Magical Santa Claus experience comes to the Fruit Market this Christmas!
Santa and his playful elves will be based in the former Humber Fruit Brokers building on Humber Street.
The experience is being supported by Wykeland Beal, the joint venture development company of Wykeland Grou p and Beal Homes working in partnership with Hull City Council to transform the Fruit Market.
Wykeland Beal has teamed up with Redland Events to welcome Father Christmas to the Fruit Market. They left out some mince pies at the Humber Fruit Brokers building at 66-68 Humber Street and Santa’s crew duly made a midnight visit to check the venue out, leaving a message to say they’d be back with their boss at the end of November!
Natalia Cleary, Wykeland and Fruit Market Culture and Events Manager, said: “We’re really excited that Santa Claus has decided to make the Fruit Market his festive headquarters and is calling on local families to help him and his elves get all the presents ready for Christmas delivery.
“This will be a magical and unforgettable Christmas experience and great fun for children and grown-ups alike.
“We’re bringing the magic of Christmas to the Fruit Market and spreading a big sprinkling of festive cheer to celebrate this special time of year.”
Jack Mangan of Redland Events said: “Hull has never had something quite like The Santa Claus Experience. It’s more than a visit to a grotto – the audiences will be part of the magic, learning the elves’ routines and helping to save Christmas. It’s about the whole family sharing in an experience together.
“After a year when cheer has been hard to come by, we’re excited to be partnering with Wykeland Beal for this event. With their support, we’re bringing the festive spirit back to Hull!”
Four daytime performances are planned each day on November 27 th and 28 th and December 4 th , 5 th , 11 th , 12 th , 18 th , 19 th , 20 th , 21 st , 22 nd , 23 rd and 24 th at the Humber Fruit Brokers building.
Tickets cost £15 per child (including gift bag) and £5 for adults (including free mulled wine and festive treat).
As well as the daytime performances, the Humber Fruit Brokers venue will also welcome adults for evening entertainment throughout December. Revellers should look out for announcements on social media of festive events that are perfect for office parties and nights out, including a comedy Christmas quiz and karaoke with Bad Santa.

The countdown is on and Christmas will soon be here. Shops have been stocking up with festive goodies for a while and local attractions have spent months planning their seasonal offering.
The cost of living crisis means money will be tighter for many families this Christmas season. It could be that people will plan just the one Christmas activity to partake in, rather than the series of events that they would normally be marking on the calendar.
With the restrictions placed on everyone by the pandemic, over the past couple of years, and moves now towards a more normal Christmastime, there is plenty in the offing for families to choose from. Some events will be free to attend, helping those whose budgets are stretched but still want the kids to enjoy that magical festive feeling.

Other events, such as a visit to the pantomime, obviously have costs attached but many folk will believe it is worth foregoing some of the other non-essential luxuries associated with Christmas to have one big fun blowout to mark the season. Here is a selection of Christmas events in and around the Hull area for you to choose from.

The Nantasket Carousel is a lovely, preserved old-fashioned carousel. My daughter really enjoyed it.
Visit with Santa
The Paragon Carousel was open for 2 days at Christmas time & provides rides and a visit with Santa. There is also hot chocolate and cookies, a few things to buy & a silent auction, all to benefit the caroucel and the on going restoration. Very pleasent experience and opportunity to visit and support a historic treasure. If you like carousels try to make time to visit this one. Not sure when it is open again, check website.
They went all-out for Halloween! So many little "extras" that would make a child's eyes light up. And I notice they have restored more and more of the horses into really fine shape. Note: limited hours at this time of year (off season)
We attended a wedding held at the carousel. It was beautiful and family enjoyed a ride on the carousel with the bride and groom. Great fun.
This is a tradition for my family since the carousel began in1928. The adults seem to enjoy it as much as the OPchildren. For those of us who remember Paragoon Park it probably the first amusement we went on. To the older members of the family it brings back memories of a more inoccent time. The young children are amazed and the older ones want a horse that goes up and down and wishes it could go faster. Soon we will start the sixth generation enjoying this beautiful carousel. We have several photo albums a quite a few home movies of the wonderful times spent here in 88 years.
Took my grandchildren to Nantucket Beach for the day and ended here and the kids were so delighted. The carousel itself is quite old and has been in hull for years.
For carousel lovers, this is a must see. Some of the horses have been beautifully restored, while others show the effects of providing many fun turns over the years.
