Thailand Travel Mart Plus 2023 to focus on meaningful travel
Hot on the heels of last year’s edition which generated billion-dollar revenue for the Thai economy, the leading travel trade event to be held from May 31 to June 2 in Bangkok, continues to spotlight the industry’s ongoing efforts towards purposeful adventures through the promotion and development of high value and sustainable tourism
Brought to you by Tourism Authority of Thailand
Fully on-site this year, the upcoming Thailand Travel Mart Plus (TTM+) 2023, organised by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), will be held from May 31 to June 2 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Bangkok.
Serving as an invaluable business and networking platform for the travel trade, this year’s event is expected to attract over 850 participants, including 350 buyers from 50 countries, 400 sellers from across all five regions of Thailand, as well as 100 local and international media.
Buyers include those from key source markets such as Europe, ASEAN, East Asia, America, and Australia, as well as emerging markets such as Eastern Europe, Middle East, South America and South Africa.
The scheduled line-up of TTM+ 2023 features an opening ceremony, updates on Thailand’s tourism offerings, a TTM Talk for buyers and media, on-site appointment sessions, a welcome reception, as well as a product update on the Greater Mekong Subregion.
Participants can also expect buyer-seller appointments along with a networking lunch and business networking happy hour session.
There are also three pre-tour programmes from May 30 to 31 and six post-tour ones from June 3 to 5. The tour programming centres on meaningful travel, placing emphasis on experience-driven tourism activities, as well as showcases Thai cultural values through the kingdom’s 5F soft power foundations of food, film, festival, fight and fashion.
Additionally, TAT is also hosting the Amazing Thailand Culinary City event, alongside the TTM+ 2023, during the same dates and at the same venue.
Building on its stellar record Last year’s edition at Phuket recorded high levels of satisfaction among attendees on the quality and diversity of the programme, as well as business garnered.
The two days of buyer-seller appointments yielded about 8,000 business appointments and generated about 1.29 billion baht (US$38 million) revenue for the Thai economy.
As the TTM+ was held for the first time in Phuket last year, the 277 buyers from 42 countries and international media had the opportunity to see many of the new tourism offerings that have emerged there and the rest of Thailand post-lockdown, as well as the kingdom’s readiness to welcome international tourists in the new normal.
First held in 2001, the TTM+ has gained a reputation in visitor source markets worldwide and within Thailand’s tourism industry as a “must-attend” event on the travel trade calendar.
Held mostly in Bangkok each year since its launch, the event was relocated to Chiang Mai in 2016-17, Pattaya in 2018-19, and then Phuket in 2022 as part of the TAT’s strategy to promote provincial destinations.

Bangkok, 31 May 2023 – At the Thailand Product Update for buyers and media attending the Thailand Travel Mart Plus (TTM+) 2023, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) underlines quality, and experience-based tourism among key elements of Thai tourism products and services as part of its strategic move to transform Thailand’s tourism towards high-value and sustainable tourism.
Mr. Chattan Kunjara Na Ayudhya, TAT Deputy Governor for Marketing Communications, said “TAT is illustrating Thailand as offering meaningful-driven travel to improve visitors’ experience. Encompassing discovery, transformation, fulfilment, and engagement between people, cultures, and nature, this underscores TAT’s direction to making a destination for protecting the country’s vast natural and scenic beauty and instigating a range of environmental initiatives.”
Key elements of tourism products and services that reflect TAT’s overall strategies have included luxury tourism experiences, wellness tourism, and tourism towards sustainability.
Highlights for luxury tourism experiences include Live the Bangkok Life and Relaxing Phangnga plus Youthfully Phuket, while for wellness tourism, Thailand’s wellness possibilities include family-friendly wellness breaks in Chiang Mai; and immunity booster vacations in Ko Samui, Surat Thani.
Thailand’s tourism towards sustainability comprises a wide range of destinations and activities that deliver sustainability experiences, including exploring local community by bike at Bang Krachao, Samut Prakan; adventurer travel in Umphang, Tak; slow life at low- carbon destination on Ko Mak in Trat; and exploring the Little Amazon and surfing at the Memories beach in Takua Pa, Phangnga.
TAT is also developing a national drive that encompasses the entire Thai tourism industry with the development of the Sustainable Tourism Goals (STGs) based on the 17 goals of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by the United Nations. Among new initiatives include a STAR (Sustainable Tourism Acceleration Rating) system to certify sustainable tourism businesses.
Meanwhile, TAT continues to develop a new tourism ecosystem and elevate supply through such initiatives as the Thailand Tourism Awards, ‘Up- Skill Re-Skill’ human resources development project, and ‘CF Hotels’ online platform for hotel and lodging operators to sustainably manage businesses.
Mr. Chattan said “Key marketing strategies include the “Great Resumption Episode II” for short haul markets, focusing on the return of Chinese market, the growth of source markets and new segments, the integration of Amazing Thailand brand seamlessly in the tourist’s slice of life, responsible tourism, and expanding new markets. While for long-haul markets, TAT continues to collaborate with strategic partners and increase air connectivity, expand markets, and promote Thailand as an all-year round destination.”
Thailand celebrated a milestone achievement in 2022, welcoming a total of 11.15 million international arrivals, which generated revenue of 589 billion Baht, and recorded 189 million domestic trips, which generated revenue of 641 billion Baht.
For 2023, TAT hopes to see around 80 percent of the tourism revenue generated in 2019, which is expected to be 2.38 trillion Baht, which 1.5 trillion Baht will be generated from the overseas market and 880 billion Baht from the domestic market.

Thailand Travel Mart Plus 2023 attendance beats expectations
Posted by Greg Roxburgh | Jun 22, 2023 | Hospitality , National Tourism Boards , Travel & Culture | 0
Travel show Thailand Travel Mart Plus 2023 was a resounding hit, according to Tourism Authority of Thailand, after both the numer of local sellers and international buyers exceeded the expected quota.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand on Thursday said that TTM+ 2023 is expected to generate THB3.4 billion, or around USD97.1 million, in income for the kingdom’s tourism industry.
“The number of both sellers and buyers attending TTM+ 2023 surpassed the targets set, as did the number of overall business appointments conducted throughout the show. It was the strong growth in participants that reflected the positive rebound in Thailand tourism,” TAT Governor Yuthasak Supasorn said.
TTM+ is an annual trade fair and exhibition that promotes Thailand’s tourism industry. It serves as a platform for travel agents, tour operators, hoteliers, airlines, and other tourism-related businesses to showcase their products and services to potential buyers from around the world.
Sellers from Thailand and the Greater Mekong sub-region came in at 429, beating the target of 400 people and showing an increase of 62% compared to the year before.
Meanwhile, a total of 374 buyers attended from 50 different countries. This beat the target of 350 buyers and represented an increase of 66% from the year prior.
The show’s theme this year was “Visit Thailand Year 2023: Amazing New Chapters”. This comes as the Southeast Asian country pushes towards “a meaningful travel direction and increased focus on sustainable tourism”.
It is expected that business secured through TTM+ 2023 will convert to over 71,325 visitor arrivals to Thailand, TAT said.
This was the 20 th edition of the annual show . TTM+ 2023 took place from May 31 to June 2.
Earlier this year, Thailand beat its target for tourist arrivals after recording 6.2 million visitors in the first three months of the year, compared to the 6.0 million expected.
Between 25 to 30 million arrivals are expected in 2023, according to the government. This is below pre-pandemic levels of 39.8 million in 2019, according to data from Statista, but still a major improvement from 2022’s 11.2 million arrivals.
Earlier this week, Asia and Pacific members of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation reiterated their support for a common vision of sustainable tourism in the region as it recovers from the global pandemic.

Thailand Travel Mart Plus 2023 opens today
Wednesday, May 31, 2023 Favorite
The Thailand Travel Mart Plus (TTM+) 2023, the country’s leading B2B travel show, opens for business on 31 May 2023, ushering in a new era of business opportunities for buyers from around the world looking for meaningful, one-of-a-kind travel experiences in Thailand and within the ASEAN region.
The TTM+ 2023 is being held under the theme of ‘Visit Thailand Year 2023: Amazing New Chapters’ as part of the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s (TAT) strategy to highlight the country’s ongoing efforts towards a meaningful travel direction. The objective is to elevate supply and distribute tourism revenue countrywide while creating sustainability by leveraging the kingdom’s 5F soft-power foundations – Food, Film, Festival, Fight, and Fashion.
The positive rebound in the tourism industry reflects the strong growth of participants at TTM+ 2023, comprising 374 buyers from 50 countries, 435 booths of quality sellers from across Thailand and the Greater Mekong Sub-region, and 112 media from overseas and in Thailand.
Presiding over the opening ceremony, H.E. Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Thailand’s Minister of Tourism and Sports, said “The TTM Plus 2023 is a showcase of the Amazing New Chapters of Thailand’s tourism towards sustainability and being a quality destination. While continuing to be an important platform for all participants to foster a long-lasting business relationship, the event is also envisioned to highlight the leveraging of sustainable standards, technology, and Thai soft powers to transform Thailand’s tourism sector.”
This year, the TTM+ has returned to Bangkok after it was relocated to Chiang Mai, Pattaya, and then Phuket in previous years as part of the TAT’s strategy to promote provincial destinations. This provides a great time for overseas buyers and media to first-hand experience the growth of facilities, infrastructure, and business prospects that Bangkok has to offer after the travel and tourism industry has returned to normal.
Taking place from 31 May to 2 June at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre in Bangkok, the opening day programme includes a Thailand product update and TTM Talk, and the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) product update presented by Cambodia. The TTM Talk on the subject of ‘Building A Sustainable Future for Tourism with Innovation Technology’ is presented by Google Cloud Thailand.
Mr. Tanes Petsuwan, TAT Deputy Governor for International Marketing – Asia and the South Pacific, said “The TTM Plus is one of Thailand’s most significant B2B travel trade events and has gained its own reputation as a ‘must-attend’ on the annual travel trade calendar. This year’s event marks the 20th time that it is being held and continues to maintain Thailand’s market position, as well as help promote travel within the ASEAN region.”
The Thailand Pavilion, whilst continuing to be center stage for business negotiations, also reinforces the country’s direction towards sustainability led by technology, digital transformation, and sustainable practices.
As well as booths dedicated to ‘Technology’ and ‘Net Zero Tourism’, the TAT’s pavilion features unique tourism-related products and DIY workshops to showcase meaningful travel experiences on offer in Thailand. Other activities include an exhibition and tasting of seasonal fruits as well as a demonstration of brewing organic coffee, which will be served and paired with Thai dessert finger food.
Reflecting the event’s theme, the half-day pre-tours highlighted Bangkok’s responsible and sustainable tourism while the post-tours are tailor-made to showcase meaningful travel experiences in various aspects such as gastronomy, local way of life, and local wisdom across all five regions of Thailand.
