London travel news LIVE: Channel ferries cancelled and delayed while trains face disruption as Storm Nelson hits

Cross channel ferries faces delays and cancellations due to strong winds as Storm Nelson hits the Easter getaway.

Ferry company DFDS warned all services at Dover are currently operating with delays and has reported several channel crossings having to be cancelled.

Meanwhile a severe weather warning has been issued across Gatwick Express, Southern and Thameslink services as the storm hits.

National Rail has warned trains could be cancelled or hit by delays due to high winds and heavy rain, with the storm predicted to bring winds of up to 70mph to parts of England.

Disruption is expected from midday until the evening, with stronger winds expected across coastal routes.

Speed restrictions have been put in place to protect passengers between Bournemouth and Weymouth as the Met Office has forecast winds of more than 60mph, affecting some trains at London Waterloo.

The warning comes ahead of a predicted “Carmageddon” - with motorists advised journeys could take twice as long as 14 million Easter getaways are planned.

Long delays after crash near Blackwall Tunnel

There are long delays near the Blackwall Tunnel due to a crash.

The collision took place on the A102 Blackwall Tunnel Approach Northbound at A2203 Blackwall Lane.

There is congestion to before the Sun in the Sands Roundabout back to Eltham.

Trains unable to run on London Overground and District Line

There is no service on the District Line between Earl's Court and Ealing Broadway westbound.

There are also no trains on the line between Earl’s Court and Richmond while Transport for London fix a signal failure at Gunnersbury.

There is also no service on the London Overground between South Acton and Richmond due to the issue.

There are also severe delays on the Circle Line due to train cancellations.

Damaged wires closes lines between St Albans Abbey and Watford Junction

Damage to overhead electric wires between St Albans Abbey and Watford Junction has shut all lines between the stations.

National Rail has warned the disruption could last until midday.

Two knife attacks on transport network within hours

Two knife attacks took place on the London transport network on Wednesday.

Passengers watched on in horror as a man was stabbed in broad daylight in front of horrified passengers on a train near Beckenham shortly before 4pm.Two people are in a critical condition in hospital after being stabbed in a “senseless” attack by a stranger at  Kennington   Underground  Station on Wednesday night.

Minor delays on the Piccadilly Line

There are currently minor delays on the Piccadilly Line between Acton Town and Heathrow Terminals due to an earlier faulty train at Gloucester Road.Transport for London has warned that there are still severe delays on the London Overground between South Acton and Richmond due to an earlier signal failure at Gunnersbury.

Lanes closed on M25 due to crash

All lanes were forced to close on the M25 for 10 minutes due to a crash, creating long tailbacks

The incident happened on the M25 anticlockwise from Junction 16 to Junction 15.

Cameras show that traffic was held just before 1040pm.

Severe disruption over Easter weekend due to planned engineering works

Travellers are facing  severe train disruption  over the  Easter  weekend with extensive engineering works planned.

Network Rail  is urging passengers to check their journey details before they travel  as some major routes will be closed .

Road shut after car crashes into tree

A man in his 30s has been rushed to hospital after a car collided with a tree in north London.

Police were called at 6.10am on Thursday, March 28, to reports of a car colliding with a tree on Lea Valley Road in Chingford.

Road closures are still in place.

Purley station shut due to 'police incident'

Purley station has been shut due to a police incident. Services are not able to call at the station until further notice.

Good service across Tube network

Transport for London has said there is a good service across the Tube network, with earlier delays from a signal failure at Gunnersbury now cleared.

Severe weather warning on trains at London Waterloo

A severe weather warning has been put in place for trains travelling to and from London Waterloo.

Speeds restrictions have been brought in place to protect passengers between Weymouth and Bournemouth in both directions as sustained winds of more than 60mph have been forecast in the area.

National Rail warned high winds can increase the risk of falling trees and of possible debris being blown on to the railway.

Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

Man arrested after stabbing on train in south London

A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was stabbed on a train in front of horrified passengers.

The  British Transport Police  were called to Beckenham Junction station just before 4pm on Wednesday following reports of a fight on board the train travelling from Shortlands railway station.

Delays on trains from London Paddington due to flooding

Journeys from London Paddington may be delayed by up to 30 minutes or cancelled after heavy rainfall flooded the railway.

The line from Swindon towards Chippenham and Bristol Parkway has now reopened with a 5mph speed restriction, after being closed by the issue.National Rail said disruption is expected until 2.30pm.

Routes between London Paddington and stations such as Bristol Temple Meads and Cardiff Central have been affected.

There's been a crash on the M25 clockwise after J23 A1(M) J1 (South Mimms), causing partial blockage and queues.

The Metropolitan Police searched a train at Purley Railway Station shortly before 11am following a request by Surrey Police. No arrests were made.

Ferries have been delayed between Dover and France due to strong winds in the Channel.

Ferries cancelled due to poor conditions on English Channel

Ferry company DFDS has warned that several services have been cancelled due to high winds on the channel.

The Dieppe to Newhaven ferry at 6pm has been cancelled as well as the Newhaven to Dieppe service at 11pm.A third ferry leaving Calais at 4.35pm has also been cancelled.

There is no service between Willesden Junction and Richmond on the London Overground.

There are also severe delays between Stratford and Clapham Junction while Transport for London fix a loss of power to overhead lines in the Acton Central area.

Pensioner killed in A120 crash near Stansted Airport

A woman in her 70s died in a  crash  close to  Stansted Airport  on Wednesday, police said.

The single-vehicle crash on the Stansted-bound carriageway of the A120 happened just before 10am between the junctions with the B1008 Dunmow South and the B1256 Dunmow West.

Delays on the Central Line and London Overground

Commuters currently face severe delays on the Central Line and the Overground.

TfL said there are “severe delays” between Woodford and Epping “while the police respond to an incident”.

There is no service on the Overground between Willesden Junction and Richmond / Clapham Junction and severe delays on the rest of the line due to ax a loss of power to overhead lines in the Acton Central area.

Delays hit the DLR

There are severe delays on the DLR between Bank and Canary Wharf and between Tower Gateway and Poplar due to a faulty train at Limehouse, according to TfL.

Border Force officers to strike at Heathrow next month

More than 600 Border Force officers at Heathrow Airport are to take four days’ strike action from April 11 in a dispute over shifts, the PCS union announced.

Tottenham Hotspur have announced they have changed the date of their game against Nottingham Forest “dueto planned industrial action and substantial travel disruption across the rail network”.

The game, which was scheduled to take place on Monday April 8, will now take place on Sunday April 7 with kick-off at 6pm.
