Pearl Jam Announce ‘Dark Matter’ World Tour

By Andy Greene

Andy Greene

Hours after dropping their new single “Dark Matter,” Pearl Jam have rolled out details of their new LP along with dates for a 35-date world tour, which kicks off May 4 in Vancouver, British Columbia, and wraps November 21 in Sydney, Australia.

Dark Matter will hit shelves on April 19. It was produced by Andrew Watt and recorded over just three weeks at Shangri-La Studios in Malibu, California. The album was unveiled to the public on January 31 during a listening event at the Troubadour in Los Angeles that the band attended.

“I’m getting chills,” Vedder told the crowd, “because I have good memories. We’re still looking for ways to communicate. We’re at this time in our lives when you could do it or you could not do it, but we still care about putting something out there that is meaningful, and we hopefully think is our best work. No hyperbole, I think this is our best work.”

The tour will hit nine countries all across the globe and will ultimately be their longest run of shows in a calendar year since 2009. They’ll be joined by Deep Sea Diver on the first North American leg, Glen Hansard on the second North American leg, the Murder Capitol in Europe and parts of England, Richard Ashcroft in Dublin and London, and Pixies in Australia and New Zealand.

Pearl Jam sets 2023 U.S. tour, touts ‘fairly priced tickets’ amid Ticketmaster drama

Pearl Jam is hitting the road this year, and the band hopes fans can come along without breaking the bank.

On Thursday, the rock group announced its 2023 U.S. tour, commencing at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn., on Aug. 31. Pearl Jam said it is taking action to “continue to protect fans’ access to fairly priced tickets.”

The Grammy-winning group — comprised of Jeff Ament, Matt Cameron, Stone Gossard, Mike McCready and Eddie Vedder — opted to “make tickets non-transferable where permitted” and will sell “approximately 10% of tickets through PJ Premium at the market rate to offset increased costs.”

How Ticketmaster became the most hated name in music

Fans, politicians and even artists were complaining about Ticketmaster long before Taylor Swift filled stadiums. But experts say the anger may be misplaced.

Jan. 23, 2023

The announcement continued: “Tickets on this tour will continue to be non-transferable in all states except Illinois where it is prohibited by law. We apologize in advance to Illinois fans who may be subject to increased ticket prices on the secondary market.”

Nontransferable tickets make it less likely that buyers can flip their tickets for a profit by selling to third-party sites and scalpers.

Fans can register for Ticketmaster ‘s Verified Fan program before tickets go on sale on April 28 at 10 a.m. local time. Current Pearl Jam Ten Club members have access to the ticket presale.

Additionally, the band said it will implement “all-in pricing across this tour” in its ticket sales. This means that prices listed on Ticketmaster will include all processing fees “so there are no surprises at check out.”

In a statement shared with The Times Friday, Ticketmaster said it supports Pearl Jam’s efforts to be more transparent about ticket prices.

“Pearl Jam has always advocated on behalf of their fans and we hope more artists, teams and venues follow their lead and start using the all-in pricing display available on Ticketmaster,” Ticketmaster said. “It would be better for fans if all-in pricing was mandated nationally, but in the meantime we created the all-in display option to help fans see the full costs upfront.”

A ticketing practice known as ‘dynamic pricing’ caused some serious sticker shock for fans hoping to see the Boss on his 2023 tour.

Pearl Jam’s latest efforts to be transparent with its ticket sales and limit reselling come months after music fans took Ticketmaster to court.

In December 2022, Taylor Swift fans filed a lawsuit against Ticketmaster’s parent company, Live Nation Entertainment Inc., for alleged fraud, price-fixing and antitrust law violations while selling advance tickets to Swift’s Eras Tour.

An investigation by the Department of Justice and a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing rife with Swift lyrics followed a month later.

In March, fans of rapper Drake reportedly filed a lawsuit against Ticketmaster, accusing the platform of inflating ticket prices.

Pearl Jam has had its own issues with Ticketmaster. The quintet clashed with the platform several times over ticket fees in the 1990s.

As part of its U.S. tour, Pearl Jam will make stops in Chicago, Indianapolis and Fort Worth and Austin, Texas. Rock band Inhaler will join Pearl Jam for its shows in Chicago, Indianapolis and Austin.

“We can’t wait to see you out there,” the band wrote.

How to Get Tickets

Pearl jam ten club members-only presale powered by ticketmaster request, what is ticketmaster request, anything new to know about this process.

For newly added show dates, Ten Club has secured more tickets for these shows than ever before. The majority of members who submit a Ten Club ticket request will get tickets. This also means that Ten Club seating includes seats farther back in the venue than in the past.

How does the Ten Club ticket request work?

How do i unlock access to the ten club ticket request, is there a cutoff date to become a ten club member for the ticket request, can i request tickets for more than one city, can i get tickets to both shows in a city that has multiple performance dates, if i submit requests on both u.s. and canada sites, which becomes my #1 preference.

Ticket requests for U.S. and Canada dates will be processed independently of each other. This means that you would have a #1 preference for U.S. shows, and a #1 preference for Canada shows.

What if I submit requests for Canada shows in both English and French?

These are the same shows. Only your most recent Canada ticket request will be considered, regardless of the language selected.

How will tickets be determined for Ten Club members?

To level the playing field, ticket requests are confirmed in a randomized selection process while still considering show priority .

What types of ADA Seating are available?

ADA seating locations will vary by venue.  There is no ADA seating in the GA PIT at any of the shows.

Can I transfer or sell tickets I can’t use?

Who do i contact if i have questions about my ticket request, i need to adjust my ten club ticket request, what should i do, can i cancel my ticket request, what is the maximum number of tickets i can request per show, when will you charge my card.

Charges will begin on Monday, March 21 and end on Friday, March 25 — you will only be charged if your request is confirmed. To avoid declined transactions, please make sure your card has available funds to cover your maximum total.

I submitted duplicate requests by accident. What should I do?

Can i confirm my seats before my credit card is charged what if i don’t like the tickets i get, i’m having trouble getting past the ticketmaster sign in on the ten club ticket request site..

If you are successfully entering your email address and password but not allowed to continue, please make sure that your browser settings allow 3rd party cookies.

If my request is confirmed, how will I get my tickets?

My credit card got charged but i haven’t received an email confirming my order yet, what should i do, is ticketmaster request for ten club members only, what is the verified fan onsale, can i request additional tickets through the verified fan onsale, what happens if my ticket request is not confirmed, are international fans able to request tickets.

Yes, international fans that create a Ticketmaster.com account can submit a Ten Club ticket request. However, we may limit the availability of the Site or any service or product described on the Site to any person or geographic area at any time. Please visit our Terms and Conditions for more information about access outside of the U.S.

Pearl Jam Onsale powered by Ticketmaster Verified Fan ®

Ticketmaster Verified Fan is committed to getting more tickets into the hands of fans fairly, and at the prices set by the artist. While it doesn’t guarantee that everyone who is verified will get a ticket, it does level the playing field so more tickets go to fans who want to go to the show — not ticket bots. A simple registration is all it takes and this quick guide will walk you through all the details.

Registration

Registration is easy and only takes a few minutes. Follow these steps to get started:

1. Click here to go to the Ticketmaster Verified Fan custom registration page.

2. Sign in using your Ticketmaster account, or if you don’t have one, you can create one when you register.

3. Tell us what show(s) you’re interested in and submit your registration.

From there, we’ll send you a confirmation email to confirm your registration was successful and what to expect next.

This is where Verified Fan really flexes its muscle to ensure that more tickets go to the fans who want to attend the show. Only those who are invited to the sale may shop using a unique access code. Here’s how it works:

1. The night before the sale  — we’ll let you know if you’ve been invited to shop. The invitation process may vary from event to event, and invitations are based on demand and ticket availability.

If you were invited, you’ll receive a text message to the number you provided during registration. Your text will include your unique access code and a link to shop. Keep an eye out for this text and be careful that you don’t accidentally delete it.

Commonly Asked Questions

We receive a lot of questions about Verified Fan, so we thought it would be helpful to take the ones we get most and provide the answers all in one place.

Can I register more than once to increase my invitation status?

Only one registration is required, and registering more than once won’t increase your opportunity to receive an invitation. If after you’ve registered, you want to change the dates you selected, just come back and register with your new picks. We only keep the last registration you submitted.

I received a confirmation email, what does that mean?

This email is simply to confirm your details and that we successfully received your registration. It doesn’t, however, guarantee you’ll receive an invitation to shop. Once we get closer to the Verified Fan Onsale, you’ll receive an email with additional information about your invitation status.

Does registering mean I get a Verified Fan access code?

Access codes are never guaranteed, and due to anticipated demand and limited supply, fans are selected at random to receive an invitation to shop.

Does getting an access code mean I will get tickets?

Receiving an access code means that you’ll have the opportunity to shop for tickets. However, the ability to purchase tickets is determined by supply and demand, and is not guaranteed. Tickets are available on a first come, first served basis.

When is the Verified Fan Onsale?

The Verified Fan Onsale will begin on Tuesday, March 29 at 10 AM venue local time.

If I am selected, how long do I have to shop for tickets?

While we suggest you purchase as soon as you are able, we understand there may be some planning involved.

What is the ticket limit?

The ticket limit for the Verified Fan Onsale  is four (4) tickets per show.

What is PJ Premium?

How can i get the seating map in advance.

Seating options vary depending on the event or venue and in some cases may not be available until tickets go on sale. Visit the event page on Ticketmaster to learn more about seating options and maps.

I got an email telling me that I’m on the Waitlist, what does that mean?

Due to extremely high demand and limited invitations, we are sometimes unable to confirm your access for the Verified Fan Presale. Should additional invitations become available, we will notify you by text message. Please keep in mind any additional ticket inventory will be extremely limited and tickets are available on a first come, first served basis.

How will I know if I move off the Waitlist?

Keep your phone close by as your text notification can come at any time after the sale begins. When notified, you’ll receive two text messages: The first one has the link to the sale, and the second contains your unique access code. You’ll also want to closely watch your email just in case there are text delivery issues such as an incorrectly entered number or blocked carriers. In that case we’ll email your access code details to the address you use for your Ticketmaster account .

Recent tour reviews

Tuesday 17th July. The O2, London. Pearl Jam. So here we are at the rescheduled date after the recent cancelled gig in June. I probably said most of what I wanted to say in my review from last month https://garyw66.weebly.com/blog/rockin-in-the-free-world-with-pearl-jam

All that said this time I was down on the floor this time and it certainly added to the atmosphere and you could appreciate the light show too. Making up for the cancelled gig tonight we are treated to a 33 song near three hour set, encore upon encore including some great covers from the likes of Petty, The Who and Dylan.

It’s a breathless night and tonight Pearl Jam only go to confirm that they are one of the great live rock acts around. I don’t need to say anymore. Another great night.

Great setlist, perfect weather, fitting venue and they guys from Pearl Jam so great, energetic and charismatic as always. They seem to really love to play live for their crowd. Only negative thing was due to se fanatic Ten-Club member group (aparently US-americans, aprox. 20-25 persons) who were very hostile towarda people who approched the front rows, threatening people in group and being very disgusting while appearing to be very "devote" fans. Sasly security didn’t seem to notice or, if they did, didn’t care. That just left a bit of bitterness since it was infuriating to see how they were behaving and being aggresive and trying to intimidate people in a band‘s concert who otherwise represent the whole opposite of that group‘s behavior.

Other than that, it was an awesome, long and unforgettable show.

WHAT.A.SHOW.I had high expectations for this show and they delivered at such a level that I couldn't explain. The crowd sang every song lyric, everyone was on their feet during the entire show, people were dancing, bouncing, and having a wonderful time. It had such an old school vibe because there were handful of people using their phones. Young and older audience were all into the show and Pearl Jam's performance. It was beautiful. Their solos were solid. Plus, the show was in Miami and Chris Bosh, Pat Riley, and D-Wade were all in attendance. People who had listened to a few songs by Pearl Jam instantly fell in love. They played a tribute to veterans and a Pink Floyd cover, which I thought was amazing. This will live with me forever.

Ace Frehley in Carteret

What's the connection between Kiss and the New York Dolls?

More than you might expect.

Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley, who plays the Carteret Performing Arts and Event Center Saturday, April 13, emerged from the glam-rock dipped New York City music scene of the early '70s that included the Dolls.

“When we came out, the Dolls were bigger than us,” said Frehley previously to the Asbury Park Press. “The Dolls had already made their name, then we came along at some point, and we surpassed their popularity and we know what happened in history. They were definitely a very original, very innovative band, and I respected those guys.”

Frehley shared stylistic elements with the Dolls' Johnny Thunders. They both used Gibson Les Pauls, and both had a crunchy, sparse style of playing that allowed their personalities to shine through.

“There's lots of overdubbing, you just don't hear it,” said Frehley of the Space Ace guitar sound. “I'll double stuff with [acoustic guitars] but I'll tuck it under the electric guitar so it's just low enough so you really don't distinguish it, but it adds something. It adds sparkle. I learned that from Pete Townshend, listening to early Who records. He used to double a lot of things with electric guitar and acoustic guitar.”

Frehley answered an ad in the Village Voice and joined with bassist Gene Simmons, singer Paul Stanley and drummer Peter Criss, who now lives in Wall, to change musical history as a member of Kiss. Frehley's original run with Kiss lasted until 1982. He re-upped in '96, and that lasted until 2002.

Kiss played its latest farewell show in December at Madison Square Garden, Frehley is touring in support of his new album,”10,000 Volts.” Angel and White Tiger are also on the bill in Carteret.

Go : Ace Frehley with Angel and White Tiger, 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 13, Carteret Performing Arts and Event Center, 46 Washington Ave., Carteret, $49 to $89; carteretpac.com.

Pearl Jam

Seattle rockers Pearl Jam are shedding some light on Dark Matter .

The '90s icons are releasing their 12th full-length next Friday, April 19, but Canadian fans can get an advance listen at four independent record stores around the country this Sunday. On April 14, the band is hosting listening parties in Vancouver, Toronto, Halifax and Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu. (Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu is about a half hour drive for Montreal fans).

Dark Matter is the band's first full-length since 2020's Gigaton , which hit No. 5 on the Billboard 200. The album, written and recorded in just three weeks, is a testament to the strength of the band members' lifelong personal and creative bonds. High energy lead single "Dark Matter" topped Billboard's Mainstream Rock Airplay chart last month, the first time the band has hit that height since 1998.

Maggie Rogers is heading back on the road, this time in arenas.

The star announced on Thursday (April 11) her first-ever arena tour, dubbed the Don’t Forget Me Tour Part II, to celebrate the release of her third studio album, Don’t Forget Me . The Live Nation-produced outing will kick off on Oct. 9 at Moody Center in Austin, Texas, before it hits cities like Philadelphia, Boston, New York City, Chicago, Seattle and more before wrapping up on November 2 in Los Angeles, Calif. Ryan Beatty will join Rogers as the opening act on her fall tour dates.

The previously announced first leg of the Don’t Forget Me Tour kicks off May 23 in San Diego, Calif., and wraps in Miami, Fla., on June 22. The Japanese House is slated as the supporting act.

In addition to the arena tour, Rogers also announced Box Office Week, which will include pop-up events and special shows taking place over the course of the week at intimate venues in four U.S. cities. Additionally, Rogers will continue her commitment of in-person ticketing from April 13 to 20, where fans can go to the box office of any arena she’s playing at and buy tickets for $25 with no added fees. At her pop-up events, she’ll be selling the tickets herself.

“On the last album, Surrender , I decided to go old school and sell tickets in-person in an effort to reduce fees, combat bots and get tickets directly into the hands of fans,” the singer explained in a press statement. “That process was so fun, this year I’m hosting ‘Box Office Week,’ where I’ve set some special prices for fans who want to come purchase tickets in person.”

Top 10 Moscow Attractions – Things To Do In Moscow

1. all around the kremlin.

St. Basil’s Cathedral

Start from the Alexandrovsky Sad (Alexander Garden), a highlight of Moscow center. The garden is famous for its architectural monuments, incredibly beautiful flowerbeds and history. The Eternal Flame in the memory of the fallen heroes in the World War II glows in front of the Kremlin Kutafya Tower. Alexandrovsky Sad is a place that is impossible to miss, if you are going to the Kremlin , a symbol of the Russian State, one of the greatest architectural ensembles in the world, a treasury of amazing relics and monuments of art. The famous  Armory Chamber and the Diamond Fund are real treasure houses. The Kremlin is the official President’s residence and remains a gorgeous political landmark. On the way from the Kremlin to the Red Square , you will find the State History Muzeum , with a wonderful collection of artworks, depicting Russian history. Red Square remains, as it has been for centuries, the heart and soul of Russia. Few places in the world bear the weight of history to the extent that Moscow’s central square does. From the 16th Century St. Basil’s Cathedral – one of the most famous pieces of architecture in the world – to the constructivist pyramid of  Lenin’s Mausoleum , Red Square is rich in symbols of Russia’s turbulent and intriguing past. Right at the Square there is one of the oldest and most remarkable shopping centers in Moscow – the GUM . Just several trading passages in Russia were created over a century ago and successfully operate until nowadays. GUM always was, and remains the greatest country’s store. To have some rest you can go to recently opened Zaryadye Park and enjoy breathtaking views of The Moscow Kremlin from the floating bridge, listen to some classic concerts or try local food from different regions of Russia.

2. NEAR THE BOLSHOI THEATRE

Not far from the Kremlin and the main street of Moscow – Tverskaya street you will find the Theater Square. The square is situated over the river Neglinka that was enclosed in an underground pipe in 1819. Now it is a green square with two beautiful fountains. The area owes its name because of t three theaters located there: a world-famous Bolshoi Theatre , Maly Theatre and Russian Academic Youth Theatre (RAMT). The Bolshoi Theatre is a symbol of Russia for all time. It was awarded this honor due to the major contribution to the history of the Russian performing arts. This history is on-going and today Bolshoi Theatre artists continue to contribute to it many bright pages. Visit the theatre to watch the magnificent Russian operas and ballets. Despite high ticket’s price, you will never be disappointed; it is a real pearl of the world’s theatrical life. The TsUM is a luxurious shopping mall with recognizable designer labels and expensive goods is also located at the Theatre Square. A good place to visit in this area is a place called «Denis Simachev Bar», a two-story house in Stoleshnikov Lane. The music and menu are diverse, as well as the audience. A special drink of the bar is cider «Sidor Simachev».

3. AROUND CATHEDRAL OF CHRIST THE SAVIOUR

Cathedral of Christ the Saviour

Start from Ostozhenka St. , and lanes around it, to see the charming old Moscow. Despite that Ostozhenka became one of the most expensive streets in the world, with lots of new houses, it preserved unique examples of the 18 and 19 centuries architecture, which you may find in the numerous bystreets. Moreover, Multimedia Art Museum , one of the most interesting art spots in Moscow is located at Ostozhenka, 16. Follow the street to the city center and you will see the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour . It is one of the largest Orthodox church in the world. The building is magnificent, but not as old as it looks, it was rebuilt in 2000 (the original was demolished by the order of Stalin). One of the highlights of the Cathedral is the panoramic view from the 40-meter-high observation platform. Use the footbridge from Christ the Savior Cathedral to get to the former area of confectionary factory Krasniy Octyabr (the Red October) with lots of stores, bars and cultural spots. The Strelka Bar is a good place to have some rest. It is a comfortable urban space for informal and having a cocktail. In summertime, the bar opens a terrace overlooking the Moscow River.

4. THE GORKY PARK

Gorky Park

-> Read our main article about Moscow Parks

After visiting the previous attraction, you can follow the footbridge and enter the long pedestrian zone at the borders of the Moskva River. Nowadays Museon, together with the Gorky Park and Neskuchniy Sad are much reconstructed. The space of the Museon Park of Arts is perfectly landscaped for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Follow the River Bank and you will come to the main leisure and cultural spot of nowadays Moscow – the  Gorky Park . It opened in 1928. In 2011, Gorky Park underwent a major restructuring and now has a fresh, vibrant appearance. The park’s recently upgraded design makes it one of the most interesting places to spend your leisure time. About 20,000 visitors visit the 109-hectare park each day. The park features bike rental stations, a comfortable business area with Wi-Fi, an outdoor movie theatre and a greenhouse where you can buy fresh greens such as basil and lettuce, numerous open-air cafes, yoga classes, film festivals in the summer cinema and classical music concerts. You can enjoy many sports in the park such as volleyball, handball, football or a peaceful jog around the beautiful surroundings If you go further by the riverbank you will reach Neskuchniy Sad , a wonderful place in the Moscow center, one of Moscow’s oldest parks, highly renovated for the past few years. Once an area filled with the summer palaces of Moscow’s wealthiest nobles, it is now a charming slice of wildlife with many activities and places of rest.

The additional optional tours were also good, we did the Metro tour which I highly recommend, we also paid for the Kremlin tour. The hop on hop off has three different lines all included. Only fault was the bus was sometimes full and you had to wait for the next one which was about 15 minutes (in the cold). Read more Written January 6, 2020

They suggested we do the 1 hour boat trip and said they would drop us to the dock. 1) they dropped us in the wrong place 2) they were lost because of the marathon Then the boat, after we finally found it: 1) stinking fumes, actually gagging 2) no commentary, in fact, no interaction unless you begged 3) offered us 2 for 1 icecreams as they had melted and refrozen as the fridge gets turned off at night Honestly, we enjoyed the afternoon in the boat but spent all of it laughing at just how awful it was!!! The red route is quite exciting and takes about an hour. The bus comes every 10 to 15 minutes. However the other two routes take about two hours each and buses come every 30 to 40 minute period. If the bus is full then you have to wait at the stop for the next bus. So personally I feel that not much can be seen this way. I definitely was not impressed. The boat element was wonderful, we saw some amazing parts of Moscow along the river side. The bus element was very disappointing as it only started at 10am and was finished by 6:30pm. It was extremely warm when we were there and it would have been great to do the tour in the cool of the day. There was also no air conditioning in the down stairs part of the bus. The green bus takes you on a longer route and ours took two and a half hours due to the heavy traffic. I would not recommend this trip unless it is raining or you want to fill in time. The boat ride was Ok, a little crowded. No guide provided, just a boat ride with restaurant service Read more Written July 12, 2018
  • WilliamDyer 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Poor service on boat and too many waiting times on buses For the price, you should expect at minimum English speaking tour guides with decent experience, but at least in my case that did not happen both in buses and boats. And in the boat even tough we were 90% English speaking tourist at least, the tour guide spoke 95% of the time in Russia, and only 3 sentences in English, I really counted how many times she spoke in English. And at the end she asks us if we have any questions? Of course I told her I couldn’t ask her anything since I didn’t understand 95% of what she was saying. The boat tour is not worth it, just take the bus that would be my advice. Second minus is the waiting times, in the boat they made us wait an hour before it departed, and in many stops with the buses waiting times of 20-30 minutes. I actually think I lost that day around 2 hours doing nothing. Be careful. Read more Written July 10, 2018
