While there’s not much attraction in Bacolod, the city is a good base and entry point for exploring the top tourist attractions in Negros Occidental such as Mt.Kanlaon Natural Park, The Ruins, Silay, Campuestuhan Highlands, Lakawon Island, Carbin Reef, and Sipalay . THINGS TO DO IN BACOLOD

1.experience masskara festival, why is it one of the top things to do in bacolod.

Masskara Festival, the festival of smiles, is one of the biggest festivals in the Philippines, held every October in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental. The term “Masskara” was coined from the words “mass” (crowd) and “kara” (face), which literally means “Festival of Many Faces”. During the celebration, Bacolod exude an enchanted atmosphere as masked dancers fill the streets, dancing to the tunes of live music, and many events are organized in the city.

THINGS TO DO IN BACOLOD: MASSKARA FESTIVAL

Interestingly, Masskara Festival was founded sometime in 1980 and was first held back in October 19, 1980  to help ease the misery of the locals. A tragedy struck in the evening of April 22, 1980 when M/S Don Juan, a ferry carrying about 1,000 passengers, most of them are Negrense, collided with M/T Tacloban City tanker en route to Bacolod from Manila.  The ferry instantly sunk off shore Mindoro, killing about 750 passengers.

2. FEAST ON CHICKEN INASAL

Why is it one of the best things to do in bacolod.

Mention Bacolod food and chicken inasal (grilled chicken) will come to mind. Chicken inasal is Bacolod’s most famous local delicacy known for its smoky taste and yellowish look.  There are several eateries and restaurants in Bacolod serving chicken inasal , but the best place to go is Manokan Country .  It is said that back in the 80’s, the inasal food stalls where just scattered on the sidewalks, until the local government brought them organized them to create what is known as Manokan Country. You can choose from several restaurants serving chicken inasal here.

3. RELAX AT THE CAPITOL BUILDING AND LAGOON

Why is it one of the top bacolod tourist spots.

Built in 1927 and completed 6 years after, the Capitol Building in Bacolod, which is the official seat of the governor of the province, exhibits the Beaux-Arts architectural design that is inspired by French Neocolonialism.  Based on anecdotes ,the city planner Daniel Burnham, one of the celebrated American architects who studied in Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris visited the Philippines upon the invitation of the then Governor General William Cameron Forbes to visit the Philippines.  He recommended William Parsons as consulting architect, who structured the architectural office of the Bureau of Public Works, composed of American and Filipino architects including  Juan Nakpil, Tomas Bautista Mapua, and Juan de Guzman Arellano who implemented the plan.  The Capitol Building was declared as National Historical Landmark in 1994.

things to do in Bacolod: NEGROS CAPITOL AND LAGOON

The Capitol Building is shaped like the letter E, and the neck-swivelling façade is fringed by towering, massive colonnades. The sculptures at the Capitol Building are believed to be designed by the works of Guillermo Tolentino, the National Artist for Sculpture.

Near the man-made lagoon at the Capitol Grounds, you’ll notice striking statues painted in gold. The carabao (water buffalo) and a woman is attributed to Italian sculpture Frances Riccardo Monti, while the man riding a female carabao was made by Negrense artist Felix Garzon.

There’s also a memorial for the war veterans at the heart of the Capitol Ground.

4. VISIT SAN SEBASTIAN CHURCH

Why is a famous bacolod tourist spot.

The San Sebastian Cathedral in Bacolod city was originally constructed in 1825 and was renovated towards the end of the century. The 2 bell towers (the original wooden church has 1 bell tower only) were built in 1885 and eventually the bells were relocated to the churchyard for the preservation.  In 1933, San Sebastian Church was declared a cathedral when Bacolod was converted into a diocese.

5.TRY CANSI

things to do in bacolod: cansi

Why is it one of the best Bacolod food?

Another must-try Negrense dish that you can find in Bacolod is the cansi (kansi), a traditional comfort food made of boiled bone-in beef shank with beef chunks and bone marrow and made sour by batuan fruit. The best place to eat cansi in Bacolod is at Sharyn’s Cansi House that is included in the World’s Top 50 Street Food Masters  chosen by panel of industry experts during the World Street Food Congress (WSFC).  The last time I ate here, the cansi served to me is good for 2-3 persons, about ₱290 ($6)  if I remember it correctly.

6. EXPERIENCE PIAYA MAKING

Piaya is a famous Negros delicacy that is made of flat unleavened bread filled with muscovado and glucose syrup.  It is believed that piaya was created to promote the sugar industry of Negros.

Bong bongs is one of the oldest bakers of piaya.  Most tourists who want to take home Bacolod and Negros local delicacies head to Bong Bongs.  But did you know that they also offer a workshop on how to make a piaya?  You can book in advance through their Facebook page to secure a slot, and it only costs  ₱60 per person (minimum 15 pax, maximum 50 pax).  The Bong Bongs piaya workshop is available from Mondays to Saturdays (closed on Sundays).

Whenever I am in Bacolod, I always make it a point to drop by at Calea, a haven for cakes and pastries.  Calea is the most popular dessert café in Bacolod and it’s not surprising since they serve really delicious cakes. If you can’t decide what to eat, try their best-seller – the chocolate mud pie.  Calea also has a pretty nice ambience, perfect for sipping a cup of coffee while enjoying a bite of your favorite pastry.

Back in area in February 20, 1981, Pope John Paul II visited Bacolod City and celebrated a mass near BREDCO (Bacolod Real Estate Development Corporation), a reclamation area in the city. The John Paul II Tower is a pilgrimage center, erected near the aforementioned site to commemorate that important event. The soaring building dedicated to the late Pope John Paull II is composed of 8 floors and offers a great view of Bacolod City and Guimaras Strait. Displayed here are pictures, relics, and vestment he used during his visit.

The price for the paluto depends on the cooking style and ingredients used.   Here’s the usual paluto:

  •   Crabs – chili or steamed
  • Shrimps –  buttered garlic, steamed, or chili (spicy-garlic)
  • Squid – adobo, calamares
  • Scallops – buttered garlic, grilled
  • Fish – grilled, sizzling, soup

BACOLOD SIDE TRIPS

Here’s a list of top tourist spots in Negros Occidental that can be done as a day trip from Bacolod city.

12. THE RUINS

Why is it one of the top places to see near bacolod.

Mention Bacolod and The Ruins will immediately come to mind.  But this famous attraction is actually located in Talisay, not Bacolod.

Based on anecdotes, The Ruins was built as a reminder of great love. Don Mariano Ledesma Lacson, a sugar baron from Talisay, Negros Occidental fell in love with Maria Braga, a Portuguese from Macau.  They eventually got married, settled in Negros, and had 10 children. When Maria got pregnant with her 11 th child, she slipped in their bathroom and bled heavily. She couldn’t stand to go to the physician, so his husband had to request for a physician who lives in Silay.  It took 4 days for the physician to arrive by horse-drawn carriage and sadly, Maria and the child already passed away. Mariano was broken-hearted, he then decided to build an Italian-inspired mansion dedicated to his wife.  Unfortunately, during the World War II, the guerillas burned down the beautiful mansion to prevent the Japanese soldiers from using it as a military headquarters.   The frame of the mansion survived,  hence the name, like a testament of one great love that stood the test of time.

Address: Talisay, Bacolod

2.Cross the high-way and tale the jeepney en route to Libertad. Fare is ₱8 ($0.16) per person.

13.CAMPUESTUHAN HIGHLANDS

Why is it one of the best places to visit near bacolod.

One of the popular resorts near Bacolod is Campuestuhan Highland Resort, situated in Talisay, Negros Occidental. This sprawling family-friendly resort was originally planned as a retirement home of Ricardo and Nina Tan, but upon seeing the majestic view surrounding it, they changed the plan to what is now known as Campuestuhan Highland Resort.  Aside from the swimming, the resort also offers various activities like zipline, hamster wheel, sky bicycle, rope course, and even horseback riding.  Kids will also enjoy Campuestuhan Highland Resort because of the life-size statues of superheroes here such as Batman, Icredible Hulk, Thor, and Superman.

14.mambukal resort, why is it one of the top things to see in bacolod.

To get a true taste of nature, head to Mambukal Resort, about an hour away by local bus from Bacolod City. Mambukal Resort is a timeless nature resort  covering roughly 23.6 hectares of land at the foot of the mighty Mt.Kanlaon in Murcia, Negros Occidental.  It is the gateway to Mt.Kanlaon via the Wasay Trail.

Interestingly, Mambukal Resort was originally conceptualized by Kokichi Paul Ishawata, a Japanese architect, in 1927. This is why this place houses a Japanese-inspired bath house and a picnic garden.

Mambukal Resort is sprinkled with nature springs, jungle-clad mountains, and waterfalls.  The resort may seem old and forgotten, but once you take a leisurely walk around its surroundings, you’ll most likely appreciate the forest surrounding it.

If you are adventurous enough, you can hike the 7 waterfalls inside the confines of Mambukal Resort.  But if you have limited time like us, you can rent a motorbike (with driver) to the jumping off point if the 1st and 2 nd waterfall. If I remember it correctly I think I paid  ₱50 one way.  Then at the start of the trail, you can hire a guide for your security and to avoid getting lost.   It’s an easy hike to reach the 1 st waterfall from the jumping off point, you can also do the 2 nd waterfall in Mambukal Resort.

BACOLOD THINGS TO DO: SILAY

Why is it one of the top things to do near Bacolod?

Silay City in Negros Occidental has a timeless appeal, once dubbed as the “Paris of Negros”, it takes pride as one of the largest sugar producers in the Philippines.  But what draws tourists here are the more or less 30 well-preserved age-old houses built during the Spanish colonial period declared as official heritage landmarks by the National Historical Commission.

16.lakawon island, why is it one of the top beaches near bacolod.

Lakawon Island is a pretty popular island and beach destination near Bacolod perfect for group and even solo travelers. It can be done as a day trip from Bacolod city, but to better enjoy its facilities and soak up the beach vibe here, best to stay overnight. 17.CARBIN REEF

Why is it one of the best beaches near bacolod.

Another rising beach destination accessible from Bacolod City is Carbin Reef.  It’s actually a napkin-shaped sandbar lapped by crystal clear denim blue water.   It has a powdery white sand peppered with makes-shift cottages. But its real gem is hidden underwater – a 200 hectare marine sanctuary, part of Sagay’s protected seascape.

19.CHURCH OF THE ANGRY CHRIST

Situated in Victorias City in Negros Occidental, the St. Joseph the Worker Chapel (Church of the Angry Christ) features unique artistry and imagery of Jesus and the saints. Constructed 5 years after the World War II, it is hailed an Important Cultural Property of the Philippines. The structural design of this distinctive church  was created by Czech architect Antonin Raymond, who made sure that the building can withstand earthquakes.

The Church of the Angry Christ is owned by the wealthy sugar baron family – Osssorio Family, that is why it is sitting inside the confines of a sugar milling complex.  What makes this church unique is the depiction of Jesus Christ, instead of showing a compassionate image, he is shown here as angry. The rare mural was created by a Filipino born-artist Alfonso Ossorio, known for his surrealist works.

Meanwhile, the beautiful mosaics inside the church are made by Belgian Adelaide de Bethune. The brass plates in the pulpit and the baptistry designed by Bethune was made by Arcadio Anore.  The Filipino-looking wooden sculptures of saints, Mary and Joseph, and the images of the Stations of the Cross were created by Benjamin Valenciano. Interestingly, the brown skin of the Filipinized version of the religious themes were made of glass from beer bottles.

How to get to the Angry Christ Church:

1.From Bacolod City, ride a bus to Manapla.

2.Alight at Victorias Milling Company in Victorias City.

3.Take a tricycle to the Saint Joseph Church inside the Victorias Milling Company.

P.S. Apologies, my old hard drive  where the photos of the church is stored is defective so I can’t show you how it looks. But the church is worth checking.

Sipalay was once a local secret, but it’s slowly getting the attention that it deserves.  Getting here may be more than the adventure you bargained for, but it’s well worth it. Sipalay is sprinkled with gorgeous forest-fringed islets that beckon repeat visits.  For further details, do read my Sipalay blog through the link below.

7 AM – 8:30 AM – BACOLOD PUBLIC PLAZA, BANDSTAND, SAN SEBASTIAN CATHEDRAL

Breakfast at your Hotel. If you booked a budget hotel which does not provide free breakfast, you need not worry because there are many restaurants and fast-food chains in Bacolod City.

Let’s start our Bacolod Tour at the Bacolod Public Plaza. Along this area are many fast-food chains wherein you can have your morning coffee or breakfast.

At the center of Bacolod Public Plaza, you will find the bandstand which was constructed in 1926 and inaugurated in 1927.

Right beside the public plaza is the San Sebastian Cathedral, a late 19th-century church in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental. The present church structure construction began on 27 April 1876. For Catholic travelers, visiting this church would be a good start for an adventure.

After visiting the church, you can have your breakfast from any food establishments around the place. Please take note that most restaurants offering special delicacies are not yet open during this time.

8:30-9:30 AM – BACOLOD GALLERY OF MASKS

From the Public Plaza, let’s go and visit the southern part of the city.

Bacolod City is home to the world-renowned Masskara Festival which is held every October of each year. However, in Bacolod City, you can find a gallery which houses and sells authentic Bacolod Masks. It would be interesting to include this destination in your Bacolod Tour Itinerary.

Right in front of San Sebastian Cathedral are jeepneys plying towards Bacolod – South. Take the jeepney plying “Punta Taytay”. Ask the driver to drop you at Bongbong’s right in front of Metrodome. Please take note that taking a taxi will make your city tour swift and more comfortable.

From Metrodome (your landmark ) just walk a few meters towards the east. The Gallery of Bacolod Masks can be found 3rd gate from Metrodome. There’s signage at the gate with a picture of a mask, so you will surely find the place. The gallery is open 8:30 AM and closes at 5 PM (Mondays to Saturdays), but you can always call and make some appointments. There are no entrance fees, but they are selling some souvenirs ranging from the small mask magnets to the big wearable masks. You need not buy, you can just simply visit and see them doing mask making. If you have more time they also offer a “paint your mask” activity for a price of  P150. You can then bring home a small sample of Bacolod Masks which you had painted.

Owned and managed by Tomas Claridad Casiano, the Laguerta Vintage Glasses Museum houses a huge collection of different glasses of different sizes, shapes, and colors. The place does not accept walk-in guests. You need to call and make an appointment prior to your Bacolod Tour.

Riding a golf cart, you will see the beautiful garden as well as their organic farm. After the tour, you can have your organic meal at their restaurant.

12:00 – ONWARDS – OPTIONS OF VISITING MAMBUKAL OR CAMPUESTOHAN HIGHLAND RESORTS

If you would like to visit either Campuestohan or Mambukal, I suggest that you stay overnight at the place for you to fully enjoy the place and it would not be too tiring on your part. However, If you are renting a van for your Bacolod Tour, you can visit this place and go back to your hotel late in the afternoon.

Option 1. VISIT CAMPUESTOHAN

From May’s Organic Garden and Restaurant take a jeepney plying to Bacolod City ask the driver to drop you to the place nearest the public plaza. I suggest you take a taxi to go to Burgos Market as a jeepney will take more of your time.

From Burgos Market, take a jeep plying Alangilan. Any of these jeepneys will bring you to Campuestohan Highland Resort.

When going back to the city proper, tricycle outside the resort can bring you back to your hotel in Bacolod City.

Option 2. VISIT MAMBUKAL MOUNTAIN RESORT

From May’s Organic Garden and Resturant take a jeepney plying Bacolod City. Ask the driver to drop you at Bongbongs (where you came from earlier). From that place, take a jeepney to bring you to Libertad, or the fastest would be, take a pedicab (most of them are parking just beside Bongbongs) and ask them to bring you to Libertad Market at the terminal of Mambukal.

From Mambukal, Just take the jeepney parking outside the resort to bring you back to Bacolod City.

Coffee Shops are also available around the area should you wish to have your coffee after your dinner. For the young ones, the place is dotted with bars which you can hang out to enjoy the rest of the evening.

Bacolod City is generally peaceful, so be comfortable and enjoy your nightlife while having your vacation.

BACOLOD ITINERARY – DAY 2

8:00-8:30- GOING TO SILAY

Since you have already explored the southern part of Bacolod City, we can do a heritage tour on the second day of your visit to Bacolod City and Negros Occidental.

Silay City is known for its heritage houses and good food as well.

From your hotel take a taxi or jeepney to bring you to the South Terminal in Bata, Bacolod. From the terminal, take a jeepney going to Silay City and ask the driver to drop you to the Public Plaza.

8:30-9:30 – COFFEE AND VISIT TO SAN DIEGO PRO-CATHEDRAL

Right in front of the public plaza are typical old coffee shops (kapehan) selling nice coffee at very affordable prices. Silay is also known for their kakanin, so I’m sure these coffee shops have this kakanin. If you don’t like what they offer, you can walk a few meters to El Ideal, they open as early as 6:30 AM.

Within the area is the San Diego Pro-cathedral. If you are a Catholic you can pay a visit to this church.

Balay Negrense, one of the heritage houses in Silay City. This house is now a museum and is open for the public [ Bacolod Itinerary + Travel Guide | 3-Day Tour, Budget ]

9:30-11:00- SILAY CITY (HERITAGE TOUR)

After your church visit, drop by the Tourism Office (right in front of the City Hall) right within the plaza area and ask for guide maps for your walking tour.

Silay City is known as the Paris of Negros, wherein heritage houses owned by the sugar barons are still standing and well maintained. Some of these houses are open to the public while others are not. Of course it would be great to have a guide when doing a tour, however, if you are doing a DIY Tour, your map can already be a good help. If you are traveling alone, just hire a pedicab to bring you around. Of course, ask first for their price before hopping in.

11:00-12:00 MN -LUNCH AT BALARING

After the tour, you will surely want to feast on the food of Silay. So, I recommend that you visit  Barangay Balaring.

To reach the place, ask the pedicab driver to bring you to the tricycle terminal going to Balaring. Balaring offers a wide array of seafood through its various floating restaurants.

Must Read: EAT IN SILAY: BARANGAY BALARING

12:00 – 1:30 PM – COFFEE AT EL IDEAL

After your lunch, take a tricycle to bring you back to the city proper. Just try to negotiate with the driver to bring you straight to El Ideal.

El Ideal is one old Bakery in Silay City offering various delicacies that are popular among the tourists.

1:30-3:00 PM BACK TO BACOLOD, NEGROS SHOWROOM

Just outside the El Ideal, wait for a jeepney going to Bacolod. They will drop you somewhere in Bata. From that place, take another jeepney going to Libertad or Shopping. Any of these jeepneys will pass by Robinsons Place, Bacolod City.

At Robinson Place, you will find the Negros Showroom. The Negros Showroom showcases the best of Negros products. Various handicrafts ranging from furniture, decors, gifts and housewares, souvenirs and much more are found at the Showroom. Since this is already your second day, it would be best that you already buy some souvenirs or “pasalubong” for people back home.

After souvenir hunting, I’m sure you are already quite hungry. By this time so you can proceed to your next destination and have your coffee or taste various cakes and pastries famous in Bacolod City.

3 DAYS ITINERARY | BACOLOD CITY, NEGROS OCCIDENTAL TRAVEL GUIDE

3:00-4:00 PM CAKE AND COFFEE AT CALEA, C’S OR FELICIAS

From Robinsons take a jeepney plying to Libertad. As the driver to drop you to L Fisher Hotel. Right in front of L Fisher, you will find the three big names in cakes and pastries in Bacolod City: Calea , Felicias, and C’s. Their cakes and pastries attract people not only in Bacolod but even guests from other places.

4:00 – 5:00 PM – CAPITOL LAGOON AND NEGROS MUSEUM

From any of these coffee shops take the jeepney going to Libertad. The jeepney will pass by the Capitol Lagoon. At the park, you will see the beautiful Provincial Capitol Building of Negros Occidental. I should say, this Provincial Capitol is one of the most beautiful structure of its kind in the country.

From the Provincial Capitol Lagoon, you can walk to the Negros Museum. Just ask anyone around for directions.

After your visit at the Negros Museum, I’m sure you are already quite tired and might want to go back to your hotel for a quick rest or to freshen up or might want to have your early dinner.

Chicken Inasal [ Bacolod Itinerary + Travel Guide | 3-Day Tour, Budget ]

5:00-ONWARDS -DINNER

For your Bacolod Tour dinner, since you are already near Lacson Street, you can pick from a variety of restaurants along the area. Since you have already tried some seafood at Balaring, you might want to try this time the Chicken Inasal of Bacolod.

The nearest chicken inasal restaurant from Negros Museum is the Chicken Deli. The Chicken Deli is right in front of the Seda Hotel – now being constructed. You might also want to try the Manokan country near SM City.

If you want to try the Manokan Country, take the jeepney in front of the Museum going to the downtown area. Just ask anyone from the museum what jeepney to take. The moment you reach the public plaza. You can walk to the Manokan Country (just beside SM City) wherein you will see a row of eateries all serving chicken inasal . I recommend you try the Lion’s Park Chicken Inasal because it is more spacious. It’s the first in the row of these eateries. Apart from chicken inasal, they also serve oysters.

Do you still have the extra energy? Or wanted to see more of Bacolod? At the back of SM City, is the Pope John Paul Tower. The tower is a seven-story building dedicated to the late Pope John Paul II who visited this capital city on the 20th of February 1981. At the topmost level of the tower, you will see a beautiful view of the city. So If you are not yet that hungry, it would be best to visit this place first before having your dinner as it might be too dark already when you visit quite late.

BACOLOD ITINERARY – DAY 3

VISIT THE RUINS, GOING HOME

As the schedule of your flight back home is unknown to me, I recommend that you spend the remaining few hours you have in buying what you want to bring home.

Going to the airport may take around 45 minutes depending on the traffic, so it would be safe to allow 1 hour for the travel time.

Before going to the airport, you can pass by the Ruins. The Ruins is one iconic structure in Negros Occidental. Technically, the Ruins is located in the

The Ruins is one iconic structure in Negros Occidental. Technically, the Ruins is located in the City of Talisay. The reason why I placed this attraction in the last of your itinerary – simply because there are no jeepneys plying this place.

To visit the place take a taxi going to the airport but ask the driver to drop you first at The Ruins (and wait for you). Just add 1 hour more for your travel time to the Airport. Since cabs charged a flat rate of P500 in going to the airport, it would be wise to negotiate first with the driver on the additional amount it would cost you for letting the cab wait while you are checking the Ruins.

4 Sample BACOLOD & SIPALAY ITINERARIES: 3-5 Days

4 Sample BACOLOD & SIPALAY ITINERARIES: 3-5 Days

By continuing to read this article, you agree to double check with the authorities or other concerned entities for the latest updates.

When we think of Negros Occidental, we think about Bacolod, its capital city. That can’t be helped, I guess. Bacolod has successfully made a name for itself as an attractive tourist destination. The Masskara Festival is one of the most well-known and most highly anticipated cultural events in the country. And don’t get us started with Bacolod’s influence to the Filipino culinary landscape. Bacolod and its neighboring cities, Talisay and Silay, have long been on the tourist map.

But the rest of the province also has a lot to offer to those who seek a sweet escape. Negros Occidental’s economy may be largely driven by sugar, but tourism is beginning to keep up too. Farther south of the province are hidden wonders like Danjugan Island, a protected area that you can visit on a day trip or an overnight stay.

Not far away from it is Sipalay City, a laid-back city devoid of skyscrapers and popular fast food chains. Interact with the locals at Poblacion Beach, just a few meters walk from the city center and the wet market. Taste the local food from the food stalls running parallel to the beach as you let the sunset embrace your weary mind and body. From the city center, you can start your beach hopping tour or stay in one of the resorts lining the coast of Sipalay.

From food tripping in Bacolod to nature tripping in Cauayan to laid-back beach hopping in Sipalay, you will thank yourself for choosing the province as the place to rejuvenate yourself. To help you with your trip, here are sample itineraries for you. Just choose what fits your budget and preference.

Please note that all these itineraries assume you’re a group of two and will be staying in a double/twin room and split the costs. Public transportation fares (jeepney, bus) are overestimated (rounded off).

Table of Contents

B acolod City is the capital of the province of Negros Occidental. Also known as the “ City of Smiles “, Bacolod celebrates its yearly MassKara Festival during the 3rd week of October. The City is also known for its culinary heritage, including its Chicken Inasal (roast chicken on skewers) and sweet dessert treats found all over the city.

In this Bacolod Travel Guide , I have listed some of the most interesting Bacolod City tourist spots, things to do and see, a Sample Itinerary, the Best Hotels in Bacolod, and nearby Cities.

Best time to visit Bacolod

If you’re looking for the warmest time to visit Bacolod, the hottest months are April, May, and June. The busiest month for tourism in Bacolod is October, during the famous Masskara Festival. How to get to Bacolod

Bacolod’s airport is not located within the city but within the Metropolitan Area of Bacolod in the City of Silay. The old airport, located in Singcang, was replaced by a bigger airport with air bridges — Bacolod-Silay International Airport(ICAO: BCD | IATA: RPVB).

Bacolod City is 45-60 minutes Southeast of Manila and 30 minutes west of Cebu by plane; the airport is connected to the two cities by local airlines — AirAsia, Philippine Airlines, and Cebu Pacific. There are also flights from Clark (1 hour travel time) and Davao City (1.5 hours travel time).
