Hunting safaris

Magersfontein Safaris offer discerning hunters the choice of tailored bow or rifle hunting safaris. We offer various game hunting packages and can customise a hunting safari to meet your needs, no hunt is ever to big or small for us. We also pride ourselves in that we can assist handicapped hunters in their sporting adventures.

Bow hunting

A 10 000 acre bow hunting only concession with blinds at strategic points ensure many opportunities at trophy animals. Salt and mineral blocks are used in combination with water to entice the animals and increase your chances. The average shooting distance is 20 yards. An archery range with shooting block is available to check your bow.

Rifle hunting

Magersfontein Safaris has access to several concessions totalling in excess of 50 000 acres, all within a 50 mile radius of camp.

All plains game, including Eland, can be taken with 30.06, 300 or 7mm magnum calibres. Average shooting distances are 150 – 200 yards and shots are taken from shooting sticks, trees, rock or termite mounds. 60 rounds of ammunition should be sufficient and must be transported separately from your rifle.

Rifles, with the bolt removed, should be transported in shock proof rifle cases. The necessary documentation for importing your rifle will be forwarded to you on receipt of confirmed booking of your hunt. We have an equipped range to check rifles on arrival.

Magersfontein Safaris can also offer Big 5/Dangerous game hunts including Bowhunting of Buffalo, Lion and Leopard.

Safaris are confirmed once a deposit of 50% of the daily rate has been received. There will be no binding contract until the deposit has been received.

CANCELLATION
 No deposit will be refunded if the safari is cancelled less than 6 months prior to the commencement date. If safari is cancelled 6 months prior to commencement the deposit will be refunded less the bank costs incurred.

FINAL PAYMENTS Payment for the balance of the daily rates as well as trophy fees are payable before departure by credit card (a 3% service charge will be levied) or cash (US$).

Our hunting farm, in the area of Kimberley, South Africa was established in 1963. Our farm has 7000 hectares available to hunt on and additional hunting concessions in the surrounding area. It is unique in that it not only does it offer the hunter a thrilling hunting experience, it has the tranquil surrounding of bushveld and is also steeped in history with no less than three memorials and a museum, all dedicated to the epic Battle of Magersfontein.

Cuisine and Catering:

The cuisine has a traditional South African flair and is served in a spacious dining area or under an African starlit sky. Personal requests and intimate private functions can be catered for.

Small conference facilities are also available.

Tucked away in the heart of the hills of the historic Anglo-Boer War battlefield, on a private family game farm, lies the Magersfontein Lodge. While on your South African Hunting Safari you will enjoy our breathtaking accommodations surrounded by over 20 species of wild game, including Buffalo, Giraffe, Wildebeest and Roan antelope. 

The lodge is reminiscent of the original architecture of the region during the early 1900s. It caters for those who wish to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday city life.

I guess that for prices and packages we will need for them to become sponsors here first, but photos would be nice for start...

Linksfontein is the destination where people arrive as clients and leave as friends who have left their footprint in our souls.

Linksfontein is fenced on the outer bounds as prohibited by South African Law and stretches an impressive 22 000 acres, offering 38 different animal species, from the majestic and elusive Kudu to the graceful Giraffe and the silent Steenbuck.

Our Lodge is situated on the Ghaap Plateu near the historical little town of Campbell in the Northern Cape of South Africa, 115 km kilometres from Kimberley on route to Griekwastad, a little town rich in history in its own right. With big historical crevices dating back thousands of years and a view from the top of the Ghaap Plateu, making us a part of history captured in modern day luxury.
