From $358 per person

Duration: About 10 hours

In the tribe's traditions, the Grand Canyon and the Colorado River are considered living, spiritual entities. When visiting Grand Canyon West, travelers are immersed in the rich culture and history of the Hualapai Nation.

Best West Rim Tour: Grand Canyon West Rim Bus Tour with Lunch, Hoover Dam Stop and Skywalk

Tour operator: Grand Canyon Destinations

Price: From $99 per person

Duration: About 11 hours

Price: From $84 per person

Duration: About 15 to 16 hours
