Manchester United Stadium Tour Review & Guide

manchester united tours contact number

Welcome to Old Trafford.

As  Manchester United fans, visiting Old Trafford is always on our bucket list. That dream came during our holiday trip to the UK with an Old Trafford Stadium Tour.

How to book the Manchester United Old Trafford Stadium and Museum Tour?

An Old Trafford Stadium and Museum Tour can be easily booked from the  Manchester United Website . Unlike other stadium tours that allow walk-ins, a Manchester United Stadium Tour requires pre-booking when you purchase the tickets. You would also have access to the Museum. Thus, we recommend either arriving 30-45 minutes earlier to enjoy the Museum or visiting it after the stadium tour.

There are different tour options to choose from. We decided on a 70-minute standard Stadium Tour with an additional meal option. The cost starts from £20 for a child and £36 for an adult. Additional meals at the Red Cafe cost £7.5 and £12.5 more, respectively, for children and adults.

How to Get to Old Trafford from London?

From London to Manchester

Most fans would make their way from London to Manchester for this tour. It is possible to take a day trip to visit the Stadium and return to London. Add another day to watch a live match at the Stadium if possible.

The easiest way is to book a train ride on Avanti West Coast. The departure is from Euston train station, located a few minutes from Euston Tube. We recommend booking online to secure your ride. The train ride takes slightly over 2 hours and is usually on time. Leave on the earliest train before 8am if you are planning a day trip.

Getting to Old Trafford

Take the tram (purple line) from Picadilly with a stop at Old Trafford Picket Ground. Tickets can be bought at the station. After that, it is a 10-12 minute straight walk along Brian Statham Way.

Along this route, you would pass by Old Trafford Stadium Hotel with an impressive Manchester United Logo Wall Mural.

Look out for a tribute mural to Sir Bobby Charlton, too.

Old Trafford: Theatre of Dreams

Before you start your tour, you must savour the moment you step onto the stadium grounds. You would have recognised the silhouette from afar if you had watched enough matches.

In front of the Stadium is the Unity Trinity Stadium featuring Best, Law and Charlton. If you are a true fan, you would recognise these legends. All three have won the Ballon d'Or in the 60s.

Manchester United Stadium Tour:  Where to Start?

Head to Sir Alex Ferguson's reception desk. This is located to the right of the Stadium ( facing the Stadium from the front). Do remember to print your tickets for this tour.

Here, you will collect your free lanyards and take the lifts or escalators to the Museum on level 3. Explore the Museum and meet on level 1 of the Museum 5 minutes before the tour. Your tour guide will be waiting for you in the open space. Since this is a guided tour with fixed timing, arrive on time!

Highlights of Old Trafford Stadium Tour

We started the tour at Sir Alex Ferguson's Stand.

Directly facing us is the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand. With a capacity of 74,310, Old Trafford is the 3rd largest Stadium in the UK. Clad in red, it is a sight to behold. Despite its capacity, it appears smaller than expected. This size gives the spectator an intimate experience as you are close to the football field.

Our eyes are focused on the infamous Stretford End.

The Inside of the Stadium

Next, we headed inside and passed by tributes to Sir Alex Ferguson. A true red fan would understand his contribution to Manchester United's fame and popularity.

Along the way, there were tributes to various players and the great goals scored.

Best View of the Football Field

We emerged at another corner of the Stadium.

This section has the best view of the Stadium, facing the famous Stretford End and Sir Alex Ferguson Stand with Manchester United written across the seats.

Dressing Room

It's back inside the Stadium.

On our way to the Stadium, we passed by the old tunnel that was once the entrance to the field of the old Stadium.

For this stadium tour, we were lucky and saw the actual dressing room. While it is smaller than other stadiums, the aura from it is simply awesome from a fan's perspective.

Tunnel Walk

Another highlight will be the tunnel walk. Adults will line up at the side, while kids will be in line to walk through the tunnel with stadium noises pipe in. Very cool for kids

It's a walk to the Dugout to sit in the same seats where players and coaches sit during the match!

Press Conference

It's a quick stop at the press conference. We are not allowed to take photos of ourselves, but you can opt for the in-house photographer to take one for you.

The last stop is the Megastore.

Here, you can collect your personalised certificate while picking up a souvenir. Each purchase comes with an exclusive Old Trafford Paper Bag.

If you do not have time to visit the Museum before your tour, you can still do so after it (provided you did not take the last tour).  It is a must-visit for fans.

From the massive trophy room to a room dedicated to the Munich Disaster, any true red devil would appreciate the history behind this. This is among the best Stadium Museums for its history and trophies in the UK.

You might get your hands on old match programme copies for free.

The last stop was Red Cafe, located next to the Museum. Our package comes with a meal and a choice of soft drink, tea or coffee. We highly recommend you add this to the package for the experience.

We opted for OT Burger for our meal. If you have a kid, the option will be from the Little Devil's Menu instead. Meals are in smaller portions for kids.

When you are there, check out the back of the chair. You might find your favourite player's name printed on it.

As a fan, a visit to Old Trafford is a must. While getting there may seem daunting initially, it was much easier than expected.

It would have been icing on the cake if we had caught a home match and had first-hand experience of Old Trafford's atmosphere. That may be an excuse to be back in the future!

It has been four years since I last participated in the Manchester United Museum and Tour, but it was great to be back. The tour guides are part of the woodwork, and Manchester United through and though. they are full of insight and personal knowledge. True embodiment of fans. It is always great to see the clubs history, memorabilia, and the many many trophies won over the years, but it is truly magnificent to see everything on display. Weaving in and out, and around the stadium, you get a full understanding of the magnitude of the club and stadium. The best part is walking out to the pitch (obviously without stepping on the pitch, but veering to one side towards the Manager's dugout). What's new: An exhibit dedicated to Ryan Giggs. Brilliant! The tour ends with a little VT of United's success, and I am not ashamed to say that it brought a tear to my eye. (I look forward to those days returning :)) This tour is great for fans, but it is also great for visitors. If in Manchester, visit Old Trafford, the Theatre of Dreams.

The guy at the front was very nice to me and very respectful. He provided great service and seemed like he was very hardworking guy but he smelled like poop but it okay i guess he just needs to take a shower next time. I think his name started with an. E

Here for a meeting with Museum staff to discuss making the experience a better one for people with Autism. The staff are really keen and quite excited about this. The stadium is magnificent and the Red Cafe is an an excellent place for refreshments. Well worth a day out for all the family.

We took our kids to Old Trafford for the Annual Youth Thing were the A team come and train for an hour and Alex Ferguson talks to the crowd etc. Brilliant. After that fantastic morning (and I'm a Cov City fan!!) we went for a walk round the United museum which was fascinating. From their early origins, the Munich air disaster, and all the great players and managers (and Ron Atkinson) they've had in their long and successful history. The information boards are interesting enough for kids aswell and the trophy room takes your breath away. Halfway round you can pay a little bit extra and have your photo taken with the Premiership trophy and the Champions League trophy which was awesome. On the way out is a long wall that has all the names of all the players that have ever played for the club - very impressive. Definately a great day out whoever you support.

Well....to be honest, my Interest in the auld game of soccer is minimal!! But I swallowed that to bring my football crazy son to Old Trafford to view the "Theatre of Dreams". I booked online and was pleasantly surprised that under 5 were free....therefore I only had to pay for me. From arrival to the end, it was all very accessible...the information was plentiful and the staff ever so friendly. The tour guide was really good and it was great that they often took the p!$$ outta of the team/club and players....all in good fun. The stadium (which holds 76,000) didn't look as big as I'd imagined, it all felt a little cramped in comparison to Croker! The museum was full of old trophies and jersey's of old players. The café was nice, clean and expensive! The tour, like all good tours....ends in the Mega gift shop. It's nice to look around but the gear is so overpriced and with a happy, eager little boy with me....it's hard to say no. Just make sure to bring plenty of money ££££ with you!! The only thing I think lacked on this tour....(having done these types of tours before)....is history. It was all about the stadium but little on the history. Would have liked to hear more about that!!

Manchester United to welcome visitors back to its Old Trafford Tour & Museum as Trafford reopens

manchester united tours contact number

Manchester United is pleased to confirm that its  Old Trafford Tour & Museum  will reopen to visitors this Spring in line with the UK government’s easing of lockdown measures.

The popular attractions are due to reopen on Monday 17th May after more than a year of closures and disruption due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Bookings are now being taken for the Old Trafford Tour & Museum from 17th May, giving visitors the chance to step inside Old Trafford and experience the history and magic of the Theatre of Dreams.

The Red Café, in the heart of the Sir Alex Ferguson stand, is also due to reopen for food and drink from 17th May and fans will be able to visit the club’s renowned Megastore, which is set to reopen its doors on Monday 12th April.

Collette Roche, Chief Operating Officer, Manchester United, said: “We can’t wait to welcome visitors back to Old Trafford and, while we won’t be happy until fans are in the stands again for matches, the reopening of our non-matchday visitor attractions is an important step towards normalisation.”

A range of measures will be in place across the Old Trafford Tour & Museum, Red Café and Megastore to ensure that visitors can enjoy their experience of Old Trafford while keeping themselves and staff safe.

Manchester United has received certification from The National Tourist Organisations of Great Britain and Northern Ireland confirming that its attractions follow government and industry Covid-19 guidelines, including measures to maintain cleanliness and aid social distancing.

Old Trafford Tour & Museum provides an enthralling experience exploring the triumphs and tragedy of Manchester United’s 143-year history through thousands of unique exhibits in the club Museum, followed by a tour of England’s largest club football stadium. The tour includes the players’ tunnel, the manager’s dugout and a walk alongside the world-famous pitch.

Groups will be limited to 15 people until 21st June to allow for social distancing. All dates are based on the government’s current timetable for the easing of lockdown measures and are subject to review.

Adult prices are from £25 and juniors/concessions from £18 when booked online, with additional discounts available for education groups. Advanced bookings are strongly recommended and can be made here, or by calling the Contact Centre on +44 161 676 7770.

Review | Manchester United Museum & Stadium Tour! How Good is it?

Categories England , Manchester , U.K

Manchester United and Old Trafford are one of the most famous teams and stadiums in the world, so it’s pretty cool that you can really easily book and go on an Old Trafford Stadium Tour and visit the Manchester United Museum.

In fact, doing a tour of Manchester United stadium is probably even easier than you think, they literally have time slots available all day when matches are not on and the tickets are not that expensive either.

I went recently with my stepsons who are 6 & 8 and we had a great time! I realised I couldn’t move to Manchester and not visit the legendary Manchester United Stadium and even as a non-supporter (although I left feeling like a supporter), I had goosebumps throughout because of all that we saw on the Man Utd Stadium Tour.

So let me tell you how to book a Manchester United stadium tour, the Old Trafford tour price, what to expect from a Man Utd tour and answer the question ‘is a Manchester United Tour good?’

Manchester United Tour Tickets

Let’s start with how to get Manchester Utd tour tickets and how much they cost! Luckily, they are easier to get than match tickets!

I booked our tickets through Get Your Guide which is a booking platform I use a lot and trust!

Booking these tickets makes it really easy to check stadium tour availability by each day and time, they don’t charge any extra, AND you get free cancellation up to 24 hours before you book which is really helpful!

Manchester United Tour Ticket Prices:

Adult: £27.00

Child 5-15: £15.00

Child 4 & under: Free

Senior 65+: £15.00

Check out available dates for your tour here and get the best ticket price!

What does the Manchester United Tour Ticket include?

The ticket gives access to the Manchester United Museum which you can visit in your own time, and it gives you a 70-minute tour of the stadium with a guide .

Souvenir wise, you are given a branded lanyard when you show your tickets where the ticket goes inside, this can be taken home with you and therefore acts as a bit of a free souvenir .

Manchester United Stadium Tour, ticket and lanyard

What To Expect from an Old Trafford Stadium Tour

When you book your ticket online you’ll get an email confirmation to say you must get there 30 minutes before the start time , this is something to keep in mind when planning your Manchester day out!

The reason you are asked to get there early is mainly so you have time to visit the museum before the tour starts and the time you book the tour for is the time your group guided tour starts.

If you don’t get there just on time, then you can do the guided tour and visit the museum at the end.

Manchester United Stadium Tour, Stadium Entrance

Manchester United Stadium Tour Parking

The only car park at Old Trafford Stadium open on non-match days is East Car Park E2 ( google maps location here ) so you have to head here. When I visited it the entrance was manned, the super friendly guys told me where to park and there are plenty of disabled access spaces.

The car park is at the front of the stadium and where the Megastore is located.

Manchester United Stadium Tour, E2 car park stadium entrance

To get to the museum and where the guided Manchester United tour starts you follow the path around to the right, following the arrow signs to the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand Entrance .

Manchester United Stadium Tour, Path to Sir Alex Ferguson Stand

Here you’ll get a security scan, queue up inside, show your online ticket and be given a paper ticket and lanyard.

Then you go upstairs towards the Man Utd Museum and by Red Cafe at Old Trafford which is a great place to go back to after the tour has finished.

Manchester United Stadium Tour, Red Cafe Entrance

Manchester United Museum

In order to get to where the Manchester Stadium tour starts you have to go through the museum. This is why you’ll get email confirmation telling you to get to the stadium 30 minutes before your ticket time because the time on your ticket is the literal time your guided tour starts you need to be at the end of the museum and meet your guide.

As we entered the museum we could choose to get a photo with a green screen background which could then be purchased at the end.

This was pretty cool as at the end of the tour in the Megastore you can see the photo and pick the different backgrounds , there was a sunset stadium background, normal stadium background and you could choose which player was next to you, of course, we had to get a photo with Ronaldo printed!

Manchester United Stadium Tour, Museum

Walking through the museum doesn’t take long but if you don’t have time or want to spend more time looking, you can return at the end of the tour as there are no time restrictions on access to Old Trafford Museum.

The museum is really interesting though and you should give yourself at least 20 minutes to look around.

Ready to check availability and book tickets? Do it here!

Manchester United Stadium Tour

Tours start every 10-15 minutes and staff will be calling your ticket time so make sure you listen out and head to the end of the museum which is downstairs. Then go to the counter and collect a multimedia device for each person which had a lanyard to go around our necks.

This is used at various points on the tour to watch a video or read more about where you are, this is especially good for visitors who do not understand English well and can’t understand what the guide is saying as the multimedia device can be set in multiple languages. Or those hard at hearing who can’t hear the guide.

Manchester United Stadium Tour, Multimedia guide

Our group was pretty big at about 20 people but it never felt too big.

Our guide introduced himself to start off the 70-minute tour and told us a bit about what to expect from the tour and the multimedia devices. We had 2 guides , one who stayed at the front and did all of the explaining and another who stayed at the back to ensure we all stayed together, both were available to chat to as we walked around the stadium from place to place.

Manchester United Stadium Tour, start of tour in stadium

To start the tour off properly we went up into the stadium , this is where the multimedia devices were really cool and this was probably their best use. Of course, the stadium was empty but with the devices, it showed what it looks like busy and it followed the stadium as we moved the device around to different parts of the stadium.

Manchester United Stadium Tour, multimedia guide showing stadium full

We went back inside and to be honest, we did spend a fair amount of time inside the stadium walking under the seats to get to another part of the stadium. Definitely keep this in mind if you have small children with you who don’t like walking much.

Manchester United Stadium Tour, walking inside stadium

We had some good photo opportunities and the first one started as we were in the corner of the stadium where the disabled seating is, this spot gives a really great corner view of the stadium and there is plenty of space to spread out and get photos with no one in the background.

Manchester United Stadium Tour, corner photo of pitch

We went back inside again and walked for a while and this is when we got to probably the best bit of the tour – the changing rooms !

It was really cool to be in a part of the stadium where usually only the players go and seeing all of the shirts in the changing rooms was definitely a highlight.

We had plenty of time in here to take photos and everyone was really good at queuing for the seats, of course, Ronaldo was a popular one, and let each other take photos. It was busy in the room with all of us in but not too bad.

Manchester United Stadium Tour, inside players changing room

We walked out the way the players would to the tunnel . This was the most interactive part of the tour because the guide got all the kids to line up in 2 lines and the parents/adults to start on the side and then we clapped them out onto the edge of the pitch.

Some of the kids on my tour were really big football fans and they loved this.

Manchester United Stadium Tour, inside players tunnel

At the end of the tunnel, we got to start right by the pitch in the corner which was the corner between the West Stand and Sir Bobby Charlton Stand and again take some photos, these photos were better because we had the grass right behind us.

Then, we walked up the side of the pitch to the dugout , we were allowed to sit on the manager’s seats which was also a very cool and unique opportunity.

I also loved seeing the pitch front on from this level and got some great photos.

Manchester United Stadium Tour, walking up side of pitch on tour

Down the side of the dugout, we walked to the media and press room , again this was another cool opportunity and we could sit at the media table and have photos taken, except this photo had to be done by somewhere working there and the photo had to be purchased .

This was the only part of the tour where we were restricted from taking a photo which I think is fair and it’s really good there were no other photo restrictions on the Old Trafford stadium tour.

Manchester United Stadium Tour, media room

After this, we headed back inside and the tour ended outside the Megastore which is also the gift shop and where you can purchase the photo that was taken on arrival to the museum.

Red Cafe at Old Trafford

After we finished the tour we headed back round to the Sir Alex Ferguson stand and went to the Red Cafe at Old Trafford.

There are 2 parts to this , there’s a cafe as you walk in selling drinks and some snack food like cakes and crisps and then there is a sit-down restaurant . This was quite busy when we got there at lunchtime in the school holidays but it’s definitely a cool way to end a memorable visit to Manchester United Stadium!

Manchester United Stadium Tour, inside Red Cafe at Old Trafford

Overall thoughts and review

I honestly really loved it, even as someone who hasn’t been into football for years I got chills and goosebumps just seeing and hearing how big this club is. I loved the museum for seeing the names of older players and the guide told us a lot about past players too, and then my stepsons loved it for seeing the names of the current players.

We started the tour at the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand and went all the way around to the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand so we did see a lot including the changing rooms, tunnel, dugout and media room.

My brother who is a big football fan told me he was so jealous of me going on the Manchester United stadium tour and it made me think that many people might not realise just how easy and accessible it really is to do which is why I wanted to write this post and tell you because it’s not hard to book at all and there is a lot of availability.

The only downside I’d say is that of course, you can’t go on the pitch, which might be disappointing for some and also that there is a lot of walking between corridors and through the areas under the seats so that’s just something to keep in mind if you have difficulty walking or have young children.

I hope this review and recap has helped you decide what to expect from a Manchester United Stadium Tour, and that you should book tickets for an Old Trafford tour here!

Manchester united usa tour 2024: schedule, tickets, stadiums and more, share this article.

For the second straight year, Manchester United will conduct a preseason tour of the United States.

The Red Devils won’t be alone, with high-profile Premier League clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool coming to the U.S. ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.

“The popularity of English football is continuously growing in the U.S., and we’ve come to expect passionate and enthusiastic support from our U.S. fan base,” said the club’s football director John Murtough. “They didn’t disappoint last year and everyone at the club is looking forward to reconnecting with those fans again this summer.”

So far, the club has confirmed three matches for this tour: a clash with Arsenal at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on July 27, a July 31 match with Real Betis in San Diego, and an August 3 game against Liverpool at Williams-Brice Stadium — the home of the University of South Carolina football team — in Columbia, South Carolina.
