The Best Wrinkle-Free Women’s Clothes for Travel, According to Frequent Fliers

Relaxed Air Travel

You’ve tried packing cubes and rolling your shirts up Marie Kondo –style and yet, most likely, all your clothes still come out of your suitcase wrinkled when you reach your destination. Or maybe you have an important meeting right after landing , and your once-polished outfit looks rumpled after hours in economy . Like other travel dilemmas — finding a bag that’ll fit under the seat in front of you or trying to sleep on a transcontinental flight — arriving with a suitcase full of wrinkly clothes can be solved. To avoid pricey hotel dry-cleaning services, or risky sessions with your in-room ironing board, we asked nine women in the travel business to recommend the best pieces to wear and pack while you’re away.

Best wrinkle-free pants for travel

Eileen Fisher Ankle Length Straight Pants with Gathered Waist

For travel pants that are comfortable, stylish and low-maintenance, Jeralyn Gerba, co-founder and editorial director of Fathom , likes easy pieces from Eileen Fisher . “She’s known for researching and developing materials that are responsible, sustainable, and high-performance while also being crazy chic,” says Gerba. “I love her uncrushable Tencel, a tree fiber textile produced with near zero waste — the drawstring pants and blazers look really good after long-haul flights.” The adjustable drawstring allows for in-flight comfort while the textured crepe lends them a sophisticated look.

Athleta Skyline Pant

A similar pair at a lower price point, these slim, drawstring pants are a favorite of Sarah Corsa, a trip designer at Journy . She likes that they’re “lightweight and rarely wrinkle.” Gerba also looks to Athleta for “casual basics with the occasional flair,” and says their athleisure pieces offer “a nice alternative to the straight-up sweats uniform” while traveling.

Outdoor Voices RecTrek Pant

Outdoor Voices, makers of our favorite “sleek and tailored” sweatpants, are another frequent flier go-to for easy-to-wear pieces that’ll look fresh after a long journey. Journy co-founder Leiti Hsu, calls the RekTrek pants “the ultimate in comfort.” She says they “stay crisp from laundry cycle to laundry cycle” and “look way more pulled-together than yoga pants.”

The Row Tao Straight-Leg Stretch-Cotton Pants

“I have a few pairs of stretchy but tailored trousers from The Row that are incredibly comfortable and easy to pack,” says Jen Rubio, co-founder and chief-brand officer of Away . They’ll give an outfit more polish than a jogger-type pant while still being wrinkle-resistant and non-constricting on long flights. Rubio says she’ll pair hers with a T-shirt and leather jacket.

Betabrand Dress Pant Yoga Pants

Based in San Francisco, the clothing start-up Betabrand sells pieces based on crowd-sourced designs, like these trouser-style pants that come highly recommended by Larissa Hayden, deputy director of events at Atlas Obscura . She likes that they’re crafted “with comfort, durability, and professionalism in mind,” and have all the comfort of stretchy sweats.

Best wrinkle-free leggings for travel

American Eagle High-Waisted Jegging

If you’d rather go the leggings route, Melissa Hie of Girl Eat World swears these jeggings “look exactly like jeans but are very stretchy and comfortable like leggings.” She says, “I would just pair this with a comfortable button-up shirt if I need to look somewhat put together straight off the plane.”

Calzedonia Thermal Leather-Effect Leggings

For leggings that can be dressed up, Hsu likes this expensive-looking (but actually quite affordable) faux -leather pair. “Tuck them in your carry-on for a sexy go-to that [can go from] day to dinner in any city,” she says. “They’re secretly lined with cozy fleece on the inside; all the better to brave your next winter dining adventure.”

Best wrinkle-free tops for travel

Uniqlo Rayon Long-Sleeve Blouse

Travelers love Uniqlo’s affordable and durable pieces for comfort and style. Hie says their button-downs are perfect for wearing with leggings to easily look put-together. And while she normally prefers natural fabrics, when it comes to travel she says, “I go with polyester-blend fabrics since they don’t wrinkle as much.” Like polyester, rayon is far more wrinkle-resistant than cotton or linen.

Loft Ruffle Henley Utility Blouse

Also polyester, but with a silky feel and sweet ruffle details, this packable top is one of Corsa’s favorites. “It can be worn in basically any climate, for tons of occasions,” she says. “It never wrinkles and still looks new after years.”

Uniqlo Heattech Turtleneck Long-Sleeve T-Shirt

Gerba calls Uniqlo’s warming Heattech turtleneck, an essential layering piece for cold-weather travel or even ice-cold planes, “basic, but solid.” In warmer climates, Stephanie Park, co-founder and vice-president of operations at Journy, likes the brand’s AIRism line. “Not only do the breathable base layers release heat and moisture to adapt to different weather conditions, but they also remain remarkably wrinkle-free, even after long flights,” she says.

Theory Bringam Crepe Top

According to Rubio, Theory’s “crepe knits will never wrinkle, no matter how much of an overpacker you are,” which is good news if you need to look professional right after a red-eye flight.

Best wrinkle-free dresses for travel

Love, Bonito Reiley A-Line Dress

Simple, packable slip dresses were called out by several travelers as highly versatile items. Hie opts for colorful ones from Singapore-based, women-founded brand Love, Bonito. “They are made out of a polyester blend and [don’t] t get wrinkled even if they are straight out of the suitcase,” she says. “I love them because they are very basic, which means I can pair them with accessories to dress them up or down.”

Nili Lotan Silk Slipdress

Rubio counts her black Nili Lotan slip dress as ones of her perfect travel pieces that’s “practical and comfortable, yet stylish and versatile so that my look can easily transition from day to night.” She’ll wear it with a blazer and loafers on the plane, and switch to boots once she lands. And while it may seem like a fussy pick, Gerba says she frequently packs silk because “it looks good, weighs nothing, and its wrinkles fall out easily.”

Everlane Japanese GoWeave Tank Wrap Dress

For a fraction of the price, Journy trip designer Lauren Witte likes this bright Everlane wrap dress which, she says, is also “made out of wrinkle-resistant fabric,” and can work for both casual and dressier events.

Wolford Asymmetric Dress

If slip dresses aren’t your style, Hsu says she’s “obsessed with Wolford’s selection of stretchy dresses that roll up almost as tiny as hosiery.” Since it takes up barely any space she says they’re the ideal “just-in-case” dresses to pack if the need to dress up arises, and she calls her simple, black sheath “a lifesaver.”

Best wrinkle-free layers for travel

Eileen Fisher Stand-Collar Open Blazer

Like the Eileen Fisher pants recommended by Gerba, this blazer is made of Tencel and can withstand long flights and not-so-tidy packing. Plus, as several of our travel pros noted, blazers play well with basics like lightweight tops and cami dresses, giving you some mix-and-match outfits for your journey without having to overpack.

Loro Piana Cashmere Fringe-Trim Opera Stole

“A black versatile cashmere wrap is a must-have for my busy travel schedule,” says Elizabeth Fuller, director of marketing and partnerships at Black Tomato . “It doubles as a blanket on a chilly flight and won’t wrinkle if you stow it in your carry on to go through security.” She likes the very elegant. fringed Loro Piano version, but if you’re on a budget, the under-$100 silk-blended wrap from cashmere startup Naadam will also do the trick.

Reformation Cashmere Boyfriend Sweater

Like Fuller, Hsu thinks quality cashmere is a worthwhile travel investment. “Compared with other fabrics, cashmere doesn’t require washing all that often and is naturally temperature moderating,” she says, making it a natural fit for an on-the-go lifestyle. Her favorites are classic cuts with unique details from brands like Reformation and Rag & Bone .

travel clothes that don't wrinkle

Need a fancier-yet-cozy travel dress? Forget steaming it in the vacation rental’s bathroom while you shower, or using the hotel room iron. Prana Brion Pant

travel clothes that don't wrinkle

travel clothes that don't wrinkle

Your lowest-maintenance clothing doesn't have to look it. Especially when you're traveling on business or for an important occasion, the best wrinkle-free travel clothes can prioritize fashion and practicality without the need for constant pressing. Instead, they come out of your suitcase looking like they just came out of the dryer.

For the most part, wrinkle-resistance comes down to fabric choice and construction methods. Unfortunately, most thin natural materials wrinkle easily (like linen, cotton, and silk ), while most synthetic fabrics don't — namely polyester, spandex, nylon, and rayon.

That said, if you're set on wearing natural materials, wool and cashmere are good choices because they're thicker, so they resist creasing and flatten out quickly. Cotton and rayon can also occasionally resist wrinkles when they're treated, blended with a synthetic fabric, or when they're constructed using tighter manufacturing weaves . (Think denim versus muslin. Both are typically made using cotton, but denim is much more resilient, while muslin is both delicate and prone to wrinkles.)

While specific pieces may be marketed as wrinkle-resistant, the vast majority won't be, which can make shopping for travel-friendly clothes a bit more challenging — especially online. Luckily, reviewers will be quick to disclose the fabric's resilience and ease of wear, so a deep-dive into the comments section can offer tons of insights.

If you're in a rush to book your flight or get on the road, these are some of the most popular pieces available when it comes to both style and wrinkle-resistance.

How to Keep Your Clothes Wrinkle-Free While Traveling

E ven if your travel style is outdoorsy rather than businessy, or casual rather than luxurious, it’s always a good idea to pack dress-up clothes. After all, you never know when you’ll want to go to an elegant restaurant, be invited to a semi-formal event, or need to make a good impression on a stranger. But there’s very little point in packing a pair of slacks, a button-down shirt, or a cocktail dress if they are going to be wrinkly — all you’ll manage is to look unkempt. With some affordable gear and smart tips, however, it’s easy to have wrinkle-free travel clothes, even if you don’t have an iron handy.

We hope you love the products we recommend! Just so you know, Matador may collect a small commission from the links on this page if you decide to make a purchase. Listed prices are accurate as of the time of publication.

All the gear you need to keep you clothes winkle-free when you travel

There are only two ways to ensure wrinkle-free travel clothes: Elbow grease and buying the right gear. Perfectly smooth clothing does not magically come out of your luggage — you have to work for it, i.e. iron everything before and after packing it. But what if you’re staying somewhere where there’s no iron? Or what if you don’t want to waste your precious time away ironing out every crease in your garments? While ironing your clothes is non negotiable before packing your bags, if you want winkle-free travel clothes, you don’t have to go at it again if you own the right stuff.

Get yourself a garment bag

View this post on Instagram   A post shared by NOMATIC (@nomatic)

Garment bags allow your ironed clothes to hang rather than being folded, preventing wrinkles. However, because garment bags do fold in half to be more easily transportable, know that there may be a few creases in your clothes once you arrive at your destination. Those few creases are usually very minimal and should be easily remedied by some of the tips listed further below.

The key to picking a good garment bag is to first look at its size. Garment bags can be used as carry-on luggage or personal items as long as they don’t exceed the maximum dimensions required by airlines. You also want to make sure that the bag is large enough to carry your clothes and other items like shoes, belts, etc. After all, if it takes the spot of a carry-on in your luggage allowance, it should hold as much as one. Both the Away Garment Bag and the Nomatic Garment Bag are highly reviewed and great value for money. The Away Garment Bag ($195) is soft-sided, can carry two suits or three full-length garments, has multiple pockets, is water resistant, and counts as a personal item. The Nomatic Garment Bag ($149.99) is also soft-sided and water-resistant, has pockets for accessories and shoes, and can contain three suits, or several dresses, shirts/blouses, jackets, and more. For something a little cheaper, smaller, and easier to transport, check out Nomatic’s Apparel Sleeve ($74.99). It holds fewer items that the garment bag of the same brand, but it has multiple pockets for accessories and is water resistant.

Aquire a garment folder

Garment folders help keep your luggage organized, and the items in the folder are nicely compressed so they take less room. A garment folder is very much like a packing cube but for dressier items that need to stay wrinkle-free, like button-down shirts, blouses, and dress pants. The Eagle Creek Pack-It™ Garment Folders are the most popular garment folders on the market. They come in three sizes (M, L, and XL), depending on your needs, and range in price from $25 to $30 and $35. Eagle Creek’s Garment Folders come with a folding board so you can fold all your previously ironed items neatly before packing them. We recommend adding tissue paper between each item to limit wrinkling.

Buy wrinkle-release spray

Downy wrinkle-releaser spray

A good wrinkle-release spray is the easy way to destroy creases with minimal efforts. Just spritz your wrinkled garments with the product until it’s slightly damp, tug at the wrinkles with your hand, and let it dry. The best reviewed wrinkle-release spray on the market is Downy Winkle Releaser , which gets wrinkles out of everything, including jeans and other thick fabrics. A pack of two travel-size Downy Winkle Releaser sprays will only set you back $7.99.

Splurge and purchase a steamer

Conair steamer for crinkle-free travel clothes

Photo: Conair

While travel irons do exist, travel ironing boards don’t, and finding a flat enough surface to take care of a wrinkly dress or button-down shirt is not always possible. A travel steamer is a much easier tool with which to travel since it only requires that you hang your clothes up, and it’s just as good at smoothing out creases as any iron. Also steaming clothes is quick, fun, and satisfying while ironing is a chore that takes for ever. For guaranteed wrinkle-free travel clothes, get yourself the Conair Handheld Garment Steamer (on sale for $59.95 instead of $69.99). This steamer has five settings and three attachments so you can steam just about every item of clothing you own without fear of damaging anything. While it’s not tiny (5.6 x 8 x 13.6 inches, and around 3.6 pounds), it’s small enough to have in your luggage, especially if you have a checked suitcase. For something smaller (3.54 x 2.36 x 7.87 inches, and 1.2 pounds), check out Polardo mini travel steamer . It’s the best-rated travel steamer on Amazon and costs only $39.99.

Tips on how to have wrinkle-free travel clothes

If you don’t want to spend money on the tried-and-tested gear listed above, there are some tricks that may help you on your crease-free clothing quest. Few work as well as using a travel steamer, a garment bag, or wrinkle-remover spray, but they will help you look less frumpy than if you did not use anything.

How to pack clothes so they don’t wrinkle?

The best thing you can do to have wrinkle-free travel clothes is to iron your stuff before you pack it. It goes without saying that an ironed shirt will come out of your bag significantly smoother than one that was never ironed. So get out your ironing board and iron, and smooth all the items of clothing you’ll need before you even start to think about how to fold and pack them.

Once your clothes are ironed, use a folding board to fold them neatly and slide tissue paper around the different parts of each garments. Once done, wrap your clothing individually in plastic bags (keep all your dry cleaner’s bags for that purpose.) Limiting friction between parts of the items of clothing and between various items in your luggage will prevent wrinkling.

But all this work will go to waste if you don’t organize your luggage properly. Make sure to pack your shoes, toiletry kit, and other heavy items at the bottom of your luggage, and keep the delicate, ironed clothes on top so they don’t get smushed by the rest of your belongings.

Does rolling clothes prevent wrinkles?

Rolling clothes is not the best way to keep them wrinkle free, but it is a good way to save space in your luggage (especially if you use packing cubes.) That said, if you roll up your clothes correctly, they will be better looking than if you just toss them randomly in your luggage, so it’s still worth taking the time to do it, especially if you travel with a backpack or duffle bag instead of a suitcase.

First, if you want wrinkle-free travel clothes, you need to iron said clothes before you roll them up. It’s a time-consuming activity, but it’s a step you can’t avoid if you want smooth garments. Next, fold the items lengthways and roll them tightly. If the items are not rolled tightly enough, they are more likely to wrinkle.

Note that the rolling technique works best for casual clothing, and pieces made of synthetic fabric that don’t wrinkle very much to begin with. Don’t roll up a linen suit, or a thin cotton dress, and hope it’ll come out smooth — it won’t.

What is bundle wrapping?

Bundle wrapping consists in folding all your previously ironed clothing items together around a soft but sturdy core, in one big bundle. First, you create a somewhat square core by tightly wrapping a simple t-shirt around all your socks and underwear (they don’t need to be crease-free). Then you lay out all of your clothes flat on top of each other, starting with the largest items, and you deposit the core in the middle. Your next step consists of folding each item around the core one after the other, very tightly, to prevent wrinkles.

Bundle wrapping isn’t the most practical way to pack, but to keep your clothes wrinkle-free, it’s a little bit more effective than the rolling technique.

How to get wrinkles out of clothes without an iron?

No matter which of the above folding and packing techniques you use, your clothes will never come out of your luggage perfectly smooth. If you don’t have an iron handy, try out the following tips to remove any remaining creases in your garments:

  • Hang up your clothes up as soon as you arrive at your destination. Gravity will help a little.
  • Hang up your clothes in the bathroom while you have a hot shower. The steam will help remove some of the wrinkles, granted you only have a few. Using a wrinkle-release spray before hanging your garment in the bathroom works best.
  • Use a damp towel to humidify the wrinkled clothes and use a hair dryer while tugging at the wrinkles.

My Anatomie Travel Capsule Wardrobe: Best Wrinkle Free Travel Clothes for Women

Sharing is Caring!

I have this thing. If I have really nice clothing – like, favourite stylish travel clothes, I tend not to wear them as often as I’d like to. Instead, I still wear wrinkle-free travel clothes – but cheaper, older, less comfortable, or less stylish clothes and I justify keeping my favourites in the (proverbial) closet (which for me is actually my luggage ), so I can save them for a more “special” occasion.

travel clothes that don't wrinkle

I saw Loretta LaRoche speak at a conference. She grew up being told by her mother that she could only wear her nice underwear on special occasions. Thing is, there was never an occasion special enough to put on these “party pants”. She also poked fun at people who have sitting rooms they never sit in, with nice furniture covered in protective plastic. Her theory was that we could all love life a lot more if we enjoyed the things we have rather than perpetually saving them for another day….a day that may never come.

I’m here to say it’s time to wear our party pants.

I have traveled with two tiny packing cubes of easy care travel clothes from Anatomie Travel Clothing for three weeks, in true capsule wardrobe fashion. It changed the way I will travel (and live!) forever.

NOTE: This article was originally published in 2016, and gets updated regularly – at least once a year. Some of the styles pictured here have been discontinued; I’ve replaced some with newer shots, but I also wanted to show that I’ve been wearing Anatomie clothes for over a DOZEN years! Even though some styles come and go, the signature materials, design ethics, elevated style, and travel-friendly properties remain constant.

My Journey With Anatomie Travel Clothing

The birth of the Anatomie capsule wardrobe idea

I visited Anatomie Travel Clothing’s headquarters in Miami. I’d been a fan of Anatomie for years already; they sent me my first outfit in 2012 – an outfit that is still going strong, all these years (and abuse) later. (See also: Anatomie – My New Favourite Travel Clothing )

Shawn and Kate (Anatomie’s co-founders) talked about cost-per-wear. While doing some math, I realized that their prices (a stumbling block for me) weren’t as high as I’d initially thought if I worked out how many miles I could get out of them – literally and figuratively. So, I threw out my jeans .

I returned to Anatomie’s headquarters a second time with a furrowed brow. My favourite travel pants – the Kate Skinny Cargo pants, which I got just a couple of years prior – had worn in the strangest of ways. It led to concerns about the quality of their travel clothes on the whole. My original capris were doing great! Why had the Kate pants deteriorated like this in a fraction of the time?

Anatomie was churning out a huge number of new styles at the time, becoming a highly-recognized brand name in the luxury market as the ultimate travel clothes for women. Had they grown too big for their own good?

Luckily, my concerns were assuaged when I received a brand new pair of Kate pants and was assured that any customer with a similar problem would be afforded the same treatment. They said that occasionally material from the end of a roll could do funny things like this, and while they hadn’t seen this particular problem before, they would look out for it in the future.

While Anatomie may be growing exponentially, they still pride themselves on superior service and developing long-term relationships with their customers, as evidenced by the expedient replacement of my defective pants, their personal style concierge service, and more.

Not only did they replace my Kate pants, but they loaded me up with a whole bunch of new styles and Anatomie “ Travel Essential ” pieces. (Travel Essentials are styles they carry year after year because they’re so popular, and customers get angry if Anatomie stops making them.)

With this gift of new clothes, they issued me a challenge: pack and wear only Anatomie clothes for my next trip. So, I did; the next opportunity I had to leave my big suitcase I armed myself for three weeks with two wee packing cubes of Anatomie clothes.

Here’s what I learned about what makes for the best wrinkle free travel clothes for women. (See the end of this post for an exact list of what I traveled with, so you can design your own ideal travel capsule wardrobe).

Two packing cubes, used for my Anatomie travel capsule wardrobe challenge

Before we go any further, I must tell you that I have received a ton of Anatomie clothing for free since the beginning of my partnership. I’ll also add that I’ve bought many styles for myself at retail prices. I put my money where my mouth is, and I endorse Anatomie for having terrific travel clothes for women. As such, if you click on any of the links in this post and buy Anatomie clothes, I will receive a small commission. It doesn’t affect your price, and it helps me keep running The Professional Hobo . I appreciate your support in advance!

Quality travel clothing will go the distance – literally and figuratively.

My Cargo Capris (since discontinued, though keep an eye on the Anatomie website – they occasionally revive them for a season) are still going strong since getting them in 2012. This is one style that I haven’t saved for special occasions; over the years, I’ve worn these pants more than any other pair of pants I’ve owned. Like, ever. After all these years of abuse, the material is softer and even comfier.

I’ve washed them in dodgy washing machines around the world, and they’ve even seen a few dryers (which you’re not supposed to do, FYI). The only thing I can say is that the material has thinned out a little (but not so much as to be a problem), and has also stretched out a little (due to my own weight gain/loss/gain/loss/etc. over the years).

Regarding fit in general, Anatomie advises that you can expect that the signature stretch wrinkle-free material used for their pants will stretch over time (it’s what makes Anatomie pants a custom fit, as it stretches to hug your curves perfectly). More on this later.

Washing and Drying

If you’re traveling with a limited (capsule) wardrobe, washing and drying must be easy.

Need to dry your pants in a hurry? A simple hairdryer will do the trick in just a few mins! (Almost) everything Anatomie offers is machine washable in cold water.

Machine dryers, in general, are horrible on your clothes (they exponentially accelerate deterioration), nor are they particularly environmentally friendly. Luckily most Anatomie styles dry quickly, usually overnight.

Wrinkle Free Packing

Packing light means not having a lot of space. Irons are not an option.

Are you worried about cramming those expensive duds into a packing cube ? Don’t. Anatomie makes easy care travel clothes, and although some pieces may come out of your luggage looking wrinkled, the wrinkles easily fall out as soon as you put them on. You will love their wrinkle resistant fabrics, life-changing!

Other styles made of crazy comfy jersey and mesh (here are their current lightweight jackets and wide variety of shirts ) are truly wrinkle free in all respects. Scrunch it up in a ball in your bag. I dare ya.

Comfort Vs. Style

There’s nothing worse than being uncomfortable. Except perhaps, being underdressed.

Luckily there’s no compromise! I’m just as comfy in my Luisa skinny jeans  on a plane as I am in a pair of leggings. Except, I’m wearing something considerably more stylish than leggings.

Even the Andrea Contrast Panel leggings are more-than-leggings.

For me, the perfect travel wardrobe has stylish travel clothes, without being pretentious. Regardless of whether you’re dressed up or down, you’re comfortable. Travel throws you enough curveballs; you’d better be comfy in your second skin.

On the topic of comfort, their Pima Cotton Tank Tops  are made from Pima cotton, from Peru. I was ambivalent when they suggested I try it out ( it’s a plain tank top….kinda boring right? ), but it quickly became my absolute favourite top to wear. It’s suuuuuuuper soft, breathable, won’t shrink, goes with everything, and just like most of Anatomie’s styles, can be machine washed (on cold), and will dry fast.

The Pam Mesh Panel Long Sleeve Top from Anatomie is great wrinkle free travel clothing!

Staying Warm

Cool/cold weather is the biggest challenge to packing light. The secret is in layering.

Most of Anatomie’s travel clothing styles are very lightweight – which is both a selling point and a challenge. The signature stretch fabric used to make most of their pants is light as a feather, which means it won’t weigh you down as you take off, but if you’re taking off to chilly places, you might be cold.

Over the years, I’ve found ways to circumvent these challenges:

Layer Under. While most of Anatomie’s travel pants are slim-fitting, there’s still room for a pair of leggings underneath for added warmth.

Layer Over. This is where Anatomie’s travel jackets shine. While one of their mesh jackets is ridiculously comfortable over a tank top and takes the edge off a summer night, it’s also warmer than it looks and can be worn over a long-sleeved top (which also shows through the mesh, and looks very nice).

The same goes for the Kenya Safari Jacket , which is hands-down their most popular travel jacket , and for good reason. It’s roomy enough to go over thicker under-layers, yet form-fitting enough to be super stylish and flattering.

travel clothes that don't wrinkle

If you find yourself in even chillier climes, they have a selection of quilted, cashmere, and even leather styles. I still have a style of an Anatomie travel jacket (which they don’t carry anymore) that is ideal for shoulder season climates.

Anatomie travel jackets go the mile for comfort and style!

2024 UPDATE: I spent a whole winter in a snowy mountain town, with the help of Anatomie’s new Cozy Essentials lineup ! Their fleece-lined signature styles (like the Kenya Jacket and Skyler Pants) are literally the comfiest clothes I own – super stretchy and soft. And lucky for me, they’re also the most stylish clothes I own. Best of all worlds!

Free Returns and Clothing Guarantees

Spending a lot of money on the perfect travel capsule wardrobe? Free returns are critical.

I’m still leery of ordering clothes online. Even with sizing charts, you just never know how something will fit.

Anatomie understands this, and orders placed in the U.S. include free returns . And rumour has it they’re going to offer free returns to Canadian customers very soon too!

So if you’re curious about how that shirt or pair of pants will fit, there’s no risk in ordering it and finding out first-hand.

The same goes for clothing defects. While normal wear and tear are on your own dime, if there’s a problem with an Anatomie style, they’ll send you a new pair, as I experienced myself. Anatomie wants you to be 100% happy with your clothes, as they’ve demonstrated to me repeatedly.

Travel Clothing for Women with Curves

Most people aren’t models. So how do we know if those pants will actually fit AND look good?

Over the years, I’ve grown, and not just emotionally! While I’m not disproportionate or overweight, my measurements baffle many sizing charts.

While trying to order pants and a shirt from (another) online clothing company, I couldn’t figure out which sizes to get. According to their sizing charts, I was somewhere between a Small and Medium for the shirt (but my bust measurement said I should be Large – and believe me, my boobs aren’t that spectacular).

When it came to my lower half, my self-esteem “bottomed” out. While I was accustomed to being a size 6-8, my recent weight gain put me in the (8-10) category. This particular clothing company’s size 12 looked like it would still be too small. And….size 12 was their largest size. Who does that?!?! I have no idea what other curvy women would do if they tried to order anything from this company. (To their credit, my complaints inspired them to change their sizing charts, which is why they shall remain nameless in this post.) I simply share this story here as an example of how screwed up sizing is across the board, especially when it comes to women’s pants.

Shawn (Anatomie’s co-founder and chief designer) stood by while I tried on a huge variety of clothes, and he told me how they’re supposed to fit and made specific sizing recommendations.

Even though I wanted to err on the side of caution with larger sizes, Shawn warned me that most of Anatomie’s pants stretch up to a whole size over time ; and my older Anatomie pants are testament to this. So, if your own Anatomie travel pants are a bit tight to begin with, never fear: their signature stretch fabric is a bit of a miracle-worker and will mold to your curves perfectly with time.

Loving the Kenya Safari Jacket by Anatomie: best wrinkle free travel clothing for women

Here are some observations about how Anatomie’s stylish travel clothes are made for curvy women :

  • The Suzette Skort  has built-in jersey bicycle shorts. While this does add a bit to the packing weight and bulk, my thighs thanked me; can you say “ no thigh rub?? ” (Not a fan of the short skirt? I get it. Here are their current dresses , which include some super classy styles. I own their Marine Travel Dress , which is super flattering for all figures and made of a material that can literally be balled up and stuffed into a corner of my luggage and come out ready for the runway).
  • I asked Shawn which styles of Anatomie’s travel pants are best for the curvy woman; he said the Kate Pant  (which I can attest to). More recently, Anatomie has come out with a whole line of pants for curvy women! You can now shop their entire site by body type , which is very useful.
  • Not all women appreciate tight shirts. While I do recommend having at least one somewhat form-fitting tank top and long-sleeved top for layering underneath jackets and such, I also like having a “let it all hang out” sort of top. Anatomie has a selection of looser-fitting tops that will turn heads; just have a browse through the store to see their latest designs, as their styles are always changing.

Not sure yourself? Here is one of the many bangs you get for your buck with Anatomie, in addition to free returns and quality guarantees: their personal Style Concierge will assist you with personalized fit and styling tips . You’ll find their personal email on the Contact page of the website, and their assistance is very valuable (and of course, free).

Anatomie Wrinkle Resistant Clothing Recommendations

Here is what I packed when I took the challenge to travel with only Anatomie clothing. Note: many of the exact items I took with me have been discontinued. I’ve switched them out here with new items (that I own) which are comparable replacements. Depending on the climate at your destination, you might want to adjust this selection. For example when visiting a hot climate you’ll want to switch out a jacket or long-sleeved shirt for another tank/tee. This travel capsule wardrobe is ideal for warm temperate weather.

Bailey Mesh Jacket (it won’t wrinkle, no matter how hard you try!)

Kenya Safari Jacket (stylish, can be worn with sleeves rolled up or down, zipped up to the neck, etc)

Calista Rollup Henley Top (pima cotton, long-sleeved), AND/OR

Alida button-down Poplin Shirt (I love this dressy shirt because the front panel is a structured material, and the arms and back are soft stretchy jersey)

Jackson Pima Cotton Tank (a staple for any travel wardrobe, perfect on its own and for layering)

Flo Tee (note: here’s their current collection of tops to choose from )

Suzette Skort (with built-in jersey bicycle shorts)

Luisa Skinny Jean OR Kate Skinny Cargo Pant (I own and adore both, but I choose just one per trip)

I know, I know. I must sound like a psychotic cheerleader. I promise, I haven’t been drugged, nor unduly forced to write all these accolades. Anatomie approached to develop a long-term relationship, much like they do with all their customers. (The difference being, they started me off with a free outfit, which inspired my love affair with them. Lucky me!).

And as much as I love Anatomie, they love me too, and they’re fascinated at how I traveled with carry-on luggage only for two whole years! While I was visiting Anatomie’s headquarters this year, they turned on the cameras and got me to share my top packing tips for ultralight travel. Here’s what I had to say:

travel clothes that don't wrinkle

21 thoughts on “My Travel Capsule Wardrobe: Best Wrinkle Free Travel Clothes for Women”

Noted for my wife Nora. I dig the party pants analogy. Good to know of the wrinkle free aspect too; sometimes we travel outside of the tropics. Humidity in places takes care of wrinkles fast but outside of the tropics you need quality, wrinkle-free clothes. Or an iron and board which ain’t happening around much of the world.

That is, unless you practice “extreme ironing”….in which case…..bring on the ironing board! LOL

This is a great post, with the exception of all the body shaming. What’s up with the “real” woman stuff? Is a model a “fake” woman? You’re a great writer, and I know there’s a better way you can get your point across without making some women feel like they don’t qualify as “real” women.

Hey Beck, Great observation – thank you! While curvy women seem to get the short end of the stick when it comes to body image issues and persecution on a variety of levels, you are right in that I haven’t acknowledged skinny women as being “real”. I’ve removed all language that isolates any body type as being “real” or otherwise.

Thank you! It makes a difference 🙂

I’m sorry But HAVING mainly ANOREXIC MODELS EVERYWHERE ADVERTISING LADIES CLOTHING IS NOT REALISTIC AND DOES NOTHING BUT PUT UNREALISTIC IMAGES on how we should LOOK and THAT’S wrong because yes they ARE FAKE THEIR ANOREXIC AIRBRUSHED BLOWN UP/ DEFLATED ETC ( REFERRING TO DIFFERENT AREAS OF BODY) Therefore We have TOO MANY GIRLS GROWING UP WANTING 2 LOOK LIKE THAT INSTEAD OF BEING HAPPY WITH WHO THEY ARE SO THEY WIND UP DEAD!!!!!! FROM STARVATION. DEPRESSION OVERDOSE PREGNANT ALL DUE TO UNREALISTIC TOOTHPICK IMAGE MEDIA PLACES ON HOW FEMALE BODY SHOULD LOOK

AMEN TO ALL LADIES OF ALL SIZES WHO ARE NATURAL WITHOUT ANY COSMETIC SURGERY DONE!!!

I am very happy 2 see women of all sizes are finally being noticed and admired!

Nora, I was ready to like this company you love in spite of the big price tags. Just thought you should be aware how an ordinary customer is treated. I found this in the reviews from the Skyler Skinny Pant. I’m afraid that you get special treatment from the company. If they really backed up their products for defects it might be worth it. But 10% discount is nothing to compensate this woman for a messed up zipper on a very expensive pair of pants.

hannah poor policy I have purchased a pair of Anatomie pants and was very satisfied with the product, until I had the inner seam of the zipper seperate from the fabric so they are no longer wearable. I have worn the pants no more than 10 times, but being outside of the 30 days they would not help me. Since this was obviously a quality issue I feel like this says something about the company as a whole. Anatomie >> replied: Hannah, thank you for contacting us; we apologize for the inconvenience. We looked into the matter and since the pants were purchased about a year ago, and that particular style is no longer in production, we will not be able to issue a replacement. But we would like to offer you 10% off your next purchase for the inconvenience encountered. If you have any other questions, please contact us at [email protected] , we would love to help!

Hi Linda, Oh my! That’s not good. I’ve contacted the team at Anatomie to look into this. I hope there’s another side to this story, because indeed, this contradicts what I understand their customer service policy to be.

I wonder if perhaps she bought the last of a line that was being discontinued and was thus on clearance sale. Anything on super clearance wouldn’t likely be subject to the same return/exchange policy.

Nora, since I wrote the above post, I have given Anatomie a try. Customer service has been wonderful, namely Raquel. It’s very difficult to get the style and size right on first try and she’s shown some flexibility. I tried the popular Skyler pants and am lukewarm about the fit. I’m going to give your Luisa Skinny Jeans a try! (Did you by any chance try the Lora Nylon & Fleece jacket? Seems to be one of their Italian items.)

Anyway, I love your blog! I signed up for your emails and am loving your writing and all the helpful information. I’m simply thrilled!

P.S. We’re going to Cuenca January-February! We’re putting the house on the market and hope to find house-sitting gigs while we are here in the Atlanta area to give us more flexibility. We had part of this plan in process when I landed on your blog. You gave me the extra push I needed to try house-sitting and work-aways. We had already signed up for WorkAway and my nephew uses WWOOF. We’ll probably try both!

Hi Linda, I’m so very glad that you gave Anatomie a shot and that your experience has been positive! I didn’t really like the Skyler pant fit either, so I hope you like the Luisa in contrast (I think you will). I haven’t tried the Lora jacket, but it looks beautiful.

And thank you for reading! Good luck with the sale of the house (and all your stuff in it – ha ha), and I hope you enjoy your time in Cuenca. It’s a gorgeous place.

Happy Travels!

From being stylish to help you get through your daily workouts, leggings have got it all.

Amen to that!

I keep asking for someone to post a blog for clothes for women over 60. Everything I see is for twenty year old. Travelled to over 65 countries. Now in my seventies cannot wear the ridiculous clothes and shoes., no one writes for older women. Pity.

Hi Sue, I’m sorry you feel under-represented and under-served by myself and other sites. I would have thought that at least some of the styles offered by Anatomie are ageless. Many are conservative, and most are classy – especially the jackets and tops.

It seems you are raving about quite a few garments no longer made. Perhaps you should update and let us know how the replacement garments actually pack and hold up.

Lastly, cost-per-wear is simply semantics for overcharging. Much can be done with less expensive clothing. You just gotta throw on a pashmina or a bright scarf over inexpensive tops and slacks/skirts.

This is not to say expensive travel clothing doesn’t have its place. I definitely have some expensive regular clothing, since I show dogs. (Take a look at the womens’ suits worn on the Westminster telecast, including St. John’s.) But I’m buying less expensive travel clothing so I may spend my money in Florence. 😎

Hi Jennifer, I think the very fact that I’m still wearing styles I got 10 years ago (that have since been discontinued) it testament to how long Anatomie clothing lasts! I haven’t had to replace them. New designs by Anatomie (and they’re constantly updating their lineup as many fashion brands do) continue to use their signature stretch material and other travel-friendly materials. So it’s safe to assume their new styles pack and hold up just as well as all the garments I’ve gotten over the last 10 years.

As for cost-per-wear and choice of travel clothing, all that boils down to your budget and your priorities. Spending less money on clothes so you can spend more money in Florence is a perfectly justifiable decision!

As a former national sewing instructor and alterations expert, I have to respectfully disagree. Cost-per-wear is a valid calulation, but one easily forgotten in these days of disposable clothing. (I’m not talking about overpaying for a logo, but buying true quality.) Compare a dense wool winter coat or jacket with proper interfacing, interlining, thermal lining, appropriate stitching with durable high-quality thread and natural horn buttons V. a trendy coat from a big box or mall store made from a cheap blend that beads up, little if any interfacing, thin rayon lining, long stitches of flimsy poly thread and plastic buttons that doesn’t combat the cold or breathe like a natural fiber. Real quality means buy it once, take care of it, wear it for years. Or… buy cheap where only pennies of the price are spent on overseas labor and oil-based, polluting materials while the rest is spent on polluting transportation and trendy marketing, just to result in pilling within a wash or two, and sweat and stink that clings to the cheap fabric, then toss it in a landfill where it sits unchanged for generations or crate it on a pallet and ship it yet again to a poor country where starving children pick for rags. A quick google will provide a thorough and absolutely shocking education on how cheap fashion has degraded people, industry and our environment — all for a $10 pair of sweat pants that won’t last a season. If people focused their closets (and suitcases) on a classic, high-quality, long-lasting classic capsule wardrobe and supplemented with very few, cheap trendy pieces, they’d be much more comfortable, cause a lot less damage… and spend a LOT less in the long run. So the next time you compare prices, think about what went into producing the garment, the quality of the materials and construction, how long it will last, how it will hold up over time – and do that cost per wear.

Very well said and something not enough people think about. Unfortunately people on a low income (such as myself) can’t often afford to spend a lot on clothes. I am a larger women, so my choices of where to shop are limited. I wear my clothes until they wear out and hardly ever buy new clothes. I don’t have the money and find it hard to find something that suits.

This was amazing. I always seem to have the most trouble with my clothes wrinkling. I am very excited to try out your advice and see how they stand up against my clothes.

So thank you for this 🙂

– Sara

Time to remove or update this post. Cannot count how many times you said an item was discontinued and I wasted time trying to find the meat of this article.

Thanks for the feedback, Laura. I update this post regularly (which is why I discuss how items have been discontinued – that’s an update!) to show that I have owned and continue to own pieces over the long term – and how long they last, and what the various styles look like. If you click through to Anatomie, you’ll see they offer a ton of new styles, but overall their look is consistent. Also, I just checked all the links I provided – they are up to date!

Ripely Rader pants are my go to when I need a wrinkle free pant that is great for travel and also can be dressed up. They are stretchy but very fashionable. They look great with runners or sandals. The wide leg is chic and they are super long which for this 5’11” girl is important but they are easy to cut or tailor down if needed.

I am open to minimalist packing but my biggest worry is pants, being able to go from lots of walking to a night out on the town, with less wrinkles as possible. Especially if they are to be reworn before being able to rewash. I am excited about these options !

Rene Mohrhauser

A very complete list. I have the lululemon and several Athleta pants. All work wonderfully for travel. Also 7 diamonds are also great

Packing for any trip is such a slog, and nothing is worse than when you arrive at your destination only to realize that the items you neatly packed away are a wrinkled mess. Sure, many hotels have irons in their rooms, but having to treat your clothes takes away from precious vacation time. There is a simple solution that ensures you spend the most time enjoying yourself rather than getting rid of every crinkle: You can pack anti-wrinkle clothing.

These wrinkle-resistant items will look super crisp as soon as you pull them out of your suitcase — all you have to do is slip them on and you’re good to go! Searching for the best takes a lot of time and effort, so I did the heavy lifting and found 16 incomparable items that will have you looking your best while traveling. Keep reading to find some of the top options from Amazon, lululemon, Nordstrom, Spanx and more!

Best Anti-Wrinkle Tops

1. Essential Blouse:  Finding a blouse that won’t wrinkle in your suitcase is a pain. Luckily, you can rest assured that this casual flowy pick from Dokotoo will still look crisp once you pull it out — not steaming or ironing required!

2. Denim for the Win:  Denim rarely wrinkles, which makes it a supreme travel essential . . . and I’m not just talking about jeans. A denim top — like this one from Quince – is a simple addition to your packing list that can be worn for a variety of activities and occasions.

3. The Best Way to Avoid Wrinkles?  Pack a bodysuit. Even if it gets a little wrinkly in transit, simply hanging this lululemon Wundermost bodysuit up will help any crinkles dissipate so you can go about your day in style.

Wrinkle-Free Travel Clothes To Take On Your Next Adventure

woman by a door wearing a button down shirt

We’ve all been there. You assembled the perfect wardrobe, meticulously planned, carefully packed, hopped on a plan, and landed. You’re exhausted, ready for a shower, and likely in need of some food. You open your suitcase for your favorite button down top and pants, only to find them horribly wrinkled and basically unwearable until you find an iron or some wrinkle-release spray. The suitcase wrinkles strike again.

It doesn’t have to be that way, though. Thanks to new fabric technology, travel-wear companies are creating ways to not sacrifice fashion for function, creating pants and tops that are wrinkle-resistant and iron-free.

If you’re ready to pack the perfect summer wardrobe without the wrinkle hassle, read on below for our top travel brands below.

Other Wrinkle-Free Fashion Considerations

Beyond the brands above, consider checking tags for fabric to determine whether or not an item will be wrinkle-resistant. In general, fabrics such as lyocell, polyester, knits, spandex, and rayon tend to be better at resisting wrinkles compared to natural fabrics like cotton, linen, and hemp. For natural and wrinkle-resistant fabrics, both Tencel and twill are plant-based and plastic-free for a more environmentally-friendly option.

Next time you take a trip, don’t let wrinkles hold you back from enjoying your time away. Invest in easily packable wrinkle-resistant clothing to let your wardrobe work for you wherever, whenever.

Wrinkle Free Travel Clothes/Womens Packable Travel Clothes

While I adore exploring new destinations, I absolutely despise wrinkled clothing. I’ve spent years looking for the best solution to keep my clothing from coming out of my carry-on looking like a crumpled mess, but it wasn’t until I discovered the magic of packable travel clothes that I truly felt liberated from the woes of wrinkled attire and overstuffed suitcases. Today, I’m excited to share some packable travel clothes for women I’ve found, as well as some tips for achieving wrinkle-free travel clothes.

travel clothes that don't wrinkle

Chico’s has a great selection of no iron clothing , as well as items made with travel in mind . I brought this shirt  with me on our recent trip to Mexico and it came right out of my bag, looking fresh with barely a wrinkle in sight.

travel clothes that don't wrinkle

This Chico’s no-iron linen shirt was also a valuable player during my latest trip to Mexico.

What is Packable Clothing

These clothing items are typically made from materials that are wrinkle-resistant and quick-drying, making them ideal for packing in suitcases, backpacks, or travel bags. Packable clothing often incorporates features such as foldable designs, minimal seams, and compressible fabrics, allowing travelers to maximize space in their luggage while minimizing wrinkles and creases.

Common examples of packable clothing include lightweight jackets , travel-friendly pants , foldable dresses , and wrinkle-resistant shirts . These garments are engineered to withstand the rigors of travel, whether it’s a weekend getaway, a business trip, or an international adventure. Packable clothing is valued for its versatility and convenience, as it allows travelers to pack efficiently without sacrificing style or comfort.

Selecting the Best Materials to Avoid Wrinkles

travel clothes that don't wrinkle

Even if an item doesn’t say “wrinkle free” or “no iron”, it doesn’t mean it won’t work for your travels. By understanding and selecting the correct fabrics for your travel wardrobe, you can minimizing creases and maintaining a polished appearance throughout your journey.

Polyester blends, such as polyester-cotton or polyester-rayon, are renowned for their wrinkle-resistant properties. These synthetic fibers are inherently more resilient to wrinkling than natural materials and can bounce back to their original shape with ease. My wrinkle resistant, recycled polyester Athleta Endless pants have been a valuable addition to my own travel wardrobe. They are not only flattering, but made with wicking, quick-drying features.

travel clothes that don't wrinkle

If you’re like me and you prefer wearing natural fibers, certain types of cotton can also provide a degree of wrinkle resistance. Cotton-polyester blends, for instance, offer the breathability and comfort of cotton with the added wrinkle-fighting capabilities of polyester. Additionally, high-quality Egyptian or Pima cotton fabrics are known for their long fibers and smooth texture, which contribute to reduced wrinkling. Linen, while prone to creasing, can be a viable option if blended with other fibers like rayon or polyester to improve its wrinkle resistance. I brought this linen cardigan with me to Mexico, and it was the perfect lightweight layer.

Tips for Packing

travel clothes that don't wrinkle

Here are some handy tips to ensure your garments emerge from your suitcase looking as pristine as when you packed them.

  • Roll your clothing: This method reduces friction and pressure points within your luggage.
  • Order matters: Pack heavier items at the bottom of your suitcase and place lighter, more wrinkle-prone clothing on top.
  • Unpack Promptly: Unloading your bags upon arrival and hanging your clothes in a steamy bathroom or using a portable travel steamer can help release any stubborn wrinkles that may have formed during transit.
  • Grab a Packable Tote : When not in use, it folds into a compact zip-top pouch that you can easily pack into your suitcase.
  • Use Packing Cubes : Get a little extra space in your bag by using compression packing cubes. I haven’t noticed extra wrinkles since I’ve started using them, but I’ve noticed I can fit several more items!
  • Don’t forget a packable hat : You can read my tips for how to pack a hat here in this post.

Do you have any packing tips to add to the list?

What size are you wearing in the white Nordstrom slim pants in the photo? I’ve recently lost a lot of weight and am about your height and weight now. I live in the country and do most of my shopping online.

I’m wearing a size 8. Congratulations on losing the weight!

After a couple of attempts writing on my I-pad, and having my writing skipping and deleting, I’ve come to the main computer. Do others have this problem? What I wanted to add is, that like other readers, I too find the Athleta Endless Pant fits rather baggy at the side of the upper thigh. I still like the way if fits my bottom , so they will be used on my upcoming flight to Paris and the trip along the Seine. Just hide that part with a coat. After reading more about the benefits of merino wool, I will be on the look out for another pullover. Perhaps a shop in St Germain in Paris?! So, Jennifer, are you sailing towards the chilly north on Ponant. If so, you’ll become a fan, as I am, of these French sea going cruise ships. The Explorer series are my favourites, but the Commandant Charcot is the new ice breaker of the fleet. Polar bears are in crisis with the rapidly melting polar ice, so enjoy them while they are still there. Likely not in 15 years, if there aren’t the needed changes made to our warming planet, according to CBC. Just jumped down from my soap box!

Your upcoming trip sounds amazing! The Endless pants are a bit roomy through the hips on me too but I still love the style and fabric. No, we’re not going on Ponant but I’ve heard fabulous things about them.

When we’ve traveled to cold places I’ve shopped at Orvis, Royal Robbins and REI for base layers of merino wool. It’s a MUST, otherwise you end up being miserably cold and not enjoying the trip. And don’t forget when you’re out on the water, it can feel colder, often with a biting wind; so you will probably want to consider a base layer under your pants as well. I’d suggest a warm cowl or buff, and a wool hat that can be pulled down over your ears.

Great suggestions!

The EF crepe is a great fabric for travel. The pants come in several styles and colors. They wear like iron.

Tip for de-wrinkling clothes on a cruise: travel irons and steamers are not allowed on a cruise ship, so I keep a stash of small spritz bottles in my “cruise supplies” box. Fill one with warm water from the bathroom tap, and spray your clothes lightly. Shake or hand smooth, hang in bathroom to dry. Works especially well on knits and the newer types of linen blends.

That’s a great tip. Thanks Laurie

Gauze. And anything “crinkle” style, if you can find them.

Agreed. I love cotton gauze in the summer

Great travel tips. . What was the nasal immunity spray you used . … you mentioned in earlier Post ?Needing to be careful on cross country trip with immune issues.

I used Nozin, which seems sold out, but this one looks similar.

Lovely outfits thank you Jennifer. I really like Frank and Eileen Rory dress as it is so easy to wear when travelling especially. Enjoy those beautiful grandsons!!

I love that dress. It’s really cozy.

I’d also chime in with a recommendation for Athleta’s Brooklyn pants, which are tissue thin and light but somehow provide good coverage. I’m packing two pair for our upcoming 6 week, carry-on-only trip abroad. I also have their Endless pants but find them a bit baggy through the thigh so they didn’t make the cut.

I like lightweight shirts that can be handwashed and dried, including Athleta’s Everlasting tanks and tops (l/s and sleeveless), Columbia Sportswear, and Orvis (just bought an Orvis chambray-like l/s that literally appears not to wrinkle ever; I love chambray as a neutral). I’m also a fan of Eileen Fisher clothing and her cotton gauze shirts. I rely on handwashing much of the time when we travel (usually twice a year for 6 weeks at a time) so my clothing has to hang dry without excessive wrinkling! These tops are great on their own or layered with an over shirt or sweater.

Thanks for your great suggestions. Your blog is one I really enjoy and find useful.

I agree with you about the hips on the Endless and the Brooklyn fabric. I have and love those too. I’ve got one sleeveless and one long sleeve endless top and love them. The fabric is awesome.

I really enjoy your blog! I have been thinking of purchasing the Athleta Endless Pant. I usually wear a size 10 (Talbots, J. Crew). Do you recommend sizing up in this pant?

I sized down because they have stretch.

Do appreciate this post as am at that stage in my life am not fond of being a slave to ‘ironing or pressing’ clothes or having them compete with my wrinkles (☺) after ten minutes of wearing, so am on the hunt for easy care ‘n wear clothing. As to packing tips; I have also found while at home rolling up your lingerie and sleepwear makes for more space in your dresser drawers. -Brenda-

I’ve begun doing that with some sweaters at home too.

I’m a big fan of J.Jill’s Wearever Collection.

I love that line too. It’s my favorite at J. Jill.

More and more, I’m becoming a proponent of merino wool clothing. With it’s temperature regulating and odor resistant qualities, it’s perfect for travel. It also packs down to nothing and will dry overnight should you need to do a quick wash in a hotel sink. Would be perfect for your polar bear expedition. I’m envious!

Great point about wool.

I always pack a travel-sized bottle of “wrinkle release” spray. It doesn’t replace ironing, but does the job.

Awesome! Great idea.

Seersucker is both wrinkle resistant and great in hot weather. I also like linen t-shirts for travel in hot weather. They are easy to wash in a hotel sink and they dry quickly. They never look crisp, but do not get wrinkled like untreated linen broadcloth.

I like Uniglo packable down , it’s warm , light, and washable. Polyester isn’t as warm as down for me. I buy a vest and a jacket and layer them together! I even have a down bathrobe ( yes I run cold😂)

Great tips! I need to try packing cubes on my next trip. And I will be checking out Chico’s no-iron linen tops. One thing I do is save the muslin dust cover bags from purses I no longer own and repurpose them into shoe holders. Admittedly, I’m a bit of a germaphobe, so the thought of packing shoes next to my clean clothes seems nasty to me. Then, to save some room, I pack any socks and belts I’m bringing into the shoes themselves in the bags.

I use those too! Shoes are dirty!

Thank you for the great travel wardrobe and packing tips. I recently lost my favorite travel pants (where oh where can they be??) and want to check out some of your suggestions – the Athlete pants look especially nice. But all your outfits look great!

What brand were your favorites?

As we mentioned earlier, lightweight wrinkle-free travel clothes are available in a variety of options. They come in different styles, sizes, and material types. Your job is to choose which ones will work great during your trip and get them in your trunk. While some of you may be interested in how to pack wrinkle-free clothes, let’s talk about that a bit later.

So, to help you choose the right product, we’ve researched and investigated on a small scale. As a result, we conclude that there are at least three crucial factors that you need to pay attention to when looking for the best wrinkle-free clothes for travel. Without much further ado, let’s get started!

First of all, you need to know that lightweight wrinkle-free travel clothes are made using different types of fabric. Merino wool is the best possible option, as they’re breathable, has decent insulation, and is great at warding off odors. Next, we have polyester, a magic fiber with incredible wrinkle-resistant capabilities. Apart from these two, there are nylon and denim. While they do look great on your body, these fabrics aren’t 100 percent crease-free.

And speaking of fabric, you might need something special to deal with more demanding conditions. In the case of a ski trip, you can check out our list of the best men’s waterproof ski jackets . These beautiful waterproof jackets are a reliable option that can help you stay toasty and mobile at the same time.

Those who travel a lot will agree that luggage space is precious. You need to make sure that you’re only going to pack essential things. As for the best wrinkle-free clothes for travel, it’s highly recommended to forget about bright colors. Go with neutral tones, especially for bottoms. We’re talking brown, black, or khaki here. They’re known to blend well with almost anything, so you can pack more efficiently.

Another thing to pay attention to when you learn how to pack wrinkle-free clothes is the pockets. See if the outfit you bring has enough of it. This will come in handy, especially when you can only pack a couple of garments. As an illustration, shirt pockets would be great for tickets and other smaller items. Meanwhile, trouser pockets can be used as temporary storage for passports and small cash.

Which Cloth Does Not Need Ironing?

Fabrics such as nylon, polyester, and Lycra are some that don’t require ironing. As for your information, they’re all man-made materials. But over time, there are some blends that get wrinkle-free treatment, such as cotton/poly and cotton/lycra.

Is It Better to Fold or Roll Clothes?

Folding is better because rolling the clothes will make them wrinkle more easily. Especially if you plan to pack cotton or linen clothes. Whenever possible, fold them according to the existing creases.

And if you really want all of your clothes to be crease-free, you can check out our list of the best travel steamers for clothes . Avoid showing up with wrinkles at dinner, just hours after landing. Let these amazing tools save your day!

How Do I Choose Fabric for Clothes?

First of all, make sure about the characteristics of the fabric. It’s highly recommended to check the GSM index (grams per square meter). This way, you’ll know how heavy or light the fabric is. Next, see how much they’ll stretch. And last but not least, check the drapes to see how they flow.

Travel Hack: Keep Clothing Wrinkle-Free Without Using Hotel Irons

<p>You may routinely use hotel irons; if you’re a frequent traveler, you may love them for their convenience.</p> <p>However, hotel irons come with hygiene concerns, may be covered in residue from previous visitors, are usually not high-quality, and may even present a fire hazard. It’s easy to remain wrinkle-free without depending on hotel irons.</p>

You may routinely use hotel irons; if you’re a frequent traveler, you may love them for their convenience.

However, hotel irons come with hygiene concerns, may be covered in residue from previous visitors, are usually not high-quality, and may even present a fire hazard. It’s easy to remain wrinkle-free without depending on hotel irons.

<p>When you shower or bathe, consider leaving the door open to allow the steam to travel. You could also wait to drain the bath, especially if the bathroom is warm and the water is still steamy. If you want to warm up your kitchen, use the stove to boil water and make yourself a cup of tea. It’s a win-win! </p>

Hang in a Steamy Shower

Steam can easily get wrinkles out of garments without adding bacteria. Hang your clothes in the bathroom while you have a hot shower , getting them as close as possible to the steam source and keeping the door shut.

However, ensure you don’t inadvertently get the clothes wet or splash soapy water on them.

<p>If you or your partner <a href="https://www.classicdrycleaner.com/removing-wrinkles-in-clothing/" rel="nofollow noopener">packed a hair straightener</a>, you can use it for wrinkle-free clothes without worrying about possible stains or residue from previous hotel visitors. These stains can transfer to your clothes while you iron them. To avoid that, turn on your straightener and pass it over the wrinkled parts of your item using some pressure. Repeat as many times as needed, then hang your clothes until they’re cool.</p>

Use a Hair Straightener

If you or your partner packed a hair straightener , you can use it for wrinkle-free clothes without worrying about possible stains or residue from previous hotel visitors. These stains can transfer to your clothes while you iron them.

To avoid that, turn on your straightener and pass it over the wrinkled parts of your item using some pressure. Repeat as many times as needed, then hang your clothes until they’re cool.

<p>Unlike other items in <a href="https://wealthofgeeks.com/insider-tricks-cheap-hotel-stays/" rel="noopener">hotel rooms</a>, irons are not routinely cleaned or disinfected between users. You’ll likely iron your clothes after others have done the same. While irons run hot, it’s still disconcerting to think about other people’s germs there. Instead of ironing your clothes, use your (or the hotel’s) <a href="https://www.rd.com/list/wrinkled-clothing-no-iron/" rel="nofollow noopener">hair dryer</a>. Slightly wet your item after hanging it on a hanger, set your hair dryer to an appropriate heat setting, and gently pull on the item while blowing air.</p>

While irons run hot, it’s still disconcerting to think about other people’s germs there. Instead of ironing your clothes, use your (or the hotel’s) hair dryer .

Slightly wet your item after hanging it on a hanger, set your hair dryer to an appropriate heat setting, and gently pull on the item while blowing air.

<p>When you buy nice new sheets or towels, you probably put the old ones in storage in case you need them. This is fine for a month or two, but if you don’t use the old linens for several months, you’ll probably never use them again, so it’s best to trash or donate them.</p>

Cover With a Damp Towel

Using a damp towel is better for getting your garment wrinkle-free than using a low-quality hotel iron that can damage delicate fabrics. Place a large towel on a table and put your item on it. Cover your item with a damp towel and press down gently but firmly.

Keep going until you’ve pressed down on the entire item, and repeat as necessary. Once you’re satisfied, hang your item to dry.

Carry a Wrinkle-Release Spray

To avoid using a hotel iron, you should pack a wrinkle-release spray . These sprays help clothes become wrinkle-free by relaxing the fabrics with a fabric softener.

Hang your clothes, spray them thoroughly, and smooth them with your hands until you’re happy with how they look. Ensure they’re dry before putting them on.

Make Your Own Wrinkle-Release Spray

If you’re into DIY-ing, you can also make your own wrinkle-release spray using equal parts water and white vinegar. If in a pinch, you can replace the vinegar with one teaspoon of hair conditioner per cup of water.

Follow the same method outlined above to return your garments to their original state.

<p>If you have a metal teapot in your hotel room, you can also use it to eliminate wrinkles rather than creating a fire hazard with an unattended hotel iron. Ensure there’s no residue on the bottom of the pot before using. Also, don’t use a hot teapot on delicate fabrics to avoid damage. Simply <a href="https://lifehacker.com/use-the-bottom-of-a-hot-pot-to-iron-your-clothes-1620377166" rel="nofollow noopener">heat the pot</a>, turn your garment inside out, and press the hot teapot over it gently to eliminate the wrinkles.</p>

Simply heat the pot , turn your garment inside out, and press the hot teapot over it gently to eliminate the wrinkles.

<p class="p1"><span>The frustration that sets in when you are in a hotel without an ironing station or electricity but have lots of creasy clothes is unimaginable. Users on an online discussion forum said they had to deal with this dilemma one too many times. A portable travel steamer is the ultimate solution! </span></p>

Pack a Handheld Steamer

Packing a handheld steamer is one way to never worry about wrinkled clothes when traveling. Fill your steamer with water and run it over your clothes after hanging them.

Keeping the steamer well away from your face, steam the garment up and down, making sure not to concentrate too much on any given spot.

<p>To avoid worrying about wrinkles when you reach your destination, <a href="https://www.whirlpool.com/blog/washers-and-dryers/what-do-dryer-sheets-do.html" rel="nofollow noopener">use dryer sheets</a> or wool balls when you do laundry.</p><p>They reduce static electricity cling and relax fabrics, making it harder for clothes to develop wrinkles.</p>

Avoid Wrinkles With Dryer Sheets or Wool Balls

To avoid worrying about wrinkles when you reach your destination, use dryer sheets or wool balls when you do laundry.

They reduce static electricity cling and relax fabrics, making it harder for clothes to develop wrinkles.

<p>You may have forgotten a load of laundry in the dryer overnight, only to discover a horrifically wrinkled bunch of clothes the following morning. Take your clothes <a href="https://www.bouncefresh.com/en-us/guide-to-drying-clothes/how-to-use-dryer" rel="nofollow noopener">out of the dryer</a> as soon as it stops working to avoid wrinkles in the long term as well.</p>

Prevent Wrinkles by Removing Clothes Out of Dryer Immediately

You may have forgotten a load of laundry in the dryer overnight, only to discover a horrifically wrinkled bunch of clothes the following morning.

Take your clothes out of the dryer as soon as it stops working to avoid wrinkles in the long term as well.

<p><span>Making your flight can be hectic sometimes, and heading out of the house like your hair’s on fire is a feeling we are all too familiar with. Nevertheless, you have to remember the essentials. An individual had a three-week trip in South Africa and forgot to pack his underwear. Unfortunately, he developed a rash and had to make an impromptu trip to the store for a remedy.</span></p>

Air-Dry Clothes To Avoid Wrinkles

If you’d rather avoid the dryer altogether, you’ll be happy to know it also helps keep your clothes wrinkle-free.

Air-drying clothes in well-ventilated areas prevents the formation of wrinkles and gives your clothes a casual look (not to mention it smells amazing).

<p>The last thing you want is to experience back, shoulder, or neck pain by lugging around heavy backpacks and suitcases while traveling. Overpacking may seem sensible, but your body deserves much better than that! Pack light and don’t overthink it: Traveling later in life should be about enjoying every second of an adventure, and there’s nothing fun about aches and pains. </p>

Pack Clothes Lightly

Another way to prevent wrinkles from forming is by keeping your closets light. Pack clothes with space between each other to avoid wrinkles that come from overcrowding.

If your clothes already have wrinkles before you pack them, they’ll look messy when you unpack them at your destination.

<p>If you’re taking an <a href="https://wealthofgeeks.com/get-a-cheap-rental-car/" rel="noopener">extended trip</a> and plan to take items out of your suitcase, this is the best way. </p>

Roll, Don’t Fold Clothes

When you pack garments in your suitcase the traditional way (folding them neatly), they almost always get wrinkles. However, rolling them instead makes them less likely to wrinkle.

Plus, you gain some extra space because rolled clothes take less room than folded ones.

<p>Knowing where to start when it comes to building your dark academia wardrobe can be daunting. Thankfully, pop culture is full of icons who can serve as outfit inspiration. </p>

Choose Fabric That Doesn’t Wrinkle

This one is a no-brainer. To avoid using a hotel iron, you can prevent the need for one in the first place by choosing fabrics like polyester, acrylic, nylon, and other synthetics that naturally don’t wrinkle.

While cotton is comfortable and healthy, it also wrinkles easily, so if you want to avoid synthetics, try garments made of wool, silk, or knits.

travel clothes that don't wrinkle

Put Clothes in the Dryer Before Packing

Putting your clothes in the dryer before packing them can iron out some wrinkles and prevent the formation of others.

This is especially true if you combine this tip with another one we suggested, like rolling your clothes instead of folding them.

<p>Embarking on new journeys requires more than just your adventurous spirit. You’ll need certain accessories to make things flow smoothly. Some items are obvious, like your phone charger or passport, but there are other unsuspecting items that seasoned travelers swear by.</p> <p>These are the things that can really elevate your travel experiences, but everyone might not be familiar with why you’d need them. Based on a popular online forum discussion, we’ve compiled a curated list of essential items every traveler must have in their arsenal.</p>

Put Your Clothes in Travel Bags

If you use travel bags for your clothes, you can eliminate some wrinkles because travel bags minimize contact between clothes, keeping wrinkles at a minimum.

You can wear your clothes without reaching for your steamer or portable iron.

<p>All you need to know about dry cleaning is the clothes arrive dirty and leave clean, crispy, and wrapped in plastic on a fabric zipline. What goes on between those two steps is a complete mystery. </p>

Use Laundry or Dry-Cleaning Services

If your hotel has a laundry room , you can take advantage of that (even if it comes with a fee). Put your clothes in the dryer with a wet towel or cloth, and run the dryer for about 15 minutes at the right setting for your clothes.

Once done, immediately remove the clothes and hang them. Likewise, if your hotel offers laundry service, you can leave your clothes for dry-cleaning for hygienic, wrinkle-free cleaning.

<p>Bundle-wrapping refers to <a href="https://www.today.com/home/how-pack-pro-bundle-wrapping-means-no-wrinkles-no-fuss-1d80318978" rel="nofollow noopener">a packing method</a> in which you start by making a bundle “core,” like a pair of socks bundled in a shirt, and then layering longer garments 180 degrees from each other. You then lay out shirts vertically and pants horizontally until all your garments are laid out. Finally, everything gets wrapped around the core, ensuring your clothes don’t wrinkle. A word of caution: bundle-wrapping works best when you’re packing light. </p>

Bundle-Wrap Your Clothes

Bundle-wrapping refers to a packing method in which you start by making a bundle “core,” like a pair of socks bundled in a shirt, and then layering longer garments 180 degrees from each other. You then lay out shirts vertically and pants horizontally until all your garments are laid out.

Finally, everything gets wrapped around the core, ensuring your clothes don’t wrinkle. A word of caution: bundle-wrapping works best when you’re packing light.

<p>Is this really bad, though? Do we always want to have to put on a tie? Maybe we can thank the millennials for this one. Workplace attire becomes more casual as millennials influence corporate culture, advocating for work-life balance priorities and a less rigid dress code. This fosters a more comfortable and relaxed professional environment.</p>

Fold Clothes With Tissue Paper

If you’re unconvinced by the rolling or bundle-wrapping methods, you can still fold your clothes without wrinkling them. Use tissue paper on top of your flattened garment and then fold it as usual.

The tissue can prevent creases and wrinkles from folding and works great with formal clothes and delicate fabrics .

<p><a href="https://wealthofgeeks.com/the-ultimate-family-packing-list-for-vacation/" rel="noopener">Packing</a> cubes are amazing for organizing your luggage and saving space. These small fabric containers can hold different types of clothing or items. They can help you pack more efficiently, find what you need easily, and avoid wrinkles or creases. You can find affordable packing cubes at various places. Online marketplaces like Amazon, eBay, and Walmart often offer budget-friendly options.</p>

Pack With Packing Cubes

Packing cubes work great for delicate items, protecting them from other garments and items in your luggage.

For best results, unpack the cubes as soon as possible and expose them to steam using the tip above about hanging them in the bathroom while you shower.

<p><span>Amidst the anticipation of traveling, certain items tend to slip through the cracks while packing. We’re here to remind you of the often underestimated things globetrotters should consider tossing in their suitcases for a smoother journey.</span></p>

Use the Right Suitcase

You also need a suitcase with multiple compartments and padding to keep your clothes wrinkle-free.

The sturdier and more structured it is, the less likely your garments will move around during travel and accidentally rub against each other, creating creases and wrinkles.

<p><span>Most mistakes aren’t as costly- figuratively and literally- as travel blunders. Sometimes, travel mess-ups are out of our control; other times, you want to build a time machine to stop yourself from doing something stupid. Members of a travel forum took to the internet to share some of their worst travel mistakes. While terrible, some of their stories are downright hilarious. </span></p>

Layer Heavy Items at the Bottom

To avoid clothes getting crushed and pushed into each other, which is the perfect recipe for wrinkles, make sure your heavy items, like shoes, are at the bottom of your suitcase .

You can stuff them with belts and socks to avoid them being crushed by the items going on top.

<p>Finally, the best way to avoid all the drawbacks of using the hotel iron we mentioned above is to <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/travel/advice/2019/06/14/unpacking-hacks-take-stuff-out-your-bags-leave-stuff/1447050001/" rel="nofollow noopener">unpack your luggage</a> as soon as you check in. While procrastination is understandable when traveling, your clothes will look amazing if you take this small step before you move on to the more enjoyable parts of your stay.</p>

Unpack as Soon as You Check In

Finally, the best way to avoid all the drawbacks of using the hotel iron we mentioned above is to unpack your luggage as soon as you check in.

While procrastination is understandable when traveling, your clothes will look amazing if you take this small step before you move on to the more enjoyable parts of your stay.

<p>Discussions about places to visit in Montenegro tend to begin with Kotor, and it is easy to see why. Kotor packs plenty into its relatively small borders, with a proud maritime history allied to modern cafes, restaurants, and bars, plus some of the most alluring churches in this part of the world. Stop for a romantic courtyard lunch at Pržun before taking the arduous walk up to the fortress walls, where the ultimate view of the Bay of Kotor awaits.</p>

Some reviewers recommend sizing down, unless you're tall!

Promising review: "The pocket in front is very handy. It feels like I'm wearing nothing. The overalls are light and flow-y. The fabric quality could be better — it may not last long, but it's inexpensive. I get so many compliments when I wear them. I wore them for plane travel and on the beach in Maui and Mexico and were perfect for all. Would I purchase again? Hell yeah. Size down possibly, they are slightly large." — Jamie Pauluk

Get them from Amazon for $23.99+ (available in sizes S–3XL and in 17 colors and prints).

Promising review: "I travel a lot and now won't get on a plane without wearing them . They are comfortable and thick enough and they have a deep pocket on each side. I put my boarding passes, ID, and credit cards in one pocket, and my phone and ear piece in the other so I'm hands free and can put my purse in my carry on without having to open it. The leggings look great with tunics or longer tops/sweaters and boots. They're also great for road trips and of course everyday use. I have them in navy, brown, and black so far. I also have the shorts version in pink and light blue to go under sundresses in the summer. I highly recommend these leggings." — JoJoBrew

Promising review: "LOVE THIS DRESS. I was hesitant to buy this because it was for a vacation. Because it's made of rayon, I was concerned about how well it would travel. I shouldn’t have worried. I iron a LOT of our clothes, but I can honestly say that this dress came out of the suitcase really nicely. I just hung it in the closet and the few wrinkles fell away. I wore this dress more on our vacay than any other one because it’s so diverse. Even when it got wet, it dried nicely and quickly. It’s a winner! Will be ordering more soon." — Sheri Terrell

Reviewer wearing the maxi skirt in gray with brown buttons

Promising review : "This skirt is so versatile. I usually have a hard time finding skirts because I have wider hips so skirts that are longer create a weird silhouette. This skirt is not that. I have been able to wear it to work and feel super comfortable. The fabric is sturdy, and it has a little of a wrinkled look so it is great to travel with. I would recommend this skirt to anyone who is looking for some flare in their wardrobe but doesn't want to break the bank. I got this skirt in red and plan on getting it in a few more colors. Also, it was true to size." — Christina

Promising review:  "A friend of mine got this dress, and it looked gorgeous on her, so I went ahead and ordered it. I love this dress, and I am so glad I ordered it. I was really trying to not bring a lot of shoes on my trip (because they take up SO much luggage space), so I decided to bring these and two other pairs. I ended up wearing these every day of the trip and was comfortable the whole time, even the day we walked more than 20,000 steps. I wore them with semi-dressy and more casual looks, and I didn't feel like they clashed with anything. You really can't go wrong with these on-trend shoes.

Promising review: "These shoes are comfy enough to be on my feet for eight hours at a time for work, and they're still stylish. After my first ones lasted me two years, I have come back to buy a second pair. These shoes are definitely more suited for normal to narrow feet, and I wouldn't recommend them if you have particularly wide feet. They are also super easy to clean in the washing machine or with a wet wipe in a pinch." — Ommy

Get them from Reebok for $90 (available in sizes 5–16.5 and in five colors).

BuzzFeed Shopping Editor  Chelsea Stuart  says: "I have this shirt and I *love* it.  All credit for its discovery goes to TikToker  @jennifer.bianca  who I happened to stumble across on my FYP. It checks all my boxes: black, comfortable, versatile, and durable. My initial worry was that I wouldn't feel secure in it (I have a 38DDD chest and most wrap tops/dresses I've tried haven't stayed where they're supposed to), but I haven't had an issue with this! I've worn it tied in the front giving me a square neck (like the middle picture) and tied in the back giving me a V-neck up front (just like the photo on the right) — both were super comfortable, and I didn't have to adjust myself at all. As someone whose weight fluctuates, I also appreciate that this piece can handle pounds gained and lost. The fabric is medium weight, so I'll be wearing it season to season, and there's just enough elasticity in the arms that if you roll up your sleeves, they won't fall back down. All that is to say trust that I will be buying additional colors!"

I wore it to travel in, and I was very happy. It looks great, too — the little peekaboo under the bust is just perfect. It stays tied if you knot it well. Promising reviews:  "I really like this skirt. Great quality…I ordered it twice just because I wear it so much for work and travel. It fits true to size. The color, material, fit, and style did not disappoint. I highly recommend!" — Dione

"Love, love, love this skirt!! I would normally wear a medium, but after reading some reviews about how small it ran, I ordered one size up. When I took it out of the bag today and looked at the waist, it looked so small I thought, NO WAY! But, the fabric is so soft and has so much give that it was fine. In minutes, I felt like I was walking around in my PJs! Yes, it’s THAT comfortable! From the side the fit is very close; it looks like I’m wearing leggings. If you think this would feel or look too tight for you, I would try two sizes up rather than one, although the thigh and leg area is the part of the skirt that fits the closest. But, I’m fine with it, and my husband said I look 'great' in it — sleek and well-dressed but not too sexy which was what I was going for since I’ll be wearing it to church! Came back online just now to order more in different colors but decided to write this review first!" — Lisa S.

Travel + Leisure / Daisy Rodriguez

Nothing detracts from a good travel outfit quite like a tangle of wrinkles running across your shirt, but when you’re shoving clothing into packing cubes and aiming to squeeze as much into your suitcase as possible, it can be difficult to sidestep that reality while traveling. Well, unless you know what materials to look for, that is.

This spring, we’re making sure that you can do away with wrinkles permanently while you’re on the go — and no, we don’t mean by turning to the questionable iron tucked into your hotel room closet. After scouring the internet for sleek styles made of materials that resist wrinkles like silk, polyester, lyocell, and wool, we’ve rounded up the 10 best wrinkle-free tops to pack while traveling, from brands like Madewell , Everlane , Vuori , and more. And with prices capping at $96, you can bid wrinkles adieu at any budget.

J.Ver Women’s Wrinkle-Free Dress Shirt

Sometimes, a simple button-down is all you need to feel sophisticated and well-dressed in a pinch, so this $25 top from Amazon is an excellent selection for work trips and even a nice dinner while remaining wrinkle-free. The blend of cotton, polyester, and spandex is the key for maintaining its uniform shape even after folding this shirt and tucking it away into your suitcase, and with 35 colors and patterns to choose from, don’t be surprised if you end up circling back to grab another shade later this season.

Shewin Women’s Casual Floral Print Blouse

Nothing says spring quite like a bold floral top, so it makes sense that this flowing bohemian-style blouse quickly became a best-seller at Amazon . The relaxed, comfortable fit is endlessly flattering, while loose sleeves won’t ever feel restrictive during sightseeing days and beyond. Plus, this shirt is so lightweight that it will hardly take up any space in your suitcase, and with a wrinkle-free finish, you don’t have to worry about looking disheveled or messy — even when you are getting dressed in a rush.

Everlane The Mini Jacquard Stripe Top

Earthy tones are forever a classic regardless of the season, so if it’s a flattering tee that you’re on the hunt for, this brown striped top from Everlane will fit the bill. Featuring a boxy, slightly oversized silhouette, this relaxed-fitting top will look great paired with anything from a maxi skirt to a simple pair of slouchy jeans. Versatile and wrinkle-free? You won’t find many shirts better than that.

Madewell Long-Sleeve Popover Top

Anyone who thinks that a simple white blouse is boring clearly hasn’t laid their eyes on this ethereal top from Madewell that’s easily dressed up or down for any occasion that might arise during your travels. Currently double discounted to just $56 the code FORYOU , this top is practically begging to be added to your closet for spring, so you never have to worry about packing a portable steamer or using the hotel iron again.

And if you’re feeling in the mood to splurge on a lookalike style, the Aday Slim Something Borrowed Shirt is designed with a similar feel, but it features a stretchy and breathable material that was specifically created not to wrinkle.

Babaton Utility Shirt

Multi-purpose layers are a cornerstone of spring travel style, and this casual utility shirt from Aritzia is a top pick for this role. Not only can this shirt be buttoned up and tucked into a pair of trousers, but it can also be worn loose and unbuttoned over a plain white tee for a day of sightseeing in fluctuating temperatures. The army green shade is perfect for transitioning from winter to spring weather, but if your wardrobe is calling for something different, don’t worry — there are 20 other colors to choose from.

The Group by Babaton Destination Longsleeve

It’s always a good idea to invest in elevated basics, and this well-made long sleeved top from Aritzia is the perfect base layer for any outfit you put together this spring. The slim-fitting crew neck cut captures a classic style that’s universally flattering, while lyocell fabric resists wrinkles for a refined look every time you slip it on. Best of all, it’s ultra-soft and cozy, so if you’re looking to level-up your travel day style, this top is a great place to start.

Abercrombie The A&F Mara Denim Vest

Abercrombie & Fitch

t’s no secret that denim doesn’t wrinkle, so if you’re hoping to add fun flair to your spring outfit lineup, why not start with this sleek and fun twist on the menswear trend ? This button-down top is currently available in three shades (traditional denim, black, and cream), but all are versatile and endlessly cool when paired with a matching bottom, flowy skirt, or trousers. In short, the outfit possibilities are endless with this wrinkle-proof vest.

Abercrombie Merino Wool-Blend Slash Top

Wool is a reliable material to look out for if you’re aiming to reduce your collection of wrinkly clothing, and there’s no better top to shop for brisk spring days than this effortless merino wool-blend piece from Abercrombie that’s currently on sale for just $49. The delicate, lace-like pattern adorning the entirety of the sweater adds a touch of femininity to any outfit, while the fuzzy texture will feel gentle against the skin — even after a full day of wearing it. Not to mention that the neutral shade will pair easily with even your boldest bottoms, making this a more stylish neutral piece than a simple plain tee.

Madewell Silk Muscle Tee

Short-sleeve weather is right around the corner, and this silk muscle tee from Madewell is a great pick for showing off your arms without needing to wear anything too tight while you’re on the go. Right now, the three available shades are on sale for just $75, and the relaxed fit of this top is practically made for long travel days when you want to look put-together without sacrificing comfort. The fact that it doesn’t wrinkle is just icing on the cake.

Vuori Long Sleeve Halo Crew

We can’t blame you if your go-to travel outfit is an oversized sweatshirt and leggings, but may we suggest a slight elevation to this look in the form of this stylish crew neck from Vuori? The ultra-stretchy and breathable material is ideal regardless of the temperature that you’re traveling in, while a cropped fit is slightly more flattering than your typical sweatshirt. It’s safe to say that this top brings all the comfort of a hoodie but with the style of a typical shirt, landing in the perfect spot between loungewear and your new go-to sightseeing outfit.
