The  Whiskey Myers 2023 Tour  continues to build excitement with today’s announcement of 15 additional headlining dates from the multi-platinum band. The Live Nation-produced tour now spans 23 cities, kicking off February 16 in Knoxville, Tenn. at Knoxville Civic Coliseum, with stops in Augusta, Ga., Toledo, Ohio, Nashville, Tenn., Kansas City, Mo. and more before a July 28 finale in Billings, Mont. at First Interstate Arena. Joining the genre-bending band across varying dates are Giovannie & The Hired Guns, Rival Sons and The Weathered Souls, with additional support to be announced.

TICKETS:  Tickets for the newly added shows go on sale starting Friday, January 13 at 10 a.m. local time via  whiskeymyers.com . Tickets for all other U.S. shows are on sale now.

The tour comes on the heels of the band’s 2022  Tornillo Tour , in support of their critically-acclaimed album  Tornillo , praised by  American Songwriter for putting Whiskey Myers “in a league of their own with their signature hard-rocking sound on full display” and released in 2022 via the band’s own Wiggy Thump Records with distribution by Thirty Tigers. Fans will have a chance to see this signature sound live on the upcoming tour, with  Nashville Lifestyles  declaring, “Southern rock is alive and well on Whiskey Myers’  Tornillo  – and it comes with a brassy border-town swagger… Equal parts train songs, tenacious energy, and Tabasco… their lawless musicality burns like the sun.”

About Whiskey Myers Genre-bending band Whiskey Myers have played more than 2,500 live shows to ever-increasing crowd sizes since their emergence in 2007. In addition to headlining their own sold-out shows from coast to coast at iconic venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheater and Ryman Auditorium, plus performing at marquee festivals Bonnaroo, Stagecoach, Download and more, the six-piece was also personally selected to open The Rolling Stones’ Chicago stadium show in 2019. Their latest self-produced album, Tornillo, available everywhere now via the band’s own Wiggy Thump Records, features the No. 17 most-played Americana song of 2022, “John Wayne,” and follows their fifth studio album, Whiskey Myers, which debuted at No. 1 on both the Country and Americana/Folk sales charts, at No. 2 on the Rock chart and No. 6 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart (No. 3 among new releases). In total, Whiskey Myers have sold more than 1.5 million albums and amassed over 2 billion streams while earning six RIAA Gold & Platinum certifications as an independent band. Known for their high-energy live show and unique sound, the band praised by Esquire as “the real damn deal” has also earned synch success with features (and an on-screen appearance) in Paramount’s hit show “Yellowstone” as well as Netflix series “What/If,” Angelina Jolie film “Those Who Wish Me Dead” and CBS series “SEAL Team.” USA Today describes their sound as “a riff-heavy blend of Southern rock and gritty country that has earned comparisons to the Allman Brothers Band and Led Zeppelin,” with Rolling Stone noting “it’s the seminal combination of twang and crunchy rock & roll guitars that hits a perfect sweet spot.”

Music + concerts, music + concerts | whiskey myers talks new sounds and ‘yellowstone’ ahead of southern california shows, the country rock band will bring its tornillo tour to fox theater pomona nov. 15, the novo in los angeles nov. 17 and humphreys concerts by the bay nov. 18..

From the first notes of the album-opening instrumental song “Tornillo” off of Whiskey Myers’ sixth studio release of the same title, which came out back in July, it’s apparent that the veteran band has incorporated new musical twists into its repertoire.

Horn parts straight out of a spaghetti western open the brief title track, which then segues into the next song, “John Wayne,” where the kind of gritty mix of rock and country that has come to define the Whiskey Myers sound emerges.

And on several of the other songs – most notably on the aforementioned “John Wayne,” “Antioch,” “Feet’s” and “Mission To Mars” – robust horn lines and female backing vocals bring new dimensions without altering the core sound of the Texas-based Southern rock and country outfit.

But don’t assume that the additional instrumentation and vocals were some big calculated move.

“We never really do that much thinking about it; Usually we just go in and make a record,” Cody Cannon, Whiskey Myers’ frontman and main songwriter, explained in a recent phone interview. The band is currently on its Tornillo Tour with support from the Read Southall Band and has stops at the Fox Theater in Pomona Nov. 15, The Novo in Los Angeles Nov. 18 and a sold out show at Humphreys Concerts by the Bay in San Diego Nov. 18.

“This time, it was a little bit different,” he continued. “We’d been wanting to do horns for awhile. I guess during the writing process, I was hearing like horns and stuff behind certain sounds. It was in the back of my mind. So I guess that was different this time. We try not to put that much thought into it: trying to find the perfect sound. But I knew on this record I didn’t want to do the same thing. I wanted to do something different.”

That rather spontaneous approach to making music has served Whiskey Myers well throughout a career that now stretches back 15 years.

Formed in 2007 in Palestine, Texas, the band — singer-guitarist Cannon, guitarists John Jeffers and Cody Tate, drummer Jeff Hogg and bassist Gary Brown (replaced in 2017 by Jamey Gleaves) – wasted little time getting its career started. A year later, Whiskey Myers released its debut album, “Road of Life,” and began playing shows in Dallas and on the Texas red dirt country scene.

As subsequent albums were released – “Firewater” in 2011, “Early Morning Shakes” in 2014 and “Mud” in 2016 – the band expanded touring beyond Texas, playing shows across the United States as its grass roots following grew as the band racked up positive reviews for its brawny mix of rock and country.

By 2018, Whiskey Myers’ career took a significant upturn when several of its songs were used in the first season of the hit television series “Yellowstone.” The band even did a cameo in the fourth episode of season one.

At the time, Cannon said, he and his bandmates didn’t think a whole lot about their involvement in “Yellowstone,” but he now realizes what a major moment it was.

“Just us being an independent band and never really trying to write radio songs or take them to radio in any certain way, we had never had a platform to reach millions of people like that at once,” Cannon said. “That was the first time we ever had that happen; a platform like that to reach those people.”

Almost immediately, album sales, streams and crowd sizes at Whisky Myers concerts took a jump. When the band’s self-titled fifth album arrived in September 2019, it topped the Billboard country album chart and landed at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 chart. The band went into the pandemic-forced break from activity more popular than ever. The band was even invited out to play the Palomino Stage at the 2019 Stagecoach Country Music Festival in Indio that year.

Now comes “Tornillo,” and the band is poised to reach an even larger audience. Like the self-titled album, “Tornillo” was self produced by the band, which is fitting for a group that’s been an independent act since day one.

Cannon said going the do-it-yourself route seemed like the only viable option for Whiskey Myers, and having turned down overtures from labels in the past, he doesn’t foresee a scenario where the band would benefit from signing a label deal.

“It’s like why wouldn’t you do it yourself and own it?” he said. “Now we’re so far into it, like hell, why would I want to do that now? I don’t want a boss. That’s what you’re essentially doing, you’re working for somebody. It’s kind of a partnership, but not really. They’re telling you what to do and giving you deadlines to make stuff. I’m not interested in that stuff at all.”

While out on tour, Cannon said the group would be mixing a few of the new songs off of “Tornillo” into the set, but won’t neglect the fan-favorites.

“We’ve kind of learned that process by trial and error,” he said of curating a setlist. “You know, back in the day maybe you were excited to show people new material and stuff and you put four to six in the set and people just kind of stand there and look at you with a blank look because they don’t really know what’s going on. But we’ll be playing some new stuff.”

I was at my first Whiskey Myes Show on 13.5.2019 in Munich.

Location was nice and cosy . Quite unusual Stage that the audience can access on two sides. Support band: The imbecidels was absolutely horrible! I understood they wanted to shock but they were just crap.

Whiskey Myers:

Fantastic musicians all the way through! Guitar duelling at its best! Awesome Voice!

Only sad thing was that Nobody from the band interacted with the People. Esp. Cody was a bit cocky at times...

Great show and great venue. The only complaint I have is that the mic was setup for the lead singer to be very close to it so when they really started rocking out and moving around you'd miss about half the lyrics. I know most all the songs anyway so it didn't bother me that much, but it was something I noticed. I'd say they are definitely worth going to see if you like their sound.

About Whiskey Myers Genre-bending band Whiskey Myers have played more than 2,500 live shows to ever-increasing crowd sizes since their emergence in 2007. In addition to headlining their own sold-out shows from coast to coast at iconic venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Ryman Auditorium, plus performing at marquee festivals Bonnaroo, Stagecoach, Download and more, the six-piece was also personally selected to open The Rolling Stones’ Chicago stadium show in 2019. Their latest self-produced album, Tornillo , available everywhere now via the band’s own Wiggy Thump Records, features the No. 17 most-played Americana song of 2022, “John Wayne,” and follows their fifth studio album, Whiskey Myers , which debuted at No. 1 on both the Country and Americana/Folk sales charts, at No. 2 on the Rock chart and No. 6 on the all-genre  Billboard  200 chart (No. 3 among new releases). In total, Whiskey Myers have sold more than 1.6 million albums and amassed over 2.3 billion streams while earning six RIAA Gold & Platinum certifications as an independent band. Known for their high-energy live show and unique sound, the band praised by Esquire as “the real damn deal” has also earned sync success with features (and an on-screen appearance) in Paramount’s hit show “Yellowstone” as well as Netflix series “What/If,” Angelina Jolie film “Those Who Wish Me Dead” and CBS series “SEAL Team,” among several others. USA Today  describes their sound as “a riff-heavy blend of Southern rock and gritty country that has earned comparisons to the Allman Brothers Band and Led Zeppelin,” with  Rolling Stone  noting “it’s the seminal combination of twang and crunchy rock & roll guitars that hits a perfect sweet spot.” For more information, visit www.whiskeymyers.com and follow on social media @WhiskeyMyers

Whiskey Myers

The band will kick off the trek on March 8th

As multi-platinum band Whiskey Myers prepares to kick off a year of heavy touring on March 8th with a headlining RodeoHouston appearance in front of more than 70,000 fans on March 11th, the genre-bending group announces the addition of new dates running through the summer. New stops include Reno, Chicago, St. Louis, Cincinnati, and others.

Tickets to all previously announced shows are on sale now, with the new run of shows this Friday, March 1st at 10 am local time.

Joining the genre-bending band across varying dates are The Red Clay Strays, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, Southall, Whitey Morgan and the 78’s, Anderson East, Blackberry Smoke, Reid Haughton, Treaty Oak Revival, Vincent Neil Emerson, and Eddie Flint.

In addition to their headlining dates, Whiskey Myers tops several festival lineups and will serve as direct support to Hank Williams, Jr. for four shows. Their own Wiggy Thump Festival also returns to their hometown of Palestine, Texas for the sixth year on April 20th, with Jason Boland & The Stragglers, Brent Cobb and Joey Greer joining the event benefitting the local Anderson County Youth Livestock Association.

Whiskey Myers unveiled their creation of Uncle Chicken’s Sippin’ Whiskey last year, one of their passion projects that’s enabled them to connect further with fans through their own coffee line and unique, collectible art created for each show and album. Breaking free from conventions, Uncle Chicken’s transcends boundaries and speaks to the soul of its diverse fan base, offering a remarkable libation that defies categorization. Uncle Chicken’s Sippin’ Whiskey is a Straight Bourbon Whiskey shrouded in mystery and infused with the untamed spirit of a legendary figure within the Whiskey Myers universe.

Whiskey Myers Announces 2023 Tour Dates

whiskey myers tour california

Tickets for the newly added shows go on sale starting Friday, January 13 at 10 a.m. local time via whiskeymyers.com. Tickets for all other U.S. shows are on sale now.

The tour comes on the heels of the band’s 2022 Tornillo Tour, in support of their critically acclaimed album Tornillo, praised by American Songwriter for putting Whiskey Myers “in a league of their own with their signature hard-rocking sound on full display” and released in 2022 via the band’s own Wiggy Thump Records with distribution by Thirty Tigers. Fans will have a chance to see this signature sound live on the upcoming tour, with Nashville Lifestyles declaring, “Southern rock is alive and well on Whiskey Myers ‘ Tornillo – and it comes with a brassy border-town swagger… Equal parts train songs, tenacious energy, and Tabasco… their lawless musicality burns like the sun.”
