There are six courses in England that have hosted the Open Championship. Along the rugged Lancashire coastline is Royal Liverpool , Royal Birkdale & Royal Lytham & St Anne’s while down in Kent are the layouts of Royal St George’s , Princes Golf Club and Royal Cinque Ports .

Just north of London is the Kyle Phillips-designed course at The Grove , which hosted the American Express World Golf Championship in 2006, won by none other than Tiger Woods. Of course, no list of English championship venues would be complete without mentioning The Brabazon Course at the Belfry , in Sutton Coldfield West Midlands, which has hosted the Ryder Cup on an unprecedented four occasions.

Steeped in Ryder Cup history, The Belfry is a perfect resort to accommodate groups of golfers, particularly with the newly refurbished Sam’s Bar.

If you’re heading to the south west, then the St Mellion International Resort is an absolute must.
