All leather used to manufacture our range of “vellies shoes or veldskoen” is a by-product from the meat industry and have been sourced from sustainable resources in Southern Africa, so for a true South African product, look no further!

The name “vellies” comes from the Afrikaans word for skin, “vel,” referring to the leather that the shoes are made of. The word “vel” was later changed to “veld,” which means field, and the traditional Veldskoen was born.
