Muse Announce Winter 2023 Tour With Evanescence

Muse Matt Bellamy live 2022 1600x900, Andreas Rentz/Getty Images

Muse  are going through a bit of a heavy phase. Earlier this summer, the prog-rock Brits covered  part of Slipknot's "Duality" at a big festival, and there was a song on their new album called "Kill or Be Killed" that actually has a double-bass section and even a stray death growl. Early next year, they'll be coming across the pond to tour North America in support of their new record Will of the People , and they'll be bringing along gothic hard-rock vets,  Evanescence , for the ride.

The tour begins February 25th in Chicago and will hit many cities throughout the U.S. and in Canada throughout the next couple months, wrapping up April 20th in Salt Lake City. Muse and Evanescence are pretty different bands in a lot of ways, but there's definitely enough crossover between their fanbases to make the pairing work, and surely both acts will benefit from each other's audiences getting acquainted with one another.

Tickets go on sale October 7th at 10 a.m. local time, and you can get yours here . See the full list of dates below.

Muse frontman Matt Bellamy summons the energy of the crowd onstage.

The year’s most theatrical rock show may be coming to a huge venue near you soon.

Muse and special guest Evanescence are currently midway through their worldwide ‘Will Of The People Tour’ and have plenty of major stops left on their 2023 tour itinerary.

That includes huge gigs at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on March 17 and Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center on March 19.

Best of all though, you won’t have to make a “Supermassive Black Hole” in your wallet when Muse comes to your town.

In fact, we found some tickets going for as low as $9 before fees on Vivid Seats to see the co-headliners live this spring.

And it might just be us but we think that’s an absolute steal considering the truly eye-popping visuals that accompany the anthemic music at each and every one of their arena shows.

So, if you want to hear the Guitar Hero classic “Knights of Cydonia” or Evanescence’s timeless “Bring Me To Life” live this year, here’s everything you need to know.

All ticket prices listed above were found at the time of publication and are subject to fluctuation.

Vivid Seats is a verified secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They offer a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and your tickets will be delivered prior to the event.

Muse 2023 tour schedule

The ‘Will of the People Tour’ currently has 25 dates remaining in 2023 .

Just a few of the biggest cities remaining on the tour calendar include Houston (March 2), Denver (April 4), Los Angeles (April 6), Las Vegas (April 8) and Seattle (April 18).

A complete calendar including all tour dates, venues, show start times and links to buy tickets can be found here .

Muse opening acts

As noted earlier, Muse is co-headlining with Evanescence on this run of shows.

However, neither group will open their shows.

That honor goes to Japanese opening act ONE OK ROCK.

If you want a sample of their bombastic sound, we recommend starting with “Wherever You Are” which has been streamed on Spotify over 100 million times at the time of publication.

Muse new music

In 2022, Muse dropped the anthemic and introspective ten-track album “Will of the People.”

Featuring standout tracks like the Queen-inspired banger “Liberation” or the otherworldly “Verona,” the record demonstrates the band doesn’t just stick to hard rock.

They’re willing to dip their toes into many of rock’s subgenres.

“This album goes from metal all the way to pop to my first version to an Adele song… a lot of electronica,” lead singer Matt Bellamy told Rolling Stone. “I genuinely think it’s our best album.”

For those that want to hear Matt Bellamy, Dominic Howard and Chris Wolstenholme’s latest, you can find “Will of the People” here .

Muse set list

While Muse likes to experiment with their sound, they tend to keep their set lists tight.

It makes sense given the pyrotechnics, costumes, confetti and jaw-dropping graphics that go into every concert.

Check below to see what they’ll likely play at the show nearest you.

01.) “Will of the People” 02.) “Interlude” 03.) “Hysteria” 04.) “Psycho” 05.) “Bliss”

06.) “Won’t Stand Down”

07.) “Compliance” 08.) “Thought Contagion” 09.) “Verona”

10.) “Time Is Running Out” 11.) “The 2nd Law: Isolated System”

12.) “Resistance”

13.) “You Make Me Feel Like It’s Halloween”

14.) “Madness”

15.) “We Are F—ing F—ed” 16.) “The Dark Side”

17.) “Supermassive Black Hole” 18.) “Plug In Baby” 19.) “Behold, the Glove” 20.) “Uprising” 21.) “Prelude” 22.) “Starlight” Encore:

23.) “Kill or Be Killed” 24.) “Knights of Cydonia”

The above set list came from a recent Muse concert on Feb. 25 in Chicago, IL courtesy of Set List FM .

StarTribune

Review: muse and evanescence make a dramatic pair in minneapolis rock spectacle.

The world is in decline. No one in power can be trusted. Love is all you need. Or a nifty light show and operatic rock music might do you some good, too.

That, in a nutshell, was the takeaway from Muse's ever-hi-fi performance Sunday night at Target Center. The arty but heavy British trio brought along the similarly metallic but tender Evanescence for a dramatic twofer — the rare hard-rock show where the audience of 10,000-plus featured almost as many women as men.

With its glitzy, elaborate visual and pyro production, Muse once again lived up to its reputation as a live band that's as close to a Cirque du Soleil show as it is to its musical touchstones such as Rush and Radiohead. Woe to the cleanup crew that had to deal with all the confetti and streamers Muse blew off in the arena.

The headliners mustered up musical fireworks here and there, too, but not with the consistency of their visual gadgetry.

Sunday's set list pulled heavily from Muse's new album, "Will of the People" — yep, another one laced with rise-up dystopian themes. The band started in right away with those, using the album's title track to kick off its nearly two-hour set.

"We need a revolution / So long as we stay free," frontman Matt Bellamy bellowed in the opener.

After many previous tours that followed a similar format, Sunday's set did not seem very revolutionary as far as Muse concerts go. It also felt weighed down in the middle with limper, more melodramatic midtempo songs such as "Thought Contagion" and "Verona." The latter new one off like some of Coldplay's syrupiest gushers.

Meanwhile, the ambient piano-drum montage "The 2nd Law: Isolated System" at midshow also felt like an overthought, lame excuse for the otherwise compelling drummer Dominic Howard to step out onto the long proscenium stage near the center of the arena.

As the band turned back to some of its most angsty and feisty songs near show's end, including "Uprising" and "Prelude," the music got back on track, and the crowd got back on its feet to rock along, which probably wasn't very safe at that point with all the slippery confetti on the ground.

A large number of fans got there early enough for Evanescence, which rewarded them near the start of its hourlong set with the hard-hitting 2006 hit "Call Me When You're Sober." The Arkansas-reared band then did a musical 180 as a grand piano rose up from under the stage, and its Tori-Amos-gone-Ronnie-James-Dio-like singer Amy Lee dramatically plunked out the group's power ballad "Lithium."

Like another band with a "Lithium" track, Nirvana, Lee's crew has fine-tuned the loud-quiet-loud formula over the years but maintained its metal underside. Recent songs such as "Wasted on You" and "Use My Voice" were some of the most potent examples — but so was the band's breakout hit from 20 years ago, "Bring Me to Life," a spectacular finale even without any of Muse's visual spectacle.

Chris Riemenschneider has been covering the Twin Cities music scene since 2001, long enough for Prince to shout him out during "Play That Funky Music (White Boy)."
