Jabra Tour Review
Jabra is one of the biggest and most trusted names in bluetooth devices, and the jabra tour has been around for years. i've reviewed bluetooth car kits since 2014 and the tour had already been one of the best bluetooth car kits for several years..
Early Verdict
The Jabra Tour is one of the few remaining classic visor-style Bluetooth speakerphones, but it's not great for bridging the technology gap between the stereo and your phone.
The pairing process is quick and easy.
It's expensive.
Why you can trust Top Ten Reviews Our expert reviewers spend hours testing and comparing products and services so you can choose the best for you. Find out more about how we test .
Jabra is one of the biggest and most trusted names in Bluetooth devices, and the Jabra Tour has been around for years. I've reviewed Bluetooth car kits since 2014 and the Tour had already been one of the best Bluetooth car kits for several years. The fact it's outlasted so many other Bluetooth speakerphones is a testament to its quality. However, multiple studies argue hands-free calling is not safe (and it's defined as distracted driving by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration), the emphasis of my reviews has shifted from call quality to audio performance. And unfortunately, classic visor-style Bluetooth car kits aren't optimized for streaming music, though you certainly can.
The primary focus of my tests was audio performance – for drivers wanting to stream music from apps like Pandora or Spotify, how well does the Bluetooth adapter bridge this gap between the phone and the stereo? Visor-style kits like the Tour and the Jabra Freeway rely on built-in speakers. These are more in-car speakerphones than Bluetooth adapters, though the Freeway does have an FM transmitter. As such, I still tested these devices in comparison to the AUX-in and FM transmitters, but not without recognizing the difference in the technology.
For signal clarity, the Jabra Tour is okay for streaming music, receiving a C grade. The small speaker struggles to keep the performance balanced when the volume is turned all the way up. In fact, it clips a lot at full volume. Turning it down three levels was enough to provide a clear signal, but since it's not relying on the stereo to amplify the music, the music is not very loud and doesn't make for a great streaming device while driving. That said, the signal clarity is much better than the FM transmitters.
Without the use of the stereo to amplify the signal, the speaker can't achieve ear splitting levels. At maximum volume, it averaged 81-dB. By comparison, the AUX-in Bluetooth adapters and FM transmitters were reaching volumes between 96- and 103-dB.
I also tested the call quality of each Bluetooth car kit. This is what the Jabra Tour is made for. By placing the speaker and microphone on the sun visor, the drive can better hear the caller and vice versa. There's less chance for echo feedback and the noise cancellation is miles ahead of the AUX-in and FM transmitters I tested. This is a device made for hands-free calling and it succeeds here. However, hands-free calling has since been shown to be no safer than hands-full calling. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration defines it as distracted driving. So, I can't recommend this product based on call quality alone. If you're going to take a call while behind the wheel, it's best (for you and others on the road) to park first.

For functionality, the Tour is easy to use and comes with a voice guidance system to walk you through the pairing process and controls. I paired this to my phone and music player within 20 seconds of turning it on. By contrast, many of the products I tested took over five minutes just to recognize the Bluetooth device. The controls are simple and easy to identify. There aren't any multifunction buttons.
The Jabra Tour has a simple yet intuitive design with one microphone and one speaker. It's not a great device for streaming music and doesn't integrate with your stereo, so the high price is hard to justify for these purposes. It's ideal for hands-free calling, but call quality is no longer a prioritized feature because it's not safer than hands-full calling.

- This is a great bluetooth speaker for cars that aren't equipped with one.
- Very long battery life. My conversations are few and brief when I'm driving. The device tells me I have 20 hours worth of talk time before I have to recharge. That's really amazing.
- Strongly recommended to anyone who needs a Bluetooth speakerphone — or who has a dead car stereo.
- Super easy to sync with my phone and use the device.
- This is a great car speakerphone. Pairing could not have been simpler. I did it without looking at the directions, and the Tour found my IPhone quickly.
- Worked only once. Easy to pair with phone.
- Never had a problem since I bought this, and the battery last a long time. I have only had to charge it twice since I got it Dec22, 2014. Its now 1-20-15. Great product to use while driving!!! Perfect!
- It seems very well made and holds a charge a long time and voice quality is excellent.
- The battery last a very long time, but twice it has gone dead with no warning. There is a flashing blue light to tell you the unit is on, irritating at night, and impossible to see during the day.
- Also, pairing was very easy - probably the easiest I've experienced with all the various Bluetooth products I've used.
- It's large & clips nicely on my visor. Right above where I speak.
- The metal clip for the sun-visor needs to be re-designed, it is too big, I think, and much too stiff. It makes deep marks in my sun-visor's upholstry. Other than the clip it is prefect.
- A little bigger than expected, but it has to be that size to fit the speaker and buttons that aren't too small to press.
- Very good quality for the price. Considering the size, the sound is very good.
- Product size is great, sound is awesome. I will buy one for myself.
- Though the Jabra unit is small in overall size, it does get fairly loud and the call quality is okay.
- I bought one for wife as well, and what was important was the slim size/profile, as one really should not leave anything in a car these days.
- Great little device. Based on the cost and size the mic and speaker quality are excellent.
- The speaker quality is pretty good given its size. I was little worried about its size and how it would ride on our van's visor (10 years old and a bit loose). But no issues there either. You hardly notice it's there.
- Sound quality is tinny and terrible. You'd think they could have used a decent speaker for the size of the device.

- My favorite feature: It wakes up from sleep mode automatically when I enter the car. No need to switch the device on or off or re-synch every time you get in the car. It's as close to a factory feature in my car as I can imagine.
- The location services feature has an option to scan for bluetooth devices to aid in determining location.
- My favorite feature is the auto-off and motion sensitive auto-on. That means that I basically don't need to touch the TOUR, or even remember it's there, when I enter or exit the car.
- If you disconnect the announcements it disables all talking features. Commands like ‘answer’ or asking for a status won’t work. You’ve effectively told it not to talk any more. iPhone’s Siri or Android commands will still work though.
- Voice recognition works well - except when trying to call wife at work... hmmm.
- The unit is said to give a "voice" warning of low battery, but I've never hear it. (Could be it warned me when the truck was parked and I'd left the unit on.)
- Does what i need it to do not impressed with features and directions.
- One the plus side, the voice quality, mike sensitivity and noise filtering are good.
- The spoken "connected" feature eliminates any wondering about if the connection was established. The hang up feature, press the speaker once, is simplicity itself.
- Only time I had it working the volume level was kind of weak. Person I spoke with said reception on his end was good.
