Andaman Tourism Opens: The Andaman & Nicobar administration has announced that all tourist spots in the South Andaman district will be opened for tourism activities with immediate effect 8 Feb 2022.

What is the advisory to travel to North & Middle Andaman District?

The tourists are allowed to visit Baratang/North & Middle Andaman on production of double dose covid certificate/ All other passengers viz. unvaccinated and partially vaccinated passengers (those who have taken only 1S1 dose of COVID vaccine) shall have to produce RT-PCR negative test report

• All asymptomatic fully vaccinated persons coming to these islands from mainland are  exempted  from the requirement of carrying RT-PCR negative test report,irrespective of the type of vaccine received and country of origin. Such fullyvaccinated individuals shall produce the final vaccination certificate at the origin airport ,  sea port in the mainland and at Port Blair Airport / sea port.
• Alt asymptomatic children below 5 years of age are exempted from carrying RT-PCR negative test report and further RT-PCR testing at Port Blair Airport.
• All other passengers viz. unvaccinated and partially vaccinated passengers (those who have taken only 1S1 dose of COVID vaccine) shall have to produce RT-PCR negative test report to travel to Port Blair from the mainland, as is the practice now. Such an RT-PCR test should have been taken within 48 hours prior to commencement of journey from the origin airport connecting Port Blair. Such passengers will also have to undergo additional RT-PCR test on arrival at Port Blair. Such passengers shall remain in self-quarantine till the arrival of the test report.
• If a passenger on arrival is tested positive then, the prescribed quarantine protocol is to be followed.
• All Airlines shall ensure strict compliance of this order and observance of COVID Appropriate Behaviour. Any non-compliance shall invite action under Disaster Management Act and other applicable laws. 

General Guidelines defined for traveling to Andaman Islands during COVID :

• The Tourism Activities are permitted only in South Andaman & North & Middle Andaman District except Nicobar District.
• Persons above 65 years of age, persons with home co-morbidities, pregnant women and children below the age of 10 years advised not to travel for tourism purposes.
• Tourists/Visitors who are at higher risk due to some medical history are advised to take extra precautions.
• Tourists/visitors shall minimize contact with other staff and visitors as far as possible and zero contact policy should be followed at all tourist destinations.
• All tourists/visitors shall be briefed by the hotel concerned about do’s & don’ts to be mandatorily followed during their stay and movements.
• While travelling tourists/visitors should wear a face mask and carry their own sanitizer and wet wipes for personal use.
• At all tourist destinations, staff must wear face masks and wash/sanitize hands regularly while performing their duties.
• Arogya Setu App shall be mandatory for all incoming tourists/visitors.
• Respiratory etiquettes to be strictly followed. This involves strict practice of covering one’s mouth and nose while coughing/sneezing with a tissue handkerchief/flexed elbow and disposing off used tissues properly after use.
• The tourists/visitors on arrival at Port Blair airport have to undergo mandatory Covid-19 screening with RTPCR test free of cost. Thereafter the tourists/ visitors are allowed to move to their respective hotels. However, they will have to be under quarantine at Port Blair in their hotel rooms until the result of RTPCR tests are received. In case of RTPCR positive test results, the tourists/visitors shall remain in institutional quarantine in hotels notified by the Hoteliers Association in consent with the A&%N Administration, on rate as specified or to the designated hospital/ Covid 19 care centre on case to case basis.

What are the guidelines for testing for tourists coming to Andaman after August 03 2021?

On arrival at Port Blair : 1. The tourists need to carry COVID-19 negative test report from mainland based 1CMR approved lab using Reverse Transcriptase-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR). However, the sample for RTPCR test should have been taken within 48 hours prior to starting the journey from the origin station. (For e.g. if the tourist takes a flight from Delhi at 0600 hrs. on 1st September, 2021, the sample for RTPCR test should have been taken not before 0600 hrs. on 30th August, 2021). 2. The tourists/visitors on arrival at Port Blair airport have to undergo mandatory Covid-19 screening with RTPCR test free of cost. Thereafter the tourists/visitors are allowed to move to their respective hotels. However, they will have to be under quarantine at Port Blair in their hotel rooms until the result of RTPCR tests are received. In case of RTPCR positive test results, the tourists/visitors shall remain in institutional quarantine in hotels notified by the Hoteliers Association in consent with the A&N Administration, on rates as specified or to the designated hospital/ Covid-19 care centre on case-to-case basis.

3. Tourists may also have to undergo random Rapid Antigen Test conducted from time to time on payment basis as prescribed by A8N Administration.

What if the tourists test positive after arriving at the Andaman Islands?

If the tourists tests positive during their stay in the Islands, he/she will need to undergo institutional isolation as per existing health protocols. The cost of such isolation for govt. facility will be paid by the tourists as fixed by the administration from time to time. If the patient wants to stay at hotels, he/she can stay in the hotels if all the conditions below are met: a) Patients are not symptomatic and not more than 60 years old. b) Request/ undertaking is made by patient in writing. c)lf allowed by doctors. Hotels will make necessary arrangements to designate a part of their rooms for institutional isolation for this purpose.

Being frequent wanderers, my friends and I planned to go for a venturesome vacation, away from the demanding city life. After checking out our dream destination list, we ended up searching Andaman tour packages on the internet. I had been following TravelTriangle facebook page and used to check numerous lucrative packages. We visited their website where we could customize our Andaman packages. We wanted our experience to be more adventurous than luxurious, we mentioned our requirements at TravelTriangle website and soon our Travel expert shared an itinerary with us, planned according to our requirements. We booked our Andaman travel packages via TravelTriangle which included airfares, transfers, cabs, stay, snorkeling, guide fee and entry tickets to monuments and museums.

We arrived at Port Blair airport from where we were escorted to our hotel by the travel representative. We visited Cellular Jail and Corbyn Cove Beach on our first day of Andaman tour . The light and sound show at Cellular jail induced a surge of patriotism amongst us. We experienced a mild rain shower at Corbyn Cove Beach but it didn't impact our excitement rather gave us a few unexpected cherishing moments.

On the second day, we planned for Scuba diving for which we travelled to Havelock via ferry. Here we ventured into the deep water for about 30 minutes organized by the diving centre near our resort. It was an invigorating experience which was followed by the breathtaking views of RadhaNagar Beach. We could feel the fresh sea breeze and spent some lazy time, relaxing at the beach.

Next day, we went to the Elephant Beach, a popular destination for water sports. We started our day with sea walking and snorkeling which made us admire the corals, marine plants and starfishes, followed by jet skiing amidst the turquoise-blue water of sea. Later, we went for a balloon ride that offers bird’s eye view of this immaculate place. Our next destination was Neil Island where we headed to Bharatpur Beach and took a glass-bottom boat ride. We enjoyed the vibrant corals and fishes through the bottom of our boat. Later we went to Laxmanpur beach clad in white shell sand and Howrah bridge which is a bridge-like rock with two living natural corals. The same day we came back to Port Blair. Our stress buster expedition reached its end and we enjoyed every minute spent at this beautiful yet adventurous place.

I love travelling as that's the easiest way to refresh the mind, body and soul. Being a doctor by profession keeps me quite busy and travelling is an escape I seek to rejuvenate. On the third day, we took a ferry to Havelock Island which was a mesmerizing experience.We had a candlelight dinner at the resort and admired the impeccable beauty of this place. Next day, we went to Neil Island and explored its many gems. One of the most beautiful experiences of our Andaman tour was visiting the Chidiyatapu Sunset point. We also went to TSG Bella Bay and enjoyed the amazing dinner and music. On our last day of Andaman vacations we went to Ross Island before heading to the airport.

Its believed that Andaman is usually visited by honeymooning couples but I enjoyed holidaying at Andaman with my family as it enthralled each one of us irrespective of our age and taste. Being a travel enthusiast, I had explored around 22 states of India and received numerous trekker awards for my passion and craving of biking and trekking tours. On my first day in Andaman, I went to Corbyn’s Cove, a serene place surrounded by jet-skis. Now those who reach us for a group quote we first try to understand their requirements. In addition, we suggest and remove all that could make the travel for the group very hectic. Consider that you along with many more people will be taking a tour to Andaman. Now in Andaman, there is limited availability for almost everything. Be it hotels, vehicles, ferry, restaurants and many more things. You are not coming to a city wherein all things are available in a click. Here in Andaman getting an availability is a very big question if you are planning very late for your trip then things might be difficult for you especially during peak season. You will certainly need a very good travel company to execute your trip flawlessly.

What Itinerary do we recommend for groups?  

For Groups, we recommend a combination of Port Blair and Havelock Island. We cover some of the best beaches where the whole group can relax and enjoy. In addition, each one of them gets their own space to enjoy. We try to avoid locations where the group might not feel comfortable and where there is a shortage of space. We also add some activities for the group during their trip to the islands. Neil Island is also an option, however, for big groups, it might be a little difficult considering very limited facilities are available in Neil Island. In addition, the ferry sailing to Neil Island is less leading to issues in getting seats for a big group to Neil Island.

Where do we stay?

We usually recommend 3 Star or 4 Star hotels for the groups in Andaman. In Havelock Island we are specific about beach resorts in the islands. Now, in Andaman, there are only a handful of hotels that can accommodate the whole group in one hotel. In addition, considering the demand we need to check the availability as many good hotels are mostly sold out during season time. Our experts recommend you where the group can be accommodated easily. In worst case also, if the group has to stay in 2 different hotels then we recommend only those hotels that are next to each other.  

Do we get food for the group in the package?  

Absolutely, the food is included in the tour at the 3 intervals for the group. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner are included in the package.

Do we get DJ and Alcoholic Drinks for the group?

Yes, DJ along with alcoholic drinks can be arranged for the group as an addon and upon request.

What if we are pure vegetarian?

The hotels that you check-in will have the availability of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. At the time of booking, you can mention your preference as well.

Is there any specific facility for Jain Food?

Jain food has to be prepared as per special order to the kitchen. In addition, some groups bring their own cook to the islands as well. For them, a kitchen space is provided where they can cook the meals. This facility is usually provided for a group of 30 travelers and above.  

How many people should be there in one group?

The Seakart is a unique watercraft, with a capacity of three people. Unlike jet skis and speed boards, you can drive the Seakart deeper into the sea. The 20 minutes, 5-6 km ride starts from the Corbyn’s Cove Beach, at Port Blair, through to the Flag Point, near Ross Island, and back. A must-do on your Andaman tour packages.

Bioluminescence:

The Andaman tour offers an amazing and magical night kayaking adventure, off Havelock Island, after sunset. Every swish of your paddle will awaken the phytoplankton in the sea, with their glowing ‘Bioluminescence’ light. Limestone Caves Excursion:

Hidden from the world till recently, the Limestone Caves are on the Baratang Island, in the Andaman Islands archipelago. Limestone is a sedimentary rock that is formed under the sea that evolves over time into stalactites and stalagmites, i.e., from the floor to the ceiling and vice versa. The Limestone Caves excursion starts from Port Blair, through 100 km of a lush rainforest reserve. A vehicle ferry will take you from Middle Strait to Baratang Island. Semi Submarine Ride:

The Coral Safari Semi Submarine Ride is ideal, for those who want to explore the awesome marine life, off the coasts of the Andaman Islands, without getting their ‘beaks’ wet. There are no constraints to the depths that the submarine can dive to. As you dive into the waters of the Andaman Islands, you will find colorful coral, hordes of different fish species, large tunas, and manta rays.

The ride is open for all age groups. It is an adventure of a lifetime, especially for kids, and must be a part of your Andaman package. The Barren Island Volcano:

The only confirmed ‘active’ volcano in South Asia, is on the Barren Islands, of the Andaman Islands archipelago. While one cannot set foot on the island, one can dive into the waters around the island, which are considered to be the best scuba diving destination in the world, due to the crystal-clear visibility, an abundance of Manta Rays, and interesting basalt formations.

The Dormant Volcano of Narcondam Island:

256 km northeast of Port Blair is the dormant volcano of Narcondam Island. ‘Narcondam’ is coined from the word of the Tamil language - ‘Naraka Kundam’, or the pit of hell. As per the Andaman Island authorities, it is a wildlife sanctuary and a protected reserve. The Narcondam Hornbill is endemic to the island, along with Narcondam small flying fox and other species of birds and animals. Divers can explore the massive barrel sponges, huge gorgonian fans, and lush soft corals.

The Active Mud Volcanoes of Andaman Islands:

A mud volcano is caused by the eruption of hot mud, slurries, gases, and water from the ground, forming a dome-like mud structure.
