Amazing Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam 18 days

My wife and I had been wanting to do a tour of Indochina for some time and were struggling with the planning until we made contact with Cherry Wei. She has provided an excellent service with great advice and a willingness to make changes to customise the trip to our requirements. We are travelling from the 9th of November until the 1st of December and have absolute confidence that we are in good hands. It has been a pleasure to work with Angie and we would highly recommend her to future travellers.

Endless Beauty of Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand - 19 Days Tour

Endless Beauty of Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand - 19 Days

Doing this fully immersive tour ensured we saw a lot more than we would normally. The English speaking guides were all excellent and the points of interest all relevant and worthwhile. We saw a lot but the balance between “on tour” & “ downtime” was just about right. The communication with our assigned representatives was spot on and timely. We would recommend this tour if you want an experience where the tour operator takes the strain, transfers & transportation and hotels all sorted. All we had to do was stay in touch with our representative and show up on time.
  • Book With Flexibility This operator allows you to rebook your dates or tours with them for free, waiving change fees.

Glimpse Of Indochina In 16 Days (Vietnam,Cambodia,Thailand,Laos) Tour

Glimpse Of Indochina In 16 Days (Vietnam,Cambodia,Thailand,Laos)

We just got home from our getaway to SE Asia and could not be HAPPIER! I'll admit that initially I was a bit skeptical about booking this trip through an online company site, but my concerns were quickly erased. Everything about this adventure was so well thought out and so well organized. Thank you so much to Long Pham with Realistic Asia. His constant communication via WhatsApp was so helpful. Realistic Asia is the local tour company that assisted us throughout every step of our adventure. Long was so attentive to every need. His constant contact was so appreciated. Contact that began well before we left. His guidance and question answering were all so helpful. We never had to worry about a thing. All ground transportation needs were provided, and the vehicles were beautiful. He also arranged for our flights from the different countries while we were there. *We booked our own flight from and back to US because we had miles to use. As we transferred from SE Asian countries throughout our trip Long would contact us the day prior to tell us the name and phone number of the tour guide meeting us at the airport or picking us up at the hotel/s. All of the locations in the itinerary were terrific - and if we wanted to edit/add to the itinerary we were able to do so in advance of the trip. There was even a day that a flight was delayed significantly. Due to that delay, we would have gotten in to our hotel too late for an early am tour. Long rearranged things for us for the next day to accommodate a change of schedule. The guides at each location were exceptional! So knowledgeable, friendly, and spoke English beautifully. I feel like we even made new friends with a few of them. Each of our hotels were awesome places to stay. Long was able to determine which kind of hotels met our needs best by asking about our needs, preferences, budget, etc....*Note: we did choose to upgrade to 4-star hotels and additionally to a 5-star resort in Phuket for our last hotel. (We added on three days in Phuket to our itinerary.) It really was a tailor-made getaway, and we are so happy that we trusted Tour Radar and Realistic Asia by booking this marvelous vacation with them. We will tell all of our friends to check you out and will looking forward to utilizing your services again in the future.

Spirits Of Vietnam - Cambodia - Thailand In 16 Days Tour

Spirits Of Vietnam - Cambodia - Thailand In 16 Days

Spirits of Vietnam Cambodia Thailand is a great tour. Realistic Asia that organises this tour and provides support to participants are amazing. As a an older solo traveller it can be daunting to travel to countries where the language is unfamiliar. The agents from Realisic Asia made contact prior to my travel date with helpful hints and recommendations. This support was offered throughout the journey. Lady HUONG was particularly helpful. She went above and beyond to assist me and also gave me a lovely tour of the markets late one afternoon which was not in the itinerary. My every question and request was dealt with promptly and satisfactorily. The itinerary was great and the additional experiences offered of high value. I particularly enjoyed the cooking class in Hoi An. The drivers and guides provided were helpful and knowledgeable. I can highly recommend Realistic Asia. My only concern is the way TourRadar markets the tour. I expected to be part of a group which would enable me to share my experiences and maybe even make some new friends. Instead I travelled totally alone the whole time and if not for the support offered by Realistic Asia this would not have been an experience I would look back on with pleasure.

Epic Asia Tour

The 38 day trip was amazing. Met so many amazing people, it was literally a once in a lifetime experience. The group leaders in each country were Great. The Cambodia section was also very special as Intro used a local Cambodian guide to take care of us for the 10 days. This took the trip to a new level. Thanks Sokha :) I’ve booked another 3 trips on the back of this one, can’t wait to explore more of the world.

Vietnam, Laos & Thailand: Riversides & Railways Tour

Vietnam, Laos & Thailand: Riversides & Railways

I absolutely loved my time with Sovann on my first ever independent trip to a third world country. The itinerary was well structured and we were kept up to date so no one was ever out of the loop. Our group had a range of people from 18 to 32/34 years old - Sovann managed to keep us all interlinked with activities and options that were suitable for all. I was impressed with his passion , and despite being away from his family for so long , Sovann was always a cheerful and entertaining addition to our trip. Having been my first real trip overseas to foreign lands I was VERY nervous , although during the trip thanks to its well planned nature and hospitality shown to me by Sovann and the locals of Vietnam, Laos and Thailand my worries were put to rest. Can't wait for my next G Adventures trip.

Indochina Delight with Thai Beach Escape 16-Day Tour

Indochina Delight with Thai Beach Escape 16-Day

The trip was well organised and even when I encountered a couple of issues on the trip, these were quickly rectified by Legend Tours. One thing I did not expect is that I booked a group tour, however, upon arrival, I was told I would not be in a group tour, but alone with a different tour guide each day. This was disappointing, as a solo traveller, I wanted to make friendships and have company during the free time.

Discover Indochina: 10-Day Private Expedition (Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand) Tour

Discover Indochina: 10-Day Private Expedition (Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand)

Danke

21 days Thailand, Laos, Vietnam & Cambodia

Our 21 day tour was excellent. We were picked up at the airports, the hotels etc spot on time. Our guides (particularly Ann) were amazing. They were so accommodating. Because there were only two of in our group we were able to see and do so much more. We went to several villages, went to numerous schools, went to lotus farm, etc etc etc. the accommodations were fine, rooms clean and beds comfortable. I would not hesitate to travel with Hoi An express in the future

Amazing Vietnam & Cambodia & Thailand ends Bangkok (4 Star Hotels)

This trip was amazing and you do a lot in three countries but 16 days is too much with out barely any free days, I would have liked a few more free days to relax and take it easy. otherwise the trip and stays were pretty amazing.

So glad we chose Bravo Tours in Indochina
We were extremely pleased with this tour. The guides were awesome, the transortation was confortable and the accommodations were more than adequate. There was great communication from start to finish. I highly recomment this tour and this tour company.

Bangkok Grand Palace - photo by Niko Virtanen

  • The Grand Palace. This large complex of temples and royal residences houses Wat Phra Kaew, which is also known as the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. Open from 8:30am until 3:30pm with a 500 baht entry fee for non-citizens, it’s best to visit the Grand Palace as early as possible to avoid the large crowds that can show up later in the day.
  • Wat Pho. Home to a 160 foot reclining Buddha statue, Wat Pho is best visited directly after the Grand Palace. Wat Pho is home to one of Thailand’s most famous traditional massage schools, making it a great place to stop for a break after morning sightseeing.
  • Wat Arun. Located across the Chao Phraya River, Wat Arun (or the Temple of Dawn) is a 17th century structure located right beside the water. The temple is easy to access via the cross-river ferry, which stops at Tha Tien Pier.
  • After a morning of palaces and temples, you can stop for lunch at Thip Samai Pad Thai , Bangkok’s most famous Pad Thai shop, or enjoy a high-end international lunch with a view of Wat Arun from Sala Rattanakosin Eatery And Bar .
  • For a great Thai lunch with equally good views of Wat Arun, stop by The Deck , which is a short walk from Sala Rattanakosin.

Aloft Hotel, Sukhumvit, Bangkok

  • Shopping Malls. Bangkok has a great selection of shopping malls, most of which are located around Siam and Chit Lom BTS stations. Siam Paragon and Central World offer the largest selection of mid-range and high-end shops, while the MBK Centre is popular for cheap smartphones, tablets, cameras and other consumer electronics.
  • There are also several high-end malls in the area. Central Embassy is a great place to shop for luxury fashion and home items, while Gaysorn is Bangkok’s premier high-end fashion mall.
  • Jim Thompson House. Designed by silk industry entrepreneur Jim Thompson in the 1950s, this traditional Thai house is filled with antiques and rare items. The house is open to visitors, with guided tours of its living quarters and gardens available.
  • Erawan Shrine. This small shrine to Brahma (or Phra Phrom, as the deity is known in Thai Buddhism) is located just across the street from Central World and is a popular place for locals to pray for good luck.
  • Night Bike Tour. After a morning of shopping, one of the best ways to see another side of Bangkok is on a night bike tour. Grasshopper Adventures offers a night bike tour that travels through Old Bangkok and past temples, flower markets and quiet alleyways.

Your third day in Bangkok is a great chance to see a quieter side of the city that most tourists never experience. If you’re itching to get to the beach, you can also leave Bangkok a day early to enjoy some extra time on an island or at a coastal beach resort.

  • Khlong Tours of Thonburi. Thonburi is the part of Bangkok located west of the Chao Phraya River — a quieter, more relaxed part of town than Bangkok’s city centre. The Small Teak Boat Canal Adventure offers a trip through the canals of Thonburi that offers a look at everyday life in the quieter side of Bangkok.
  • Chinatown. Bangkok’s Chinatown is bustling and busy, with a huge range of tiny shops selling everything from gold, silver and other precious metals to souvenirs and toys. It’s also a great place to enjoy authentic Thai and Chinese food. There are several street food markets around Chinatown, as well as restaurants like Hua Seng Hong and stands like Fikeaw Yao Wa-Rat serving cheap and tasty Chinese food.

Thailand has a huge variety of different beaches, ranging from coastal towns close to Bangkok to remote, quiet and undeveloped islands. We’ve listed all of Thailand’s best beach areas below, letting you choose the best destination for your needs and tastes. Each destination has a Quick Guide covering the best hotels, things to do, dining options and transportation tips.

Hua Hin, Thailand at dawn

  • Hua Hin is a relaxing, convenient beach resort located less than three hours from Bangkok by car, bus or minivan. While the beaches here aren’t spectacular, the city has a relaxed, friendly atmosphere and plenty of fun attractions that make it a good choice for families.
  • Our Quick Guide to Hua Hin covers everything you’ll need to plan your trip to Hua Hin, with specific hotel, attraction and dining recommendations.

Thailand Holiday Essentials

  • Where To Stay In Thailand: See our guides for the best areas and the best hotels to stay in Bangkok , Phuket , Koh Phi Phi , and more .
  • Things To Do In Thailand: Check the huge lists of activities in Bangkok , Phuket , Koh Phi Phi , and more – that can all be booked online.
  • Thailand Packing List: Don’t forget any of the essentials with our comprehensive Packing List For Thailand .
  • Flights To Thailand: Find the cheapest seats to Bangkok from dozens of airlines. Also check domestic flights to Phuket and Koh Samui .
  • Thailand Airport Transfers: Book an airport transfer for hassle-free arrival at your hotel in Bangkok and Phuket .

IMG_0730

  • The easiest beach resort to access from Bangkok, Pattaya is less than two hours from Bangkok by taxi. Compared to other seaside towns in Thailand, the beaches around Pattaya aren’t very impressive and the somewhat sleazy nightlife means this isn’t a great destination for families.
  • Still, if you’re travelling on your own and want a fun, cheap and convenient place to stay by the beach for a few days, Pattaya can be worth a visit. Our Quick Guide to Pattaya includes all of the best hotel, attraction and dining recommendations for Pattaya and its surroundings.

Paradee

  • Koh Samet is the closest real island to Bangkok, accessible in about three hours by private taxi and speedboat. The beaches here are a huge step up from Pattaya and Hua Hin, with far fewer people and less development giving the island a laid back, relaxing vibe.
  • Because Koh Samet is close to Bangkok, it can get crowded on the weekend. If you’re visiting on a Saturday or Sunday, it’s best to book your accommodation as early as possible to avoid missing out on hotels to weekend visitors from Bangkok.
  • Like Hua Hin and Pattaya, we have a Quick Guide to Koh Samet that covers all of the island’s essentials, from the best resorts and hotels to restaurants and more.

Koh Tao, Thailand

  • Koh Chang is another island that’s easy to reach from Bangkok by bus, although it’s quite a lot further away than Koh Samet at approximately five hours from Bangkok. If you’re looking for an island that offers a mix of convenience and unspoiled beaches, Koh Chang is a good option.
  • Big, beautiful and relatively undeveloped compared to islands like Phuket and Koh Samui, Koh Chang is a great place to spend three to four days. Just make sure you’re aware of the weather before you book your trip, as Koh Chang gets particularly wet during the rainy season.
  • Our Quick Guide to Koh Chang includes everything you need to know about the island, from the best hotels and restaurants to transportation options from Bangkok.

Phuket, Thailand

  • Thailand’s largest and most popular island, Phuket has everything from heavily developed resort areas to quiet, peaceful and amazingly beautiful beaches. It also has its own airport, letting you fly in directly from Bangkok and avoid a long bus or taxi trip.
  • Phuket has a huge variety of different beaches and areas, ranging from nightlife hubs to quiet and largely undeveloped beachside towns. It’s also where you’ll find the best selection of luxury and mid-range resorts in Thailand.
  • Like the other islands, we have a Quick Guide to Phuket that covers the island’s best beaches, things to do, places to stay and dining options.

Railay West Beach, Thailand

  • Located east of Phuket, Krabi Province is home to some of Thailand’s best beaches and most impressive coastal scenery. Ao Nang is the main tourist destination in this part of the country, while Railay is famous for its limestone cliffs and laid back atmosphere.
  • Krabi Province has its own airport, with direct flights from Bangkok departing often. If you’re looking for stunning beaches and don’t want to deal with a long ferry trip or bus ride, Krabi is tough to beat as a destination.
  • We have several travel guides for Krabi Province. Our Quick Guide to Krabi Town covers the area’s main town and the area surrounding Krabi Airport, while our Ao Nang and Railay Beach guides cover Krabi’s two main tourist destinations.

280717 samui

  • Another popular destination, Koh Samui is home to some of the best beaches in the Gulf of Thailand and a great selection of resorts to suit every budget. It also has an airport, meaning you can fly in directly from Bangkok and avoid having to deal with buses and ferries.
  • Like Phuket, Koh Samui offers a range of experiences. There are heavily developed beaches with resorts, bars and nightclubs to choose from, as well as a variety of quiet beaches that are perfect for families and couples seeking peace and tranquility.
  • Our Quick Guide to Koh Samui covers all of the island’s best areas, things to do, hotels and dining recommendations, as well as transportation options from Bangkok.

Koh Phangan

Koh Phangan, Hadrin west

  • Famous as Thailand’s party island, Koh Phangan offers a mix of world famous parties and laid back beaches. Unlike Koh Samui, there’s no airport here (although one is currently being built), meaning you’ll need to take the ferry from Koh Samui or Surat Thani to reach the island.
  • Compared to Koh Samui, Koh Phangan has a more laid back feel. Aside from the area around Haad Rin, which is where you’ll find most of the island’s parties, it’s a chilled out destination with plenty of areas of interest for families and couples.
  • Our Quick Guide to Koh Phangan lists all of Koh Phangan’s best beaches, hotels and dining options, as well as how to get to the island from Surat Thani and Koh Samui.

Northern tip of Sairee Beach

  • Thailand’s diving capital, Koh Tao is a tiny island located north of Koh Samui and Koh Phangan that’s gained fame as one of the world’s cheapest places to learn to dive. It’s also home to a few great beaches, making it worth a visit for non-divers seeking a fun place to spend several days.
  • Koh Tao is a lot smaller than Samui and Phangan, with most of the island’s areas of interest a short walk from each other. It’s also become something of a backpacker hotspot over the last few years, with a great selection of beachside bars offering cheap drinks and fun parties.
  • Our Quick Guide to Koh Tao covers all of the island’s highlights, from beaches and areas of interest to hotels, restaurants and transportation to and from the island.

Beach on island Ko Lanta

  • Just over an hour from Krabi Airport, Koh Lanta is a quiet island that offers a more relaxed and peaceful experience than most destinations in Southern Thailand. The island is visited by a tiny fraction as many people as Phuket, making it great for anyone seeking peace and tranquility.
  • Koh Lanta offers direct access to some of Thailand’s best diving and snorkelling sites, making it a great option for diving enthusiasts. It’s also home to some of Thailand’s best beaches, making it worth adding to your “to visit” list if you just to relax, swim and work on your suntan.
  • We have a Quick Guide to Koh Lanta that lists all of the island’s best beaches, things to do, hotels and places to eat, as well as information on how to get to Koh Lanta from nearby areas like Phuket and Krabi.

Sunrise on Koh Yao Noi (2007-03-004)

  • Located in the middle of Phang Nga Bay, Koh Yao Noi and Koh Yao Yai offer some of the best sea views in Thailand. They’re also easy to access from Phuket and completely unspoiled by the mass development that’s affected some of Thailand’s other beach areas.
  • If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing and peaceful place to spend some time with your partner or family, Koh Yao is worth considering. Koh Yao Noi, the smaller of the two islands, is where you’ll find most of the area’s resorts and things to do.
  • Our Quick Guide to Koh Yao covers the best accommodation options, things to do and dining recommendations on both islands.

Koh Jum

  • Another small and largely undeveloped island, Koh Jum is a peaceful destination that’s located between Ao Nang and Koh Lanta. If you want to experience Thailand as it was 25 or 30 years ago before mass tourism took hold, you’ll love Koh Jum’s quiet beaches and bungalow resorts.
  • Our Quick Guide to Koh Jum covers everything you need to know about the island, from its best luxury resorts and budget bungalows to restaurants, things to do and how to get to Koh Jum from Krabi Airport.

Ho Chi Minh City

  • Ben Thanh Market. Built in 1912 during Vietnam’s period as part of French Indochina, this central market is a good place to shop for clothes and souvenirs. It’s worth haggling here, as most of the vendors will drop their prices by 20-40% if you ask.
  • Reunification Palace. Previously the Presidential Palace of South Vietnam, this 1960s building was converted into a museum showcasing a variety of important spaces used by the former Vietnamese leadership.
  • War Remnants Museum. This museum of the Vietnam War features captured planes, tanks, helicopters, artillery and other equipment. There are also several detailed photo exhibits inside the museum documenting the Vietnamese and international experiences during the war.
  • Saigon Skydeck. Located inside the futuristic Bitexco Financial Tower, this viewing area offers great views of central Ho Chi Minh City and the Saigon River.
  • Cu Chi Tunnels. This incredible network of tunnels was used as a secret base by the Viet Cong during the war, particularly for the 1968 Tet Offensive. Today, the tunnels are open to the public and make a great half-day trip from Saigon.

Days 10 to 11: Hoi An

Riverside view, Hoi An, Vietnam

  • Hoi An Old Town. Hoi An’s historic old town contains more than 800 historic buildings, ranging from shophouses to beautiful pagodas. The Japanese Covered Bridge and Precious Heritage Museum are two of the Old Town’s must-see sights.
  • Beaches. There are two beaches in Hoi An, both of which are fairly uncrowded and easy to access. An Bang Beach is the most popular of the two, while Cua Dai Beach is usually less crowded.
  • Tailored Clothing. Hoi An is famous for its tailors, many of whom can put together high quality clothes in just a few days. While two days isn’t quite enough to get a suit, you’ll be able to order shirts, tops and other items from some of the city’s tailor shops. Some of Hoi An’s more popular tailors include Bebe ClothShop , Kimmy Custom Tailor and Yalo Couture , which all score well in reviews from travellers and expats.

Halong Bay

  • Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. Open since the mid-1970s, the Ho Chi MInh Mausoleum is the resting place of Vietnam’s revolutionary leader. The building contains Ho Chi Minh’s embalmed body, making it an interesting and somewhat morbid place to visit.
  • One Pillar Pagoda. Located close to the mausoleum, the One Pillar Pagoda is a historic temple that’s an icon of Vietnamese history. The temple was built in 1049 at the request of Emperor Lý Thái Tông and rebuilt after suffering damage in the First Indochina War.
  • Hoan Kiem Lake. Located close to the Old Quarter, this beautiful lake contains a small island with Ngoc Son Temple, also known as the Temple of the Jade Mountain . One of Hanoi’s most popular scenic areas and sightseeing spots.
  • Hanoi Old Quarter. Famous for its small, crowded alleyways and colonial shophouses, the Old Quarter of Hanoi is an exciting place to shop for souvenirs or enjoy a meal in any of the area’s small restaurants and cafés.
  • Temple of Literature. One of Hanoi’s most impressive historical areas, the Temple of Literature & National University was built in 1070 in honor of Confucius, scholars and sages of Vietnam. The temple is one of Hanoi’s top historical tourist attractions.

Day 2 : Bangkok – Full-day City tour & Evening Cruise Dinner

Morning After breakfast, meet your private guide and head to the historic center of Bangkok and start your day at Wat Suthat . A few visitors come to this temple early, so much the better to enjoy the monks’ melodic chanting ritual. It’s an incredible sensory experience. Then, take a short walk through small alleys with wooden houses and guardian spirit signs to visit the Wat Pho , where you can see the image of Reclining Buddha is 15m high and 43m long with his right arm supporting the head with tight contorts on two box-pads of blue, extravagantly encrusted with glass mosaics.

Make a stop at Lak Muang , Bangkok’s city pillar, well worth a five-minute detour before continuing onto the site the Thai people consider the most sacred in the Kingdom: the  Temple of the Emerald Buddha  and the renowned  Grand Palace . This is one of the most beautiful examples of an ancient Thai court, with several grand halls in the same compound.

Enjoy a delightful Thai lunch, take in the scenic views at the Deck by Arun Residence restaurant, and experience the mid-day bustling atmosphere of the lively Chao Phraya River . After lunch your driver will drop you off at your hotel where you have some rest and avoid the midday heat.  You may pamper yourself at the  hotel’s  S om Sen  Sp a , enjoy its attractive Thai’s ancient spa traditions.

Afternoon Take the public ferry to visit the Temple of Dawn (Wat Arun) , which you will probably recognize from its famous silhouette. The local story goes that the shards of pottery decorating its 79 m tall spire came from a nearby shipwreck 100 years ago.

Your trip continues with a long-tail boat ride along the canal to see Thai houses and typical rural life. This boat tour takes you through its canals, locally known as Khlongs to explore greener and more peaceful parts of Bangkok.

End your day with a visit Wat Triamit , one of the most famous temples in Bangkok and is known as the Temple of the Golden Buddha (the statue of Buddha is made from solid gold weighting 5.5 tons).

Evening E mbark on a luxury barge journey into Thai culture and the Thai hearts. Enjoy a fine dining, traditional and culture tour on the only original antique teakwood rice barge on the famed Chao Phraya River . Experience first-class Thai hospitality and delicious food from around Thailand in the comfort and tranquility of the luxury, open-air cruise.

Arrive in time at  the open-air Mae Klong Market , (the World’s Most Fascinating Railway Market) to witness markets and vendors clearing up their stalls when a train pulls through the market; truly a unique scene!.

Following the train market, take a short drive to the pier where you will embark on a boat trip along the canals and backwaters. This leads you to the first main attraction of the Damnoen Saduak Floating Marke t. Spend some time walking the canal sides observing this fascinating waterborne market in progress. First stop, in short, in a market that is open early in the morning – where monks already receive offerings and where you will buy offerings. Not far from there, you will surprise the barely awake little who devote themselves to the first prayers in a magnificent wooden temple in the heart of the moat.

Continue to drive up to  Wat Phra Thad Doi Suthep (AD 1384), located on the top of the mountain. Without any crowds, you can enjoy the magical morning light and the beams of sunrise brighten the Golden Pagoda. Take a chance to attend the monks’ ceremonies and have the privilege of seeing an original food offering – Tak Bat, a ritual performed by monks for hundreds of years for spiritual redemption. At the top of the temple, a viewing platform offers panoramic views of the whole Chiang Mai City – take in the wonderful countryside landscape while the sun rises behind the city and mountains.

On your way down, pause at Wat Palad , a temple of forest monks that will give you the most beautiful memory. It’s a hidden gem that we’re unveiling here. Then get back to the hotel for breakfast, and relax for the rest of the morning.

Afternoon You will drive around the Old City to see the city’s moat and old city temples. Start your afternoon tour Chedi Luang Temple , built sometime between 1385 and 1402, is a distinctive feature of the Chiang Mai skyline. At its peak, the chedi measured 60 metres across at the square base and 80 metres tall and was once the home of the Emerald Buddha, Thailand’s most sacred religious relic.

Continue to visit Wat Phra Singh , which was built in the year 1345. This temple contains marvelous examples of Lanna art, including a Lanna style viharn and the finest scripture repository of its type in the north.

The tour comes to an end with a visit to Wat Suan Dok , which means ‘field of flowers’. This temple is one of the first temples with a large viharn, or prayer hall. This chapel is unusual not only for its size, but also for the fact that it is open on the sides rather than being totally enclosed.

Reviews on Our Service

We are committed to giving our customers unforgettable experiences in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and beyond, not just something staged for tourists. Read reviews written by our customers about their experiences in Indochina after they have returned home. These include the ratings and comments on attractions, guides, activities, hotels and food.

The purpose of our trip to Vietnam was to see the areas where husband/father was during the Vietnam War.

Booking our Vietnam trip through Asia Pioneer Travel was such an easy process. Chloe worked with me to make sure our trip was what our family wanted. Everything was catered to our preferences and scheduled with such detail. Chloe was so easy to work with and was always available for questions despite the time difference. She handled everything for us; all we had to do was book our international flights. We were met at the airport and driven to our hotels at every location. Our tour guides picked us up every morning and our itinerary was planned out so that we were able to visit north, central and south Vietnam. Pretty incredible for a ten -day trip. Our tour guides were knowledgeable and friendly. Thank you again Chloe, Eric, Tony and Yen and our drivers.

Unforgettable last minute trip in North Vietnam and Cambodia and amazing agent (Ms Cherry)! 100% recommended!

I had a wonderful time in Vietnam and Cambodia! It was easily one of the favorite trips I have ever had. Every sight and experience was worth it, people everywhere were nice, I loved the food and I always felt extremely safe everywhere and anytime. I decided to leave very last minute and wasn’t sure I would be able to plan everything in time. I reached out to a few agencies, but Asia Pioneer Travel was the only one who really made the effort to help me book the trip I was looking for! Ms Cherry was an amazing agent! She was able to plan everything in very a short notice and was also able to make adjustments to the itinerary to accommodate my wishes! She was also checking on me via WhatsApp during the trip and met me in Hanoi, making sure everything was going well. I have already recommended Asian Pioneer Travel to friends who are thinking about a trip there and I will most definitely reach back to them for my next trip to Asia!

As with other parts of Asia, i assume traffic is a nightmare, and walking or crossing streets should be done with the upmost caution. I am wondering though if theft (petty) and pick pockets are an issue as in many places? I use my Iphone 15 as my camera, and in other places ive traveled, ive been told thats easy pickings for a grab and run theft. Should i use something different to take pictures?

I booked my hotel as part of a package and ill be staying at the Night Hotel Bangkok - Sukhumvit 15 , but im worried this may be a bit too far from the main attractions. Not much i can do now, but i was wondering. I'm looking forward to visiting the major Temples, Street food markets, and other attractions, and am not too familiar on the best way to get around sols. Is the MRT , BTS the best way to get around, or a cab app like Grab?

I have day group tours scheduled to visit the main temple attractions and palace, and a seperate one for street food toours, as i dont feel too comfortable wandering on my own. Is it easy to get disoriented in Bangkok? I typically get around places using Google Maps, but ivbe found them to be unreliable in certain parts of the world.

Any tips or advice woud be appreciated.

When booking hotels always book within walking distance to a BTS or MRT station as this is by far the best way of getting around with the huge traffic conjestion in Bangkok. Both BTS nd MRT are cheap clean and easy to use.

Don't worry too much about getting disorientated in Bangkok the city has taxis and motorcycle taxis everywhere so if you get lost just grab a cab back to somewhere you know. When you check into your hotel grab a card at reception with the name and address on.

Don't sweat, Bangkok is huge, but it's a low stress experience.

thailand and vietnam trip

Overthinking and worrying a bit to much I think.

Would not be the area I would stay but as you say that is done now.

Its easy to "get around" dont worry

Wanting to have temples, street food markets, lower Suk is not the right area for you. Stay near the river as posts #3, 4 and 5 suggest.

"Any tips or advice woud be appreciated."

I think you have a good location. Easy access to cheap city rail service. But depends on what you want to do during your evening hours! If you are older, maybe retired staying near the river so you can walk to some historic locations during the day may work out for you. What do you intend to do in your evening hours? Camp out in your hotel room watching the TV?

The area you have for your hotel is convenient for walking to nightlife, malls, street vendors, restaurants cheap transportation.

There are many posts that explain how to get from airport to hotel. Posts that explain how to change your currency to Thai baht, how to use ATMs and general advice for using meter taxis.

* Before you use taxis read some of many hundreds of posts for how to do it. (You use Thai baht, have small bills and even some coins. Pay the meter fare.) Read some of the many posts first!

Safety. Probably safer than Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles. If you normally walk around playing with your phone, some kid might run off with it like back home. No matter where you are pay attention!

Thailand is easy to do on your own. Many retirees visit Thailand and some really stupid kids just out of school too! Bangkok is easy to do!

Visit a library and check out a book or two for Thailand. Learn how to say hello and thank you goes a long way too! Easy to change most currencies in Thailand. No old printings, no writing on the bills, no rips or tears, no dirt, etc. (Do not travel with a single debit or credit card! You could lose a card, the ATM could eat it, you could damage it.)

Traffic is bad in Bangkok but much improved with the BTS and MRT. Compared to Vietnam it's a world of difference. Bangkok is much more developed and many of the large intersections have overpasses and the smaller intersections have traffic lights. Unlike Hanoi /Saigon where you have to do the street crossing dance with the motorbikes, lol.

Google Maps seems to be very accurate in Bangkok. I wouldn't worry one bit about bringing your iPhone 15. Most Thais have a cell phone. I always bring my latest phone without worry. I've never heard of a cell phone being snatched from someone in Bangkok like you hear of in other SEA cities. Use typical precautions in tourist popular areas.

Be aware that it's going to be very hot in Bangkok during your visit. Bring light clothes and be sure to keep hydrated. A swim and a nap in the late afternoon will be pleasant.

The on off ferries are a great way to spend a day seeing bangkok.

See our in-depth Southeast Asia tour for inspiration .

Southeast Asia offers great value for money. That's one of the reasons it's so popular. In Southeast Asia, a private tour is an affordable luxury.

Our private tours offer you customized options for couples and families (with our one-to-one travel consultant, you can always get in contact to make changes whenever it is convenient for you), more personal space, a more in-depth and less-touristy experience (different to group tours), and a worry-stopping contingency service (24-hour helpline and free cancellation policy ).

  • A typical private tour costs around 200–250 USD per day per person (including airfares within Southeast Asia, 4-/5-star hotel, lunch, attractions, guide and transfers).
  • US$ 250–350 per day per person is needed for the most luxurious arrangements (all the above with 5+ star hotels).
  • 30%–50% off for each kid younger than 10 years old

Thus, for a private family trip with 2 adults and 2 kids, the average cost for a 3-week trip in Southeast Asia would be about 14,000 to 16,000 USD. International airfares are not included.

For a couple, the average cost for a 3-week trip in Southeast Asia would be about 8,500 to 10,000 USD, not including international airfares.

Best Times to Visit Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam

Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam enjoy similar climates because of their close proximity. November to March is the best time to visit with the most sunny and dry weather. Hotel and flight prices rise accordingly however.

One of the busiest times is around Christmas/New Year holiday  when hotels and flights are easily booked up. Due to the high demand, you're suggested to prepare your tour at least 3 months in advance. Let us know your interests and requirements , and we'll take care of everything.

If you want to enjoy nice weather without being surrounded by crowds , late October or early April are particularly good times to visit (the times just before and after the peak season).

June to early October is the rainy season in most parts of Southeast Asia. It may cause some discomfort and inconvenience, but lower prices and smaller crowds are the rewards.

See more on our Best Times to visit Southeast Asia, Worst Times, Rainy Season...

Which Country to Enter First?

Flying to Vietnam or Thailand first is usually the most choice, because Cambodia has fewer options for international flights than the other two countries. But Cambodia offers easy access to/from Thailand and Vietnam, so it's good as the middle country.

Thus, the travel route usually goes Vietnam–Cambodia–Thailand or Thailand–Cambodia–Vietnam.

Going to Thailand or Vietnam first may depend on plane ticket prices, the flight situation from your city, your travel preferences, and so on.

Flights from major U.S. cities to Thailand and Vietnam require transfers. It takes least time to transfer via Taipei, Hong Kong, Singapore, or Seoul.

We would work out the best itinerary to match the time of your international flights, leaving time for jet lag recovery and making sure you start your Southeast Asia trip on the right foot.

Contact us if you have any problems. We will give you the best options and suggestions according to your travel time.

How to Travel between Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam

Flying is the fastest and most convenient way to travel between Thailand (Bangkok), Cambodia (Phnom Penh or Siem Reap), and Vietnam (Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City). There are direct flights for these cities. Each journey takes about 1–1½ hours.

We would arrange all transportation within Southeast Asia for you . Your travel consultant would search the flight schedules and book the most suitable connections for you.

Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam all have relaxed entry policies.

Vietnam requires a tourist visa if you're from the US, Canada, Australia, etc. The most convenient way is to apply for an e-visa online . This is a very simple process that just requires you to fill in some information. If you are from certain European countries like the UK, France, Italy, and Germany, you can enjoy visa-free entry.

Cambodia also requires a tourist visa, which can either be obtained online, or when you arrive at Phnom Penh or Siem Reap Airport.

Thailand allows visa-free entry from 64 countries, including the USA, and the UK, Canada, Australia, Austria, France, Germany, Norway, etc.

If you have any questions or difficulties in applying, you can contact one of our travel consultants here for help.

thailand and vietnam trip

We made a private tour through South China in January 2024. Altogether Chengdu was the highlight. We had an incredible day at Emeishan. In Chengdu our guidewas Helen. She was the diamond of all. Speaking fluently English, full of interesting stories, laughing and talking all the time. We missed her the rest of our tour. We highly recommend to go to Chengdu for 3 days when visiting China, especially with Helen.

thailand and vietnam trip

Other highlights are too many to mention but here are a few Ken taking us to the Terracotta Warriors and our food tour in Xian was amazing,

Our day volunteering at the Panda Base was truly unforgettable. Helen, our guide, provided us with invaluable insights about Chengdu and the pandas, enriching our tour with her knowledge and expertise. We're grateful to Helen for accompanying us throughout the day and showcasing the highlights of China.

We had a booking with China Highlights through Silvia Ye who guarenteed a perfect organisation. In Chengdu our guide was Helen. She was the diamond of all. Speaking fluently English, full of interesting stories, laughing and talking all the time. We missed her the rest of our tour. We highly recommend to go to Chengdu for 3 days when visiting China, especially with Helen.

We traveled to China during the Chinese new year and we had Kris as our guide and he is simply knowledgeable, helpful and great.

We visited Guilin for 2 days and stayed in the Guilin Waterfall hotel. Guilin was absolutely beautiful! Our guide, William, was very knowledgeable and kind! He taught us so much about Guilin and the surrounding area! We really enjoyed trying the specialty rice noodles of Guilin. Our highlight was the Li river cruise.

Amazing tour and the guide Mr. 贺霄 was very accommodating with our needs and request as we have bought our 2 years old with us. Well explained for all the place we visited. Any additional cost were informed well ahead and didn't felt any pressure if we opt not to go for additional detour. The trip was relaxing/ laid back/no rushing with zero shopping!

We had an amazing to China. Our tour guide Martin in Shanghai was super knowledgeable, caring and very flexible with our itinerary. When my wife got sick in the Shanghai, he was able to arrange an English-speaking doctor on the spot and took us to the clinic. On top of the that, Martin and the driver stayed with us at the clinic for the whole duration and drove us back to the hotel afterwards. His genuine concern for our welfare and willingness to go the extra mile did not go unnoticed, and we were deeply touched by his kindness and compassion.

Guilin, but mostly Yangshuo was at the tail end of our China adventure so there was a lot to live up to. Having a guide like Gary Wei meant that our trip ended on a high! We arrived in Guilin very late from an 11 hour train journey. Gary met us with gifts of fruit, sweet bread and cakes which was so unexpected and thoughtful.Gary's knowledge of the area was exceptional and his attention to us the same. He really took our children under his wing - even tuning in to annoying sibling rivalry and managing to keep the peace very well! Gary was our personal photographer at times and even our Taiji instructor, making a beautiful video of us all doing Taiji in a scenic setting :)The cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo is definitely worth taking and we enjoyed our few nights in the area, riding bikes along the river, doing a cooking class and enjoying the scenery
