Kings Wharf cruise port

Region Bahamas - Caribbean - Bermuda

Local Time 2024-03-28 12:38

Port Kings Wharf cruise ship schedule shows timetable calendars of all arrival and departure dates by month. The port's schedule lists all ships (in links) with cruises going to or leaving from Kings Wharf, Bermuda. To see the full itineraries (ports of call dates and arrival / departure times) and their lowest rates – just follow the corresponding ship-link.

King's Wharf cruise port (aka "West End", fka "Royal Naval Dockyard") is located on Bermuda Island's westernmost tip. Port's main cruising season runs from early-April through mid-November. This is the time when at Kings Wharf dock Bermuda's largest cruise liners with regularly scheduled roundtrips from homeports in the USA.

The building of this nay complex started right after the Napoleonic War. Its purpose was to serve as a British military outpost. In 1957, after the US Military had established its presence. The facility was turned into a tourism destination with shops, museums, restaurants, theater, craft market and center for arts.

Royal Naval Dockyard Bermuda (HMD Bermuda) was the British Royal Navy's principal base in the Western Atlantic in the period 1775-1947 - or between the American Revolutionary War (1775-83) and the Cold War (1947-91). The port was used as a provisioning station for many European sailships en-route to/from North America (the New World) after the settlement was established by England in 1609.

French privateers used the surrounding isles as staging sites for pirate operations against the Spanish galleons during the entire 16th century. In 1818, the Royal Naval Dockyard became the British Navy's headquarters for North America and West Indies. After 1957, when most of the navy base was closed, it gradually degraded, mainly due to lack of maintenance and sea storms causing damages to the buildings. In the early-1980s Bermuda started to develop its tourism industry. During that time, the Naval Dockyard was renovated and turned it into a tourist attraction.

Currently, large cruise ships dock regularly at Bermuda's Naval Dockyard (Kings Wharf) during summer. Smaller passenger ships berth here the whole year-round. WEDCO (West End Development Corporation) was established in 1982 as quango (semi-public administrative body) to oversee the development of former Admiralty lands on Boaz, Ireland, and Watford islands.

To serve foreign visitors, several former warehouses were reconstructed into art shops. A pedestrian mall was opened in the clock tower building. Also here are the Bermuda Maritime Museum and the Dolphin Quest (water attraction), several restaurants. Port's new (second and larger) dock was inaugurated in April 2011 and has capacity to handle the world's largest passenger ships .

In 2018, Disney Cruise Line booked its maiden season in Bermuda with MS Disney Magic . The ship was scheduled to dock in King's Wharf via 5-day roundtrips from NYC New York . These voyages were themed as "Halloween On The High Seas Bermuda Cruise", with departure dates October 4, 13 (6-day), 19, 24 and 29. Walt Disney passengers enjoyed 2 full days in port, while the 6-day itinerary offered 3 full port days. MS Disney Magic was scheduled to arrive in Kings Wharf at 11 am and depart at 3 pm.

For season 2020, the cruise port had 159 ship calls (booked berthings) - out of 197 total to Bermuda. In 2019, the country handled 185 cruise ship calls, of which 156 were at Royal Naval Dockyard.

Following the Coronavirus crisis, for summer 2021 (June through August) RCI-Royal Caribbean scheduled for the liner Vision of the Seas Bahamas cruises leaving roundtrip from Bermuda. The 7-day itinerary (roundtrip from King's Wharf/first-time for RCI) included 2 seadays (towards the Caribbean) and visiting CocoCay Bahamas , followed by 2 seadays before the arrival in Bermuda.

Bermuda Cruise Port Guide | 7 Best Things To Do In Bermuda Port

Warwick Long Bay Beach in Bermuda

Welcome to Bermuda cruise port!

Bermuda, the shipwreck capital of the world, is located in the North Atlantic Ocean and not in the Caribbean Sea as many think. It is a British Island Territory known for its perfect blend of British and American culture, soft sand pink beaches, stunning marine life, and a golfer’s paradise.

With its capital city and the main seaport Hamilton, Bermuda is a top cruise destination welcoming around 150,000 visitors each year. In this Bermuda cruise travel guide, read about:

Bermuda Cruise Port

Cruise ships dock at the Royal Naval Dockyard which consists of two terminals: King’s Wharf and Heritage Wharf , both located next to each other. Large cruise ships dock at King’s Wharf, a naval dockyard, ferry, and cruise ship terminal. Smaller ships usually dock at Heritage Wharf.

The historic areas, museums, shops, and restaurants are located within a short walking distance from the piers. There is a small terminal building with a Visitor Centre and there is often free wifi available.

Getting Around & Local Transportation

There are different ways to get around Bermuda. If your ship stays in port longer than a couple of hours, your best choice is to get a bus/ferry day pass , as it is more convenient and economical. You can get a 1-day pass or a multi-day pass.

You can use a 1-day pass across all transportation zones for both buses and ferries. If you decide to use the ferry/bus once or twice, then it will be cheaper for you to get a token. Day passes and tokens can be purchased at the tourist information center near the cruise terminal.

To get to Hamilton, take bus #8 in front of the Clock Tower Mall building approximately a 5-minute walk from the cruise terminal. Check the bus timetables and fares on the Government of Bermuda’s official website

Sea Express is a company that operates water ferries that are a quick and convenient way to get around the island. There are four different ferry routes: Blue Route, Pink Route, Green Route, and Orange Route. The closest ferry station is only a couple of minutes’ walk from the cruise terminal. Check out/download the Bermuda Ferry schedule

  • Blue Route will take you to/from the Royal Navy Dockyard to Hamilton and the ride takes around 20 minutes.
  • Orange Route is available only during summer months to/from the Royal Navy Dockyard to St. George and the ride takes around 45 minutes.
  • Pink Route (Hamilton – Paget- Warwick) and Green Route (Hamilton – Watford Bridge – Cavello Bay – Rockaway) are also available but commonly used by commuters.

There is an official bus/ferry ticket kiosk right at the terminal , and here you can get your tickets (however, if you want to buy more than a 2-day pass, you need to go to the post office or get it in Hamilton). Transportation tokens can be also paid directly on the bus or ferry but you will need to have the exact fare in change.

Taxis in Bermuda are metered but not cheap and are the best option at night when the bus and ferry services are reduced. Taxis are either cars or small vans that can accommodate between 4 – 7 people. If you would like to hire a taxi per hour, it is also possible and rates are stipulated by the government. Wheelchair-accessible taxis are also available but limited.

The taxi station at the Royal Navy Dockyard is located right outside the cruise terminal and a ride to Hamilton City takes 20-25 minutes (subject to traffic). Read more about Bermuda taxi fares here

There is a free trolley service from the ship through the Dockyards at King’s Wharf. It is very convenient for people with walking difficulties as it makes several stops along the way so you can hop on/hop off. It allows you to easily access some of the Dockyard’s restaurants and places of interest, however, they operate every 10-15 minutes and might be crowded.

Bermuda Port – Useful Info

  • The port area is neat, well-organized, and wheelchair accessible.
  • Visitors are not allowed to drive in Bermuda, therefore there are no car rentals on the island .
  • Scooters are popular amongst visitors and rental places are available all around. Honestly, I do not recommend doing it especially if it’s your first time in Bermuda. If you are planning to explore on your own, please make sure to get yourself familiarized with the Bermuda traffic system and behaviors. Bermuda roads are narrow and winding so always wear a helmet and bear in mind that riding a scooter in a foreign country might be a little risky. Also, keep in mind that Bermuda is a British Overseas Territory, and people drive on the left side of the road.
  • The official currency in Bermuda is the Bermudian Dollar (BMD; symbol $) and 1 USD equals 1 BMD. US dollars are widely accepted on the island, however, make sure you get the change in dollars as cruise lines do not offer exchange service for Bermuda currency.
  • Bermuda has a mild, semitropical climate with little rainfall during the year.
  • L.F. Wade International Airport is Bermuda’s only international airport and is located 34 km/21 miles (a 55-minute drive) from the Royal Naval Dockyard cruise terminal.
  • Cruise lines sailing to Hamilton Bermuda include Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, Carnival Cruise Line, Disney Cruise Line, Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, and MSC Cruises .

7 Best Things to Do in Bermuda Cruise Port

1. king’s wharf.

You can explore the Royal Navy Dockyard on foot, or take a guided tour to learn all about Bermuda and its history. Whatever you choose, below is the list of must-see attractions:

  • Royal Navy Dockyard – The primary base of the British Navy for more than 150 years, the Royal Naval Dockyard is home to numerous shops specializing in handmade goods, arts and crafts.
  • Bermuda Craft Market and Bermuda Arts Center – Great places to shop for authentic handicrafts, handmade jewelry and sea-glass ornaments. They are located less than a 10-minute walk from the pier.
  • Clock Tower Shopping Mall , located across the marina, is another place where you can find interesting souvenirs and specialty stores.
  • For history lovers, the National Museum of Bermuda housed in historic military buildings is a must! You will learn about the incredible, 500-year-old history and culture of Bermuda while exploring exhibits and local art. The museum overlooks the port of Bermuda and offers wonderful ocean views.
  • Snorkel Park – A 5-minute walk from the National Museum of Bermuda, you’ll stumble upon this family-friendly park where you can swim and relax at the beach, snorkel in shallow waters, enjoy water sports (gear rental, kayaks, pedal boats, and jet ski safaris), and park amenities including Hammerheads Bar & Grill.
  • Bermuda Fun Golf – The golf course is located right next to Snorkel Park and offers beautiful ocean views.
  • Dolphin Quest Bermuda – Situated at a stone’s throw from the National Museum of Bermuda, this marine center offers dolphin interaction programs and a fantastic experience for both kids and adults!

2. Crystal and Fantasy Caves

The spectacular cave was discovered by accident in 1907 by two young kids in their search for their lost ball. Take a guided tour of the most famous Bermuda subterranean cavern and admire the marvelous limestone stalactite and stalagmite formations. You can also walk across a crystal-clear underground lake.

To get to the Crystal Caves, take the ferry from the Royal Navy Dockyard over to Hamilton (20 minutes) and then take bus #1 or bus #3 to the caves (30 minutes).

Visitors must be able to navigate and climb 81 steps inside the cave. Unfortunately, this attraction is not wheelchair accessible. Non-slippery footwear is recommended.

3. St. George’s Town

Located on the east end of Bermuda, the town of St. George’s is the oldest British settlement in the New World. This UNESCO World Heritage site was founded in 1612 and was Bermuda’s capital city until 1815.

Stroll through the cobblestone streets of St. George’s to Kings Square , explore the oldest fort, Bermuda Heritage Museum , St. Peter’s Church , and roofless ruins of the neo-Gothic Unfinished Church .

To get to St. George’s town from the Royal Naval Dockyard, you can take the Orange Line ferry that will take you directly to St George’s Market Wharf, located only a few minutes’ walk from Kings Square. You can also take Bus Routes 1, 3, 10, and 11 from Hamilton Central Bus Station to St. George’s, and the ride takes approximately 1 hour.

4. Snorkeling and Scuba Diving

There are numerous shipwrecks and colorful coral reefs around the island boasting incredible wildlife teeming with parrotfish, turtles, butterflyfish, and snappers. Many of those reefs are located in shallow waters allowing you to snorkel from the beach, yet my best snorkeling experiences have been from a boat.

Sail across the Great Sound bay , snorkel and dive around the shipwrecks of the Constellation and Montana , and explore the wreck of the Sea Fern located inside the Nonsuch Island nature reserve.

Besides snorkeling and diving, you can go helmet diving, snuba, paddleboarding, kayaking and so much more! If you rather choose to stay dry, you can admire the colorful reefs and wrecks through the many glass-bottom boat tour options.

5. Gibb’s Hill Lighthouse

Constructed in 1846, Gibb’s Hill Lighthouse is one of the oldest iron-cast lighthouses in the world. Learn about the history of Bermuda and the construction of the lighthouse through the different exhibitions you will encounter as you climb up the 185 steps to the balcony.

From the top, you can admire magnificent 360-degree views of Southampton Parish and the West End. In the lighthouse area, you will also find a restaurant, golf clubs, and several beautiful beaches including Horseshoe Bay and Sinky Bay Beach.

The view from Gibbs Hill Lighthouse Bermuda

Gibb’s Hill Lighthouse is located around 15 km/9.5 miles from Kings Wharf Bermuda. To get to the lighthouse, take bus #8 from the Royal Navy dockyard to Hamilton and get off near Henry VIII restaurant, from where there is a 5-10 minute trek to the lighthouse.

Another option is to take bus #7 from the Dockyard to Hamilton and get off at Waterlot Inn restaurant bus station, from where you need to walk 10-15 minutes. Unfortunately, there is no elevator at the lighthouse.

Check out Gibbs Hill Lighthouse tours

6. Golfers’ Paradise

Bermuda is a popular destination for golfers, and it is not a surprise as the island has the largest number of golf courses per square mile in the world. There are 9 golf courses on the island and the following ones are the top 3 choices:

  • Mid Ocean Golf (18 holes) – Located in St. George’s parish, a clifftop Mid Ocean Golf is ranked the #1 Golf course in Bermuda and one of the best in the world. Mid Ocean is quite expensive compared to other courses and the rate varies depending on the time of the year. Due to the popularity of this golf course, reservations should be made as much as 3 months in advance. To get there, you can take the Orange ferry line from the Dockyard to St. George’s and then take bus #1 to the golf club.
  • Tucker’s Point Golf Club (18 holes) – Located in St. George’s parish, the golf club is part of the Rosewood Resort and offers great ocean views and the harbor. Reservations should be made at least 48 hours before your visit. From the Dockyard, you can take the Orange ferry line to St. George’s and then take bus #1 or bus #3 to the golf club.
  • Port Royal Golf (18 holes) – Located in Southampton Parish, this golf club is well-known for its spectacular ocean views, green lush scenery, and oceanside cliffs. It is recommended to make your reservation in advance. From the Royal Navy Dockyard, you can take bus #7 to Hamilton and get off at the Middle Road stop.

7. Bermuda Beaches

Bermuda is well known for its famous pink sand beaches and azure waters. Most of the swimming beaches are located on the south shore of the island while on the eastern side of Bermuda, you can experience some snorkeling and diving.

7.1. Horseshoe Bay Beach

Nestled on the south shore, in Southampton parish, Horseshoe Bay is probably the top-rated tourist destination in Bermuda famous for its beautiful soft sand beaches and picture-perfect setting. Surrounded by picturesque limestone cliffs, this horseshoe-shaped pink beach is great for swimming and snorkeling, so you should expect large crowds during the summer months.

Amenities like umbrellas and snorkeling equipment are available for rental, but you can bring your own towel as well. You can get some food at the nearby bar-restaurant if you get hungry, and for those enjoying scenic views, there is a jogging path that leads to the cliff with spectacular views.

With its crystal clear water and powdery sand, the beach is friendly for both adults and kids. To get to the beach, take bus #7 from Dockyard to Hamilton via the south shore beaches and the trip should take around 25 minutes.

Explore Horseshoe Bay tours and activities

Horseshoe Bay Beach in Bermuda

7.2. Church Bay Beach

This snorkel paradise is located in a peaceful sheltered bay on the South Road in the Southampton parish, only a 5-minute drive from Horseshoe Bay. It has a small sandy beach tucked in Church Bay Park, a great diving and snorkeling spot. However, beware because the water on this beach is deeper than other beaches in Bermuda.

The water can be choppy sometimes, it’s rocky and it’s got seaweed, so it’s not really recommended for small kids. The beach is off the beaten track and has no amenities on it, so don’t expect crowds. It can also be challenging for people with walking difficulties as there is a long wooden stairwell down to the beach.

To get to Church Bay Beach from Bermuda cruise port, take bus #7 from Dockyard to Hamilton via the south shore beaches and the trip should take around 25 minutes.

Church Bay Beach in Bermuda

7.3. Tobacco Bay Beach

Another amazing location for snorkeling is located in a sheltered bay in St. George’s Parish, on the far east end of the island. This sandy beach is known for its scenic, craggy coastline, great snorkeling, and shallow, clear water.

The beach offers amenities (chair/umbrella rentals, showers, restrooms), water activities (kayaking, paddle boarding), and there is a bar-restaurant nearby where you can get food and drinks.

From Bermuda cruise port, you can take the Orange ferry line to St. George’s and then a 20-minute bus ride to Tobacco Bay Beach from the St. George’s Visitor Services Centre in King’s Square.

Tobacco Bay Beach in Bermuda

7.4. Warwick Long Bay Beach

Located in Warwick parish, this gorgeous pink sand beach is Bermuda’s longest beach and is considered the best beach for snorkeling. The water is a little wavy so I recommend it for experienced snorkelers and strong swimmers as currents can be strong.

There are no facilities on the beach (restrooms are available). The beach can be reached on foot from Horseshoe Bay and is connected via a walking trail to Jobson’s Cove Beach.

To get there, take bus #7 from Bermuda cruise port to Hamilton via the south shore beaches and the trip should take around 40 minutes.

7.5. Jobson’s Cove Beach

This beautiful pink sand beach is located in Warwick Parish and is known as a popular spot for wedding proposals. Jobson’s Cove is a tiny beach that offers calm waters and it’s a great place for swimming and snorkeling. Make sure you bring everything you need as there are no facilities in the area.

King’s Wharf Bermuda

Last updated on February 1st, 2024 at 04:46 pm

Welcome to King's Wharf, a bustling cruise port in Bermuda. Explore the historic Royal Naval Dockyard, where you can visit the National Museum of Bermuda, browse unique craft markets, or even swim with dolphins at Dolphin Quest. Enjoy thrilling water sports, relax on pristine beaches, and savor the flavors of Bermuda's famous rum cake. King's Wharf offers a wealth of activities and attractions for all.

Helpful King's Wharf Bermuda Links

Sub-Tropical, Mild in Winter. May to October temperatures often above 75 F. High humidity in summer

Bermudian Dollar, US Dollars are widely accepted but you will often get Bermudian Dollars in change. There is an ATM located in the Clocktower building and in the Victuals Yard which is within easy walking distance of where the ships dock in King’s Wharf Bermuda.

Wireless Internet:

Free WiFI is available around the Visitor’s Center. Just connect to “Bermuda WiFi” and open your browser. If the Bermuda Tourism Authority page doesn’t come up, type in “login.com” and that should take you to the connect page. The Frog & Onion Pub also has WiFi available with a purchase.

Where You Dock in King’s Wharf Bermuda

King’s Wharf Bermuda is one of 2 ports that receive cruise ships, depending on the size. Small ships will dock in Hamilton Bermuda , while larger cruise ships will dock in King’s Wharf Bermuda, otherwise known as the Royal Naval Dockyards.

When you visit King’s Wharf by cruise ship, you will immediately see The Commissioner’s House sitting high above harbor, within the walls of the arsenal and citadel known as the Keep. It is home to a number of exhibits from Bermuda’s history.

Getting Around King’s Wharf Bermuda

Public transportation in Bermuda is widely available and stops at or near most destinations of note. It is a good idea to buy a transportation pass at the Visitor’s Center located right at the dock, which costs $19.00 and is good for 1 day on both buses and ferries, across all transportation zones.

Multi day passes are also available in Hamilton, but no longer available at the Dockyard. See here for more information. Remember that most locals commute into Hamilton to work, so the buses and ferries are quite busy during morning and afternoon “rush hours.”

The central bus terminal is located on Washington Street in Hamilton , near City Hall and is the hub for the 11 bus routes across Bermuda. Schedules are available at at the terminal wherever you purchase tokens or a transportation pass. Take the times on the schedule as a guideline, not a rule. If you need to be back to the port at a certain time, don’t cut it too close. Hamilton is about an hour bus ride from either St George’s at one end to the Dockyard at the other.

If you want to catch a bus, look for the blue and pink poles along the side of the road. Pink poles are for buses heading to Hamilton. Blue poles are for buses heading away from Hamilton.

If you are looking to just go to the beach, there are designated Beach Express buses within walking distance of the pier. They don’t work on a set schedule but wait until the bus is full before leaving.

Water Ferries

Sea Express is the company which operates the water ferries and they can be a quick way to get from one point of the island to another. Plus, its a nice way to see Bermuda from a different vantage point. There are four different ferry routes, of different colors and they follow the schedule fairly closely.

A water ferry is the quickest way to get from the Dockyards to St. George’s or Hamilton if you are not taking a tour which includes these destinations.

Taxis are available at the Kings Wharf & Hamilton ports, St. George’s and outside of most major hotels and resorts.

Taxi fares are regulated by the government and they do offer tours of the island with prices that start around $40 per person for an hour.

Because the speed limit is only 22mph (the roads can be narrow with lots of twists and turns) you wouldn’t get too far in just an hour.

Usually there is a 3 hour tour minimum. Look for taxis with a blue flag – these have been vetted as qualified tour guides.

You will notice that scooters are a main mode of transportation for locals. While rentals are available around the island, most cruise lines don’t recommend their passengers doing this. It’s an economical way to tour the island, however there can be some crazy drivers and the roads in some spots are so narrow that two vehicles can barely pass each other, let alone a scooter on the side of the road. Plus, because it’s a British Overseas Territory, people drive on the left side of the road.

At Kings Wharf Bermuda and throughout the island, only locals can own or rent cars, primarily because driving can be hazardous, with blind curves and narrow roads, most of which have no shoulders.

There is a free trolley that goes right from the ship through the Dockyards at Kings Wharf. It makes several stops where you can hop on and off. It’s great if you have mobility issues to get to some of the shops or restaurants around the Dockyard, however there are few benches right by the dock and there may be a 10-15 minute wait for the next trolley.

Shopping In King’s Wharf Bermuda

Note that store hours are typically 9am-5:30pm Monday-Saturday and closed on Sunday. If large ships are in port, some stores may have extended hours.

The Dockyard

The Dockyard is located at King’s Wharf Bermuda , which is home to some great shops specializing in arts and crafts. Check out the Bermuda Craft Market , home to locals selling handmade goods. The Bermuda Arts Centre is also home to local artists selling their crafts. The Clocktower building also houses different specialty shops and people selling souvenirs. Check out the Bermuda Fudge Co. & Bermuda Rum Cake Company for some delicious treats.

Front Street

Along Hamilton’s waterfront is a key shopping area, with boutiques and unique shops offering British items. Look for department stores such as A.S. Cooper & Sons (since 1897), or Cooper’s Cachet for jewelry, crystal and high quality clothing. Check out Cecile or Calypso for high end fashion or colorful European style clothing.

Reid Street

Also in Hamilton, Reid Street runs parallel to Front Street and offers department stores such as Marks & Spencer or Gibbons Company which offers duty free fragrances or premium fashions with no sales tax. Visit Benetton or Nine West for high quality fashion.

St. George’s

The Town of St. George’s Bermuda is filled with history, and many different artists have galleries and shops where you can purchase their works of art in various mediums.

It was named after Sir George Somers after he and others were shipwrecked nearby, on their way to Jamestown, Virginia. A few men stayed behind and within a few years, St. George Bermuda became the capital of Bermuda until it was changed in the early 1800’s.

Dining In King’s Wharf Bermuda

Bermuda is not really known for innovative cuisine since most of their food has to be flown in. There are a few local favorites including spiny lobster, Bermuda Rockfish, a black-eyed peas and rice dish called Hoppin’ John, conch dishes and shark hash.

While Bermuda’s restaurants have improved in the last several years, the prices are higher than one would typically pay in the US or Canada. You will also notice that there are no chain fast food restaurants. A Kentucky Fried Chicken managed to set up shop before the government stopped allowing franchise and chain restaurants from outside Bermuda.

Also, since Bermuda is a fairly conservative country, ensure you are wearing a cover-up over a bathing suit. Also, jackets are often required for men during dinner. Ask about the dress code when making reservations.

Although most diners still prefer to tip a small amount if the service is exceptional, there is an automatic 10-17% service charge added to each bill.

What are Disney Cruise Port Adventures?

“Port Adventures” is the name Disney uses for organized off-ship activities. You can always leave the ship for free when it’s in port, and there’s never any charge to explore on your own. A Port Adventure is an optional paid experience that offers a bit more structure to your time on shore.

Whatever you’re looking for — invigorating or relaxing, cultural or touristy, complex or simple, short or long — odds are you’ll find it offered as a Disney Cruise Port Adventure.

How Much are Shore Excursions in the Caribbean, Bahamas, and Bermuda?

There’s a Port Adventure for every budget. You can spend about $18 to rent a two-seater paddle boat at Castaway Cay — or you can charter a private fishing vessel for the day in Tortola, British Virgin Islands for $6,599.

Don’t let the priciest options scare you away. Many excursions fall well below $100 per-person and are quite reasonable.

We checked prices of all excursions Disney Cruise Line offered in the Bahamas, Caribbean, and Bermuda at the time we wrote this article, and here’s what we found:

  • $1 – $49: 103 options
  • $50 – $99: 303 options
  • $100 – $199: 186 options
  • $200 and up: 110 options

There are plenty of great options at each of the price points, and you don’t certainly don’t have to spend a huge amount to have a good time.

If you don’t mind splurging just a little, we’ve found that $125-$250 per person should be enough to buy you a truly unforgettable port adventure in the area. Though you likely wouldn’t want to spend this much in every port, it’s worth considering at least once during your cruise. And you can take heart in knowing that excursion prices in this part of the world are much more affordable than, say, Disney Cruise excursions in Alaska or European cruise excursions.

How to Get Free Excursions on a Disney Cruise

Port Adventures are not included in the cost of your Disney Cruise , but you can still get them for free if you know how.

Book your cruise through a Disney travel agent to earn Onboard Credit  for excursions and other purchases during your cruise.

The Vacationeer offers up to $1,000 in Onboard Credit when you book your cruise through them.

Your cruise won’t cost any more than if you’d booked it yourself , and they don’t charge any planning fees .

When Do You Pay for Disney Cruise Port Adventures?

In most cases, charges for your shore excursion are applied through your shipboard account; you won’t actually pay until you settle your account at the end of your cruise. That’s great news if you’re have an onboard credit from your travel agent, because it means you can use that “free money” toward your excursions.

Now, on to our list.

We’ve picked some of the best offerings at multiple ports and across different price points.

Prices shown are per person unless indicated otherwise. Some offerings may be limited to certain itineraries or times of year.

There are many more offerings and plenty of additional ports. So if you see something that looks almost perfect, you can check out the full list of Port Adventures to find similar offerings with different options, prices, and locations.

Castaway Cay — Best Port Adventures

A Disney Cruise Ship docked in the crystal waters of Castaway Cay

As Disney’s own private island in the Bahamas, Castaway Cay offers an exclusive Bahamian hideaway that’s open only to one Disney cruise ship a day — and no one else! There’s plenty to do for free on the island, but also a wide array of optional paid activities.

Bicycle Rentals (C04)

One of the most popular and cost-effective ways to explore Castaway Cay. Enjoy a one-hour bike rental as you explore nature paths and offshore terrain. Ride along the island’s historic (and historically dubious) airstrip and wheel your way to the observation tower for an elevated view of Disney’s Private Island.

Activity Level: Active

Requirements: Ages 3+

Duration: 1.0 hour

Cost: $13 for ages 10+ $13 for ages 3-9 Rates are per bike, per hour

Castaway Ray’s Stingray Adventure (C13)

Enter the shallow stingray lagoon for an up-close encounter. Using a specially-designed feeding ramp and tray, your guide will show you how to place food just right in your hand to allow a stingray to glide over and gobble up their meal. You’ll also have a chance to pet one of these beautiful, often misunderstood creatures. Then, grab your snorkel to observe 60+ stingrays in a beautiful lagoon. Concerned about safety? Stingrays have no teeth, and Castaway Cay keeps its captive stingrays’ barbs safely (and humanely) trimmed.

Activity Level: Moderate

Requirements: Ages 5+ (ages 5-16 with adult 18+)

Cost: $56 for ages 10+ $45 for ages 5-9

Glass Bottom Boat Scenic Voyage (C11)

Did you know Castaway Cay has a barrier reef? Board a glass bottom boat for a voyage beyond the protected lagoon out to the undeveloped north side of the island. You’ll stay dry as you look down through bottom-mounted windows to discover tropical fish, sea creatures, and the coral reefs that protect the island.

Activity Level: Mild

Requirements: Open to all ages. Limited seats; guests may be required to stand.

Cost: $59 for ages 10+ $39 for ages 3-9 $39 for ages 2 and under

Parasailing (C08)

Meet and mingle with fellow cruisers as you’re divided into groups and board separate boats. Soon, it will be your turn to experience an unforgettable beauty parasailing flight 600-800 feet in the air. You’ll enjoy about 5-7 minutes of flight time before being gently pulled back down to the boat.

Requirements: Ages 8+ (under age 13 must fly with adult age 18+). Age 13-19 must check in with parent/guardian. Must weigh 90-375 pounds. Tandem riders max 375 pounds combined. Tandem ride may be required.

Cost: $129 for ages 10+ $129 for ages 8-9

Do I Have to Book Port Adventures Through Disney?

You don’t have to book your excursions through Disney Cruise Line, but you probably should.

Shore excursions are operated by outside companies which contract with Disney. And it’s true many of them offer a substantially similar experience — often at a lower price — when booked independently. And virtually every port has information booths right outside the dock where you can book experiences directly.

So why “waste money” booking through Disney? There are a few reasons:

Peace of mind

If you’ve booked through Disney, they’ll keep track of your experience from start to finish. This is critical if the excursion run late. Disney will hold the ship to allow straggling tours to return — or pay for you to catch up to the ship at the next port-of-call. If you booked on your own, then you’re on your own.

Flexible Payment and Refunds

Port Adventures booked through Disney are charged to your shipboard account and paid at the end of your cruise. Payment for privately-booked tours is often due in full at the time they’re reserved. Disney’s excursions are also usually fully refundable up until three days before your cruise. Privately-booked excursions might have stricter rules or simply be nonrefundable.

Automatic Adjustments

Excursions booked through Disney Cruises are exclusive to Disney passengers, so there’s no worry if the ship’s schedule changes. If the ship arrives in port late, the tour won’t start without you.

If the ship’s scheduled day in port changes, your tour will be automatically adjusted, too. And if the ship has to completely miss a port for some reason, you won’t have to pay for any excursions booked there.

Extra Magic

Not that it’s a crucial part of the experience, but Disney often nudges its tour providers into providing a few extra touches on their Disney Cruise excursions.

For all of these reasons, it’s often best for you or your travel agent to book your excursions directly through Disney Cruise Line.

Disney Cruise Port Adventure FAQs

Do disney cruises visit disney world.

It’s very rare for a Disney Cruise to directly include time at Walt Disney World. In the past, Disney Cruises from New York visited Port Canaveral and included a one-day Disney world ticket. But that hasn’t been the case for a few years.

You can, however, easily add a Disney World visit immediately before or after your Disney Cruise from Florida . It won’t be included in the cost of your cruise , but you can’t argue with the proximity and convenience.

Disney Cruise Line’s primary home port is Port Canaveral , about 60 miles from Disney World. Orlando International Airport services both destinations. The Disney Cruise shuttle service transports guests between the port, the airport, and Disney World.

Your Disney Travel Agent can help you price out the cost of adding some Disney World time to your Disney Cruise.

Can You Book Excursions Once You’re Onboard?

Port Adventures can be booked onboard the ship, subject to availability. Each ship has a Port Adventures desk.

Do Disney Cruise Excursions Sell Out?

Yes, it’s common for the more popular excursions to sell out well in advance. For the best chance at getting what you want, book as early as possible. There’s no wait list, but you can keep checking to see if space becomes available.

When Can You Book Disney Shore Excursions?

For those cruising with Disney for the first time , Port Adventures can be booked 75 days prior to your sail date. The booking window opens very early — midnight Eastern Time. Your cruise must be paid in full before you can book.

Repeat passengers get an early booking advantage that varies based on Castaway Club level (the number of times they’ve cruised with Disney).

Are Port Adventures Always Guided Tours?

Port Adventures take many forms, and not all of them have tour guides. A few examples include hiring a private vehicle, renting water trikes, chartering boats, or purchasing admission to local attractions.

Are Disney Cruise Excursions Wheelchair Accessible?

Disney’s cruise ships are easily accessible to those using wheelchairs, but the accessibility of experiences offered in ports-of-call can vary. It’s easy to forget that ADA regulations apply only to the United States — it’s the Americans with Disabilities Act — so it can be a bit of a shock when you arrive in another country and find that some areas are not as accessible as one might hope.

That said, Disney now partners with Accessible Travel Solutions to offer wheelchair-accessible Port Adventures in more than 25 countries. Not every excursion will be fully accessible — and while there’s certainly room for improvement — but progress is being made.

Accessible Port Adventures typically include vehicles with wheelchair lifts/ramps, attractions and tour routes with no stairs or with elevators, bathrooms with wider doors, and guides familiar with the needs of guests with disabilities. Disney maintains a list of all its accessible Port Adventures .

Disney Cruise Line reveals new 'Heroes and Villains' themed cruise ship coming in 2025

bermuda disney cruise port

Disney Cruise Line will add another new ship in 2025.

The line will take delivery of the Disney Destiny next year, the brand announced Wednesday.

The vessel will have a “Heroes and Villains” design theme, with the cruise line and Walt Disney Imagineering teams drawing inspiration from “the dynamic duality of every great Disney story, where opposing forces of light and dark drive characters to rise to their purpose,” according to a news release .

Onboard experiences will feature characters from stories such as “Hercules, “The Lion King,” and “One Hundred and One Dalmatians,” though the line has not yet shared additional specifics about the amenities or the ship's maiden voyage. An illustration on the bow will show Minnie Mouse "striking a valiant pose in a heroic ensemble, her cape waving majestically in the sea breeze as she boldly leads guests toward their vacation destinies,” the line added.

“The Disney Destiny will celebrate our most legendary Disney stories and characters, bringing them to life in new and exciting ways exclusively for Disney Cruise Line guests,” Sharon Siskie, the line’s senior vice president and general manager, said in the release. “As we continue to expand our fleet, the Disney Destiny will further strengthen our position as a leader in family cruising as we offer even more ways for families to experience Disney magic and world-class service at sea.”

Are cruise drink packages worth it?: Not necessarily

The vessel will be a sister ship to the Disney Wish and the upcoming Disney Treasure, the latter of which will set sail in December. The cruise line will also add another ship, the Disney Adventure , in 2025, which will homeport in Singapore and mark the brand’s first to sail in Southeast Asia.

Disney Cruise Line continues its rapid expansion with the reveal of the third Triton-class ship name and theme. The ship will be called the Disney Destiny, be themed after heroes and villains and is scheduled to be delivered in 2025.

The cruise line also bought and is currently renovating a partially built ship to be called the Disney Adventure, which will homeport in Singapore. Disney bought the Adventure for a reported $44 million after Genting Cruise Lines fell into administration.

Disney Cruise Line names its newest cruise ship

I t was bound to happen sometime, but Disney Cruise Line waited until its last of three new sister ships to name one Disney Destiny.

The sister ship to Disney Wish, which debuted out of Port Canaveral in 2022 and the soon-to-debut Disney Treasure arriving in Central Florida this December, the third ship in what was originally called the Trident class had its keel laying ceremony Wednesday at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.

It won’t start sailing until 2025, and its home port has yet to be named, but among the details revealed for what will be the eighth ship in the cruise line’s fleet was the theme of the vessel, “Heroes & Villains.”

As such, the filigree artwork for the bow will be of Minnie Mouse wearing a superhero-style outfit complete with a cape.

The cruise line said among the characters from which it will mine features on board will be classic Disney animation films, “The Lion King,” “Hercules” and “One Hundred and One Dalmatians.”

Disney of course owns plenty of good vs. evil intellectual property including Star Wars and Marvel.

“The Disney Destiny will celebrate our most legendary Disney stories and characters, bringing them to life in new and exciting ways exclusively for Disney Cruise Line guests,” said Sharon Siskie, senior vice president and general manager for the cruise line, in a press release. “As we continue to expand our fleet, the Disney Destiny will further strengthen our position as a leader in family cruising.”

Just like Disney Wish and Treasure, Disney Destiny will be powered by liquefied natural gas, a cleaner burning fuel that’s part of the cruise industry’s efforts to reduce emissions.

All three are the 144,000 gross-ton, 1,254-stateroom vessels but still targeting the 4,000-passenger capacity of its older ships, 2011’s Disney Dream and 2012’s Fantasy. The line’s first ships are the smaller Disney Magic that debuted in 1998 and Disney Wonder in 1999. They come in at 84,000 gross tons with 875 staterooms.

The line also is finishing construction for an Asia-bound cruise ship named Disney Adventure that will be the largest in the fleet at 208,000 gross tons.

Disney Wish became the line’s first new ship in more than a decade. It continues to do short three- and four-night Bahamas sailings while Disney Treasure will pick up seven-night trips to the Caribbean.

In addition to obtaining an approved Travel Authorization and providing proof of vaccination, the Government of Bermuda requires all Guests on the transatlantic sailing from Dover to New York, including Guests who have identified as 90-day-recovered, complete an antigen test onboard the ship no more than two days prior to arrival in Bermuda. Guests who do not participate in this testing will be unable to debark the ship in Bermuda. Further details about this testing will be shared onboard.

‪We were PLATINUM cruisers with DCL – I say WERE because despite the new CDC vax guidelines, the MEDICAL EXPERTS at Disney foolishly decided to continue to demand ALL PASSENGERS get a vaccination that doesn’t prevent illness.

Every other cruise line doesn’t. So now they get our business.‬ This is what happens when you think you’re smarter than everyone else. Yet another dumb move, Disney.

' src=

I think you meant to post this to the OTHER know before you go update.

' src=

If you’ve “moved on”, why are you still here following updates related to DCL?

I keep hoping they get with the rest of the cruise industry and stop going through the motions of acting silly. I loved my DCL cruises, but I don’t want to spend thousands of dollars sailing on a “hospital ship” that still acts like we’re in 2021

' src=

There are so many other great itineraries to do other than Bermuda. Why would anyone agree to this when we have better options? Drop Bermuda until the end this. They are the sole DCL destination doing this silliness.

' src=

Even the Premium Cruise Lines, have changed their requirements regarding covid testing/ vaccination. I have no idea why DCL is playing a different field!

' src=

Because they do polling that confirms that people prefer the higher levels of safety than on the lesser carriers. If you do not like it, withhold your dollars! While I will miss the character interactions on the Atlantic crossing, as a Patient 0 on the Trans-Panama cruise from March 2020, I appreciate their not wanting customers to freely transmit it in the D Lounge. Plus, on a RCCL cruise earlier this summer, I confirmed why Disney should feel secure in their positions.

' src=

So, polling is more important than actual Science? Give DCL a few weeks. They will change like all the other cruise lines…

Agreed. However, if they decide to go against the world and become the only cruise line that caters exclusively to the “I got my 15 shots!” crowd, as sad as it will be to no longer cruise with DCL they will have made their choice.

Good for you! That’ll show ’em, if you deprive these health conscious people of your grumpy, coughing company!

Except I’m not sick. I’m assuming you’re one of the “Everyone’s got the plague but me!” folks? Sad. Good luck with your next 12 rounds of “boosters,”next month though! LOL

Yeah, I don’t know what that means. Do you? I’m saying that Disney peforms genuine market research and then uses math AND “actual science” to extrapolate a model that tells them what the public thinks so they can make decisions that will balance the health and happiness of their employees and customers. Meanwhile, the crazies extract facts and science from their posterior.

As for your contention that they will shortly change, of course they will adapt, as they have 25 times since the outbreak. That doesn’t make you Nostradamus to “predict” that. I recall a bad decision maker in the White House back in March of 2020 who predicted the imminent demise of the Cornonavirus. When confronted with that quote a couple of months later during a raging pandemic, he essentially said, “Well, eventually it will go away,” as though the public was dumb enough to not comprehend the concept of recorded video. All I can tell you is that every single fool who predicted that Disney would shortly change their minds lost that bet. Nonetheless, I’m sure you will be right and your people will carry you on their shoulders as a soothsayer. In the meantime, I’m going to keep moving forward and work in the real world. You should vote with your wallet and live in whatever world conforms with your rantings, if you believe that will bring you joy. Being on a ship without cranky people will bring me mine.

Oh, this is now a Trump thing. So it’s not that you have a stake in DCL cruises, you’re just an angry dude looking to take a break from your regular Reddit rants. ???

We regular folks may get back on Disney Cruises eventually. They just need to hear from our wallets that we don’t live in 2021 anymore.

' src=

@Andrew. Totally agree. People like Brad know they are in the minority on this. We’ll be back. I promise.

' src=

Brad is most definitely not in the minority. It’s just the anti-science people like to yell their anti-science from the roof tops. His post was one of the best I’ve seen on this blog. I, and many others, are quite happy to have less plague rats sailing. The anti-science crowd is probably part of the same group who have been boarding sick for years without caring about anyone else but themselves and getting other people sick.

“Plague rats?” LOL That LITERALLY tells me everything I need to know about you. I’m assuming you’re triple-masked and sextuple vaccinated? ???

Andrew, I don’t know why it bothers you one way or another what someone does to protect themself. The worst thing that happens if people place societal needs ahead of their own (like the Greatest Generation once did before screwing up with the Boomers) is that nobody died and we lost some time. A million Americans have died and you seem to be laughing at the bare minimum any of us should do in their honor. I don’t know what it is that hurt you so much, but you are clearly damaged and I’m going to pray that you seek the help you need and eventually find something in your life to make you truly happy. Good luck on your journey.

OK, let’s go with “follow the science” then. The CDC just dropped everything concerning Covid. Everything. The so-called “science” says, game over.

Marc, are you having a stroke? CDC is absolutely overhauling things because the US has the highest death rate of any country on the planet and the plans to change are an acknowledgement that they made many mistakes. But to suggest they dropped “everything concerning Covid. Everything.” is plain nuts.

The biggest problem they encountered was something they warned about measles for a decade. With the slow rise of parents not giving the kids the MMR, the vaccination rate required to contain measles was approaching the 90% threshold required to contain it. Enter Covid-19 and the spread continues because people without any of the spirit of brotherhood we saw during WW2 are keeping that rate below 80%. Science can be confusing, so let me put this in firefighting terms. The best firefighters cannot control a fire if someone keeps leaving cans of gasoline where they are trying to contain it.

I get that there are people that don’t believe in science or medicine, whether it’s about masking or large groups or vaccines. Sometimes, our best interpretation of the evidence in front of us leads us to stupid conclusions. But honestly, science (and this virus in particular) doesn’t care what you believe in. And just to tie it all together, apparently DCL doesn’t either.

Marc, I truly don’t know what you mean about “people like Brad,” but we all need to be students of history and phrases like that almost always lead to war and/or bloodshed. Moreover, I promise you know very little about me and if we bet on where I stand on most positions based on your preconceptions, I would almost certainly own your house. That said, if you predicted that I would then give it back to your kids because children shouldn’t pay for the sins of their fathers, you’d be right on that one.

And yes, Kreskin, if you have a completely open window and grovel at the feet of Chapek for any scrap he will toss you, you are absolutely right: you’ll eventually be back. Might be years of your misery, though. If you don’t feel like waiting that long, step up and declare the date that your patience ends and stick to it. That’ll show em all! Bwah-ha-ha-haaaaa!

' src=

Mr. Jorban, what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Marc, is your issue about what you label “idiotic” a personal copyright infringement? And, most of us think you know exactly what you mean when you try to isolate and talk about people like them. You poor, tiny, little man!

Andy, I don’t know what you mean by “Trump thing.” That guy is his own dangling, miniscule Trump Thing. My point was that if you don’t draw a line in the sand and use quantitative statements, eventually “Next year, the Sox win the World Series” will ultimately come to fruition. (Took Boston EIGHTY-SIX years!) So, if you want to be a squish and refuse to say what your deadline is, eventually you will likely wait them out. But just think of how many cranky posts you can write in the meantime.

As for not being a stakeholder, I guess your rage obscured your seeng a post above where I state I’m on the Atlantic crossing in September. Regardless, I don’t know the relevance, Andy. If you are saying that you have to have money in the game to have a voice, for god’s sake, be a man and follow your own rules. Either give DCL your money (proving to them that they don’t need to listen to you to get your dollars) or recognize that you have no “stake” in this conversation and pipe down. Or… understand that one doesn’t have to think in black and white terms. Two disparate thoughts can be held at the same time. The world is a much more interesting place than you seem to be giving it credit for, Andrew. I hope you can find your joy again.

Bradley, your unfunny and crude Trump joke in your opening sentence informs about the quality of person you are. You’re not worth any more of my time.

I do truly hope you get over your fear of the world at large. It’s not that bad a place.

I agree. You can’t reason with unreasonable people.

In this information age, ignorance is a choice. Brad’s choice is obvious.

Andy, I can accept that “unfunny” is in the eye of the beholder, but “crude?” The person on whose behalf you chose to take offense used more offensive language publicly than all previous presidents combined. He laughed about raping women and grabbing them by the genitalia. I guess my only fear is that fools will now hear my crude joke and insist I lead the nation. Unlike that guy, with his double digit IQ, I know my limitations and would never take the job.

And again, poor Andrew, I’m embarking on a 12-day DCL cruise after 2 weeks in Europe. This comes after an inferior Royal Caribbean cruise earlier this summer! I totally know how beautiful the world can be. My fondest hope shall be that you are someday able to do more than just wait with your face pressed against the glass for DCL to finish making you a cuck and tell you they are willing to take your money again. Good luck, small man.

Bradley, I sincerely hope your cruise turns out to be as pleasant as this board quickly became once you started posting. LOL

' src=

What was once a pleasant conversation has now been ruined by Brad. Oh well. I’m vaxed as well as my wife. We’re not science deniers. But Disney will see very quickly that they made the wrong decision here. If you think Disney is using ‘actual science’ to determine anything, you’ve lost your mind. They’re using ‘dollars’ to make their decisions and it won’t take them long to see the bookings at other lines to know they made the wrong one. And, no, it’s not Nostradamus, just basic capitalism. When it happens is anyone’s guess. I’m sure Carnival and other lines do the same polling as you mention and they clearly came to a completely different set of results. Hoping we all get back on DCL without restrictions soon. Happy Sailing everyone!

Bingo! Looking forward to seeing everyone on board sometime in the near future (when Disney gets its act together)

Johnny, I don’t know how a conversation can be accurately described as “pleasant” when Andy frequently breaks into ALL CAP rantings, but let’s ignore that for the moment. I was responding to a query about why DCL wasn’t more receptive to some people’s concerns, to which I pointed at their market research. That was my contribution to furthering the discourse. When you jumped in with your ad hominem, what question were you answering?

Science tries to minimize the qualitative or subjective approach. (To wit, you need a vaccine this often… This group is at higher risk because… To contain an outbreak, society needs a bubble of vaccinated people of this percentage…) You seem to be fond of non-specifics like “very quickly” and “soon” and it really makes you come across as a squish. When I was really young, I wrote a letter (back when there was a thing) to Pepsi telling them that they needed to pull out of Apartheid South Africa like other decent companies had all done, to affect change. They did not by the timetable I gave them and I have not had a Pepsi soft drink since. When I was in the Army, I had a CO siphoning off supplies and nobody else ever tried to stop him. I drew a line in the sand, he crossed it yet again and ended up jailed in Heidelberg and I left, disillusioned but principled, a couple years later. I’ve never had Carl’s Jr and when In N Out Burgers said they were no longer going to comply with the law, that was it for them. Principles should run the risk of costing you something. If you want to make your point, give Chapek and the Board whatever deadline you want (although, I guess if you make it 2 years from now, that would also be perceived as wimpy) to make your point, but don’t look back. Either you have affected change with your strength or you have the satisfaction of knowing you were a man and willing to take a stand.

Either way, how much fun will I have knowing an entire ocean rests between your grumpiness and me?!

Now it makes sense: Bradley makes off-color jokes on a Disney board, uses the word “grumpy” a lot and he clearly remembers being politically active when Apartheid was a thing.

He’s just some old guy with nothing better to do. This is his version of shaking a fist and yelling “You dang kids get off my lawn!” Enjoy your cruise, Bradley! (and be nice to the wait staff)

I don’t know what off color jokes you think I’m making, but I will point out to you that you make vaccination jokes while a million of your fellow Americans have died and left grieving families and friends. I say “grumpy” because I don’t wish to use more colorful language and you seem cranky and in need of some milk and cookies.

As for the old thing, I don’t know if 50 is old, but I’m happily married, I run marathons, have kids in school and own my own business. More importantly, I don’t know why age is a factor. Let’s assume you are younger. You are, by any reasonable measure, a crank and I think it’s a measure of the damage you have sustained in your life, but I don’t know you or the validity of why you are unpleasant. And I certainly don’t assume it’s a measure of your age, socioeconomic status, or region of the country. I served in the military to support your right to be unpleasant. You don’t need to salute or thank me for my service, but maybe you could be less unpleasant as a recognition of the sacrifice of my comrades in arms.

Most importantly, I am out there in the world. I’m traveling in the fashion you covet, Andy, so maybe that’s why you are mad. I’m not remotely angry, least of all about truly damaged people trying to hurt others and laughing about people dying. I just pray for you and hope that you find some peace and the feeling that someone really loves you for you. Absent that, I will take as a consolation your not taking to a central bell tower with some 2nd Amendment remedy.

The most important thing to recognize here, though, is that when presented with the opportunity to step up and be a man and state what you final straw would be, vis-a-vis DCL, your silence speaks volumes. Huh, did your damage come from the feeling that you are not in charge of your fate? Like how you are totally Bob Chapek’s cuck?

Okay, Bradley, we’ve heard what you have to say. Very entertaining. But read the room – you’ve lost the crowd. Time to go.

Leave the stage with some dignity.

What in the world are you talking about? Grumpy? Who’s grumpy? Apartheid? What are you rambling about? I simply stated that I doubt Disney cares at all about ‘science’ and more about ‘dollars’. They seem to have decided at the moment that a niche exists that would provide them more passengers and revenue with their current rules model than the ones like the other lines. I have no ‘deadline’ for Disney other than my final payment date in Feb 2023 for a cruise in May 2023. If the rules haven’t changed by then I’ll request my deposit back. If at some point they change in the future post Feb 2023 then I’ll be back. It’s really that easy. I like their cruises, been on a bunch pre-covid. Would love to go again. If they make it easy for me to travel with them I’ll be back. If not, I won’t. I have no idea how something as simple as that became some really weird, rambling, principled, Apartheid discussion about jail time in Heidelberg. Very strange.

And my point is that I have a track record of being a man and taking a stand even when it costs me. I was presenting you (and these other people ranting about public safety) the opportunity to let Disney know if you were mad and not going to take it anymore. You don’t care that much. Respect for knowing what’s important to you, particularly if nothing strikes you as important enough to sacrifice for it.

Since I assume nobody wishes to toil in ignorance, Apartheid was a dispicable government policy of state-enforced racism in South Africa, changed when economic forces (like boycotts, if you are catching on) mandated it. You never served in the Armed Forces, but Heidelberg was a famous Army prison, equivalent to Fort Leavenworth. And Carls, Jr and In-N-Out are fast food “restaurants.” Hope you find that helpful.

And the evolution of the discussion is self-evident if you read the chain. Less so if you cherry-pick. Hope you are able to either take your trip or decide the conditions aren’t too onerous.

Yikes. That post drips with condescension. Yes, I understand Apartheid. I’ve eaten at Carl’s Jr. I dont need to know that Heidelberg is a famous Army prison since it makes absolutely no sense for this conversation. It’s a weird rambling thought from someone who is clearly troubled. Look…many of us here simply would like to take a Disney cruise without restrictions.. It’s that simple. I have no problem if you would like to cruise with more restrictions. No issues at all. But disagreeing with many of us here doesn’t mean we’re ‘ranting’, it doesn’t mean we’re ‘grumpy’ or that we need to draw a ‘line in the sand’. Unfortunately, I don’t think any more of your posts will actually be rational, so I’ll be moving on. I truly wish you have a great upcoming cruise. Happy Sailing!

This looks suspiciously like a money grab. Math it out. They are basically getting a six figure sum for every ship that ports. Every Bermuda citizen who wants a vaccine can get one, so this is not in the name of protecting Bermuda, this is for cash. Drop Bermuda. If this money grab catches on, we’re going to have every island pulling this stunt in the name of safety (which is code word for cash).

It’s totally a money grab. They literally do NOTHING now. They will routinely collect anywhere from about $35,000 to maybe $75,000 per cruise ship, per visit. It’s ridiculous.

The only way to get it to stop, is to stop sailing with any cruise line that visits there while this is in force. Anything else, it isn’t going to change.

Good point Ryan and yes, I agree with you on the money grab. We, as customers can make that change by not booking that itinerary and Disney, drop the vaccines that don’t work requirement. As a Platinum, I’m a bit tired of waiting to cruise again so I will take my business elsewhere until you do.

' src=

Terry, so agree with you. Our whole family is platinum, and have been waiting to cruise. We are now looking at other lines and have found some attractive cruises. I know DCL will probably not miss the 18 (extended family included) fares from us. We, however, will enjoy all the money we will be saving by NOT cruising DCL. Someone asked why bother following the updates. I think for some of us it is because we felt a kinship with some of the others on this site and enjoyed hearing about their experiences.

I think you may find Carnival to be the right fit for you. Bon voyage.

You sound like the type of person that should buy his own boat and sail by yourself.

I gotta say, I think I’m kinda happy that I won’t have to share the Magic with a Grumpus for 12 days.

100% agree!

It is undeniably a money grab but, for an economy so reliant on tourism, this fee is how they pay for what safety protocols they have had in place since 2020. On a $10,000 12-day cruise, it seems petty and elitist for me to complain about $40/person when I feel so blessed as an economically-secure American to be able to share their island’s beauty.

' src=

Bermuda is a pathetic, boring, and the locals are disgusting. Just stay on the boat when they land in this cheap hole.

Yes, if that’s the game Bermuda wants to play then DCL could just say to the unvaxxed that they can’t get off the ship at that port due to that country’s regulations.

Carnival Freedom's next two cruises from Port Canaveral canceled after exhaust funnel fire

bermuda disney cruise port

A fire in the exhaust funnel of the Carnival Freedom this weekend has disrupted a cruise of the Port Canaveral-based ship for the second time in less than two years — and will mean that the ship's next two cruises are canceled.

Damage to the funnel will require the cancellation of Carnival's next two cruises out of Port Canaveral, which were scheduled to depart Monday and Friday.

Thousands of passengers with scheduled cruises will be affected by the canceled cruises during a busy spring break period for Carnival and other cruise lines.

Carnival initially had said it expected no changes in its upcoming cruises, but on Sunday afternoon said the cancellations would be required.

"Regrettably, the damage is more than we first thought, and will require an immediate repair to stabilize the funnel, resulting in the cancellation of the March 25 and March 29 cruises from Port Canaveral," according to a statement issued by Matt Lupoli, Carnival Cruise Line's senior manager of public relations. "The funnel has been stabilized for the ship’s return to Port Canaveral overnight to disembark guests, and then it will go to the Freeport shipyard on Monday afternoon to begin the required repairs."

Carnival said it made the decision after "our technical team completed a thorough assessment" during the ship’s visit Sunday to Freeport in the Bahamas.

In the statement, Carnival said: "We sincerely regret the impact to our embarking guests, as we know they have been looking forward to their spring break vacation. We are providing all guests on both canceled cruises a full refund and a 100% future cruise credit, so they can come back and enjoy a future cruise with us. We also greatly appreciate the terrific guests who are currently sailing with us, for their outstanding cooperation and support."

In a Facebook post, Carnival's widely followed brand ambassador, John Heald, conceded that many people who booked one of the canceled cruises are "feeling very disappointed," and he apologized for the turn of events.

But, Heald added that he wanted to assure affected passengers that, "when you rebook, using your full refund and your 100% future cruise credit, that the crew will be standing by to give you all the fun you deserve."

More than 500 people responded to the post, with many saying they thought Carnival was generous with the compensation offer. But some people who said they were on the cruise that experienced the fire said they thought Carnival should have done more for the people who were on the ship.

Carnival said the fire was confined to the funnel area. The cruise line said there are no reports of injuries to passengers. Two firefighting crew members were treated for minor smoke inhalation.

Carnival said that, at about 3:15 p.m. Saturday, the Carnival Freedom reported a fire on the port side of the ship’s exhaust funnel. The ship was 20 miles off Eleuthera Island, Bahamas, heading to Freeport after a canceled call to the Carnival private island of Princess Cay due to adverse weather.

Details of previous fire: Fire breaks out on Carnival Freedom while Port Canaveral-based ship was in Grand Turk

"The ship’s fire response team was quickly activated, and the ship’s captain also turned the vessel towards the heavy rain in the area to maximize the efforts to put out the flames," an earlier Carnival statement said. "Eyewitnesses reported the possibility of a lightning strike, and that is being investigated, but cannot yet be confirmed."

By 5:20 p.m. Saturday, the fire was extinguished.

Carnival said the ship's captain made multiple announcements to passengers and crew, and advised all but essential safety personnel to stay away from balconies and all open decks.

The port-side portion of the funnel had fallen onto Deck 10, and the firefighting response put out any flames.

The U.S. Coast Guard has been notified of the fire, and Carnival activated its incident response team to support the ship’s crew.

Carnival said there were no other operational issues with the ship’s systems, and the ship, which was on a four-night cruise, was visiting Freeport on Sunday.

The Freedom sailed into the channel at Port Canaveral around 7:30 a.m. Monday, and docked at Cruise Terminal 6, letting off the passengers who were on the cruise. Carnival then awaited a Coast Guard inspection of the ship before it could be cleared to leave Port Canaveral for the Freeport shipyard for repairs. The ship left the port about 6:20 p.m.

A cruise ship funnel generally serves as a smokestack to lift emissions above the deck, thus away from passengers and crew.

On Saturday evening, "Carnival Freedom guests enjoyed the Elegant Night dinner as planned, and, with the exception of the open decks, all areas of the ship are fully functioning," Carnival said in its statement.

The sailing had about 3,700 passengers onboard. And the two upcoming sailings that were canceled each likely would have had a similar passenger count, because this is a busy time for the cruise industry.

The Carnival Freedom's next voyage was scheduled to depart from Port Canaveral on Monday afternoon on a five-night Eastern Caribbean cruise. That cruise had port-of-call stops scheduled at Amber Cove in the Dominican Republic and at Grand Turk Island in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

But that sailing and a Friday sailing both have been canceled. Friday's five-night sailing also was scheduled to stop at those two ports of call, but in reverse order.

In May 2022, a fire broke out in the funnel area of the Carnival Freedom while it was docked in Grand Turk. Carnival then canceled three scheduled sailings of the Carnival Freedom out of Port Canaveral because of the need to repair the ship's fire damage at a shipyard in Grand Bahama.
