It was very strange that the information of Tourradar was totally different then of Earthstompers. It also takes a lot ours to bring people to the airport and other places in Orr Elizabeth. The guide and the trip was good….. not te van, really to small.
Great tour! Our guide (Christine van Deveter) was awesome! So knowledgeable and went out of her way to make sure everyone was having a good time. Definitely recommend this tour!

Loved every minute of our stay in South Africa and I didn’t know what to expect from this beautiful country. I will definitely go back one of these days. Doing a tour was the best way for us , we saw a lot of South Africa .
Absolutely exceeded my expectations! A very thorough tour of South Africa, with more activities than I even imagined! Thank you for fulfilling one of my bucket list destinations!

Such an incredible journey to South Africa! Our tour guide, Arthur, was absolutely amazing. Not only was he incredibly knowledgeable about the country, but he was also super friendly and had a great sense of humor. We had such a fantastic time with him!
This tour was one of the greatest travel experiences I've ever had. Our CEO Alfred Dovey led the way throughout South Africa with such care and knowledge about everything we did while providing clear direction of what each plan of the day was and where we needed to be. I feel was was able to see, learn and experience South Africa in a way I could have never done on my own. I highly recommend this G Adventure tour.

Our guide was superlative. Our itinerary was superb. Our accommodation and food really satisfying and well beyond expectations. It was a great trip and I'd do it again at my first opportunity. And I'll recommend to far and wide!
The CEO was a fantastic asset for the group, very competent, experienced, caring and reassuring in every circumstance. I believe that's what makes a difference in any tour. The tour pace was a bit too fast but expected since we covered something like 3000 km in 11 days. Overall it was a great tour.

Our honeymoon vacation through South Africa was amazing! We got to see a little of everything and even with all the traveling around it was stress free. Our guide was terrific and we would 1000% book again!
Great itinerary, would have added Soweto as part of the standard to make the experience complete. CapeTown guide/driver was very pleasant, knowledgeable, prompt, and made us feel safe.

Our driver KT was amazing. His exceptional knowledge on culture, demography and even botany took away the monotony of the endless miles from Capetown. He looked after us from the beginning of the tour right until the moment we said our goodbyes. I rate him 5*The walk with the elephants 5* The safari5*. I thoroughly enjoyed my time on this tour😍
Very nice tour for people who want to explore Garden Route and do not have much time for it. Nev was an excellent guide.

Very comfortable pace tour, and u will get to see most of the good stuffs. It could have been shorter but at the expense of rush factor. But it's very comfortable for me. The tour guide Matt, and our driver Benny, were both very professional, with Benny also being a high average driver. Just take note of the optional tours and it's prices that you are keen to take up and prepare some cash in advance. Matt will arrange time for ATM visits occasionally though. Nice tour!
An incredible experience that will stay with me my whole life

The accommodation is very nice and the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. I would particularly like to highlight the trip through the Kruger National Park with Daniel, with whom I traveled alone in a jeep. He has an excellent eye for animals that I would never have seen on my own. The best way to describe his very friendly manner is to give you an example. We were driving on a dirt road and Daniel asked an elderly couple coming towards us if they had spotted any animals, which they agreed. A few meters further on, Daniel spotted a cheetah and immediately turned around to tell the couple, as you don't see cheetahs every day. They were very grateful and we were able to watch the cheetah for about 30 minutes before it moved too far away. Many thanks to Daniel and all the other people who made my stay unforgettable. I still don't know whether I will travel to the national park again. It does sometimes seem a bit bizarre when 10 fully packed jeeps stand around an animal to get the best angle for a photo. On the other hand, this way of deriving economic benefit from wildlife is probably the only one that can contribute to the preservation of their habitat. At least within capitalism.
Amazing trip, highly recommend. Tour leader was very lovely helpful. Great meals only need to be a bit earlier :)

The tour was amazing. We had a large variety of experiences and excellent guides. Everything ran very smoothly. We would highly recommend this tour.
Cost-effective with great guides -- Zach Tathane and Jonathon Muller. However, our objective is to photograph memories rather than just get to the next hotel. Don't necessarily need more tours but you must add more photo stops!

The Mzansi Experience

The Mzansi Experience

  • Excellent - 68 reviews for South Africa tours
The tour was really awesome. Each day we got to see so much and we were so lucky to get to see the Big 5! The only thing that let the experience down was the accommodation which was pretty dated and felt damp. But it had been wet and we were reluctant to overuse the aircon. The food was generous and the staff were very friendly and accomodating. Next time we go safari, we will spend a little more now that we know what to experimenter. Thank you for a great tour.
My Safari adventure at the Kruger National Park and panoramic tour in Johannesburg SA was a dream come true, a journey filled with unforgettable moments, breathtaking sights, and cherished memories that will stay with me forever. I wholeheartedly recommend this experience to all adventure seekers and nature enthusiasts looking to immerse themselves in the beauty of the African wilderness. Thank you, Tour Radar, Msanzi Experience and Team Kruger Adventure Lodge, for an amazing and wonderful lifetime experience that will forever hold a special place in my heart. Nelfa Cabrera-Lehnert

Globus

  • Excellent - 74,881 reviews for South Africa tours
DO NOT USE GLOBUS!!! Cape Town and Makalali Lodge were amazing and would highly recommend them. The hotel in Johannesburg was nice but was kind of a waste of time to go there for 2 nights just to get a glimpse of the Apartheid. That should have been skipped or moved to the end since we were flying out of Joburg and made it a post extension option. Victoria Falls was beautiful but again 2 nights there is too much. It should have been a day tour or just one night. Nothing to do there once you see the Falls. Never any water on buses in the cities and for the price we should have had this and more meals included. The most disappointing part was that our guide, Wendy. Not only was she not very warm or personable, she never waited for the group to gather before going to the sites, but she didn’t travel with us to Botswana. Globus never mentioned this in any pre-trip information and Wendy didn’t tell us until we were leaving for Zimbabwe. She made it sound like she was leaving but another Globus guide would fill in for the remainder of the trip. That was not what happened. When we left Zimbabwe, Wendy flew home, and the rest of the tour group got on bus to the Botswana border where another bus picked us up and took us to the lodge. We were on our own for the rest of the trip. The hotel staff at Elephant Valley Lodge was very nice and told us what we had to do for our remaining time, but we should have had Globus representation. So many things could have gone wrong, and they were lucky that nothing did. At Elephant Valey Lodge, our agenda said we would have morning and afternoon game activities where we could choose from a game drive in Chobe National Park or a boat excursion. It ended up that there was not a morning and an afternoon activity but instead, they made us leave at 8am and return at 4pm on an all-day jeep tour in Chobe National Park. 8 hours in a jeep was awful, hot and boring. This was totally false advertising. The tents at the lodge were similar to the picture on their website but much dirtier and lots of bugs. I wasn’t prepared for that. I would go back to Africa but definitely not with Globus. The part I left out was that Wendy came up to me in Victoria Falls and handed me papers that would be needed for the group for the remainder of our trip to Botswana and then back to JoBerg. She knew that I planned corporate incentive trips for my job so she decided I could manage the group once she left. She did not ask me, she just gave me the papers. I had our hotel certificates for Botswana, our flight information back to JoBurg, I had a list of attendees with their personal information and then my personal agenda. I should not have been given any personal information for the other travellers. I did tell her that I would not accept any responsibility for the group and that she needed to tell the entire group what was going to happen so we all knew what to expect. I said I would carry the papers but not be the point of contact. This was totally not acceptable. I filled out the survey and also sent emails to Globus. They have never responded to me. This is the most unprofessional company I have ever worked with. The fact that our guide left, the tour was not what was published, never water on any buses in Cape Town or Johannesburg, and didn’t respond to concerns about the trip is very frustrating. I DO NOT RECOMMEND GLOBUS FOR TOURS!!! There are better companies who are less expensive and have more included and way better customer service.
Linda, our tour director made everything run smoothly, was delightful company and a fantastic source of local knowledge and information. the selection of destinations was varied and interesting. Lots of animals to see.

Tourists are returning to South Africa – but the sector will need to go green to deal with the country’s electricity crisis

For the past 16 years South Africans have dreaded rolling power cuts euphemistically dubbed “loadshedding”. These are caused by the ailing state power entity Eskom’s crumbling infrastructure and its over-reliance on ageing and poorly maintained coal-fired power stations . Loadshedding has worsened in 2023, with some areas experiencing power cuts for up to 10 hours a day .

This crisis affects every aspect of the country’s economy, including its vibrant tourism sector. Tourism is a vital contributor to the South African economy. In 2019 the country welcomed over 10 million foreign visitors . The sector contributed up to 6.4% of the gross domestic product along with 1.5 million jobs (9.3% of total jobs).

These figures have contracted significantly because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Visitors are returning . But the financial recovery and viability of the sector, which is composed mainly of small businesses, continues to be hampered by the electricity crisis.

If tourism businesses are to literally and figuratively keep the lights on they must transition towards renewable electricity generation. There are three reasons for this. First, providing consistent electricity to their guests is essential for any tourism business. Second, renewable energy is less damaging to the environment than coal-based generation and its greenhouse gas emissions. Finally, customers are increasingly aware of environmental concerns. Many demand more sustainable tourism products and adjust their travel choices accordingly.

We are a team of interdisciplinary researchers with interests in tourism, sustainability and the environment who recently collaborated on a research paper that studied South Africa’s potential to break away from old forms of energy generation towards low carbon electricity generation. There are already some positive moves in this direction. But much more remains to be done. This will require the tourism industry and other economic sectors to step up.

What’s already being done

Some work is already being done to enhance the tourism sector’s environmental sustainability. The government’s Tourism Environmental Implementation Plan , published in 2021, facilitates greater participation by tourism establishments in renewable electricity generation and saving.

Read more: South Africa's power crisis will continue until 2025 - and blackouts will take 5 years to phase out

One initiative included in the plan is the tourism department’s Green Tourism Incentive Programme. It supports small tourism businesses by providing free energy and water audits. These can lead to improved efficiencies and the introduction of subsidised renewable energy systems. So far, 111 renewable energy projects have been funded . The Green Tourism Incentive Programme pays approximately two-thirds of investments. Individual businesses finance the remaining third.

In the private sector, the City Lodge hotel group shows what can be achieved by installing renewable energy systems . In 2020, solar panels generated just over 10% of the electricity requirements of the group’s 59 hotels.

Nature-based tourism is one of the mainstays of South African tourism products. South African National Parks, the body that manages national parks, has installed solar PV panels at 19 of its 21 parks. It is also putting in place other low-carbon strategies as well as climate adaptation plans .

Getting it done

While these examples are encouraging, they remain limited in size and scope. Most innovation in South Africa towards sustainable energy generation has been self-funded as a business survival strategy to deal with the consequences of power cuts. The shift to renewable electricity, along with its greenhouse gas and air pollution benefits, is a happy coincidence.

A broader transition, helped by access to finance on terms that can smooth its way, is necessary to bring about a system change for tourism. This can place the sector on a path that decouples it from coal-based electricity. It will also ensure that small businesses can adopt renewable electricity.

The green energy shift in tourism is already taking place in developed economies in Europe. Turkey is another encouraging example. It has introduced a sustainable tourism programme ; solar PV panels are used widely by businesses and households alike.

Through shifting the tourism sector to renewable energy, tourism in South Africa can be part of the just transition too. This transition must include small and community-based tourism players. And, while tourism must play its part, other economic sectors should also step up.

Supportive South African policies are indispensable in developing an enabling environment for sustainability transitions. The state and its institutions must take greater responsibility and accountability to advance the social sustainability of energy policies. One way this could happen is by making the Green Tourism Incentive Programme more accessible to tourism enterprises across the country.

'Aggressive' Bull Elephant Charges and Lifts Safari Truck Blocking His Path in Shocking Footage

T he field manager of the tour company involved in the incident said the elephant responded to tourists getting too close to take pictures

  • A safari truck had a frightening run-in with an angry bull elephant on March 20 at Pilanesberg National Park in South Africa
  • The elephant lifted and dropped the vehicle, which was filled with tourists, several times
  • The field manager for the tour company involved said the animal got "aggressive" after tourists got too close to take photos

Tourists on a safari in South Africa had a wild and unexpected animal encounter.

According to the Associated Press, a group of tourists were on a safari trip through Pilanesberg National Park in South Africa on March 20 when they encountered a pushy bull elephant.

The animal was unhappy with the vehicle's proximity. In response to the truck's presence, the wild animal charged toward the vehicle and tossed it several times, per the AP, almost piercing the truck with its tusks.

Footage from the incident shared on TikTok by @hendryblom shows the animal walking at the truck and then lifting it with his trunk while the driver of the vehicle yells at the enormous creature. In the video, the elephant drops the truck on the ground, backs away, then approaches the vehicle again and picks it up. After the elephant drops the safari truck for a second time in the clip, the vehicle reverses out of the animal's path.

"We might win next time at 2 truths and a lie," the TikTok user captioned the clip. The poster, named Hendry Blom, told ABC News that those who witnessed the clash "were definitely scared, especially for the people in the truck."

The shocking footage has received over 65.3 million views. A second video posted by @hendryblom shows the same incident from inside the safari vehicle.

According to the AP, the driver and passengers were not injured during their encounter with the elephant but were frightened by the interaction.

Poncho Mogodiri, the field operations manager of the tour company operating the vehicle, Mankwe Game Trackers, told ABC News the incident with the elephant occurred when tourists "came too close to the elephant to take pictures, and he started getting aggressive."

Mogodiri also said the elephant was in musth, a periodic condition in bull elephants that leads to increased reproductive hormones and aggressive behavior.

South Africa: Girl, 8, only survivor as 45 killed in bus crash

south african tourism company

SOUTH AFRICA: Forty-five people have died in South Africa after the bus they were in plunged some 50m (165ft) off a bridge into a ravine, authorities say.

An eight-year-old girl, the only survivor, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The bus crashed through a barrier and caught fire when it hit the ground in the north-eastern Limpopo province.

The passengers were pilgrims travelling from Botswana’s capital Gaborone to an Easter service in the town of Moria.

The vehicle lost control and went off a bridge on the Mmamatlakala mountain pass between Mokopane and Marken, around 300km (190 miles) north of Johannesburg, according to South African public broadcaster SABC.

Rescue operations went on late into Thursday evening, with some of those killed reportedly hard to reach amid the debris.
