The Best Golf Bags of 2023

Finding the best golf bag for your game can be a real challenge. There are a lot to choose from and no one wants to waste their money on a bag that doesn’t perform. No worries, though, in true MyGolfSpy style, we’ve put a lot of bags through the wringer to help identify a winner.

We’ve collectively spent thousands of hours using and testing golf bags. Our team of testers includes long-seasoned golfers and several beginners, too. We know that there isn’t one bag for every single golfer, especially since the way you use a golf bag may vary. The right golf bag for someone who loves to walk the course is different than the best bag for a cart-fanatic. So we’ve broken the article up into these categories:

  • Best Stand Golf Bags
  • Best Cart Golf Bags
  • Best Sunday Golf Bags
  • Best Travel Golf Bags

Buying Advice: How to Choose the Best Golf Bag

The best golf stand bags of 2023.

A golf stand bag is the typical choice for those who prefer to walk rather than ride. This is because of the built-in stand system (the legs) that allows the bag to be propped up off the ground. Most golf stand bags are lighter and easier to carry. A golf stand bag may also contain a cart strap pass-through for those days when riding sounds more appealing.

Storage, walkability, weight, extra features and dividers were the top considerations when choosing the best stand bags test .

Best Stand Bag 2023: The PING Hoofer

Ping Hoofer Stand bag: best golf bags

This bag hits all the marks. Our testers agreed that The PING Hoofer is stable, sturdy and full of useful storage. We love that each pocket has a purpose, making this bag as functional as possible.

The Ping Hoofer also offers a best-in-class stand system. Between the outstanding durability and multiple color options, it’s a bag you’ll want to keep for years.

The bottom line? Everything on this bag was made with the golfer in mind.

  • Well-placed pockets
  • Comfortable to carry
  • Colors for every style
  • Sturdy stand system
  • Not the lightest stand bag 2023

The Best Lightweight Stand Bag: PING Hoofer Lite

Ping Hoofer Lite best golf bags

The Hoofer Lite offers many of the features of the standard model, in a lighter, skinnier package. It features adequate storage, with enough meaningful weight savings to easily carry for 18 or even 36 holes.

The weight savings add up over time. A sore shoulder or extra expended energy could be the difference between shooting your personal best or having the round of your nightmares. The Hoofer Lite is just as sturdy as stable as anything else in the stand bag lineup without the extra weight.

  • Lighter construction
  • Easily accessible water bottle pocket
  • Hidden rain hood placed for extra back support
  • Smooth dividers
  • Less storage to save weight

The Best Budget Stand Golf Bag: COBRA Ultralight Pro

Cobra Ultralight

The COBRA Ultralight Pro is what a stand bag should be. Nicely designed dividers make it easy to access your clubs and the well-designed pockets give you ample storage for all of your on-course accessories.

Retailing for about $150, it delivers a lot of quality and functionality for a very reasonable price tag. Sure you can find bags for less, but if you plan to golf regularly you may as well get something that will stand the test of time. And the COBRA Ultralight Pro most certainly will.

  • Ample storage
  • Solid stand system
  • Comfortable carry
  • Buttery smooth zippers
  • Some pockets lack utility

The Best Cart Bags of 2023

A golf cart bag is generally   the biggest of the golf bags that average or recreational golfers might use. These are designed to sit on the back of golf carts (or push carts). As such, they typically lack the leg/stand system of a golf stand bag.

Cart bags are beefier and feature more storage than most stand bags. They’re great for the golfer who loves to bring more than a few drinks and more than a few balls.

The best cart bags offer the ultimate protection for our clubs as they take their ride around the course. In addition, you will find premium features and lots of organizational upgrades.

The Best Cart Bag of 2023: PING DLX

PING DLX Cart Golf Bag

The  PING DLX won the top spot for the best cart bag of 2023 . We found this cart bag had pretty much everything you could ever need, including a hidden shoe pocket and plenty of deep pockets.

All of the zippers are easy to work with and the dividers (14 of them) are spacious. If you have large grips, the PING DLX will easily accommodate your clubs. The only thing to remember here is that the bag weighs eight pounds, so make sure you use a cart.

  • Hidden shoe pouches
  • Large, smooth divider slots
  • Functional pockets for maximum storage
  • Weight makes it harder to transport

The Best Cart Bag For Features: PING Pioneer

Ping Pioneer Golf bag

If the PING DLX is larger than you need, look at the  PING Pioneer .

Our favorite thing about this bag is the easy-to-access magnetic rangefinder pocket but there is much more to offer.

The dividers are great. You will find plenty of storage for your gear and a large insulated pocket with a built-in drain. With the dividers being just a little smaller and having some excess material, we noticed a pull or two when removing clubs.

  • Great dividers
  • Magnetic rangefinder pocket
  • Copious storage
  • Large insulated pocket with built-in drain
  • Excess material on dividers can cause snags

Best Premium Lightweight Cart Bag:  PING Traverse

Ping Traverse Golf Bag

The lightweight PING Traverse can be a good choice when you feel conflicted between choosing a cart or stand bag. The Traverse weighs 5.9 pounds. Even with this lower weight, there are still 14 dividers and 13 pockets, so we can’t call this a small golf bag.

The  PING Traverse took third place overall  in our best stand bag testing.

PING used the Cart Strap Pass-Through System on the Traverse, making this one a great choice for waking the golf course with a push cart. The Traverse gives you many benefits of a stand bag without making it difficult to get in and out of your car.

  • Full-length dividers
  • Insulated cooler pocket with built-in drain
  • Lightweight construction
  • Large golf ball pocket
  • Cart strap pass-through system
  • Dividers are sub-par

Best Sunday Bags

Sunday golf bags are the smallest of the bunch. These bags are a minimalist’s dream. They’re light, small, and designed to hold only a few clubs. Most who use Sunday golf bags stick to par-3 courses or executive courses where a full set isn’t a necessity.

Traditional Sunday bags are legless, “pencil-style” bags similar to the  PING Moonlite . But more and more Sunday bags like the  Sunday El Camino  are adding stand systems, pockets and extra carrying straps.

The best Sunday bags of 2023 are lighter than ever but still have room for more gear than you might imagine. COBRA, Vessel and Mizuno have what you need if you like to keep things streamlined on the course.

The Best Sunday Golf Bag of 2023: COBRA Ultralight Sunday

Best golf bags; cobra ultralight sunday bag

The COBRA Ultralight Sunday bag is the Best Sunday Bag in 2023 . Not only is it comfortable to carry but it features the perfect amount of storage. The Ultralight Pro also takes the crown of “Best Value Sunday Golf Bag.”

The strap system is among the best there is. It provides great adjustability and an overall comfortable carrying experience. Don’t overlook the zippers, too. The buttery smooth zippers make opening each of the large pockets a breeze.

  • Great pocket structure
  • Fully extending stand
  • Best value Sunday bag
  • Water bottle pocket is not ideal

Best Premium Sunday Bag: Vessel Sunday III DXR

Vessel Sunday Bag

The Vessel Sunday bag is an absolute unit of a Sunday bag . This spacious, stable bag nails all of the details. Our testers really liked all of the extras packed into this bag, including the magnetic rangefinder pocket.

The high-end Vessel Sunday bag just feels premium. From the sleek, durable synthetic leather exterior to the velvet-lined club dividers, the Vessel Sunday bag is a luxury. The synthetic leather does add some weight overall, but Vessel’s comfortable straps disperse the weight evenly for an easy carrying experience.

  • Comfortable straps
  • Cavernous pockets
  • Buttery-smooth zippers
  • Heavier than some

Best Small Sunday Bag:  Mizuno BR-D2

dewalt golf tour bag

If you’re looking for great storage , the Mizuno BR-D2 is your bag. This bag has pockets galore and a comfortable strap system for a great carry experience.

The utility pouch on the side is detachable for when you want to move a little lighter or carry a little more. Despite only having a half-size stand system, it still works great as a carry bag or range bag. It’s bigger than most pencil-style bags, but still plenty portable for an easy Sunday round or the local Par 3 course.

  • Detachable side bag
  • Comfortable strap system
  • Good dividers
  • Half-size stand can be annoying

Best Travel Bags

Traveling with golf clubs is a risk but the best travel bags of 2023 will help you feel a little more at ease. Traveling to play golf is a great experience and the proper travel bag will help ensure there are no disasters.

Best Golf Travel Bag 2023: Sun Mountain ClubGlider Meridian

Sun Mountain ClubGlider golf bag travel bag

The Sun Mountain ClubGlider Meridian was made with the frequent traveler in mind. The ClubGlider system makes moving through the airport a breeze. No other bag in our test was easier to maneuver and move than the ClubGlider Meridian. While the bag itself isn’t nearly as compact as other bags, the bag is so easy to load, unload, and move that you forget how large it is.

The padding near the top of the bag is among the most dense that we saw in our testing, too, which means your precious sticks will be protected no matter what.

Nothing is easier to travel with than the ClubGlider Meridian. The four-wheel ClubGlider System has been around for years, and it’s easy to see why Sun Mountain sticks with it.

  • Durable wheelbase with easy maneuverability
  • Padded top for added protection
  • Angled base to pull clubs out easily
  • ClubGlider system adds a little weight

Best Travel Bag For Usability: PING Rolling Travel Cover Golf Bag

Ping rolling travel cover golf bag

Looking for a new golf travel bag? The PING Rolling Travel Cover should make your short list. This is one of those bags that makes traveling with your clubs a stress-free experience. Between the great protection and durability this bag offers, there are few that match its stellar performance .

Another thing we noticed during our testing is how easy it is to load and unload. The Ping Rolling Travel Cover stands on its own, making it extremely easy to load, then unload your gear.

The Ping Rolling Travel Cover is large enough to fit most cart bags, but agile enough to move through the airport with ease. The 6 handles make it easy to lift and transport, and the bottom rails make it possible to go up and down curbs with ease on your way to the car or the course.

  • Stand-up design for easy loading
  • Folds up into carrying case
  • Sturdy wheelbase
  • Less storage and padding than others

Best Travel Bag For Club Protection: OGIO Alpha Max Golf Travel Cover

golf travel bag

OGIO’s Alpha Max Golf Travel Cover provides maximum protection in a stylish package . The Alpha Max is OGIO’s flagship golf travel bag, and its stellar performance is evidence that OGIO put a lot of thought into this one.

The key feature of the Alpha Max Golf Travel Cover is the interior padding wrap. The padding can be wrapped around your clubs and is secured in place with velcro for an extra layer of protection. The peace of mind that this bag offers the frequent traveler is well worth the lofty price tag.

  • Wrap-around interior pad
  • Plenty of added protection
  • Not as many storage pockets

There are hundreds of golf bags on the market in 2023 and, after a while, they may all seem to have the same features and functionality. Throughout our golf bag testing, we were continually surprised by the differences from one bag to the next. Here are a few things to look for in a golf bag for 2023.

Storage Capacity

If you are a golfer who has a few dozen golf balls in the bottom of the bag, along with an entire wardrobe to wear regardless of the weather conditions, look for more pockets and larger bags.

When walking the course, weight should be your top priority when choosing a golf bag. Maintain all your energy and find a golf bag under five pounds. Stand bags and Sunday bags have the best options for lightweight technology.

As a general rule of thumb, lighter golf bags are made of less-premium materials. Mesh, canvas and nylon are all very lightweight. Premium materials like leather and synthetic leathers often add weight but have a more premium “fit and finish”.

Vessel golf bags  and  Stitch golf bags  tend to have more of a luxury feel and weigh considerably more.

Whereas the PING Craze-E-Lite and the Sun Mountain 2.5+ are both just over three pounds.

Style and Personalization

Most of the best golf bags on our list are available in a wide range of colors. Quick tip: Think about your playing conditions before you choose a white or light-colored bag. You may find yourself with a stained and discolored bag.

If you want your name or initials on a bag, the front ball pocket on many models from PING and Sun Mountain are removable for embroidery.

Durability and Waterproof Construction

Fairweather and occasional golfers may not need to worry too much here but if you are die-hard, look for waterproof materials. Two good options here are COBRA UltraDry Pro and Sun Mountain H2NO Lite .

At the very least, ensure there is a waterproof valuables pocket for your phone and other personal belongings.

Technology Integration

Some golf bags come equipped with a GPS holder or even a charging port for a USB device.

Club Dividers

There are two things you need to know about club dividers. The first is the number of dividers.

The second is the length of the dividers.

The more dividers a golf bag has, the better your clubs will stay separated. Dividers add a little weight to a bag so it’s normal for a stand bag to have fewer dividers than a cart bag.

Additionally, dividers can run the full length of the bag (down to your grip) or they can just be a top divider. Full-length dividers do a better job of protecting both the shaft and grip of your club.

One thing to be aware is if you have an oversized or jumbo golf grip , you may struggle with a full-length 14- or 15-club divider. Check dimensions carefully before ordering.

Cart Bag Versus Stand Bag

One of the most difficult decisions is whether to go with a cart or stand bag. Here are some basic tips to get you through:

  • Choose a cart bag if you play most of your rounds using a motorized golf cart or push cart .
  • If you own your golf cart, choose a cart bag to protect clubs when you travel from home to course.
  • If you walk the course or simply prefer to travel light, a stand bag is best.
  • Push carts do well with both stand and cart bag but look for an integrated cart strap system.

Stand Bag Versus Sunday Bag

Not all Sunday bags will hold 14 clubs. If you are a new player looking for an affordable option to store a few clubs, the Sunday bag is a great choice. The stand bag is a better fit for golfers with a full set of gear but a Sunday bag is also  a nice addition for a few holes in the afternoon or a trip to the driving range.

Frequently Asked Questions

A Sunday bag is a golf carry bag smaller than a traditional stand or cart bag. The Sunday bag was created with the concept of heading out for a few holes of golf on a Sunday afternoon with just the essentials.

The Rules of Golf state that you can have a maximum of 14 clubs in play.

A golf staff bag is larger than a standard cart bag and many professional golfers use it. The staff bags do a great job of displaying the logo or sponsors of a professional. Staff bags are often used in golf shops to display clubs. They are not the most user-friendly for an amateur player on a normal Saturday morning round.

There are different styles of Sunday golf bags. Most will fit around eight clubs with ease. Some can fit all 14 but it is a tight fit.

The USGA states that you can only have 14 golf clubs in play at any given time. If you have 15 clubs in your bag, you must declare one out of play before the start of the round and that club must remain out of play for the entire round.

Load your golf clubs with the tallest clubs in the back of the bag and the wedges and short irons in the front. You don’t want the edges of the wedges and irons cutting into the longer graphite shafts of your fairway woods and driver.

What’s your thoughts on the bags that lock the clubs into place?

Have a SM C-130 that is several years old and love it. I play 5 days a week and take my clubs home daily. One pocket zipper came off track years after purchase but that was the only issue. Waiting until the new ones come out so I can get this year’s model at a discount. Might be a little heavier than others but club separations are great and slot for putter will easily handle oversized grip. Pocket for valuables etc. Used to carry and Ping Hoofer can’t be beat.

Thanks for the great ‘bag roundup’ I’ve always had a Titleist walking bag, but I’m really leaning at getting a new Ping Hoofer Lite. I just wonder if it will sit well in a cart for the few times I ride? Anyway great post.

I’m looking hard at the new GRIT Tower cart bag. Just showed up, built in Canada- total rethinking of the storage features on golf bags.

Curious if you all have a ranking for best hybrid bag. I have a cart bag now for my Clic Gear push cart but would like to get something with a stand for range and practice days.

They dont. Its been requested numerous times. I am in the same martket. My top considerations were the SM C130s, titleist hybrid, and vessel players III/IV. I went with the SM cause i got a good deal on it <$200

For those of you traveling and looking at protection for your clubs, one of the best things you can do is buy a $5 orange Homer bucket from Home Depot and just fit that over the top of your golf bag inside the travel bag. It should fit over most golf bags and inside most travel bags.

Buddy LaRosa

Great idea!! And thank you for the tip, I’m taking a trip soon and was pondering ways to protect the clubs.

Choosing the Right Dewalt Golf Bag

Finding the perfect golf bag can be a challenge. With so many different styles and brands available, it can be difficult to narrow down the choices. Dewalt is one of the leading golf bag manufacturers, offering a range of bags for all types of golfers. When choosing the right Dewalt golf bag, there are several factors to consider.

The first factor to consider is size. Depending on the type of golfer you are, you may need a larger or smaller bag. For instance, if you’re an avid golfer who prefers to carry all their clubs with them on every hole, then you may want to opt for a larger bag that can accommodate your full set of clubs and accessories. On the other hand, if you’re an occasional golfer who only takes out one or two clubs at a time, then a smaller bag will suit your needs better.

In addition to size, it’s also important to consider material when selecting your Dewalt golf bag. The material should be strong and durable enough to withstand regular use in outdoor conditions. Most Dewalt bags are made from high-quality materials such as nylon or polyester that won’t tear or wear down easily over time. It’s also important to look for waterproof materials so that your clubs stay dry during inclement weather conditions.

Last but not least, it’s important to consider comfort when choosing a Dewalt golf bag. Many bags come with padded straps and ergonomic handles for easy carrying and comfort while playing on the course. Some bags even feature adjustable straps so that you can adjust them depending on how much weight you’re carrying with you on each round.

By taking into consideration these factors when choosing your Dewalt golf bag, you can ensure that you select the perfect one for your needs and budget. With so many different styles and features available, it’s easy to find one that suits your style and budget perfectly!

If you are an avid golfer who carries a full set of clubs, then you will obviously need a larger bag than someone who only plays with a few clubs. In addition, if you have oversized clubs, such as drivers or putters, then you will also need a larger bag to accommodate them. The weight of the bag is also important, especially if you plan on walking the course. A lightweight bag will be easier to carry and won’t tire your shoulders out as quickly.

The Dewalt golf bags are designed with both size and weight in mind. They come in different sizes to accommodate various club sets and sizes. Whether you are carrying a full set or just a few clubs, there is sure to be a Dewalt bag that will suit your needs. Additionally, these bags are designed with lightweight materials that make them easy to carry around the course. They also feature padded straps that provide extra comfort while carrying them for long periods of time.

Cleaning the Bag

It is important to regularly clean your Dewalt golf bag in order to keep it in good condition. Start by brushing off any dirt and debris from the surface of the bag. Use a damp cloth to gently wipe down the exterior of the bag. If there are stains, you can use a mild detergent or soap to remove them. Avoid using abrasive cleaning products as this may damage the material of your bag. After cleaning, allow the bag to air dry completely before storing.

Storing Your Bag

Proper storage is essential for maintaining your Dewalt golf bag over time. When not in use, store your bag in a dry place away from direct sunlight and high temperatures. If you plan on storing the bag for an extended period of time, stuff it with paper or towels to help maintain its shape. It is also recommended that you leave any zippers or pockets open so that air can circulate inside.

Caring for Zippers and Straps

Regularly inspect all zippers and straps on your Dewalt golf bag. Make sure they are not frayed or broken and that they move freely when opened and closed. If you find any signs of wear, replace them immediately so they do not become worse over time. Additionally, make sure all buckles and clips are securely fastened to ensure that your clubs stay securely inside the bag.

Checking for Tears

Inspect the entire surface of your Dewalt golf bag regularly for any tears or rips in the material. If you find any damage, repair it immediately with fabric glue or by sewing it together with a needle and thread. This will help prevent further damage from occurring and will help extend the life of your golf bag.

Travel + Leisure / Tyler Roeland

As golf’s popularity surges to new heights, brands are putting their own spin on classic gear and accessories needed to shoot par and get around the course. Tumi, with its legacy of durable and coveted high-end luggage, is the latest to dedicate a line to the sport , and they are making a big entrance. They have signed an exclusive partnership with the PGA TOUR and LPGA, becoming the “Official Luggage” of both organizations and debuted the “full range golf collection” at the PGA Show this year to much acclaim and interest.

“Many of Tumi’s consumers are competitive and leisure athletes, so golf makes so much sense for Tumi as a brand,” Victor Sanz, Tumi's Creative Director, told Travel + Leisure . “Our customers are not only looking for high-performing products but those that match their lifestyle.”

An avid golfer myself, I got to experience their new bags and accessories first-hand and let me tell you, they are just as attractive and thoughtful as anything Tumi has made so far. Available in both their signature black and a really cool off-white motif, all the items are quality in look and feel. Here is a rundown of all 13 products available, from their innovative and technically impressive golf bags to sturdy travel cases and golf shoe bags , plus a myriad of accessories that will help you look and feel great on the course.

Tumi Golf Cart Bag

Let’s start with the line’s biggest statement piece, the sleek and innovative Tumi Golf Cart Bag . Sanz told me it’s his favorite product in the collection. “The piece was crafted with an incredible amount of detail,” he said, “with every step of our consumer’s golf outing considered.” Some of the standout design elements of the bag include a side pocket with magnetic closure for your rangefinder, an insulated cooler pocket, and a discrete built-in USB-C power bank on the back pocket. It’s sturdy, handsome, and literally electric, making it a perfect companion for the corporate outing or the club tournament.

Tumi Golf Stand Bag

We’ve covered the cart bag and the Sunday bag, but the most popular type of golf bag is the stand bag. Tumi’s signature engineering is on full display in its Tumi Golf Stand Bag , whether you're a beginner or a professional who wants to carry 18 and feel both comfortable and elevated. Every detail is thought out here, from the incredibly comfortable backpack straps, multiple strong pockets, an articulating foot for upright or angled standing, and even embroidery for your initials to stand out even further. When you’re up for a little more fun, there’s a cooler pocket that can fit more than a few cans of your swing juice of choice, and an embedded USB-C charger for your phone, speaker, or rangefinder.

“Each item in the Golf collection is inspired by the passion of the sport and delivers our brand’s signature durability, high-performance materials, and innovative design,” Sanz mentioned, “while maintaining all the performance luxury aspects that Tumi is known for.” This bag itself may be the epitome of that, for all golfers who want that panache in their game.

Tumi Golf Duffel

It’s often confusing to people when you explain you have your golf bag, and then golf bags. But the Tumi Golf Duffel is one of the best ways to explain this nuance: this bag is for your shoes, your clothes, and your dopp kit that helps you get to the club each morning and enjoy that bag of clubs you haul around the course. It can be worn as a backpack or carried by the handle, and it even includes a trolley sleeve to make it a surprisingly versatile carry-on for your trip to warmer climates to play. This one is a must-have for the sophisticated and efficiently packed golfer.

Tumi Golf Shoe Bag

If it’s anything but a perfect 72 degrees Fahrenheit and sunshine outside, a great pair of golf shoes is going to be the most important piece of gear you have. They will get wet whether it’s a full-on downpour or just a dewy spring morning, or even if you just walk through a post-sprinkler hole. So having a shoe bag to separate out your spikes when they’re recovering from the damp turf if important for the traveling golfer, and Tumi’s Golf Shoe Bag has that, with a water-resistant and vented interior to make sure they can dry to or from the course. Add in a convenient carry strap, and enough size for even my size 14 shoes, this accessory shows you care about your game and your trusty footwear.

Tumi Golf Hardside 2 Wheeled Travel Case

When you decide to take your game to the next level, that means traveling to new courses and climates that challenge your abilities and expand your understanding of what golf can be. To do so, you can’t rent a stock set at the course; you have to bring your own. This hard-shell case not only protects your clubs (in fact, they have their own compartment separate from your bag inside, for an even more secure trip), it makes carting them through the airport and across the resort incredibly easy with two wheels and secure handles. It’s sturdy, impeccably designed, and luxe inside. Showing up with this lets everyone know you are serious and enthusiastic about playing.

Tumi Essential Large East West Tote

Golf is more than a sport, it’s a lifestyle. Tumi understands this and offers a stylish carryall that compliments their more golf-focused bag in the signature black or off-white and gold, to use away from the course as well. With a water bottle compartment, trolley strap, and zippered pocket, it’s incredibly versatile (and even comes in a slightly smaller Medium version ). Sanz told me “I also love our everyday bags in this collection, such as the Essential East West Tote, designed for our consumers to go effortlessly from the office to the course, so they serve as the perfect complement to daily life.”

Tumi Essential North/South Tote

Like the East West Tote, the Tumi North/South Tote is luxury. “It’s these lifestyle items and accessories that really elevate the collection and connect with our customers,” Sanz added. Taller and narrower than it’s East/West sibling, this tote also attaches to your rolling suitcase so you can comfortably bring it with you on those international golf trips you’ve planned. Weatherproof and embroiderable, it also connects with all Tumi+ modular accessories so it won’t let you down in any situation.

Tumi Golf Pouch with Tees

Speaking of accessories, the Tumi Golf Pouch with Tees blends the line between bag and gear in the best way. It’s a small pouch about the size of a rangefinder that easily clips onto your main bag to hold your balls, pencils, tees, and divot tool. “It really enhances your game when everything is easily accessible,” Sanz reminded me, and I agree, especially when you have a monogrammed bag to help with that. When you don’t have a caddy at the ready, this will ensure you always have what you need to tee up after that OB drive, or mark down your birdie when you clear the green.

Tumi Golf Divot Tool

Everyone needs a divot tool to respect the turf and be ready for anything on the course. A perfect gift for the elevated golfer, this multi-use Tumi Golf Divot Tool is monogrammable and looks great in the available gold or gunmetal; plus, it can be attached to your belt, bag, or cart. It has a magnetic ball marker for claiming your spot on the green, an all-leather case in black or off-white, and a bottle opener for the 19th hole too.

Tumi Golf Range Bag

Smaller, five-club golf bags are really in style at the moment, whether you call them range, Sunday, lightweight, or mini bags. The Tumi Golf Range Bag answers that call in customary style, delivering a lightweight alternative for par 3’s, quick rounds, or twilight scrambles, and it’s sturdy and innovative. It doesn’t sacrifice pocket capacity for the smaller size, with two U-style zippered compartments and a detachable club-head cover, with an interior divider for your narrowed club arsenal. And just like its bigger cousins, it’s monogrammable and sturdy enough for anything you throw at it.

Tumi Golf Cigar Case

Part of the goal with this line was to embrace the whole golf experience, not just the gear needed to play the game itself. “We truly thought of everything you might need for a successful day at the course,” said Sanz. “It’s a comprehensive collection that merges functionality with style in the way that Tumi does best.” This Tumi Golf Cigar Case is a carbon fiber cigar case for the discerning golfer, meaning you don’t have to worry about your stogies getting crushed. In fact, you should worry about what this case itself may crush, including your two-up lead heading into the back nine.

Tumi Golf Extra Large Umbrella

Believe me, a former caddy, that you need an actual golf umbrella if you plan to play a round in any kind of mixed-weather climate. Even better if it’s extra large, so it can cover yourself and your bag behind you, and be propped up with ease as you swing. The Tumi Golf Extra Large Umbrella is a really sturdy umbrella considering the size, so it will hold up to the wind (which can make or break your round) much as the rain. It’s a perfect compliment to your new bag with its red accents under the signature Tumi black exterior and reflective logo for when it gets a little dark out there.

Tumi Three-Pack Golf Club Cover Set

And finally, Tumi has a set of three meticulously designed head covers for your woods that complete the whole look. They’re very plush inside to protect your new driver that got you the extra 30 yards but also extremely durable on the outside, made of Tumi’s signature FXT Ballistic Nylon. You can monogram them as well, and having tested them out, I can say they are of the most protective covers I’ve ever used. But despite their heft, they are so easy to get on-and-off the clubs. It will make you want to try to take your 3 wood off the deck on that par 5 that has always had a green slightly out of reach for your second shot.

Patrick Cantlay explains under-the-radar equipment changes

Patrick Cantlay explains under-the-radar equipment changes

Even the savviest of equipment aficionados may not have spotted Patrick Cantlay’s recent equipment experiments, but he’s been stealthily making impactful changes throughout the bag in 2023, searching for the right “feels” and greater precision.

“In general, I’m not a big tester,” Cantlay said during a press conference at last week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard. “But if something’s better or potentially better, I’m now in a position (due to equipment free agency) where I can go out and put that [club] in right away. That’s exciting. I really have only done some shaft changes this year. I experimented with some stuff in the off-season and then at the beginning of this year.

“I have been swinging the golf club just a little bit faster lately, and that’s by design,” he continued. “I think it’s important to try and hit it farther these days. It’s just the simplest, fastest way to get a little better. So I noticed that the club, or the shaft, started to feel a little weak…I thought maybe going heavier [with all of my shafts] would help me hit it a little straighter.”

The danger of increasing speed is that it can come with a loss of control, often due to increased flexing and twisting of the shaft. In an attempt to solve the issue, Cantlay switched out his previous metal wood shafts for the versions that weigh 10 grams more. For example, instead of using a 60-gram Mitsubishi Diamana ZF driver shaft, he adopted the 70-gram version of the same model. With his irons, Cantlay switched from his previous 120-gram steel iron shafts (True Temper Dynamic Gold 120 Tour Issue X100) into iron shafts that weigh 10 grams more (True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100).

He wasn’t changing the stiffness of his shafts, but was attempting to find a stiffer feel by adding weight. As he found out, however, this didn’t have the positive effect he thought it would.

“I tried to go heavier with everything from DG 120s to X100s and then just 10 grams heavier in the same wood shafts,” Cantlay said. “And the heavy change was really difficult for me to have similar feels.”

Drastic changes in feel are typically a nonstarter for PGA TOUR players, so it was back to the drawing board. Learning from his experiment, though, Cantlay went a different route that led to a more fitting solution.

“What I ended up doing was going back to the old weights, same shaft, and then tipping the wood shafts and hard-stepping the iron shafts,” Cantlay said. “That’s made a big difference in kind of just straightening out the ball flight, feeling like I don’t have to guard against too big of a draw. It’s been easy, much easier than going heavier as far as the feels go.”

Patrick Cantlay makes birdie at THE PLAYERS

Let’s explain two important shaft terms that Cantlay used:

1) “Hard-stepping” shafts is a method of re-shafting irons in such a way that it slightly increases stiffness throughout the set. Hard-stepping means that a golfer uses a 9-iron shaft in their 8-iron head, an 8-iron shaft in their 7-iron head, and so on, thus using slightly stiffer shafts in each iron

2) “Tipping” a wood shaft means that the golfer trims a portion from the tip section of the shaft (the part of the shaft that meets the club head), which effectively reduces torque and overall stiffness.

So, by rearranging his iron shafts and tip-trimming his wood shafts, Cantlay re-found his comfort zone and control, despite increasing his speed.

It seems the changes are already starting to set in, too. After finishing T16 at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, T26 at The American Express, and missing the cut at the WM Phoenix Open, Cantlay finished 3rd at The Genesis Invitational and T4 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard. He’s trending.

Cantlay is also debuting a new sponsor at THE PLAYERS Championship this week. While he started off the year with an all-black staff bag that was free of branding logos, he’s now using a black staff bag with yellow DeWalt branding – DeWalt manufactures power tools and hand tools.

Considering the shaft-trimming and club adjustments that Cantlay has made recently, the new sponsor makes sense.

Patrick Cantlay What's In The Bag? 2024 Update

The American is no longer a contracted club player with Titleist - so what equipment is he now playing? Let's take a closer look

Patrick Cantlay What's In The Bag?

A multiple PGA Tour champion, including two victories at the Memorial Tournament and a FedEx Cup win in 2021, Patrick Cantlay used to be a Titleist staff player and had a full bag from the brand. However, that partnership ended in 2023 - so what clubs is he playing now? Let's take a closer look at his equipment line-up for 2024.

What Driver Does Patrick Cantlay Use?

Interestingly, Cantlay had been using the Titleist 917D2 driver for a while and was one of the few staffers who didn't switch to the newer TS models when they came out. However, he did eventually switch to the newer TS3 model, which he is still using. It has 9.5° of loft (set at 8.75°)‚ and is fitted with a Mitsubishi Diamana ZF 60 TX shaft.

When we tested the TS3, it provided speed from the first shot and, if you want to tweak your set-up, the adjustability options are very impressive. It's a classic-looking model, too, traditional and very Titleist-like down behind the ball.

What Fairway Wood Does Patrick Cantlay Use?

Like many other professionals, Cantlay rarely changes his fairway wood slot in the bag because it can be a hard club to get right. As such, he continues to use a Titleist 915F model (three wood)  which first showed up on Tour back in June 2014.

Back then, the feature that raised some eyebrows was the Active Recoil Channel (ARC). It was a slot cut into the sole of the club which was said to allow more flex at impact. This was designed to increase ball speed on thin shots and reduce spin for a lower flight.

Cantlay also carries a Titleist TS2 five wood with 21° of loft, although he has shown he likes carrying a hybrid with this loft as well. It's quite likely that this section of his bag can change from time to time. Both of his fairway woods are fitted with Mitsubishi Diamana ZF 70 TX shafts.

What Irons Does Patrick Cantlay Use?

At the top end of the bag, Cantlay carries a Titleist T200 three iron, which we believe comes in and out. His main weapons of choice are still the Titleist 718 AP2 irons (4-9), which are fitted with True Temper Dynamic Gold 120 Tour Issue X100 shafts. This is a model that we first tested back in 2017, and clearly Cantlay sees no reason to change what was one of the best golf irons on the market at the time.

What Wedges Does Patrick Cantlay Use?

Having previously used different generations of Vokey wedges (he once had an SM5, SM6 and SM7 in the bag at the same time), Cantlay now has two SM7s in the bag - 47° (10F) and 52° (08F). He also has two Titleist Vokey SM9 wedges - 57° (08M) and 61° (T-grind). His wedges are fitted with True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S300 shafts, and he has had them personalized with his initials.

What Putter Does Patrick Cantlay Use?

One club in the bag that Cantlay does appear more willing to experiment with is the putter. The Ryder Cupper used to be a Newport blade player, but in 2021 he switched to a mallet design. It would appear that he continues to putt with a Scotty Cameron T-5 Proto, which has a SuperStroke grip.

What Ball Does Patrick Cantlay Use?

Cantlay plays the Titleist Pro V1x golf ball , one of the best premium golf balls on the market 2024. The latest iteration of the Titleist Pro V1x delivers in all areas of the game. In testing, we noticed a jump in ball speed off the tee which, combined with a strong flight, offered superb distance.

What Shoes Does Patrick Cantlay Wear?

Cantlay wears FootJoy shoes, specifically the FootJoy DryJoys Tour BOA. Sometimes when you find a comfortable pair of shoes - and we're not just talking golf shoes here - then it just doesn't make sense to change. In terms of his choice of golf clothing, B.Draddy and Zero Restriction are two of his partners .

Nick Taylor WITB 2024: Canadian PGA Tour Pro’s Golf Bag Explored

A fter round one was shortened due to darkness, Nick Taylor stands tied for fourth with Matt Fitzpatrick. The 35-year-old from Winnipeg, after nearly a year of no wins last month, grabbed the WM Phoenix Open Cup for his fourth PGA Tour victory . And now, at the 50th PLAYERS Championship, Taylor is possibly on his way to doubling his wins in the 2024 season.

The Canadian pro is only one stroke away from the leaders (tied at first) and is undoubtedly in contention for the title over the next three rounds. And with his fully stocked TaylorMade and Titleist bag, he may just grab the win at the TPC Scottsdale on Sunday!

What Titleist driver does Nick Taylor use?

Taylor’s bag is filled with clubs from just the two major brands of equipment: TaylorMade and Titleist, with the latter’s clubs dominating. When exploring Taylor’s bag, the first thing that catches the eye is the  Titleist TSi3 Driver . The club was released back in 2021 and, interestingly, has been a part of his bag since. He uses it with a 10-degree loft and the Fujikura Atmos Blue Tour Spec 6 X shaft. The driver retails for $549.

For greater control on the fairways, Taylor has a 3-wood, 5-wood, and 4-wood hybrid in his bag. The 3-wood is the Titleist TSi2 with Fujikura Atmos Blue Tour Spec 6 X and 15 degrees of loft. Sold for $299, this club offers high speed with low CG, providing better control. On the other hand, the 5-wood is by TaylorMade.

He also uses the TaylorMade SIM2 Max with an 18-degree loft and the Mitsubishi Tensei AV 85 TX. In 2021, the SIM2 was launched with a weight distribution in the head, which allowed for better forgiveness and optimum launch. This 5-wood retails for $299. For his hybrid, Taylor returns to Titlesit, using the Titleist TSR2 with a 20-degree loft and the Graphite Design Tour AD DI 95 X shaft. Renowned as fast and forgiving, the club sells for $299.

To find his way onto the green, the 4-time PGA Tour winner has the Titleist T200 (4-iron) and Titleist T100 (5-9) with Temper Dynamic Gold S400. The T200 has a refined dual cavity for a solid impact and enhanced feel. Whereas the T100 has a similar hollow body with a forged face. Both iron sets retail for $200 each.

Taylor’s w edges, putter, and more

For wedges, Taylor uses two different types. The first is the Titleist Vokey Design SM10 (46-10F, 54-14F), and the second is the Titleist Vokey Design WedgeWorks (58-T). He equips these with the True Temper Dynamic Gold S400 shaft. There are various grooves on the SM10 to provide maximum spin, and it is one of the best for short-game skills. It sells for $189 per club. The T-grind wedge works best for firm soil conditions or when the ball is stuck in a bunker with less sand. Its retail price is $225.

The putter has always been the most important club in any golfer’s bag. Even for Taylor, it has helped him to shoot six birdies and no bogeys in round one at the PLAYERS Championship. For this incredible performance, the Canadian is using the TaylorMade Spider Tour Red with SuperStroke Zenergy Pistol 1.0 grip. The putter sells for $219. For his accessories, the PGA Tour star has an extra Golf Pride Tour Velvet grip in his bag, and for his ball turns, the Titleist Pro V1x.

Undoubtedly, Nick Taylor’s equipment seems to be working well for him. Will it help him grab a win at TPC Sawgrass this week? Tune in to find out!

Replacement clubs

Players 2024: Adam Hadwin tossed his 8-iron in the water at TPC Sawgrass. Here's how he got a replacement

1951001110

Sean M. Haffey

Adam Hadwin’s Callaway Apex TCB 8-iron had barely made its splash upon hitting the water at TPC Sawgrass’ finishing hole Thursday during the Players Championship—a toss that his wife, Jessica, deemed a 10 out of 10—before Callaway’s tour team went into action to build a replacement.

“Our team started on it and then reached out to Adam to confirm the build and delivery,” said a Callaway spokesperson, who said that the club was scheduled to get to Hadwin early Friday morning. “He has an afternoon tee time, so he’ll have it in hand way before he tees off. It doesn’t happen often but since we have his specs it’s easy to replicate for the build.” That build includes a True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue AMT Tour White X100 shaft.

Although replacing clubs tossed in the water is a rarity, replacing broken clubs is somewhat commonplace on tour. It gets more complicated, however, when it occurs during a competition round. Unknown to many golf fans is that the tour vans and technicians that service the players each week pull up stakes on Wednesday afternoon (in accordance with PGA Tour rules) and move on to the next venue. That can leave players with damaged clubs in a bit of a pickle.

Of course, it is the job of the equipment companies to solve for those problem no matter what. Take the case of Rory McIlroy at the 2011 PGA Championship. McIlroy not only hurt his right arm and wrist when he struck a root on the third hole in the opening round at Atlanta Athletic Club, he also damaged his Titleist MB 7-iron. A call was made to Titleist and the company quickly had a replacement made at its Oceanside, Calif., facility. An employee then took a redeye and flew with the new stick overnight to Atlanta. The club was placed in McIlroy’s locker at 7:25 a.m. Friday just before he went out to warm up for his second round.

In an effort to avoid such extreme measures, many players will, at minimum, bring a backup driver with them. It was a strategy that served Chris DiMarco well at the 2005 Masters, when on the eighth hole of the final round the epoxy that holds the clubhead and shaft together came loose, with the head twisting on him. Under the rules, DiMarco could replace the club and luckily, he had backups for his 10-degree Ping G2 Tour with him.

“I had just put the driver I was using in this week, and I had four or five others in my locker,” said DiMarco, who noted he normally traveled with just one driver. “Eight is a par 5 so there was time, and I got the replacement driver on the ninth tee, so I didn’t miss a drive.”

And thanks to Callaway’s quick thinking, Hadwin shouldn’t miss a shot with his 8-iron.

Golf Holidays In Russia, Moscow

Historically tourists have been holidaying in Russia for numerous reasons – to enjoy nature, to relish the Russian wildlife, to take in its varied history, to show off their winter sports skills etc.

However, in recent times one more reason to visit Russia has become popular – to play Golf.

Believe it or not, but the first Russian 18-hole Golf course was built in the suburban area of Nakhabino, Moscow in 1994.

Moscow Golf and Country Club remained the only 18-hole Golf course in the country for many years.

Since then many more Golf courses have been added and today, Golf holidays in Russia is one of the country’s biggest tourist attractions.

So book yourself a Golfing vacation in Russia and have the experience of a lifetime.

Some parts of Russia get extreme weather, and it is not possible to play Golf all through the year.

Thankfully, the main Golf courses are in and around Moscow. Apart from long and bitter winters, Moscow enjoys mostly pleasant warm weather.

Winter is from the beginning of November until the end of March. It is best to avoid Golf tours to Russia during these months.

Golfing season in Russia begins from April and goes on until October.

Autumn lasts for two months from September to October and these two months are the best for Golf holidays in Russia.
