2go travel cancelled voyage

2GO cancels 86 passenger voyages for Sept. due to MECQ

2go travel cancelled voyage

2GO Group, Inc. (2GO) has canceled 86  passenger  voyages to and from Manila from Sept. 1 to 30 due to the travel restriction  imposed by the government to contain the coronavirus pandemic.

2GO, which is engaged in the movement of people under the brand name 2GO Travel, announced on Aug. 31 the cancelation of 17 voyages from Sept. 1 to 6 between Manila and several destinations in the Visayas and Mindanao, including Cebu, Dumaguete, Bacolod, Iloilo, Cagayan de Oro, Zamboanga, and Butuan.

The listed company said the cancelations were made “due to the travel restrictions in and out of Manila brought about by the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) which limits [operations] to essential travels only.”

It made another announcement on Sept. 1 on the cancelation of 20 voyages from Sept. 7 to 12, 17 from Sept. 13 to 18, 16 from Sept. 19 to 23, and another 16 from Sept. 24 to 30.

Affected voyages are those between Manila and main destinations in the Visayas and Mindanao, including Cebu, Iloilo, Bacolod, Dumaguete, Ozamis, Cagayan de Oro, and Zamboanga.

2GO said it offers unlimited rebooking without additional charges on rebooking fees, which is valid for voyages until Dec. 31 this year.

Passengers can also reroute their trips or request a refund.

“We are also waiving surcharges or extra cost for refund and rerouting,” the company said.

The company recently reported that it trimmed its attributable net loss for the first six months of the year to P599.8 million from a loss of P730.5 million in the same period a year earlier.

2GO’s first-half revenues fell 14.3% to P7.8 billion from P9.1 billion in the previous year.   The group attributed its net loss for the first half to the continued slowdown in the economy brought about by the pandemic. — Arjay L. Balinbin

Note: The story has been updated to clarify that the word ‘voyages’ pertains only to the group’s passenger services.

The passenger sea service known as 2Go Travel is the sole Manila-based major interisland passenger ferry company. 2Go was founded in 2012 after a big realignment of various Philippine ferry services, including SuperFerry and Cebu Ferries. These brands were bought by Negros Navigation (NENACO), eventually retiring the “NENACO” label and forming 2Go Travel.

Today, 2Go serves many of the old SuperFerry and NENACO routes, with its whole fleet possessing a total passenger capacity of 7,450,162 passengers. It continues to be one of the most budget-friendly ways to transport people and things to different points in the Philippines, offering tour packages, affordable cargo delivery, and Roll On Roll Off (RORO) services.

2Go Travel is part of the 2Go Group which is a subsidiary of SM Investments Corporation, one of the largest conglomerates in the country.

The most popular 2Go Travel ticket options are Tourist Class and Cabin for 4 which offer the best value for your money. Sample 2Go Travel ticket prices are as follows:

  • Mega Value – USD32
  • Super Value – USD36

2Go ticket booking can be made in person in any of the company’s outlets or online via the official website or via OTA like us. Booking process is easy with instant confirmation.

When booking online, an e-ticket is issued, which should be then shown at boarding together with your valid ID. IMPORTANT! If you do not print out your e-tickets you will be asked to pay for your real ticket at the port.

2Go Promo Tickets

To grab the best deals with 2Go, shop during seasonal sales periods. 2Go Travel promo tickets are a great way to save big on your sea journey. The best strategy to take advantage of this is to subscribe to the company’s pages in social media. There are both promos for immediate travel and advanced booking.

  • 2Go has really placed a premium on the safety and comfort of their passengers. Security checks of luggage are always conducted. There is a sufficient number of life jackets on board, lifeboats, an in-house medical unit, a rescue boat and even a few police representatives.
  • The amenities and facilities are not to be frowned upon, either. There is always a good front office, a 24/7 cafe, a full bar, live entertainment, salons, and spas.
  • There are charging stations on board for passengers of all classes.
  • 2Go ships including common areas and toilets are generally cleaner compared to other ferries around the archipelago.
  • Overnight trips are a great way to save some bucks on accommodation and entertainment.
  • 2Go can arrange onward transportation for passengers through their partner companies to make your travel even more convenient.
  • Trips can be delayed or cancelled due to weather conditions, especially during the typhoon season. Be ready and be flexible. This is not the fault of the company, though. Yet in case of a delay no complimentary food and drinks are offered.
  • The refund process if you require one can take as long as 2 months if you cancel your tickets paid for by a bank card for any reason.
  • Air-conditioning is often freezing cold but overall the price and experience are hard to beat.
