The Enchanting History and Beauty of Antalya: Dive into the Antalya Old City Tour and Antalya Waterfalls Tour

Steeped in rich history and bursting with natural beauty, Antalya is a treasure trove of unforgettable experiences. A part of the Mediterranean region in southwestern Turkey, it is known for its historical monuments, stunning landscapes, and picturesque beaches. Embarking on our Antalya Old City Tour and Antalya Waterfalls Tour allows you to journey through time and marvel at the beautiful blend of nature and history that this city offers.

Unravel the Past with the Antalya Old City Tour

The Antalya Old City Tour takes you through the heart of Kaleiçi, the old city district of Antalya. This area is the core of the city’s history, packed with buildings and structures that date back centuries, showcasing the rich cultural blend of Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman influences.

Hadrian’s Gate

As you wander the narrow, cobbled streets of Kaleiçi, one of the first significant landmarks you’ll encounter is Hadrian’s Gate (Hadrian Kapısı). Constructed in 130 AD to commemorate the visit of Roman Emperor Hadrian, this archway is a remarkable relic of Roman architecture. The gate is composed of three arches adorned with decorative marble columns, demonstrating intricate craftsmanship that has withstood the tests of time.

Ottoman Houses

Further into Kaleiçi, you’ll discover beautifully preserved Ottoman-era houses. These two-story wooden structures, with their characteristic red-tiled roofs and white-washed walls, offer a glimpse into the lifestyle of the Ottoman era. Some of these houses have been meticulously restored and transformed into boutique hotels, shops, or restaurants, blending past and present seamlessly.

Yivli Minare Mosque

An iconic landmark in Antalya’s old city is the Yivli Minare Mosque (Fluted Minaret Mosque). Constructed in the 13th century during the reign of the Seljuk Sultan, Alaaddin Keykubad I, its fluted minaret, a stunning example of Seljuk architecture, rises dramatically against the skyline.

Revel in Natural Beauty with the Antalya Waterfalls Tour

Moving from historical treasures to natural wonders, the Antalya Waterfalls Tour brings you face-to-face with some of the most stunning waterfalls in the region.

Düden Waterfalls

Our journey begins with the Düden Waterfalls, where the water cascades from a height of 20 meters into the Mediterranean Sea. The upper Düden waterfall is ensconced in a tranquil, verdant park, while the lower Düden waterfall dramatically plunges off a rocky cliff directly into the sea. The sight of the roaring water and the sensation of the cool mist on your face make for an unforgettable experience.

Kursunlu Waterfall

Further into the tour, you will encounter the Kursunlu Waterfall. Nestled in a nature park, this waterfall is characterized by its serene surroundings, with a variety of plant and animal species calling the park home. Here, the waterfalls form a series of small cascades and pools, each offering its unique appeal.

Superb!!! Booked it after a guide told us, and even though it was last minute, the customer service helped us a lot. They picked us up from the hotel in the morning and we really enjoyed a lovely tour of the city. The weather was great so when we enter the cable car we were stunned by the imposing views. Good option for families, nothing to worry about during the day. I joined this tour last week with my husband and two toddlers. The kids liked it a lot, and they were fascinated by the incredible sights we saw during the day. It was so good to spent quality time as a family, and we want to say thank you to the tour guide for the amazing experience he gave us. Antalya is a beautiful, must-visit city!!

That was probably the best city tour I did so far! Fully organized, the tour guide took care even of the smallest detail. Transfers were on time and the bus was comfortable. We went to the most important tourist attractions in the city, and felt the energy of both, old and modern Antalya. The clock tower and the charming streets of the old town were fantastic. I bought many souvenirs from the little shops in the city centre.

7 Best Antalya Waterfalls You Must See

Renowned for its natural beauty, Antalya is home to some of the most stunning waterfalls. These seven best Antalya waterfalls, each unique and breathtaking, offer visitors an unparalleled experience of the city’s splendid landscape, combining the thrill of exploration with the serenity of nature.

Best Antalya Waterfalls

1)  manavgat waterfall.

Whenever I go to Manavgat Waterfall, I see that it deserves the popularity it has gained. It’s really fascinating to see running water all year round . You can go there with friends, family, or by yourself. It’s always enjoyable and peaceful.

antalya city tour and 3 waterfalls

Located in Manavgat, the second largest district in Antalya , the name is derived from the district. Being 4 km from the center of Manavgat and 72 km to Antalya,  it’s really easy to reach . Don’t miss the chance to see the Manavgat waterfall if you’ will be visiting Antalya.

Manavgat Waterfall is the result of water falling over a cliff 3 or 4 meters high in the course of Manavgat River, an important river, referred to as Til and Melas in historical texts .

What to do?

There are a lot of options in and around Manavgat Waterfall. You can have a picnic there or enjoy the food served in the restaurants and cafes. There are many of them around, and they are all good.

antalya city tour and 3 waterfalls

If you’re the adventurous type, why not take a rafting trip on the river? Jeep safaris, treks, boat tours, or a nature walk are only some of the options of which you can take advantage .

Whatever you do, don’t miss the chance to take a seat and give yourself over to the inspiration the flowing water offers.

2) Düden Waterfalls

Would you be surprised to hear that there are two separate waterfalls in Düden? I used to think of them as a single waterfall, but there are actually two, named the Upper and Lower Düden Waterfalls.

antalya city tour and 3 waterfalls

Their source is the Kepez Hydroelectric Power Plant, which divides it into two sections through Düden Stream, both of which flow into the Mediterranean Sea.

Lower Düden Waterfall

Also known as Karpuzkaldıran (Watermelon-Lifter) Waterfall, the environment is a haven for those who want to escape the heat of Antalya’s summer.

Only 8 km to the center of Lara District, the water falls over cliffs 40 meters high. It’s so marvelous, you’ll be glad you went.

Upper Düden Waterfall

Also known as Iskender (Alexander) Waterfall since Alexander the Great spent some time there, letting his horses drink on his voyage to Pamphylia during a military expedition.

antalya city tour and 3 waterfalls

You can enjoy the waterfall by taking a short walk or drinking tea at the tea gardens. You’ll also find picnic areas and restaurants around this natural park. While you’re there, smell the cool air, listen to the bubbling water, and enjoy the greenery around you.

3) Kurşunlu Waterfall

One word: Magnificent! I’m really looking forward to getting back to this green and blue heaven; I enjoyed every minute spent there.

antalya city tour and 3 waterfalls

With its small lakes and waterfalls, Kurşunlu Waterfall promises to be an enjoyable, peaceful day or weekend out. There are some accommodations there you might want to check out.

The main waterfall runs over a cliff, 18 meters high. There are also several smaller waterfalls. This setting incorporates 7 small, connected lakes.

Kurşunlu Waterfall is located near the center of Antalya, only 22 km away. You can find it along the Antalya-Isparta Main Road or take a minibus from the city center.

There are More than Waterfalls

The area was turned into a natural park by the authorities in 1986. Since then, visitors can enjoy the area with safety and comfort. It’s always more comfortable when you know there will be facilities around at which to enjoy yourself.

antalya city tour and 3 waterfalls

The park’s flora is very rich and contains red pines, eastern sycamores, bays, carobs, wild olives, gum trees, willows, and fig trees. Also, waiting for you to discover are myrtle hawthorns, oleanders, blackberries, wild roses, euphorbia, tamarisks, spruces, kermes oaks, thyme, wild mint, records, ferns, and aquatic plants and vines, such as buckthorn, water mint, water reeds, water chandeliers, green algae, and waterlilies.

If you take a walk in the park, you might also see plenty of wild animals . You can see foxes, rabbits, squirrels, wild boars, turtles, carp, water turtles, dogs, snakes, and lizards walking, jumping, or swimming; and bats, hoopoes, and woodpeckers in the trees or flying around you–be alert!

4) Sapadere Waterfall

When I went to Sapadere Canyon, I felt a bit silly that I’d been to Antalya a million times and hadn’t seen it before. It’s okay. No harm done! Now’s the time.

antalya city tour and 3 waterfalls

This canyon hosts a waterfall, called Sapadere. Karstic Canyon is 360 meters long and 400 meters high, located in the village of Sapadere in Alanya District, 45 km from the city center. The only way to get there is to use your car or to join a tour –there is no public transportation. If you love camping, you’ll be thrilled to learn it’s an option here!

Walk toward the fountain and it’s a gorgeous pool, accompanied by a stream. When you finally reach the fountain through the exciting canyon road, be prepared to swim in the cold water of this natural pool .

You don’t have to worry about meals while visiting. While a nice picnic is always an option, there is a restaurant there, serving natural village foods. Enjoy!

5) Değirmendere Waterfall

Located in Antalya’s Manavgat District is Değirmendere Waterfall, also known as Gizli Cennet (Hidden Heaven) Waterfall. The name is an accurate one. When you get there, it’ll feel like you’ve arrived in Heaven.

antalya city tour and 3 waterfalls

The name Değirmendere (Mill Stream) comes from the stream with the same name, around which many water mills were settled.

It really is a hidden heaven because it’s not known by many people outside of the locals in neighboring villages, so there won’t be a crowd in the park when you get there.

The water comes from its source and falls over the rocks from 3 to 4 meters above. After a nice walk inside the park (which is very nicely organized) you can take a swim in the beautiful, natural lake.

Why not spend the whole day there with friends and family? We all know how enjoyable it is to be around and inside the water. Even if you aren’t a swimmer, you can still walk in the shallow waters.

When you get hungry, the cafe around the natural lake is a great place to go to listen to the burbling water while enjoying your Turkish coffee or tea.

6) Uçansu Waterfalls

The Upper and Lower Uçansu Waterfalls aren’t easy to get to, but it’ll be worth your effort to try.

antalya city tour and 3 waterfalls

These waterfalls are located in the village of Akçapınar in Antalya’s Serik District. It’s 57 km to Antalya, and 54 km to Serik. The source of the waterfalls is Uçandere Stream, formed by the Havutlu and Bal Streams.

You’ll probably see many people around, especially in the summer season. This beautiful site is on the Saint Paul Route, an important pilgrimage trail for Christians.

The water density depends on the season , and there’s limestone everywhere. Rafting is always an option if you’re looking for some adventure.

Upper Uçansu Waterfall

Between these two, the more difficult to reach is the Upper Uçansu Waterfall. You can only drive so far before you’ll have to follow a walking trail to get there. It might take an hour or so to get there, but don’t let that stop you.

antalya city tour and 3 waterfalls

The Upper Uçansu Waterfall falls from a cliff 70 m high into a natural lake, 2.5 meters deep.

Another hidden area there is the King Pool , located behind a rocky structure on the falling waters. Fortunately, there’s a path through the forest, leading to the King Pool. It’s a bit complex and uphill, so be aware.

Don’t forget to bring snacks with you, since you won’t find any food outlets there.

Lower Uçansu Waterfall

The Lower Uçansu Waterfall falls from a cliff 51.5 meters high into a lake 4 meters deep. What’s different with this waterfall pool is that it’s not as cold as the others, so y ou can enjoy its green waters without shivering.

antalya city tour and 3 waterfalls

If you plan to have a meal on this trip, you should plan to take it there–there’s a great restaurant on-site with plenty of good options on the menu.

7) Gömbe Uçarsu Waterfall

This place is just marvelous. It differs from the ones mentioned above in that it’s full of surprises. For instance, you may come across a wish tree in the neighborhood.

Located in the important, mystical Gömbe Plateau, it’s been a significant site since ancient times.

If you really want to go to Uçarsu Waterfall (and Yeşilgöl–surprise! ) you should be careful: there are directions on the road, but the signboards are tiny and easy to miss. Don’t forget to bring comfortable shoes with which to walk on the rocky ground.

Gömbe is 70 km from Kaş and has a nice view of Akdağ Mountain, which is 3000 meters high. Following the path to Uçarsu Waterfall, one of Akdağ’s three sources of spring water.

Uçarsu Waterfall was created by melting snows falling over the 60 meter-high hill. This is different than the other waterfalls because the water isn’t dense. Its clear water flows over and around the rocks, adding to the fascinating scenery.

And yes, Yeşilgöl (Green Lake) is close to the fountain. It’s a crater lake and really green, making it suitable for a picnic. So, if you go there, come prepared to enjoy a nice afternoon next to the lake.

antalya city tour and 3 waterfalls

Walk around the plateau until you reach Uçarsu Waterfall. Don’t forget to take in everything around you to enjoy the rich flora of this area.

You can get to the Gömbe Plateau by taking a car or joining a tour from the center of Kaş. Either way, be prepared to walk.

You’ll always find a place in the villages to have lunch or drink tea while listening to the water and finding inner peace. Bringing snacks with you is a must, even if you don’t plan to have a picnic in Gömbe’s hills.

This has been all about Antalya’s Waterfalls. I’m sure you were already aware of some of them, but I hope I’ve helped you to discover some of the others.

You can go to Antalya for a sun-and-sand-holiday, but you should definitely save some time to enjoy this magnificent aspect of nature.

The world is full of surprises, and there’s a lot to discover. I hope we all have the opportunity to do so.

The entrance into the park is free, and you will hear the magical sounds of local musicians drifting through the area as you make your way to the edge of the Lower Düden Waterfall. Situated in the middle of the park is a number of food stalls where you can find traditional Turkish and international food options.

This popular waterfall is located 25 minutes by car and 50 minutes by public buses from Antalya’s center. If you are visiting Lara Beach, one of the best beaches in Antalya , the waterfall is only a 10-minute drive away.

If you are looking for a unique viewpoint of the Lower Düden Waterfall, then consider taking a boat tour from Antalya . After heavy rainfall, the water may be a brown color so it’s best to go after a clear day to appreciate the waterfall at its clearest.

2. Upper Düden Falls

Upper-Duden-Falls

  • Distance from Antalya: About 10 km (6.2 mi) from Kaleiçi (Old Town) in Varsak district
  • Hiking Required? No
  • Address: Varsak Mahallesi Düden Şelalesi Parkı içi, Kepez, Antalya
  • Opening Hours : 8.00am – 7.30pm in the summer, 8.00am – 6.00pm in the winter.
  • Entrance Fee: 50 TL for foreigners

From the Lower Duden falls, head upstream and follow the River and you’ll find yourself the Upper Düden Waterfall. Situated far from Antalya city centre, Upper Duden Falls is the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle. It is a piece of green haven where visitors can cool down and enjoy the fresh air, especially on a hot summer day.

You can stroll along the pathways and through the natural caves. Fortunately, there are view platforms to see this Turkey waterfall up close. Sturdy footwear is advised as the path can be slippery and, in some sections, there is more difficult terrain.

There is a small entrance fee with the ticket booth on-site and there is an ATM across the road from the car park, if you forget to bring cash with you.

Inside the park, you will find decent facilities including free toilets and water fountains. If you wish to avoid the crowds, it’s best to arrive early in the morning when it opens.

There are plenty of nice restaurants and cafe options available along the river, so you can enjoy the sounds of the flowing water as you have lunch. If you wish to bring your own food, there is plenty of space to enjoy a picnic overlooking the waterfall.

The Upper Duden Waterfall is located 30 minutes by car from the Lower Düden waterfall and 20 minutes from the center of Antalya. Visitors can take the Varsak minibuses from the center of Antalya to the waterfalls. They depart every 20 minutes and take 35 minutes to arrive.

3. Manavgat Waterfall

Manavgat-Waterfalls-Natural-Landmark-of-Turkey

  • Distance from Antalya: 78 km (48 mi) in Manavgat district
  • Hiking Required? No, but a short walk
  • Address: Sarılar, istiklal caddesi no 35, 07600 Manavgat, Antalya
  • Opening Hours: 9.00am – 11.00pm Monday – Friday, 9.00am – 10.30pm Saturday, 9.00am – 11.30pm Sunday
  • Entrance Fee: 20 TL for adults, 10 TL for children aged 6+

A beautiful place to take a day trip from Antalya , Side, or Manavgat is Manavgat Waterfall. Enjoy local food at one of the restaurants adjacent to the Manavgat River or bring your own snacks to have at the many picnic tables on-site.

There is a small fee to enter and to use the toilets inside the area. The beautiful waterfall is two meters high and 40 meters wide and is surrounded by trees hanging over the river. Unfortunately, swimming or even going into the river is forbidden.

To give visitors a good view of the waterfall, there are viewing platforms where you can take photos or stand in awe of the power of Manavgat Waterfall. The walk to the platforms is short and easy to reach after entering the park.

By car, this waterfall is located 15 minutes from Side and eight minutes from Manavgat center, with free parking next to the entrance. It is advised to arrive early in the morning as this iconic natural Turkish landmark becomes full of tourists around midday as the tours come in.

Fun Fact: The Manavgat Waterfall was depicted on the back of the 5 Turkish Lira note from 1968 to 1983!

4. Kurşunlu Waterfall

kursunlu-waterfall-Antalya

  • Distance from Antalya: 22 km (13 mi) in Aksu district
  • Hiking Required? Yes, 25 minutes from the entrance of the park
  • Address: Kursunlu Şelalesi, 07119 Aksu, Antalya
  • Opening Hours: 9.00am – 5.30pm daily
  • Entrance fee: 28 TL for adults

The Kursunlu Waterfall is situated inside the Kursunlu Waterfall Nature Park, a 587-hectare green space with plenty of trails, picnic areas, and recreation space. This 18-meter Antalya waterfall empties into 7 smaller pools and is surrounded by gorgeous natural beauty. Unfortunately, this is not a place where travelers can swim in.

The water that flows down the river is a deep, rich, blue color and offers visitors a nice backdrop for their photos. Another beautiful feature is a green, mossy wall behind the waterfall.

The walk to the waterfall is around two kilometers. However, for those who are keen hikers, there is a longer option through the national park that takes three hours and follows along the river. Visitors can even go behind the Kurşunlu Waterfall to a hidden cave to take photos and cool off by standing next to the spray from the water (unfortunately swimming is prohibited).

There is a small fee to enter (and they do not accept card so carry cash), but the park is well equipped with toilets, paved paths, free parking, Turkish restaurants and more for guests to enjoy.

Kurşunlu Waterfall is easy to reach from Antalya, with a short 25-minute drive by car or one and a half hours by public transport. Minibuses number 230and 23 and bus number 79 can be used to reach the waterfall.

5. Sapadere Waterfall

sapadere waterfall

  • Distance from Antalya: 182 km (113 mi) in Alanya district
  • Hiking Required? Yes (30 min to get there)
  • Address: Sapadere, 07430 Alanya, Antalya
  • Opening Hours: 8.30am – 6.00pm daily
  • Entrance Fee: 60 TL

If you are looking for a day trip that has many spots to swim and cool off from the hot Turkish sun, then Sapadere Waterfall in Antalya should be on your list. This waterfall is situated near the Sapadere Village in a scenic canyon surrounded by greenery.

Reaching the Sapadere Waterfall requires a 30-minute walk from the entrance. This way through the canyon has a wooden footpath, which means this waterfall is easy to get to and accessible for many. There is a small cost to enter Sapadere Canyon to see the main attraction of the final waterfall.

As you walk up the canyon there are four different pools that you can swim in. Once you arrive at the main waterfall, there is a bigger pool with refreshing, cool water where you can swim up to the water crashing down from above.

The waterfall is enclosed by the canyon cliffs and is a fun place to jump into the water.

After a refreshing swim to the waterfall, stop by the village of Sapadere and enjoy a local meal and Turkish Tea at one of the restaurants. You can reach the entrance of the canyon after a one-hour drive from Alanya by car.

Sapadere Waterfall is arguably the best waterfall in Antalya for swimming!

6. Uçansu Falls

Ucansu Falls Antalya

  • Address: Kozan, 07541 Serik, Antalya
  • Opening Hours: 24 hours
  • Entrance Fee: free
  • Distance from Antalya: 61 km (37 mi) in Gundogmus district
  • Hiking Required? Yes, a short hike

If you want a remote trek into one of Antalya’s most hidden waterfalls, then Ucansu Waterfall is perfect for you. The water comes from the melting of the glaciers in the Taurus Mountains, which means they are ice cold and perfect for the hot summer.

After a short walk through Turkey’s natural landscapes, visitors are rewarded with a wide, green pool and a stunning stream of water falling into the pool below. Take a dip in the cold water or enjoy the view from the nearby rocks or viewing platform.

The height of the waterfall is 40 meters and is spread wide, creating a picturesque blanket of water. If you visit on a clear day, the water will be clear, blue, and very cold. As this waterfall requires more effort to find, it often has fewer tourists than some of the more popular waterfalls in the region.

Although the road to reach these falls can be rough in parts, the destination is worth it. The drive from Antalya takes one and a half hours. Jeep safari tours take tourists to the waterfalls as a day trip, allowing those who don’t have the appropriate transportation to marvel at this hidden gem.

Sturdy footwear is recommended to reach this remote waterfall. There is an option to camp in the area in order to be surrounded by mountains and enjoy the sounds of the waterfall as you relax in wonderful nature. There are barbecues for use as well, however, there is no place to buy food at the waterfall so come prepared.

7. Değirmendere Waterfall

  • Distance from Antalya: 104 km (64.6 mi) in Manavgat district
  • Address: Halitağalar, 07600 Manavgat, Antalya

If you are looking for a free waterfall to swim in during your trip to Antalya , you should consider taking a trip to Değirmendere Waterfall, or Hidden Paradise, as it’s more commonly named.

Once one of the most hidden gems in Antalya, the Değirmendere Waterfall is slowly becoming more popular, thanks to the infrastructure being built around it.

Visitors can immerse themselves in the green surroundings, swim in the cool waters, or find a nice place to view the waterfall to escape the chaos of city life.

The main waterfall is four meters high with multiple smaller waterfalls. There are wooden stairs that take you to the higher smaller waterfalls, as well as give you a unique view of the main one below.

With free entrance, visitors can cool off with a swim in the natural pool below Değirmendere Waterfall.

To visit these falls, you might want to be prepared with your own food and water. Though there is a restaurant right next to the waterfall, it is not always open. Değirmendere Waterfall is reachable by car in one hour from Alanya and one hour and 1.5 hours from the center of Antalya.

8. Göynük Canyon Waterfalls

Goynuk Canyon Waterfall

  • Distance from Antalya: 35 km (21 mi) in Kemer district
  • Hiking Required? Yes, around 50 minutes to the lake
  • Address: Beldibi Mahallesi, Çomaklar Mevkii, No:73 Göynük Kanyonu, 07982 Kemer, Antalya
  • Opening Hours: 9.00am – 6.30pm daily
  • Entrance Fee: 90 TL

If you are up for an adventure during your visit to Antalya, then head to Göynük Canyon to take on boating, ziplining, swimming, or rafting. Naturally, the inside of the canyon forms waterfalls as the river flows through the marble-like rock formations. The water is a rich, blue color and is perfect for swimming on a hot day.

At the entrance of the canyon, there is a Turkish restaurant and some cafes inside the canyon. However, the town of Göynük will offer more options for food.

A dry bag is recommended if you plan to do any of the water activities available for visitors to the canyon. The entrance fee is small and can be paid on site and you can find toilets inside the entrance. You can reach the canyon by car from the center of Antalya in one hour or in two hours by public transport.

The walk through the canyon is moderately easy and will take around 50 minutes to reach from where the boat tours begin. The hike takes you up the canyon and through some of the most beautiful viewpoints in the region. Combining stunning views, refreshing waters for swimming, and multiple waterfalls along the way, Göynük Canyon is easily one of the best attractions in Antalya.

If you are looking to combine this destination with another attraction, it would be ideal to explore the ancient city of Olympos on your way there, but you would need to rent a car for that.
