Egmont Key snorkeling is particularly well suited for the novice, because the water is so frequently clear, calm, shallow, and full of life. People of all ages and experience levels will take home wonderful memories about their time in the water with us. Our tours always provide an experienced crew, the utmost discretion for safety. Our comfortable boats offer water-level entry, and in-water ladders for safely returning to the deck. All snorkelers are supervised in the water, and may come-and-go on-board as they please while at the snorkeling site feel at ease knowing your family isn’t just safe, but about to experience the time of their lives!

We disembark at Egmont Key State Park. Formally a haven of pirates, soldiers, and native americans. Explore the 150+ year old lighthouse. Discover Spanish-American history among war forts, gun batteries, jails, and armories. (Imagine showing your children a history lesson they will never forget.) The island’s trails snake from history to wildlife refuge to the beautiful palm tree lined secluded beaches. Play on the white sandy shoreline of this island, only accessible by boat. Collect prehistoric sharks teeth and seashells of all shapes and sizes unique to Florida’s gulf coast.

The ruins of the gun batteries were so cool to scuba dive around, the fish were out in force, and the water temperature was perfect. Captain John was not only entertaining but also very knowledgeable about the surrounding shores and their histories.

We had a great time and getting to see the tortoises and dolphins were some of the highlights of our trip. We would highly recommend you check them out if you are thinking about snorkeling in this area!

We offer tours to Shell Key preserve by boat, clear kayak, or coastal kayak. Take a boat for snorkeling, or a kayak tour to explore mangrove tunnels and get up and close to wildlife.

Island Ferry's tours to Shell Key takes you on a fascinating tour into the 1800 acre Shell Key Preserve and its incredible wildlife! We offer these tours by boat, or on our Clear or Coastal kayaks. It's a wonderful way to see dolphins, manatees, rays, and wild shorebirds in their natural habitat (sightings are season dependent). From our boats, you get to swim and snorkel the waters of Shell Key island (we provide the snorkel gear, and floating noodles). From either the boat or kayak tours, you can also go shelling on the island, where you'll find hermit crabs, conchs, rays, horseshoe crabs, and more. ​Shell Key has so much to offer and Island Ferry has multiple options to get you there.

Whether you choose the boat, kayak, or paddleboards, these tours take you to visit the unspoiled beaches of Shell Key.
