The passenger compartment is equipped with six individual and comfortable seats guaranteeing a window seat for each guest. In addition, a seventh seat is available next to the guide. All our vehicles are fitted with a safari fridge, powered by the car battery, for keeping your drinks cold and refreshing.

220  Volt electric sockets  for battery chargers ensure that you won’t miss capturing any of the special moments you will experience on your safari.

The powerful engines allow the vehicles to manage various kinds of terrain without any difficulties even when traveling on roads that are off the beaten track. Regular services on the motors are essential to ensure continued reliability. Your safety is our priority.

All our guides only drive their “dedicated” safari vehicle. This results in optimized maintenance, handling, and caretaking of our fleet on the one hand and safe and secure driving due to being familiar with the specific Landcruiser on the other hand.

As there is limited space available in the luggage compartment, we ask all our guests to restrict their luggage to 15 kg in weight. The Toyota Landcruiser Extended; 6 or 7 seater 4×4 Jeep knows how to navigate the toughest African roads.

This car has over the years proven to be robust and unbreakable! With the recent innovations, additional modifications have been made to provide extra comfort and drivability for the Landcruiser. The extension of the chassis has allowed for the originally 5 seater car to now carry 5 – 6 passengers (excl. the driver) and several other necessary extras including; Larger windows, charging points, a fridge, etc….. as we have explained below.

First Aid Kit

Each of our Toyota Landcruiser safari vehicles is equipped with a first aid kit to cater to emergencies while on the road. Our driver-guides are trained to handle minor emergencies while on safari.

Pop-up Roof Top

Each of our Toyota Landcruiser Extended vehicles has a rooftop that can lift up to afford you a 360° view of your surrounding. This makes it the ideal vehicle for viewing, photography, or Filming Wildlife.

Each of our Toyota Landcruiser Extended vehicles has a small fridge fitted so as help keep your drinks onboard chilled for when you need to sip off a cool drink while on a game viewing Safari.

Power Inverter

The vehicles are each fitted with power adapters to make it possible for you to charge your cameras, laptops, and any other electronics while you travel.

Travellers Tip: Please bring your own converter plug(s).

Larger windows

Each of our Toyota Landcruiser Extended vehicles is fitted with large windows that afford occupants a clear and undistracted view of their surroundings. These also allow for better photography and filming of Wildlife.

Our Toyota Landcruiser safari vehicles are rebuilt to provide more space for occupants to freely move around the vehicle especially photographers and filmmakers that might need to switch positions to be able to capture a particular scene.

After much rigorous trial and testing we finally decided upon the 79 series as our across the board flagship vehicle. These vehicles offer us the rugged base from which to build our bespoke style of vehicle. We are incredibly happy with how they have turned out. They offer us the space, reliability and strength that we believe is necessary for our safaris. ‍ They make great vehicles for families of four or in extremis five (although please call us to discuss the logistics!). They easily hold 2 roof tents and if you are strict on personal luggage then we can sometimes squeeze in a ground tent too.

You must be over 20 years old, have a passport with a valid visa and a valid driving license from your country of origin or an international driving license. .

Vehicles do come with third part insurance covering only the third part, the vehicle damage and their accessories are not covered. Upgrading to Comprehensive is possible at an extra fee.

A security deposit of USD 1000 is required and must be paid together with the rental price by credit card.

In Tanzania and Kenya we drive on the left side of the road. The speed limit inside the national parks is 50KPH, and tar roads are 80KPH, unless there is a sign pointing otherwise. Consult us for some tips and suggestions.

Our cars do not have a mileage limit per day, an added benefit for you.

Tanzania and Kenya is consdered very safe for doing self drive safari. Self Drive activities in Parks in Tanzania and Kenya are allowed and include overnight stays in public or special camps. We recommend booking and paying the fees in advance. To understand more about the rules, our expert team is ready to help you.

Safari vehicles must serve several purposes: they must allow you to sit in comfort for game drives, offer excellent viewing opportunities, and be tough enough to withstand the demands of the tanzanian wilderness..

We ensure that our travelers always have access to a clean, well-maintained vehicle, appropriately sized and equipped for their group and activities. Bobby Tours’ guests travel in up-to-date and immaculately kept vehicles appropriate for the territory and itinerary. The safari vehicles are fully equipped with radios, bottled water, field guides, binoculars and other amenities for comfort and safety.

With the exception of transfers within Nairobi and Arusha, when minibuses are used, we use four-wheel-drive vehicles(4×4) – custom built safari Land Cruisers and Land Rovers – exclusively on all our safari programs.

Our safari vehicles are converted into custom-built safari cars, with pop-up roof to enable visitors to view wildlife better. Vehicles are fitted with thickly-cushioned individual seats.

We only use four-wheel-drive vehicles(4×4) – custom built safari Land Cruisers 4×4 – exclusively on all our Tanzania safari programs.

All safari cars have two-way radio communication equipment fitted to keep in contact with Head Station Base Radio located in our office Arusha.

A cool box, a pair of binoculars and reference books on mammals, birds, flora and fauna are all standard equipment in each vehicle.

Bobby Tours And Safaris operates with 4×4 safari vehicles and strives to ensure the best combination of comfort and effectiveness. The terrain does not allow for luxury-style vehicles. Vehicles are equipped with the necessary safari equipment, as well as a basic first-aid kit. Our safari driver/guides are well trained for handling vehicles under extreme 4×4 and safari conditions and put the safety of our clients first at all times. Transport arrangements are ensured and facilitated to the very last detail on behalf of the client, e.g. when it is necessary to take a domestic flight, if we can not collect you personally, transport will be arranged to and from your accommodation.

The 4 x 4 Toyota Landcruiser Safari vehicle is one of Tanzania's best options for a Safari and the most popular infact, offering improved comfort and better versatility than tour vans and allowing tourists to access parks such as Serengeti, Tarangire & Ngorongoro which have challenging road conditions or as is the case nowadays, may only allow 4by4 vehicles within their wildlife areas. This vehicle comes fitted with UHF Radio Call, game viewing hatches and additonal safari customization such as cooler boxes to carry drinks. At Explorer Kenya Safaris, we provide 4×4 safari vehicle hire and rental. We have a fleet of 25  4 x 4 safari land cruisers and safari customised vans for hire . Each vehicle is accompanied by an experienced safari guide who is also a professional driver. Our vehicle licences require the car to be driven by our driver guides. This is because the vehicles are licenced as tour service vehicles (TSV) under Kenyan law. Therefore, our experienced safari driver guides must drive the cars with the necessary tour guide licence. Our guides have between 10 and 35 years of experience guiding wildlife safaris. We can also assist you in booking your hotels and arranging your safari itinerary. 4×4 Safari Vehicle Hire – Car Rental for Safari Customized 4×4 Land Cruisers, Jeeps, and Safari Vans

We have a wide range of safari vehicles that can withstand all-terrain. Vehicles include safari mini-vans with a top hatch for easy game viewing, 4 x 4 all-terrain safari land cruisers, and 25 seat shuttle buses for groups.

All our safari vehicles are customised for the rough safari terrain and are well serviced and in excellent condition to ensure they do not break down when you are on your safari in Kenya . The safari vehicles are also fitted with long-range high-frequency radio so that driver-guides can communicate in parks when searching for wildlife on game drives. Note we are a destination management company (DMC) based in Kenya, so we can also assist you in planning your safari in Kenya and Tanzania at no extra cost, even when all you need is to hire a safari vehicle. We will advise on the best places to visit depending on the safari season and the most appropriate places to stay when in or near parks for the best safari experience. We can also help you book accommodation and advise on park fee payments, and if it’s all too much work, we can arrange the whole safari for you as a package depending on your requirements. 4×4 Car Hire Kenya – Types of Safari Vehicles Available for Hire

There are five types of vehicles available for hire for your safari in Kenya and Tanzania. These are

• eight seat 4×4 Land Cruisers
• seven seat 4×4 Land Cruisers
• five seat 4×4 Land Cruisers
• eight seat safari vans
• 25 seat shuttle buses

Each vehicle has its advantages and use. Groups mainly use the shuttle buses for transfers within cities since they are not made for rough terrain. The other four types of vehicles are specially made for safari and have pop-up roofs which open up vertically to ensure you can stand on a game drive and take photos of animals and birds while in national parks and game reserves. They have large slide windows that you can open and enjoy your game drive in the park if you get tired of standing to use the pop-up roof. Some seven and five seat Land Cruisers are also customised specially for wildlife photography. They have canvas roll-up windows which, your driver-guide will roll up before a game drive for an expansive view and easy manipulation of your cameras (especially with long photography lenses!) when taking photos. These vehicles are ideal for wildlife photography safaris. Note bean bags can be provided free of charge – on request – if you need one to stabilise your camera when taking photos.

Toyota Land Cruiser (4 wheel drive) – 8 or 7 seat safari customised 4×4 Land Cruisers and Jeeps

–  Safari vehicle hire rate per day is US$ 150 without fuel and park entry fees for the vehicle and driver-guide – Vehicle seats either eight or seven passengers comfortably. Each person has a window seat in the seven-seat vehicle. One person in the eight-seat vehicle occupies the middle seat at the back – The vehicle is customized for safari. It has a pop-up roof and has  special shock absorbers  for game viewing and photography – Vehicles are driven by a professional safari guide with between 10 – 35 years of experience guiding wildlife safaris – We provide a free airport pick up and drop off if the airport pick up and drop off is on the same days as your safari – The price given does not include fuel and does not include park entry fees for the vehicle and driver-guide.
