2024 Cognizant Classic one and done picks, odds, sleepers: PGA Tour predictions, expert golf betting advice

Mike mcclure locked in his pga one and done golf picks, rankings and top sleepers for the cognizant classic in the palm beaches 2024 at pga national resort in palm beach gardens.

min-woo-lee-usatsi-cbs.jpg

The PGA Tour Florida swing gets underway on Thursday at PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens when the 2024 Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches, formerly known as the Honda Classic, tees off. World No. 2 Rory McIlroy headlines the 144 players in the 2024 Cognizant Classic field. McIlroy is listed as the 6-1 favorite in the 2024 Cognizant Classic odds. Other top contenders include Cameron Young (22-1), Russell Henley (25-1), Matt Fitzpatrick (28-1), Min Woo Lee (30-1), J.T. Poston (30-1), Tom Kim (30-1), Sungjae Im (35-1), Byeong Hun An (35-1), and Eric Cole (35-1). The total 2024 Cognizant Classic purse is $9 million, with the winner's share listed as $1.62 million.

As the most accomplished and highest-ranked player in the field, should McIlroy be among your top targets in One and Done pools this week? Or should you target a long shot like Keith Mitchell, Justin Rose, or Ricke Fowler? Before locking in your 2024 Cognizant Classic one and done picks, you need to see what SportsLine DFS pro and PGA expert Mike McClure has to say .

The One and Done format is growing in popularity. It has several noticeable similarities to NFL Survivor pools, with the main difference being entries are not eliminated with a bad week. Players pick one golfer per week and earn points based on their selected golfer's prize money for that tournament. Golfers can only be used once per season, and the point format makes nailing majors, signature events, and big money tournaments critical.

McClure is a DFS legend with over $2 million in career winnings, and he's been red-hot on his PGA picks dating back to the PGA Tour restart in June of 2020. McClure uses his proprietary simulation model to analyze the field and crush his  golf picks .

McClure nailed plenty of One and Done picks in 2023. At the 2023 Farmers Insurance Open, McClure's top One and Done pick, Max Homa, outlasted the entire field to take home his sixth career PGA Tour victory and $1.566 million. At the WM Phoenix Open, McClure nailed Scheffler winning the tournament, taking home $3.6 million.

He correctly called Jon Rahm's wins at The Masters and the Sentry Tournament of Champions. Then at the RBC Canadian Open McClure listed Nick Taylor and Tyrrell Hatton as two of his top one and done picks. Taylor would go on to win the tournament, while Hatton finished in third place. And finally, at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, his top OAD pick was eventual tournament champion Rickie Fowler.

This season, one of his top OAD picks was for The American Express was Justin Thomas, who finished in third place and took home $635,600, and at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am his top pick was Scottie Scheffler, who finished in sixth place after the final round was cancelled due to weather. At the WM Phoenix Open, McClure recommended OAD players use Scheffler as their pick if they hadn't done so already this season. He ended up finishing in third place, taking home $519,200. Finally, one of McClure's top OAD picks at the Genesis Invitational was Patrick Cantlay, who finished in fourth place at the signature event.

Now, McClure has dialed in on the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches golf tournament and just locked in his one and done picks and PGA predictions. They are a must-see for any player looking for an edge in their One and Done pool. You can only see McClure's Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches 2024 one and done picks at SportsLine .

Top 2024 Cognizant Classic One and Done picks

One of McClure's top one and done picks this week for the Cognizant Classic is Min Woo Lee. The 25-year-old Australian is still looking for his first career PGA Tour victory, but is quickly establishing himself as one of the top young players in the sport. In 2023, Lee was in contention before ultimately finishing in the top-10 at The Players, U.S. Open, The Travelers, and the Zozo Championship.

Lee is one of the longest players on the PGA Tour, and currently ranks 11th in strokes gained off-the-tee (0.665), 10th in driving distance (309.1), and fourth in average club head speed (123.73). PGA National isn't a particularly long course (7,147 yards), but Lee's length off the tee will give him a noticeable advantage at the 2024 Cognizant Classic.  You can see who else to back at SportsLine .

How to make Cognizant Classic 2024 One and Done picks

McClure is also targeting another golfer for his 2024 Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches one and done picks who was outstanding throughout the 2023 season. This former major championship winner has the ability to win any tournament he enters, and is one of the most talented golfers in this wide open field. You can find out who it is, and check out all of McClure's Cognizant Classic one and done picks at SportsLine .

Who wins the the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches 2024, and which golfers should you target for your PGA one and done picks this week? Visit SportsLine now to get Mike McClure's Cognizant Classic 2024 one and done picks, all from the DFS pro who called Nick Taylor's epic win at the RBC Canadian Open and Rickie Fowler's win at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in 2023 , and find out.

The PGA TOUR’s Florida Swing begins this week at PGA National, where Chris Kirk returns as the defending champion at the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches after an emotional playoff victory in 2023.

Rory McIlroy returns to the Cognizant Classic before a busy Florida stretch that will also include starts at the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard and THE PLAYERS Championship. McIlroy, who will get to sleep in his own bed this week, has won all three tournaments.

PGA National will now play as a par 71, with the 10th hole now a 530-yard par 5. Previously, the course played as a par 70, with the 10th playing as a long par 4 around 500 yards depending on the tee box.

Here’s everything else you need to know before play begins.

FIELD NOTES: McIlroy , who is making his third TOUR start of 2024, is searching for his first top-10 finish. This will mark his 10th start at PGA National but first since 2018. He won in 2012 – holding off Tiger Woods – and finished second in 2014… Chris Kirk looks to successfully defend his title at PGA National – something that hasn’t been done here since Jack Nicklaus in 1977-78. Kirk won The Sentry to open the 2024 PGA TOUR season… Eric Cole , whom Kirk defeated in a playoff at PGA National a year ago, lives in the area and returns to try and do one better this year. Cole, who won the TOUR’s Rookie of the Year honor last year, has had five top 25s in seven starts this season, including a T10 at The Genesis Invitational… The latest PGA TOUR winner, Jake Knapp , will look to make it two in a row. He’s set to tee it up at the Cognizant Classic, where he’ll make his PGA National debut… Current FedExCup leader Matthieu Pavon is back in action for the first time since finishing third at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Pavon has three top-10 finishes this season including his breakthrough win at the Farmers Insurance Open… World No. 9 Matt Fitzpatrick is making his third start at the Cognizant Classic and first since 2017. His best this season: a T14 at The Sentry… Fellow European Ryder Cuppers Shane Lowry and Justin Rose are also in the field at PGA National. Rose returns to PGA National for just the second time since 2015 despite having finished in the top five in 2010, 2012 and 2013. Lowry, meanwhile, will tee it up for the fifth straight year. He was one shot behind winner Sepp Straka in 2022 and, like McIlroy, lives in Jupiter… Another resident of Jupiter, Rickie Fowler , returns to the Cognizant Classic after missing it last season for the first time in 13 years. Fowler won at PGA National in 2017 and was the runner up in 2019… In all, 19 of the top 50 golfers in the Official World Golf Ranking are set to tee it up.

SPONSOR EXEMPTIONS: Ryan Palmer will make his 500th career PGA TOUR start in his 15th appearance at the Cognizant Classic. Palmer’s best result at PGA National came in 2014 when he finished second. He’s a four-time TOUR winner… Fred Biondi will tee it up for the second week in a row on the PGA TOUR. Biondi, the 2023 NCAA individual champion at the University of Florida, missed the cut last at the Mexico Open at Vidanta last week but has made four cuts in four starts on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2024 including a tie for seventh to start the season… Rasmus Højgaard will make his 2024 PGA TOUR debut at PGA National. He hasn’t finished worse than T11 on the DP World Tour, including a runner-up finish at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship. Højaard’s twin brother, Nicolai, finished second at the Farmers Insurance Open last month… APGA standout Chase Johnson will make his sixth career PGA TOUR start. Johnson was the Charlie Sifford Memorial Exemption winner for The Genesis Invitational and made the cut… Patton Kizzire has been trying to play his way back into form after losing his TOUR card last year, while Padraig Harrington is a two-time winner of the Cognizant Classic, most recently in 2015.

SIGNATURE EVENT STORYLINES: The Aon Swing 5 for the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard is made up of the top five FedExCup points earners from the Mexico Open at Vidanta and the Cognizant Classic… Sami Valimaki leads the way, with Stephan Jaeger , Justin Lower, C.T. Pan and Robert MacIntyre inside the magic number. All five are in the field at PGA National… Five golfers are 20 points behind the final qualifying spot: Doug Ghim, Chan Kim, Andrew Novak, Erik van Rooyen and Carson Young … The Aon Next 10 for the Arnold Palmer Invitational will be comprised of the top 10 players in the 2024 FedExCup standing who are not yet exempt for the field… Jaeger is also in the mix in the Aon Next 10, just 31 points behind Thomas Detry for the last spot… Mark Hubbard is just ahead of Detry in the ninth spot.

COMCAST BUSINESS TOUR TOP 10 UPDATES: Mexico winner Jake Knapp moved up 45 spots to No. 8 in the standings… Three players have been in the Comcast Business TOUR Top 10 every week this season: defending Cognizant champ Chris Kirk, J.T. Poston and Byeong Hun An … There are only two golfers under the age of 30 in the top 10 – Scottie Scheffler and Knapp.

FEDEXCUP: Winner receives 500 FedExCup points.

COURSE: PGA National (Champion), par 71, 7,147 yards. New for this year is No. 10 playing as a 530-yard par 5. Fairway lines were also widened in May of last year, reverting to the grassing lines from 2012-13. One acre of fairway grass was added since last year.

Tom and George Fazio designed the course in 1981 and it was re-worked by Jack Nicklaus in 2002, 2014 and 2018. Water comes into play on 15 of the 18 holes including The Bear Trap (Nos. 15-17).

72-HOLE RECORD: 264, Justin Leonard (2003 at Mirasol). PGA National record: 266, Chris Kirk (2023), Eric Cole (2023)

18-HOLE RECORD: 61, Brian Harman (Round 2, 2012), Matt Jones (Round 1, 2021)

LAST TIME: Chris Kirk won on the PGA TOUR for the first time in nearly eight years, his birdie on the first playoff hole topping Eric Cole. Kirk had a one-shot lead on 18 in regulation, but hit his approach shot in the water and made bogey. When Cole missed his 20-foot birdie try, the two headed to a playoff. Cole went for it in two but hit his approach into the greenside bunker; Kirk, who laid up, hit his wedge to just 16 inches. Cole missed his 10-foot birdie try and it was over. Cole would win Rookie of the Year, while Kirk was bestowed the PGA TOUR Courage Award after returning to the winners’ circle for the first time since taking a leave of absence from the TOUR in May of 2019 to address issues of alcohol abuse and depression.

Tyler Duncan finished third and Ryan Gerard, who Monday qualified, finished fourth. There was a five-way tie for fifth.

PGA Tour Rookie of Year Eric Cole returns to Cognizant after last year's runner-up finish

hambik tours tours 2023

One year ago, Eric Cole was about six months into earning his PGA Tour card, was ranked 330th in the world and had pocketed less than $400,000 on the Tour.

Now, the Tequesta resident is 37th in the world, has just under $7.2 million in career earnings and is the reigning PGA Tour Rookie of the Year .

And all of this happened in the year he turned 35.

"I think everyone's story is probably a little different as far as their road to the PGA Tour and success on the PGA Tour," said Cole, the son of professonal golfers Laura Baugh and Bobby Cole.

"In my case, it was a long road and a tough road. I just tried to stay the course and not not get too down on myself and stick to what I'm doing and kind of have confidence in what I'm doing is right. And then eventually the results will be there."

Those results came quick. Cole grinded away for more than a decade on mini tours, winning 56 events on the Minor League Golf Tour, earning his Korn Ferry Tour card in 2017 and 2021. He earned his PGA Tour card for the 2022-23 season - 14 years after turning pro - and in about four months started turning heads.

And he took full advantage of that status playing 37 events last season.

Finally, after his first top 15 finish at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Cole's breakout event occurred a few miles from his home. Cole shot a 266 to force a playoff with Chris Kirk at the 2023 Honda Classic, the lowest score since the tournament - now known as the Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches - moved to PGA National in 2007. Kirk won the playoff, denying Cole his first PGA Tour win.

Since then, he's come close with five more top 5s.

Cole, who practices with Tequesta neighbor Nick Hardy along with Mark Calcavecchia and Russ Cochran, who play on the PGA Tour Champions, is not surprised with his meteoric rise. He's a professional athlete and professional athletes are not lacking confidence. The one thing he believed prevented him from reaching the next level was putting together that one solid round each week that could take him to the top.

Especially in Q-School, where the pressure is greater than any of these golfers face, often determining whether they continue in their sport or start looking for work in the real world.

"It was really more than anything just performing when I needed to," Cole said. "That was a big problem for me, for whatever reason, I couldn't have a good round when I needed one. I just couldn't kind of get over the finish line.

"I just kept hitting that wall and then once I broke through it, it was almost like relief … 'Alright, I've gotten here. Now I can kind of take a deep breath and kind of just play my game.' "

And it wasn't just forcing that playoff with Kirk with a par on the 72nd hole. Cole said earning his tour card was a "huge breakthrough," but being near the top of the leader board on the final day for the first time was the next step.

"That was the first tournament where I was really in contention," said Cole, who will play the event for the second time this year. "So that was a great environment and a cool spot to be. When you get in, it's a little bit addicting, so you kind of want to be in it again. And in my case, I wanted to get different results.

"Once you kind of feel that you want to feel it as much as you can."

The finish got Cole into the Players and two months later he was in his first major, placing 15th at the PGA Championship in Rochester, N.Y. A steady climb throughout the year resulted in Cole qualifying for FedEx Cup Playoff and earning his way into the 2024 signature events.

Some of those not in signature events this season: Justin Thomas, Adam Scott, Shane Lowry and Billy Horshel.

What does that mean?

"I'm going to be able to take a few more weeks off maybe throughout the year versus last year," he said. "I was trying to play to get in a lot of the big events."

Then came the reward for that patience and hard work: Winning an award his mom won 50 years ago on the LPGA Tour.

Baugh turned professional after winning the 1971 U.S. Women’s Amateur. She joined the LPGA Tour in 1973 and captured Rookie of the Year honors after a solid debut season.

Cole is the second-oldest player to be named top rookie on the PGA Tour behind Todd Hamilton, who was 39 when he won in 2004. The Rookie of Year Award was established in 1990.

Cole now is seeking to join his dad as a PGA Tour winner. Bobby Cole, a South African, won the 1977 Buick Open and twice finished third in a major. Baugh had 10 runner-ups in her career.

Still, the younger Cole is not feeling any added pressure to win. He's the ultimate 'stay in the moment' kind of guy. He is able to move on from each shot, each round, each tournament.

"I think of it more individually," he said. "Each shot has its own shot, each tournament has its own tournament, each year has its own year. So while it's cool to have that honor from last year it's just a combination of having a lot of good weeks, having a whole bunch of little things right.

"Now it's just onto the next thing."

The fountains of Peterhof

#Attractions #Peterhof #Sightseeing #Parks

One of the main distinguishing features of the Peterhof fountains is the original arrangement of a conduit. Unlike Versailles, this grandiose construction works without pumps and other water-pressure facilities. Water is supplied from numerous natural and artificial ponds, nourished by underground sources and springs.

The Grand cascade

At first, Peter I had planned the ponds of the Upper garden to be the water source for the Grand cascade and its fountains, but soon the tireless ruler, who personally investigated the area, found additional sources of water, which situated in the neighborhood of the future Peterhof Park. The nature of the terrain enabled the creation of a system of conduits, in which the water flowed by gravity from dozens of ponds, located above the Lower Park and the Upper garden.

Thus, all 4 cascades, and 191 Peterhof fountains (including the Grand cascade water cannons) are fed by ponds of Ropshinsky hills (which are located at a distance of 24 kilometres), as well as English, Meadow, Olgin and other ponds (18 ponds overall) and many streams and sources. All of these sources combine into a complex system of sluices and canals with total length of 40 kilometers. The most surprising fact is that the system of water pipelines constructed by the order of Peter I and with his personal participation operates to this day.

“The most notable of all the Peterhof fountains is spectacular and majestic Grand cascade”

The most notable of all the Peterhof fountains is spectacular and majestic Grand cascade. This gilded splendor includes 255 sculptures, bas reliefs and other architectural structures, as well as 64 fountains with 138 water jets soaring skyward. The focus of the entire composition is the famous gilded “Samson tearing the lion’s mouth”, and in the center of the cascade there is a Lower grotto with a viewing point decorated with golden sculptures and marble bas-reliefs.

Another cascade fountain, named Checkerboard hill, looks like a bright spot on green background. 20-meter speed checker board with two mysterious caves that are guarded by three dragons is sometimes also called the Cascade of dragons. On both sides of the construction there are staircases, decorated with sculptures of white marble. At the beginning of the World War II, the sculptures had been removed and hidden, while the cascade itself was completely destroyed by the Nazis.

The “Favorite” fountain

Like many years ago, the moving fountains are extremely popular among the visitors of Peterhof Park. These include the “Favorite” fountain, created in 1725. It depicts quacking ducks floating in a circle, and a little dog that unsuccessfully tries to catch them. It is a good sign if you lucky enough to throw your coin right at the duck’s back and if the coin remains there. So despite its modest size, park staff daily extracts a lot more coins from the “Favoirte” than from any other Peterhof fountain.

Today Peterhof is the most popular of all the Petersburg suburbs. Its palaces and fountains impress the most sophisticated travelers. Each of Peterhof fountains is a jewel in its unique and luxurious collection. If you want to find yourself in a dreamland, come to Peterhof and take a walk in its enchanting parks among fabulous fountains.

We were picked up from our hotel in Moscow by a private car and got to the train station. The tickets to the train from Moscow to St Petersburg were already included. We only had to board the train. After about 3,5 hours we arrived to St Petersburg. The guide was waiting for us at the train station. From there we went for a city tour by a private car. Our driver and guide were excellent. We didn't have to worry about the tickets to the museums and entry times. All program was pre-arranged. In the evening they dropped us off at the train station to go back to Moscow. Upon arrival the driver was waiting for us at the train station. Thanks to the tour company for this amazing trip. Read more Written August 24, 2022

  • 605stephanf 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Great tour! enjoyed every minute We had a wonderful trip to Russia and an amazing tour of St Petersburg in early February before the start of the pandemics. The guide for the 2 day tour (I forgot her name) was the best person to do this job . Personable, friendly and informative. She took us to the museums and palaces as well as to nice places for lunch. I was amazed by the Russian churches I have never seen that much gold in any other place. Thanks to the guide and the driver it was possible to see so much more than we could have seen on our own even in a week. BTW traveling in February was not as cold as I imagined. I would recommend this tour to anyone. Read more Written December 29, 2020
