There are several legends pertaining to the origin of the name Bolinao. Some believe that the name “Bolinao” came from the fish called “monamon” or what Tagalogs, Bicolanos, and Visayans call “bolinao”. Another legend is about the “Pamulinawen” tree that abounded in the town long ago. Some people also believe in the legend of a couple named Bolido and Anao. Their love story captured the minds of the locals, creating the portmanteau “Bolinao”.

The town was part of the province of Zambales, along with other western towns, before being annexed by the province of Pangasinan through Public Act No. 1004 on November 30, 1903. The people of Bolinao speak Pangasinan, Ilocano, Tagalog, and their own native language called Bolinao. The language resembles the Sambalic language spoken in the province of Zambales.

It was claimed that the first mass in the country took place in St. James the Great Church, located at the heart of the town. In fact, a marker in front of the church states that the Franciscan missionary ‘Blessed Odorico’ from Friuli (now Udine), Italy, officiated the first Catholic mass in the Philippines, particularly in the town of Bolinao. As the “pioneer of missions in spreading the gospel of the Bible to Asia”, Blessed Odorico was said to have visited the Philippines from China in 1324.

The town of Bolinao is part of the first congressional district of Pangasinan and is 81 kilometers from the capital town of Lingayen. It has a land area of 19,722 hectares and a population of 83,979 according to the 2020 census.

Its massive fishing industry inspired the creation of the Mangunguna Festival, which translates to the Fisherman Festival, attracting thousands of tourists annually. Bolinao is dubbed the Boracay of Pangasinan due to its powdery white sand beaches and coconut trees planted along the coast of Patar beach. Balingasay River is another attraction owing to its title as the ‘cleanest river’ in Region 1. It is also the ‘home of the giant clams.’

While on vacation, tourists also indulge in a Bolinao delicacy called binungey, a sweet sticky rice inside a bamboo cooked slowly over charcoal or woodfire.

BOLINAO | Travel Guide + Itinerary + Budget + Map

Bolinao Travel Guide Itinerary Budget

Located in the province of Pangasinan, the town of Bolinao is one of the perfect places to spend a quick weekend by the beach. Situated about six hours away by bus from Manila, a midnight ride from Cubao can easily transport tourists from the bustle of the metro to a relaxing seaside getaway. Besides its sprawl of golden beaches and aquamarine waters, it boasts of three easy to explore caves with natural pools within its caverns, three gorgeous waterfalls, unique rock formations along its coasts and the second tallest American Era lighthouse in the Philippines.

► HOW TO GET TO BOLINAO

Coming from Manila, getting to Bolinao requires a six-hour bus ride. It sounds daunting but it’s really quite easy. From Cubao and Pasay, there are three bus companies offering daily rides directly to Bolinao. The best way is to board one at around midnight, which would have you at the town’s Poblacion at about six in the morning. While there are multiple bus schedules per day at the said bus terminals, if on the rare instance that these are full, another option is to take an Alaminos bound bus, and from there, Bolinao is only an hour away by either bus or van.

► BOLINAO SAMPLE ITINERARY & TRAVEL BUDGET

Bolinao can easily be toured in a single day and could be enjoyed over a weekend. Depart from Manila by Friday night, arrive in Bolinao early Saturday morning, and ride back to Manila on Sunday afternoon. This is usually enough to see everything the place has to offer. But to truly enjoy your trip, reserve at least three full days. Do the tour on your first day, and relax on the beach on the next two days. If you can afford it, book on weekdays, as Patar White Beach usually gets filled up during weekends.

For your Bolinao travel budget, a third of it would go to transportation costs. Tours are relatively cheap if you’re four in the group—so is the transport going from town to Patar—since tricycle in town charges per vehicle and not per head.

Hi good day! Possible ba na dala namin yung sasakyan sa mga tour? di kami magrerent ng trike? And need ba ng guide? or WAZEable namna sya? specially the Patar and bolinao falls? Thank You :)

No need to hire a guide or a tricycle if you have a van with you. Not sure if the locations are already set in waze, but if ever, you may simply use the gps coordinates I posted on each site to get there using Google Maps.

Hi!, meron po bang deluxe trips ang mga buses directly to bolinao? thanks!

Hi Hernan, as far as I know there are no deluxe non-stop trips to Bolinao from Manila.

Hi! coordinates would be very helpfull to us. I need help where and what hotel will be good for us 7 adult and 2kids since ayaw ng mga kasama ko ng online booking. Dun nalang kami maghanap ng hotel na beach front. Pls any suggestion po. Thankd

I would suggest Puerto del Sol or Treasures of Bolinao. I posted reviews of both these resorts on the links above (with GPS coordinates too)

paano po pumunta sa patar beach yung wala entrance fee anu po sasabihin sa tricycle driver salamat !

Hi Jovelyn, just tell the tricycle driver to drop you to Patar White Sand Beach, it has no entrance fee :)

Hi how much po rent ng cottage sa patar beach?

If I remember correctly, it's at around 200 to 400 pesos

Hi. Ask ko lang po kung anong transient house ang suggested nyo for a group of more than 15 persons?

Hmmm, it would depend on how picky you guys are when it comes to lodging. If you're not too choosy and can rough it out, I would suggest the beach huts along Patar White Beach

Hi, if may dala kaming tent sa Patar beach, how much ang bayad? & bakit sabi sa ibang blog na merong parking fee ang Patar beach?

If you're gonna park right on the road parallel to Patar Beach, you won't have to pay for parking fees, but if you're gonna leave your cars on parking lots, then they have fees. For pitching of tents in Patar Beach, as long as you pitch it outside the perimeter of the resorts and huts, then it's free.

can you please give me updates on how to go to Bolinao from Baguio.

From Baguio there are ordinary buses and aircon vans that goes to Bolinao and parts of Pangasinan. They park on the bus depot in front of SM Baguio

Hi, Is it good to go there by the month of July?on the first week probably. Thanks!

July is a bit iffy for Bolinao since it's already the start of the rainy season. But it, of course, depends. There are always days when its sunny. Check Accuweather before going.

Good day! Sa sundowners villa po kase ang accomodation at mg-quick trip po sana kami sa Patar White Beach at Lighthouse, mas recommended po ba na mg-hire tricycle? Since dun lang po ang ppuntahan namin. Maraming Salamat po

Yes, you will need to hire a tricycle since the lighthouse is very far from your location.

hi..good morning po.. ask lng po.kung.meron po bang package tour coming.from.baguio city to bolinao.. yung kasali.n po.lahat.. transpo acommodation at yung pag tour sa mga land marks.. kung.meron po how much.po.ang.quotation..

Hi Ruby, I'm not sure if there are packaged tour to Bolinao from Baguio City. Your best bet is to ask around the travel agencies in Baguio.

Begin your adventure in Bolinao with a visit to the crown jewel of the town — Patar Beach. It is renowned for its powdery white sand and crystal-clear water.

Patar Beach is a tropical paradise that beckons sunseekers and water enthusiasts. Whether you’re looking to soak up the sun, take a leisurely swim, or simply relax under the shade of coconut trees, Patar Beach has it all. As the sun begins its descent, the beach transforms into a canvas of vivid hues during sunset, making it an idyllic spot for romantic walks or a tranquil evening by the shore.

You can visit Patar Beach on a day trip or stay in one of the budget-friendly hotels and resorts along the shore.

Cape Bolinao Lighthouse

Perched majestically on Punta Piedra Point, the Cape Bolinao Lighthouse stands as both a sentinel of the sea and a testament to the town’s maritime heritage.

This historic lighthouse, constructed during the American colonial era, offers panoramic vistas of the West Philippine Sea. The lighthouse’s iconic red-and-white exterior contrasts beautifully with the azure sky, making it a photographer’s dream. A 140-step spiral staircase leads to the top, where the sweeping views of the coastline and the West Philippine Sea are nothing short of awe-inspiring. Unfortunately, it is not allowed to climb up the staircase but you can still appreciate the view from the deck.

Don’t forget to buy souvenirs at the shop before you leave the lighthouse.

Another one of the best Bolinao tourist spots that you shouldn’t miss is Enchanted Cave.

Enchanted Cave is a captivating natural wonder – an underground pool with clear, cool waters located inside a cave adorned with impressive rock formations, stalactites, and stalagmites. The unique combination of natural beauty and tranquil serenity makes this cave a must-visit destination for those seeking adventure and a connection with the earth’s wonders.

Don’t forget your swimsuit and a waterproof camera to capture the magic of this subterranean paradise. Lifevests and snorkels are already provided by the park.

Bolinao Falls - one of the best Pangasinan tourist spots

The best tourist spots in Bolinao aren’t all beaches – this town also features refreshing waterfalls within lush forests.

Bolinao Falls is a series of three cascading waterfalls, with Bolinao Falls 1 and 2 as the most popular waterfall destinations in the area. These cascading beauties offer a cool respite from the tropical heat, inviting you to take a dip in their crystal-clear pools. Surrounded by verdant foliage and the symphony of nature’s sounds, these waterfalls provide an excellent opportunity for relaxation and communing with nature.

Steeped in history and architectural beauty, the Bolinao Church, officially known as the St. James the Great Parish Church, is a significant cultural and religious landmark.

Built during the Spanish colonial period, this centuries-old church showcases a unique blend of Baroque and Neoclassical architectural styles. The church’s intricate facade and serene interior make it a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts and those interested in the rich heritage of Bolinao.

Balingasay River is undeniably one of the best tourist spots in Bolinao. The river is said to be the cleanest one in Ilocos Norte and offers various activities including swimming, kayaking, and river cruising.

Don’t forget to stop by Sungayan Grill and enjoy Pangasinense dishes aboard the floating restaurant. Afterwards, take the 1-hour river cruise and relax while the cruise floats idly down the river, surrounded by mangrove trees and various fauna.

Think you’ve seen it all? Wait until you’ve visited Santiago Island!

Santiago Island is one of the hidden gems in Bolinao. It is home to a giant clam ocean nursery and marine protected areas, making it ideal for aquatic activities such as snorkeling and scuba diving. It also has white-sand beaches where you can frolick under the sun.

You can visit Santiago Island on a day trip, but it’s best to spend more than a day to explore its attractions.

Tara Falls is one of the lesser-known attractions in Pangasinan. It is also the most accessible waterfalls in the town, which makes it popular among the locals.

This waterfall is smaller than Bolinao Falls, but it has a wide basin where you can swim, float, and cool off. It is a perfect spot for a refreshing swim and a memorable escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The best time to visit Tara Falls is during the summer months, as the water tends to be murky during the rainy season.

One of the lesser-visited tourist spots in Bolinao, the Wonderful Cave is worth seeing especially if you are looking for new places to visit in town.

Wonderful Cave is similar to Enchanted Cave. It features an underground pool inside the cave. The pool is smaller and shallow, making it ideal as swimming ground for kids. This destination is also quieter and less crowded, making it a decent alternative for those who want a more relaxed spot to swim.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jickson Dela Cruz (@jicksondelacruz)

Another cave pool in Bolinao is Cindy’s Cave. Cindy’s Cave is small, with shallow to deep water perfect for swimming. There are also stalactites adorning the cave walls, as well as ancient foreign writings.

Camp Puor - one of the attractions in Bolinao, Pangasinan

Camp Puor is one of the newest Bolinao tourist spots. Established in 2021, this campsite immediately grew in popularity online due to its IG-worthy structures and corners.

This campsite is ideal for those who love sleeping outdoors and enjoying nature at its pristine conditions. Relax, eat local food and drink fresh coconut, and swim in Balingasay River — one of the cleanest rivers in the region.

Old Rock Resort Hotel is one of the iconic beach resorts in Bolinao. It has a picturesque swimming pool surrounded by rock patterns, a private beachfront, and other leisure activities such as beach volleyball.

Patar Beach

One of the most visited beaches in Pangasinan is the Patar Beach, with clear blue waters embracing a long stretch of fine white sand in Barangay Patar in the town of Bolinao. It is readily accessible when coming from the busy metropolis and is easily a site for calm and relaxation. Camping is allowed along the beach and cottages are also available for rent. The best part? Absolutely free entrance!

Top Things To Do In Bolinao

From our recent trip to Bolinao, I’ve come to love this beautiful destination. Here are some of the things to do in Bolinao that you wouldn’t want to miss!

Travel Tip: Check schedules and availability of buses to Pangasinan for booking online with 12Go Asia.

Listen To The Birds

Birdland Beach Club is an awesome place to check in and one of the best Bolinao tourist spots. It’s the only eco-resort in the Philippines that boasts of Bolifugao towers. These are three to four stories high huts.

Inside, you will find hundreds of birdhouses created by the owner Michael Parayno. All day long, you will hear the birds singing and it’s wonderful!

We had the chance to stay here and it was an unforgettable experience! You will easily come to love the resort with everything it has to offer. There are tons of activities you can do that are free.  And if you love jazz music, don’t miss the Annual Jazz Festival.

Sleep Under The Stars

Who wouldn’t want to try camping? From our last trip, we rented a hut from Mia Almar . We also brought a tent so some camped outside. Despite not seeing a lot of stars that night, it was indeed a must-try for everyone especially for those who love to listen to the sea waves. It’ll lull you to sleep.

Eat Seafood Boodle

Bolinao has some of the greatest seafood restaurants in the region. There’s Sungayan Grill Restaurant and Giant Taclobo. So how do you choose which one to eat from? You don’t. You should try both.

Sungayan Grill Restaurant is famous for its river cruise. You rent a floating hut and a boatman will drag you up to the river and back while you eat that delicious seafood. It’s a one-of-a-kind experience that you should definitely try!

The view is just stunning! In fact, the Balingasay River is considered as one of the cleanest rivers in the country. If you’re lucky, you will see birds fly overhead.

On the other hand, Giant Taklobo Resto Grill, as we were told has great seafood, too. We went there and ordered crabs but they were out of stock. So we opted for the seafood boodle. Needless to say, we ate to our heart’s content. Their food is delicious!

Giant Taklobo Resto Grill

Snorkel Near The Beach

During our stay in Mia Almar, we had a beachfront accommodation. My fiancé and I brought our snorkeling equipment and tried looking for fishes. I was amazed that there were fishes swimming by just a meter from the beach. It was remarkable.

Polly's Place

Chase Waterfalls

Bolinao boasts of three well-known waterfalls which are kinda ironic since it already has beaches to offer and waterfalls, too? Don’t they just have it all? This is the best Bolinao tourist spots.

Unfortunately, I only experienced one of the waterfalls – Bolinao Waterfalls 1, but it was a great memory all the same. There are life vests and rafts for rent in the place so you have nothing to worry about. They do, however lack bathrooms where you can change in and out of your swimming suits.

From the parking area, you can either walk 10 to 15 minutes to reach Bolinao Waterfalls 1 or rent a tricycle. There’s also an entrance fee that you have to pay – 20 pesos per person.

bolinao falls

Swim In An Enchanted Cave

I’m not sure if it’s enchanted or not but you will feel like it is once you try swimming inside. The Enchanted Cave is a resort that offers swimming pools, gardens, and a cave where you can swim.

Before going inside the cave, you have to use a hard hat and a life vest. Then, descend a few steps and you’re there! There are lights set up all around and the water’s really cold but refreshing.

Check Out The Bolinao View From The Lighthouse

Just a few minutes from Patar beach, the Bolinao lighthouse is a great view point. It can, however, be too hot during the day since there are no shades whatsoever.

Also, you can’t go up the lighthouse which is a real bummer but the view from the viewpoint is amazing. You can see the town as well as the sea and beyond.

bolinao lighthouse

Enjoy The White and Creamy Sand

I’m not sure if the sand is really white or there’s something wrong with my eyes but I’d say it’s like a cream color. Since most people say that it’s white sand, I was expecting white but all I got was cream. However, Patar beach is truly one of the best Bolinao tourist spots. The wide sand and the waves are just the right combinations for that perfect beach trip!

patar

Go To The Rock Formations

For one of the best sunrise and sunset views, you have to check out the rock formations in Bolinao. These huge rocky cliffs are pretty unique. Just by looking at them, one would think that they are simply rocks. But that’s not the case. The fact is, these are massive collections of corals that are more than a thousand years old. To get here, you have to pay P75 to the Rock View Beach Resort as an entrance fee.

Go On A Day Trip To Santiago Island

Just off the coast of Bolinao, you will find the Santiago Island. Boasting of mangroves, coral reefs, and migratory birds, you will wonder why you never went there before. You can fish here, just talk to one of the boatmen and they will provide you with some fishing poles and bait. Most of the fishes found here are milkfish or ‘bangus’. You can also snorkel and enjoy the underwater beauty of Bolinao.

Taste Binungey

What’s ‘binungey’? This is one of the most popular delicacies in Pangasinan. It is made of sticky rice cake with coconut milk. You can’t resist buying one of these because the bamboo cover will tickle your curiosities and make you want to taste what’s inside. To eat this, you will be given a spoon creatively made from bamboo with some sugary syrup.

binungey

Watch The Sunset

What’s the best thing you can do in Bolinao? Watch the beautiful sunset! Whether you are at the beach, the rocky cliffs or at Birdland Beach Club Resort, you’ll be mesmerized by this stunning view.

Buy Souvenirs

If you’re looking for some souvenirs to bring home to your friends and family, don’t miss the souvenir shops in Patar White Beach. But if you can, try to buy from the local craftsmen who actually make them. This will be of great help to them.

Visit St. James Church

Built in 1609, the St. James Church is one of the oldest churches in the Philippines. It has been through earthquakes, fires, and typhoons for over 3 centuries but it still looks great.

Experience the Wonderful Cave

Looking for some adventure? The Wonderful Cave is one of the must-visit Bolinao tourist spots. Its spikey formations created from corals and limestone will leave you speechless! There are steps and sturdy handrails to help you explore this space so don’t worry too much. You can swim inside the pool of the cave, too. Isn’t it wonderful?

Go to Cindy’s Cave

Here’s another cave that’s worth exploring! Just like Wonderful Cave and Enchanted Cave, Cindy’s Cave offers a crystal clear swimming pool inside. You’ll also love the trees and plants outside surrounding the cave. If you love a less crowded place, this is the cave to go!

And that’s it for our list of things to do in Bolinao. Do you think we missed anything? Let us know in the comments below.

Responsible Travel Tips

When traveling to one place, make sure you practice responsible tourism. Here are some tips to do so.

1. Respect the environment

Don’t litter. Please hold onto your trash until you find a garbage can. Don’t bring home the sand or any seashell. Leave them where they belong. Missing seashells can have potential detrimental environmental impacts.

How about snorkelling on top of live giant clams (locally known as taklobo) in Silaki Island also in Bolinao? It boasts of more than 40,000 taklobos, making it the country’s largest giant clam sea nursery. Most of the giant clams from Anilao, Batangas and Davao came from here.

' src=

Wow! I didn’t know about this one. Thanks for this. Would love to go snorkeling there. 😀

15 Best Things to Do in Bolinao (the Philippines)

Home of the sea urchins, Bolinao is a relatively underdeveloped area on the island of Luzon that makes for intimate connections with the environment, and locals. You aren’t going to find big malls and cinemas in this neck of the woods, but you will find some awesome food, interesting caves, pristine waterfalls, and plenty of beaches to keep your curious traveling mind awake.

You won’t find as much English spoken in Bolinao as you would in other areas of Luzon and the Philippines, but you will find plenty of locals who know enough to get by and are happy to practice with you. Consider stopping by one of the schools to volunteer an English class or to play some games with the kids. They’ll certainly be surprised to see you.

Keep in mind that the rainy season is from May to October, which can make these nature explorations a bit tricky!

Let’s explore the best things to do in Bolinao :

1. St. James Church

St. James Church

Built by Augustinians in 1609, it’s a wonder that St. James Church is still standing. This Spanish colonial masterpiece has been through some tough times including a fierce earthquake in 1788, a fire in 1819, and a significant typhoon in 2009.

The weathered building looks like something out of a thriller movie yet is still the happy gathering place of religious Filipinos who come for Sunday mass.

While you’re there, keep your eyes peeled for vendors in front of the church selling binongey, a popular rice delicacy in Bolinao made of sticky rice and coconut milk, served in a bamboo shoot.

2. Bolinao Falls 1

Bolinao Falls 1

Insanely gorgeous! Bolinao Falls is one of the only waterfalls in Luzon with a glowing turquoise pool of water! The falls jet down from 2-stories high into an expansive swimming pool below where you can play all day. There are varying depths to this large pool that will suit all swimming levels, including a partially submerged rock platform and even steps to climb into the pool.

To reach the falls, enjoy a quick and easy 5-10 minute hike.

3. Bolinao Falls 2

Bolinao Falls 2

Despite having come in second place with its name, Bolinao Falls 2 is number one in terms of pure awesomeness. This natural waterfall and swimming pool looks more like an outdoor waterpark than an act of nature.

The main waterfall is huge both in height and length. The pools are deep so go ahead and cliff dive from above! There are mini rock islands all throughout the pool where you can climb- some even have their own little waterfalls.

There are lots of picnic cabanas surrounding Bolinao Falls 2 where you can get some shade and enjoy some snacks. Bring the whole gang.

4. Tara Falls

Tara Falls

Come to Tara Falls during the week in the morning and you will most likely have the entire place to yourself. This picturesque waterfall oasis in the middle of the jungle is so serene and peaceful- especially when it’s just you and your sweetheart

The pool is deep enough for you to jump off the cliff and the water is cool enough to give you a refreshing break from the summer sun. Better yet, it is only 15 minutes from town and there is no entrance fee!

There are little areas around the fall where you can have a picnic, play some card games, or take a rest from the pool.

5. Cruise the Balingasay River

Balingasay River

Dubbed “the cleanest river in Luzon”, the Balingasay River is an environmental community project for the local government. They want to ensure that wild animal species living here, including lots of migratory birds, thrive and that pollution doesn’t affect the ecosystem.

This protected river has 15 hectares of century old and new growth mangroves and 30 hectares of wild ferns, Nipa palms, and trees hanging into the water. The river is also teeming with fish, shrimp, crab and more food sources for the locals.

Your river cruise will be educational, informational, and of course, sensational! Take photos, ask questions, and enjoy the ride.

6. Patar White Beach

Patar White Beach

The most beautiful beach in Bolinao can be found in Pangasinan. Beach. With uninterrupted space and views, Patar White beach is the perfect place to have a racy photo-shoot, go for a run, take a serene swim, or sprawl out in the sand. You won’t find fancy resorts or bungalows here. You won’t even find restaurants. So, bring your own grills and have an evening BBQ on the beach.

Just be prepared for handfuls of small Filipino kids who hawking their handmade trinkets and souvenirs.

7. Cape Bolinao lighthouse

Cape Bolinao Lighthouse

Close by Patar White Beach is Cape Bolinao Lighthouse. Surrounded by blossoming red bushes and set with the sea in the background, it’s no wonder why this lighthouse is the location of choice for engagement photos and romantic gestures.

There is a 140-stepped spiral staircase that leads to the light room 76.2 meters above sea level. Unfortunately, you cannot climb these rickety old stairs. You’ll have to settle for the raised observation deck below that still offers some beautiful views of the sea!

8. Rock View Beach Resort

Rock View Beach Resort

Get up early and wander on over to Rock View Beach Resort for stunning sunrise views and low tide or stroll over in the evening for a gorgeous sunset.

The huge rocky cliffs, which are scattered in the sea and make this site so unique, are actually massive collections of corals thousands of years old. You’ve never seen anything like it.

Although it’s a really lovely experience, you don’t have to stay at this resort to visit Rock View Beach. Entry is Php75 and is worth every penny for the views, photos, and serene environment.

9. Santiago Island

Santiago Island

Take a day trip to Santiago Island, which lies just off the coast of Bolinao. This island has a rich ecosystem home to mangroves, many species of migratory birds, and lots of coral reefs.

You can arrange a private fishing trip with a boat captain who will supply the fishing poles and bait. Whatever fish you manage to catch, the boat captain will help you grill them up back on shore. Your most likely catch will be Bangus or milkfish, the two species that most heavily frequent these waters.

If fishing isn’t your cup of tea, go on a snorkel trip where you can dive in and get at glimpse at the underwater world of Bolinao. In between snorkel dives, you can chill out on the white sand beaches of Santiago Island.

10. Sungayan Grill

Sungayan Grill

Picture this: a seafood spread where all of the best seafood such as crab, grilled fish, shrimp, and squid are laid out on a huge banana leaf with a big portion of rice and sauces in the middle. Pair that with a fresh coconut and a couple cold beers, and you have the most incredible feast at your fingertips!

Oh, and did I mention that the restaurant will be floating down the river? Sungayan Grill is actually a river cruise that slowly guides you on the winding water where you can spot some birds, see some locals and take in your surroundings. This cruise also gives you plenty of time to enjoy your meal with your friends.

11. Treasures Resort

Treasures Resort

If you’re looking for luxury in Bolinao, Treasures Resort is it. Set with a backdrop of emerald green pastures and tall palm trees, Treasures gives you that tropical feeling all around.

The accommodation here is very comfortable with cozy rooms and obliging staff. The pool is grand with little nooks to relax, a pool bar for cocktails, and lounge chairs where you can soak up some rays. There is also a spa and a gym for guests. The restaurant serves quality food and the wine bar has an amazing selection.

Nearby you’ll find a UNESCO World heritage site, Sukhothai Historical Park, as well as, a national museum, Sangkhaloke village, and more.

12. Enchanted Cave

Enchanted Cave

Hire a tour guide when you visit the Enchanted Cave. This complex underground system is so mysterious that you’ll need a local there to answer all your burning questions. As you’ll learn, the Enchanted Cave was once totally underwater some few million years ago. Today, it stands as one of the main attractions in Bolinao city.

For an extra Php20, you can take a dip in the underground swimming hole surrounded by hanging cave rock.

Tip: Go early! The Enchanted Cave tends to get very crowded!

13. Wonderful Cave

Wonderful Cave

This cave really is wonderful! While it’s smaller than the others caves in Bolinao, it still offers quite the adventure. This cave has such detail on the ceiling with thousands of spikey formations formed from coral and limestone.  Exploring this dark space is very safe with sturdy handrails and steps built in for easy access, so don’t hesitate to bring the whole family.

There is a cool pool with crystal waters inside the cave where you can swim and listen to the echoing sounds of the splashing water reverberating off the cave walls.

14. Cindy’s Cave

Cindy's Cave

Cindy’s Cave is a cool spot to visit not only to experience the underworld of crazy rock formations and the clear swimming pool in what feels like Mars on Earth, but also for the nature and features that surround the cave.

You’ll find mango trees, jackfruit trees, and unfamiliar plants and flowers. There is also a small hand-pump well where you can rinse yourself off with more fresh water from the ground.

The cave is pretty big and less visited by other groups of tourists so it is less likely to be crowded for you and your group.

15. Adora’s Restaurant

Adora's Restaurant

For authentic Filipino food that is open 24-hours a day, look no further than Adora’s Restaurant. Eating here is like eating in the home of a motherly Filipina woman’s house in that the dishes are cooked with so much love and so much soul.

You’ll find dishes with deep flavor like pork steak and fried chicken that comes in generous portions! The most popular dish here is the classic Tapsilog, which is a stewed curry pork served with rice. If you’ve never had it, this is the best place to try it!

Don’t be surprised if you show up at 2am and there are other guests eating! This is the landing spot for middle of the night munchies and late-night arrivals.
