ncl excursions st john's

Sail across Pillsbury Sound to the enchanting island of St. John on a catamaran and then snorkel in the turquoise waters just offshore. All that is required of you is to sit back and relax as the catamaran glides along the eastern end of St. Thomas and continues to St. John, the most pristine of the U.S. Virgin Islands. In time, you will arrive at Honeymoon Beach within the Virgin Islands National Park. You will be free to snorkel, stroll along the sugar-white beach and relax as you see fit. You might stretch out on a beach towel, linger in the shade of a coconut palm and swim in the sea with nothing on your mind other than enjoying yourself. On the return cruise to St. Thomas, the champagne will be flowing and an array of cheeses, freshly baked breads and fresh tropical fruits will be served.

  • Sail on a sleek catamaran to neighboring St. John, half of which is a national park.
  • Snorkel the crystal-clear waters off Honeymoon Beach on the island’s western edge.
  • Bask in the sun, relax on the beach and delight in the natural beauty.
  • Celebrate the adventure with a tropical beverage from the open bar on the return cruise.

St. John's (Newfoundland) Canada

The Port of St. John’s is located on the Atlantic coast in southeastern Newfoundland. St. John’s is the most populous city and capital of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is the easternmost city in Canada.

For a long time, European fishermen had been in the St. John’s area and drying their catches. It was here, on Signal Hill, that Marconi received the first telegraph transmission across the Atlantic in 1901.

Homes in central St. John’s are traditionally painted with bright colors, making it a popular photo stop.

St. Thomas: which NCL sail/snorkel excursion is best?

My big sis and I will be on the Norwegian Gem in a couple of weeks, and the one port where we're going to book an official excursion is St. Thomas.

Three main goals:

Due to our fear of missing the boat (literally), we've decided to stick to the official NCL excursions. We're not into shopping or hiking, and we definitely want to spend as much time as possible in or near the water.

Our NCL short excursion candidates so far:

  • St. John Champagne Catamaran Sail & Snorkel
  • Turtle Cove Catamaran Sail & Snorkel
  • Captain Nautica Snorkel
  • St. John Beach Escape & Snorkel
  • Legendary Kon Tiki Beach & Sightseeing

The Castaway Girl Barefoot Sail & Snorkel looks fun but also looks like there's no shade whatsoever on the boat.

Would any of you who have done the excursions in the list above have time to offer some advice? Thank you so much.

We've been to St. Thomas a couple of times. Both times we went to Coki Beach. I went diving on a boat, with the Coki Beach Dive Club. Others did beach Discovery diving, or just snorkeled or enjoyed at the beach. It was very easy and relaxing.

After lunch we had the taxi/bus to pick us up and did an island tour, ending up at Paradise Point. Stayed there for an hour, before being picked up to get down to the port. No problem getting back to ship on time.

St Thomas is not very big. Lots of open air taxi/buses.
