Norwegian Epic Bathroom Pictures

Ask anyone who’s sailed on the Epic, and almost universally they hate the bathrooms in the cabins. That’s the first thing that always comes up in a conversation. But aside from the bathroom layout, the cabins are quite nice and have plenty of space!

Norwegian Epic Balcony Stateroom Virtual Tour 1

A note about the bathrooms on the Norwegian Epic that people overlook. They’re actually quite practical! With the facilities being separate, it’s more efficient for multiple people to make use of.

Understanding the Six Types of Norwegian Epic Balcony Staterooms

NCL Epic in Southampton

With all the excitement that surrounded the 2014 launch of the Norwegian Getaway and the 2013 sister ship Norwegian Breakaway, it’s easy to forget the 2010 Norwegian Epic. A prototype for the Breakaway and Getaway, the Epic is larger and carries more guests than the other two ships.

I was aboard the Norwegian Epic for the inaugural sailing from Southampton, England as well as the transatlantic crossing to America, in 2010. More than the exciting arrival into New York City, it was the quirky design of this ship that created a major buzz.

In a bold move, Norwegian Cruise Line built the Epic with 128 solo-occupancy staterooms (Studios), a first in the cruise industry. Aside from a total of 688 inside staterooms including the Studios, all of the remaining 1,426 staterooms have balconies. That amounts to quite a few options when it comes time to reserve a balcony stateroom.

Traditional rectangular staterooms were redesigned with curved walls, rounded bed corners, and a sink and vanity area in the main living space. But the one feature that garnered the most comments was the split shower and bathroom with translucent sliding doors.

Cleverly designed for convenience and comfort, there are no less than six types of balcony staterooms, all with the same modern design.

Not including mini-suites, suites or The Haven categories, here’s a quick run-down on the various types of balconies aboard the Epic. Keep in mind that unless otherwise shown, most of these balcony staterooms have a near-identical design. It’s the square footage that differs.

Also, please note that the square footage given includes the balcony, which can vary from 34 – 107 sq. ft. You can ask your travel agent for size as to stateroom and balcony once you choose your stateroom category.

Standard Balcony Stateroom

Spacious enough to accommodate up to three guests with floor to ceiling glass doors that open onto the private balcony. Curved interior walls, separate bathroom and shower areas and a sink and vanity in the main living space are a trademark of all the balcony staterooms on the Epic. Two lower beds convert into a queen-sized bed and the sitting area includes a sofa sleeper. Typical of the balcony categories, there is a large flat screen TV and ample closet space. Staterooms measure approximately 203-230 square feet.

Mid-Ship Balcony

Same design, décor and colors. Ranging in size from 204-221 sq. ft. including balcony, Mid-Ship Balcony staterooms sleep up to three guests. As the name implies, these staterooms are located “mid-ship” with easy access to dining, many of the onboard entertainment venues, dining and activities. Two lower beds convert to a queen bed and the sofa converts to a one-person sleeper. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors open onto the private balcony. 203-257 sq. ft including balcony.

All staterooms feature a completely unique bathroom treatment where every area is separate, including the shower and a modern vanity sink. Additionally, the walls are curved, helping to create a modern and chic living experience. There are also two lower beds and a sitting area in these staterooms with room for up to three guests.

Have a look at this link http://www.cruisecheap.com/ships/norwegian-cruise-line-norwegian-epic-deck-plans.html

I guess it depends on what you want with regards to balcony size/space, however after a quick look its looks like the cabin are mostly "family" cabins.

5,000+ Club

There are quite a few standard cabins that have extra large balconies on the hump. I have a BF booked for September that will be reclassified as a B6 next spring because of the size of the balcony, so I would suggest you book before then if you are looking for a great deal.

We have BG 9281 towards the back what will this mean for us.

Should I try and get them to change it?

Thanks for any help in this matter.

To the best of my knowledge, it's located as shown.

a rare place on Epic from where you can ever see waterline

aft location means motion up and down (depends on sea condition)

the balcony has no roof

prospective view forward is still spoiled by lifeboats

potentially only - a zone of vibration (along with engine location zone and uptakes zone upwards)

Kaydub

We have an aft cabin booked and we are looking forward to the Panoramic view!!!

eroller

I've been doing my fair share of studying the EPIC deck plan and comparing it to actual photos.

I probably should not give away my secret, but based on my research the best standard balcony cabins are forward on Deck 9.

Specifically cabins 9025/9027 and 9024/9026.

So what makes these cabins so special? It's all about the balcony.

First, the balcony is open (meaning a glass rail), and not enclosed like the balcony cabins all the way forward and all the way aft.

Second, the balcony is double the size of all others.

Third, there is no obstruction and a direct view of the sea with nothing below.

Forth, and this aspect is the most unique ... the balcony is 1/2 covered for total privacy, and 1/2 open to the sky above so you can even sunbathe if you wanted to, and enjoy the air and sunlight. It's the best of both worlds.

Ok, my secret is out. Don't tell anyone! LOL

What is not panoramic view? :)

*Wink*

Wow... All great suggestions! And I thank you, eroller, for sharing your research with me!

We booked a stern balcony as well (before the category change) because of the view, the protection from lots of wind on sea days, and most importantly, the potential for some good ol' fashioned rockin'! ;)

If you see their cabin rockin', dont' go a knockin'.:p

Note. "1/2 covered for total privacy" - half privacy cannot be total.

"1/2 open to the sky above" - means no privacy.

Yes, it's tempting!

But too much pitching here - dealbreaker.

Ship movement does not bother me, but even if it did it would not prevent me from booking a forward cabin. Keep in mind the most expensive suites on the ship are located all the way forward, and very high up. They are basically prone to the most motion but I certainly would not pass one up and would hardly consider the location a deal breaker.

As for privacy, if you are sitting on the section of the balcony that is covered (which is closest to the balcony door), it is total privacy. You can do whatever you want there and no one will see you unless you are docked and someone is standing dockside. That section of the balcony is the same size as any standard balcony on the ship (as these cabins have a double sized balcony). Move closer to the rail to the section of the balcony that is uncovered, and then you don't have the privacy but you have the open sky above and can even get a tan if you want.

This is what I mean by the best of both worlds. You can have your chairs in total privacy if you want, or move them closer to the rail for the sun. Your choice.

A great advantage of being fore or aft is the corridor outside the cabins tends to be very quiet. You don't have people walking by talking, laughing, or whatever as there is no reason to be in the area unless your cabin is there.

I would try bow location, but for myself only. I wouldn't dare to place my family there.

Room 11260 is the bed by the balcony? Is this a good room choice? Cruise Feb 2018  thanks in advance, so happy for a wonderful place to ask. And I assume balcony is covered.

We are booked in 10027. Does this cabin have the same large balcony?

KeithJenner

We are sailing later this year on the Epic in cabin 13067. Balcony looks HUGE. When we booked the CAS rep even remarked that it was one of the largest balconies on the ship. I am hopeful!

This is the balcony from 13043, which is the same as yours, but on the other side of the bump.

I know this an older post, but we are booked in this room 13043 next January and have never been on Epic. Do you happen to have more pictures of the room to share? I was very happy to see the size of the balcony from your pictures. Any other tips about the room are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!
