Margaritaville at Sea Unveils Stateroom Options on Islander

Margaritaville at Sea unveiled a variety of stateroom and suite options onboard its newest ship, Islander, set to embark on its maiden voyage in June from Port Tampa Bay.

Each of the ship’s 1,105 staterooms will be updated with new furnishings, fixtures and Margaritaville signature bedding, pillows and linens. Additionally, each room will feature custom stylings, including Signature Suites inspired by Jimmy Buffett’s popular songs. 

“We are excited to welcome guests onboard our newest ship, debuting a variety of staterooms designed to elevate and refine the Margaritaville experience at sea,” said Brad Schwaeble, COO of Margaritaville. “As we expand, we want to ensure that travelers are immediately transported to the Margaritaville state of mind by featuring some of our more popular venues throughout our hotels, resorts, and restaurants – while most importantly, creating new ones unique to our cruise line.” 

The vessel will feature six Signature Grand Suites themed and influenced by songs such as “Come Monday” and “Everlasting Moon.”These suites will also feature an extra spacious balcony with private loungers; large walk-in showers; a separate seating area; exclusive concierge services; complimentary nightly dining in the Islander Dining Room and more.  

The 700 balcony staterooms include Grand Terrace Corner Suites; Serene Junior Suites; Wake View Balcony staterooms; and Premium Extended Balcony and Breezy Balcony staterooms.  

Additional options include the Picturesque Ocean View and Cozy Interior staterooms. Basic stateroom amenities include TVs, bathroom with shower, in-room safe, hair dryers, 110v and 220v outlets and USB outlets, vanity areas and storage space.

Among the stateroom options, Margaritaville at Sea Islander will offer six exclusive Signature Grand Suites inspired by popular songs like “Come Monday” and “Everlasting Moon.” These suites feature Margaritaville-themed decor and amenities, including a spacious balcony, walk-in shower, premium furnishings, and additional perks like priority boarding and concierge services. The ship has twelve stateroom types to cater to couples, families, solo travelers, and larger groups. The 700 balcony staterooms include Grand Terrace Corner Suites, Serene Junior Suites with expansive balcony views, Wake View Balcony staterooms at the back of the ship, as well as Premium Extended Balcony and Breezy Balcony options.

Other stateroom choices consist of Picturesque ocean-view rooms with scenic sea views and Cozy Interior rooms, offering great value and a comfortable base for a cruise. Basic amenities in all staterooms include TVs, bathrooms with showers, in-room safes, hair dryers, USB outlets, vanity areas, and storage space.

The first sailing of Margaritaville at Sea Islander will depart on June 14 from Port Tampa Bay for a 4-night cruise with a visit to Cozumel, Mexico, and two days of activities at Sea.

Margaritaville at Sea Islander announces expanded offerings

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Tampa’s newest cruise ship is expanding its options in 2025.

The Margaritaville at Sea Islander, set for its first voyage on June 14, 2024, will offer new six and seven-night cruises in 2025, with stops in Belize, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Key West, Cozumel and Costa Maya, and Mexico.

Currently, the cruise only offers four-day trips, with a five-day cruise option coming later this year.

“These longer sails and captivating new ports of call will deliver entirely new experiences for our guests seeking the ultimate in adventure and relaxation,” said Chris Ivy, CEO of Margaritaville at Sea. “More days at sea also means plenty of time to explore all the Islander has to offer, from brand new entertainment and food and beverage options to exciting amenities and venues.”

Margaritaville at Sea said dining offerings on the ship will include sushi, tacos, steaks, and cocktails, with six new dining experiences and 11 new bars and lounges coming exclusively to the Islander.

The Islander, currently stationed in Northern Ireland, was built in 1999 under Costa Cruises and is being refurbished before its maiden voyage, the Business Journal said.

Margaritaville's cruise company just unveiled a $900 pass for nearly unlimited cruises through the end of the year

• Margaritaville at Sea announced a $900 cruise pass that allows travelers to sail on the majority of its 2023 cruises.
• Margaritaville launched its cruise brand in 2022 with its Margaritaville at Sea Paradise vessel.
• The 30-year-old ship is now operating nonstop two-night itineraries from Florida.

For $900, you could spend most of 2023 nibbling on sponge cake and watching the sun bake aboard a floating Margaritaville resort .

The cruise line is currently operating nonstop two-night sailings from Florida's Port of Palm Beach to the Bahama's Freeport, Grand Bahama island. These set itineraries range from about $170 to over $500 (not including current deals). But if there's nowhere you'd rather be than on a Margaritaville cruise ship, you could potentially save hundreds of dollars with its newly announced cruise pass.

Margaritaville at Sea has taken a page out of Disneyland's playbook with what it says is the industry's "first season pass," the Ultimate Paradise Pass . For $899, travelers with this pass can go on an unlimited number of non-consecutive Margaritaville cruises from April through the end of 2023. A second traveler can then stay in the same stateroom — limited to ocean view or interiors — for free. If you want to travel alone, you'll have to pay an additional $160.

But like Disneyland's annual passes, there are some limitations. There are five blackout dates in July, September, November, and December. Cruises must also be booked 24 to 72 hours in advance. And the pass doesn't cover additional payments like the $94 in taxes, fees, and expenses, the $20 booking fee, or gratuities. 

So far, 2023 is shaping up to be a successful year for the cruise line. Bookings are "off to a record start ... with the company's best wave season on record," Kevin Sheehan, Jr., Margaritaville at Sea's president and CEO, told Insider in an email. He says the cruise line is also seeing "strong trends" for pre-bookings through this year.

The 658-cabin vessel is a big draw for fans of the brand and Jimmy Buffett. The floating Margaritaville resort is filled with typical cruise amenities — like a pool deck, casino, and nighttime entertainment — all named after Jimmy Buffett's discography. From the Port of Indecision buffet to the al fresco 5 o'Clock Somewhere Bar and Grill, it's hard to escape the Margaritaville brand aboard the Paradise.

The nascent cruise line — one of Margaritaville Holdings' latest ventures — was launched in 2022. But don't expect a vessel as new as the brand. Before its refresh, the ship was known as the Grand Classica, a 30-year-old flagship vessel owned by budget cruise company Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line. The company has since rebranded to Margaritaville at Sea while the ship has undergone what Margaritaville has called a "multi-million investment and refurbishment."

Besides this cruise venture, the Jimmy Buffett-branded company's diverse hospitality portfolio also includes restaurants, resorts, senior living communities, and RV parks . In 2021, John Cohlan, the company's CEO, called Margaritaville the " fastest-growing hotel brand in the country ."
