The best thing about YERCAUD is possibly the fact that there is very little to do. At an altitude of 5000 meters, this translates to the best way to enjoy some solitude, look aimlessly into the horizon and zone out. And Lake Forest enables you to do just that. Lake Forest is a very picturesque boutiqueish resort that will rejuvenate your city senses at every turn. I think the word that describes it the best is, tasteful. If ‘nature’ tops you things to do in your 2-day escapade to Yercaud, the verdant and withering mix of wood and greenery is just what you may need. The feel of the place is extremely soothing and the rooms over all very comfortable. The Chief General Manager Mr.Sunit Dutt was kind enough to take us on a recce of several of the rooms and should you have a similar chance you might come out confused on your ideal choice of a room – each of them are extremely tasteful and unique. The resort is in the midst of a small coffee plantation and a walk around the place is just outside your room. The resort offers a small but very picturesque walking trail and is a stone’s throw (almost opposite) the Yercaud Lake. Food on the A La Carte menu was very well priced and well made. There were a few glitches on the room service but it didn’t mar the overall experience over all. I however would have expected a little more variety and options over their breakfast and other buffets given their pricing of the rooms. The other similar priced options in Yercaud are GRT Nature Trails and Hotel Grand – we checked out both of them; while they were extremely good with the creature comforts, none matched the natural warmth that Lake Forest exuded. I am pretty sure where I would like to stay on my next trip to Yercaud.

This was a quickly planned trip and we booked up in GRT without much prior research done. Was really happy to find that it was worthy decision taken. Though it a bit pricy , the views and service levels by staff took off that feel. Wonderful Balcony views of the Valley from every room. And awesome terrace views of the Salem city lights in the night ( ofcourse you need to have clear sky views to enjoy the night views) . Since yercaud does not seem to offer a lot of roaming around location, so staying in resort and enjoying the facilities with lazy breakfasts and dinner eventually turn out to be best. A special mention for the Service levels and dedication of the staff there, especially for the Ladies from "NorthEastern" states . They were awesome in their courteousness , promptness and did everything with a cheer and i can sense that this brought the services levels offered by Resot to highest grade i have experienced till now in south India. A revisit plan in few months again.

We stayed a couple of nights at this hotel. 2 things that stood out were the hotel location and staff service. The hotel is located at a height providing panoramic views from 2 sides. The front of the hotel looks over the Yercaud lake and the town. The backyard (the one with the swimming pool and children play area) looks over lush green mountain ranges. If you are going to Yercaud just to relax, you can just park yourself at this hotel and de-stress yourself. In case you want to venture out for a quick break, most Yercaud attractions (Killiyur Falls, Shevaroyan temple, Boathouse, Deer park, Anna park) are just10-15 mins away. The staff was extremely welcoming and ready to help. Each and every hotel staff that I met during my stay greeted me with a smile and helped me with my needs.

Pros: Wonderful resort to stay... Cons: Approach roads to the resort from the Salem Yercaud Highway was ordinary and a let down...

We stayed at Happy Nest Resorts, Yercaud for 3 nights. The location is very good and close to city center & lake. The property is well maintained and has a beautiful garden & landscape. The staffs are courteous and tries to help the guest in all the possible ways. The food at the restaurant is very tasty and prepared as per guest’s requirement. We ordered something which is not there in their menu, still they prepared for us. It was a memorable vacation for my family and we enjoyed each and every bit of it and thanks to Happy Nest team.

Clean and very well maintained facility. Enough greenery and activities within the campus itself, so you can spend your day in the resort itself. Morning trekking to Yercaud temple was a great experience and it is arranged by the resort at a nominal fee. Also you can try the offroad jeep safari in one of the two cool jeeps they have. Overall a very nice experience

Well i had a pleasant stay in this hotel, breakfast was delicious and the view from the restaurant and room was awesome. i should say we loved the stay. staffs were extremely helpful and they were kind, they provided us the best based on our demand. Few points which hotel management should focus on are as below 1. Hotel policy is to clean the rooms when travellers are present,i completely agree to this however i would suggest management to proactively check for cleaning the room. 2. daily free water bottles wasnt delivered to us on the second day, could have done this 3. there were frequent power cuts when it rains, but travellers should note that this is a hill station shouldnt expect more, Golden Nest has generators for TV fan lightetc etc ... which is good and appreciated. we took 2 rooms out of which the electricity wasnt available in one of the room, but it was sorted out by the electrician upon phone calls. I am going to visit again to this hotel on 1st of August. Hoping to get same kind of hospitality. A big applause for Golden Nest thank you for making our stay so memorable Regards Viji

I was pretty excited about my stay in Sterling yercaud as I had heard great reviews about it. But in reality, it turned out to be an average experience. Below are my points: Good: 1. Excellent location - the property is right on a cliff which offers the best view of the valley! Better than any viewpoint facing Salem! Clouds visiting your room appears surreal, but it's real!! The most amazing experience 2. Restaurant - a very clean restaurant, very good service, tasty food (can increase more items though) Bad: 1. Room issues: Standard room - badly designed. Restrooms had no exhaust. It was stinking over every use! We called up room service who sprayed freshener every time. Dressing mirror in wrong position. Terribly soft spring mattress, gave a back ache. No facility to hang wet clothes. 2. No AC - unlike ooty or madikeri, yercaud is not cool when it gets sunny. It's close to tropical sun. I was unaware that there isn't AC for the price paid!!! 3. Everything is charged - activity room which is average in maintenance, is charged for playing!! Even WiFi is charged! (They have a dummy 1 hr per room free policy)

Rooms were spacious and the view from room was excellent. Competitors offer modern amenities better than Shevaroys but can't be compared. Shevaroys is a very big property and all rooms are sorrounded by lot of trees and the view is awesome. The advantage is that they have a catering college of their own and no wonder staff are young, energetic and well trained. Food was excellent. I saw many guests from neighbourhood hotels coming to the restaurant here. I just feel that the tariff is on the higher side. Other than that, no complaints.

I stayed in resort for 2 days with my family. We stayed in Executive room. Hotel is with basic amenities, full of natural light and open space and enough parking. It is peaceful and situated on main road in Yercaud. We were travelling in our own car so reaching to hotel was not an issue. However since hotel is close to bus stand and buses pass infront of the layout gate so reaching to hotel is not difficult . The hotel is just 100 meter from the layout gate so one feels quite safe. The hotel property is situated between greenery and surrounded by plants and trees. You can hear chirping sounds and see lot of small birds and butterflies. We went for morning walks in the inside roads and enjoyed the morning scenery for 2 days. My 6 year old daughter was having her adventure with trying to catch butterflies and playing with "touch me not plants". We were happy to give her the time without much use of electronic gadgets and tv due to natural beauty of the place.

We had a nice small trip in good company. The hotel was good for it. Large rooms ,nice restaurant with Goodview and quiet surroundings were enjoyable. However, trainees alone cannot provide desired service .But all the staff were trying their best . The Entrance , Reception Toilets and Parking areas can be improved to match our expectations.

We booked this hotel as we were just staying for two nights and Tripadvisor showed this as the best in B&B. This hotel actually lived upto whatever was mentioned. The rooms were big cosy and had one of the best mattress in a hotel in India. The quilt was a thin one but surprisingly very warm and cozy. The food was hot and home cooked and even being a North Indian we loved it. The staff was very prompt to help and that is without the expectation of any tip and all. This hotel made our hotel one of the best that we ever stayed in India.

We really enjoyed the trip, because our stay is a main reason. The hotel staff are really polite and good hospitality. The hotel is quite far(~2 km) from the main(boating point) but it is not a matter if you want anything the hotel staff will arrange it. We stayed in room 103, it is a valley focused room and i spent lot of time in the balcony to enjoy the valley view. If you are travelling from salem to yercaud by bus, then you could get down in boating point stop and take some auto to reach the hotel. We got down in forest stop and it is difficult to reach the hotel by walk

It's ok, location is very good. Rooms are big, cafeteria is ok with limited number of dishes, and with limited I mean 3-4 items only. Cons - no electricity backup during evening, no wifi, very less network coverage so wifi is like must have. Staff is ok. Pretty tough to make them understand if you don't know the local language.

This is a cute lil place with 7-8 rooms. So the amenities are not that much. But the location is great - perched on a hillock overlooking Yercaud, ambience is Awssome, staff is friendly, service is great, property is well maintained and they still serve a 11 course breakfast! My wife loved the photo ops- the property has lots of them- terracotta roofs, flowers, decorative pillars, etc. But the highlight of our stay was the evening bonfire and great Hindi music of 80s and 90s. Great selection of songs- every one of them a hit of it’s own time. We had a great time warming ourselves with bonfire and a hot cuppa tea listening to a great medley, while our dinner was getting ready. Great place! Highly recommended.

This is just a single 2BHK house converted to a rental accommodation for tourists. PROs 1. Situated very close to the lake, 90% of your Yercaud trip will be centred around the lake, so staying close to the lake is an advantage, you could do most of your trip by walk. 2. The accommodation is essentially a house, so it's convenient for a family of 5-10 members to stay together in a single place, rather than book multiple rooms in a hotel. CONs 1. Owner/manager don't stay nearby, they'll know you booked only if you call. 2. Extremely overpriced for standard/quality maintained - no soaps, no towels provided until asked, not enough pillows, not enough bedding, dirty floors, broken door handles, only one bath has geyser, very small beds (ad saying king bed/ super king bed is a BIG lie!), unsafe for kids (the stair case, raised step in hall - 3 kids fell badly, 1 bled and had a lip cut). If I was the owner, I would return at least half the money charged! 3. I'm never coming back here again!

Small village set around a lake. The whole town grew out of a British hill station, and still has some semblance of a European lay out.

Traveling from Salem to Yercaud in a taxi costs around Rs.900 for a non AC Ambassador. If you are traveling in the morning, it will be very pleasant and A/C is not required.

The ride takes about 45 minutes to an hour. If you do not want spend the entire day sightseeing, and find the taxi rates very costly, you can hire autos for sightseeing. Its a very small city, and autos are more cheap. You can hire an auto for 3 hours for about Rs.400 (which taxis will charge around 900Rs for the same 3 hours) and see all the major spots which require travel, such as Rose Garden, Ladies' Seat - Gent's Seat - Childrens' seat (all in the same place), and Pagoda Point. The taxi and auto drivers will give the impression that they are all far away, but all the "seats" are pretty much together. So you should not be duped! By breaking your travel into small chunks, you wont be too exhausted, and can retire to the room for lunch and some rest. You can buy some local produce such as fresh coffee, aromatics, cardamom etc. also.
