Super Hero action, thrills and drama will soar, smash and burst into London next year as Marvel Universe LIVE! returns with a brand new show. Visiting The O2 from 26 September - 6 October 2019, in this all new production, produced by Feld Entertainment, Marvel fans see Spider-Man, The Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy join forces with Doctor Strange, master of the mystic arts, in a race against time to recover the Wand of Watoomb before it falls into Loki’s hands.

The audience will witness cutting-edge special effects, pyrotechnics, and impressive 3D video projection mapping in this completely new thrilling adventure. With aerial stunts, martial arts and daring motorcycle skills, fans of all ages will be immersed in the Marvel universe in a show unlike anything they’ve ever seen before!

Called on by Doctor Strange, the Guardians of the Galaxy join Marvel Universe LIVE! on a momentous crusade against the scheming Nebula who teams up with the conniving and loathsome villains Loki and Green Goblin. The incredible superhuman forces of Iron Man, Thor, Black Panther, Hulk and Black Widow will unite in clashes that pit student against mentor, sister against sister and brother against brother.

British Marvel fans will soon be able to see their heroes up close as the Marvel Universe Live stage show comes to the UK.

Spider-Man, Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow and other fan favourites will be touching down in Nottingham on 7 September, before taking up residence in the O2 Arena in London from 15 to 24 September, then touring to Birmingham, Glasgow, Sheffield and Manchester.

What is Marvel Universe Live?

Starring a huge cast of characters from the Marvel comic books, the show is billed as a "live entertainment experience… unlike anything seen before".

It is being hailed as "the most technically advanced live show ever", the Daily Record says, featuring "cutting-edge special effects, pyrotechnics, aerial stunts, martial arts and motorcycles".

The production has been put together by Feld Entertainment, the company behind Disney on Ice, the Ringling Bros and the Barnum & Bailey Circus and is a "disorienting, thought-provoking, deeply postmodern entertainment experience, even though it aims to be none of those things", says Vulture . "All of that said, this freewheeling inter-universal mishmash can lead to a few moments of transcendence for a superhero addict."

What is it about?

The plot centres on the "familiar source of power known as the Tesseract", says the Toronto Star . "Loki concocts an evil plan to rule the Earth with the aid of some of the Avengers’ greatest nemeses. Will the bad guy win, or will our heroes prevail in humanity’s latest darkest hour?"

Is it any good?

Marvel Universe Live is geared more for the eight-year-old fan than the 28-year-old one, says the Tampa Bay Times . This may be so, argues Geek Dad , but "I'm happy to have had my two hours with the Avengers [and] while there were some cheesy moments, there was a nice balance of… really awesome moments too".

Standard tickets for Marvel Universe Live are on sale now from the Marvel Universe live website and Ticketmaster and cost between £28.83 and £56.95 per person.

Following a hugely successful first tour, Marvel Universe LIVE! is back with a brand new show featuring more than 20 of your favourite marvel super heroes and villains for 2019.

In this all-new production, produced by Feld Entertainment, Spider-Man, The Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy will join forces with Doctor Strange – the master of the mystic arts – as they do battle against Loki.

Marvel Universe LIVE! Age Of Heroes brings beloved comic book characters to life on stage in a show stuffed with pyrotechnics, aerial stunts and martial arts.

Some of the greatest superheroes including Iron Man, Captain America, Black Panther and Black Widow team together to take on Marvel’s most threatening villains, in an attempt to defend the universe from evil.

Even during a summer as full of great Marvel action as this one, fans hunger for the adventures of the best and brightest heroes and most dangerous and dastardly villains—and “ Marvel Universe LIVE : Age of Heroes” satisfies that appetite like nothing else! Some celebrities and their families even came out to watch the show roll through Los Angeles on a tour that includes stops in Salt Lake City, Cleveland, and Chicago.

Drawn together by the call of Doctor Strange and the machinations of Nebula, the show features over 20 Marvel heroes and villains including—for the time in Marvel Universe LIVE! history—the Guardians of the Galaxy!

Featuring incredible stunts (including Spider-Man joining The Wasp to command the skies and Captain America boggling the mind on a motorcycle), amazing live special effects, and stunning video projection, the audience rides along on an adventure that takes them from the Savage Land to New York City with a staggering list of locales in-between!

“Marvel Universe LIVE: Age of Heroes” sees the bitter and rageful Nebula called on by Loki to steal the Wand of Watoomb in a plan that proves so dangerous that only the combined forces of the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and Spider-Man stand a chance of saving our planet and, perhaps, the universe at large.

Currently in California for all of August, the tour spreads out across the rest of the United States before ending in Missouri at the end of December 2018. “Marvel Universe LIVE: Age of Heroes” offers plenty of chances for fans across the US to see the spectacular adventure live for more than a year. Tickets for 2017 are available now and many 2018 dates will be available for purchase in September.

The Tour Championship is in full swing.

Four-time world champion Mark Selby crashed out of the competition on Tuesday (2nd April), falling to a 10-8 defeat to Gary Wilson in Manchester.

Wilson will play China’s Zhang Anda in quarter-finals of the Tour Championship today.

Meanwhile, Ali Carter will face rival Ronnie O’Sullivan in the quarter-finals after defeating Barry Hawkins on Tuesday.

O'Sullivan and Judd Trump are among the four players handed a bye through the first round due to their ranking, and won't begin their quests until Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.

THE Tour Championship is well underway with the world's top players desperate to head to the Crucible in top form.

Ronnie O'Sullivan absolutely destroyed rival Ali Carter in the first session of their quarter-final, as he leads by six frames. The rest of their clash is set to resume at 7pm.

The tournament in Manchester is giving players the opportunity to polish their game ahead of the World Snooker Championships .

Ali Carter trails Ronnie O'Sullivan 7-1 despite a brilliant 141 break to take the last frame of the afternoon session.

When play resumes at 7pm, the Rocket will need just three more frames to reach the Tour Championship semi-finals.

Ronnie O’Sullivan’s emphatic lead over Ali Carter contrasts with his pre-tournament mood.

The Rocket has been questioning why he’s “not feeing good” as he prepares to bid for a record eighth world title from April 20.

O’Sullivan and Stephen Henry are tied on seven crowns apiece.

And the Rocket is also targeting a Triple Crown – having already won both the UK Championship and Masters crowns eight times in all.

But he said: “I’m trying to figure out why I’m not feeling good when I’m out there.

“I’m winning and I’m competing, but I’m not striking the ball well.

“It’s hard when you’re playing matches against really good players all the time and competing for ranking points. 

“Sometimes you don’t relax enough. I need to figure out a way to find my game again and I think that’s playing more exhibitions.”

Disney is licensing a number of its original series to BBC Studios-owned broadcaster UKTV .

Among the shows that are set to appear on UKTV networks are Anne Frank drama “A Small Light” and all seven seasons of “Sons of Anarchy.”

“A Small Light” is heading to UKTV’s free to air network Drama in May while the complete series of “Brothers and Sisters” will go to UKTV Play this spring followed by “Sons of Anarchy” in the summer.

UKTV’s crime channel Alibi will also screen “Alaska Daily” and “The Company You Keep” this summer while sister network Dave will get Mike Tyson-inspired biopic “Mike” later in the year.

Disney’s position on licensing out its content has shifted substantially in the four years since Disney+ first launched, reflecting the changing landscape. Last November Disney inked a deal with U.K. broadcaster-owned streamer ITVX for shows including “Extraordinary” and “Under the Banner of Heaven” heading to the platform. “Extraordinary” also got a linear transmission on ITV as part of the deal.

All the shows under both deals will continue to be available on Disney’s proprietary streaming platform Disney+ in the U.K.

Since Bob Iger returned to Disney in 2022 he has indicated that with streaming underperforming in terms of financial returns, he is returning to past distribution models, both in terms of theatrical releases and television syndication.

“The streaming business, which I believe is the future and has been growing, is not delivering basically the kind of profitability or bottom line results that the linear business delivered for us over a few decades,” he said during an earnings call last year.

While previously Wall Street was prepared to swallow below-par financial results on the basis they were an investment in the future, the Netflix correction of 2022 effectively put an end to that, with some streamers no longer prepared to rely solely on subscribers to drive revenue.

As Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s relationship continues to go strong, Kelce is getting ready to put on his second annual music festival at the home of his football team: Kansas City, Missouri. Ahead of the festival, which is set to be headlined by Lil Wayne and Diplo this May, the Chiefs football star was asked about how watching Taylor Swift ’s Eras Tour may have affected his own live music event. His answer was solid! 

Travis Kelce first started his own music festival, Kelce Jam, last April with Machine Gun Kelly , Loud Luxury, and Rick Ross as headliners. As he gets ready to put it on for the second year in a row, he talked about Taylor Swift’s influence on the live event. In his words: 

I did: Don’t try and be Taylor, that’s what I learned. Yeah, she’s on a whole other stratosphere. She’s the best at what she does for a reason. It’s because she’s so articulate and just very dialed into every single thing that she does. And that’s the beauty of it. I’d be silly if I ever tried to take anything from what she does, other than just enjoy the people that show up. I think that’s one thing I could probably take away: She really relates to the people she’s performing in front of, and so I’ll take that.

While speaking to The Hollywood Reporter , Travis Kelce gave a hilarious answer to clearly avoid comparisons between his own place in the music space and hers. The tight end shared that he thinks it’d be “silly” for him to really take anything from her own place in the music world, because it is sitting on a whole other level than anyone else as is. However, he did go on to say that he definitely wants to learn from Swift’s joy on stage when it comes to enjoying the people who come to her events, so there’s that. 

Travis Kelce may be hosting his own live event with Kelce Jam, but he’s certainly not doing the same job Taylor Swift does during one of her nights at the Eras Tour, which is a sprawling four-hour show that takes fans through over 15 years of her music career. On a typical night at the Eras tour, around 70 thousand fans are screaming back the lyrics to Swift. On the flipside, Kelce Jam’s inaugural festival welcomed 20,000 fans. 

Sorry Travis Kelce, A New High-Profile Boyfriend Has Been Making Headlines At The Eras Tour

I think Travis Kelce is smart not to compare the two given the phenomenon of the Eras Tour. Taylor Swift’s viral tour is reportedly the highest-grossing concert tour of all time , and its success spawned the Eras Tour movie , which is now streaming with a Disney+ subscription following breaking box office records upon its theatrical release in October. 

After Swift spent the better part of 2023 on the road playing Eras Tour shows, she is taking on more dates across the globe this year. She has played 17 shows thus far, and will pick back up in Portugal this May before going to England, Poland, Austria, the U.S., and Canada. 

Following Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs winning the Super Bowl earlier this year, the football player has been attending more and more Eras Tour shows. Recently the couple took a vacation to the Bahamas and were seen in Los Angeles and are reportedly “soaking up their downtime together.”
