Overall, we were very pleased with this tour. It provided a fine introduction to south India , showing us a wide vareity of landscapes and historical sites. The driver, Loukesh, was excellent. Throughout there was a problem with the poor quality of spoken English, in particular on the part of the local tourist guides. Most of the hotels were adequate but in two cases we found them uinsatisfactory. (Details can be provided.)

I recently did a South India tour with Goa and Periyar WildLife Sanctuaries as an all-inclusive package. I must say, it was one of the best travel decisions I've ever made. The tour was well planned and executed, and the drivers were very professional and friendly. The hotels we stayed at were all excellent, and the food was superb. I especially loved the variety and quality of the Indian cuisine. The wildlife sanctuaries we visited were simply stunning. I was blown away by the beauty of both Goa and Periyar WildLife Sanctuaries. The views were simply breathtaking, and the animals were so friendly and well-behaved. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I'll never forget.

Chennai to Kochi - 9 days

Our guide made the tour special by stopping to show us interesting things along the way as we were a very small group. If we had been a bigger group this flexibility would not have been possible and I think then the tour would have been too many temples. However, the tour as we had it was excellent as we saw a lot of the rural areas and small villages. Note that this tour does not include a tour of Chennai or Kochi so try to stay an extra day before and after the tour to visit these places by yourself. Train ride was great, nothing to fear; hotels all comfortable but out of the city center; guide and driver excellent and the people of India are the friendliest in the world.

We enjoyed our guide, Mannish and driver, Venkey. Mannish spoke English well and is knowledgeable about Hinduism and the sites we visited. He was very attentive to our needs. Venkey negotiated the travel with exceptional skill. All local guides were very interesting. We were fascinated with the Hindu temples and enjoyed the lush scenery. We felt the drive to Kumarakom was long for the short stay and would only do it again if staying 2 nights. We loved learning about spices, tea growing and harvesting and rubber harvesting. It's very different from Northern India, much slower paced and less crowed.

Lediglich die Lage, oft außerhalb der Stadt oder an Hauptverkehrsstraßen gefiel uns nicht immer.
