When Feid started preparing for his second headlining trip around the United States, he wanted to make sure audiences felt and saw a difference between what was his first “Ferxxo U.S. Trip” and 2023’s “ Ferxxo Nitro Jam Underground Tour .” That goal sent the Colombian artist and his creative team back to the drawing board — but not with the intention of a restructure, Feid says, but rather an enhancement.

Despite the fact his “U.S. Trip” wrapped not too long ago in November, Feid confidently asserts the tour “doesn’t at all compare” to what audiences are getting now.

“We changed everything,” he tells Variety . “The first tour [in the U.S.] that we did was so basic because I was trying to [emulate] a hip-hop vibe… With a bigger stage, we have screens, we have the monster truck, we have lasers and it’s all on a different level. We’ve expanded the entire experience.”

One interesting addition to the show is the video introduction that is projected onto a large white sheet, meant to build suspense about what’s hidden behind it. With Spanish subtitles, the booming voice of an animated green sludge is heard prompting: “Are you ready to perrear ? Leave all your worries behind and brace yourselves as we take you directly underground — remember tonight you’ll glow like never before.”

“For me, it was important to change details for this tour specifically — while still maintaining the same essence,” he says. “We did the Ferxxo U.S. Trip with the same setlist that we did [for our] Latin American [dates] so I really wanted to change it up because I’ve released so much more music since then.”

While Feid’s concerts have always incorporated boyish props like dirtbikes and graffiti, the inclusion of massive revolving monster trucks — both inside and outside of the venue — is just one of the several crucial visual ingredients that are a staple of the show.

Ahead of his performance, Feid spoke to Variety about his career thus far and talked about life on the road as he gears up to share his next album.

You’ve just started this tour run. How are you feeling?

This has been like a dream for us. We had the chance to open for Karol G’s [Bichota] tour like two years [ago] and now we are doing our own tour… I’m feeling so grateful, so happy [to see] people wearing green clothes, wearing the Ferxxo glasses with the mustache and everything. I think it’s the most important thing for me to feel the crowd connect with me and my music. My album is ready so I’m at peace with myself — just singing for all of these people.

So the album’s done, and you’ve been dropping a couple of collabs in the past few weeks, but are you still recording while out on the road or making any adjustments?

Of course, I’m always traveling with my studio. I’m here with Wain, who is one of my producers, and we’re always trying to be creative. It’s like the gym. I got my mic here, my laptop and everything. I don’t have plans to do any specific song — but I’m sure something will come along during a bus ride or hotel session. But right now, I’m focused on the live performance aspect of what I’m doing.

Have you tested out some of the new releases on the road yet?

Towards the end of the show, we have this moment where we run a list of movie credits [in the background] and we [play] this new song which we made for Sprite as part of their new campaign with us called Sprite Limelight. We’re leaving hints and messages to people to let them know what’s coming.

Your shows and stages are only getting bigger. Is an arena run on your radar?

On the real, arenas for me are the most beautiful places to perform. In Latin America, we did this arena tour… in [places like] Ecuador, Peru and Colombia, but I’m looking forward to taking my music to the next level by reaching more people in arenas. I’m not sure yet about stadiums because that to me is… huge. I really want to connect with people when I’m singing and performing. I like that I can look at them and really enjoy the whole experience.

Celebrated reggaeton and música urbana artist Feid is set to kick off his first Latin American tour in February, in partnership with CMN Events, one of the most influential entertainment companies in the industry.

With “Ferxxo Nitro-Jam Tour,” Feid will perform in popular cities across Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Costa Rica, Peru, and Ecuador. Additionally, other countries will be announced soon.

“‘Ferxxo Nitro-Jam Tour’ alludes to the strength of his music and the explosive power of his lyrics with his fans. For the artist, who is living the best moment in his career, being in front of his audience and taking his show to the most important cities in the continent is a challenge and at the same time a reward for the career he has built,” says Viviana Suarez, who leads the booking department at CMN.

In December, Feid returned with a new EP, Sixdo , a thrilling way for him to close his monumental 2022. The project includes features from Zion & Lennox and DJ Premier–making Feid the first Latinx artist to work with the legendary rap producer.

Back in mid-October, Feid premiered a music video for his celebrated single “Prohibidox,” which almost immediately launched to No.3 in terms of trending videos worldwide.

“Prohibidox” quickly became a fan favorite song off the album, Feliz Cumpleaños Ferxxo Te Pirateamos El Album and has also become a key moment in Feid’s concerts as fans sing along word for word. On release, the album garnered over half of a billion digital streams and has received a Latin Gold certification by the RIAA in record time – within a week of release.

Feliz Cumpleaños Ferxxo Te Pirateamos El Álbum is a project comprised of Feid’s most popular songs from this 2022, including, “Feliz Cumpleaños Ferxxo,” “Si Te La Encuentras Por Ahi,” “Castigo,” “Nieve,” “Ferxxo 100,” and Ferxxo’s iconic anthem, “Normal,” which debuted at the No.27 position in Spotify’s global chart.

¿Quién es Feid o Ferxxo?

Salomón Villada Hoyos, nacido el 19 de agosto de 1992 en Medellín, es un cantante, compositor y productor musical conocido artísticamente como Feid y Ferxxo . Acumula 40 millones de oyentes mensuales en Spotify y actualmente, dentro de la plataforma de música digital, es el artista número 65 más escuchado del mundo . 

Su carrera musical comenzó escribiendo temas para artistas de talla internacional como J Balvin o Nicky Jam. En 2015 publicó su primer proyecto discográfico: Así como suena , un disco formado por 9 temas. En 2017 se estrena su álbum debut de la mano de Universal Music: Así como suena , que cuenta con 17 temas y colaboraciones con Nacho , en 911 ; y J. Balvin , en Que Rar o , uno de los primeros éxitos de su carrera como cantante.

En 2019, Feid publica 19 , su segundo álbum de estudio que contiene 12 temas. Con él, consigue su primera nominación a un premio Grammy Latino y desde ahí, la carrera de Feid no ha hecho más que ir siempre hacia arriba. Además, en este mismo año se une a Dalex, Justin Quiles, Lenny Tavárez y Sech en el EP The Academy , que acumula millones de reproducciones en cada uno de los siete temas que lo forman. 

2020 fue el año en el que Feid se consolidó como artista gracias a los múltiples éxitos que cosechó gracias, entre otros temas, a Porfa con Justin Quiles y Relxjxte con Sky Rompiendo . Posteriormente, Porfa Remix con Nicky Jam, J Balvin, Maluma y Sech aumentó la popularidad del tema, sumando más de 250 millones de reproducciones en Spotify. Este remix está incluido en Bahía Ducati , un mixtape donde encontramos colaboraciones con Ñejo y Sech , entre otros cantantes.

Feid publica en el verano de 2021 su EP IS-LM: Loading… y, dos semanas después, su cuarto álbum de estudio INTER SHIBUYA – LA MAFIA vio la luz con 15 temas. Tal fue el éxito, que en diciembre de ese mismo año publica INTER SHIBUYA (FERXXO EDITION) donde añade colaboraciones con Mora , Karol G y Eladio Carrión . 

FELIZ CUMPLEAÑOS FERXXO TE PIRATEAMOS EL ÁLBUM es el quinto álbum de estudio de Feid , publicado en septiembre de 2022 y que contiene temas tan sonados como Normal , Feliz Cumpleaños Ferxxo , Si Te La Encuentras Por Ahí o Pantysito . Además de múltiples colaboraciones como En La de Ella con Jhay Cortez y Sech , La Inocente con Mora o Yandel 150 con Yandel , Feid también publicó un EP en el pasado diciembre que contiene el tema Chorrito Pa Las Animas .

El cantante colombiano Carlos Vives fue homenajeado anoche por la Sociedad Americana de Compositores, Autores y Editores (ASCAP, por sus siglas en inglés) con el premio ASCAP Founders Award 2024.

En el evento celebrado en la ciudad de Miami, Vives recibió el galardón de manos de Paul Williams y Afo Verde, presidente de Sony Music y lo hizo junto a su esposa Claudia Elena, algunos de sus hijos, Walter Kolm y parte de su equipo de trabajo.

Vives se sintió complacido por el reconocimiento de ASCAP. “Y lla verdad es que sólo pienso en los viejos compositores de la música colombiana, hombres y mujeres que han sido un ejemplo y nos han dejado un legado para seguir construyendo un mundo mejor con nuestra música. Me hacen sentir que formo parte de esto y lo comparto de corazón con todos ellos”, señaló a través de un comunicado el cantante de Santa Marta, Colombia, Carlos Vives.

Este reconocimiento que se le otorga a compositores y autores que han realizado contribuciones pioneras en la música al inspirar e influir en otros creadores musicales ha sido entregado en el pasado a figuras como Marc Anthony, Ruben Blades, Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Emmylou Harris, Billy Joel, Paul McCartney, Carly Simon, Arturo Sandoval, Rod Stewart, James Taylor, Steven Tyler & Joe Perry, Stevie Wonder y entre otros, pero en esta ocasión llegó a manos de Vives en un momento importante de su carrera musical ya que celebra 30 años de trayectoria.

Cada uno de los artistas que ha sido honrado con este premio posee un estilo único y creativo que enriquece a las generaciones futuras de la música y Carlos Vives es uno de esos artistas que ha sabido transmitir a través de su arte a todo un país y su cultura.

En esta edición 2024 Universal Music Publishing Music Group también fue reconocida con el Premio ASCAP a la Editora del Año por sus éxitos en la industria musical. Entre las canciones galardonadas estuvieron “CLASSY 101”, de Feid & Young Miko; “Feliz Cumpleaños Ferxxo”, de Feid; “Lala”, de Myke Towers; “Rumbatón”, de Daddy Yankee; “Solo Conmigo”, de Romeo Santos y “La Jumpa”, de Arcángel y Bad Bunny, entre otros.

El premio igualmente llega en momentos cuando el documental “Regreso a Escalona” se estrena hoy miércoles 3 de abril a través de la plataforma de Vix, propiedad de Televisa Univision. Este trabajo ha sido toda una inspiración para Vives, quien le rinde homenaje a Escalona a través de su más reciente álbum galardonado al Latin Grammy “Escalona: Nunca Se Había Grabado Así”.

Y mientras sigue celebrando, Vives se prepara para llevar su nuevo tour “El Rock De Mi Pueblo Vive”, a escenarios de Europa, donde inicialmente aterrizará en 6 ciudades de España, además de la icónica ciudad inglesa de Londres.

A finales del 2023, Carlos Vives se presentó en la ciudad de Los Ángeles como antesala a su participación en los Latin Grammy de Sevilla y en esa ocasión, el artista colombiano trajo su espectáculo “El Tour de los 30”, un espectáculo musical tradicional que recorrió Nueva York, Chicago, Boston, Washington, Miami, Orlando, Dallas y Houston, bajó el telón en el escenario del Peacock Theater de Los Ángeles el pasado domingo 5 de noviembre con un caluroso público que hizo sentir al nacido en Santa Marta como si estuviera en casa.
