Apple Announces WWDC 2024 Event for June 10 to 14
Apple today announced that its 35th annual Worldwide Developers Conference is set to take place from Monday, June 10 to Friday, June 14. As with WWDC events since 2020, WWDC 2024 will be an online event that is open to all developers at no cost.
Apple will hold a WWDC 2024 keynote event on Monday, June 10 to show off iOS 18 , iPadOS 18, tvOS 18, macOS 15 , watchOS 11, and visionOS 2. The keynote event will be available on the Apple Developer app, the Apple website, and YouTube, with Apple also planning to share videos and information all week long.
Though WWDC 2024 is an online event, Apple is once again planning a special event for select developers and students, which is set to take place on June 10 at the Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California. Attendees will be able to watch the keynote and State of the Union presentations at Apple Park, as well as meet Apple employees and attend the Apple Design Awards.
Current Apple Developer Program members, Apple Entrepreneur Camp alumni, prior Swift Student Challenge winners, and current Apple Developer Enterprise Program members can enter to attend the Apple Park event , with Apple choosing participants through a random lottery.
Apple normally holds a Swift Student Challenge when the WWDC dates are announced, but the challenge kicked off earlier this year . Winners will be announced on Thursday, March 28. Winners will be eligible to attend the special event at Apple Park, and 50 Distinguished Winners will be invited to Cupertino for a three-day experience.
Apple will provide developers with additional information about WWDC 2024 through email, the Apple Developer app, and the Apple Developer website.

Vision Pro details revealed in new Apple Guided Tour
Apple's Allessandra McGinnis takes a new Vision Pro user through a guided tour
Apple demoed Vision Pro at WWDC 2023, and it's been giving selected journalists a walkthrough in person, but now it's released an almost 10-minute guided tour. It's done as if we are with someone being shown how to use Vision Pro for the first time, and it's a particularly well-produced video.
Presented on Apple's new Vision Pro site, the video is hosted by Allessandra McGinnis Product Manager, Apple Vision Pro. She demonstrates the functions of Vision Pro to a man, named only as Will, who is said to have never tried it before.
The video covers everything that has already been revealed about Vision Pro, such as opening apps, moving and resizing them, plus Will gets to the meditation and mindfulness app that hands-on reviewers have described.
What's new, though, is the specifics of how all of the actions are accomplished. Through Will, we are shown how to zoom into a photo, or stretch that photo out to room size, for instance.
Plus, while this is only shown briefly, the tour details how to use Vision Pro with a Mac , to have the computer's screens appear floating in the headset. And it also shows just how someone approaching the Vision Pro wearer comes into view even when the user is seemingly surrounded by images.
Apple Vision Pro starts at $3,499 and pre-orders have begun , but shipping dates are already slipping back.

11 tips for visiting Apple's $5 billion headquarters, Apple Park
Tucked into suburban California is a new tech landmark: Apple's $5 billion headquarters, Apple Park.
The stunning building is completely circular and features walls made out of glass. Inside of the building, which is one mile in circumfrence, Apple employees are busy working on the company's next big thing, like the new iPhones expected to come out this September.
This means Apple Park is a special place for Apple fans and devotees. Many flock to Cupertino, California, about an hour south of San Francisco, every day to get a glimpse of what some call "the spaceship."
Here are a few tips to get the most out of visiting where Apple's magic happens:
1. You'll probably need a car to get there.
There isn't much public transit in Silicon Valley, so tourists will need to find a way to get there from San Francisco or San Jose. A car is easiest.
2. The actual campus isn't open to the public. You can walk around the perimeter, but you can't get inside to see either the "spaceship" building or the on-campus theater where Apple launches new products.
Apple CEO Tim Cook explained why there aren't tours for the public earlier this year.
3. But there is a visitor's center that's open to the public. It's free to the public, located across the street from the campus, and there's plenty of parking.
It's located at 10600 N Tantau Ave, Cupertino, CA 95014, and you can find hours and other details at Apple's website .
4. The visitor's center is an Apple store, but there's a lot to do there, including an AR experience, exclusive merchandise, and a cafe.
5. Don't miss the Apple Park augmented reality experience, which lets you peek into the campus through an iPad.
6. There are Apple Park T-shirts and other accessories you can't get anywhere else.
The shirts and other swag are a little bit pricey.
7. If you need a pick-me-up, there's a cafe in the visitor's center with snacks and coffee. On a weekday morning, you might see Apple employees taking meetings in the sunny cafe, and the WiFi is fast and reliable.
Here's the menu — on an iPad, naturally.
8. The visitor's center is an Apple store, so you can buy an iPad, iPhone, or Mac if you wish — or a charger if you left yours at home. There is no Genius Bar or repairs available at the Apple Park visitor's center, though.
9. It's easy to miss the upstairs roof deck, but it's the highlight of the visitor's center. Look for the Jony Ive-designed stairs.
Once you're on the roof, you get the closest view of Apple Park available to the public.
That's a glimpse of a $5 billion building between the trees.
10. It's a great place to take photos.
The best views of Apple Park are still from the air, though.
11. And if you still can't get enough Apple, Infinite Loop, Apple's old headquarters, is a 6-minute drive away.
There's an Apple store here open to the public, too. And it's where the iPhone was invented.

If you get an unexpected call from Apple Support, you’re being hacked
“just hang up,” apple’s support website says as a social engineering phishing attack goes wild..
Have you ever had an unexpected direct phone call from Apple support? I have not, and if you do ever receive one, you probably aren’t talking to Apple. The company says you should immediately hang up.
“If you get an unsolicited or suspicious phone call from someone claiming to be from Apple or Apple Support, just hang up,” the company support website states .
Don’t fall for it
Other things it warns against are suspicious calendar invitations in Mail or Calendar, annoying pop-ups in the browser, unexpected software download prompts, and fraudulent emails.
The company offers up reporting tools you can use to tell Apple if you experience any of these, and if you have had such experiences, you should report them.
What makes this advice relevant right now is a new phishing scam in operation in which people are receiving convincing looking Apple ID password reset warnings, sometimes followed by unsolicited calls claiming to be from Apple.
It’s an attempt to abuse the Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) system Apple’s devices are protected by.
What happens during an attack
- What happens is that target devices are forced to show dozens of system level prompts (basically MFA warnings sent by Apple’s Forgot Password feature) that stop the target device from working until a user chooses Allow or Don’t Allow on those prompts.
- Once the target disallows all those requests, they will receive a phone call from a number that looks like Apple Support and will be warned the user is under attack and must verify a one-time code.
- The aim of the attack is to trigger an Apple ID reset code to be sent to the target device, and to then get the user to share that code over the phone.
- If you ever receive such a code, you’ll see that alongside it you will be sent a warning not to share that code with anyone else.
- But this is why attackers work so hard to seem convincing, because if a target hands the code over, the attacker will immediately take over the user’s Apple ID and lock the user out.
- They then gain access to all your Apple ID protected data and services and can remotely wipe all your Apple devices.
These are sophisticated attacks
Critical to understanding the nature of this attack is knowing that if you are targeted by it, you have probably already been selected as an attack target. These are relatively organized attempts, and whoever is behind an attack will already have researched for some details about the victim .
That’s because they need to have the email address and phone number associated with your Apple ID. Those details may come from data brokers and people search websites, such as PeopleDataLabs, KrebsOnSecurity suggested earlier this week.
The attackers need to have sourced information about the target to come across as genuine in the all-important phone call during which they con the target into sharing the reset code. In other words, these are highly tactical, planned attacks in which hackers have assembled large quantities of personal data.
Michael Covington, VP of Portfolio Strategy at Jamf puts it this way: “MFA bombing presents a challenge to any targeted user, as they are forced to sift through a deluge of notifications with the fear of being victimized further if just one mistake is made.
“What they don’t realize, however, is that this attack is typically preceded by a successful compromise of the user’s credentials, thus allowing a hacker to initiate the sign-in process.”
Jamf recently warned that many Apple-using businesses are still soft targets for such attemps .
How to protect yourself
There are some simple ways to protect yourself against these kinds of social-engineering enhanced attacks:
- Accept that if you get an unsolicited call from Apple Support, the call is almost certainly a hoax.
- Even if you have actually requested a call, you should still ask verification questions to help confirm the call is genuine.
- If you’ve not requested a call or the verification fails, then you should just put your phone down.
- Never, ever share the reset code for your Apple ID with anybody. No reputable company will ever ask for such disclosure.
- Use strong and unique passcodes to protect your Apple ID.
- Never share this kind of information on the phone.
If you experience an attack like this, you should report them using details provided by Apple support . Reporting is a vital protection against attacks like these. If everyone does report them, Apple’s systems can more swiftly be tweaked to intercept such attacks.
Expect a security update
The second thing every Apple user should do is keep all their devices updated. Devices running older operating systems frequently carry unpatched vulnerabilities that attackers may exploit.
It’s plausible to think Apple’s security teams will react to attacks such as this one with changes in the OS to protect against the attack method. That’s almost certainly the case this time, as this attack exploits a bug that lets attackers bypass the number of Forgot Password requests allowed by Apple. I’m certain Apple’s teams are already working on securing that, unless they have already.
Finally, trust your instincts. Don’t click on links from people you don’t know, and don’t take phone calls from dodgy support entities you haven’t requested.
