Regent Seven Seas Cruises is a luxury cruise line that offers all-inclusive sailings to some of the most desirable destinations in the world. The line is known for its exceptional service, spacious accommodations, and gourmet dining options.

Small-ship, luxury sailing

Regent Seven Seas Cruises operates six ships, each with its own unique style and personality. The fleet includes the Seven Seas Explorer, Seven Seas Mariner, Seven Seas Navigator, Seven Seas Grandeur, Seven Seas Splendor, and Seven Seas Voyager. All of the ships are designed with a focus on luxury and comfort, and offer a range of amenities and activities to suit every type of traveler. And, with a maximum passenger capacity from 490-750 guests, depending on the ship, you'll never feel crowded or have to wait in a line on a Regent Seven Seas sailing.

Limited spring break sailings in the Caribbean

As our apples-to-apples comparison, we looked at taking a week-long cruise in the Caribbean in March, booking about a year in advance. Regent Seven Seas only had one option, the Seven Seas Splendor, sailing from San Juan, PR to Miami, FL. We were given a starting fare of $5,099 per person on an itinerary including St. Barts, Antigua, St. Thomas, Dominican Republic, and the Bahamas.

Many extras included in your fare

While that fare may initially seem extraordinarily high compared with rival cruise lines' options, be aware that Regent Seven Seas includes many things in its fares that will be an extra (and sometimes surprise) charge elsewhere:

Not a high-end online booking experience

At first, it feels like you can't book your Regent cruise outright through the cruise line's website: when you create an account or look at a sailing that interests you, it says that your information will be passed along to an agent. But, if you keep clicking through, filling out a form indicating the number of guests, your airport of choice, desired cabin, and so on, you will eventually reach the point where you can place a 7-day hold, pay the required booking deposit, or pay in full. You'll probably still be contacted by a Regent Seven Seas agent, to see if you have any questions or need to make any changes. The online booking process doesn't feel as luxurious as we'd expected - but then again, at this level of cruising, most travelers likely let the agent do the work from the get-go.

All dining options are part of your fare

Regent Seven Seas Cruises is known for its exceptional dining options. The line offers a range of gourmet restaurants, from classic steakhouse fare to Mediterranean-inspired cuisine. While some dining is open seating and others are reservation-required, all options are included as part of your fare.

Good selection of onboard activities

You should also consider the size of the ship: larger ships offer more amenities, but smaller ships can access ports that bigger ships can't.

Speaking of amenities, make sure you understand what you'll get as part of your fare and which extras will come with an additional cost. For example, most cruises offer drink packages for alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, but a few have drink stations where you can get complimentary lemonade, coffee and tea. Other amenities that might be important to you are Wi-Fi, spa services, babysitting, fitness classes, and upgraded dining experiences. You can usually get a decent discount if you sign up for an amenities package before you sail, so keep an eye out for promotions in the months leading up to your sailing.

When you take a cruise, it's almost always expected that you'll tip the crew members who have attended to your needs while onboard: your cabin steward ( who probably leaves your towels folded into fun shapes every night ), your servers at your nightly meals, and the head waiter. Cruise lines have a recommended gratuity to cover all three of those staff members, usually $15-$20 per traveler, per day; the total gratuity amount may be charged automatically to your account, or you may be given envelopes to make cash payments.

While it usually isn't mandatory to pay those gratuities - you can ask to have them removed if they're applied automatically, especially if you've received poor service - it's typically considered in poor taste not to tip at the suggested levels (because crew members' salaries, much like servers at your local restaurant, are based on the expectation of tips paid by guests). And, if you receive service that goes above and beyond, adding to the recommended gratuity is always appreciated. Be aware that tips for bartenders, poolside servers, and professional services provided in the spa or elsewhere are not included in the daily suggested gratuity and may be charged automatically at the time of service.

Now that you have a good overview of the cruising experience, which cruise line should you choose? Beyond the points we already covered, here are a few additional criteria that might make it easier to pick:

• Embarkation port. You could get a great deal on a cruise, but what will it cost you to get to the port? That could involve airfare, an overnight stay or two in a nearby hotel (so that you're less likely to be affected by travel delays), and transportation from the airport or hotel to the port. This is especially true if you're taking a cruise that departs from an international destination.
• Perks for repeat cruisers. Like frequent flyer programs on airlines, most cruise lines offer benefits the more you sail. If you find yourself absolutely loving cruise vacations, it can be advantageous to put all of your eggs in one basket, so to speak. Rewards programs can include casino benefits, complimentary meals at the upgraded dining experiences, exclusive sail-away parties with free cocktails and tchotchkes, early-access booking on future cruises, and much more.
• Reputation. It's a really smart idea to see what other travelers have said about their overall experience with a cruise line before booking your trip. The ads on TV may make that private island look amazing, but someone who's been there might point out that you'll pay extra to get on that waterslide. Or, previous cruisers could tell you that despite having several formal nights on the schedule, a particular cruise line has no problem with people showing up to dinner in flip-flops and swimsuit coverups. Find out if the cruise line you're considering lines up in reality with what they advertise.

Seven Seas Grandeur Review

Seven Seas Grandeur is the third in Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ vaunted Explorer Class of ships, collectively called the most-luxurious ships in the world by the brand. Of the three ships, Grandeur feels like the one that is the most refined, the most special. Perhaps it’s because the ship has the beautiful art and bold décor choices the other two have, while showing a deft restraint that creates onboard luxury without feeling ostentatious.

From stem to stern, this ship is striking, with statement pieces that will literally make you gasp and whimsy in details that will bring a smile.

Seven Seas Grandeur rooms are well-designed, from the introductory Veranda Suite, which is efficient in its use of space, to the top-end Regent Suite , which includes every amenity you could imagine. Balconies at all levels are large and designed to be used frequently.

The ship offers a number of restaurants onboard – all included – though we found dishes to be hit and miss in terms of quality and innovation.

Its Serene Spa is one of the best in the luxury market, thanks to its blend of serene indoor/outdoor space, array of thermal treatment options and design that takes advantage of high ceilings and natural lighting.

Seven Seas Grandeur is designed for fans of luxury hotels who want a ship that is the destination and love to visit small ports, with an occasional jaunt off the beaten path.

Seven Seas Grandeur Deck Plan Flows Well, is Easy to Navigate

The Seven Seas Grandeur deck plan is well-laid out, with 10 passenger decks that flow well and are rarely congested. The ship’s guest space ratio is nearly 80, meaning that it seldom feels crowded. (For comparison, some of the big mainstream cruise ships have ratios in the mid-30s, while most luxury lines have ratios in the 60s or 70s.)

Decks 7 through 9 and Deck 14 are exclusively for cabins, with staterooms also located on decks 12, 10 and 5.

Restaurants are found on decks 4, 5, 10 and 11. Deck 11 is the pool deck and serves as a hub of activity during the day both because of the pool and associated hot tubs, loungers and sun spaces as well as its adjacency to the extensive outdoor pool grill, which is exceptionally popular for lunch – you might have a hard time finding an outdoor spot to sit in good weather.

The spa and fitness center are located aft – at the back of the ship – on decks 5 and 6, while the ships surprisingly large Constellation Theater is located forward on decks 4 and 5.

The most visually stunning area of Seven Seas Grandeur is the spectacular atrium that spans decks 4 and 5. Here a beautiful staircase sits below a huge, modern crystal chandelier. From Deck 4, you can also take in the 40-foot handwoven tapestry that runs along the elevator bank all the way to Deck 11.

Seven Seas Grandeur Rooms Are Spacious, Efficient

All cabins on Seven Seas Grandeur are called suites, though true suites – where a bedroom is a truly separate space from the living are (not just closed off by a curtain) – are available from the Penthouse Suites on up. But even if they aren’t true suites, the introductory cabins and up all are thoughtfully designed, and each has sizable balconies, which is something many lines have sacrificed for more interior space.

All Seven Seas Grandeur rooms have amenities for the modern traveler, from ample outlets and bedside charging to exceptional storage space – from closets to drawers and smart cubbies.

At the highest end is the over-the-top Regent Suite, which has been the talk of the industry since the first one debuted on Seven Seas Explorer. The room, which starts at $11,000 per night, is 3,026 square feet and offers a 1,417 square-foot balcony, and it includes an ensuite spa (for treatments in-cabin), Steinway baby grand piano and a mattress that retails for $200,000.

Unlike some other luxury lines ( Silversea and Crystal ), not all suites come with butlers, though Penthouse Suites and above include this service on Seven Seas Grandeur.

Seven Seas Grandeur Food is Strong but Lacks Innovation

With nine dining experiences onboard, including four specialty restaurants, choice for food on Seven Seas Grandeur is plentiful. While Regent Seven Seas announced in 2023 it was adding some 130 dishes to menus across its fleet, we didn’t feel the impact on our short preview sailing of Seven Seas Grandeur. We’ve sailed several times with the line, and on Seven Seas Grandeur, the food was solidly prepared but felt a little too familiar, in that we’ve had several of the dishes we tried before on other ships.

It’s not to say the quality is lacking but simply that we didn’t see the innovation we’d hoped for come to life. In a competitive luxury cruise market, where others are showing inspired approaches to cuisine, Seven Seas Grandeur felt a little flat.

What to Wear on Seven Seas Grandeur

Regent Seven Seas remains a luxury line that has a more upscale dress code , and we have seen it politely enforced.

During the day, casual is appropriate onboard Seven Seas Grandeur, though casual on this ship tends to mean luxury brands even for swimwear, kaftans, sundresses shorts and the like.

At 6 p.m., casual wear is no longer permitted, and guests are required to dress in an “elegant casual” manner. For women, that means skirts with blouses or sweaters, pantsuits and dresses. For men, collared shirts and trousers are required, though sports jackets and ties are optional.

On sailings of 16 nights or more, guests will enjoy two more formal or semi-formal evenings, where men wear tuxedos, dinner jackets or dark suits (with tie), and women will wear gowns or cocktail dresses. Though participation is option, many dress to the nines and enjoy the opportunity to dress up – and see others in formal attire as well.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises, one of the world’s leading luxury ocean cruise lines, announced they will welcome guests on a 140-night world cruise, visiting six continents, 40 countries and 73 UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Fares for the World of Splendor 2027 World Cruise begin at $91,499 per guest climbing up to a record-breaking $839,999 per guest for the decadent Regent Suite — $1.7 million dollars for two guests.

“We have seen continued interest and demand to venture further afield and for longer durations and so we are thrilled to announce that our 2027 World Cruise will take place on board Seven Seas Splendor, offering more luxury travelers the opportunity to enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime experience” Andrea DeMarco, president of Regent Seven Seas Cruises, said in a statement on Wednesday.

“This will be the first time a World Cruise will sail on board one of our magnificent Explorer-Class ships, Seven Seas Splendor, which was launched in 2020 and offers the highest standards of unrivaled luxury, and featuring the one-of-a-kind, 4,443 square foot Regent Suite.”

The Regent Suite is one of the largest suites ever constructed on a luxury cruise ship.

Guests who book the Regent Suite can choose between two bedrooms — troubled sleepers will want to opt for the Master which includes a hand-crafted Hästens Vividus mattress and bed set-up, worth over $200,000 — lounge in the living room and enjoy room service in the dining room.

When wanting to go into full relaxation mode, weary travelers can pamper themselves in the in-suite spa retreat, which offers a personal sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi, or head out to either of the two private balconies, each of which offers a heated mini pool spa.

The suite is adorned with marble touches, crystal chandeliers, hand-blown vases, a custom Steinway Grand Maroque Piano by Dakota Jackson and two rare original lithographs painted by Pablo Picasso.

But guests are likely to be distracted by the 270-degree unobstructed views peering over the ship’s bow from the 1,300 square-foot wraparound veranda and glass-enclosed solarium on the fourteenth deck — offering a “Captain’s view” as the ship arrives in each of the 71 ports.

Those staying in the Regent Suite are also offered a dedicated butler and a full bar setup.

Outside the luxurious suite, these cruisers are guaranteed a reservation in any of the five specialty restaurants each night, have access to a private dining room, a complimentary cocktail party for eight, dinner with a senior ship officer and a personal training session.

But the VIP treatment doesn’t stop when passengers step off the ship.

Regent Suite guests will also be provided with first-class airfare for domestic flights — or business class airfare for international flights — roundtrip transportation to and from the airport, priority boarding on embarkation day and access to a personal car, driver and guide in every port along the way.

Setting sail from Miami, the all-inclusive 2027 World Cruise travels to 71 ports visiting the Caribbean, the Pacific Islands, Australia and New Zealand, Asia, Africa and Europe before ending in New York.

Guests will travel 35,668 nautical miles across three oceans as well as over 480 shore excursions and 14 overnight stays.

Travelers who aren’t looking to splurge on the Regent Suite can choose from 14 other suite categories starting at $91,499 per guest for a 307-square-foot Veranda Suite.

Those who prefer a slightly shorter journey can opt for a 126-night voyage from Miami to Rome, with fares ranging from $84,999 per guest ,up to $755,999 per guest.

The World of Splendor World Cruise will set sail on January 11, 2027, after a one-night pre-cruise stay in a luxury hotel in Miami and an exclusive pre-cruise gala.

Before You Book

• A 15% deposit is required for all cruises. For cruises of 14 nights or fewer, final payment is due 120 days prior to departure. On longer cruises, the remaining balance is due 150 days before you sail. If you book fewer than 90 days before the ship is scheduled to depart, you'll have to pay in full within 24 hours of booking.
• Cruise cancellation fees vary depending on the length of the cruise and how far out you cancel. For more information, see the Regent Seven Seas Cruises Terms and Conditions page .
• Children younger than six months are not permitted on Regent cruises, and infants must be at least 1 year old to sail on a voyage with three or more consecutive days at sea. Guests younger than 18 years old must share a suite with a guest who is 18 or older. Pregnant women who reach 24 weeks at any time before or during the cruise will be denied boarding.

Before You Board

• You will receive cruise documents, including e-tickets, approximately 45 days prior to your ship's departure date.
• Ships begin boarding at noon on the scheduled day of departure. If you are traveling from a U.S. port, you must board at least two hours prior to sailing time; if you are leaving from a port outside the U.S., you must board at least 90 minutes prior to departure.
• Guests are required to bring the appropriate travel documents; passport, visa and vaccination requirements vary by itinerary. The cruise line requires all guests have passports that are valid for six months after the cruise ends, regardless of ports of call. For more information about entry requirements for various countries, visit the  Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)  and World Health Organization websites.
• Passengers can book shore excursions up to 300 days before the start of their cruise (or up to 365 days in advance for guests eligible for the Concierge Amenities) by visiting Regent's My Account page . Dinner reservations can also be made through the My Account portal beginning 75 days before the ship's departure date (or 90 days before embarkation for travelers in Concierge Suites or higher). If you desire additional reservations, you may speak with the restaurant's maître d' once on board. Any dietary restrictions must be sent to Regent Seven Seas via email at least 120 days prior to departure for sailings embarking in the U.S. and 150 days before all other trips.
• Regent Seven Seas does not enforce weight, size or quantity restrictions for baggage. However, the cruise line suggests travelers check with their airline and pack accordingly.

Regent’s Seven Seas Society cruise loyalty program: The ultimate guide

Among luxury cruise lines, Regent Seven Seas Cruises has one of the most robust loyalty programs.

Despite being a relatively small brand with just five ships, it offers an impressive seven tiers of loyalty status as part of what it calls the Seven Seas Society. Each of the tiers brings a number of perks, some quite valuable.

As you start to rise through the Seven Seas Society tiers, you’ll find yourself rewarded with everything from onboard spending credits and free onboard Wi-Fi service to — at the highest levels — discounts of 5% to 10% on every cruise you book.

Those benefits work out to be real money in your pocket, as they will lower the cost of your cruise vacation.

The robustness of Regent’s program is all the more impressive, given that the line is one of the most all-inclusive in the world. Regent includes a lot of benefits in its fares — such as drinks and shore excursions — that other lines give away only as loyalty perks to their best customers.

That leaves Regent with fewer perks to offer in its loyalty program. Still, it has come up with some creative ways to reward its most loyal fans, including several that will make a big impact on their wallets.

Ways to earn points

The points-earning system for the Seven Seas Society program is about as simple as can be: You will earn 1 point for every night you stay on a Regent ship.

That’s it. There are no bonus points for staying in a top suite, as there are at some lines. Nor will you get extra points for spending certain amounts of money with the line, as is sometimes the case.

The only exception to the above is for solo cruisers who pay a “single supplement” of 75% or more to stay in a cabin designed for two. They get 2 points for every night they stay on a ship.

For the most part, though, if you take a 10-night cruise with Regent, you will get 10 points (which the line calls “nights”). Take a 20-night cruise, and you will get 20 points.

Note that in most cases, your points will accrue upon completion of the cruise on which they are earned. In the case of Regent’s longer Grand Voyages and World Cruises, you’ll see your points pop into your account at the end of each official segment of the trip. Either way, though, if the number of nights you are sailing during a cruise will elevate you to the next tier of rewards, you will enjoy instant recognition at the higher tier from the moment you board — a great feature of the program in our eyes.

One notable caveat to points earning in the program: You only will get credit for nights where you actually are present on a Regent ship. If you have to leave a cruise early, you won’t earn points for the nights you are not on board. You also won’t earn points for any nights spent in hotels as part of Regent’s pre- and post-cruise hotel and land programs.

Seven Seas Society tiers and benefits

There are seven tiers in the Seven Seas Society program:

• Bronze (7-20 nights)
• Silver (21-74 nights)
• Gold (75-199 nights)
• Platinum (200-399 nights)
• Titanium (400-999 nights)
• Diamond (1,000-1,999 nights)
• Commodore (2,000-plus nights)

Regent only offers cruises of seven nights or longer, so you’ll be at the first tier of the program, Bronze, after a single sailing. If you book one of Regent’s longer sailings as your first cruise with the line, you might even catapult into the second or third tier of the program after just one sailing.

As is typical for cruise line loyalty programs, the entry-level tier (Bronze) doesn’t bring all that much in terms of truly valuable rewards. The most alluring benefit at this level is the exclusive Seven Seas Society savings that are available on some departures.

In addition, Bronze members get:

• Access to an online personal profile
• An invitation to an onboard Seven Seas Society cocktail reception
• Double loyalty points when paying extra to sail solo

The double loyalty points for sailing solo only apply when paying a “single supplement” of at least 75% of the regular cruise fare for a cabin designed for two people.

Upon reaching the second tier of the program, Silver, things start getting more interesting. In addition to the Bronze-level rewards, you’ll get priority access when making dinner reservations for the three main specialty restaurants on Regent ships: Prime 7, Chartreuse and Pacific Rim. This is a great perk as it’ll give you a better shot at getting the dinner times you want at these eateries.

The Silver level also will get you the following:

• Priority online shore excursion reservations
• One hour of complimentary phone time every time you sail
• A commemorative pin
• A newsletter

At the next level up (Gold), the perks include all of the above plus a $100 shipboard credit per suite every time you sail. We love that perk, as it amounts to real money in your pocket. Plus, you’ll get:

• Unlimited Wi-Fi for free with four logins for up to four devices
• Two more hours of free phone time (for three hours in total)
• Priority disembarkation at voyage completion in select ports
• Choice of newspaper service from papers around the world
• Exclusive activities on board or ashore on every voyage

The Platinum level brings six more hours of phone time and complimentary luggage tags, two perks that don’t get us all that excited. The latter perk, in particular, is something that seems better in an entry-level tier (though to be fair, these luggage tags are made from quality leather).

But the Platinum level also adds the use of free custom air service once per sailing, which can come in handy. It lets you call a Regent concierge who will help customize your included-in-the-fare flights, so they work best for your schedule. Otherwise, you’re stuck with the flights that Regent picks for you or have to pay an extra charge to change them.

The Platinum level also brings a 10% discount on Regent Choice shore excursions (the line’s collection of niche or intimate extra-fee tours), hotel and land programs. This one perk alone could end up saving you hundreds of dollars.

As noted above, you’ll be at the Bronze tier after just one sailing with Regent. Reaching the Silver tier could take as many as three cruises if you stick to seven-night sailings. But you also could reach it in just one longer cruise.

The number of cruises it’ll take you to reach the Gold and Platinum tiers will depend on whether you do short or long sailings. If you stick to seven-night sailings, you’d have to take a whopping 29 cruises to reach the Platinum tier. But there are super long Regent cruises, such as a 168-night world cruise planned for 2025, that will get you almost all the way to Platinum level with a single voyage.

The elite level that makes a difference

We like quite a few of the perks available at the Bronze through Platinum levels of the Seven Seas Society program. But it is at the Titanium level that things really start to impress us.

Specifically, the Titanium level comes with four really nice perks:

• Free private transfers between your home or the airport and the ship, within a 100-mile radius, on embarkation and disembarkation day
• Free unlimited dry cleaning
• An additional 15% discount on Regent Choice shore excursions, hotels and land programs (for 25% total savings)
• Access to your suite at 1 p.m. on embarkation day

We absolutely love the private-transfer perk, which lets you start and end your trips in style. There’s nothing like having a private car pick you up at home at the start of the trip or a chauffeur waiting for you upon arrival at the airport. We also love the free unlimited dry cleaning perk. The discounts on shore excursions, hotels and land programs at this level can save you big money — more than $1,000 when booking some add-on land programs.

Getting to the Titanium level in the Seven Seas Society takes a whole lot of cruising. At a minimum, you’d need to spend the equivalent of more than a year at sea to hit the 400-night threshold for the tier. You could do that by sailing 58 seven-night cruises, 29 two-week cruises or three world cruises (the latter typically lasting around 150 to 170 days).

Best Seven Seas Society elite perk

Regent’s Seven Seas Society program doesn’t include a truly over-the-top perk, like the free cruises that rival Silversea Cruises gives out to members who hit certain milestones. But we do appreciate the 5% and 10% discounts on cruise fares that the line offers to members who reach the Diamond and Commodore tiers, respectively. That can be worth thousands of dollars when booking some sailings. Note that these discounts are available on any sailing you book, not just select Seven Seas Society sailings (for which, as mentioned above, you can get discounts upon reaching the Bronze tier of the program).

Diamond-level members also get one free Regent Choice shore excursion per voyage segment, up to $250 in value, as well as an invitation to new ship christenings (something that doesn’t happen all that often, alas).

The Commodore level adds two more perks that, while not worth a huge amount monetarily, are about as cool as it gets in the world of loyalty programs:

• A commemorative Commodore officers jacket
• A commemorative plaque in your name placed on all ships in the Regent fleet

The cutoffs for the Diamond and Commodore tiers are 1,000 nights and 2,000 nights at sea, respectively — levels that only the most dedicated cruisers can reach. But with years of heavy sailings, the feat is doable.

Note that, as is often the case with cruise line loyalty programs, Regent customers do not have to requalify for status each year. Seven Seas Society members keep their points at the end of each year and continue to accrue points indefinitely. That means that someone who hits Commodore status (and gets that cool jacket) will remain at that top-tier level forever (or until Regent makes a change to the program).

Such “forever status” is one of the great allures of cruise line loyalty programs. Many airline frequent flyer programs, by contrast, require members to requalify for status each year.

Bottom line

Regent Seven Seas Cruises has a robust frequent cruiser program with some great perks at its higher tiers. While it doesn’t offer a single perk that is truly knock-your-socks-off, such as the free cruises that a few lines give to customers who reach high levels of status, it brings significant discounts and value-added perks that begin at mid-tier levels.

This is all the more impressive given that Regent is one of the most all-inclusive lines in cruising. Regent includes so many things in its fares — such as drinks, unlimited Wi-Fi and shore excursions — that it leaves very little available to offer to loyal customers as an upgrade other than straight-out discounts on trips. But the line has found other ways to add value  — from free concierge service when arranging flights to a commemorative Commodore jacket.
