Visits to the Danbury Railway Museum is one of the top activities to explore around Danbury.

This railway museum is located in the former Metro-North Railroad Union Station and operated from 1903 to 1993 before being replaced by a new station.

The Danbury Railway Museum was established to document the history of railroading in Danbury and the surrounding region.

It is housed in a historic railway station in the east part of town.

Most of the museum’s highlights include model train layouts, galleries brimming with antiquated photos, and several relics.

Not to mention, a 6-acre rail yard filled with vintage railroad machinery, some of which has been restored.

Model train layouts enhance the Richardson Romanesque design of this structure.

If you love trains, the station and the event in the railyard would be appealing to you.

More interesting items you’ll find include certain antiquities and more than 70 pieces of historical equipment.

Besides, the Boston & Maine 1455 Steam Engine and even more current train sets are on display.

The Danbury Museum & Historical Society , which comprises five unique historic structures, is a must-visit for anybody interested in learning about Danbury’s past.

It provides all the knowledge you could ever want about Danbury’s past at your fingertips.

It’s an amalgam of five separate historic buildings and is situated on Main Street.

Some of its major structures are The Little Red Schoolhouse (18th century) and the John Rider House (1785).

Even the famous Marian Anderson Studio, the John Dodd Hat Shop (1790), and lastly Huntington Hall are among these significant buildings (1963).

Huntington Hall, which is accessible from Tuesday through Saturday, has the majority of the museum’s exhibits and displays.

Not only is it the final structure, but was constructed to house the office space, gift store, and library.

A little further down the hall is where the majority of the exhibitions and displays are set up.

There, you may discover more about Danbury’s history, characteristics, and culture.

On Saturdays, you will find guided tours of the other structures.

However, in 2019, there was a well-attended exhibition called “Driving Danbury Forward.”

This display described how automobiles and other forms of transportation influenced urban lifestyles and activities.

The Hat City Ball, a unique fundraising event conducted each January, is also open to guests.

There’s also an open bar with tasty cuisine.

You would be wise to appear at any point in the spring, summer, or fall.

Nevertheless, whenever you come, you’ll enjoy the place thoroughly.

The 888-foot Bear Mountain Peak is part of the 140-acre Bear Mountain Reservation, which has a number of wonderful trails for guests to enjoy.

It is just in the city’s north and has a variety of fun pathways for your enjoyment.

These pathways circle and nicely link to one another.

Some of them are simple to hike through, while others might be a little more challenging.

A look will give off the fact that most of the trails are easy or somewhat strenuous.

Besides, since several of them loop around and link with one another, it’s quite beautiful to behold.

The Orange Trail, a narrow walk that descends to Candlewood Lake’s coast and offers stunning views of the lake, is the sole exception.

You would like the gorgeous lake views and the 1.7-mile Red Trail, the longest of the region’s color-coded paths.

However, if you want, you may arrive in your car since there is an ample parking lot accessible.

There are also some shaded picnic places where you can unwind.

Go hiking around this highly scenic spot or just wait to see the sunset in all of its beauty.

The greatest golf course in Danbury, according to reviews, is yet another superb course.

Richter Park Golf Course, an exquisite 18-hole golf course with 14 water elements, was created by golf architect Edward Ryder.

It is situated near the West Lake Reservoir and right by the water’s edge.

Its 18 holes are all par 71.

A challenging one too, with the green being effectively covered by 49 bunkers, and astonishingly 14 of them having water elements.

Although the course is available to the public, all participants must wear appropriate golf apparel and provide their own set of clubs, which may be leased on the property.
