Inside the 2023/2024 SuperTour Schedule
Spring meetings for U.S. Ski & Snowboard were held earlier this month, in person in Park City and virtually for those following along via Zoom. Among other business, the schedule for high-level domestic racing in the 2023/2024 season was presented, discussed, and ultimately, in some form, approved.
Here is the final version of the SuperTour and national championship schedule for next season. This document reflects concerns from the fundamentally logistic (“Which venues submitted a bid to host races in this period”) to the more philosophical (“It is important for us as a national ski community to have an interval-start classic race and mass start skate race at U.S. Nationals in January, because those race formats mirror those to be used at World Juniors/U23s in Planica in February”). It presents in user-friendly table form information found on the first tab of this spreadsheet .
Period 1, Alaska (Anchorage)
Period 2, U.S. Nationals in Soho
Period 3, East
[also in February: World Cup races in Canmore from February 9–13, and in Minneapolis on February 17 and 18]
Period Birkie
Period 4/SuperTour Finals, Midwest (Duluth)
This is a total of 17 races for the year: three skate sprints, four classic sprints, zero interval-start skate races, three interval-start classic races, five mass start skate distance races, one mass start classic distance race, and one skate team sprint.
Perhaps notably, there will be four Period 1 SuperTour races in Alaska, bringing the SuperTour to The Last Frontier for the first time in… uh, a long time. U.S. Nationals were held in Anchorage in 2018, Spring Series in Fairbanks in 2017, and Spring Series in Anchorage in 2014. Before that, U.S. Nationals also hit Anchorage in 2009 and 2010, though one of those was the infamous deep-freeze year when only a portion of the scheduled races were held.
As for “just” a SuperTour? It’s been a while. I can readily search by the category of SuperTour in the FIS database back through the 2006/2007 season; there are no standalone SuperTour races to be found through that time. I therefore conclude that these will be the first SuperTour races in Alaska in at least 17 years. This reporter will presumptively be on site for all four of them, and will jump into the distance races if he can do so without too grievously embarrassing himself. There is to be one (1) interval-start skate race held on the SuperTour or at U.S. Nationals this year, and it comes at Spring Series in Duluth in late March, so mass start it is for most athletes in most distance races.

[Recap] Super Junior World Tour Super Show 4 in Singapore
Watching Super Junior ‘s world tour “ Super Show 4 ” last weekend was so much fun that up till now, I’m still relishing every moment of it! Having watched “ Super Show 3 ” last year, expectation for another great Super Show was pretty high and worries were indeed unfounded as the 9-men strong team brought the house down, yet again.
Boasting a production value of SGD 2 million doesn’t guarantee a show well-worth the ticket price if not for the great efforts by the boys and the 11,000 supporting fans over the two-day sold out concerts. I was very fortunate to have watched both days of the show — friends from the media were invited to cover the second show.
Super Junior opened the show with “Superman”, “Opera”, “A Man in Love” and “Bonamana” before taking a moment to greet ELFs for the first time and leader Lee Teuk asked in mandarin “Are you guys happy?” The set continued with “You’re my Endless Love” that they dedicated to fans. f(x) members Sulli and Amber made a special appearance during “Oops” in which there was a heartwarming tribute for Heechul who is currently in military service. Siwon also playfully stole a kiss from Eunhyuk . The boys went on to charm fans with “Wonder Boy” and “Rokkugo” before exiting the stage.
They soon returned with “Walkin'” which I really liked — walking on treadmills, riding bicycles in the air and Shindong in the aeroplane costume is nothing but pure cuteness which reminds me of a baby in a romper.
Henry of the sub-unit Super Junior M kicked off the solo stages with a medley of “Off My Mind”, “Lazy Song” and “Lighters”, fully displaying his talents in playing the guitar, keyboard and violin. On the first night, “Billionaire” was performed instead of “Off My Mind.”
Next up was Eunhyuk performing “Self Luminous Bejeweled Handsome Guy”. When he asked fans what is his name during the first show, fans screamed his real name “Lee Hyukjae”. I wasn’t sure if he would had preferred them shouting “Eunhyuk” instead, he gave up after several attempts. But on the second night, Eunhyuk said he is Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt, and Choi Siwon, and even asked if fans “got it?”. The answer was hilarious! All the fans shouted “No!” back at him.
Sungmin brings up the heat as he showed off a smooth sexy dance with a female dancer. Everytime his hands land on the dancer’s body the fans screamed their lungs out.
Kyuhyun ‘s solo stage is one of my favorite. As one of the top three vocalists in the group and one who couldn’t speak English well, I find it rather impressive when he performed “Isn’t She Lovely” by Stevie Wonder, complete with harmonica and a pair of shade as well.
It caught me by surprise as Ryeowook who really come across as an introvert, teased fans by pulling up this shirt to let the female dancer touch him while singing “Moves Like a Jagger”. Ryeowook owned the stage with swift dance steps but I personally prefer a ballad song from him instead.
I had long forgotten about Kenny G if not for Lee Teuk’s beautiful saxophone rendition of “Loving You”. The leader went on to charm fans with Chopin’s Étude Op. 10, No. 5 (Black Key Etude). In the midst of singing “She”, the leader boarded a cart and started handing out roses to the fans. Guess what? I received a stalk too, but I wasn’t the lucky fan who was picked to be serenaded and hugged by Lee Teuk at the end of his cart-ride.
The funniest has to be Shindong’s cross-dressing segment for “Trouble Maker” and “Bubble Pop!” Fans screamed loudly as he makes a costume change behind a screen, showing only a sexy shadow. The playing of laser beams were also very well executed.
A hilarious video was shown, introducing the regrouped members of SJ Band in cosplay for “Good Friends” and “Pyjama Party” – Donghae dressed up as Charlie Chaplin, Eunhyuk became a white bird, Kyuhyun was transfomed into Steve Jobs, Lee Teuk turned into Hulk Hogan, Ryeowook became Gollum, Shindong as Britney Spears, Siwon as Superman, Sungmin as Marilyn Monroe, Yesung as Chucky. Their funny costumes and convincing mannerism tickled us so much we couldn’t stop laughing! On the second night, a young girl seated two rows before me was hit on the nose by the apple Steve Job Kyu threw out… hope she didn’t get a bruise after the show! I have to mention that Superman Siwon was sighted purposely tugging his red underwear several times….
The group also performed “Feels Good”, “Perfection”, “A-Cha”, “Mr Simple” and “Don’t Don” before Zhou Mi of Super Junior M continued with the second portion of solo stages, performing “Because of You.” Some audience were seen leaving their seats for washroom breaks and triggered questions whether they knew he is also part of Super Junior.
The next solo stage was shared by Siwon and Pastor Johnny Lee of 3rd Wave Ministry singing a gospel song “Your Grace is Enough.” Yesung chose to cover Kim Jong Kook ‘s One Man which drew a lukewarm response and many fans weren’t familiar with the song but nonetheless waved their lightsticks to the melody. Donghae performed “This is Love” from the OST of “Skip Beat”, followed by “Oppa Oppa” together with Eunhyuk.
There was a fan event when K.R.Y. (namely Kyuhyun, Ryeowook, Yesung), Donghae and Siwon performed “Storm.” White lights from cellphones fill the stadium as white paper flakes fill the air. It was a beautiful sight to behold. During the talk time, Lee Teuk said the white lights are like beautiful stars, but the fans are even more beautiful than the stars.
In the “looking for girlfriend” segment, Sungmin was turned down on the first night when the fan he picked wanted to be Kyuhyun’s girlfriend instead. Not giving up, he asked for another chance on the second night but it was Lee Teuk’s turn to look for his girlfriend. A Japanese fan by the name of Yuri was selected and oh boy is she lucky! Lee Teuk suggested that they do the classic moment à la the late Andre Kim’s wedding show. It sent the fans into a frenzy as they enacted the foreheads touching moment.
Next set of songs included “You & I”, “Lovely Day” and “Our Love” which made Lee Teuk cry. Fan chants fill all corners of the venue as the sea of sapphire blue transformed into a sea of red hearts. The atmosphere quickly changed from heartwarming to delirious joy as the boys returned with “Do Re Mi”, Siwon as the Captain von Trapp and Shindong as Maria. It is heartening to watch them having fun on stage too while putting up a performance for fans. Captain Siwon had to carry a heavy Maria as the latter leaped into his embrace.
On the first night during “White Christmas”, my focus was on Kyuhyun as he was nearer to my section. All of the boys were using white frost spray cans to create the christmasy effect. Kyuhyun was spraying it into the air and letting the frost land on his head while he enjoys that very moment putting a very retarded expression that made him hilarious to watch. The group disappeared from stage after “Dancing Out”, the closing song for the show. As we all already know, nothing really ends without an encore.
The group returned with “Sorry Sorry” and “Miracle” for their encore stage before every member take turns to say their goodbyes.
Eunhyuk said “ It’s sad we can only do this for two days. For Super Show 5, how many days shall we do it? Five? Ten?” and the fans cheered at his proposal.
Kyuhyun said “I’m worried that those on the side couldn’t see us clearly. Tried our best to go to all corners, the next time we will open all sides (of the stage) so you can see us closer.”
Siwon said “Today was a great day, I want to hug everyone. We always give our best cause ELFs are the best!”
Sungmin said “We are flying back to Korea immediately. Don’t want to go back, I want to stay here. Everyone here made this performance possible. As long as you keep supporting us, we will be there for you.”
Ryeowook said “Please take care, we will meet again very soon.”
Yesung said “Am so grateful for the opportunity to sing and perform. Thank you for loving and supporting us, we will always try to put our best performance for you.”
Shindong said “They have said all I wanted to say. I’m enjoying myself.”
Donghae said “Today was awesome, sorry to tell you this, I’d locked all the doors and you are trapped inside here. You have to stay overnight here. Stay with us tonight. We will put up better performance next time.”
Lee Teuk said “The fans followed us on our world tour to Korea, Taiwan, Japan… I’m watching all of you. Apa kabar (“How are you?” in Bahasa Malaysia and Indonesia). We hope this moment last in your heart. This is not just a moment but always.
The last song for the night was “Destiny” but the concert did not come to an official end until all the boys, except for Ryeowook, got themselves wet in a water game. That was four hours of energy and fun-packed performance!
“Super Show 4” will next go to Macau on March 10. Would you be there?!

The Super 4
THE SUPER 4
THE SUPER 4 is a group of four friends, four singers well-known in Italy, who have joined forces to create a project that exports Made in Italy all over the world.
THE SUPER 4 becomes known as group in 2020 when they perform in X-Factor Romania with the song "Caruso", causing the judges to burst into tears as they jump into a standing ovation.
This performance quickly garnered millions of views on YouTube.
On March 8, 2021 they release their debut joint single "Amami, Amami" ("Love me, Love me"), a song penned by Francesco Boccia.
On September 20, 2021 THE SUPER 4 together with Bella Santiago, winner of X Factor Romania 2018, release their version of "Vivo per lei" ("I live for her").
THE SUPER 4 are currently working on an EP that will include both original songs and covers reworked in their manner; they are also preparing a global concert tour.

Francesco Boccia
Aurelio Fierro Jr
Greg Rega
Francesco Boccia is singer, actor and one of the most popular songwriters of Italy.
He makes the first steps into the world of pop music at the age of 7 with his participation in the Zecchino d'Oro Festival. At 9 years old he is part of the "Ehi mà" (Gino Paoli) song chorus. At 18 he is the main character of "Domenica In" (1996 edition) hosted by Mara Venier. He devotes himself passionately to song-writing, releasing two singles with great radio response " Come se fossi un angelo " and " Ti mangerei "; he also participates along with great Italian artists in a charity CD - "Un onda nel mare".
In 2001 Francesco Boccia performs in the Sanremo Festival (Young People category) and places third with his song " Turuturu ". The song climbs the top of the charts and so Caterina Caselli's Sugar releases Francesco's first album, arranged by Adriano Pennino entitled "Turuturu", sold in over 1 million copies worldwide.
2003/2012 – Francesco Boccia participates as musician and actor in different important TV shows on Rai 1 and Rai 2. He releases singles like " Credo "(2005), " Quando si vive un amore "(2006), " Cucciolo "(2007). Touring throughout Italy in 2008/2009 with "Francesco Boccia sings Battisti" - a remake of the most beautiful Lucio Battisti songs. 2009/2011 - Francesco Boccia is hired by the director and author Antonio Prestieri aka Maldestro and with the company Teatro Intero Proprio they stage "Linea Piatta", "Se per absurddo", "Tutti p(a)ezzi", "Non ho tempo devo andare", "Money money" "Sexus", "Prendi il copione e scappa" and "Se non avessi conosciuto ti" two acts written and directed by Prestieri, winning a nomination as best supporting actor in the review dedicated to the great "Scarpetta" at Teatro Troisi.

2017 – Francesco Boccia duets with Edoardo Vianello with the song "Vecchio Twist" in promotion on Rai programs.
2020 - Author of the song " La Soluzione " sung by Gigi D'alessio and Mario Frangoulis and author of the song " Se non ritorni " sung by Kalliopi Vetta and Francesca Maionchi for the Greek market.
2019/2020 - Starts the project "THE SUPER 4" together with his friends Aurelio Fierro Jr, Sabba & Greg Rega.
2021 - Orietta Berti has a great success at Sanremo Festival with the song "Quando ti sei innamorato" ("When you fell in love") composed by Francesco Boccia.
Born in Naples on Nov. 19, '76, grandson of art, Aurelio Fierro Jr met music at the age of 4 crawling through Grandfather Aurelio Fierro's vinyls (Guaglione, Lazzarella, Scapricciatiello, 'A pizza, etc) and those of "Blood, Sweat and Tears", James Brown, Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple.
He inherited the acquaintances and friendships of Casa Fierro having the honor and good fortune to meet great artists of the caliber of Demis Roussos, Newtrolls, Eugenio Finardi, Erminio Sinni, Tullio de Piscopo, Ricchi e Poveri, Peppino Gagliardi, Nunzio Gallo, Pippo Baudo, friendships that made possible Aurelio 's education and his casual and confident approach to the artistic world.
He accompanied Grandpa Aurelio during all editions of the "Viva Napoli" Festival (hosted by Mike Bongiorno), always breathing the atmosphere of the artistic and television world, taking example and receiving valuable advice from all the greats who participated.
Aurelio began to study piano at a very young age and at the age of 14 took his first drum lessons, soon embarking on a career as a multi-instrumentalist and singer, treading the stages of small and large Italian clubs with his father Fabrizio Fierro's bands, No Press (who had the honor of accompanying Salomon Burke, Ike Turner and participated in an edition of Sanremo Blues) and Toca Fierro Band, which he soon inherited.
Aurelio Fierro Jr made his stage debut in Riccardo Cocciante's popular musical "Notre Dame de Paris" in Genoa in 2003 playing the rebel Clopin, a character he continues to perform through the end of the 2009 winter tour.
Capitalizing on these experiences, he established himself on the Neapolitan scene as a singer-drummer in the Groove, Rhythm 'n Blues band, which gives him the great ease and quickness in his approach to the musical piece and to the audience that so strongly characterize him.
Even his school studies took soon the path of art: carpenter, sculptor, painter.
One of the things people love about Aurelio is his ability to use his explosive artistic talent to build interpersonal relationships and not, as too often happens among artists, "sterile ivory towers." On stage as in life...he loves to give!
Salvatore Lampitelli , aka Sabba, begins his career as professional dancer, registered with the Italian Sports Dance Federation for ten years.
At the age of 18 he starts dedicating himself to music in all its facets - as singer, guitarist, backing vocalist, composer, booking manager, organizer and presenter of music events of all kinds - jam sessions, competitions and festivals (he created the format of 'Anxiety Jam' and 'Hinterland Music Festival'), booking manager, etc.
Salvatore is also one of the artists that director Luciano Melchionna has chosen for his theatrical show "Dignità Autonome di Prostituzione".
In 2017 he participates and wins “The Winner Is”, a singing talent show hosted by Gerry Scotti, with Mara Maionchi and Alfonso Signorini, in partnership with Radio 105, broadcast on Canale 5.
Sabba has one record with Franco Del Prete & Sud Express - "L'ultimo Apache" produced by Rai Trade, two records with "Sabba e Gli Incensurabili", six solo singles - Tutto e subito (in 2018), Stand-by (2019), Borderline (2020), Loop (May 2021), Comete (December 2021), Carnera (November 2022).
In present, Sabba is involved in several projects: a solo project, one with the Incensurabili dedicated to Battisti's music, a project consisting in a set of lives with DJ Irene Ferrara (a historic DJ from Arenile), another project with the Incensurabili called “Mr. Sabba and the Swing'n'roll Orchestra”, with a repertoire ranging from Frank Sinatra and Elvis to Michael Bublè, paying homage to the greats of Swing and Rock'n'Roll (Swing'n'Roll music).

Salvatore Lampitelli (Sabba)
Gregorio Rega aka " Greg Rega " enters music at the age of 20, when starts performing around clubs and improving technically with masters of national fame such as Fulvio Tomaino with where he specializes in the performance of R&B, Soul and Funk music.
Greg boasts various collaborations and participations in several productions of the Campania and Italian rap scene such as those with Clementino, Paura and dj Tyone.
In 2015 comes the turning point of his career when he participates in the third edition of the singing talent "The Voice of Italy" overcoming the initial selections and joining Noemi's team. After the television experience, Noemi herself offers him the opportunity to act as Back Vocalist during her concerts. This allows Greg to go on tour for two years and to participate in events such as the May Day Concert in Rome, the Coca Cola Summer Festival, the "Giorgio Gaber" award, the "MusiCultura" and "Fronte del Palco" award for RadioItalia.
In 2017 a new project comes to life: "Greg Rega Electro Soul Experience", a collective of seven musicians that provides the possibility of extending the initial training to other elements, with which Greg offers original songs from his repertoire as well as a selection of songs from the best Funk, Soul and Rhythm 'blues music in a modern, electronic key.
Greg wins in 2019 the first edition of "All together Now" - program broadcast on Canale 5 in prime time, conducted by Michelle Hunziker and J-Ax. In 2021 he participates with great results in the same contest in Russia.
Currently Greg Rega is the founder of Dharma Music Lab.
Released singles: " Sempre così " in 2015, produced by Daniele Franzese's Dharma Recording Studio. " Paura d'o mare " in 2016, in collaboration with Profugy and Giulia Olivieri. " Dint'All'Anema " in 2019. " Chello che nun vuó fa chiù " in 2019, produced by Daniele Franzese. " Ogni Vota " ("Every Time") in 2020, written together with Lorenzo Campese, song with which Greg wins the International Festival New York Canta in 2021.

GBA Bowser's Castle 4
Bowser's Castle 4 (known as Bowser Castle 4 prior to Mario Kart Tour ) is the third course of the Special Cup in Mario Kart: Super Circuit . It is the first Bowser's Castle course to appear as the third course of the Special Cup before Rainbow Road , a trait that would later be shared by every new Bowser's Castle course in future main-series installments. It is the longest course in the game and shares its music with the game's other three Bowser Castles: 1 , 2 , and 3 .
This course features many dangerous jumps over lava pits, several Thwomps blocking the way, and Mechakoopas at the end of the race. What appears to be a large generator with Bowser 's emblem on it can be seen in the background. Unlike most stages with Thwomps, some of the Thwomps on this stage are capable of moving horizontally, moving further down the track and back at regular intervals before slamming down.
This course makes its classic course debut in Mario Kart Tour as part of the 2023 Bowser Tour .

Course layout [ edit ].
Initially, there is a left-right turn followed by two normal left turns, after which there is a long, wide stretch of ground littered with square pools of lava that let out Lava Bubbles . This ends with a left turn, three right turns (with Thwomps near the last) and a left turn that leads into a thinner pathway. After another right turn the player is given the choice to take the right, narrow and (due to the boost panels) speedier route forwards or the left, wide and slower route forwards. Afterwards there are two more right turns, another split path filled with jumps, followed by a larger jump over an earlier portion of the track. The subsequent right-left turn has several Mechakoopas before the upcoming left turn. There is another left turn, two right turns and a final U-turn (with two Thwomps right in the middle of it) before the finish line is reached. Overall there are eight (a group of three, two, a lone one and another pair) item boxes on this course.
Mario Kart Tour [ edit ]
Bowser's Castle 4 makes its classic course debut in Mario Kart Tour , starting with the 2023 Bowser Tour , making this the first Special Cup course from Mario Kart: Super Circuit to return in another Mario Kart game. Though it is visually fashioned after the aesthetic of GBA Bowser's Castle 1 instead of keeping its original visuals, the castle is now depicted as ruined, with the castle situated within a lava lake bordered by two volcanoes, and the lava inside the castle now flows into a large chasm in the middle. A large throne area has been added near the bottom section of the course, though players cannot reach it. The track has been given elevation and regular road portions, bringing it closer to other GBA courses in Tour . While the layout remains relatively faithful to the original, some of the turns are simplified, the section with the holes of lava has fewer holes (all of which have ramps in front of them allowing them to be jumped over), and the section involving jumping between platforms is streamlined. New obstacles and elements have been added, like metal balls which are dropped from dispensers with propellers keeping them afloat and bounce down a stretch of road that was previously a small split path. The Mechakoopas are removed in this version. Two new gliding sections have been added, with one leading into a new split route in the bottom section of the course with pillars that can be tricked off of and a second one along the final stretch on the other route.
The course is also now a section-based course, similar to Wii Rainbow Road . Unlike that course, the beginning of section 2 is clearly marked with a banner, which rests along the horizontal path in the upper-left portion of the course. This is the first section-based Bowser's Castle course in the series. Two parts of the road that overlap each other are depicted as connecting on the minimap.
The course also appears as Bowser's Castle 4R (reversed), in which the metal balls are gone, and there are instead Bone Piranha Plants throughout the course. Bowser's Castle 4 was not only the first track since the Battle Tour to not have an R/T variant upon launch, but also the first track overall to not feature a T variant at launch. It is one of 2 courses overall to never receive an R/T variant, alongside 3DS Rock Rock Mountain . It is also the only course to have never received a T variant.
