They have one sign giving directions on their property, which is huge, and you can't find anything. You are given like 2 and a half hours there but 30 minutes in the middle are for a tour and you have to eat during the other time you have, if you can even find the restaurant which once again doesn't have signs leading to it. We searched for the blacksmith and could never find it. Out tour guide for the house was a really mean woman who hated to answer questions. The tour through the house also sucked. They bring a bunch of you in a single file line into a room so that you go all along it and then talk about things that only one person can see and then they leave. There is no room to move and you can barely see what they are talking about before you are rushed out of the room. It was awful. Truly terrible. We even did what our tour guide said and ate at the horrible smaller restaurant that has "premade" tiny sandwiches so that we would have mire time to explore but that didn't help at all. The line was huge and the people working there took forever. It seems like the people who set this up had good intentions, but this is so unprofessional done that major exhibits have no signs leading to them or at them saying what they are. This was incredibly disappointing. The staff were not friendly. The only person who was talking to us at the plantation was a guy dressed so unprofessional you could barely tell he worked there. All he talked about was how all "his people" thought about was defending and keeping their property... he sounded like he was going to start a militia, but at least he was actually nice to people. The plantation and swamp tours should not be combined. This was the biggest waste. The swamp and alligator tour was fun, funny, informative, and I got a lot of great photos/videos. The oak alley plantation was terrible. Read more Written March 30, 2024

  • Happiness01360176519 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Where history and reality meet. Kate and Alton were a great duo for the trip. Kate was nice and informative, meeting us outside the plantation and pointing us to each site. The gorgeous environment and somber history is a place I feel everyone should visit to ensure history stays in the past and the enslaved are never forgotten. The swamp tour was also incredible. Lots of architecture information, some local history details, interesting information on the cemeteries and how they work. NO time to wander and look at the cemetery. Barley enough time to use the bathroom at the one bathroom stop given which also ment NO time to see anything or wander at the park. Read more Written March 25, 2024
