Taking a Grand Canyon helicopter tour from Las Vegas was an unforgettable experience! We had already visited this natural wonder a couple of years ago but since we had a day left during our last trip to Las Vegas, we decided to visit the Grand Canyon again.

I can promise you that getting an aerial perspective of this immense region was much better than scrambling to get a good view at ground-level.

You’ll enjoy about 70 minutes of airtime, during which you’ll see the magnitude of the West Rim, as well as famous lookouts like Eagle and Guano Points. It’s one of the cheapest Grand Canyon helicopter tours from Las Vegas , but, unlike the other tours in this guide, you won’t have time to explore the canyon on foot.

Golden Eagle, grand canyon helicopter tours from las vegas

Still, if you’re short on time and all you’re looking for is a helicopter ride, this is the best option for you. In fact, the Golden Eagle is considered one of the best Grand Canyon helicopter tours.

  • Highlights : Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, West Rim
  • Duration : 3-4.5 hours
  • Price : $299
  • Description : Enjoy a quick flight to the Grand Canyon West Rim, soaring over iconic sights like the Hoover Dam and Colorado River .

2. Grand Celebration, Grand Canyon helicopter landing tour from Las Vegas

A  Grand Canyon tour from Las Vegas by helicopter  is a great thing to do as a couple.  This flight  goes over the Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, the West Rim, and the Colorado River before making a below-the-rim landing. You’ll descend 3,200 feet to a private plateau, where you’ll enjoy champagne and light refreshments.

We did the  upgraded tour  for a  Grand Canyon helicopter tour over the Las Vegas Strip at sunset and I would recommend it for anyone looking for things to do in Las Vegas as a couple.

Grand Celebration, grand canyon helicopter tours in las vegas

  • Highlights : West Rim, below-the-rim landing, champagne picnic, sunset Strip flight (if you upgrade)
  • Duration : 4-4.5 hours
  • Price : $429 ($484 for upgrade)

This  Grand Canyon helicopter tour from Las Vegas  is a 3-in-1 deal.   The trip begins with an airplane ride to Grand Canyon West, with views of the Mojave Desert, Hoover Dam, and Lake Mead. At the West Rim, you’ll board a helicopter to the bottom, then take a pontoon boat ride on the Colorado River. 5. Deluxe Tour, Grand Canyon day trip from Las Vegas with helicopter ride

This  full-day tour  is one of the  best helicopter tours from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon  because it’s the only tour that flies over the national park area. The previous tours only visit the West Rim, which is not within the national park but is managed by the Hualapai tribe as a private tourist attraction.

The views are better from the South Rim but since the West Rim is only 130 miles far from the city, most Grand Canyon tours from Las Vegas visit that area. By air, the distance difference is not that much, and since the Deluxe Tour includes an airplane flight to the South Rim, it won’t take much to get to the National Park.

To make it easier for you,  Papillon  is our favorite company for  Grand Canyon helicopter tours from Vegas . As the largest Grand Canyon sightseeing company, they have a reputable fleet of airplanes and helicopters, as well as over 50 years of experience. Their rates are excellent, and they have a fantastic safety record. You can read our review of Papillon Helicopters here.

During our last visit to Sin City, we took the  Grand Canyon helicopter tour from Las Vegas  with Papillon (the Grand Celebration with Strip at Sunset ) and it wasn’t our first time flying with this company.

Grand canyon air tour from las vegas

helicopter ride from Grand Canyon to Las Vegas at sunset

A couple of years before, during our 10-day West Coast USA road trip , we also took with them an airplane flight from the South Rim (the Grand Discovery Tour ) and it that was so stunning that we knew we had to repeat it.

This last time, we opted for a Grand Canyon helicopter landing tour from Las Vegas, and it was all we had dreamed of. We enjoyed the Colorado River’s beautiful views at sunset and the Strip shining at night from the air.

I’m sure we will fly with Papillon again in the future and next time I would love to take the Grand Voyager so I can ride in a pontoon boat cruise along the Colorado River.

My husband and I are coming to Las Vegas from Germany and were looking for recommendations on the best price for value helicopter tours from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon. I found the Golden Eagle (tour 1 in this article) to be a pretty decent one, however, the starting price for the is actually $379, not $299. We clicked on your link and were surprised to find the price was $80 more. Even more surprising, when look for April dates, the price was even higher, at $429. Also, they charge $30 per person when you get to check-in “due to the increased price of aviation fuel”. So all in all, the price person person is $151 more than what it says in your article.

I clicked on a few other tours just to check, and it seems all prices are outdated. Just an FYI…

Hi, Yes, the tour prices are constantly changing, and we try to stay on top of it! We’ll work on updating our Grand Canyon helicopter tour guides. Thanks for the heads-up!

Hi there We are looking at visiting Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon. Since last there (late 90’s), the Skywalk has been constructed. Do any of the tours allow for a walk across the Skywalk? This info will help us to choose the best tour for us. My niece will be accompanying me and this will be her first trip to the USA so I want to choose a comprehensive tour.

Any assistance/advice would be very much appreciated.

Thank you Kind regards Irene Perth, Western Australia

' src=

The Skywalk belongs to the Hopi reservation and, therefore, you need to take a specific tour to visit it.

Most of the Grand Helicopter Tour from Las Vegas take an aerial ride above the Grand Canyon or include a landing in the Grand Canyon (different from the Skywalk). My recommendation is to do only one of them, and having done both I’d suggest taking the helicopter which is much more impressive!

Hope this helps and you have an amazing trip!

Hi there, found the perfect trip from Vegas to South Rim in another awesome post on your blog: https://capturetheatlas.com/visit-grand-canyon-tips/ It says „ If you want the authentic Grand Canyon National Park experience (which is the most beautiful area anyway), then I recommend taking this tour that include an airplane ride to Grand Canyon Village through the West Rim, a 25-minute helicopter ride over the South Rim, and a minibus ride to explore the main viewpoints of the canyon.“ and the link directs to https://www.civitatis.com/en/las-vegas/south-rim-excursion/?aid=2545 Which company operates this tour? Papillon or another? Thanks in advance

Yes, I would think so. You can also book it here: https://www.papillon.com/las-vegas-tours/national-park-air-and-ground-tours/grand-canyon-connoisseur

Grand Canyon Helicopter Tour, Above and Below the Rim Extended Air Tour

Choosing the Right Grand Canyon Helicopter Tour At nearly 2,000 square miles, the Grand Canyon is a behemoth. Full-day flights can showcase only a fraction of the natural wonder’s splendor. To get the most out of your experience, you’ll need to put some thought into selecting your helicopter Grand Canyon ride. Are you exploring the West Rim or the South Rim? Looking for a Las Vegas Grand Canyon helicopter tour combo? What time of the year are you visiting? What kind of helicopter are you flying? Let’s look at a few of the variables you should consider when booking your adventure.  What’s the Difference Between the West Rim and South Rim? Generally, there are two types of Grand Canyon helicopter flights: a tour of the West Rim featuring many iconic sites, or of the pristine wilderness of the South Rim. Since the rims are hundreds of miles apart, the tour you choose will largely depend on where you are staying.  If you're in Las Vegas or Boulder City and want to spend a day or afternoon at the Canyon, a West Rim tour is the way to go for practical reasons: it's the geographically closest. However, if you're planning a full-on Grand Canyon vacation, chances are you'll be staying on the South Rim, in which case, the choice is obvious. In terms of sightseeing, many West Rim tours give you the opportunity to see Lake Mead, the Hoover Dam, Bypass Bridge, and several native reservations. If you're looking to get out of Sin City for a day or an afternoon, a West Rim tour is the best way to access the splendor of the American Southwest. Moreover, because of the West Rim’s proximity to Vegas, most helicopter tours in this region include round-trip shuttle service. Conversely, the South Rim is “Grand Canyon Classic”—it has some of the most photographed vistas. When you see a shot of the canyon on a postcard, chances are it was taken from the South Rim. It features the desert-y painted cliffs we all recognize. South Rim tours take off from Grand Canyon National Park Airport, near Tusayan. Often, you'll need to provide your own transport to the airport. It’s worth pointing out that no one tour is objectively “better” than the next. Regardless of which rim you fly, you’ll be treated to ultra-comfy seats, wide windows with 180-degree views, and flexible flight schedules that range anywhere from under an hour to a full day.  What Will You See on a West Rim Helicopter Flight?   Your West Rim Grand Canyon helicopter tour from Las Vegas begins with a pass over Black Canyon, where the Colorado River snakes between the El Dorado Mountains of Nevada to the west and the Black Mountains of Arizona to the east. Along the way, you'll see Lake Mead, the largest reservoir in the United States when full. Its azure waters are held back by one of the greatest engineering feats of the twentieth century, the Hoover Dam. Built in the 1930s, this U.S. National Historic Landmark provides hydroelectric power to Southern California, Nevada, Arizona, and Mexico. Traversing the canyon just below the dam is yet another manmade marvel, Bypass Bridge. Nineteen-hundred feet long with a roadway 840 feet above the Colorado River, Bypass Bridge has the widest concrete arch in the Western Hemisphere and is the second highest bridge in the United States. The numbers are impressive. But when viewed from the air, even the largest man-made structures are dwarfed by the enormousness of the nature surrounding them. Your helicopter follows the winding Colorado then crests the Grand Wash Cliffs. Here, the grandeur of the Canyon stretches as far as the eye can see.  Your tour continues over the mesas, pillars, and buttresses that fill the West Rim landscape. Check out Fortification Hill, a 3,700-foot flat-top mountain formed by an ancient massive lava flow. A West Rim helicopter tour highlights both spectacular human accomplishment as well as the sheer vastness and mystery of the world we inhabit. What Will You See on a South Rim Helicopter Flight?   A South Rim helicopter tour is the ideal way to see the iconic formations of the Grand Canyon. After taking off from Tusayan, you'll fly over Kaibab National Forest, home to some of the tallest ponderosa pines in the world as well as white-tailed deer, elk, coyote—and the rare cougar and black bear. Next, descend into the Dragon Corridor, the deepest and widest part of the Canyon, and experience the heart of the Grand Canyon wilderness.  Through millions of years of erosion, the Colorado River has laid bare the entire geological history of the North American continent. You'll soar over dramatic colors, rock pillars, and otherworldly phenomena too numerous to count. See the Tower of Ra and the Temples of Osiris and Horus, a trinity of mountains that call to mind ancient Egyptian pyramids. At the very bottom of the canyon, two-billion-year-old exposed rock from the Vishnu Schist is visible in the Inner Gorge. Witness the confluence of the Little Colorado River and the larger Colorado, where the narrow and deep Marble Canyon gives way to the entrance of Upper Granite Gorge. The Little Colorado gets its distinctively bright blue color from limestone and travertine in its waters, though cloudbursts can cause its color to change rapidly. On a South Rim helicopter tour, the sheer number of gorgeous sights in one place is sure to boggle your mind. But Wait… There’s Also a North Rim! For Grand Canyon visitors, the North Rim offers a chance for a quieter, more pristine experience. In fact, it's only open for part of the year due to the heavy snowfall it experiences in winter. However, it's possible to see by helicopter year-round, so you can experience its quiet beauty regardless of when you plan your trip! If you're intrigued but staying on the South Rim, you're in luck—many South Rim helicopter tours also pass over the North Rim, allowing you to observe the differences in vegetation and weather on the two sides of the canyon. From the air, the North Rim's rugged scenery provides a sharp contrast to the colorful cliffs of the South Rim. Whereas the South Rim features mainly pines and firs, the northern Kaibab National Forest with its snowy highland climate can support birch, maple, and oak trees. A North Rim helicopter tour is a chance to see a less-frequented but equally stunning side of the Grand Canyon. How much are Grand Canyon helicopter tours?

Helicopter rides over the Grand Canyon vary in price depending on whether you want an air-only tour or want to land at the West Rim or for a Champagne picnic at the bottom of the canyon. Tours departing from the South Rim can be combined with hummer tours for top and bottom views!

What do you wear on a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon?

Dress according to the season. In the summer months, it is best to wear sunglasses and sunscreen.

What Models of Helicopter Fly Over the Grand Canyon? When you lift off on your Grand Canyon helicopter tour, you're safe in the hands of an experienced pilot helming a state-of-the-art piece of machinery. Chances are, you'll be on one of two models: the EC-130 or the Airbus AStar. The Airbus EC-130, also known as the ECOSTAR, is a thoroughly modern chopper designed for an optimal touring experience. An all-glass cockpit allows two passengers to sit next to the pilot, while wraparound windows make sure everyone on board has a great view. It can fit up to seven people. Thanks to anti-torque technology, the EC-130 has a much quieter engine than the average helicopter, enhancing your experience, and its Active Vibration Control System provides a smoother ride, too. In short, the EC-130 is designed with its air-tour passengers in mind, and it shows.  Alternatively, you might score a flight on an AStar, the same model that landed on Mount Everest. This six-seater helicopter is a workhorse. Used by the British military, firefighters, and rescue missions, this helicopter is renowned for its high visibility, streamlined handling, and exceptionally low noise levels. Up in the air in an AStar, you'll enjoy your Grand Canyon helicopter tour even more knowing you're in a vehicle used by the pros. Do Helicopter Tours Ever Land in the Grand Canyon?   Yes! Many Grand Canyon helicopter tours give you the chance to touch down and explore the wilderness for yourself. These landings take place to the west of the National Park in the Havasupai and Hualapai Reservations, some in areas only accessible by helicopter.  On the ground, you'll have the chance to photograph rock formations and the roaring Colorado River. To learn the history of the peoples who have called the Grand Canyon home for nearly a thousand years, consider a tour that stops at the Native American Village at Eagle Point. If you're planning a romantic getaway, choose a tour that offers a Champagne toast and picnic with your landing in the Grand Canyon. Feeling adventurous? You can pair your flight with a raft down the Colorado River in a pontoon, a wild jaunt down the canyon trails in a Hummer or Jeep, or experience a taste of the Old West in a wagon or horseback ride led by a real cowboy. But if you're pressed for time or not sure how long you'd like to spend in the air, don't worry—there are shorter trips without landings available. Test out the experience with a 15-minute flight. Chances are, you'll be so impressed you'll want to get back up in the air for a full-day tour! When’s the Best Time of the Year to Take a Grand Canyon Helicopter Tour? The biggest advantage of seeing the Grand Canyon on a helicopter tour is that you're not at the mercy of muddy trails, closed roads, or the extreme climates of this dramatic landscape. Helicopter tours are available year-round with various pros and cons to each season. Grand Canyon Helicopter Tours in Winter In the winter, a particular plus of a helicopter tour is that you can catch the sights of the North Rim, even when the road to that side of the canyon is closed and the rim is completely inaccessible. Plus, the Grand Canyon looks beautiful decked in a coat of white snow! Of course, snowstorms can make flight schedules somewhat unpredictable. But if you fly on a clear day, the views are unparalleled and make for a totally unique glimpse of the canyon. Grand Canyon Helicopter Tours in Spring In spring, both the North and South rims have wildflowers in full bloom. Yellow, purple, and orange blossoms carpet the canyon floor in a kaleidoscope of color. It's not a sight to be missed! Note that there are also fewer tourists to be seen, making for more interesting photo opportunities. Grand Canyon Helicopter Tours in Summer Summer with its long, sunny days has the ideal weather for a Grand Canyon helicopter tour. If you don't have a lot of time and are looking for reliably good weather, it's your best bet. Just keep in mind that summer is the most popular time of year for tourists, so you won't get the sense of having the place to yourself. Grand Canyon Helicopter Tours in Fall Once school is back in session in the autumn, the crowds thin out. Take advantage of both a quieter canyon and stunning fall foliage by planning your helicopter tour in September or November. The North Rim, with its wider variety of tree species, is an ideal destination for an autumnal leaf-peeping tour, but the aspens on the South Rim turn a stunning shade of yellow too. Start Planning your Grand Canyon Helicopter Tour Today! Visiting the many viewpoints of the Grand Canyon by car or hiking the gorges are both great ways to take in the sights. But if you'd like to get a broader view of this geological marvel, a Grand Canyon helicopter tour is the experience you need. It's the only way to cover miles of the Canyon in the span of minutes and provides better views than any point on the ground. Best of all, the convenient round-trip shuttles offered from Boulder City, Las Vegas, and Phoenix mean that when staying in those cities, you can experience the Grand Canyon without worrying about any of the logistics—even your meals are taken care of. You'll step off the chopper with a newfound appreciation for the natural wonders of our planet and photographs and memories that will never fade.

Best Grand Canyon Helicopter Tours From Las Vegas

Taking a Grand Canyon Helicopter Tour from Las Vegas is pricey, but it’s so, so worth it. I know how important it is to get a good tour- a bad tour can completely ruin a whole trip. So that’s why this list only features the best of the best. No matter which option you go for, you are guaranteed a great tour. Let’s take a look at the options!

1. Grand Canyon Deluxe Helicopter Tour from Las Vegas

⭐ RATING: 5 out of 5 Stars (1400+ reviews) | ⌛ TOUR LENGTH: 4 hours | 🚁 FLIGHT TIME: 45 mins x2 | 🏜 BOOK NOW

The Grand Canyon Deluxe Helicopter Tour from Las Vegas is the best of the best and it’s my favourite helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon. It has over 1400 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ratings and an overwhelming number of positive written reviews.

helicopter tours las vegas to grand canyon

When booking a tour, I like to go with a tried and tested option. No one wants to take a tour with no ratings, right? Especially on a tour as expensive as this.

But this tour has more than passed the test of time. It’s very rare you see a tour with so many reviews and such a high rating. I’ll say it again just to emphasise how high the standard of this tour is: Over 1400 5-star reviews. That’s an insane number! It’s the most popular Grand Canyon helicopter tour from Sin City.

I can personally vouch for the Grand Canyon Deluxe Helicopter Tour from Las Vegas too, and I can assure you it is more than worth the money. It’s one of those things in life where it seems expensive, but after the tour, it will seem cheap. Hard to believe, but it’s true.

The experience is indescribable, and one that you will remember forever. The word “unforgettable” could not be more true.

You get two 45-minute flights from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon and back. Throughout these flights, you get panoramic views over the Grand Canyon- but not only that.

As the review above says, it also flies by the Hoover Dam, Lake Mead (Joshua Tree), and on the return, you get a helicopter view over the Las Vegas Strip . All of this in one tour…incredible!

On top of the flights, you also get to land inside the Grand Canyon itself. It’s a pretty surreal feeling. You feel like a true VIP, a true celebrity.

Landing on a private buff creates a private and secluded feeling, as you are nowhere near any other tourists. The photo opportunities are endless.

Also included in the tour are champagne and light snacks , hotel pick-up and drop-off, and a pre-recorded commentary if you desire.

There are different times you can fly during the day, but I recommend taking the sunset option. Seeing a sunset over the Grand Canyon from the panoramic views inside a helicopter is a true pinch-me moment, and I wish everyone could experience it.

If you are looking for a Grand Canyon helicopter tour, you really can’t go wrong with booking the Grand Canyon Deluxe Helicopter Tour from Las Vegas . I can’t recommend it enough.

2. Grand Canyon Helicopter Tour with Champagne Toast

⭐ RATING: 4.5 out of 5 Stars (700+ reviews) | ⌛ TOUR LENGTH: 4.5 hours | 🚁 FLIGHT TIME: 35 mins x2 | 🏜 BOOK NOW

Another very highly-rated tour is the Grand Canyon Helicopter Tour with Champagne Toast which has over 700 ratings, coming in at 4.5/5, which is very solid.

helicopter tours las vegas to grand canyon

Just like the first tour, the Grand Canyon Helicopter Tour with Champagne Toast has passed the test of hundreds of travellers before you, and before me.

A tour doesn’t get such a high rating by fluke, and it’s clear to see why this tour is so highly sought after.

You can choose from tours at three different times of the day , each offering a slightly different experience. Some may choose the morning slot for cooler temperatures in the Grand Canyon. But as I said, nothing beats a Grand Canyon sunset helicopter tour for me. It’s the best, in my opinion.

This helicopter tour spends 30 minutes or longer on the floor of the Grand Canyon after landing, allowing for enough time for the named champagne toast, and a short picnic . And photos, of course, who could forget?!

As a travel blogger, I always like to take lots of photos so I can use them in my posts just like on this one that you’re reading right now, and these tours allowed for so much time to take photos- it was great. It’s such a photogenic area.

What I like about this tour is that the pilot narrates throughout the flight , meaning you know when and where to look. You definitely don’t want to miss out on any sights, as the helicopter flies over the Hoover Dam, Lake Mead and the Strip. There is no better way to see any of these than from above.

That’s why I would encourage anyone visiting Vegas to take one of these Grand Canyon helicopter tours from Las Vegas, because it’s more than just a Grand Canyon helicopter tour, it’s a complete panoramic tour of this part of the States. You can’t beat it.

The only downside about this tour is that there is a fuel fee not included. It costs $30 per person and is payable on the day. It’s annoying, but it’s a small inconvenience and a small price to pay for the tour of a lifetime.

Other than this, I truly can’t think of any other negatives. You won’t regret it if you book the Grand Canyon Helicopter Tour with Champagne Toast . If you’re anything like me, you’ll wish you were the pilot who gets to fly every single day.

3. Grand Canyon West Rim Luxury Helicopter Tour

⭐ RATING: 4.5 out of 5 Stars (750+ reviews) | ⌛ TOUR LENGTH: 3 hours | 🚁 FLIGHT TIME: 90 mins | 🏜 BOOK NOW

It’s so impressive that there are so many tour options that are so highly rated. Grand Canyon West Rim Luxury Helicopter Tour also has over 700 ratings, with a strong 4.5/5 average.

helicopter tours las vegas to grand canyon

What I love about this tour is its attention to detail . When booking a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon, while it’s great that you get to fly over other exciting sights, you want the focus to be on the canyon itself.

And this tour does exactly that. In fact, it highlights lots of different spots within the Grand Canyon. Such as the Colorado River, for example.

If you were wondering, the minimum age for these tours is 2 years old. So as long as your kids are 2 or older, they can enjoy the incredible experience with you. Just imagine the memories you will all create together! Infants do have to sit on laps, just like on a plane, but older children can have their own seats.

Light refreshments are included in this tour, and with the heat of the desert of the Grand Canyon, trust me when I say, they’ll be warmly welcomed. Or cool-ly welcomed, should I say.

I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again, taking any of these Grand Canyon helicopter tours from Las Vegas is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and I would recommend it to anyone. It’s a no-brainer for me and when you see the views for yourself, you’ll understand why.

The photo opportunities this tour provides are unmatched. Firstly, you get to take photos with a helicopter which is pretty badass if you ask me.

Secondly, you get to take photos inside a helicopter which is even more badass. And thirdly, you get to take breathtaking photos of the panoramic views over the Grand Canyon, Lake Mead, Hoover Dam, the Strip, and more.

Unfortunately, you aren’t guaranteed certain seats as the seats are assigned based on weight distribution. But I’d suggest asking if you can get the front seats. If you don’t ask, you don’t get!

Note that there is a maximum weight of 250 lbs (112 kg/ 17.85 st). If you weigh more than this, you have to buy a second seat.

Interested in taking a tour you’ll never forget? Book the Grand Canyon West Rim Luxury Helicopter Tour before it sells out.

4. From Las Vegas: Grand Canyon Helicopter Tour with Champagne

A picture of the Grand Canyon through a helicopter window.

⭐ RATING: 4.9 out of 5 Stars (290+ reviews) | ⌛ TOUR LENGTH: 4 hours | 🚁 FLIGHT TIME: 45 mins x2 | 🏜 BOOK NOW

For a classy and luxurious helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon from Las Vegas, book a spot on the From Las Vegas: Grand Canyon Helicopter Tour with Champagne .

helicopter tours las vegas to grand canyon

As the name suggests, Grand Canyon Helicopter Tour with Champagne is a Grand Canyon helicopter tour with champagne.

And yes, the champagne is even included in the morning flight. I don’t drink alcohol personally, but for those who do…it’s never too early for champagne . Right??

Most people haven’t flown in a helicopter before, and this is the best way to start. It’s such a luxurious way to travel, and the helicopters used in the tour are state-of-the-art. The seats are comfortable and there’s more room than I pictured beforehand.

This tour is for those who appreciate the finer details in life. As in the morning tour, breakfast is served on the floor of the Grand Canyon. It’s quite the morning if I do say so myself. I’ve never been treated quite as well as on this tour.

I travel with the motto of a YouTuber I like called Zac Alsop. He says to do things that make good stories to tell your grandkids .

And I think this tour does exactly that. Just imagine yourself on the ground of the Grand Canyon having a buffet breakfast after flying in a helicopter. Wow!

The land spot for this tour is a Hualapai Indian Reservation which makes it even more special, as you get an insight into the culture of the Hualapai tribe.

By the way, the helicopter tours include flying below the rim, so you get to fly through the Grand Canyon as well as fly over it.

It’s a completely immersive experience as you fly through the walls of the canyon whizzing past on both sides. It doesn’t feel real, it feels like a video game. But it is real, and it’s amazing.

Taking normal Grand Canyon tours or seeing it from a car is cool, but it’s impossible to compete with seeing it from a helicopter. If this sounds like a bit of you, then be sure to book the From Las Vegas: Grand Canyon Helicopter Tour with Champagne .

5. Extended Grand Canyon West Rim Air-Only Helicopter Tour

A picture of the Hoover Dam from above taken during one of these Grand Canyon helicopter tours from Las Vegas.

⭐ RATING: 4.5 out of 5 Stars (475+ reviews) | ⌛ TOUR LENGTH: 4 hours | 🚁 FLIGHT TIME: 90 mins | 🏜 BOOK NOW

If you want a more basic Grand Canyon helicopter tour, then the Extended Grand Canyon West Rim Air-Only Helicopter Tour is the best option for you.

Review which says "I had been wanting to do this tour for a long time and let me tell you, the wait was worth it. Seeing the canyon from above is a must! Everything was on time. A lot of safety explanations wich was great because we had never been on a helicopter. The views are spectacular! Coming back in we saw the Last Vegas strip up close. Highly recommend this tour!"

To be clear, this tour does not land in the Grand Canyon, it does not have a fancy lunch or a champagne toast, it’s a simple, bread-and-butter helicopter tour.

But that’s what makes this tour appealing to someone. It has no extra fancy add-ons , it’s exactly what it says it is.

That’s not to knock the tour- it’s extraordinary. And it actually means you spend a lot more time in the helicopter , which might be what you want because it is a helicopter tour at the end of the day.

As the name suggests, it’s an extended helicopter tour. It’s actually the longest flight possible. To quote the tour on Viator, “Fly 30 miles (48 kilometres) – the longest available flight above and below the rim of the canyon.”

Quite the flight, right? I’d never flown in a helicopter before taking a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon, but I wished I could stay in the helicopter forever. What an experience it was.

Having an extended flight allows you to see even more 360° views that will leave you speechless. There are few places in the world where taking a helicopter tour is as worth it as the Grand Canyon. Seeing the famous pasty red-orange colour of the rock and sand for miles upon miles is a sight to be seen.

It’s a proper “ Vegas bucket list ” experience.

If you are looking for a simplified helicopter tour, with the most time possible spent actually in the helicopter, then you’ll really enjoy the Extended Grand Canyon West Rim Air-Only Helicopter Tour .

6. From Las Vegas: Grand Canyon Skywalk Express Helicopter Tour

A picture of the Grand Canyon level with the camera taken while flying below the rim

⭐ RATING: 4.7 out of 5 Stars (175+ reviews) | ⌛ TOUR LENGTH: 4.5 hours | 🚁 FLIGHT TIME: 45 mins x2 | 🏜 BOOK NOW

The Grand Canyon Skywalk is another amazing way to get views over the Grand Canyon National Park. Imagine a world where you could combine the Skywalk with a helicopter tour. Oh, wait, you can! Thank goodness the From Las Vegas: Grand Canyon Skywalk Express Helicopter Tour exists!

Review which says "It was the highlight of our Las Vegas trip. You have to have done it. A bird's eye view of the Strip, Hooverdam, Skywalk and Grand Canyon, amazing!!!"

It starts off as a normal Las Vegas helicopter tour to the Grand Canyon, offering views over the Canyon as you fly over the rugged terrain.

You also fly over the typical sights like the Hoover Dam and the Strip. The only real difference is that you land at the Skywalk instead of at a barbecue or picnic site. By the way, having a helicopter tour over the Strip included is a huge bonus. Las Vegas Helicopter Tours of the Strip alone cost hundreds of dollars!

And VIP access to the Skywalk is included in the tour price too.

If you aren’t familiar, the Skywalk is a glass bridge which extends out over 70 feet from the edge of the Canyon. It’s also 4000 feet from the floor of the Canyon. The views are awesome , and combined with a helicopter flight, it’s hard to beat this tour.

You get to spend around 40 minutes at the Skywalk. The tour lasts for 4.5 hours which includes the shuttle pick up and drop off, and all the safety stuff beforehand.

By the way, anyone over 18 needs to bring a valid ID as per the FAA laws. I was 19 when I visited Las Vegas (so that champagne I was talking about and how I don’t drink, even if I wanted to, I wouldn’t have been able to 😐) and I almost forgot to bring ID so make sure to remember to bring it!

By the way, the Grand Canyon is definitely the most impressive Canyon you can visit from Las Vegas, but you should also check out the Red Rock Canyon. Horseback riding through Red Rock Canyon is an incredible experience- one not to miss out on during a trip to Sin City.

But for a unique tour option which combines the best “normal” way to see the Grand Canyon with the real best way to see the Grand Canyon, which is by helicopter, book the From Las Vegas: Grand Canyon Skywalk Express Helicopter Tour .

7. Grand Canyon West Rim Aerial Helicopter Tour

⭐ RATING: 4.5 out of 5 Stars (180+ reviews) | ⌛ TOUR LENGTH: 4 hours | 🚁 FLIGHT TIME: 70-90 minutes | 🏜 BOOK NOW

Last but by no means least is the Grand Canyon West Rim Aerial Helicopter Tour . It goes to show the quality of these tours, that even the last one to feature in this article has a rating of 4.5/5 with nearly 200 reviews. Trust me, if you took this tour, you wouldn’t know it was last on my list!

Review which says "The helicopter ride over the Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon was awesome! Our pilot was so nice and informative about the areas we were flying over. It was a nice little stop down in the Grand Canyon to take pictures and have a glass of champagne and some healthy snacks. This beats driving any day and is well worth the money."

There’s not really much more I can say about Grand Canyon helicopter tours without sounding like a broken record.

This tour is great. It’s as good as any helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon you will take, and it will leave you with memories that you will play through your mind over and over again.

Unfortunately, this tour doesn’t include a landing in the Canyon, which is why it’s further down the list, but it does fly over a few extra sights you might not see on other tours. Such as the Skywalk bridge and the Guano Point viewpoint.

What I do like about this tour – and most of these tours but I haven’t mentioned yet – is that the hotel pickup is by limo. Yes, that’s right. You can take a Las Vegas limo tour , without even booking a limo tour. A limo ride and helicopter flight? Talk about riding in style 😎.

You can also take this tour from two locations – either Las Vegas itself or Boulder City, which is just outside Las Vegas. I’d recommend Las Vegas, just to get the flight over the Strip on the return flight. Trust me, it’s worth it.

For a helicopter tour as good as any, book the Grand Canyon West Rim Aerial Helicopter Tour well in advance, as these helicopter tours are popular and can sell out in peak seasons.
