Trainer Sandy Thomson - targeting Haydock feature

2020/2021 Jumps Stable Tour: Sandy Thomson

We continue or stable tours for the new jumps season with Mark Howard getting the lowdown from Sandy Thomson on his team.

ALOOMOMO (FR) 10 b g Tirwanako (FR) – Kayola (FR)

A lovely horse who broke his shoulder earlier in his career and we were therefore delighted to see him win for us at Kelso in January. Runner-up over hurdles at Ayr in March, his big target was the Northern Lights series final but the season was cut short. He is qualified for this season’s final so he is likely to be aimed at that once again, plus some of the nice two and a half miles handicap chases.

BASS ROCK (FR) 4 b g Martaline – Horta (FR)

A new arrival, he only raced once in France finishing fifth at Clairefontaine in the summer of last year. He is a lovely horse and we are looking forward to starting him off at Carlisle on Thursday.

CAVENTARA 8 b g Kayf Tara – L’Aventure (FR)

He loves hock deep ground and stays very well. A winner at Kelso on his reappearance nearly a year ago, he was still going well when falling in the Borders National at the same track last time. Off since, that will be his main target once again with one run beforehand.

DELUXE RANGE (IRE) 5 b g Westerner – Kildea Cailin (IRE)

Fifth on his hurdles debut at Hexham on Saturday, he is a nice horse who ran in a couple of Irish points before we bought him. He has strengthened up during the summer and is a lovely horse for the future. His future is as a chaser but I am hopeful he will win over hurdles beforehand.

DUC DE GRISSAY (FR) 7 b g Denham Red (FR) – Rhea De Grissay (FR)

A winner over fences at Kelso in March, he remains eligible for novice races until the end of November. The original plan was to aim him at the Durham National at Sedgefield on Sunday but I don’t think we will go there. However, he will be in action shortly and is a nice staying prospect who was bought cheaply having run in four Irish point-to-points.

ELF DE RE (FR) 6 ch g Anabaa Blue – Ninon De Re (FR)

Enjoyed a good season over hurdles winning by a wide margin at Kelso in December before finishing second twice at the same track. He ran very well in a Grade 2 novice hurdle last time and we are looking forward to sending him chasing. He has schooled well and he will start off over two miles at Carlisle (22nd October) next week. Versatile in terms of trip, he stays well but isn’t short of speed either.

EMPIRE STEEL (IRE) 6 gr g Aizavoski (IRE) – Talk of Rain (FR)

Placed in two of his three Irish points, he won well on hurdles debut at Carlisle before finding the ground too soft at Ayr last time. A few of ours weren’t at their best at that time either and he has had a good break since. He looks well and has filled out since last season. He is another who is going over fences and will start off in a 0-135 novices’ handicap chase at Ayr at the end of the month.

FANTASTIC ROCK (FR) 5 ch g Konig Turf (GER) – Rock Treasure (FR)

A bumper winner in France, he was also second a couple of times over hurdles last year. A big strong horse, he has needed time and will have his first run for us in a novice hurdle at Ayr (26th October) later this month.

FLOWER OF SCOTLAND (FR) 5 gr m Lord Du Sud (FR) – Theme Song (FR)

Yet to run for us, I am delighted with her and, although she is still a maiden over hurdles and fences, she had some good form in France. Not the biggest, she jumps very well and is like a little rubber ball. She has chilled out since arriving and we will start her off in a novices’ hurdle at Carlisle on Thursday. Rated 125, she is an interesting prospect.

GERONIMO 9 ch g Kadastrof (FR) – Triggers Ginger

Won on his reappearance at Newcastle in December before finishing third in the Peter Marsh Chase at Haydock the following month. Pulled up in the Grand National Trial at the same track, we were aiming him at the Scottish National once again. He will return in a two and a half miles handicap chase at Ayr (31st October) and we have operated on his wind since his last run, which will hopefully bring about further improvement. He will then contest the decent staying handicap chases.

MCGOWAN’S PASS 9 b g Central Park (IRE) – Function Dreamer

Consistent in three starts last season, he won at Ayr before filling second position at Kelso and Wetherby. He will reappear in the Scottish Champion Hurdle Trial at Ayr (31st October). It is possible two and a half miles is more of his trip nowadays but he has plenty of good form over two miles. We may send him over fences in the spring.

MILVALE (IRE) 6 b g Ask – House-Of-Hearts (IRE)

Won over hurdles at Kelso in late February but then had an issue and we weren’t happy with him. He has come back in looking stronger, although he isn’t the biggest of horses, and the intention is to send him chasing. He wants soft ground and we will start him off at either Ayr (31st October) or Carlisle (1st November). Runner-up in an Irish point, I am expecting him to stay three miles this season.

OFF THE BEAT 6 ch g Black Sam Bellamy (IRE) – Off By Heart

Has only raced three times for us and I was delighted with his win at Newcastle early in the New Year. Not at his best at the same track last time, he will remain over hurdles and we will aim him at two and a half miles handicaps. We are going to step him up in trip this season.

OVERCOURT 6 b g Court Cave (IRE) – Overlady

Progressive over hurdles, he won at Musselburgh and Newcastle and is tough. We have been schooling him over fences and the plan is for him to make his chasing debut at Sedgefield on Sunday (18th October). His dam stayed all day and I hope he will develop into a nice chaser.

SEEYOUATMIDNIGHT 12 b g Midnight Legend – Morsky Baloo

A Grade 2 winner over hurdles and fences, and placed in the Scottish National, he has been a fantastic horse for us over the year. It was brilliant to see him win at Carlisle last spring having spent nearly two years on the sidelines. We were going to aim him at the Scottish National once again but the season got cut short. He is in good order at home but I don’t know whether he is going to be ready in time for a veterans’ chase at Aintree (25th October). The final at Sandown early in the New Year is likely to be his main target this season.

SIRWILLIAMWALLACE (IRE) 7 b g Getaway (GER) – Mrs Milan (IRE)

We have some lovely young horses to go chasing this season and we are looking forward to sending this one over fences. He hasn’t stopped growing for the last couple of years and, having finished runner-up at Ayr in Ayr in January, he won well next time at Kelso. He had had enough by the time he ran at Newcastle last time. He will make his chasing debut at Wetherby on Wednesday and his schooling has been good.

SOPHIE FATALE 8 b m Robin Des Champs (FR) – Buffy

She had leg problems prior to joining us but I was pleased with her last season finishing second twice at Kelso and Newcastle and also third at Hexham. Despite the fact she is still a maiden over hurdles, I think she will be suited by fences and will run in mares’ event over two and a half to three miles. I am expecting her to stay well this season.

THE FERRY MASTER (IRE) 7 b g Elusive Pimpernel (USA) – Dinghy (IRE)

Progressive over hurdles last season, we threw him in the deep end in Graded company at Haydock in February before he was awarded a race at Carlisle the following month. We operated on his wind during the summer and I thought he ran very well on his chasing debut at Hexham on Saturday finishing second. His schooling had gone well and his jumping was good. He will appreciate stepping up to three miles in time and ought to make a lovely chaser.

We were made very welcome, loved watching the horses on the gallops and the breakfast was superb! Michele and Steve - Breakfast with Kim Bailey - November 2023
The visit to Kim's stables was fantastic we really enjoyed ourselves. We will try and find another one next year. Colin and Pauline - Breakfast with Kim Bailey - October 2023
Loved every minute of it. Kim, Clare and the Thorndale Farm team were fantastic, so friendly and hospitable... Would highly recommend the tour. Tracey and Kev - Breakfast with Kim Bailey - October 2022
I know my Dad really enjoyed being back around horses. He is an avid race fan so this was an ideal gift for him! Totally fab. Thank you. Amanda and Chris - Breakfast with Fergal O'Brien - May 2022
Loved it. We were taken good care of. We saw the gallops, the all weather gallops, the training jumps, the stables and lots of horses. Plenty of time in the stables, we would go again tomorrow. Kath and Adrian - Breakfast with Fergal O'Brien - March 2022
I just wanted to say we had an absolutely fantastic day at Fergal O'Brien's stable, we thought it was superb. Thank you again, only took two years (due to COVID-19) but well worth the wait. Jeremy and Rick - Breakfast with Fergal O'Brien - January 2022
Fergal and all of his team were very welcoming - there aren't many top trainers who would make you a cup of tea themselves! Good, clear communication from yourselves. Edward and John - Breakfast with Fergal O'Brien - January 2022
Fantastic facilities, well-structured tour, very interesting and informative. Great gallops, very knowledgeable stable staff who presented the string very well. John and Gary - Breakfast with Fergal O'Brien - November 2021
We had a fantastic morning thank you and would thoroughly recommend it. It was amazing to see the horses on the gallops and witness the atmosphere within the yard. Scott and Ryan - Breakfast with Fergal O'Brien - November 2021

18 and over

Paul Nicholls will not be firing bullets like a machine gun at the Cheltenham Festival, but you can bet the ammunition that he uses will not be there for a day out.

The Ditcheat team came away very happily from the four-day jamboree when Stay Away Fay landed the Grade 1 Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle and Stage Star took the Turners Novices’ Chase and both are in the pack again as Paul looks to improve on his current Festival victory roll of 27 winners.

The ball was set rolling when Call Equiname landed the Queen Mother Champion Chase and See More Business landed the Gold Cup in 1999. Those two races have provided Nicholls with, numerically, his biggest successes at the meeting with six wins in the Champion Chase and four wins in the Gold Cup, Big Buck’s cannot be forgotten as he notched up four straight wins in the Stayers Hurdle from 2009 to 2012.

Bravemansgame will staking his claim in the Gold Cup this time, but it may well be the novice chasers Stay Away Fay and Ginny’s Destiny who offer Nicholls his best opportunities at the meeting. Paul talked Tony Elves of attheraces.com through his select string for 2024.

Form profile

Winner of five of his 14 starts and currently rated 129 over hurdles. Returned to winning form in the bet365 Scottish County Handicap Hurdle at Musselburgh (1m 7 1/2f) this month when scoring by a length and a half from Zannabad off a mark of 124.

Trainer says

He is in the County Hurdle, and it depends what weight he has got, and he would want decent ground. His main race might be the Boys’ race at Aintree.

Bravemansgame (FR)

  • 9-y-o; bay gelding

jump racing stable tours

Winner of nine of his 20 starts and currently rated 170 over fences. Has finished runner-up in his three starts this season and beaten a length and a half by Hewick on his latest outing in the King George VI Chase at Kempton (3m) on Boxing Day.

I don’t think I covered myself in glory training him in the autumn. The ground was heavy in the Charlie Hall and quite soft again in the Betfair Chase and he had two runs on very testing ground. He was staying on strongly at the Kempton and I don’t think there is a lot between him and Shishkin to be honest. He still got interfered with when Shishkin had that hiccup and winner would probably have won anyway but he got stopped there and Harry thought he ran a real solid race. We have had him nowhere near his best yet because of the circumstances in the autumn. He is right back there now and looks great and Harry schooled him last Tuesday and he jumped really good. He is going to Kempton tomorrow and having an away day working with Captain Teague. I think at 20-1 each way he is a massive price. He was second last year, and I think he is great value. Galopin Des Champs is the one we all have to beat but there three or four like Shishkin that are all on par. If he runs like he did last year, he will be thereabouts.

jump racing stable tours

Winner of three of his 5 starts and currently rated 142 over hurdles. Finished third, beaten two and a half lengths, to A Dream To Share in the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham last March. Impressed when beating Resplendent Grey nine and a half lengths in the Grade 2 Persian War Novices’ Hurdle at Chepstow (2m 3 1/2f) in October but beaten a length and a half by Minella Missile when on odds-on for another Grade 2 Novice Hurdle at Cheltenham (2m 5f) in November. Put that effort behind when scoring by a length and a half from Lookaway in the Grade 1 Challow Hurdle at Newbury (2m 4 1/2f) in December.

He is obviously a smart horse, and he won his bumper at Plumpton and went to Cheltenham and finished third in the Champion bumper. On his debut over hurdles, he won the Persian War at Chepstow, ran well at Cheltenham when finishing second and learnt a lot about him and he didn’t jump so well that day. He went to the Grade 1 Challow at Newbury over Christmas, and he stayed on dourly and won very nicely. He is going to Kempton on Tuesday to work with Bravemansgame, it won’t be anything flashy, just for a day out. He hasn’t run since December, and he is in the Baring Bingham over two miles five and also in the Albert Bartlett which we won last year with Stay Away Fay. My thinking is like normal Cheltenham and not too testing he will run in the Albert Bartlett, but we are going to leave that decision until late. I am convinced that the way he stays on in his race that the trip of the Albert Bartlett will suit him well. There is loads of stamina in his pedigree and he is very much on par with Stay Away Fay and has a bit more boot than that horse. He is a lovely horse and is going to make an awesome chaser next season.

Ginny's Destiny (IRE)

Winner of five of his 10 starts and currently rated 155 over fences. Highly progressive novice chaser who scored on his second start for the stable when beating Es Perfecto 10 lengths in a novices’ handicap chase at Cheltenham (2m 4f) in November. Followed up with a three quarter length victory from Grey Dawning in a novice chase at Cheltenham (2m 4 1/2f) in December and notched another course and distance victory when beating Theatre Man two and three quarter lengths under topweight in the Timeform Novices’ Handicap Chase in January off a mark of 147.

He is probably one of the most improved horses in training arguably and he has won his last three. He won at Cheltenham and was very good on the New course which suits him well. He has made all in his three runs and galloped on strongly up the Cheltenham hill and probably stays three miles even though we haven’t gone that far yet. He was with Tom Lacey last season and the owner sent him to us. He was so fat when he joined us, he needed his first run and the experience, and I knew he would improve massively but I didn’t expect him to improve so much from run to run. He jumps well keeps on galloping and is a smart animal. I would say he is one of our best chances in the novice chase as he jumps well and loves the course and I think he is still improving. Claudia who rides him says he is as good a Pic D’Orhy and Cliff and I were laughing at her but she might actually be right. He did a fantastic bit of work before he ran the last day and is obvious a very talented horse. He is every bit as good as Stage Star and is higher rated than him going into the Turners. He ran Trials Day and doesn’t need a racecourse gallop and he is one you can get ready at home. He is ready go.

Winner of four of his 21 starts and currently rated 157 over fences. Put up a cracking effort on his latest start in the Grade 2 Denman Chase at Newbury (2m 7 1/2f) in February when runner-up, beaten four and a quarter lengths, to Shishkin.

He is a bit of nearly horse, and he runs in the Ryanair which he finished third in and ran very well. He had a wind op in the autumn and needed the run at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day and then ran an absolute blinder against Shishkin in the Denman Chase, I was delighted with that, and I think he is in better form than he was before the Ryanair last year. He is no forlorn hope and has loads of talent. He wasn’t fully wound up at Newbury and is a lovely horse. I would say he has an outside chance.

Il Ridoto (FR)

  • 7-y-o; bay gelding

jump racing stable tours

Winner of four of his 21 starts and currently rated 147 over fences. Has been placed in all three starts at Cheltenham this season and came closest to victory in the December Gold Cup Handicap Chase (2m 4 1/2f) when runner-up, beaten a short head, Fugitif off a mark of 143. Subsequently finished third, beaten six and a half lengths, to Ga Law in a Grade 3 Handicap Chase (2m 4 1/2f) in January off a mark of 148. Finished 10th, beaten 15 lengths, to Forward Plan in a Grade 3 Handicap Chase at Kempton on Saturday.

Il Ridoto ran at Kempton on Saturday and went right-handed and it was a complete waste of time. He will run in the Plate.

Kalif Du Berlais (FR)

Winner of his threeraces over hurdles. Scored five and a half lengths from Sang Pour Sang at Compeigne (2m 1f) in October when trained in France and made the perfect start for the stable when beating Roaring Legend seven and a half lengths under an 8lb penalty in a Juvenile Hurdle at Kempton (2m) in January. Completed the hat-trick with a three quarter length victory from Givemefive in the Grade 2 Adonis Hurdle at Kempton (2m) on Saturday.

He definitely doesn’t run at Cheltenham and, if he is alright, he will go to Aintree.
  • Breeding: Cracksman (UK) - Lidiyana (FR) (Motivator (UK))
  • Next Race: Cheltenham, 12 Mar 2024 16:50

jump racing stable tours

Winner of his three starts for the stable and currently rated 134 over hurdles. Scored by three quarters of a length from Inside Man in a Juvenile Hurdle at Wincanton in October and followed up with a three-length success from Knight Of Allen in a Listed Juvenile Hurdle at Aintree (2m 1f) in December. Completed the hat-trick with a five-length win from Roaring Legend in another Listed event at Musselburgh (1m 7 1’2f) this month.

He has run three times this year and won all three. He won at Wincanton first time out and won a Listed race at Aintree on very heavy ground. We went to Musselburgh there weeks ago a made all. He is by Cracksman and hasn’t had any decent ground, but he will like that. He is in the Boodles of 134 and in the Triumph on the Friday and if you think Nicky’s horse Sir Gino is rated 145, he will have to improve 11lb or so just to compete with him. If we go anywhere, it will be in the Boodles and plenty of horses around that rated have won the Boodles. I think he has a right mark, and he will have plenty of weight at the top horse at the moment is rated 136. I will look at it closely but if the Triumph looked like ending up a small field, we might take our chance but essentially the Boodles is the right race. If we didn’t go to Cheltenham, then we would wait for Aintree but if he is in good form then it would be Cheltenham. He has run on Flat tracks but that only because they were the right races for him, and he just jumps and gallops, but you could ride him anywhere you want.

Monmiral (FR)

  • 7-y-o; black gelding
  • Breeding: Saint Des Saints (FR) - Achere (FR) (Mont Basile (FR))
  • Next Race: Cheltenham, 14 Mar 2024 14:10
  • Form: 247-744

jump racing stable tours

Winner of five of his 14 starts and currently rated 139 over hurdles and fences. Finished fourth, beaten 16 lengths, to Marble Sands in a novices’ handicap chase at Musselburgh (2m 4 1/2f) this month off a mark of 142. Finished fourth, beaten 11 ½ lengths, to Classic Concorde in a Pertemps Qualifier at Chepstow (2m 7 1/2f) on Saturday.

Monmiral only ran on Saturday and is qualified for the Pertemps.

Quebecois (FR)

  • 5-y-o; chestnut gelding
  • Breeding: No Risk At All (FR) - Miss Poutine (FR) (Chamberlin (FR))
  • Next Race: Cheltenham, 13 Mar 2024 17:30

jump racing stable tours

Scored by four and a half lengths from Matthias in a bumper at Exeter in December.

He is a nice young bumper horse and he is going to Kempton on Tuesday to work with Stay Away Fay. He is a half-brother to Brindisi Breeze by No Risk At All and he ran second in a point-to-point in Ireland and was so green. We always liked him at home, and we went to Exeter before Christmas, and he won his bumper without coming off the bridle. He was equally impressive as Teeshan and didn’t have the same reputation. He will run in the Champion bumper and is a seriously nice horse.

Sans Bruit (FR)

  • 6-y-o; bay gelding
  • Breeding: Triple Threat (FR) - Swedish Dancer (IRE) (Teofilo (IRE))
  • Next Race: Sandown, 09 Mar 2024 14:25
  • Form: 711-787

jump racing stable tours

Winner of six of his 20 starts and currently rated 132 over hurdles. Finished seventh, beaten 17 lengths, to Geromino in a handicap hurdle at Doncaster (2m 3 1/2f) in January off a mark of 134 on his stable debut.

He is running this weekend in the Morebattle at Kelso, and he is unlikely to run at Cheltenham.

Sonigino (FR)

  • Breeding: It's Gino (GER) - Soniador (FR) (Legolas (JPN))
  • Next Race: Cheltenham, 13 Mar 2024 14:50
  • Form: 13-3410

jump racing stable tours

Winner of six of his 17 starts and currently rated 143 over hurdles. Disappointed when finishing 12th of 19, beaten 30 lengths, to Jay Jay Reilly in the Lanzarote Handicap Hurdle at Kempton (2m 5f) in January off his current mark but has previously beaten Prince Zaltar six lengths in a handicap hurdle at Aintree (2m 4f) in December off a mark of 137.

He has two options at the Festival and he is the Coral Cup and is also in the Martin Pipe. He is rated 143 and the Martin Pipe is 0-145 and I would suspect he will run there, and Freddie Gingell will ride him. He has won two good handicaps this season and won at Aintree off topweight and probably had done enough when running in the Lanzarote after Christmas. Harry said they didn’t go quick enough for him, and he needs a fast run race where he can come off the pace. He has done very well over hurdles and will probably have two more runs over hurdles this season at Cheltenham and Aintree and will be chasing in the autumn and then that’s when we will see the best of him.

Stage Star (IRE)

  • Breeding: Fame And Glory (UK) - Sparky May (UK) (Midnight Legend (UK))
  • Form: 1115-1P

jump racing stable tours

Winner of nine of his 16 starts and currently rated 166 over fences. Landed the Grade 1 Turners Novices’ Chase (2m 4 1/2f) at the Festival last year when beating Notlongtillmay three and a quarter lengths and beat the same rival four lengths when winning the Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham (2m 4f) in November off a mark of 155.

He obviously won the Turners last year and he needs to be fresh and needs to be right. He is not the easiest horse to train as he has issues but when he is right, he is very good. He obviously won the Paddy Power Gold Cup off top weight very nicely despite making a horrific mistake at the last and managed to gallop all the way to the line. I wish I hadn’t run him on New Year’s Day on that testing ground under top weight and I don’t think he was quite his best. We were struggling to get any option to run him in the country as he has to go left-handed. He has had lot of physio and bits and pieces after Cheltenham on New Year’s Day, and he is where we want him. He doesn’t need an awayday as he always goes well fresh. If he didn’t run on New Year’s Day, he would probably be favourite for the Ryanair and that is the race he runs in. He loves the New course which the race is on and he would, hopefully, go there with a good chance. You only need three or four days of dry weather at Cheltenham and the ground would go to good to soft and that would be perfect for himon New Year’s Day, it was absolutely bottomless. I am looking forward to running him in the Ryanair and he must have a great chance.

Stay Away Fay (IRE)

  • Breeding: Shantou (USA) - Augusta Bay (UK) (Oscar (IRE))
  • Form: 214-113

jump racing stable tours

Winner of four of his 7 starts and currently rated 159 over fences. Made a winning debut over fences when beating The Changing Man a length and a half in a novices’ chase at Exeter (3m) in November. Followed up with a length and a half victory from Giovinco in a Grade 2 Novices’ Chase at Sandown (3m) in December. Did little wrong when third, beaten three and a half lengths, to Capodanno in the Grade 2 Cotswold Chase at Cheltenham (3m 1/2f) in January.

He won last year’s Albert Bartlett, and he has had a good season novice chasing. He improved enormously from finishing second in the River Don at Doncaster before going to the Albert Bartlett and we hope he show that again to run him in the Brown Advisory. He is definitely taking a step forward; he won nicely at Exeter and Sandown and ran a good race in the Cotswold Chase in what was a bit of a muddling race. It turned into a sprint, but he gained some valuable experience against the older horses and at the weights he ran very very well. I was pleased with that, and I would like the Brown Advisory to be run on the New course which would make it a stiffer test. He is all stamina, but he will be a lot sharper than he was on Trials Day. He is going to Kempton to have a little run around with a bumper horse Quebecois just to sharpen him up and put him right. He takes plenty of work and he is quite a laidback horse and keeps finding. He is all ready to go for the Brown Advisory and is a good solid gallop. In time races like the Betfair Chase over three and a quarter miles will suit him well and he is in good shape at the moment.

Teeshan (IRE)

  • Breeding: Westerner (UK) - Miss Pepperpot (IRE) (Winged Love (IRE))

jump racing stable tours

Easy winner of his point-to-point in Ireland in October and made a pleasing start for the stable when beating Peacenik seven lengths in a bumper at Exeter this month.

Teeshan is in the Champion bumper and he won an Irish point-to-point in the Autumn very impressively and Tom Malone bought him for Johnny de la Hay. We gave him loads of time to acclimatise and he made his debut at Exeter and basically cantered round and absolutely bolted in. We have taken the decision to go to Cheltenham and he is obviously a talented horse. Last year Captain Teague won his bumper at Plumpton and went to the Cheltenham bumper and finished third and won a Grade 1 hurdle this year. I would put Teeshan very much on par with Captain Teague on his homework. He loves soft ground and travelled very well at Exeter and I would say, next year, he will follow what Captain Teague did and follow a similar sort of route. He is a smart young horse and he is so laid back.

Welcom To Cartries (FR)

  • Breeding: No Risk At All (FR) - Nasou (FR) (Kaldounevees (FR))
  • Next Race: Cheltenham, 15 Mar 2024 14:50
  • Form: 1-212

jump racing stable tours

Winner of one of his 3 starts and currently rated 130 over hurdles. Off the mark with a six and a half length victory from Ideal Des Bordes in a maiden hurdle at Ascot (2m 5 1/2f) in December. Subsequently runner-up, beaten seven and a half lengths, to Kerryhill in the Grade 2 River Don Novices’ Hurdle at Doncaster (3m 1/2f) in January.

If Captain Teague runs in the Albert Bartlett, he will wait and go to Aintree. If it came up testing ground and Captain Teague ran in the Baring Bingham, it could become possible.
