Bad Bunny's "World's Hottest Tour" will mark his first-ever stadium tour.

Bad Bunny Just Announced The “World’s Hottest Tour”

Literally, he called it “World’s Hottest Tour.”

If you didn’t get tickets to Bad Bunny’s upcoming El Último Tour del Mundo , don’t worry. You’ll have another chance to see him in concert soon. On Monday, Jan. 24, the singer announced he’s embarking on his first-ever stadium tour, titled Bad Bunny: World’s Hottest Tour , later this year. This means he has not one but two tours scheduled in 2022.

Bad Bunny announced his latest tour just weeks before embarking on El Último Tour del Mundo , which kicks off in Denver on Feb. 9 and ends in Miami on April 3. This tour went on sale last April. Billboard reports Bad Bunny sold 480,000 tickets in less than a week . According to a press release from Live Nation, this makes El Último Tour del Mundo the fastest-selling tour on Ticketmaster since 2018.

As for his second tour of the year, Bad Bunny will perform in various cities across the United States and Latin America. So if you’ve been eager to see him perform live on tour, now’s your chance to get tickets. Here’s everything you need to know about Bad Bunny’s 2022 World’s Hottest Tour before it arrives.

When will Bad Bunny’s World’s Hottest Tour begin?

Bad Bunny’s tour will take him across the U.S. and Latin America. The U.S. leg of Bad Bunny’s World’s Hottest Tour will kick off in Orlando, Florida, on Aug. 5. His Latin American tour dates begin with a concert in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, on Oct. 21.

Which cities will Bad Bunny visit on his World’s Hottest Tour ?

Bad Bunny will perform in so many different cities. In the U.S., this includes such cities as Miami, Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles. In Latin America, Bad Bunny is stopping in Lima, Panama City, San José, and Mexico City among others.

Bad Bunny's World's Hottest Tour will mark his first-ever stadium tour.

Following his initial tour announcement on Jan. 24, Bad Bunny revealed on Jan. 31 he added six additional stadium shows in the U.S. due to overwhelming demand. They include second stops in Miami, New York, Houston, San Diego, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles.

Bad Bunny's World's Hottest Tour will mark his first-ever stadium tour.

When do tickets go on sale for Bad Bunny’s World’s Hottest Tour ?

Pre-sale tickets for Bad Bunny’s six additional concerts will go on sale on Wednesday, Feb. 2, at 12 p.m. local time. Afterward, tickets for the general public will go on sale on Friday, Feb. 4, at 12 p.m. local time on worldshottesttour.com .

Who are the opening acts for Bad Bunny’s World’s Hottest Tour ?

The Grammy-nominated DJ and record producer Alesso (who recently dropped a new song “When I’m Gone” with Katy Perry) will be joining Bad Bunny on his stadium tour on select dates. So will Grammy-nominated DJ, songwriter, and record producer Diplo.

2022 is going to be such a huge year for Bad Bunny!

Bad Bunny is asking fans to register for the Most Wanted Tour sale to:

  • Help block bots and scalpers
  • Get more tickets to real people who want to attend the show
  • Reduce resale (only 5-10% of tickets using registration are resold vs 20-30% of others)

Registration does not guarantee access to the sale, or to tickets. We expect there will be high demand for this tour meaning that only a limited number of fans will be randomly selected to get access to the sale based on ticket availability. Every fan who successfully registers will have a chance to be selected.

How do I register?

It’s simple: just sign in and choose your show(s).

Here’s what happens next:

SAME DAY: You’ll get an email confirming your registration within 24 hours.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 24: You’ll get a second email in the evening telling you if you were selected to get access to the sale or waitlisted.

  • If you’re selected, you’ll also get a text with your unique access code to use for the sale.
  • If waitlisted, you might still have a shot later if any tickets remain.

How do I register for the Bad Bunnys Most Wanted Tour sale?

Registration will be open at registration.ticketmaster.com/badbunny2024 until Sunday, October 22 at 11:59 PM ET.

Will I be more likely to get access to the sale if I register early?

No. It’s not a race. The selection process is random, and fans can register any time for a chance to access the sale.

When do tickets go on sale?

Tickets will go on sale on Wednesday, October 25 beginning at 11 a.m. local time. Tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

How do I access the ticket sale once I get a code?

Use the link in your email to join the waiting room up to 30 minutes prior to the start of your sale. When the sale opens you’ll automatically be placed in the queue and when it’s your turn to shop you’ll hear an alert and then be asked to enter your unique access code.

Please note, ONLY fans who were selected to receive a code will be able to join the waiting room and queue. Once in the sale, tickets are first come, first served.

When should I expect my access code?

If you are selected to join the sale, you’ll get a text with your unique code and a sale link the evening before your sale begins.

Can I transfer my code to someone else?

No, codes are unique to the account they’re issued to and won’t work if shared.

What are the age restrictions for the event?

This event is all ages.

Tickets have gone on sale, I registered and never received my code?

Registering does not guarantee you will receive a unique access code. You should have received a confirmation email on the day you registered and a second email on Tuesday, October 24 telling you if you were selected to get a code or waitlisted.

Why didn’t my code work?

You may have maxed out your six (6) ticket per account limit. Due to demand, all events have a ticket limit to allow more fans like you to get tickets.

What happens if I’m waitlisted?

If tickets remain after the initial sale you may get another shot. In that case, you’ll receive an email or text with additional details.

Why is the artist choosing to use registration?

Registration helps block bots and scalpers from the sale and gives everyone who successfully registers a shot at getting access.

I’m a real person — not a bot or reseller. Why didn’t I get access?

Selection is random and not a measure of how big a fan anybody is. There were more fans registered than there are tickets available for this tour so a limited number of fans get access to sale, and others must be placed on the waitlist. The number of fans who receive access depends on the number of tickets currently available — this is done to help create a less crowded ticket shopping experience for fans.

Bad Bunny está pidiendo a los fans que se registren para la venta de Most Wanted Tour para:

  • Ayudar a bloquear bots y revendedores

¿Cómo me registro?

¿Puedo transferir mi código a otra persona?

The event stated that it would begin at 7pm. It didnt start till almost 9pm. It would be helpful if the start time was more accurate. Overall, it was a good performance. Wish there was some performance before the concert. I did enjoy how the effects were presented, love the bracelets that were on the seats. The surprised guest fantastic. Will I come to another concert of Bad Bunny, probably not for a long time. Hoping that he comes out with more surprises later in the future.

After selling out his 36-date El Ultimo Tour Del Mundo arena tour in record time, and before even playing a single show from that tour — which kicks off Feb. 9 — Bad Bunny is announcing an ambitious 29-date stadium tour for 2022.

Promoted by Live Nation and CMN, Bad Bunny: World’s Hottest Tour kicks off Aug. 5 at Campus Stadium in Orlando, and will make 15 U.S. stops, including Yankee Stadium in New York, Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, and Fenway Park in Boston.

Billboard's Greatest Pop Stars of 2021: No. 10 -- Bad Bunny

See latest videos, charts and news

That’s very good news for the thousands of fans who weren’t able to score tickets for El Ultimo Tour del Mundo, which sold out in days. The World’s Hottest Tour also comes with a bonus: In the U.S., Bunny will feature DJ Alesso as a guest for 11 dates, and Diplo as a guest at two dates, including the final show at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles Sept. 30.

The tour then continues to Latin America for 14 stops in October, including Estadio Velez in Buenos Aires and Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.

Tickets will go on pre-sale Wednesday (Jan. 26) at 12 p.m. via worldshottesttour.com , and goes on sale to the general public on Friday, Jan. 28, also at 12 p.m.

The tour announcement was followed very quickly by a new album announcement, which Bad Bunny made via a video on Instagram reels.

Bad Bunny’s tour may be the most ambitious for a Latin artist ever in the U.S. But then again, the Puerto Rican star has been on a record-breaking streak for the past three years. Bunny (real name Benito Martínez Ocasio) was the top selling Latin artist of 2021 for the third consecutive year, according to MRC data, and the most streamed artist globally on Spotify for the second consecutive year. He is also the first artist to place an all-Spanish album at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 .

On the live front, in 2021 Bunny sold 480,000 tickets and grossed $84 million in a single day when his 2022 El Último Tour del Mundo tour went on sale. It became Ticketmaster’s top-selling tour for a first day since Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s On the Run II Tour in 2018.

In December 2021, Bunny played back-to-back shows at Hiram Bithorn Stadium in Puerto Rico, staging a festival-like performance that included multiple stages and environments. Whether this will serve as the template for Bunny’s upcoming stadium tour remains to be seen.

All tour dates are listed below.

Bad Bunny Announces World's Hottest Tour For Summer 2022

With special guests Alesso and Diplo.

It’s shaping up to be a major year for Bad Bunny. After selling out his first headlining tour since 2020, El Último Tour Del Mundo, in record time — the Puerto Rican superstar is now extending his trek around the world by announcing a new 29-date stadium tour set to take place during the summer of 2022 in the U.S. and Latin America.

World’s Hottest Tour, Bad Bunny’s first-ever stadium-sized tour, will kick off just four months after he wraps up El Último Tour Del Mundo, which is set to begin at the beginning of Feb.

Come Aug. 5, Bad Bunny will embark on the U.S. leg of World’s Hottest Tour with performances set at major arenas across the U.S., including Atlanta’s Truist Park, Boston’s Fenway Park, Chicago’s Soldier Field, New York City’s Yankee Stadium, and Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium. And there’s more: Bad Bunny is also inviting DJs Alesso and Diplo to open select dates on the road.

The Latin America leg of the tour will commence shortly after in October, with shows in Dominican Republic, Chile, Argentina, Ecuador, Colombia, and more, before ending with two shows in Mexico.

Announcing the new shows via Instagram Reels , Bad Bunny also revealed that a new album is on the way: “While I work on my new album, you can buy tickets for my next tour,” he said. The album will be his first major release since 2020’s El Último Tour Del Mundo .

See everything we know about World’s Hottest Tour, including the full dates, openers, and how to buy tickets, below.

Bad Bunny announces 15-city U.S. stadium tour, including Petco Park concert. Here are all the dates

Bad Bunny and Shakira

The Puerto Rican superstar, who was 2021’s most-streamed artist, will be the first reggaeton and Latin trap music act to headline a stadium concert at San Diego’s Petco Park. He also performs in February at Pechanga Arena

San Diego’s Petco Park has hosted concerts by everyone from the Rolling Stones, Metallica and Taylor Swift to Billy Joel, Madonna and Green Day, but never by a reggaeton or Latin trap music artist.

That will change on Sept. 17 when Puerto Rican-bred superstar Bad Bunny headlines at the stadium, the home of the San Diego Padres.

The concert here, which will feature an opening set by Alesso, is one of 15 U.S. stadium shows the 27-year-old San Juan native will perform as part of what is being billed as “Summer’s Hottest Tour.” Alesso and Diplo will alternate as opening acts.

Intriguingly, Bad Bunny’s summer tour will come just months after his 25-city “El Último Tour del Mundo 2022,” which includes a nearly sold-out Feb. 23 concert at San Diego’s Pechanga Arena. This makes him the first artist in memory to headline an arena and stadium show here in the same year, let alone within barely seven months.

Tickets for Bad Bunny’s new “Summer’s Hottest Tour” go on sale to the general public on Friday. The tour opens Aug. 5 in Florida at Orlando’s Camping World Stadium and concludes Sept. 30 in Los Angeles at Inglewood’s SoFi Stadium.

Other cities on the itinerary, which appears in full later in this article, include Atlanta, Boston, New York, Houston, Oakland, Las Vegas and Washington, D.C. A series of 14 concerts in Latin America will follow

Bad Bunny (real name: Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio) is 2021 and 2020’s most-streamed artist in the world on Spotify, topping Taylor Swift, the K-Pop juggernaut known as BTS, Drake and Justin Bieber.

The more than 9.1 billion streams his songs received last year are all the more notable considering that, unlike Swift, BTS, Drake and Bieber, he did not put an album in 2021. Even so, three of his previous releases “El Último Tour Del Mundo,” “Yhlqmdlg” and “X 100pre” were, respectively, the world’s No. 1, No. 2. and No. 4 best-selling Latin music albums of 2021.

Tickets for Bad Bunny’s “World’s Hottest Tour” go on sale to the general public at noon Friday and are priced from $55 to $496 each, plus service fees. They will be available online only through ticketmaster.com and there will be an 8 ticket per customer limit. Tickets will not be sold at the Petco Park box office.

There will be two pre-sales through Ticketmaster. The first, for Padres season ticket-holders and Live Nation registered users, is Thursday from noon to 10 p.m. The second, for Padres registered users, is Thursday from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Limited Padres premium suite seating will be available through padres/com/concerts. Those prices have not been announced yet.

Bad Bunny's Most Wanted Tour: Everything to Know

Bad Bunny

Get all the details on the Puerto Rican superstar's fifth concert tour, including the dates and setlist.

Bad Bunny  has officially kicked off his highly anticipated Most Wanted Tour!

The 29-year-old Puerto Rican superstar launched his fifth concert tour on Feb. 21 in Salt Lake City, Utah, and on Saturday, he took over San Francisco's Chase Center for his second sold-out show at the venue.

ET was on hand for the concert, which was a departure from his 2022 record-breaking tour,  El Último Tour del Mundo . Unlike the last tour -- which amassed over $435 million, according to  Billboard ,  and featured more upbeat party hits -- Bad Bunny fully embraces his "King of Latin Trap" title as he returns to his trap music roots by performing songs from his latest album,  Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana.

Bad Bunny's concert was full of surprises from start to finish. In addition to the updated setlist, the show features three different stages (including a floating catwalk), a full orchestra, inclusive choreography, a ton of pyrotechnics, incredible light shows, and even a real-life horse.

During the second act of the show, Bad Bunny makes his way to one of the stages on horseback as part of the tour's Wild West theme. In fact, PETA recently slammed the musician for the concert stunt, telling Newsweek ,  "Horses are extremely skittish individuals, and they're not props to be ridden across a stage amid flashing lights, booming music and noisy crowds. As they're easily spooked, this could have ended in tragedy, all for an absurd and thoughtless gimmick." The "Where She Goes" rapper has yet to issue a public response.

While the majority of the concert consists of Bad Bunny singing hit after hit, the performer does take a moment during the middle of the show to share his appreciation for his fans.

"I want to thank you for being here tonight once again. San Francisco, thank you for being here. I appreciate it so much," he told the crowd in Spanish, before asking how everybody was feeling.

As the crowd cheered, Bad Bunny continued: "With this place full of so many people, it is impossible for each of you to be feeling good. It's impossible. I am 100 percent sure that perhaps many of you tonight are going through a situation in your lives, a concern, a difficult moment, but either way, you came out... you left your problems outside and are here spending the night with me... Thank you very much. You guys also make me feel better, so thank you."

Bad Bunny has long been open about his mental health struggles , and during his performance on Sunday, he spoke about how some days are harder than others, saying some days he wakes up not wanting to do anything, and other days, he feels like "moving the world."

"It's part of life," he told the audience. "We have those moments where we're not totally OK. It's part of the day-to-day process."

Following his only speech of the night, Bad Bunny transitioned into an acoustic set, accompanied by a piano, before closing out the show with some of his more popular hits, including "Dakiti," "Me Porto Bonito," and "Where She Goes."

Music and concerts, music and concerts | puerto rican star bad bunny’s saturday concert at target center is canceled.

Bad Bunny sings into a microphone.

Due to “unforeseen circumstances,” Saturday night’s Bad Bunny concert at Target Center has been canceled.

As of Thursday morning, the event was deleted from the Minneapolis basketball arena’s website, while Ticketmaster’s listing reads : “No action is required to obtain a refund. It will be processed to the original method of payment used at time of purchase, once funds are received from the Event Organizer, which is usually completed within 30 days.”

A Target Center representative did not respond when asked for further comment. Slow ticket sales may have led to Saturday’s cancelation. Earlier in the week, Ticketmaster’s website showed roughly half of the tickets were still available.

The 30-year-old Puerto Rican rapper/singer is the first non-English language act to stand as Spotify’s most streamed artist of the year, a role he held from 2020 to 2022, the latter of which also stands as the second biggest streaming year of any artist in Spotify history.

He headlined Minneapolis’ State Theatre in 2018 and began selling out U.S. arenas the following year. In 2022, the three-time Grammy winner set a record for the highest grossing tour in a calendar year, earning $435.38 million across 81 shows. Ed Sheeran previously held the record with $432.3 million in 2018. His current outing has sold out more than a dozen shows so far, including two nights in Las Vegas, Phoenix and San Francisco and three in Los Angeles.

Bad Bunny’s tour, which includes both a live horse and orchestra, has earned warm reviews, with the San Francisco Chronicle noting “it managed to feel pared down and raw, despite its slick, shiny moments” and the Arizona Republic praising its “epic, career-spanning set.”

artist performs on stage

Just two days before a planned concert in Minneapolis, reggaeton musician Bad Bunny canceled his show. The Grammy-winning Puerto Rican artist was to perform at Target Center on Saturday.

Shortly after Target Center removed the event from its website , Ticketmaster, the official ticket distributor for the concert, announced the cancellation of the show.

“Unfortunately, the Event Organizer has had to cancel your event,” the announcement read. “No action is required to obtain a refund. It will be processed to the original method of payment  used at time of purchase, once funds are received from the Event Organizer, which is usually completed within 30 days.”

Fans who purchased tickets to see Bad Bunny will have to change their plans.

“I’m pretty bummed out,” said Bella Gurciullo, who got four tickets to go with her boyfriend and his two sons. She said even though she could go to Miami, where her boyfriend’s family lives and where Bad Bunny will perform May 24-26, she would like to get a refund.

His last show in the Twin Cities was in 2018 , and many Minnesota fans have waited years to see him perform again.

“I’m five months pregnant and traveling to another city might be a little tricky,” Gurciullo said. “It’s frustrating because his team canceled two days before the show.”

If tickets were transferred or bought from a verified resale, the refund will go to the person who originally purchased the tickets from the platform.

Gurciullo said she had to call Ticketmaster to make sure she didn’t buy a resale ticket.

“Thankfully I didn’t,” she said. “People should really read the fine print and pay for the protection on tickets.”

As of now, “The King of Latin Trap” has not commented on the concert cancellation and it is not yet known if the show will be rescheduled.

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah − After announcing a break in 2023 to focus on himself, the most wanted man is back onstage and more ambitious than ever.

Bad Bunny 's tour kick-off in Salt Lake City, Utah, at the Delta Center sports arena , can only be described as this: a marathon. At only 29, the Puerto Rican superstar already has a catalog of five studio albums, the latest release being "Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana," to curate a no-skips set list.

For his first show of the Most Wanted tour, Bad Bunny − or Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio − didn't hold back on performing all but three songs ("LOS PITS," "EUROPA :(" and "ACHO PR") off his new album, and then some.

Bad Bunny split the show into three acts, performing first his "Nadie Sabe" tracks, then after an interlude, he took it back to his trap roots, and before performing a few acoustic tracks, he ended the night with un perreíto.

Performing a total of 37 songs, not including the orchestra that introduced him at the top of the night before segueing into "Monaco," Bad Bunny showed fans that as elusive as he may be, Benito isn't going anywhere.

Bad Bunny's next stop in his 31-city Most Wanted tour is three nights in Los Angeles' Crypto.com arena March 13-15.

Bad Bunny

As Bad Bunny ‘s “Most Wanted Tour” made its first of three stops at L.A.’s Crypto.com Arena Wednesday night, fans dressed in western-themed getups gathered to witness the return of the Puerto Rican megastar for his first outing since his eye-popping “World’s Hottest” stadium run . Split into four separate acts, this production felt much more theatrical than his last, as proven by the intricate pyrotechnics and the orchestra — which served as a 10-minute opening act — nestled onto one of two crescent-shaped stages on either side of the arena.

With Bunny — or Benito Martínez Ocasio, as he later introduced himself — on one stage and the orchestra on the other, a sea of fans filled the remaining middle ground of the floor. The singer would spend much of the night moving from one side to the other, and the latter half of Act II balancing atop a floating catwalk that rotated, placing him face-to-face with the fans seated in the upper sections of the arena. One (or both?) of the stages also had risers, making pretty much any seat in the house a good one.

Maybe it’s the volume of subject matter, or the fact that he’s at the height of his fame, but Bunny performed with a swiftness that left little room for improvisation. Act I is composed of fast-paced and seamless trap music following the tracklist of “Nadie Sabe” — a signal that re-established the warning sign emblazoned on the first poster we saw for this tour: “If You’re Not a Real Fan, Don’t Come.”

After dominating the mainstream with his historic “Un Verano Sin Ti,” Bunny retreated to his roots with “Nadie Sabe,” finding comfort in his “day one” fans, whom he regularly thanked throughout the show. Before launching into Act II, a short film was played, introducing Bunny’s masked cowboy alter-ego. It included a short speech about how he embraces being alone, since that has helped inpire the good and bad ideas that lead him to write music, “creating light from darkness.” Bunny then appeared from the side of the stage atop a horse, wearing a fringed-out baby-blue outfit that he stayed in for the remainder of the night.

Despite his relentless emphasis on trap, the compact — for Bunny, anyway — two-and-a-half-hour show closed with a treat for fans of his raging reggaeton hits, including “Safaera,” “Yo Perreo Sola,” “Efecto,” and even “Me Porto Bonito.” Nearly all of the audience was suddenly on their feet, and it seemed as though every colorful laser and floating fluorescent light in the space lit up to reveal a sea of ecstatic faces. Streamers, confetti, and splashes of overpriced beer and mixed drinks went flying into the air.

What Bad Bunny does next remains to be seen, but if this concert trek is any indication, it’s clear his listeners — old or new — are more than eager to follow him wherever he may choose to venture.

Does bad bunny's concert raise the twin cities' stakes as a latino music market.

He was only 23 at the time and had yet to crack the Billboard charts. Nonetheless, when Bad Bunny performed at El Nuevo Rodeo nightclub in Minneapolis in 2017, his local opening act put out a warning to everyone who would listen.

"You're never going to have the chance to see him in a venue this size again," St. Paul rapper María Isa remembers saying.

Turned out, Minnesota fans would not have a chance see the "Lo Siento BB" and "Dakiti" hitmaker in any local venue for six years.

After a State Theatre gig in 2018, Bad Bunny would skip the Twin Cities on all his subsequent tours as he skyrocketed from his first No. 1 U.S. hit ("I Like It") to winning three Grammys and breaking a Spotify record for all-time most-streamed album (2022′s "Un Verano Sin Ti," with nearly 16 billion streams). Some Twin Cities fans trekked to Chicago's Soldier Field to see the Puerto Rican rapper in 2022, since that was the closest that year's tour came to Minnesota.

At last, though, Bad Bunny is finally returning to Minneapolis to headline Target Center on Saturday as part of his aptly named Most Wanted Tour.

María Isa, for one, thinks the show is long overdue — as is the Twin Cities' rising status as a sizable market for Latino music tours in the eyes of the concert industry, an idea this tour date supports.

"Minnesota is catching up," said the rapper-turned- state-legislator , aka Rep. María Isa Pérez-Vega, from St. Paul's West Side. "The numbers don't lie."

Bad Bunny's concert is part of a string of appearances by major Latino music acts at Target Center. The Minneapolis basketball arena also will soon welcome two big Mexican stars two nights apart: pop singer Luis Miguel on May 26, followed by another breakout hip-hop star, Peso Pluma , on May 28.

The local arrival of Pluma — currently gracing the cover of Rolling Stone magazine — is arguably as overdue and nearly as anticipated as Bad Bunny's return to town.

Groundwork for these tours was laid last year at Target Center. The arena took chances on 2023 tour stops by two other stars from Mexico, rapper Santa Fe Klan and singer/songwriter Carin León, as well as the first local arena appearance by Guatemalan singer Ricardo Arjona.

"We started to see an increase in conversation surrounding Target Center as an option for Latinx tours in early 2023, which resulted in [these] very successful shows," said Amy Rahja, assistant general manager at Target Center, who promised at least one more big Latino music concert to be announced there this year.

"The attendance for these shows demonstrated that Latinx music has a huge fan base in Minneapolis, which will definitely help cement the market as a must play," Rahja said.

That fan base obviously extends to St. Paul, too, where last month's Trilogy Tour date with Enrique Iglesias, Pitbull and Ricky Martin at Xcel Energy Center saw its biggest attendance of any city up to that point three weeks into its 2024 run.

"That concert beautifully bridged cultures and showcased what Minnesota's population looks like in 2024," said María Isa, who attended the Trilogy show to hand Martin a Minnesota House proclamation thanking him for post-Hurricane Maria charity work in his native Puerto Rico. She said the Trilogy crowd featured "not just a strong mixture of Latinos who showed up, but a strong showing by Anglo fans of these Latino artists."

About 345,000 residents of Minnesota identified as Latino in the 2020 U.S. Census, a number believed to be underreported. With nearly 200,000 of those residents living in the Twin Cities, Minneapolis and St. Paul now ranks at No. 42 among rankings of U.S. metropolitan areas — not exactly top tier.

However, that population skews young. About 37% of Latinos listed in the census were under the age of 18, compared with only 23% in the general population. One in 10 kids in Minnesota are now Latino, according to the census data.

That's a lot of ticket-buying concertgoers coming of age, in other words.

One of the reasons the Twin Cities might have been overlooked by Bad Bunny and Peso Pluma's handlers and other Latino music booking agents in recent years could be because of what radio DJ Terrell LaMarr called "a separation between the media, marketing and event spaces" with Spanish-speaking music fans.

"The English-speaking market has the resources and capabilities that the Latino, Spanish-speaking market doesn't have, and it can promote a show like Bad Bunny and Peso Pluma coming to Target Center," said LaMarr, co-host of the twice-weekly show "Radio Pocho" on community station KFAI (90.3 FM). "But they don't quite know how to reach the people who don't get their information from those mainstream resources."

"Radio Pocho" co-host Miguel Vargas — one of the Twin Citians who traveled to Chicago to see Bad Bunny's 2022 tour in lieu of a date here — echoed the idea that there has been too much disconnect between Latino music fans and the local concert industry.

"If a venue doesn't feel like they can tap into that [Spanish-speaking] market, then they don't want to take a risk on a show if they don't feel they can promote it correctly," LaMarr said.

Thus, artists like Bad Bunny and Peso Pluma maybe have a hard time finding Twin Cities venues between the sizes of El Nuevo Rodeo and Target Center as they graduate to bigger rooms in other U.S. cities.

Target Center's booking rep admitted there has been a learning curve in promoting Bad Bunny and other Latino tours — and she welcomed it.

"We have an opportunity to dig deeper into this genre of music, explore the subgenres within and how to reach their respective fans," Rahja said. "Discovering best practices in marketing Regional Mexican vs. reggaeton vs. Latin pop is important and something our team is really leaning into."

Both Vargas and LaMarr said things are improving and "more of a middle ground" is being created locally for younger Latino artists to perform on their way up the venue ladder before getting to Target Center.

Some of the upcoming Twin Cities concerts that these champions of innovative Latino music pointed to in the coming months to check out include: Chilean hip-hop star Ana Tijoux at the Cedar Cultural Center on Friday; MexiCali rocker Reyna Tropical at First Avenue, May 17-18 (opening for Portugal. the Man); Los Angeles psychedelic tropicália band Chicano Batman with Colombian Canadian singer Lido Pimienta at the Uptown Theater on May 18, and jazzy Brazilian star Céu at the Dakota on May 22.

"I hope we get more artists to come here when they're still small and working their way up," LaMarr said, pointing back to Bad Bunny.

"We shouldn't have to wait until you become the most-streamed artist in the world to get another show here."

When: 8 p.m. Sat.

Where: Target Center, 600 1st Av. N., Mpls.

Bad Bunny sues fan over 'bootleg' YouTube videos and alleged copyright infringement

Bad Bunny performs during the Most Wanted Tour

Bad Bunny has sued a concertgoer who refused to take down videos posted to YouTube containing “substantial portions” of his recent show in Utah, according to a lawsuit filed by the reggaeton artist.

The rare legal dispute over copyright infringement, fair use of an artist’s work and the promotional value of fan videos online was triggered by a response from the YouTuber who posted the videos.

The complaint filed in a federal court in California last week alleges that Eric Guillermo Madroñal Garrone, the founder and owner of the YouTube channel MADforliveMUSIC, was asked to remove 10 videos featuring several of Bad Bunny’s full songs from his concert at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City on Feb. 21.

The videos contained “unauthorized bootleg” footage that infringed on Bad Bunny’s copyrights, the complaint alleges, prompting the singer to submit a takedown request through YouTube to have the videos removed from the platform.

Madroñal Garrone responded to the request with a formal counternotice defending his right to post the videos, citing his rights to freedom of expression and arguing the footage showed a “newsworthy event of high public interest,” according to evidence attached to the complaint by Bad Bunny’s attorneys.

Bad Bunny’s Salt Lake City concert served as the kickoff of his Most Wanted Tour in North America.

Following Madroñal Garrone’s response, YouTube notified Bad Bunny the platform would not be able to proceed with the takedown request unless he responded with evidence of legal action, according to evidence attached to the complaint by Bad Bunny’s attorneys.

As of Thursday, the MADforliveMUSIC YouTube channel was not available. It’s unclear if Madroñal Garrone had monetized the contents of his channel.

A YouTube spokesperson told NBC News the "account in question was terminated after we received multiple third-party claims of copyright infringement."

"Per our  policies , channels that receive three strikes within a 90-day period are subject to termination," the spokesperson said.

TikTok and Instagram pages that appear to be connected to the MADforliveMUSIC YouTube channel remain operational as of Thursday.

On Thursday evening, Madroñal Garrone, who is based in Spain, told NBC News he had "not yet received any formal complaint or communication."

"I have been aware of the case only through articles in the press and videos on various social networks, despite the fact that my legal advisors are already working on the case," Madroñal Garrone said in Spanish

Court records do not yet list an attorney for Madroñal Garrone.

Disputes over alleged copyright infringement on social media and other online platforms happen often, but they rarely escalate to this level.

Fan clips from concerts posted online and on social media are generally seen to have some kind of promotional value — creating buzz, excitement and anticipation over an artist’s performance. But the risk of serious copyright infringement rises when entire songs or shows are posted online, especially if the accounts monetize their content.

The Digital Millennium Copyright Act lets artists like Bad Bunny file takedown requests to online platforms like YouTube, requiring the site to pull down the allegedly infringing material. In most cases, especially those that include the use of extensive footage of full materials, the person on the receiving end of the request removes the material. And the dispute usually ends there.

But the Digital Millennium Copyright Act also allows users to object to such requests if they think the materials in question should be considered a “fair use” and ineligible for removal.

In the lawsuit, Bad Bunny is seeking up to $150,000 for each of the 10 songs recorded and posted to Madroñal Garrone’s YouTube channel.

Court records show a summons was issued to Madroñal Garrone on Monday.

A publicist and two attorneys representing Bad Bunny did not respond to requests for comment.
