Pune was the karmabhoomi of eminent Freedom Fighters. Social Reformers, Educationists and Great Artists Mahatma Jyotiba Phule started the education movement for women and struggled hard for upliftment of the backward class. His wife Krantijyot Savitribai Phule started the country’s 1st school for girls at Bhidewada in Pune. Freedom fighter Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak visualized the importance of Ganeshotsav festival and used it effectively as a platform to spread the message of freedom.

With its fourth edition this year, the festival is organized by Laughing Lion and would be held in Pune on May 14 and May 15, 2022, from 5 PM onwards at The Orchid Hotel, Balewadi.

After two years of a global pandemic and continuous on and off lockdowns, everybody deserves an unfiltered weekend full of laughter riots. To make the fullest of this opportunity, Asia’s biggest comedy festival – Pune Comedy Festival is back and ready to roll the city audience out of their chairs with laughter all over again.

This year, the two-day artist lineup includes big Comedy guns like Biswa Kalyan Rath, Kenny Sebastian, Samay Raina, Sapan Verma, Tanmay Bhat, Kanan Gill, Atul Khatri, and many more.

Excited for this comeback, the co-organizer of Pune Comedy Festival, Vivek Desai, said “We are back with Pune Comedy Festival 4.0 – an event which promises to be even grander than the previous one. The line-up this time includes big guns like Tanmay Bhat, Biswa Kalyan Rath, Kanan Gill, Sapan Verma, and even newer superstars like Samay Raina and Joel D’Souza.”  Vivek is also the Co-founder of the Pune Comedy Festival and has been the lead artist programmer and curator of all four editions starting from 2017.

The Pune Comedy Festival tasted success and an overwhelming response during its previous editions. They saw a cracking line-up of 40 comedians and a jam-packed audience of 15,000 in 2018, making it Asia’s biggest comedy festival. But, when the country began issuing stay-at-home orders in March 2019, Pune Comedy Festival had to turn to track cancellations rather than promoting shows.

Today, the immediate future of events and festivals is strongly dependent on how the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve. Talking about this, the Co-organizer of the Pune Comedy Festival, Ishan Vaishampayan feels the comic scene in Pune is increasing. “This is the biggest comedy platform for an artist that is available in the country. The show is a huge opportunity for budding artists who wish to make a career in the field,” he says.

Each year, the Pune Comedy Festival features a diverse lineup of rising comedians and established greats. A unique gathering of performers from all reaches of entertainment, the Pune Comedy Festival 4.0 will host a lineup of acclaimed comedians and entertainers.

This festival is mostly a conservation event of sea turtles and a celebration of their natural breeding process. There are no set dates or times when you can witness it. Image Source The festival of turtles is to embark on the natural breeding process of sea turtles that takes place on a beach in the little village of Velas in Konkan Belt. These quiet places start getting decorated and filled with the bustle of activities due to this event called “the Velas turtle festival’. It is an annual event which is dedicated to the conservation of Olive Ridley turtles which takes place in Velas beach of Ratnagiri. Around 200 km from Pune every year, the sea turtles arrive on the beach of Velas to lay their eggs which is a process of two to three months during their breeding period. The eggs get laid and then slowly start to hatch. It’s pure out of this world’s experience to watch little two-legged creatures grow out of their eggs and crawl into the ocean to embark on their life’s journey. This festival is quite celebrated and due to the huge number of visitors arriving in the town, the villagers also tend to offer visitors many other exhilarating activities and culinary experiences. All this turns this into a multi-day specialty and a cherished festival.

People come to Velas Festival primarily to celebrate the hatching process of sea turtles. Some capture the moments of these little creatures crawling their way to the sea and others come for the wholesome eco-tourism experience by the beach. Registration open for 2024 Elmira Street Painting Festival

E LMIRA, N.Y. ( WETM ) — Painters, vendors, and volunteers can now register to participate in this year’s Elmira Street Painting Festival.

The Elmira Street Painting Festival has filled the streets of Downtown Elmira with chalk art, local food and craft vendors, and members of the community every summer since 2008. The festival is scheduled to take place a little early this year on Saturday, June 8, and Sunday, June 9, and a kid’s workshop series will be held on the four Saturdays leading up to the event.

The Elmira Street Painting Festival is open to the public for free, and tickets are not required, but those who would like to participate as more than just spectators will need to register on the festival’s website in advance. Volunteers can register at any time using this link , but artists and vendors will need to register/apply by May 24. Food and craft vendors can apply to have a table or food truck at the festival using this link , and artists can register using this link .

Artists of all ages can sign up alone or as a group of no more than four. Artists will need to send a copy of their intended artwork to Elmira Downtown Development for approval, and artworks must be appropriate for public viewing, cannot contain political messages, and cannot contain advertising.
