One Perfect Day in Abu Dhabi: Visitor Itinerary Ideas
Do you only have a few fleeting hours in Abu Dhabi? Perhaps you’re visiting for a special event and only have a day or two to pack in as much as Abu Dhabi has to offer as you can on a stopover (psst, did you know you can get an Abu Dhabi city stopover for FREE ?!)
A typical Abu Dhabi city tour will promise to show you the best things to see in Abu Dhabi, but for people who like to go it alone or who want a more tailored itinerary, we’ve put together a few options for Abu Dhabi 1 day itineraries for you to create your own perfect day in the capital.
Top Tips For Getting About in Abu Dhabi
Abu dhabi in a day: using our abu dhabi 1-day itinerary suggestions, option 1. abu dhabi in one day for culture lovers, option 2. one day in abu dhabi for those seeking relaxation, option 3. 1 day in abu dhabi for those looking for an adrenaline rush, option 4. perfect 1-day abu dhabi itinerary for nature lovers, option 5. what to do in abu dhabi for a day for those who love shopping, option 6. perfect one day abu dhabi 1-day itinerary for those who want the best of everything, tailored one-day tours in abu dhabi.
Travel between each location in our itineraries is by taxi, which is an efficient and fairly cost-effective method of transportation in Abu Dhabi when you’re short on time, or only day-tripping from Abu Dhabi Airport . Taxis can be easily hailed at most major sites. Alternatively, download the Abu Dhabi Taxi App to make life just that bit easier.
- Some tourists may be eligible for the free Abu Dhabi shuttle between major attractions.
- Another option is to use the Abu Dhabi Hop-On Hop-Off bus . If you’re only one or two travellers, the cost of your bus tickets may be cheaper than taking taxis between attractions. It can be a fast and convenient way to cut down travel time; with 3-4 passengers, stick to taxis.
- Public Transportation in the UAE capital does exist, but with the need to buy pre-paid bus cards from particular locations, for most visitors, it’s not the most convenient way to see the city on a quick visit.
- Coming from Dubai? If you’re one day in Abu Dhabi is setting out from Dubai, do head over to our detailed Abu Dhabi day trip planning guide on our partner Dubai Travel Planner website.
These itineraries are created with an active adult traveller in mind. Of course, some options can be missed out for children or people who prefer a slower pace, but for those who want to see and do as much as possible in a single day, we think these 1 day Abu Dhabi city tour itineraries work well.
Sadly, between May and late September, it’s just too hot to do much outside of air-conditioned spaces, but most of these 1 day Abu Dhabi itineraries can be adapted to make the most of the weather.
Abu Dhabi has something to offer everyone, and taking personal tastes and preferences into account, we have created six 1-day Abu Dhabi itineraries based on distinct interests. These are:
- Culture lovers
- People seeking relaxation
- Those looking for an adrenaline rush
- Nature lovers
- Those who love to shop
- Those who want the best of everything
So whether you’re a culture vulture or a beach bod, check out our ultimate collection of Abu Dhabi 1 Day itineraries below.
If you really want to get to grips with the history and culture of this fascinating country, then this itinerary is for you. The itinerary includes:
Sheikh Zayed Mosque
Qasr al hosn.
- Abu Dhabi Corniche & The Observation Deck at Etihad Towers or The Emirates Palace
- Qasr Al Watan or the Louvre
- An evening desert safari
Start your day with a light breakfast before travelling to the Sheikh Zayed Mosque . If you arrive early (the mosque opens to visitors at 9:00 am every day except Friday), this is the best time to visit as you will beat the crowds (most are day trippers from Dubai ).
Access to the Mosque is via an underground visitor centre, where you must register and pass a security check.
There is a strict dress code for the mosque , so be sure to wear non-transparent clothing that covers you from wrist to ankle, without any cuts or slits that reveal skin. If you’re female, be sure to take a head scarf to cover your hair. If you do not have appropriate attire, you will be directed to the nearby souk (market) with the mosque complex to purchase something appropriate (they stopped lending ladies a free abaya during COVID).
Once inside the mosque, you can take a guided tour or do a self-guided tour around the mosque. Information is available from the information desk as you enter the mosque. You should stick to the designated paths and only take photographs at designated photo stops.
2 hours is plenty of time to enjoy this beautiful architectural marvel and symbol of devotion. For an in-depth guide to visiting the Sheikh Zayed Mosque click here .
You may have time for refreshments in the small mall-like area beneath the mosque before taking a 20-minute taxi ride to the next location Qasr Al Hosn & The House of the Artisans , where we would advise spending another 2 hours.
Qasr Al Hosn (along with the Al Maqta tower) is the oldest building in Abu Dhabi and was home to the ruling Al Nahyan family and was the seat of government until 1968. Built of white coral stone in the traditional style, the fort has been converted into a museum where you can find out about the history of Abu Dhabi and its people and how the fort has been used over the ages.
Note unlike the Mosque, there is a small entrance fee to visit this important cultural attraction in the capital of the UAE.
Abu Dhabi Corniche
The Corniche (Abu Dhabi’s famous coastal promenade) is within easy reach of Qasr Al Hosn (another 10-minute taxi ride) and is the perfect place to find a spot of lunch.
We would recommend having a light bite at the Observation Deck at 300 in the Conrad Hotel at Etihad Towers. Found on the 74th floor of the five-star hotel, the Observation Deck has stunning views across the city in every direction.
As well as sandwiches, pastries, and cakes, the Observation Deck serves delectable Afternoon teas (which should be booked at least 24 hours in advance if you want to partake in this special experience).
An alternative is to have a spot of lunch at the spectacular Emirates Palace Hotel, situated just across the road – famously known for its camel burgers, gold flake cappuccinos and gold vending machine!

- Day Trip to Dubai From Abu Dhabi – Transport Tips & Itinerary Ideas
After a refreshment break, head to the end of the Corniche to visit Qasr Al Watan, the presidential palace. This will take no more than 10 minutes in a taxi.
Qasr Al Watan
After a busy morning of sightseeing, you may feel that you want to kick back and relax for an hour or two, but if you can push yourself to keep going, a visit to Qasr Al Watan is well worth it. Very few buildings open to the public anywhere in the world are of this magnitude of opulence.
Everywhere you look, you are met with the most intricate of details, shiny golden sculptures, perfectly constructed mosaics, and elaborate stained glass windows. This is a place that really makes you say wow.
2 hours in ample time to explore the building by yourself. There is a cafe offering refreshments as well as a gift shop that sells stylish and sophisticated gifts.
Alternate Itinerary – Louvre Abu Dhabi
Another option for your afternoon is to visit the stunning Louvre Museum situated on Saadiyat Island. It’s another of the city’s most iconic and beautiful landmark buildings . For art and history lovers, it’s a must!
You could, at a real push, fit the Grand Mosque, Qasr Al Hosn, Louvre and Qasr Al Watan all in one perfect day exploring the capital of the United Arab Emirates, but honestly, you’ll be pushed for time and not able to fully appreciate each, so we’d choose two or three of these four important cultral attractions.
Desert Safari
No trip to Abu Dhabi is complete without a journey into the desert.
A desert safari tour is relatively easy to organise and can be booked through your hotel or through platforms like Get Your Guide. Most tours will pick you up from your hotel or any major tourist attraction, so being picked up anywhere along the Corniche shouldn’t be a problem.
Evening Safaris usually pick up guests around 4:00 pm, dropping guests back to the city around 10-11:00 pm
A desert safari usually includes camel riding, a tasty barbecue dinner featuring lots of local favourites, some form of entertainment like tanoura or belly-dancing, and the option to have a henna tattoo. They may also include dune bashing, sandboarding, and falconry.
There are many different safaris on offer, so we help you choose the best type of desert safari in Abu Dhabi in this detailed guide.
For those seeking a day of opulent indulgence, there is just one word – Saadiyat.
Saadiyat Island is home to five beautiful five-star hotels, all equipped with their own beautiful spa facilities and gourmet restaurants. Be truly pampered in 5-star luxury hotel and let your worries float away while you relax on the 7-kilometre stretch of pristine white coral sand.
Hotel Day Packages
Most hotels offer day packages that include spa treatments, beach and pool access, and afternoon tea or vouchers that can be offset in resort restaurants.
One of our favourite packages can be found at the Park Hyatt Hotel , which includes a yoga session and time for pampering a relaxation – one of the best in the Middle East!
Other Beach Options
A slightly cheaper, but still exclusive option is buying a day pass to Saadiyat Beach Club . Here you can enjoy a heated infinity pool as well as excellent changing facilities, with a steam room, sauna, jacuzzi, and cold plunge pools.
There is also a gym, hairdresser and various health and beauty treatment options on site. Not to mention several wonderful restaurants and access to the Arabian Gulf’s stunning beach and warm waters.
After a day of pampering
It’s easy to stick around for a lovely dinner too, or if you feel like stepping things up a gear, head into the city for a bit of glamour – perhaps try out a ladies’ night, or have a romantic dinner with views across the city.
Our helpful lists of top ladies nights and stunning rooftop bars will help to ensure that you have a wonderful night.
Simple! Stick to Yas Island and do two theme parks in one day.
We’d recommend starting the day with either Ferrari World (home to the world’s fastest roller coaster and many other thrilling adrenaline experiences) or Warner Brothers World (the world’s largest indoor theme park) and heading to Yas Waterworld to cool off in the afternoon.
Finish your day with dinner and drinks at the W Hotel at the heart of Yas Marina Circuit.
You may be lucky enough to see cars zooming by or local residences jogging or cycling around the track. If you want to party til the early hours, head to Yas Bay and see fire dancers at Siddharta Lounge (certain days only) or join in with some bowling fun at Central .
To really understand a country, you have to understand the natural environment, and there are many opportunities to get to grips with nature in Abu Dhabi. We suggest that you visit:
- Either Jubail Mangrove Park for a walk or Eastern Mangroves for kayaking
- Saadiyat Beach for swimming, snorkelling, and dolphin spotting.
- The desert for a true taste of the natural environment (perhaps including a trip to the fossil dunes or Al Wathba Wetland Reserve.
- Alternatively, stay in the city and visit Um Al Emarat Park.
Visit the Mangroves
Start your day with a kayak tour of the Eastern Mangroves or a stroll around the Jubail Mangrove Park (don’t forget to check the tide times – it’s best to see the mangroves at high tide).
From Jubail Mangrove Park, head to Saadiyat Beach Club or Soul Beach (15 minutes by taxi or 30 minutes by taxi from Eastern Mangroves) to experience the fine white sands and tropical warm water. You might even spot a dolphin or two.
If you want to continue your marine journey indoors rather than sitting on the beach, you could consider heading to the National Aquarium , a 40-minute taxi ride from Saadiyat Beach (13 minutes from Eastern Mangroves), in the sparkly new Al Qana development.
Al Qana is home to a lot of new restaurants as well as the plush new National Aquarium , which is home to more than 300 different species of marine animals.
Head Out Into The Desert
As the temperature drops later in the day, head out on a Desert Safari to really get to grips with the local environment. Be sure to select an eco-friendly safari that does not include activities like dune bashing, which damage the natural ecosystem of the sand dunes.
Alternatively, talk to your hotel, who may be able to organise a private driver to take you to the Fossil Dunes and/or Al Wathba Wetland Reserve (50km from Abu Dhabi, open from October until the end of April).
Sunset is a great time to visit the wetlands, which are home to a wide variety of birds, including flamingoes.
If you decide to stay in the city, head to one of Abu Dhabi’s beautiful parks for the evening.
There are many parks around the city, but you shouldn’t miss the spectacular Umm Al Emarat Park.
The park includes a botanical garden, a children’s park with a splash pad, a paddling area and petting zoo, a flower garden, beautiful fountains, great food and beverage outlets, and lots of open space to run around.
If you are in Abu Dhabi with young children, this is the ideal way to round out your perfect day in Abu Dhabi with an authentic local experience.
If time allows (really, you need a minimum of two days in the Emirate), we would also recommend a trip to Al Ain to visit Jebel Hafeet (The Green Mountain), the Green Mubazzah, and Al Ain Oasis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Stops can also be made en route to Al Ain to admire the swathes of sand dunes that flank the main road.
The Sheikh Zayed Desert Learning Centre at Al Ain Zoo is also a great place to visit. This could make a full-day trip in its own right, so it is only really advisable if you have a few days to explore the area.
Not everything in Abu Dhabi is expensive! Come and see our guide to the best places to visit in Abu Dhabi for Free (or Really cheap!)
If there’s one thing the city isn’t short on its shopping malls and ample opportunities to spend!
Unfortunately, there are no old-fashioned souks or bazaars in Abu Dhabi. The closest thing can be found on the World Trade Centre (WTC) ground floor, which occupies your site of the old souk that burned down in 2003.
Designed by Norman Foster, the WTC souk nods to tradition with its brown wooden beams and brightly coloured stained glass. Whilst you will find rows of abayas, lanterns, cushion covers, dates, and spices, it may not be the best place to bag a bargain – for very photogenic and packed with souvenir-buying opportunities.
The streets of Abu Dhabi are full of tailor shops where you can have items made cheaply; there are also lots of little gift shops with items made in China for AED 5 or 10 – the small and unassuming Hamdan Center is a treasure trove of local goodies. Not to mention the famous Madinat Zayed shopping centre, which is jam-packed full of interesting bits and pieces, as well as the city’s Gold Souk.
At the other end of the scale, if designer gear is what you’re after, head to the Galleria on Al Maryah Island , where you will find a large array of high-street stores and high-end boutiques. Al Maryah is very close to Saadiyat, so you could team up a morning of shopping with an afternoon at the beach or a spa treatment in one of Saadiyat’s 5-star hotels.
Yas Mall , on Yas Island, also contains its fair share of designer shops as well as having the added benefit of being close to all of the action on Yas Island. It also contains a multiplex cinema and the Kidzania edutainment centre – great if you’re looking for somewhere to drop the kids whilst you shop until you drop!
You could easily combine a shopping day with a theme park day on Yas if you’d like to mix a little of both the best modern Abu Dhabi experiences.
If you like the sound of the itineraries above but can’t quite squeeze everything in, then we would recommend spending the morning at the Sheikh Zayed Mosque, followed by a few hours at Saadiyat Beach Club, and then ending the day with a desert safari and Arabic barbecue.
You may even be back in time to experience the glitz and glamour of the city at night, so head to Yas Waterfront to stroll along the promenade, grab a few cocktails or dance the night away!
We hope that you will enjoy your time in Abu Dhabi. One day really isn’t enough to experience this fantastic city, but we hope that our selection of one-day itineraries has given you an idea of what not to miss!
If you’re still unsure about what to do in Abu Dhabi for a day, then a guided tour is the best option for you. There are a number of tour providers who can help you, both with Abu Dhabi full-day trips from Dubai and with tours that will cover many of the highlights from Abu Dhabi.

Abdulla Abdul Jamal. 59. Worked with Khaleej Times for 20 years. Good husband. Good father. Dedicated worker. Much loved by friends. RIP. These are plain facts and statistic. Jamal, who passed away on Tuesday at Thiruvarur, in South India, was cut from a different cloth. Like most expats from the sub-continent, he came to Dubai, hoping to mak?e? his family back home happy. As an office assistant, he toiled enthusiastically for two decades doing just that. And when he went on a small holiday to see his newly-born grandson last week, he knew of no better joy. It was the happiest moment in his life's journey. Thiruvarur district, where Jamal comes from, is as resolute, rugged and peaceful. The capital of Chola king Manu Needhi Cholan, the town breathes a legend. It is said that the king killed his own son to give justice to a cow. Very few people know Jamal came from ancient Thiruvarur, now a thriving paddy town. Fewer still are aware of the town's fairness credentials or the influence of history on one of its sons. But if one were to describe him thoughtfully, Jamal was devout, disciplined and morally upright. He elevated his role as office assistant with these qualities, becoming everyone's friend. His friendship was defined by discreteness, taciturnity and a patent silent smile. His work ethic was a guide to journalists who need a constant reminder to cope with a 24/7 regimen. Jamal used to be in office at 6am and continue beyond 10pm. His friends say he was always obsessed with the nitty-gritty of office. Is File X in the right place? Have I cleared the day's work? He may not have liked the appellation of role model, but unknown to him, Jamal had evolved into one. During his stay at Khaleej Times, he was exposed to its diverse inflection points: The rise of the young readership, the 2008 downturn, the digital revolution, the happy newspaper. It's impossible to figure out what he thought of each change; nobody asked him. Maybe, in his steadfast demeanour, there are lessons for us all. Finally, substance counts. Revolutions come, revolutions go. But the basic idea remains the same. For Jamal, it was to serve. For journalism, it is to inform. These are the values from which great ideas spring. It is these simple values which he inculcated in tiny tots when he taught them science and math, after finishing his day's work as a village post-man. That was much before he came in search of a job in the Middle East but it was enough to create a meaningful journey and a happy traveller. That journey was the road he did not take. And "that has made all the difference."

8 great reasons to visit Abu Dhabi with your kids any time
An Abu Dhabi holiday with your kids is amazingly easy to do. Direct flights from the UK take just over seven hours, year round and there’s no jet lag to worry about. As the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), it’s also the destination for stunning family resorts, many of them on equally incredible beaches. And if you’re looking for things to do, Abu Dhabi can’t do enough for families. Take a look and don’t miss our great Destinology offers on fabulous family holidays in Abu Dhabi.
We asked Experience Abu Dhabi to give us just eight great reasons to plan a family holiday in the UAE Capital. Here they are.
The Louvre Abu Dhabi museum, sunrise
Easy travel makes an Abu Dhabi holiday perfect for families
UK flights to Abu Dhabi take just over seven hours and as there’s no jet lag, it’s a blissfully easy travel experience with kids. To make it even easier, Etihad Airways offers direct daily flights year-round from both London Heathrow and Manchester Airport. In fact, more and more UK families are taking an Abu Dhabi holiday during shorter half-term, Easter and October breaks because travel is so simple compared to other destinations with similarly sensational weather.

Exploring the phenomenal Al Ain oasis, Abu Dhabi
Al Ain: the phenomenal garden city flourishing in the desert
Drive east of Abu Dhabi, away from the sparkling coast, and you might expect to meet mainly desert and rugged mountains. The emirate’s landscape is dramatic and often magnificent, but the one thing you probably wouldn’t predict was a lush, green garden city tucked into all that drama, just 90-minutes away from Downtown Abu Dhabi.
Welcome to Al Ain , the garden city and one of the world’s oldest, permanently inhabited settlements. Unsurprisingly, it’s also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an enormously popular destination with families.
Walking around Qasr Al Muwaiji fort, Al Ain
Browse markets and discover Qasr Al Muwaiji fort
- As much a vivid, flourishing oasis as a city, Al Ain is traced all over with shaded pathways which invite you to explore, contemplate or simply gaze in awe-struck wonder. And however you’re recording your travels these days, don’t forget to come fully charged to take advantage of endless photo-ops.
- Younger kids find wandering around Al Ain’s palaces, iconic forts and archaeological parks incredibly exciting. But it’s the sense of how truly ancient Abu Dhabi actually is that astonishes older children the most.
- Don’t miss the traditional Camel Market, and Al Ain’s colourful souks are where to buy (or just browse) anything from authentic crafts to fragrant spices.
- Take a tour of Qasr Al Muwaiji fort. Built over 100 years ago, this striking building is fascinating to explore and contains an excellent museum which details the rich and complex history of Abu Dhabi’s ruling Al Nahyan family.
- Visit the Eco-Centre to learn about the ancient Al Ain oasis and its remarkable hydro-engineering. Then stroll around and enjoy the lush planting, towering palms, bird song and gently flowing streams of the oasis itself.

Jebel Hafit mountain road, Al Ain, Abu Dhabi
Jebel Hafit Mountain: the Abu Dhabi holiday drive of your life
If Jebel Hafit mountain sounds familiar, it may be because you’ve seen images of the stunning road which snakes up to the summit. It’s now one of the world’s most famous drives, so it’s worth a few twists and turns to put it under your belt. Plus, the views at the top are as spectacular as you’d expect from the second highest peak in the UAE which stands at a lofty 1,920m above sea level.
Guided camel ride, Jebel Hafit Desert Park, Abu Dhabi
Jebel Hafit Desert Park: adventure in Abu Dhabi’s natural playground
Driving up Jebel Hafit is an unforgettable experience. Although, if kids want to get hands-on with adventure, that’s all going on at the foot of the mountain in Jebel Hafit Desert Park .
This has to be one of the most awesome natural playgrounds on earth. Wide open skies, monumental crags and peaks, the dazzling light and, once your gaze accustoms to the landscape, countless colours endlessly changing throughout the day. Scenic splendour aside, families love everything you can get up to here.
Exploring the Bronze Age Jebel Hefit Tombs, Abu Dhabi
Explore Abu Dhabi’s unimaginably ancient history
- The park stretches for nine kilometres at the foot of Jebel Hafit mountain and is part of the Al Ain UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- Hiking with guides is a great way to discover the park with older kids. Adventurous teens can even mountain bike here.
- Camel or horse riding are thrilling ways to explore this extraordinary landscape.
- Visiting the 5,000 year old Jebel Hafit Tombs which date back to the Bronze Age is another only in Al Ain experience kids will never forget.
See Destinology family holiday offers at Rixos Premium Saadiyat Island
Skylight Domes, Jebel Hafit Desert Park, Al Ain
Desert Glamping: add a stargazing night to your Abu Dhabi holiday
You don’t have to tear yourself away from the wonders of Jebel Hafit Desert Park at the end of the day. In fact, staying over is actively encouraged and once kids hear about Skylight Domes , the decision might be out of your hands.
Think luxurious hotel suite, only surrounded by nothing but the immense peace of the desert. Each Dome sleeps up to four, so this is a perfect adventure for families. No comfort has been missed off the list from king-size beds to a private bathroom, cable TV and WIFI, your own fire pit as well as air-con and a mini-bar.
Kids will love the vast views and complete freedom and we can’t think of any environment more conducive to gently resetting busy parents and aligning them fully with the Abu Dhabi holiday mood.

Kayaking tour around the Louvre Abu Dhabi museum
Louvre Abu Dhabi: another world first for your Abu Dhabi holiday
You’ll find the amazing Louvre Abu Dhabi at the heart of Saadiyat Cultural District . It’s the first Louvre outside France and, like the original, almost as famous for its architecture as its art collections.
Set aside plenty of time for your visit, the Children’s Museum alone will captivate your kids. Then, once you’ve seen inside, take a totally different view and book a guided kayak tour around the museum. It’s another only-in-Abu-Dhabi experience.

Saadiyat Island: the calm, cultured and beachy base for an Abu Dhabi holiday
The Louvre Abu Dhabi is reason alone to visit Saadiyat Island , however, the cultural heart of Abu Dhabi could also be the perfect base for your family holiday.
Not only is this lovely island home to some of the emirate’s best family beach resorts , it’s where you’ll find some of the best beaches, full stop. Unique in Abu Dhabi, Saadiyat’s white sand shores are punctuated by pockets of lush green and tend to be low on crowds and high on tranquillity. So tranquil that Hawksbill Turtles nest here. In fact, several of the beachfront resorts have outstanding turtle programmes geared towards engaging kids in conservation and caring for these critically endangered creatures.
Abu Dhabi has over 200 islands and Saadiyat still stands out. So even if you don’t base your holiday here, definitely dip in for the day. There’s a lot to tempt you, including Saadiyat Beach Golf Club, shopping at Mamsha Al Saadiyat and the laid-back cool of Saadiyat Beach Club.

The 13 Best Bars in Abu Dhabi
By Ann Marie McQueen
All products featured on Condé Nast Traveler are independently selected by our editors. However, when you buy something through our retail links, we may earn an affiliate commission.
Abu Dhabi ’s bar scene, while slightly more subdued than neighboring Dubai , is certainly lively, and people in the UAE capital know how to have fun. From chic brasseries to pubs full of personality, here are the best bars in Abu Dhabi as chosen by our editors.
Dragon's Tooth, Abu Dhabi
Dragon’s Tooth
Dragon's Tooth is one of the best-kept secrets in Abu Dhabi , with a classy, speakeasy vibe that takes its cues from the 1920s Shanghai jazz scene. Until recently, this low-key spot—hidden inside the Rosewood hotel at the back of its Chinese restaurant Dai Pai Dong —didn’t even have a name or a clearly marked entrance, however, it has now rebranded to become a destination in its own right. Regulars love this tiny, elegant space, where the bartenders are experts, the air is smoke-free, and the sumptuous dim sum is only an order away. Duck in for a pre-dinner drink or stop in for a nightcap—you’ll be glad you did.
Hidden Bar, Abu Dhabi
Hidden Bar
Another of the capital’s best bars is also found at the Rosewood , and has long been a favorite haunt for Abu Dhabi’s juniper-loving residents. Hidden Bar boasts the capital’s largest gin library, featuring 237 varieties from 21 countries, including a range of house-infused options (think coriander and rhubarb). It even has a fun manifesto that pays homage to this spot’s prohibition-inspired theme. Despite its name, this bar is not really hidden at all: located right off the lobby, it also has a beautiful outdoor terrace overlooking the waters surrounding Al Maryah Island. Go here for date night, fun with friends, happy-hour sundowners, or a late-night cigar.
Glo rooftop bar at Rosewood Abu Dhabi
Glo 's day-to-night poolside lounge, which occupies the third-floor terrace of Rosewood Abu Dhabi, offers some of the most impressive views in the capital, looking out across the water from Al Maryah Island. This rooftop bar is among Abu Dhabi’s most recognizable, dominated by huge metal sculptures designed to mimic the natural shape of the palm trees that line the central pool. As they illuminate come nightfall, the vibe here transforms from a relaxed pool bar to a buzzy rooftop lounge, where bartenders mix classic cocktails from the central round bar. Pull up a stool for front-row seats to the action, or get cozy in one of the plush turquoise sofas to admire the view of Downtown Abu Dhabi beyond.
Penelope's terrace
Penelope's at Yas Marina
Penelope’s Brasserie
Penelope ’s certainly elevated the capital’s dining scene when it opened during the 2022 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, providing Yas Island with a sophisticated, buoyant vibe. Here, you’ll find a regular showcase of some of the finest musicians in the region—with a particular focus on live jazz. Steeped in the laid-back elegance of the French Riviera with a stark black-and-white design, you’ll definitely want to pull up a leopard-print stool at this outdoor marble bar and soak in the atmosphere. If there is a place to see and be seen in Abu Dhabi, sitting under the fanciful string lights on this patio might just top the list.
After you’ve been here once, you’ll realize this rooftop spot at Jumeirah Saadiyat Island is the only place to watch the sunset in the capital. With the rolling Arabian Gulf stretched out in front and a cool beach breeze, The Lounge 's deck is filled with early-evening sunset chasers and late-night shisha fans in the wintertime. But this is still a great spot in warmer temperatures: Watch the day turn to night through floor-to-ceiling windows as the venue’s signature, red-hued lighting takes over while listening to smooth jazz. And, bonus, bartenders here are known for mixing the best caipirinhas in town.

Stratos revolving restaurant, Abu Dhabi
Stratos , Abu Dhabi’s famous revolving restaurant, is a long-time favorite for cocktails. Gather around the oval bar, relax in high-backed leather chairs, or take a seat at a couch table by the window for ever-changing, panoramic views of the twinkling lights of the capital. Just don’t leave your handbag on the floor, or you might not see it until it comes around again. Make sure to try one of the tea-based cocktails (or mocktails), with inspired flavorings like tamarind, muddled blackberries, and fresh thyme.
Loca is one of the busiest bars in the city and a guaranteed good time. This Al Maryah Island spot—with its red-lit bar and distinctive industrial feel—has one of the capital’s busiest ladies’ nights. Unlike at some of Abu Dhabi’s other more laid-back locations, people here dress the part. There’s also a great pub quiz, a sprawling patio, and regular live music. There's a great list of salty (and strong) margaritas and the fresh guac—prepared tableside—is a must-order snack to accompany your cocktails.
Hamilton's, Abu Dhabi
Hamilton’s Gastropub
Aside from being the only place in the capital that serves pints of the surprisingly delicious, raspberry-accented beer-wine crossover known as Hoegaarden Rosée, Hamilton’s Gastropub manages to deftly bridge the gap between gastropub and sports bar. This is a space with a focal point: the massive square bar, topped with steel beams and huge flat screens, offset by delicate suspended lighting. With wire-topped, exposed brickwork, the vibe manages to be industrial and upscale at the same time. Go here for games, hearty pub food, and a guaranteed good time.
Siddharta Lounge by Buddha Bar
The Pier at Yas Bay Waterfront has given Abu Dhabi an infusion of nightlife options, and the perfectly situated Siddharta Lounge has become a fast favorite. Kick back on a temperature-controlled rooftop, surrounded by water and twinkling lights. Buddha-Bar’s signature soft house soundtrack adds to the elevated vibe here, as does the rattan-focused decor and open marble bar, bookended by potted olive trees. Bartenders here are well-versed in their craft, shaking up Asian-inspired cocktails, as well as a menu offering non-alcoholic spirits—the Zen Zen with aloe vera juice, agave, mango shrub, mint leaves, and ginger beer is particularly refreshing.
Azura Panoramic Lounge, Abu Dhabi
Azura Panoramic Lounge
For the best views of Abu Dhabi's five-mile cliffside road, head to the rooftop of the St Regis and settle into one of the cozy sofas at Azura Panoramic Lounge . Split across three levels, this open-air bar is a popular spot for sundowners in the city, with front-row views of the capital's daily golden hour. Enjoy the change of atmosphere once the sun sets—the hanging lights dotted around the space illuminate everything with a warm amber glow. This is a popular spot for couples enjoying a cozy date night, but you'll find large groups of friends here drinking in the views on weekends too. Classic cocktails and spritzes are served alongside light bar snacks, with a relaxed soundtrack adding to the laidback vibe, which, in this busy part of the city, feels like a real escape.
This Galleria Mall spot is popular for after-work drinks with the capital’s financial center crowd. Pitch up at Bentley 's round wooden bar and take advantage of the daily happy hour offer on pitchers of sangria, which, we can confirm, are among the best in town. There’s also a stellar menu on offer if you want drinks and nibbles. The tasty, soft-shell crab bao buns will tide you over nicely.
St Regis Bar
For old money glamor, a flawless Old Fashioned, and some of the best service in Abu Dhabi, the St Regis Bar is the place to go. An evening here is quite the journey, starting in The Library, a relaxed lounge complete with a marble fireplace and book-lined shelves. Next, head to the biggest space in this three-room concept, which centers around a large wood-paneled bar sitting beneath a huge mural of young boys riding camels. It never fails as a conversation starter. If you're looking for a discreet, low-key spot, duck into one of the nooks and crannies in the back rooms, perfect for after-work get-togethers, nightcaps, or celebrations.
McCafferty’s Irish Pub & Restaurant
A lot of bars claim to offer an “authentic Irish experience," but McCafferty's Irish Pub & Restaurant —an export from County Donegal—actually delivers. The lively, colorful space has a great location too, inside Hilton Abu Dhabi Yas Island at the newly developed Yas Bay. There’s a strong selection of draughts on tap and endlessly entertaining decor, from vintage beer signs to teapots dangling from the ceiling. On weekends, partiers pack in for live music and hearty pub grub—order a pie or the fish and chips with dill tartar and mint mushy peas. Irish friends report that a visit here feels just like home, and that's always the sign of a good pub.

BAPS Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi records staggering 65,000 visitors on first Sunday of public opening | WATCH
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 14 inaugurated Abu Dhabi's first Hindu stone temple amid devotional chants and in the presence of spiritual leaders of the Swaminarayan sect.
Sumant Rai, a devotee from Abu Dhabi, said, “Never have I seen such amazing order in the midst of thousands of people. I was worried I would have to wait for hours and not be able to do darshan peacefully, but we had amazing darshan and were extremely satisfied. Hats off to all the BAPS volunteers and mandir staff.”
Pravina Shah from London gave her experience of her first visit to the BAPS Hindu Mandir and said, “I have a disability and the care given by the staff despite thousands of visitors was remarkable. I could see the crowds of people being ushered peacefully from one zone to the next.”
Balchandra from Kerala commented, “I thought I would be lost in the sea of people, but I was so surprised with how well the visit was managed. I was able to peacefully enjoy darshan, can’t wait until my next visit.”
Many devotees who visited the temple were also in awe of the mandir’s intricate architecture. The vibrant colours of clothing worn by visitors created a sea of hues, adding to the festive atmosphere. Eagerly anticipating their visit, people travelled from far and wide, having expectations surpassed by the joy and serenity they experienced.
Neha and Pankaj who have lived in Dubai for 40 years said, “We have been awaiting this moment, and the Mandir has exceeded all our expectations. It's a true marvel. We feel blessed as now we have a place to come and offer our prayers and feel the spirituality!”
Piyush from Portland, USA, “The opening of this Mandir is a testament to the UAE's commitment to diversity and inclusion. It's a beautiful representation of unity among different communities.”
Louis from Mexico stated, “The architecture and intricate details in the stones are amazing. I really appreciate getting to see the cultural heritage of India. People, come join!”
Sadhu Bramhaviharidas, reflecting on the historic significance of the opening Sunday for the public, stated, “We are deeply grateful to the leaders of the UAE, and the local authorities for the new bus services and their all round support in making this day a reality. I would also like to thank the pilgrims who were so patient and so understanding during their visit. This Mandir will serve as a beacon of spirituality and a symbol of harmony, bringing together people of all backgrounds and beliefs.”
Moreover, the UAE government's dedication to accessibility and inclusivity was further highlighted by the introduction of a new bus route (203) from Abu Dhabi to the Mandir, facilitating weekend visits and emphasising the country's commitment to fostering cultural diversity and inclusivity.

WTO fails on major reforms, extends digital tariff ban in Abu Dhabi meeting
World Trade Organization (WTO) negotiators failed to break a deadlock on major reforms on Friday despite talks extending deep into overtime in Abu Dhabi, in what some delegates said was a triumph of national interest over collective responsibility.
Talks ended early on Saturday after five days of negotiations which failed to see breakthroughs on agriculture, fisheries and other key topics. However, a moratorium on imposing tariffs on e-commerce data transmissions was extended by two years, in a relief to businesses.
"On the big ticket items that are essential for the mandate that the WTO wants to sort out, the fisheries, the harmful subsidisation, that just did not happen, because there was not the spirit of give and take," a senior European official said.
On the fifth day of the ministerial meeting, most ministers had already gone home, although India's trade minister Piyush Goyal and European Trade Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis remained until the end.
Dombrovskis expressed disappointment over the lack of consensus on fisheries, agriculture and broader reforms, and singled out India for blame.
"Agreements were within reach, supported by an overwhelming majority of members, but ultimately blocked by a handful of countries – sometimes just one," he said in a statement.
Goyal, who was a holdout on these topics, was seen smiling and shaking hands outside a meeting room late on Friday as delegates gathered in small groups next to a coffee stand.
India insisted on a long promised permanent fix on public holdings of agriculture stocks which some developed countries opposed.
"We have not lost out on anything. I go back happy and satisfied," Goyal told reporters as talks started to wind down.
Delegates had described the talks as intense and contentious at times, but WTO Director General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala sought to put a positive spin on a difficult week, telling a closing session: "We've worked hard this week, we have achieved some important things and we have not managed to complete others."
India, along with South Africa, had opposed extending a moratorium on digital trade tariffs - a move that has overwhelming support of most governments and from business - but later relented after an appeal from host United Arab Emirates.
WTO ministerial meetings have failed in the past and this year's negotiations, held in the oil-rich Gulf state the United Arab Emirates, has highlighted fissures between some of the world's top economies.
BRICS disagreement
U.S. President Joe Biden's trade chief, Katherine Tai, said in an interview with Reuters late on Thursday that if talks failed, fragmentation among the BRICS group would have contributed.
India and China, core members of the BRICS group of nations, have disagreed on key issues including on investment. India's commerce minister joined the negotiations two days after they started and after his Chinese counterpart had left Abu Dhabi.
Pacific island nations have also complained at the talks about feeling marginalized and overlooked by most major powers, arguing that proposals did not go far enough to protect fish stocks.
But Fiji's delegate earned a standing ovation at the end of the closing ceremony after urging countries to support future negotiations on fisheries.
U.S. support for global trade and multilateral groups like the WTO has been renewed under Biden. But negotiators were mindful that former President Donald Trump, who disrupted the multilateral system, could win a second term in the U.S. presidential election in November.
John Denton, who heads the International Chamber of Commerce, warned that the weak outcomes from the meeting should "serve as a wake-up call on the need for a more nuanced and constructive debate on the role of trade in society – both locally and globally. No country stands to gain from a weakened multilateral trading system."
Earlier in the week, even the formal acceptance of completed negotiations on improving investment was blocked at an organization where all 164 members must agree by consensus.
A consensus on major deals would have elevated the UAE's status as a global interlocutor, as it seeks to place a bigger emphasis on multilateralism and dialogue, a turnaround from the assertive foreign policy it was pursuing a decade ago.

We recently visited Georgia in July 2023 through a tour package which was arranged by Happy Journey Travel. We coordinated with Mr. Satish Manjunath who was very accommodating of our travel requirements. He provided multiple options and included the places we had requested to visit along with the standard tour pack places with minimal additional costs. We were a group of 4 travellers and he ensured that our hotel and flights were comfortable and within our price range. They arranged a great travel guide and driver with a comfortable vehicle who were with us throughout the trip. Overall we enjoyed the trip and would definitely recommend booking your travel through Happy Journey Travels.

FANTASTICAL". We booked our tour through Happy Journey from abudhabi. I guess that's all we had to do. Just choose and book. Rest all was taken care of by them. # airline experience was nice. Departure was from abudhabi itself saving us the hassle to travel to another emirate. # on landing in Tbilisi, a dedicated team of local representatives of the company were available 24/7 on Watsapp. #Brim hotel in Tbilisi was nice with spacious room for 4 people, good housekeeping standard and hotel staff attitude was friendly and approachable. (Tornike who was a attendant at the restaurant was particularly worth mentioning) # Now comes the highlight of the tour. Our tour guide. It is very essential to have a safe, trustworthy, genuine, well informed and a reliable tour guide in a country that is unknown to visiting tourists. GIORGI was that person. He drove us safely everywhere with well planned breaks. He was very friendly and helpful, especially great with my kids. We will miss him. Thank you for the amazing georgian hospitality Giorgi.
I am extremely happy with quick support received for UAE and EU Schengen visa. I strongly recommend to use Happy Journey services as my friends also have same professional experience.

Ireland claim first men's Test victory by beating Afghanistan
1 March 2024 1 March 2024 . From the section Cricket
Ireland earned their first men's Test victory at the eighth attempt by beating Afghanistan by six wickets in Abu Dhabi.
Afghanistan were bowled out for 218 in their second innings to leave Ireland with a victory target of 111.
The Irish were wobbling on 39-4 before captain Andrew Balbirnie steered his side home with an unbeaten 58.
Claiming a maiden five-day win after gaining Test status in 2017 is a landmark day for Irish men's cricket.
- Patience pays off as Ireland make Test breakthrough
Ireland made 263 in reply to Afghanistan's 155 to hold a first-innings lead of 108 at the Tolerance Oval.
Afghanistan started day three on 134-3 with a 26-run advantage but an in-form Ireland attack bowled them out for 218 with Craig Young, Mark Adair and Barry McCarthy each taking three wickets.
It was a small target for Ireland but two wickets in two balls from Naveed Zadran left them 8-2 before Harry Tector also fell for the addition of just five runs.
Paul Stirling made 14 after joining former opening partner Balbirnie and they put on 36 runs for the fourth wicket.
Lorcan Tucker arrived at the middle with Ireland in trouble but he impressed with an unbeaten 27 while Balbirnie carried his bat to seal an historic victory.
Ireland's women's team registered a victory in their only Test in 2000 and now the men have made the breakthrough 24 years later.
The men's team started their Test journey against Pakistan six years ago and had lost all of their previous seven matches.
"To win our first Test match - we absolutely ecstatic," said Balbirnie.
"We started the Test match really well having lost the toss and the bowling was really disciplined - we showed again in the second innings the way we bowled our lengths when it got a bit flatter for the batters against our seamers.
"To take 20 wickets in any Test match is a big achievement and it's only the second time we've done it so it's pretty special.
"With a score like 13-3 you're one partnership away. When Lorcan came in, the more time we spent out there the easier it got although there's obviously a bit of nerves when you're chasing a first Test win. Bit I knew if I stayed in there for long I could see us home.
"It's right up there (in the history of Irish cricket) - for me I've played a lot of cricket for Ireland but certainly that's as big a moment for me.
"A lot of players before us didn't get a chance to play Test cricket so fortunately we're part of that history now. We got to play and got to win."
